Mrs. Wong is a great teacher! She makes it easy to understand complicated mathmatical concepts and is always willing to help students who need it!
The class is pretty easy overall, and the lectures are clear. Sometimes unhelpful, though.
She is a great teacher!! She really makes Math understandable by putting things in plain English and going over the "big picture". She is always willing to help and explain things again and again.
I never opened read the book. Just write down everthing she writes on the board and you will be able to answer every homework and test problem. I Got a 94.5% in the class.
she is a really nice person! she explains it all really easily and clear
Horrible teacher. Tries to be funny but comes out anal. Tries to make you think she cares but she doesn't. Hate the stuck-up ****. BTW, I got an A in the class...
Teacher had great press, but reality was horrible. She was extremely condescending! Acted like she was always available, but when you tried to follow up, she would say she was too busy. Asked if there were questions, but then would not answer them! Phony!
Rebecca does not answer all questions, especially if she feels that she's beating a dead horse. I found her to be very helpful but her personality may not work for those who are sensitive and have trouble with math.
Awesome teacher!!! Would reccommend to anybody, and nice and easy going as any teacher ive ever had. Nothing but good things to say about her, most other math teachers ive had are weridos, but she is quite normal and just great! She made stats seems easy
She is a very good teacher that helps her students learn statistics. You gives you calculator instructions so you wont get lost. Explains each problem step-by-step. Takes her time in teaching the problems especially to those who do not understand.
Ms. Wong is a great teacher. I was worried about taking statistics, but she made the class fun and easy. I wish she taught all my classes. She is very helpful and will go over problems until the class is comfortable doing them.
awesome teacher. Very clear, helpful. Doesn't go on until the class completely understands. I recommend her to anyone taking math. If you have ever struggled in math, she will make it easy for you.
She’s a good teacher. Grade is based on 4 tests and final, which you get to use 1 page of notes on each test. Take good notes and you will do well.
she is not a good teacher. she doesnt answer all the question her test are vary hard. she goes so faston everything. well i always get good g8 and in this class i got F first time in my life. Dont take her if english is ur second lang...
Wow, it seems either people love or hate her. I think she is fantastic. You get a cheatsheet for each test, take good notes, study, and you cannot do poorly. I think she is very clear, but cannot say for students who have difficulties with math.
Rebecca is very clear with what she wants you to know and what will be on the test. U get to use a cheat sheet on every test which helps a ton. I'm okay in math, and I really enjoyed this class. She relates it to the real world, which makes it easier to understand. Responded fast to my e-mails. Nice
wong is such a good teacher. her way of teaching is very easy to understand because she teaches step by step. she does not give alot of hw prob. if you do the hw and show up to class, you will do well on the test. the test is exactly like the hw, no suprises. i would take her class again. she nice
My friend told me she was easy and cool. After taking her night class for about 2 months, she bagan to be bias and held a grudge against me because of her assumptions, and she also graded my work unfairly. . .
best math teacher i ever had! very helpful and clear. Her method of teaching is great. Whatever appeals to you, she will give you examples.
She loves A & B students, if you are struggling in the class though, I do not think she is that great. At times a question could have been answered very quickly, but she refused because we had already gone over it. I got an A but I can people getting very frustrated in her class.
she is NOT a good teacher. she doesn't answer all the question, her test are VERY HARD. she goes so faston everything. I always get good grades in math but I got C in her class. DO NOT take her....I highly recommend
Rebecca is an awesome teacher! Her lectures are extremely clear and thourough! She gives out a review sheet before every test which helps a lot, and she is more than willing to help people during her office hours! I would recommend her to anyone and I would take her again if I had the change too!
VERY clear teacher. she knows the material very well and if you go to her office hours she is very helpful. if math isn't your strongest subject take her.
She is the best math teacher i have ever had, if you like structure shes good, you turn homework in everyday, and the tests are just like the review sheets so if you do and understand the review you have it made!
She brings a lot of fun little projects into her teaching...it isnt just taking out your calculation and crunching numbers
She is very clear in the way she explains the material. She is very helpful if you use her office hours. She like to keep the class moving on and does not like to spend a lot of time repeating old material. All in all, I would recommend. She is easy to understand and the homework and tests are not that hard. You are able to learn.
