Professor Romo is an outstanding person. I always looked forward to her class lectures and discussions. She is really approachable and very helpful. Her class consisted of a few basic assignments, daily readings, and a project. I totally recommend her!
Great professor! The class is really easy. There's only 2 quizzes, midterm ,final, and two papers. which are all pretty easy if you study. She tells you exactly what to study for each test. She makes sociology interesting. She's also kind of hot which makes it even better. Definitely recommend her for sociolgy 1
Her class is pretty easy to pass. You just gotta keep up with her lectures. Her quizzes and tests are based mainly on textbook key terms. Shes pretty clear about everything, she gives great examples and makes your critically think. Shes a bit young but very clever. She's not a tough grader at all but if you dont do the work you wont pass either.
This was her first semester at SMC and she was very good. She came from a poor background so she is living examples of a lot of the material that she touches on. Show up and take notes and you should be fine.
Professor Romo is such an inspiration! She relates many of the subjects we discussed to her life and to current events, this makes her lectures very interesting. Show up and take notes! Her lectures are far from boring you will want to attend class everyday! Thank you professor Romo!
Best professor i have had at smc so far. She makes the class interesting and makes you think a lot about our society. This was my favorite class this semester I couldn't wait to get to her class every TTh. She's very clear about what she wants from you. If you are looking for a good sociology class i would totally recommend her!
Amazing teacher, I definately recommend her!!!
Accomplished nothinggained nothing from this class. You play on laptop while she discusses her husband and kids and random topics that come up. Clear that she has no lesson plan. Her class is a joke to take if you want to boost GPA but you will walk out of her class with no knowledge gained.
This class was pretty boring. I would not recommend. There are definitely better instructors to take.
She was really open about her past, made certain topics very interesting, lectures were super boring and long, everything on the powerpoint is pretty much what she says, however She actually grabbed my attention in this class and made me interested in the topic. very very little homework, no pop quizzes, only two essays & not even a full page.
Loved professor romo's socio 34 class. there where times where class was a bit dry but hey its expected from any professor. she was funny, engaging and knew just what to say to keep us fully immersed in class. clear outline of what is expected and what you hope to gain from class i would def take here again.
Professor Romo is amazing. I took her for sociology 34 on a winter semester which is only 6 weeks long and she did not make it hard or stressful at all. The quizzes, tests, and midterms are all easy. Her lectures can be a little over whelming but she tries her best to keep her students entertained. wish i had her for all my faces. She's laid back!!
On the first day, Dr. Romo explained that all professors have personal politics that affect their teaching. She told us why she got into sociology, and we got to know her on a personal level as the semester progressed. She is open and shares her life experiences with her students, and for that I respect her a great deal. She's great. Take her class
I took this course for the Winter Session and I was so sad when the six weeks were over. I really enjoyed her class and found her to be extremely inspirational. I appreciated that she was open about her life and that we got the chance to take about real issues with race that aren't normally addressed. I needed to take her class. Best Class in life
Took scholars socio 1. Nice person, and obviously very passionate about sociology, but incredibly boring. Also, make sure you don't skip class. I skipped twice and didn't particpate much and because of that went from an A to a B (down 7%). Overall, if you don't skip and such like I did, and participate, EASY A. Easiest exams ever.
she pretty dope... i would take her again i got C in my exams but thas cuz i didnt study but the last one i aced so theres like 5 of them and all u need to do is focus on the power points thas it. she very good at wat she do her husband is funny too
Professor Romo is AMAZING. She is so intelligent and real. She uses current media to convey her information and it makes much more interesting that just memorizing terms. I'm honestly sad this class is over. I never thought I would say that about any course. She is clear about grading and what to study. It is not difficult whatsoever. Take her!
She is an awesome teacher! If you pay attention, read the book, and do everything on time, then you'll pass. She is very helpful, and is clear on when things are due. I loved her class. She gives you a study guide for the midterm and final, and if you study it, then the tests are easy. She doesn't give a lot of assignments. TAKE HER CLASS!!!!!!!!!!
I recommend this class! She is a great professor, no homework only tests and quizzes 2 papers but you can easily pass if you try. Not a hard class very interesting! I enjoyed the way she teaches and I would definitely take her class again. :)
She's the best! Her tests are based on key terms from each chapter (lectures are uploaded on e-companion) & she even gives out study guides! There's no reason why you shouldn't pass her class!
She is an excellent Sociology Professor. She looks young, but I assure you that she knows her stuff.
