I enjoyed her art class and she was always ok when students came in late. Merkley-Omej is super caring and wants her students to do well. She also offers lots of extra credit if you try challenges or if you go to after school art shows and galleries. One of the easiest classes Ive taken that didnt bore me to death:)

Easy A for sure! A few group discussions, minimal effort art projects. Easy quizzes! She tries to make it as easy as possible and fun because of Covid, it is only avail online. Take her class its easy!

I really liked this class! They made it really accessible for us. Due to Covid it was online but I still learned a lot and the class was pretty easy.

Super nice, this was a fun class. If you show up and participate it's an easy A. Gives clear instructions, the projects were fun, there are many ways to get extra credit.

Good professor. She had a pet monkey named Banana Jones. Other than that pretty normal.

She was awesome to have in class. She was very good at engaging even students who were uninterested. Here enthusiasm for are made the class much more entertaining. A student slandered her favorite painting and she sprayed him with paint.

One time i forgot my backpack, she then forced me to sprint all the way to my car and back in under 60 seconds. I collapsed in the doorway. Other than that it was a pretty good class.

Has been the best professor yet. She has the funniest laugh ever, when she laughs she starts crying and snorting best thing ever.

This is the worst professor that I have ever taken. Whenever anyone says something she disagrees with, she throws any nearby object at them. She gives 5 hours of study work to do everyday outside of class, and interupts lectures with heavy weighed pop quizzes. She forces all students to attend hours long zoom classes on the weekend as well. Funny.

The first day of class Professor Merkley drove her pimped out minivan to class.

This teacher would come into class to complain about her life. We never learned anything because she was too busy crying, but she expected us to know everything on our quizzes. Mrs. Merkley-Omej is very temperamental and threatens her students all the time. If you do not call her doctor she will take points off of your assignments.

Overall the class is fine, I came in expecting it to be more project-oriented but it's not, if you took any sort of art class in high school it's nothing like that. She's nice and the biggest grade is attendance, my only issue with her would be that she brings her cat to class. It was cute at first but eventually, it was just annoying.

Professor Merkley is awesome. You can tell she cares about her classes and learning outcomes. Highly recommend. She does show up to class everyday in a full suit and tie. It takes a little getting used to.

Love the teacher she's amazing! It can be difficult to concentrate while she is constantly snacking through her lectures though.

Man, was this class tough. Professor Merkley heavily used the textbook, and we were told to write so many freaking papers. This class itself wasn't hard, but the tests were. Be prepared. At least her dalmatian is hella cute, and that decked-out minivan is something for sure.

Assigns lots of homework we have tests each week and tests are not even related to what we learn.

she has this thing where everyday when class starts she has to get on the counters and just lets out the most randomist scream ever then proceeds like nothing ever happened, 10/10 on taking this class

Professor Rebecca is a fun and down-to-earth person who loves her students and likes to have fun while also providing helpful and insightful knowledge on Art and Art History. She may be goofy at times but she is definitely a teacher you will enjoy and have a laugh with!!

Once you get past her thicc Brooklyn accent, her class is a breeze. And by breeze, I mean a tornado.

She's a great professor. She keeps everything really simple yet you're still learning a lot every day. She has some pretty harsh opinions about abstract and contemporary art though. I guess she's just old school so look out for that.

Great class chill teacher although one time she offered me pot in class. I did accept although was kind of skeptical at first.

Professor Merkley's art history class is delightful and she knows what she's talking about. The only weird thing is that she carries around a squirt bottle and when students answer a question wrong she squirts them with water. Other than an occasional light misting this class is good.

This prof was amazing, willing to work with you around whatever's going on to make sure you pass. Great lectures, always a fun time. Projects were interesting and engaging. There's an essay as the final but it's clear, easy, and large time frame. Perfect for art credit if you're not a great artist. (art appreciation/history)

Rebecca Merkley-Omej is a great professor that cares about our mental health. You can take mental health days and you will be fine in terms of class work. Her lectures are short and that is a good thing because as college students we are always overwhelm but not in her class.

Professor Rebecca Merkley-Omeje is a good teacher, however, she gives too much homework. Also, you will have to read the chapters/lectures since she is only interested in talking about Picasso.

Professor Merkley-Omeje is incredible. She's very kind and funny -- I can't recommend her enough. She loves the works of Thomas Kinkade so much that every week there was an extra-credit assignment where you'd write an essay on one of his paintings and the elements that made it so incredibly beautiful. I would take her again! Her class is great!

Professor Merkley-Omej does a fantastic job with teaching this art course. She's also funny so be prepared to get roasted to the point where you can't even think of a comebacks and leave the class crying.

This class was life changing. Rebecca taught us about interactive art. She brought us to a section of the parking lot she sectioned off, towed up a broken down 1998 honda, gave half of us baseball bats and the other half spray paint cans (we all got safety goggles and masks) and let us just go to town on the car. We all took pictures afterward.