I think she's very clear and thorough. I had struggled with math in the past but with her, I really understood. If I ever need another math class, I will take it from her!
Ms. Wong is an excellent teacher. She is very responsive to questions both in and outside the classroom. If you do the homework and take her advice on how to study, do extra credit work her class is very easy to get thru (along with a good grade). I highly recommend her.
This is the second time i have had this teacher. The first time i had her she was great and i understood her. It didnt matter that she wasnt helpful. This time it was much harder because she didnt help you unless she felt like it. IF you take her make sure you ask all your questions in class and you will be fine. she is the best math teach though
Extremely helpful, and easy to understand. Would like to stay with this teacher through all math.
great teacher, helpful, clarity, one on one help if needed! would deffinately recommend.
I thought Mrs. Wong did a great job. I was not looking forward to taking Calculus, but it actually became one of my favorite classes of the semester.
This is the best math teacher I've ever had! I would recommend her to everyone. She allows notes for the tests. Easy to understand and very helpful.
she explains everything very long explainations...but in some ways some wouldnt understand...exams are hard...most of the class dropped...sometimes hard to understand...if your like me go take another instructor...alot easier...
Stats was a relatively boring subject. She made it interesting and helps you learn to apply them to real situtations that are not in a textbook.
She is a really nice woman. She didn't cancel the class one time all semester, and gives points for attendance and homework. if you miss one day, you miss alot. lessons are very clear and she always answers questions before and after homework assignments. she can get annoyed with some people, but she is mostly very nice and understanding.
DO NOT TAKE HER. There is many good calculus teachers in WV you dont need to take her. She goes really fast, and the worst thing that drived me crazy it was tha SHE DOEST EXPLAIN THE WHOLE PROBLEMS HW OR CLASS PROBLEM SHE ASSUMES THAT EVERY BODY UNDERSTANDS WHERE SHE LEAVES THEM. SHE DOESNT EXPLAIN WELL AT ALL.
Rebecca is the most amazing math teacher ever! You have to be a complete idiot not to understand her when she does every single step on the board. Pay attention, do the work, and you will ace her class! She answers all questions in thorough detail and gives extra credit on the tests and allows you to fix the missed problems on a test for e.c!
Great teacher. She used to teach 8th grade and it shows. She is very "gentle" with students and presents information in manageable bites. Tests and quizzes seem to always be a little easier than you expected. Attendance isn't mandatory but she check homework first thing, so if you are late or don't show you don't get the points.
Teacher is hard. Assignments are intense. You must do ur homework & study hard to pass this class. Encourages questions but answers them condescendingly at times. Students appear intimidated tho she is quiet spoken in nature. Teaches too much info. at 1time. If ur not a math whiz, get a TUTOR. Allows extra pt. make ups on quizes and 1 cheat sheet.
Not a fun teacher at all. Went to go see her for office hours and wouldnt let me come in until the exact minute of ofice hours started. When asking her a quesiton she thinks you know the answer, but doesnt realize your asking the question because you dont know the answer. Stubbornly quiet...
3 weeks until the final- the clock is ticking- we only have 27 people left out of 40 in our night class-T Professor Rebecca Wong knows her stuff, and she expects you to know it almost as well-"check your notes" is the quote of the day. Not enough office time to discuss things you don't understand. Be prepared- this class will suck the life out of y
wong is not helpful at all. i was gone one day and copied someones notes. i asked her for help but she said "look in you notes," and then she asked me the same question back at me.
If you are not a math major, stay clear of Ms. Wong! She welcomes questions, then makes you feel stupid for asking them. Don't be shocked to hear deep sighs and see rolling eyes in response to your legitimate questions. If your confidence level isn't high going in, it will be crushed coming out! Made it out with passing grade but totally drained!!!
I took the stats course over the summer and she was great. There was minimal homework, she handed out a review for the tests and she went at a slow pace for a summer course. She used real life examples which really helped explain things... good teacher
I had Ms. Wong for both finite and stats. She is a great lecturer and is great at explaining how to do the problems. You only truly need to the text book for homework problems. Just make sure to do homework and come to class and you should be fine. Also in stats you get a page of notes for your tests. There is some extra credit offered also.