Professor Romo is down to earth & is passionate about sociology. She is generous with her time. 1Her grading criteria is clear cut 4 quizzes 2 papers, midterm and final. If you don't do well on a quiz or midterm(C or lower) you have the option of retaking it if you attend a study session. Overall a very fun class a great professor and an easy A.
great professor! very clear lectures. powerpoints are uploaded to ecompanion. she gives great life examples to connect to lecture and does current events. shes passionate about sociology and the destiny of her students. take her! she's great!
She's honestly the sweetest teacher I've ever had! You'll have a great time in her class and she makes the content enjoyable. Overall, her lectures are clear and if you follow the syllabus (which assignments/quizzes/exams are nicely spaced out) you will easily get an A! What are you waiting for? Add this class now!
Txt: Need for in-class discussions/essays Lectures: the kind that leave you thinking at night :) Prior knowledge? Y&N pls just participate it makes class more interesting, ASK Qs if need! Prof: her story can get you motivated, she actually cares about Soc, she's there if you need her, ties her stuff to current events!, approachable
Lectures are very interesting and thought provoking! Prof. Romo is inspirational and personable, she is always there during office hours and will answer any questions. Take this class !
Her story is very inspirational. My favorite were the "current event" discussion days, but it does require active participation. Won't work if no one talks. I didn't find the book to be necessary (she uploads powerpoints to ecompanion). Don't be afraid to speak up in class--the class gets more interesting the more people participate.
She's very nice. A bit unorganized, but it's nothing you can't handle. She's very understanding. The tests are NOT hard if you read the books (sometimes lets you do group quizzes.) Lectures are interesting.
I love her so much! She's really sweet and super informative. She really knows her stuff. Her lectures were never boring and quizzes and tests were fairly easy. Very inspiring (:
AMAZING! One of the MUST TAKE Professors at SMC if you are in the Sociology or Psychology fields. Dr Romo is passionate and inspires students. She wants you to succeed in class and in life. She is a fairly easy grader for written assignments. Her tests are straightforward. She is a kind and interesting that inspires students by sharing her story.
She's so awesome and sweet! Very knowledgeable and passionate! She's also funny. I loved this course and am taking her again for socio 34.
BEST OF THE BEST!!! REALLY KNOWS HER STUFF
Dr. Romo is amazing! Her lectures are really good and she makes sure everyone understands before she moves on to the next chapter. There are 4 quizzes, 1 paper, midterm and final. Read the chapters, take notes and show up to class and you wont need to put in much more study time. The tests are pretty straight forward.
THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
She is my favorite professor by far! Very passionate about what she does which makes this class very interesting. Don't buy the book! Just show up, pay attention, take notes, study a little and you'll get an A. Quizzes are based off of lectures, gives study guides, and lets you retake quizzes(D or below). Take her class, you won't regret it!
I thought this was an interesting class!! Rebecca Romo is such as sweet professor. She comes to class every day with a positive attitude! Her class is very chill and comfortable. I enjoyed her class. Easy A.
Amazing teacher. You learn so much from the lectures. Class is easy, just pay attention to lectures or read the book(not really necessary, but super informative). Attendance is not that mandatory, but she does take away from your participation points. She takes the time to best explain Sociology concepts.
amazing teacher! would retake and recommend her 100! times doesn't get any better than this professor!
I liked her personally and enjoyed having her as my teacher. However, the class wasn't challenging at all. I didn't feel like I learned anything. I appreciated her kind personality, but I was often bored in the class.
TAKER HER! You will not regret it.. she's my fave teacher so far. she cares about her students and you can learn a lot from her.. JUST TAKE HER! She's the best professor ever!
She was the best ! literally the best ! sure A as long as you study her study guides .
I felt happy to have listened to her share about her past with us. She provides us with the language that is necessary to combat inequality. Also, I think she empowers both females and males alike to strive to make a better tomorrow for every human being on this earth.
She is amazing. You can tell she is very knowledge in her field. Provides lectures sionline, continues to give real life examples relative to the lesson, and very inspirational. Take her class for Socio 1 and with some effort, you'll get an A.
Professor Romo is wonderful! Her lectures are very clear and she is incredibly passionate about the subject she teaches! You have a four quizzes and her notes are more than enough to be prepared(book helps)! If you are planning to take Sociology 1 I highly recommend you to take this class!
