Professor Shevlin is delightful and hilarious. Tells great stories about her quirky experiences. Very into what she does, but just an ok teacher. She likes having fun with the assignments. Quizzes before class on assigned reading. Annotated bib, poem analysis, and research paper. Easy grader. Not helpful in class, but one on one, immensely helpful!

She is fantastc. She's very helpful, funny, and quirkey. She makes Comp II interesting. My favorite professor at Valencia so far.

Our first professor left 1/4 way through the semester and Ms. Shevlin stepped in afterwards and no one knew what was going to happen. She made the transition smooth and painless. Yes she gives a lot of work, but in the end it will make you a better writer and thinker. And she is very open to helping out. Trust me, you will really enjoy her class.

Prof Shevlin is such a sweetheart and she makes her writing standards very clear and attainable. If you know the basics of writing, she is perfect for you! She teaches you how to cite, and it's very important you know how to do that perfectly. Her writing is fun though and her final is AWESOME!!!

Professor Shevlin was one of the first professors I had at Valencia and definitely one of the best! She is so helpful and kind and wants to have a relationship with all of her students! I still see her and talk to her when I'm waiting for other classes to start. Just be sure to read any homework because some people didnt and everyone was kicked out

If you want a class where you want to learn and not fall asleep, then definiely take her class. She's funny, and as long as you get the work done i don't see how anyone won't be successful. She is helpful, and answer all you questions. I love that class and i recommend it to anyone.

Shevlin grades quite harshly. She is willing to help though. I was doing good in the class until the research paper that was 400 points. I swear I did good, I did all my annotated bibs and everything, but at the end got a D. So much work for a grade that made me fail the class. Take her if you're serious about the class. If you need help, ASK!

I didn't like that 60% of grades earned in last 2 weeks of class. Final paper worth 40% of grade so you won't know how you're doing until semester ends. I did learn a lot though and she's great

LISTEN. Professor Shevlin is a SWEET, NICE lady BUT she is also HARD. Don't take her for 1102 if you want an easy A, there are many other professors who are probably much easier. If you want someone passionate about their work and to be CHALLENGED take her. Tough grader, two HARD (pointless?) online tests, weekly discussions and 4 papers in total.

Prof. Toole cares a great deal about her students and the material that she is teaching, but she will not take any crap. If you are still of a high school mentality, where you think that you can breeze by with no effort, then you might want to look for another professor (and seriously rethink your academic priorities while you're at it).

ENC1101 was great w/ Toole, so I decided to take ENC1102 with her as well. ENC1102 has only 3 papers- the first two were short essays, &amp; a long time working on the final (research) paper. I took this class for summer so things were a little sped up. What I can say is she provides very thorough feedback and makes it easy for you to see what you need to improve for your next assignment or paper. Participation and attendance are required even online. She works with you well if you try but dont expect to do nothing and pass.

I had taken Freshman Comp 2 with her over the summer. My Freshman Comp 1 teacher was the worst professor I have ever had, so I was scared I wasn't gonna do well in this class. But this teacher was so patient and really helped me improve my essay writing, she was always really nice and gave constructive criticism.

This online class is so easy. She is very organized and always releases the assignments early so you can get a head start. She always assigns dicussions and journals which are due thursday and then an &quot;essay&quot; which soemtimes is not an essay, just answering a few questions and then after a quiz which is generally 5 questions and is online. This class is pretty easy but you really need to be on top of yourself. Do not expect an easy A, you need to work hard for it. There are two essays but she gives you assignments beforehand to get you ready for it. She is a great teacher and gives great feedback, she really wants you to succeed.

Professor Toole is an excellent English teacher. I enjoy taking her class for the spring semester. She did give many assignments, for example, two assignments on Thursday (Discussion and Reflection) and one assignment on Sundays (Short Essay). There was one 4-page essay assignment. But, the assignments did help enhance my research paper skills.

I took Toole for ENC1101 and 1102 because of how much I liked her! She always gave great feedback and was worried about her students' success always. The assignments were never super tough and the class was honestly enjoyable!

I took the summer course which was a mixed mode class. 1 day in class the rest of the time you could go over modules on your own. Usually you would go over a module and then go over it in the next class. Quick to respond to emails.

She is very caring and understanding, whenever I had an issue and couldn't turn something in on time, she would give me extra time if necessary. Best english professor I've ever had! And the work is fairly easy, nothing crazy difficult. Take her, you won't regret it!

Because this is an honors course, we had to do a research paper but it was compiled over many weeks. The workload was a lot but manageable at the same time. The teacher was very understanding, as I submitted a few assignments late but still got full credit. She answers emails quickly and is very helpful.

Prof.Toole is kind and you can tell she is very passionate about teaching. Her assignments and modules are well organized and understandable. Her grading strictly follows the rubric and she'll leave valuable feedback on every major assignment. If you are taking her in person, you'll have to socialize with others a lot, keep that in mind.

I took Prof. Toole in mixed mode, she is an understanding professor, good at replying to emails, and is lenient on late work if explained why it was late. The only negative thing about her is that she has a pre-class and post-class activity in every module aside from the assignments for the module.

