She is a great professor. She tried her best to help you understand the lectures. Her tests are kind of ok, not really tricky. You will surely get an A if you carefully go over all her lectures. Quizzes every week, but not very difficult.if u read book b4 u come to the class, you will be fine.
One of the best professors I have had at NOVA. Very helpful and laid back. I learned a lot in her class and ended up with a B. The quizzes every week are not that bad if you skim the book.
She is one of the best. If you follow her quizes and exams regularly, you can catch up with her and get a good grade. Personally she is calm, percise and helful. She does her best to clarify the subjects and stays late after class to help students. She gives you extra credits when you need.I loved her class. I really miss her.
Gives tons of partial credit. Really nice. YOU MUST read before class. A 9 question T/F quiz before every lecture. NOT HARD I PROMISE!!!! very fair and you will learn a lot.

Mrs. wright can not teach. She is very unclear her tests are too hard . Her lecture class is very boring and makes you fall asleep and her labs are too too long . Not a good teacher !!!!!!!!!!!!
so easy, very patient. best ever! she understands if you are not a test taker. does give extra credit, and has weekly quizzes which help a lot!! read before class! i actually passed her class with a C, after failing most of her exams. she was awesome!!
Very nice teacher. quiz twice a week so you have to read before class but it helps so, do well in each of them. Lab quiz helps too and she gives a lot of extra credit. Her Test is not so hard. She is great!
Awesome teacher and really helpful. You just need to study to do well in her class, but she helps you with anything you need. She is availible and responds quickly.
She is an excellent teacher! Slackers won't do well in this class but if you read and study what you are suppose to, you will get a good grade (I got an A). Very nice and never wants to see her students failing, gives extra credit. Would definitely take her again.
Great person. Teaching skills not shabby but usually influenced by the classes attitude. A good real teacher and almost guarntee pass
Loved Dr. Wright!!! Great attitude, boring lecture, though. Truly helpful teacher and great person. Tests are harder than quizzes but she'll help you if you ask her during the test. Must read chapters before listening to lecture in order to take quiz which is a good portion of the grade.
Dr. Wright is very nice. The content of this course is hard but she explains it well. You can ask her any amount of questions needed. She is flexible if you have to miss class or lab. I am glad I took 2 semesters of Biology with her - she got me through!
Please don't waste your time with this professor. Her tests are in no way relevant to what she teaches in class. She is always in a hurry to get out early so she rushes through things. Easy quizzes, really hard tests. That's all i've got to say. If you're a slacker and don't want to learn anything.. take her. Otherwise, don't waste your time.
Tests have nothing to do with what she teaches. Lab is very boring, but the quizzes are very easy. The tests are more situation-like but her notes are all definitions. She doesn't go over what we are covering AT ALL. Very nice lady, but a very bad teacher. I received a C in her class even after I studied my butt off. I dont recommend her.
When you first walk into the class she makes it sound like walk in the park however she is very difficult. Her exams are unnecessarily difficult and not clean cut. Tests contain materials not covered in the lectured notes.
She is an awesome professor. Takes a lot of time to explain material, very available to students. Her test are from her slides( no text needed). Early arrival required ( daily quizzes). She is very awesome. I'll take her for BIO 141 and 2 if she was available. Education requires some sacrifices and hard work( at times).
You need to come to class everyday because there is an EASY daily quiz. She posts all of the lectures online, so don't worry about taking notes. Doesn't use textbook much so don't panic if you forgot it. The tests aren't too bad. She's very nice and is willing to answer any question and help you. I recommend her.
Very nice, very helpful. Always around if you need have any questions. Gives good advice. Really cares about her students.
Professor Wright is extremely helpful- but you have to make an effort. If you attend the lectures and pay attention to the notes you'll do well. She also posts the exact notes on blackboard. The way she grades people creates an advantage for you-- she drops two lowest quiz scores, and rounds up on tests. She's easygoing and I can't wait for Bio 102
This is a hard class, but she is a great professor. I realized if you make flash cards and study the terminology, you will pass the test. Her lectures are straight from blackboard. I would recommend her she is very sweet.
She is a great teacher. You will get good grades. I recommend you to take her class. She is also funny and cute.