Clear lectures and grading criteria. Four quizzes, one paper, one midterm, and one final exam. As long as you review your notes (she also puts power points on eCompanion), you should be fine! Do not just memorize definitions, learn how to apply those definitions to everyday life, too! I loved this professor for SOC 1! Taking her for SOC 31!
Shes a very nice teacher and very helpful. Her class if pretty straight forward. Take advantage of studying using her power points they are very helpful when it comes to taking a quiz. Also, she cares for her students a lot.
She is so awesome and very inspirational. Take her you won't regret it.
she is honestly a very inspiring professor. she is very relatable and cares greatly for her students. very captivating class and would take again
One of the most inspirational professor at SMC!!! She is the reason why I want to pursue a PHD!! Her class is an easy A as long as you study. I took her in the summer of 2016. Study for the quizzes and complete the homework assignments and you're good!
Love Professor Romo! She's so understanding, extremely helpful, & cares about her students succeeding! Her class isn't hard at all, if you put in time to study. Lectures are powerpoints, quizzes and exams are based on the lectures, and she does give out extra credit! She relates the subject by discussing her personal experiences & currents events.
Learned so much! READ THE BOOK AND GO OVER POWER POINTS!
Do yourself a favor and take her class! She is honestly the best teacher I have had so far. Her lectures are amazing and eye-opening. She is very down to earth with her students and really takes the time to help everyone. DO NOT MISS OUT ON TAKING HER COURSE!
Very simple class. Not a lot of points in the class, but so long as you keep up with the slides and study the terms on her study guide, you should get an A. My class fell behind schedule, and the quizzes and tests were readjusted to only include material that we covered in class. Textbook is free online, but isn't necessary to get an A in the class
she a bad teacher do take her for scol1
Well, professor romo's class is pretty straight forward, got the lecture, power point slides, doesnt give that many points, so got to study for it, no homework, totally laid back personality... If you are a sociology major, she is a must take
Amazing!! Lectures are very straightforward. Study powerpoint slides and her study guide and you should be fine! Really liked how she incorporated some of her past personal events with the material. Definitely recommend!
Romo is seriously amazing and I looked forward to her class every day! Anyone who had a different experience in this class is a questionable human being in my opinion.
Professor Romo is great. Im a Socio major and am super happy that I took her intro class. Textbook was available online for free. Make sure that you actively read the chapters assigned. PowerPoints are on Canvas. One paper was assigned. Provides midterm and final study guide. If you get a low grade you can improve by going to soc training program.
Professor Romo is honestly amazing! I definitely recommend students taking her class! Just pay attention and study her slides and you'll be great!
I feel completely free to be myself during class w/ Romo! She is so understanding and addresses real problems in the world. Her class truly opened my eyes and made me see the world from a different perspective. I enjoy class everyday and time goes so quick when you actually like what you're learning. TAKE HER! You'll love it!
Romo is not only an amazing professor, but an amazing person outside the class. She truly is passtionate about teaching those who want to learn, and is open to answer anything or clarify anything. Shes so real! Listen to her lectures, youll learn SO MUCH! Truly a great class, I would take her again in a heartbeat. Thank you for everything Romo!!!
Dr. Romo is the best! easy A if you STUDY! pay attention in class, read the chapters (free textbook online), try out the review questions for each chapter. She gives study guides for the midterm and final only. Her lectures were SO interesting, I would take her again 100%. I learned so many new things from this class.
Romo is hands down the best professor I had this semester. She's so open about her life and it all relates back to the subject at hand which makes the class so interesting. I've never enjoyed a class so much. The workload is straightforward and not difficult at all. Pay attention in lecture, study for quizzes and tests and you'll pass.
If you dont get an A in this class then its completely on you cause this class is honestly so easy its unbelievable. Romo is super chill and very upfront about whats expected 4 quizzes, 1 essay, a midterm and a final.
Best experience Ive had with a professor. Very little work load but I learned a lot. Shes understand and enthusiastic about what she teaches.
Was extremely nice and made class interesting and fun.
Professor Romo, is extremely kind, and open minded. She is not rude, nor boring. Everyone always participates in class, she spoke about many topics that we really need to know about. She is also funny. The exams are 15 questions, and are easy if you study. I will take her class again, she is great. Definitely recommend that you take her class.
Professor Romo is an amazing professor. I would look forward to going to her class because they were so interactive and I learned so much. She doesnt assign homework and the quizzes are really easy. You will pass the class if you show up, pay attention, and participate.
