Her lectures are very interactive. Mostly from the book. She shows videos and gives activities. She is very nice and is passionate about biology. Her tests are very challenging (50-70 ?'s MC). Study hard for an A. Not many did well on plants test. This course covers so much info. She is willing to help, if needed. Use the book website!!

Very good prof. Naturally, bio 2 has alot of material to cover, but she helps students cope LOL She's extremely understanding and keeps pace with the students. Whenever our whole class freaked out, she re-wrote an entire test. Take her if you're serious. She's great! Read your book, it'll take a bit of studying but absolutely possible to make an A!

Very good at what she does. Required a lot of studying at first, but as the semester drew on, I was able to get by by cramming. Attend any review she offers before a test as she will tell you what you need to know. Likes telling stories about her kids, and relating them to the subject at hand. I would definetly take her again.

Absolutely fantastic professor. I would take her again if I could. Knows exactly what she's talking about and will always offer help and explain things to you if you don't understand if your willing to put in the effort. Her class does require study but thats what you are there for anyways.

Very Organized and nice teacher. If you keep up with the class, and read the textbook, basically you won't have much difficulties in passing this class. She doesn't mind taking time to help out the students. She uses powerpoints, and uses examples to explain the concepts well. Was comfortable class.

Don't be mislead, the class is hard no matter what professor is teaching it because there is a lot of material to cover. If somebody thinks she's hard is because they don't study at all. She is nice, teaches well, gives reviews, she is simply great. Can't think of a better professor!! Want an A without studying, no professor is good.

She's very organized, goes through all the concepts clearly that you're going to get tested on. She gives a lot of examples, her reviews are helpful. There is studying involved in all classes, and this is no different. It was a very comfortable class. If you come to class, study, you'll be fine.

I recommend having a general interest in the subject before attending the class. If you want an easy science grade, take BIOL 1408, but if you want to learn, take Dr. Orr. You must print off her notes from the web, attend class, and read the text book, and plan on studying at least 10-15 hours a week extra in order to get an A.

Honestly she is a great great teacher. She explains things through, tells you what you need to study for. Lectures not boring, she's really comfortable with the students in the class. 4 tests, with an optional final. Tests are really straight forward. Take notes, show up, listen and tests will be fine. There's extra credit. Very highly recommended!

The best professor I have ever had in all my years of school (4 yrs). Not an easy A. She is very clear of what to expect on the first day of class (pay attention). Study, study. She goes beyond to help if you need it.

Dr. Orr is amazing!!! I had not had Bio in 4 years and she explained everything to where you could understand it. I would recommend getting her for lecture and lab. To make an A you have to study her notes and Ppt. and take really good notes in class. I would highly recommend going to multiple reviews and asking questions.

She intimidated me the first day of class because I'm not a science, but she is awesome! I read the book and took notes religously and got a 100 lecture average. Good teacher, expect to know the material for the exams. She expects you to study 3 hours for every hour in class. I had time to study half that amount and made a B. Do the "Mastering Biology" it will really help on the quiz grade. Quiz grades are bonus points for the exams.I learned a lot from her, she knows Biology.

Biology 1406 is definitely not an easy class. When Dr. Orr tells you 3 hours of studying MINIMUM per hour in class... she means it. LOTS OF STUDYING! She is an incredible teacher. This class is not impossible to pass but it is very time consuming. You will have to study hard for the tests and spend time working on homework. Professor Orr is wonderful at explaining the material clearly and on a level easy to understand. She does require online assignments regularly but they practically give you the answers if you simply watch the animations. The class does require quite a bit of time and some extra studying but its all worth it if you take it with Orr.

Great professor! Get in a study group. Go to all the classes and you should do well. Bio isn't hard, but it isn't easy either. It will take work. There are 4 exams. Homework is online. Google bio questions that will help on exams. You do not have to take the final if you do well on the other exams. She teaches in a fun and clear manor.

I enjoyed being able to email her and she responded the same day. I dedicated at least 10 hours a week to her class, tons of homework, and not very clear on her test question. I took Honors Biology I and Dr. Orr is one of the best professors I have had! She used the flipped class room method with our class and while watching the lectures at home was essential, so was coming to class where you can receive clarification for material that didn't make sense!

Honor, Bio is a hard subject so there is probably going to be 2or3 assignments due each week. Be aware. just watch her videos which are really long but helpful for the IRATs. in the first week of class you are assigned in to groups and while you might not hate them then you probably will by end of semester so just don't depend on them too much.

She has a VERY unique teaching style. She puts everyone into teams that work together the entire semester. Every test is taken twice: once as an individual, once as a team. She allows the class to decide the grading rubric and my advise to all future classes is put as much percentage as you can into the team grade, everyone had a higher team grade

Professor Orr's class is based on small groups assigned on the first day of class. It is a lot of team work and learning. There are is considerate amount of online homework, and her lectures are online as well. You should be prepared for class everyday. Overall very fun and entertaining class, and a totally different teaching style.