She's a good teacher, but if you struggle with math, I don't recommend her. She gets a little impatient when simple questions are asked and that can be frustrating to some. If you're a math person or you pick it up pretty well, she's a good choice. She gives easy tests and quizzes, just brutal homework at times.
Good class to take if you just completed Math 106, so the math is fresh in your mind. She writes out the notes clearly on the board, and even recommends how to write your notes for the test. As long as you keep up with the notes and the homework, you will pass this class for sure. All work was calculator functions; no handwritten formulas;so nice
I liked her teaching style. She made notes easy, just copy everything she writes, she goes through calculator functions, and she was not difficult to understand.I took the class over summer and got a B+.She appreciates those who come to class always and turn in homework. If you dont, you might get the rolling eyes and sighs others have talked about
Beginning of class she asks if you have questions re: Hw and when you do ask her, she ignores it! If she doesn't like u she will make sure u get it through how she grades you on tests/ quizzes. Good teacher though!
Good teacher; bad policies. Her teaching method makes grasping the material easy, although there is a lack of interactive learning. Policy-wise, her grading is far too technical, taking many points for the smallest error even if you have shown a substantive understanding otherwise. Also, VERY anal on showing work - as if this is Alg. and Calc.
The biggest caution is her grading. Be sure not to make any mistake and to SHOW ALL WORK. When she grades, she is not neutral; she practically grades as though her job is to find a reason to take points. So points are often taken for the smallest thing even if you get the correct answer.
Wong, seems to actually dog you when she doesn't like your question. She will turn her head and actually ignore you and just say look at your notes. She does not show the problems from begining to end. Well she shows you it once but you will never see her do it again. I went to her office hours and she didn't even bother meeting eye contact with me
Rebecca is a wonderful teacher, i have her for many math classes and she likes students who are in class and not leaving class. she knows when people are really trying and when they are not. She doesnt like it when a student asks a question to something she just answered, but who does? you werent paying attention so why should she explain again.
Her lectures were pretty interesting and the best part was for all quizzes, she let us use a 8.5 x 11 cheat sheet. I just put everything I learned from her lectures on it and got an A on her all her tests. There is quite a homework load but she is a really good teacher. For someone who hates math and is slow at it, I really liked stats.
If you anxiety ridden when it comes to Math, take Professor Wong. She is awesome! She goes over everything and explains hard problems so that they actually make sense. She also teaches new ways to do old things, that make it easy. I thought I was bad at math, but I have an A+ in her class. I am definately taking her for Stats!=)
Hated Monday classes and tried to get us to drop. She does not handle questions well and not very thoughtful. Group work at the end of every class to ensure attendance. Teaches to the very end of every class. Strict. Uses the calculator alot, gives good notes and allows 1 page of notes for every test.
not very good, doesn't handle questions very well thinks by having power pts notes that every one get it but doesn't like to explain her notes as she half time has trouble with them if u have patients take if not take another
really nice teacher, soft spoken. Do the work, stay focused and you will do fine. Plus you get to have a page of notes for every exam and 2 pages for the final plus extra credit, there is no way you can't pass this class.
Took this course over the summer and I am currently at a UC. I can honestly tell you she is a GREAT TEACHER. Her teaching style is unique and it's something I can follow. For those of you that are saying she's hard, you guys need to study more. The professor here sucks even more. He doesn't even go into detail like she does. Seriouslyagoodteacher.
People said this was supposed to be one of the hardest Math classes on campus, but Mrs. Wong made it surprisingly easy. I was with her on whatever she said. If you don't understand something she is more than willing to help you out with it even out of office hours. Not like other teachers who just read off of their notes. Really understands content
She is an extremely easy teacher!Attend her classes and listen to her and you would definitely get an extremely good grade in that class.
I took her for Summer it was pretty simple, 3 tests, 1 final and homework was avg 3/5 problems a night. You will be an expert ti-83/84 with out knowing it. simple the way she teaches step by step. You get a cheat sheet for tests and front back for final. I don't even like math and I passed this.