Professor Romo is one of the most amazing and inspirational professors. She cares for her students and wants everyone to succeed. Just study the powerpoints and participate in class. She is so knowledgeable and has opened my mind to new perspectives. Definitely one of my all-time favorite classes!!
Professor Romo, is the best. If you really want to learn about sociology and have an open minded professor take her. She is a very open minded person, and her always contributes from her own life, and lets students talk about real issues and how it relates to her class. Her exams are fairly easy. I loved her class so much.
I started not liking the class but then I lOVED it. she teaches you the real world, thru her own personal experiences, through documentaries, through the lectures, etc. she does not sugarcoat it. I guess I didnt like it because of how upfront she is, but your in college to broaden your mind and understand other and she accomplishes that.
This class was so interesting. She gets easily sidetracked but she uses her own personal experiences to help us understand the material. Current events were always brought up, and she handled tough situations with calmness if students began arguing about tough topics. Quizzes make up most of your grade, but look at the slides before class.
Prof Romo is so great even though spring semester was super tough for me she manged to help me pass her class shes super caring funny and kind.. She cares for her students and wants all of them to succeed... Take her class!!!
Easiest class Ive ever taken at SMC. Class consists of onw discussion per week and two online quizzes 15 questions each.
Professor Romo is reallt nice and caring but dont get fooled by it. She really tries to catch you on the quizzes and if you mess up at all you wont pass the class with an A. I really dont understand why everyone exaggerates about her, But I personally dont really see or recommend her class to someone that doesnt have great memorization skills.
Dr. Romo is an exceptionally valuable asset to SMC! Fun lecture w/ open discussion each class. All materials + study guides uploaded on Canvas (including an awesome free textbook). Quizzes are 15 questions directly from her lecture. Definitely going to take her other course next semester! Dr. Romo really goes out of her way to help you succeed!
Dr. Romo is a gem! Her lectures are interesting, real, and eye-opening. She creates a positive and interactive atmosphere. There are a few assignments and a few fairly generous assessments. She really wants her students to succeed and she welcomes everyone's' opinion. She is also very helpful in her office hours and a great overall person.
Class was taken in summer/online. She provided the book online which meant I didnt spend any money on getting a book. The quiz/test and discussions were super easy as long as you read the required chapter for the week. Class is very easy as long as you do the work required (reading and discussion). Everybody should get an A in this class.
Easy A if you review the material. I would do it the night before. Yes, every point matters which is why you make sure to review and don't forget to turn in the discussion posts or you'll get a B in the easiest class on campus. She follows the syllabus and will adjust it if falling behind. A must for socio/edu majors!
I have recently taken Professor Romo for my Sociology 1. Hearing such great things about her made me take her but in the end she was not the best Professor, she has mood swings and really likes to help hispanic students. I really felt left out in the class and gave it my everything. Her quizzes will burn you if you mess up. Goodlukc :)
Prof Romo is AMAZING! Interesting material, and she presents it in a fun way. I honestly hate sociology but she makes it suck a lot less. Super easy class, one quiz & one discussion board per week.
I took her Socio 1 class, and it was pretty easy. Just do the assignments, and a lot of it is really understandable material. I can't remember if we used the textbook or not, I do remember reading some of it, but it's like $25 in the bookstore. quizzes are based on lectures mostly.
Shes a gem. She encourages participation; her power points are great, and she shows videos. We have tons of discussion and its a fun class that is educational. There are perspectives that I didnt think of before that she brings light too. Shes an inspirational instructor and I encourage anyone to take her class.
The class is set up so that Once a week there is a writing assignment and a quiz. Solid structure, you will learn if you want to and get an A if you do the (easy) work, the teacher engages with the class. It's somewhat fun sometimes if you enjoy sharing your opinions. Solid 10/10
Dr. Romo's classes are a MUST! She is such an incredible instructor who's very knowledgeable and REAL! I took both of her classes and Socio 31 is different than her Socio1 course. There is a research paper that she helps with and in-class discussions. Not too many exams. Definitely take her classes and if they're full, wait till the next semester!
I am glad I took this class because it was very easy and I got a GPA boost from it, but I did not really enjoy it as it was boring. Anyone can get an A in this class. I wish Professor would have been more engaged with us, but it is an online class so I understand. Just one 15 question quiz and 1 discussion a week, but you can everything in 1 hr
There are four 15 MC question quizzes which are extremely easy. Final is not cumulative. Midterm, which is 40?s MC, covers material from week 1-8. Finals, which is 50?s MC, covers everything from week 9-16. Midterm and final are short and simple. Has a short sociological paper that is easy because it has to do with you and not research.