If writing isn't your strongest subject, take Prof. Toole! Simple grading rubric and interesting topics!

Mrs. Toole is a good professor very understandable and caring. But beware of all the homework she gives. You will get a pre activity which is due every week before class and a post class assignment which is a lot to handle. The workload is very intense and do not take her class if you can not handle it. Great professor overall!!!

prof toole is the nicest and sweetest person, but be aware. there's 2 assignments every week of the semester. every week theres a 2 page paper due on sunday. it is manageable but not super easy if you have a job or other responsibilities. there's discussions due every thursday. no extra credit but she accepts late work if its not older than a week.

Professor Toole is a very caring teacher. You do need to keep your homework up to date, but if by any chance you start falling behind, she'll be very supportive and understanding and try her absolute best to assist you. I definitely recommend her class

I took Professor Toole online for the Summer 2024 semester and I don't regret it! She is an amazing professor and is super supportive with students. Loved taking her class and made writing a fun learning experience for me! There is a writing assignment due every week, but it is manageable. She gives good writing prompts, so it makes writing easier

PROFESSOR TOOLE IS THE BEST ENGLISH PROFESSOR I'VE HAD!! OVERALL, THE CLASS IS NOT TOO DIFFICULT, ONE PAPER A WEEK BUT SHE GIVES A LOT OF REALLY HELPFULL TOOLS TO HELP YOU SUCCECED. SHE IS VERY VERY CARING AND UNDERSTANDING OF SITUATIONS, I WOULD 100% TAKE HER AGAIN IF I HAD OTHER ENGLISH COURSES!! SHE EXPLAINS EVERYTHING VERY CLEARLY.

Nice and caring teacher, she has a video explaining each module. Which consisted of a discussion and a paper/essay. Towards the middle end of the course it only focuses on a research paper, which does become peer-reviewed. While there was a lot of writing (naturally) it was overall a really easy course. She is also really easy to communicate with.

Professor Toole is an excellent ENC1102 instructor. Her assignments are manageable, and she provides great feedback. unstuck study was a helpful study tool alongside the course materials. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend for ENC1102, Professor Toole is great and the course was manageable. The workload generally consisted of 1 discussion post and 1 writing assignment per week, which she didn't grade very harshly. Professor Toole responded quickly to emails and you could tell cared for her students even in an online setting.

Prof. Toole was amazing! She has everything you need in the corresponding modules and gives good feedback. She does a discussion post every week a written assignment due at the end of the week. It may seem like a lot, but trust me, it isn't difficult at all&#8212;coming from someone who procrastinates lol. I would definitely recommend her!

She is a great teacher, very passionate about english. I took her mixed mode class and attendance was mandatory for credit in the pre-class activities. I would take her class again but not in mixed mode, there was not enough time in each meeting and she would use that time to talk about different material than what we needed for the assignments.

Sweetest human ever. She truly loves what she does and will make the class enjoyable. She is very understanding and flexible, and gives useful feedback; if you want clarification on her feedback you can ask her as well. If you want a prof that will challenge you while allowing you to take your time then I suggest you take her.

Professor Toole was such an amazing Professor. She really did grade as how her instructions said. You can tell she loves teaching and will give you feedback as soon as she can for your questions. Some essays may be more tough than others so really try your best!

amazing! 1 video discussion + 1 writing assignment per week on avg. very kind, gives good feedback, simple and engaging material and she is very sweet and understanding. workload sometimes got a teensyy bit lot but overall it was manageable and very easy to get a good grade on. ended with an easy 97! i would very highly recommend prof toole :))

I was out of the country (in India for summer vacation) and started late, but Professor Toole was so understanding and helped me catch up. She's kind, clear, and supportive. One of the best professors I've had and I highly recommend taking her class :)

Professor Toole is a very nice and helpful professor! Workload was one discussion post (response due thursday, 2 replies due sunday) and a writing assignment (due on sunday). She always gave reminders for assignments and sometimes provided example submissions which are really helpful. Provides clear instructions and easy to follow steps.

She is an amaizing professor! If you can, take her. That was the best online course that I've ever taken. Her course is extremely organized,replies emails very quickly, no heavy theoretical content, just the key points to remember when writing. Each week you have 1 discussion and 1 writing assignment, and the honors project is separated over weeks.

Extremely caring and very passionate about writing, easy to meet with on zoom for discussions about your work. Weekly papers due which would take about 3-5 dedicated hours of my time to do in one sitting. I don't think she's a tough grader, she simply expects college-level writing and dedication. Final exam is a portfolio! She wants you to pass!!

This was honestly the best ENC Professor I have ever had. This is my first time writing a review on here and I am in my third semester going on my fourth. If you have trouble writing or forming thoughts on how to approach an assignment, she is very helpful. 100% recommend.

I had Professor Toole for CRW2001 and had a good time. It is a easy class with fun assignments that help you discover creative writing. Gives feedback quickly and explains how/why she took points off.

Professor Toole is a very kind teacher who provides very clear instructions. She is super accessible, grades quickly, and gives very good feedback. There is a 500 word essay almost every week and a big project at the end, but it is all broken down very well. She is super kind to her students and makes them feel valued and supported. 10/10!