I took wong for 4 diff math classes. shes awesome! i miss her! if you go to her office ours frequently and show her you care she will meet you more than half way. do all of the hw even tho they are only 2 points, it only benefits you for the quizzes and tests. very sweet teacher. highly recommend.
Great teacher. I took her class one day per week and she adjusted her teaching for that. She is always willing to help students in and out of class. She also puts her own curve on lessons in class so your not learning right out of the book. I will definitely recommend this teacher for stats if you havent taken her already. :)
DO NOT TAKE THIS COURSE WITH THIS TEACHER, YOU WILL BE WASTING YOUR TIME, MONEY AND SANITY!!! YOU WILL ONLY BENEFIT IN THIS LIFETIME FROM HER BEING AWAY FROM YOUR EXISTENCE!!!
PLEASE, reconsider your educational options. This teacher is inconsiderate of her students while holding herself above them. She skips steps and is lazy when she is supposed to be following the correct steps to solving the problems, which in turn often causes much unneeded work and confusion for her students. Save your time and your money.
I tried so hard to get into her class due to a recommendation by the counselor for her being a helpful, understanding teacher toward students with learning disabilities; but sadly we were wrong. It was hard to concentrate, Ms Wong made it intimidating to ask for clarification, and she was very inconsiderate. Also confused us with her techniques
This glad is incredible difficult and she does not make it any easier. She seems like a sweet little lady but she's really not nice at all. She kills you with kindness and will make you feel like a fool in front of the class. She often refuses to reason with you on test scores and is completely unreasonable. Don't bother taking this class with her.
very clear. great teacher.she does collect hw,but no problem its calc! u have 2 do hw!lenient on test, she will let u redo the problems u got wrong.i always recommend this teacher! :)
Shes is a nice lady but she grades WAY TOO HARD! If you get the right answer but show your work wrong even when she doesnt clarify what shes looking for, you will get minus 3 out of 4. She kips lessons and cancels quizzes or homework and says "oh well" about the points. Almost impossible to get an A. You cant miss ANY classes. WONT TAKE HER AGAIN!
She can be a bit edgy at times, but she does want you to succeed in her class. She grades pretty fairly, but sometimes she's unclear on what she wants from you. Overall, not a bad teacher.
If you are not math oriented, or take awhile to catch on, don't take her. She is not understanding to those who take a longer time comprehending the subject and doesn't work with you much at all. She's very sweet in class, but won't go out of her way for you to help you succeed at all. She's also a very hard grader on tests.
Im not sure what the past few reviewers are referring to because Rebecca is the absolute best. Her teaching style is easy to follow. Go to every class,do all your hw and study mildly for each exam and u will earn an A. If u dont like her its probably because u didnt care about doing well in the course in the first place.NO ONE should fail her class
I'm taking a summer stats class with Wong and am very grateful for her as a professor. Not sure why people are saying she's a tough grader, I think she grades very fairly and understandingly. She explains ideas and concepts clearly and ensures you understand WHY you're doing something to help you learn better. She has a great sense of humor, too.
Mrs. Wong is the best math teacher I have had at WVC. I took her in 106 and Math10 and enjoy her teaching style very much. She is always willing to answer questions and there is not a lot of homework or extra studying to do. I definitely recommend her!
Her teaching method is excellent. She's very helpful when we don't understand a problem. She's certainly patient when her students ask a lot of questions.
Don't take her during the summer!
Do not take her class during summer if you're not a math whiz. Tests are NOTHING like the examples she goes over in class.
She is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Her classes are simple, her tests are easy! She is not going to give u examples from text as a test problem but I actually found the test problems easier. She is fair in grading, clear in explaining and extremely helpful! I took the summer class under her and I really enjoyed it!
Took her summer course and got an A. She is a good teacher and her tests are simple as long as you make use of the notes your allowed bring and know which calculator command to use. She is helpful and very approachable. The homework load was about an hour a day even though it was a summer course. Overall I am very happy I took her for Stats.