She is very helpful, dedicated and easy professor. She does her job perfectly:simplify of terminology so it is easy to study this hard subject;uses different approaches to make her subject interesting and fascinating; treats students respectfully and friendly; creates a great learning atmosphere... I highly recommend her to people who like study!!!
Love Professor Wright, friendly, fun and loves to teach. She posts her lecture slides on Blackboard for studying. She is a very fair teacher with grading and keeps all grades updated on Blackboard so that you always know what your grade is. The class itself is tough, but if you take notes, review her slides and attend classes you will do well.
Dr. Wright gave very good, thorough lectures and is very interested in making sure you understand the information. She doesn't hand out easy grades, but she will help you get them.
she is a great teacher but the class is kind of hard. i studied my butt off for her tests and got a C in the class. she loves to teach and is very helpful. we never used the textbook in class. attendance is mandatory. there is a quiz everyday that represents your attendance.
Professor Wright loves her job and it shows. She takes a lot of information and makes it easier to understand. Everything is based off her lectures with PP slides, so you need to come to class, pay attention and take notes. She's super helpful at explaining things and will go the extra mile. A lot of work, but not overwhelming. Great teacher!
Dr. Wright is funny, interesting, and clearly loves science. She has a very effective teaching style and really tries to engage every student. There is a lot of homework but it's not overwhelming; earning an A isn't hard as long as you actually study. Overall: fantastic, amazing, awesome professor. Who else uses play-doh to illustrate meiosis?
She is alright, helpful if u need her, very nice, test are pretty hard so u have to study, not an easy A. Daily quizzes 8 questions pertaining to previous lecture for attendance. But make sure u read the book because not everything in exams is in her lecture ppts.
Such a hard class(test wise)! I would get A/B on homework and A/B on quizzes, but the tests were so difficult! so study a lot! If you get nervous or do poorly on tests, this class is all quiz/test based, so may not be a great fit for you.
she is an okay teacher. She gives you a quiz every class that is 8 questions. she does not give you extra credit if you are failing. she doesnt try to help you. her exams are stuff from the power points but there is barely any questions on the exam. i would not take her again. not an easy teacher. In order to get a good grade you must pass the exam
I was retaking Bio 102 because I had failed the first time. I came out with a B. Attending class is important because of the daily quizzes, but they're really helpful to your grade. As long as you practically memorize her powerpoints, you'll do fine on every test. She's obsessed with bio and knows what she's talking about.
Professor wright gives daily quizzes which are also the attendance. The questions on the daily quizzes come up on the tests. The class isn't easy at all but if you study hard you could get an A. She is very helpful, you can always ask her anything related to biology and she'll give you an answer.
Wish I took a different professor, hard grader and her lectures were fast pace. A lot of the time I wish I could pause and rewind what she was saying. Be prepared to work hard for a close to decent grade.
She is more than willing to explain things and help, but is a hard Bio teacher. I would not recommend taking this class if you are just trying to knock out your Bio requirement and aren't passionate about Bio. I would say she is a nice teacher, but an aggressive tester and grader. Don't be misled by her niceness and think its an easy class.
Took her for Bio 101, I think overall she is a really nicekind teacher and wants students to do well, but SHE'S REALLY HARD. Her nice personality doesn't match the hardness of the tests. Wouldn't recommend this teacher if you aren't really interested in Bio and just want to fulfill a requirement
If you learn the best by reading the textbook, then take her. Her exams come straight from the book. You can do well, just don't expect to pass with an A.
great teacher! take her. she gives 8 question quizzes at beginning of each class that cover the lecture slides from last class. tests are pretty easy if you study powerpoints from BB. she's very cool and funny too
This class is hard for those who don't enjoy science. As a teacher, Dr. Wright is amazing and is very helpful. She has a daily quiz every class and her final is just a compilation of all questions on past tests. She drops the lowest test score too. If you don't enjoy bio then this class will be hard but she is one of the best bio teachers at NOVA.
She was a great teacher! Very funny! Didn't give any extra credit but she gave many class activities that added up points. Clear lectures. She knows her topics. She was willing to describe things in different ways if you didn't understand and answered any questions thorogougly. Gives all info needed to pass the tests.
She is amazing. I took her summer course and it was very good. I learned a lot in her class. She also has a sense of humor and willing to help student. Tests are very straight forward. I would recommend her.