I took her 8 week class. 2 quizzes and 2 discussions every week but they are not hard. I highly recommend you to take her class to boost your GPA and fulfill your GE.
Professor Romo is very inspirational and her class was fun and easy. It's definitely not a hard class and she helps you in any way she can. For her online class there were group discussions and quizzes.
shes a great professor no doubt! You DO NOT have to read the entire book just the summaries in the back of each chapter and you will pass the class like a breeze. Amazing professor she does talk a lot about other things like personal life but honestly it's better then hearing her lecture for so long about boring topics.
Professor Romo's class is an easy A if you read the textbook and follow along in class. Learned even more about our existing social problems. She is definitely inspirational when she discusses her personal life and how she got to where she is today! Great Professor, person, and class overall! Highly recommend her to anyone for any sociology class.
Took her 8 week online course. Easy A class, 2 quizzes and 2 discussions per week. Nothing is dropped (I think). Every quiz questions is either on quizlet or her powerpoints. Do not have to read the textbook unless you need a reference for the online discussions. Highly recommend!
Romo is the BEST professor i have ever had she is very funny, she teaches with real passion, best sociology professor, it is very hard for me to get an A in any course but in her class was i understood the way she taught, her methods, use of real life examples and videos. If I can get an A anyone can get an A, not just an A a great knowledge.
Professor Romo's class was really enjoyable. Pretty standard format as far as online classes go. Midterm, Final, and two weekly discussions and quizzes. She always gives feedback on Monday Check-ins. She's also really easy to get in contact with if you need anything! Super nice too.
Prof. Romo is fantastic. She's very kind & has an amazing personal background that makes her perfectly suited to teach this class. I took this class to force myself to read. I have learnt so much about myself and society. If you want to become a better person, take this class. Easy A. Above all, enjoy & learn. Read e/ ch twice, test Qs are there.
Professor Romo's ONLINE course was not extremely difficult. The topics are very interesting and important, especially today. Be prepared to take weekly quizzes on 2 chapters. Plus her weekly check-ins and discussion. The discussions were enjoyable! She is flexible, but does grade tough. Overall, fun!
Prof. Romo is the best sociology professor at SMC! Each week, be prepared to do two straightforward quizzes and two discussions. She gives detailed feedback on discussions and wants all her students to pass. Also, very responsive for email. No matter if you want to learn sociology or get an easy A, take her!
Took professor Romo for sociology 31 and it was the easiest class Ive taken at SMC so far. Never used the textbook though.
*free textbook* Romo was a super sweet professor, class was extremely easy. She put effort to create interactions outside of class. Recommend 10000%!
Class was super easy, free textbook, kind professor. :)
Prof. Romo is great. I got 89%, but she gave me an A. Free textbook, and few assignments each week.
I would 110% take this professor again! I took this class during the spring and was an 8-week class so yeah, assignments were fast-tracked but it didn't feel overwhelming at all! Super easy and very interesting!
I loved this class. Although it was an accelerated course, keeping up with the assignments was not that difficult. Each week had 2 chapters, a quiz, and a discussion per chapter. The textbook is free.
AMAZING Professor! I wish I had her in person! She was great! She really understands our multiple responsibilities as students during a pandemic, so she made our class optional. Even though it's optional, students still show up because of how interesting her class is. Really approachable, and helpful professor. I wish I had more classes with her.
Just turned in the final and ran to write her review: take her class! she is the BEST, so caring, wants you to learn NOT suffer, took out our research paper to make it an easier week on students, such a positive professor!!!
Prof. Romo is really nice and her class is pretty easy to navigate. My only complaint is I averaged a 95% throughout the semester and one of the last assignments I forgot to complete. It Brought my grade to a 88% and she didn't round or anything so it ruined my GPA...
This class was pretty good. She had lectures but they weren't required and they were recorded. A few discussions and quizzes throughout the semester but they're not hard. I would take this class if you need to take Socio 1
Okay so although I passed with an A, on all the discussions she gave zero feedback or any responses. Seemed like she just graded for completion which was annoying when you worked really hard fro an assignment. Anyways, the workload as a bit time consuming, 2 discussions and 2 quizzes per week. Pretty straightforward.