Best Teacher Ever!!! i hated math before i took her class and now i love it and better yet understand it! She is very clear. Her teaching method is awesome. Take her class!!!
If you aren't good at Math, you have to take Rebecca. It's an easy A if you attend all of the sessions. All of her notes are on ANGEL, she does a review before each test, & the review & the test are alike. She uses MyMathLab which is also helpful. I highly recommend her.
DON'T take Rebecca for Math 10. I recommend her only for Math 103 & 106, NOT Math 10 though.
She really helped me with all the different things you learn in math. I've learned more in 2 semesters of her class then I have learned in 4 years of high school.
I LOVE MRS WONG!!!! take her for all your math classes if you can!!! i took math 103, 106 and 10 with her and was able to get good grades in all of them! she is very kind and very helpful. she really wants to see her students do well and is very patient with those who need extra help. highly recommended!
Awesome teacher for any math class you need to take. Very helpful, very patient and very clear explanations. She will go over it until you completely get it. Took Rebecca Wong's classes for 902P, 106R and Math for Elementary Teachers.
Great teacher! she is indeed very helpful. and explains everything really well.
She was a really good teacher in 103 and 106, but she wasn't very good for stats. I was only able to pass because I knew her teaching style.
I received an A in this class despite how awful of a instructor she was. She is also a hard grader so you have to make sure your answer is perfect or face not getting a point at all. Another reason to not take her is for the fact that she is just an awful person. She would berate her student in front of everyone because they don't get the material.
One of the best math teachers I have ever had! She is easy to understand, and if you get stuck on a topic, she'll explain it in a different way. Allows you to correct your mistakes on tests and get extra credit points. In addition to math, she also studied psych, so she understands different learning processes. Love her! (Fall Session)
Hands down the best math teacher I have ever had. She is a difficult grader but she explains all the material with the utmost clarity. As long as you go to class you will learn the material and do well on her tests. I highly recommend Mrs. Wong.
I toke stats with her during the summer. It's not as bad as I thought considering i hate math. She teaches very good and her tests are straight forward and she doesn't try to trick you. I learned a lot and I managed to get an A. It does take effort but you also can use a cheat sheet when taking the test. Overall I would definitely recommend her
Hated math before her. She's the one teacher that actually made me understand math and not get confused. Her test are like her reviews and she gives you extra credit all the time. She's awesome.
Math 14 wasn't your average math class so many students struggled. After our midterms she gave out our test back and said she didn't understand why the class average was low because she taught everything to us "Perfectly". She assumes her teaching has zero flaws so she passes the blame onto the students. She was of no help so we studied in groups.
Wong is an incredible math teacher. She teaches you the easiest ways to solve the problems, didnt make us remember equations and was very clear on what to expect on quizes and tests. I recommend her for anyone who has had trouble in the past. She will change the way you view math. Expect nightly hw, but it will help solidify the material.
Wong is the best! If you do your homework, you will get an A. Plenty of opportunities to get extra credit and she is so understanding. If you think you can do any math class without showing up or doing homework, you're mistaken!
One of the best teachers I've ever had. The pacing of the class is slow enough for everyone to learn the material and fast enough to keep the class interesting. As long as you show up to class, you're in a good position seeing that she spends a lot of time making sure all her students understand not only the material but also how it is applicable.
She will kill you with kindness (acts nice but not), calls you out if you're wrong, very tough grader; No Make-up, one simple error on your Ts/Qs and she will mark it wrong. Her Ts/Qs questions isn't the same as the book, she makes them. LOTS of HW, 4Qs, 4Ts, 1accumulative Ch1-12 final. Not a refresher class, get tutor. (TTest, QQuiz)
I would take another instructor if you expect to learn. She's just plain rude.
3 tests (80 pts each/50% of grade) and a final exam (100 pts/20% of grade) consisting of Ch. 4 and a summary of what was learned. Gave a sneak preview of 3B, which made me not want to take it unless I had to. 4 quizzes (20pts/15% of grade). HW (worth 15%) is collected every Monday or Tuesday. Uses notes she made on a Word Doc. She made Calc easy.