She was a great professor although she would randomly break out into song, and not just any song, it was the national anthem... I guess you could just sing along with her (:

Absolutely amazing teacher and person in general. Great and interesting lectures about all the different aspects of art. The emotional support cat that she brought to class was an amazing bonus too!

She brings her cat to class sometimes and lets it hop on our projects which was annoying at times but very cute. 10/10 would start over a project to pet the cat again.

Great professor

Lectures include 30+ slides and she goes VERY in-depth about each one. She also came in wearing a Halloween mask this one time, but apart from that, she's a very chill professor!

Professor Merkley-Omeje is so inclusive, kind, and funny--I can't recommend her enough. Her class is easy, as long as you show up to lectures, take notes, and ask questions you'll be fine. Also, a plus about her class is she occasionally brings in her emotional support cat and also lets students bring their cats for playdates for extra credit.

The professor's really nice and most assignments are simple and done with partners, but she only ever speaks in rhymes. She speaks in rhymes all the times.

Professor Rebecca Merkley-Omej was great, she's a really nice, and respectful respectful person, she always shares her knowledge in Art, which is great. As long as you participate in class you'll be fine. I do have one thing to say though, she puts heavy metal music while we're working, making all classmates wear black the next day.

Rebecca Merkley-Omej was my art professor at Columbia Basin College who had a secret superpower. She was born with the ability to manipulate the elements of nature. However, she kept her abilities hidden from us students and colleagues for fear of being ostracized or being seen as an outsider.

She was a great teacher, but she did jump up and down on her desk when someone got an answer wrong. Besides that she was great and enjoyable.

The professor is very nice and funny, the only thing that surprised me a bit was when she would start breakdancing on the floor whenever someone said the word pumpernickel. But other than that the class was a blast.

Professor Merkley-Omeje was a great professor. She was very kind and helpful. However, the final exam is extremely hard and it's like 200 questions long.

Attendance matters in this class. You will have one big essay every week.

This class was really fun and chill. A Lot of participation to get the students to interact with others. My favorite thing about her was when she would dress as different characters from different cartoons every Thursday and would make us sing the theme song of the cartoon and would take off points if we didn't participate. Best part of the class

Great teacher, I learned a lot about art in her class. You can tell that Professor Merkley-Omej has a true love for art just by taking her class and being around her, but you can also see it in her fully customized and airbrushed Harley Davidson that she rides when the weather is nice. It truly shows her appreciation for all forms of art.

This teacher mad chill, but if she catches you on your phone or sleeping she will make the whole class stop and stare at you which is embarrassing for you.

The professor was pretty great, but she was a bit different. On Thursdays during group projects, she would run around screaming, and barking.

i think mrs.Merkley is an amazing professor I showed up late a few times and she didn't get incredibly frustrated with me she understood I was having a bad day . i truly appreciated her kindness throughout the semester on a different occasion I didn't have anything to eat and she bought me a sandwich.

Great teacher, super easy assignments. That mainly focus on how to draw like a first grader.

If you don't pay attention she will spray you with a spray bottle like a water gun and then sing a song to you from the top of her lungs. If you are late, you must hop on one foot to your desk as well or you can not sit down. Great professor, would gladly take her again!

This professor is overall good but be ready to do the extra credit. Some of the extra credit assignments are a little strange but in general easy. Some days if you arrive to class early you might not see the professor because she often hides in the cabinets behind the podium before class begins.

I really enjoyed this class and I am not an art fanatic but she made this class very fun and interesting. She is pretty funny and very chill. She will take the time to explain any assignments and answer your questions without making you feel dumb. Be careful to not look at her because if you make eye contact, she will make you make a silly face.

She is a great professor and you will finish all your assignments during class. Assignment are very simple and her art projects are pretty fun.

She loves to beat box when giving a lecture

I was gone one day when we had done a project and was lost because the online instructions were difficult for me to personally understand. So after class, I went up to her and admitted that I did not understand the assignment because I was absent the day she explained it, and she kindly explained it to me again despite my lack of attendance.

She is the sweetest professor, understanding, fun, engaging, and very passionate about the class. You can miss one day without falling a week behind. She cares if you pass but also wants you to learn. We did one "big" art assignment on Thursdays, and the rest was small daily assignments. The only thing I would complain about is the 100-page essay.

Rebecca Merkley the type to Scream at art paintings because they aren't impacting her student's enough

She is a great Professor I would definitely take this class again. But the way she teaches is by singing every single word we have never heard her actually talk normally.

Rebecca is top 3 on my favorite profs list. Her class is definitely one I'll recommend, with that being said though...she is extremely into acting. She told us she almost "made it", and because of this she dedicates Mondays to strictly acting like how a famous painter would, you have the weekends to prepare.

Amazing class, lots of work though. Would definitely take it again.