I thought she was average. She's not particularly engaging, but does her job well. She walks you through the material and gives tons of examples/analogies on her online lectures. Dr. Orr's classes were based off of teamwork where you first take quizzes individually & then again as a team. She sorta lecture in class, but she provided lecture videos online which really helped. Also, she gave reviews before quizzes so you know exactly what you'll be tested on which also were +5 bonus points on your quiz. Overall, a good class!

The entire class is spent answering questions as groups to gain points. All lectures are only on videos online, so she doesn't really teach in class at all, but the videos are really good. She's a good teacher but she kind of has a bad attitude and gives rude looks to students, but that doesn't really matter anyways.

One of the best courses I have ever taken online. She is very clear on expectations. This is not an easy online class you can just cheat your way through. I was never good with Biology and I am ending this class with an A. So if you a prepared to become a stronger student and actually work for your grade, she is the teacher you want.

Hard class, no busy work, friendly professor.

This was my first class back to College after MANY years! Dr Orr is an AMAZING educator. If youre there to really understand Biology , shes the one for you. You will work hard ! But is all worth it . If youre taking just to get by, then Its not the class for you ! I thoroughly enjoyed her class. She has that wit about her . Highly recommended!

The best professor . Busy class but keeps you on your feet paying attention. Shes had an amazing ability to make you understand Biology. Very passionate about her material, that she takes you on a journey with her. Her lectures are videos on line which I liked because it gives you more time to really grasp it . Her class in Dynamic . Love her!

She is one of the best professors I've ever had! She'll tell it like it is, but she's very sweet and very funny. She's great at helping you understand tough concepts and she really cares about her students.

She is a good professor. The class is team based. So you need to learn the material yourself. Only thing i dont agree with is going over things in class that we have never read or studied, the. Adding it to the final exam. Such as charts. Dont see the point of that.

Professor Orr is by far the best professor I had. She explains things in ways that are super easy to understand, and provides you will lots of supplemental materials to use if you need help. You can get buy without the textbook, but it is very helpful. She also offers extra credit on every quiz.

Dr. Orr is by far the best professor I have ever had. She genuinely cares for her students entire well being and WANTS you to do well. There are numerous opportunities for extra credit, she makes herself available to her students, and though the lecture videos are online, you learn and retain a LOT from in class. I will miss her tremendously!

With an online class you can go at your own pace, but Dr. Orr gives you EVERYTHING you need to be successful. There are helpful homework activities throughout, as well as frequent quizzes and 4 exams. Make sure you pay close attention to messages because she does give extra credit opportunities that are not at all hard. Would definitely recommend

Very sweet lady but the test are very difficult. You take a quiz every week over a chapter. You are put into groups the whole year. To pass her class you need to study and read the textbook because the test are usually over everything. Example: test 1 over ch.1-6, test 2 over ch.1-12. half of the test are ABCD, the other half is writing, drawing

one of the best professors I have had so far, she is a great communicator and really makes sure that the students grasp the concepts and provides a lot of resources for studying. I would definatley reccomend taking this professor!

Professor Orr is a great teacher and very kind. She has a sense of humor, which is nice considering this is a pretty difficult class. You're put into a group for the whole semester, which I actually found beneficial and gives you other people to ask questions to. If you miss class though, your grade WILL go down.

I took her online class and first 1/2 of lab, awesomely organized/clear. You will WORK for your grade! But she gives you the tools you need.I feel like I have learned more in her class than in any other I have taken at Collin. This is *not* and easy A, but if you want to LEARN biology she is the professor for you. I will definitely take her again.

In order to pass the class, you have to read all of the material. If you don't like textbooks, and if you can't be sure of your attendance, then this will be a tough class for you. She is willing to demonstrate and answer questions, and she explains well. I personally loved the class, but it's not for everyone. Still highly recommended!

I failed 2 test in high 50s and final with a 71. You really have to know the material to pass. Do the study guides, ALL the homework on time, show up to class and PARTICIPATE in group activities. All these points add up. Quizzes taken BEFORE class lectures, so be prepared. Shes willing to accommodate you if u have test anxiety.

Dr. Orr was my BIOL 1406 and LAB professor. Overall you need to make sure to work in her class and not procrastinate. The study guides she posted were definitely useful for the tests. This was one of my first BIOL courses I took for college so definitely recommend taking it in person! watch her lecture videos, some are long but they help.

Take her. This is a no brainer. If you care about your grade literally AT ALL you should not have a hard time getting an A. Bonus points on the tests, bonus points for most discussions, etc. Her online lectures are poor quality videos from 5 years ago but shes so good at lecturing the quality doesn't matter somehow?

Dr. Orr is great! Coursework is definitely hard, but she offers tons (and I mean tons) of extra credit. I passed with over a 100. She also is willing and able to explain concepts that are confusing. She generally responds to emails quickly and scheduling Zoom meetings with her is easy. If I could take her again, I'd do it. Sadly she doesn't do 1407