I took her 6 weeks summer BIO 102. She was very organized, clear. If you get good grades on 4 chp tests, then you will exempt the final. You don't need to buy a textbook. Her ppts are enough. Her lecture was very clear, straightforward. Also, she explained the roots of the vocabularies. So much helpful. I love her class and her personality!
The best teacher ever i took her for my bio 102 course in the summer i took her with my friends she loves ever one. I suck at science this teacher was the funniest ever i don't know how i passed haha. 1 homework sheet every week which is 10 points extra credit her test are the same if you get a question wrong its half a point ! Take her you'll pass
her lectures are pretty good. her powerpoints alone are kind of confusing if you were to go through them at home, but if you take good notes and put them in your own words you should be good to go. But aside from being a professor she's really kind so don't be afraid to ask for help she's always willing to clarify something for you.
She is an amazing teacher and really helpful. Her lectures are clear and makes sure everybody understands them. She gives Class Activities almost every class but they are really helpful, specially for the exams. I'll definitely take another class with her. I recommend her class for everyone.
Great teacher, very polite and respectful. I took online class and she was there every time I needed her help. She responds very quickly. Course itself wasnt easy but if you read and complete exercise questions on time, you wont have any problems with exams. Good luck!
One of the best professors I've had at NOVA! She works so hard to give students maximum points and extra credit for assignments, and is so good about breaking down the information and difficult areas. You will NOT regret taking her class!
she ight lol
Professor Wright is my favorite teacher so far! She cares about her students and gives great feedback as well. We had one paper to do and it was very easy. Her quizzes and exams are easy as long as you read and understand the chapters. She gives plenty of extra credit too.
Professor Wright is absolutely amazing. Even though this is an ELI course, which means she doesn't have much control over the what is assigned, she still made a huge effort to get her students where they needed to be. She was quick to respond to everyone and I highly recommend her!
I was terrified to take BIO 142 after taking the first one 141 with Dr. Beck and barely passing. The information is laid out better and its a bit more clear what to study for vs. too much information to remember. She is attentive and gets back to you immediately with answers and if you need help or have questions she is there and will respond fast.
Professor Wright is fabulous!!! I made the terrible mistake of taking BIO 141, so I was committed to this class also. But Prof Wright actually cared about her students and offered to help me. She replied to emails promptly, and she also allows LearnSmart extra credit activities which gave me an A in this class. I'd definitely take her again!
I REALLY LIKE HER. EVEN THOUGH HER TESTS ARE DIFFICULT, SHE IS A SUPER NICE PROFESSOR EVER IN MY LIFE.
I took her for both 101 and 102. I wouldn't pass this 102 if she didn't give the chance at the final exam. They are from same test questions. Take her if your want to pass the Bio. Tests are super hard and you can't ace unless you are good at biology.
I took Dr. Wright's five-week Bio 102 and really enjoyed it. Lectures were lively/interesting and PPs were comprehensive (although she doesn't give them out ahead of time or lecture from them, so lectures can feel a tad disorganized). Tests come straight from the PPs & daily XC is available for giving up your phone at the start of lecture/lab.
Very sweet professor! She responds very fast and is very active with her online students, always there to help. She also gives many resources to help you learn! However, this class is very difficult being that you have to teach yourself. Its a lot of work so don't take this unless you have AT LEAST 12-14 hours a week to spend on this class alone.
She's ok, her jokes are awkward and if you are taking her prepare to drink some coffee and make sure to stay awake because her lecture are very plain and if you fall asleep.... you just miss a very important lesson that could be on the test. Other than that she is a very kind professor.
Let me start by saying she's one of the most sweetest professors that I have come across. She really wants you to pass and even though the labs were boring sometimes, I never cared because she really always wanted to help you. Do yourself a favor and please take her. She will help you. Thank You Professor for a great semester!!
Is a sweet prof and really cares. Bio 102 is a lot of work and confusing since it is has a lot of units but if you keep up with notes, ur good. 4 tests and 1 optional final - test format has: T/F, mult. choice, and short answer. Class can be somewhat off bc she doesnt go much over PP, and tells some weird sarcastic jokes but she is a great choice!
Super sweet. Responds really quickly to emails and tries to explain things a different way to help you understand more clearly. Doesn't grade quickly so you don't know where your grade stands until the end. Large amount of EC at the end. Absolutely HAVE to read, and very thoroughly, to pass this class.