Before taking this class I thought that she is a good math teacher. But She does not explain math very well and she assumes that everybody knows the material. I don't recommend taking Math 3A with her. If you really want to learn the course materials you have to study by your own!!!!!!!!
She is a really good teacher. She knows her information and is willing to go over addition examples if needed. She lets you use a cheat sheet for exams.
Math is my worst subject and I was worried I would struggle in this class. Somehow she made Stats interesting and always tied it back to real world stuff. She's conscious of the amount of homework she assigns
Worst teacher I've ever had at West Valley. The things that bothered me the most about her are: constantly canceled her office hours, right before exams. Was very condescending all the time.. said things like "why don't you guys get it? I taught perfectly", "it scares me that you can't understand this" etc. Refused to enter points until end of sem.
Here's the thing, if you show up and act like you don't care about your grade then she won't either. I found that by using the examples she wrote on the board and practicing them 3 times until I got each math problem right really helped. She gives practice quizzes and tests and also has extra credit available. I passed with a B+ and I hate math.
Professor Wong is a nice person but for teaching Math she is not going to be the best. Her lectures were a mess, pointless and done in 10 minutes. You'll be bombarded with hard homework but you wont see those in the exam. You should jump through hoops in order to pass this class and hoping that you wont receive a D let alone hoping for an A.
The highlights: fast, brief and all over the place lectures with no clue what so ever. You will end up reading the book, teach yourself and do tons of assignments, even the assignments are in a very confusing pattern that will make it a nightmare. Examinations and grading are not fare and youll be surprised with new questions in the exam.
Professor Wong is truly an outstanding teacher. I took Stats online and enjoyed learning from her. The materials on Canvas are clear and well organized. She is calm and speaks with clarity. This is very important for me as a student. She is encouraging and an effective educator. Prof Wong is truly dedicated and passionate to her profession.
I took Professor Wongs online Math 10 course and I would take her class again. As long as you do the homework which is pretty easy, and study a little for the test youll be fine. I recommend her hybrid course because it is easy to clarify questions and get in touch if you need.
I found this online course a lot easier than my other Statistics courses. She gives you very similar problems on the test to the homework. Each week you have: 1 discussion post, around 10 Statlab questions, a few 5 question check your understanding of the section quizzes, and a problem set (easier than the statlab questions). She's down to earth:)
If you pay attention you will pass. Each class has mini group assignments. Exams are easy if you have been understanding the material. Available outside of class for help. Transition to online was pretty smooth and had online exams. Synchronous classes were engaging and her tech setup is pretty good for a prof. Would take again in a heartbeat.
The class that Professor Wong taught was definitely an easy A; she's really understanding and lenient. For me, it was a little too easy and fell into a cycle of laziness. She won't hold you accountable so you've really gotta self-discipline, which isn't a bad thing, but if you're bad at that, I wouldn't recommend this particular professor.
Rebecca is truly a sweet lady. She has everyones best interest, but she can be somewhat passive aggressive at times. Her class is homework heavy and time consuming. She offers a lot of extra credit as well and test revisions which extremely helps and wants you to pass, so if you are struggling, email her and she will have your back.
Great professor. Helpful during office hours. There were three exams and one final. Only the final was cumulative. Has HW's once a week and only about ten problems. The only thing is that there is a problem set assigned each week that you must do with a partner and it is sometimes hard to get in touch with them. Take her for stats she is great.
Honestly, I feel like she didn't give a lot of support to the people who were actually trying in her stat class. Most of the lectures were super confusing, and also most of the students in my group didn't even understand the classwork and she was also kind of mean when it came to checking work. My experience with her wasn't the best.
Straightforward and nice professor. If you need help, contact her and she'll work with you. The Online async class has online homework every week, weekly lessons are a textbook summary (easy to read), and a problem set that you must complete with an assigned partner every week. 3 tests and a cumulative final. Take advantage of all the extra credit.
HW, knowledge check and collab problems every week, but not too time consuming. She gives condensed notes for every chapter that cover like 95% of what you need. 4 tests, only the final is cumulative and she gives test corrections for the first 3 to add 5 points to your original score. Do all the little stuff and do decent on tests its an easy A