I took this class as a condensed 8 week course this past Fall and it was good. The assignments included discussions, quizzes and a specific graded discussion portion for participation. Take this class with this professor because you want an easy A for credit rather than actually wanting to learn sociology.
Professor Romo is a great professor! I took her for sociology 1 and I enjoyed her class so much. She talks about relevant topics. She assigns 2 quizzes, a mid term, final exam and a research paper. She gives you study guides as well. Amazing professor would definitely love to take her again.
An absolute sweetheart of a professor. Very thorough lectures and incredibly informative. A lot of the things I've learned were interesting enough to keep me engaged. Teaches both textbook and real world history drawing comparisons. Easy and routine assignments. Tech savvy and incredibly organized. Easy to talk to outside of class as well.
I'd recommend professor romo to everyone, she's genuinely one of the kindest professors. I took her class in person & it was extremely informative and you'll definitely learn a lot. Easy A, consists of 2 short quizzes, midterm, final and a short paper. Theres no hw besides reading which isn't mandatory. Funny, kind, and easy to talk to. Take her !
She is so passionate about sociology! She talks about very excellent points, and she only states the truth! Throughout the course, three quizzes are based on PowerPoint; One midterm is based on PowerPoint, one paper, and then one final exam.
I have taken 3 classes with Professor Romo (SOCIO 1, SOCIO 2, SOCIO 34) I can honestly say she made me change my major to sociology because of how much I loved it, so inspirstional to me and taught real world problems, I wish I can continue taking her classes!
Professor Romo is one of my favorite professors ever and I only wish she taught the next class I need for my major. She is the one of the kindest, most sincere people I've ever met. She does sometimes go off on tangents if that sort of thing annoys you maybe avoid taking her class. But it truly is one of the easiest A's I've ever received.
After reading all of these reviews I thought this class would be a breeze. I was very wrong. Recently, this class has changed a lot, essays were graded VERY harshly (I am a great writer but consistently got C's on essays). If you are looking for an easy class, choose another professor. This is not the class that it once was
loved this class! professor romo clearly cares about all of her students. i really enjoyed the lectures and even if you aren't studying sociology, you will find them interesting. all quizzes/tests were done on canvas, multiple-choice, and open book which was great. only one paper but it was very simple and easy! i highly recommend taking prof romo!
Too simple, I barely learned anything, the slides contain too little knowledge, and Prof spends most of the class open for opinions and thoughts from students which are unnecessary sometimes, it's just too much and unorganized. Don't waste your money and time if you really want to learn.
Truly such a caring professor! Passionate about sociology and her story is inspirational. All her lectures were interesting & even made me (an introvert) want to participate in class. Just read the book, do the study guides and you'll get an A. Definitely go to her office hrs if you want to discuss the chapters or just advice in general.
Overrated. Exams were easy, lectures were not informative, you gotta rely on yourself - study the textbook to do well in exams. I averaged a 96% throughout the sem, messed up on one test that she didn't tell us which chapter to study, which brought my grade to 88% and she didn't round, a B on my transcript ruined the GPA that meant a lot to me.
Professor Romo was awesome! Took her Spring 2022 class. Her lectures are super inspiring and she truly cares about her students. Grades were mostly made up of quizzes and one final paper and final exam at the end of the semester. Really easy class!
She was a very chill professor. I found this class very relaxing and easy to come into and just listen with an open mind. There wasn't a lot of assignments, but the reason I took one star was because, there were many moments I felt the professor was a bit too biased. I would highly recommend.
She is very understanding and her class is pretty easy and information learned is interesting. Highly recommend.
Very chill professor. Has every assigment mapped out for the week so you know when everything is due. Easy class to take online.
Took this class during the summer and it was extremely easy! No zooms and you're just asked to read a couple chapters a week with two quizzes and do a discussion post. Quizzes and exams are very easy as long as you go over the chapters and read her presentations.
One of the best! She always makes her lectures inclusive and up to date. Her quizzes are easy and she gives you so many opportunities to achieve extra credit as well. Highly recommend.
I took her 8-week hybrid course and it was not complicated at all. There was about 12 discussion post, and a few quizzes which were based on the readings. There is not a lot of reading if you're worried about that. Overall, her class is very manageable. TAKE HER.
Super easy class overall with interesting material! Grade consists of 3 short response assignments (on canvas), 2 quizzes, 1 midterm, and 1 final (all multiple choice in-class). Seems daunting but trust me they were all insanely easy, plus she offers extra credit. I HIGHLY recommend taking this class with Professor Romo!