She responds to emails, and gives good feedback on assignments. She's pretty understanding too. The exams were super thorough and hard, so make sure you know the material. The work load is not too bad at all.
Tests are 70 questions. She doesn't give study guides. lectures do not make sense because she gets confused on what she is saying. Power points are not posted until like 2 weeks before the exam. You have to teach yourself everything. Do not take her if you are not good at bio. She is nice but that does not make up for the amount of work you have
Professor Wright was an amazing professor for BIO 142 which I took as an online class. She made class very interesting and easy for everyone to learn at their own pace. BIO in general can be very overwhelming because its a lot of information but with her it didn't feel like that at all. extra credit, graded h/w and group projects. you will pass:)
Love love love her. Took both her BIO 101 and BIO 102 because she makes it so interesting and fun. She's caring, knowledgeable and encourages students to learn the materials in many ways: class activities, powerpoints online, lab hw. Drops lowest lab + 4 class grades. 4 exams and optional final. She's awesome so definitely take her for your BIO 102
I took BIO 101 online with Dr. Wright. We met once a week for lab. Dr. Wright is intellectually curious, very funny and reasonably empathetic. Pay attention to her Assignment schedule. It describes every detail of the class, and how much it is worth. There is a rhythm to the workload and it tells you exactly what you need to know to be prepared.
I took summer class which was 4 days x 3 hours a week. Even though it was accelerated hard class she was great at explaining. I would recommend her to everyone.
Professor Wright gave a lot of chances to her students to improve their grades and even if you do bad on her tests, which there are 3 and an optional final, you can still get a good grade with lab homework and class assignments, and she teaches the material in a detailed way
Dr. Wright cares about her students, I truly didn't think I could experience that via online classes but she proved me wrong! she is always accessible and responds to emails in a timely manner. She is willing to help and is flexible as long as you put the effort. Assignments are straight forward, exams are MC, gives extra credits, fair grader.
Dr. Wright is the most amazing science professor I have ever encountered. The syllabus is very detailed, and easy to understand, she communicates with her students on a regular basis, and empowers her students to be the best students they can be.
Prof Wright was soooo helpful and so kind one of the best prof I have ever had. She is funny and kept class exciting she wants to get to know you but if you are quiet she respects that too. I always feel good leaving her class. If her classes aren't already full do yourself a favor and sign up for her class.
I wasnt a fan of how the grading was set up for her BIO101 class based on Lab, Pop Quizzes, and Exams. However, she is very good at making sure you understand the material. She will sit with you and go over your exam to clarify questions or misunderstandings.
Professor Wright is AMAZING!! She cares about how you do and will make sure you understand the material. If you have questions and don't understand something she will say it in a way that you do. I took her online course and YES its A LOT of work! But anyone that is taking BIO 141-142 already knows that. Put the work in and you will easily get an A
Loved Professor Wright... she has a fun personality and gives very engaging lectures. She explains things very well and will always repeat things if you need her to. Lowest test grade is dropped, including the final, basically making it optional if you liked your previous test grades! I would 100% take her again, and wish I could!!
Prof Wright has changed the course based on the feedback of 1 student multiple times. That's a good thing - she only does it to help students succeed. Offers extra credit for easy things, focuses on helping students learn, not punishing grades. All of our work was done in-class, we had virtually no homework. Focuses on human/mammal anatomy.
love her! I am super happy I took this course with her and would do it again if I could! I took her online course. We had to do things ourselves there was no live explanation/pre recorded classes. She did zoom if we had questions. She gave us lots of homework but it helped ace her exams. She made it possible to pass! Best professor ever!
She teaches really well. Her test are the hardest things ever. I would study all week to prepare for them. Like she said study the powerpoint & I would make my own study guide from her powerpoint & would try to understand everything. Their is 4 tests & one opt final. She does give EC which help if you do bad on exams. IF YOU HATE BIO DONT TAKE!!!
She's so nice and a very easy grader for homework assignments. She literally gives assignments back so that you can correct it and then regrades it. When she does take off points, its just a fraction of a point. Her tests are somewhat difficult but if you go over the PowerPoints you should be fine. 9/10
She's a great professor but there's a lot of material to study for the exams. Take her tho!