She is really funny and relatable. Work is not hard at all. Although she is VERY vocal about her Football opinions. Like i remember once she went on a 20 minute tangent about how her football team should of won and the other team cheated.

she makes you write lots of papers. They're always long essay papers too. The class is fun tho.

She is super mean. If you are late you have to submit the work 2 times and she said if you fall asleep she will put a metal bucket under your chair and light 5 firecrackers and throw them into the bucket. Also, those other comments about the spray bottle are REAL. No joke I think the water in the bottle was even moldy.

Amazing teacher, however, she is an avid conspiracy theorist and will sometimes rant about Queen Elizabeth is still alive and in hiding, and how one of her co-workers is a secret spy sent by the government to monitor her. But aside from that, she's pretty chill.

I took her the first quarter of my first year of collage she was amazing and definitely a great professor to have when i was managing to be a student athlete, she never missed a day and was always there with a great attitude i 10/10 recommend taking her.

This professor was really great and fun to talk to and super funny and fun personality but the test were super hard and there was one every week.

Wonderful professor, they're really passionate about art and it really shows in their teaching. The only thing I didn't like was that she drinks her home-brewed kombucha during class all the time, and it smells absolutely rancid. So if you don't mind the smell you'll have a great quarter with this professor!

Prof Merkley was awesome, but she never wore shoes which is fine until some of the students started going barefoot too... If that doesn't bother you then I highly recommend her class!!

Prof. Merkley was an amazing teacher except when it came to eating paper, she would get hungry and just start eating it, quite weird.

The professor taught the class very well and was very passionate about the art we learned about. Although one day she came into the classroom with a taxidermy raccoon and left it on the the table next to me for the remainder of class. If you can get past that it's a great class and the professor teaches it very well.

She is so mean shes such a stickler, always watching over you shoulder with a ruler and then smaking the end of the ruler on the table to point out mistakes in your work. Really mean and squirts bad art/people if she really things the art or the person messed up really bad. Unacceptable behavior from a collage "Proffesor"

Mean professor does nothing but throw up some video and read a script and just sip on drinks. Will humble you and talk to you like a sweet old lady with the words of a drunk sailor. Never helped just critized and we had to fix what was wrong but never said how to make it right. Stern and fragile woman, even lifted her hand out of her pockets to box

she was a really good professor, but made attendance mandatory. Would make you write 4 paragraph papers on why exactly you missed class and what you could do better.

You have to be a psych major to take this class. They will talk about their problems and if you give a good enough response then you will get a good grade. Good luck

She then told us for extra credit to apply for as many credit cards as we can and however many we get accepted for , my credit score dropped from a 650 to a 200. She constantly brags about how her dad can beat up our dads and also brags about how she can deadlift 350 with one hand. She even told me that life isn't fair and gave me an F for agreeing

Tough Professor

They weren't kidding about the credit score, I applied for as many credit cards as I could because she promised us "extra credit if we can get accepted" (Don't know why) and unfortunately my score is 250 from a 850 and my mortgage rates skyrocketed. I'm currently outside in a box trying to stay and warn others about the mistake I made.

This lady has a foot fetish. Every Thursday for project day painted a picture using her toes and it was mandatory to take your shoes AND socks off in class. She is also delusional.

This class was great, and the lectures were amazing; however, during every lecture, she would claim that she was the long-lost cousin of Pablo Picasso. Although weird, it's very easy to look past. I highly recommend taking this class.

This professor was excellent, but she was blind so we couldn't raise our hands to ask questions.

If you fall asleep in class the professor will go right next to you and scream to wake you back up. She'll also scream randomly to get people's attention. She has expressed she wants to be an actor and will randomly pick students to act out a scene alongside her. If you act well you get to leave class early.

Amazing art teacher although she claimed to have discovered a hidden cave filled with ancient artworks from a long-lost civilization and tell stories depicted in the cave paintings, and the impact it had on her own artistic journey. Other than that she is very chill.

The professor was an amazing teacher! Although she always started the class by making us recite the names of her favorite artists, which had some overly complicated names, but besides that the class was fun!

Proffesor was understanding and allowed plenty of time to turn in assignments. Class was always easy to follow and understand. Attendance was optional but assignments were all it took.

And at the beginning of every class, we have to say Good Moring Mrs. Merkley-Omej in sync with the rest of the students. Other than that, she is a great professor.

Professor gave plenty of time to turn in assignments, even when late. Was also understanding when there was a lack of resources, and gave other options for the same amount of points. Explained course materials well and was easy to understand. There's also extra credit.

Where do I even begin... When class starts she makes us say in unison, "You're the best, we'll be stressed" just to remind us of how difficult her class is. If you ask for extra credit she'll give it to you, only if you get on your knees and start praising her telling her how shiny her hair looks and how amazing she looks. She's okay.

Mrs. Rebecca Merkley-Omej was one of the hardest professors I have ever taken. Do not take her class or you will fail.