She's the best and always wants the best for her students. She is accessible out of the class and would gladly have small talk with you on anything you want to share. On top of her constant support, her lectures are always interesting and up to date. She gives a lot of extra credit opportunities so I highly recommend
Took her 8 week course, super easy! Not a heavy work load class. I was able to finish all assigments in a day. Class consisted of Reading short pages, discussion post that are normally 200 word count which were extremley easy questions! 15 question quizzes and Midterm/final. Everything was due Sunday which gives you a whole week to comeplete.
She is an easy A, but if you are a Japanese student like me with limited English skills, you must take her class "on-ground" (in-person) Online is difficult to get A for foreigner. If you are a student majoring in Sociology and just want to transfer to UCLA with a 4.0 GPA, her class is perfect for an easy A, "as long as you take it on-ground".
Easiest class ever! I took it Spring 2024, 8-week course. There was 2 short, timed quizzes and 2 discussions each week that didn't take up lots of time. The textbook is very useful for the assignments and she also has lectures you can watch. I got to learn a lot and the workload was a breeze. Take Professor Romo!!
This professor is amazing! I took her for summer (6 weeks course). Her assignments are so easy. the answers are based on the textbook and the textbook is free. The assignments are organized. Discussion are easy and there is no word requirement to respond to other students. Take her, and you won't regret it at all!
40 minutes of lecture for the entire semester! matched quizzes but tough and tricky mid and final exams with questions out of the materials! irresponsible for Zoom meetings and emails. not appropriate to teach!
A fairly easy class be prepared to read took this an eight week course. Two modules a week required 200 word discussions. Quizzes are easy however midterm and final didn't correlate with the material - quizlet answers.
Discussion posts, quizzes, a midterm, and a final. I took it in 8wks and it was really easy just do the work and follow the rubric for discussions.
If you're planning to take Sociology 1 and looking for a teacher professor Romo is the way to go. her lectures are not only engaging but she herself is kind and understanding. 5/5 definitely and amzing professor
Prof Romo's lectures were very interesting because she would constantly ask the class to participate in discussions! The class consisted of a textbook that is free online, quizzes, mid term & final multiple choice in class & one easy socio paper. If you read the book and memorized vocabulary the quizzes and exam will be EASY!
Great and super easy teacher
One of my favorite professors at SMC. There aren't many assignments (besides a paper), so I suggest studying for quizzes, since that's what makes up most of your grade. SO many extra credit opportunities to take advantage of. Overall, really nice professor who wants you to learn and succeed.
Your grade is mostly quizzes and test, so I'll recommend taking notes and make sure you are also keeping up with the reading! She was very kind and very accepting of everyone and lets us know we also have a voice, I'd recommend her! :)
I took her class in the summer, it was flexible so I could choose when to start the homework but the deadline was every Sunday, there is a lot of ready so I suggest you to read at the beginning of the week but over all her class was great
easy to take during summer or winter, i suggest you get it over with, I took this and chemistry during summer and it was stress free, chem was but this class didn't add onto the stress. If you miss an assignment, you can just email her and shell give you partial credit. The quizzes are the main things.
This was a summer course I took, 2 discussion post per week, 2 quizzes per week and an active student lounge to ask question / reply to that's mandatory. I'd say it was a laid back class. I'd highly recommend if you'd want to take this class as it's very easy, just writing ( BUT) that was during the summer.
I first met her for people n society event, and I was amazed so I took her Socio1 class this spring. It was amazing, definitely made the class way more easier. Your grades will be more based on quizzes and tests, so recommend to take notes and really focus on class. Overall great Professor!
I took her short-term Sociology 1 and be ready that it's a really fast-paced course. I guess I didn't expect it and had a lot of missing work, so that's why I ended up with a B:( I once asked her for an extension on the assignment, and she granted it, even though her syllabus says no extensions for this short course. Overall, an amazing teacher!
wonderful professor and very easy. lectures can be a little boring at times but the info. is interesting. quizzes/midterm based on key terms in the online textbook. lots of extra cred opportunities.
Prof Romo is such a caring and sweet Professor!!! My class was quiet sometimes (she called it the gen z stare 😂) but she tried to get us out of our shell for group discussions, etc. I personally think she's very clear with lectures, talks about important topics, and her tests are easy. She's caring and wants you to succeed. :)