Dr. Wright is the best professor with no doubt. She is very straight forward on what is going to be on the tests and what we have to study. She also drops one worst test grade. She gives lab hww that are not too hard and all the test problems are 100% based on what we learn during lecture. I really want to take her classes again if I get a chance.
Dr.Wright is the best prof. I have ever taken in NOVA even though BIO is not related to my major. She is fair with everything. Attendance is not required but you need to attend to earn extra points and do group activities. Final exam is optional. Her tests are kinda heavy, but I learn a lot in those tests. I wish I had taken her BIO 101 class.
took her this summer and the class wasn't too bad but there were soo many labs that you needed to do. she has 4 exams and there are quizzes every class. and 25% of the exam questions were straight from those quizzes so make sure to keep them and study.
Prof. Wright is one of the BEST professors in NOVA. She is very caring and helpful. Just be honest and ask for help if needed. Class quizzes are done in groups. The final can be optional. Attend the classes and study her PowerPoint, you can get A. English is my second language but I skipped finals on 101 and 102.
Professor Wright is a great teacher, she is very understanding. We usually do class activities and if you are out she will let you make them up when you come back. Labs on the other hand aren't the same. When preparing for a test she gives you the exact information that you need to succeed. Just write good notes!
Professor Wright is by far the best professor I've ever had at NOVA. She is sooo funny, sarcastic, caring and is always connecting with her students. She was always helping me and answering my many questions. I loved Professor Wright
Best biology professor I've had at NOVA! She is super kind and is super passionate and knowledgable about biology! (Also plenty of opportunity for extra credit)
The course is structured by in-class lab assignments and in-class lecture assignments and monthly exams. There's rarely any homework, but attendance is mandatory.
I wouldn't recommend taking her class, she grades lab hw on accuracy and all her exams are in person their are like 5 exams. Doesn't give much extra credit. No study guide for exams and closed book and closed notes exam. Boring lectures, she talks the whole time. Class activities in class that are graded for 15 pts. LAB HW is 25 points.
Great professor: informative lectures, cares about students' understanding, encourages struggling students to come to her office with questions- and totally unjudgemental, even with students whose test results consistently are very poor. Basically, everything you want in a teacher who really just wants to teach. Easy extra credit opportunities, too
Nice lady, good teacher, easy to talk to. I felt like she make things easier than they should have been. Exams and quizzes seemed a little dumbed down, but whatever it is an intro course anyway. I recommend reading the book, it is useful. You can't use a laptop in class so note taking is by hand. Attendance is mandatory due to quizzes.
Loved this class, she grades based lab, exams, homework and class activities. Would recommend show up to all classes because participation does count. She gives multiple extra credit chances though and reviews the material and gives sources to students for extra help.
TAKE HER!!! She is very clear about grading criteria from day one and will emphasize what she expects from you. The bulk of grading is based on 4 exams and one final (lowest dropped) and lab homework/quizzes. Everything you need to know is on the PowerPoints and is explained in lecture. For her exams make sure to make time to review ALL the slides
Kind and great professor. This class requires effort to pass and won't be an easy A. As long as you use all resources to study for and complete all assignments you should do well. 4 exams, optional final, lab quizzes/hw, & extra credit. Attendance and arriving on time matters!!
FOR BIO141 No complaints. Was always willing to help with any issues in a clear way that made it easier to understand. Showed a clear desire to see us do well. The class had a lot to do, and she made it more tolerable to partake in. And even offered a pretty high amount of extra credit at the end that tied in directly to our work this semester!
I took Professor Wright for both Bio 101 & 102. She is an AWESOME professor who really cares about the students. She expects attendance and participation. She is always willing to help and answers all questions quickly by email. The Final Exam is optional and I would advise everyone to take her for BIO.
Prof. Wright is an awesome biology professor. Her class requires effort but she's super helpful and passionate. The format with exams, labs, and optional final works well. I found unstuck AI great for quick study prep.
Professor Wright is one of the best teachers i've had for a class. Her lectures are straightforward and easy to understand. Take notes!!! she's also very caring and will help you out if you just ask:). Attendance is taken but just show up on time and you will be good.
Professor Wright made biology extremely easy to understand. She's kind and approachable, so don't be afraid to ask for help. Grades consist of class activities, lab homework, and exams. She checks labs off by groups and looks for basic understanding instead of 100% accuracy. As long as you study, you'll do well. Flashcards will be your best friend.
