This is an awesome class, a whole lot of work and reading, but she is very young, and relates very well to the students, she has a gift for teaching, she doesnt think people are inferior or anything.

She's pretty easy. The class is mostly open discussion. She lets everyone speak their mind. Sometimes gives pop quizzes on the readings and 2 papers. Most of the time she cancels her midterms. No final, except a 10 PAGE final paper (that was hard).

Professor Bernard is a great professor that cares about her students. She is young, "real," gifted and understanding. Her class discussions are very enlightening. One of the best experiences u will have at this institution, period.

She deserves a high five! I know there are a lot of readings in class, so what? You'll learn a lot from her. She keeps the class interesting, funny, and entertaining. If you want an A, participate in class and read the book. She is a can't miss professor.

Very interesting class. The discussions are always informative and entertaining. I wish that I had taken it during the regular semester instead of during a shortened summer semester.

Profo as she prefers to be called is a very good professor. She is intelligent, current, proactive and the best thing about her is that she allows her students to have a say so in the way the assignments are distributed. We had a lot of readings but they were all interesting and informative.

Profo is amazing. She's young, up beat, knowledgeable, dedicated and caring. She really wants you to succed in her class and will give you every oportunity to do so. You choose the topics for the midterm and vote on them. And the final projects are intense but fun. I encourage everyone to take her.

very good professor. i enjoyed the class and the readings. the group project is not at all easy... but you'll walk away with more than just some insight on your topic. overall, the subject matter in this class will make you think... and reconsider what you see on the just on the "outside".

Yo Profo is hot!!! She is a F-I-N-E young teacher. She's really intelligent and cool to talk to. You do a hell of a lot of reading in her class but you learn alot. She not easy but she not hard either. She is fair just do what you have to and you'll get a good grade. Did I mention that she's hot...

I can't explain her grading system, she changed the syllabus too much. I got an A in the class and never read anything she told us to. Make sure to participate, she's not about memorizing books, she's about making you think. If you can demonstrate that you're learning, you'll do well.

The best professor at baruch, she knows what she's doing. Dont get caught up thinking you can bs thru the class. She is very serious about the work so dont be fooled by her sweetness. Do your work and you'll get the grade you deserve. I would def. recomend her to anyone :)

She is by far the BEST professor at Baruch!!! Don't be fooled by the subject matter, her assignment are not a game. She is extremely helpful and makes herself avaiable to the student. I'd definitely recomend her to any student. Truely amazing

Ok what can i say about Profo... She is the bomb!!!! There is a lot of reading for her class, and the assignemnts are no breeze, but she makes you want to do good in her class.. She is very nice and a REAL person who you can communicate with on a comfortable level! I'm not going to lie, it is a lot of work... but she is the best professor at Baruch

The best Prof. I ever had in any college. Her teaching style is open dialogue b/w her and the students. She treats you like her equal. For me her lectures instilled a sense of hope for the future of humanity. She fosters an enviroenment where materialism and consumption have no place. I LOVE HER!

Very interesting classes, with a huge amount of required reading that I actually want to read. She is very helpful, says what she thinks and encourages us to do the same, no matter how out there the topic is. Attractive to boot.

She is a great professor...As long as you do the work you're guaranteed an A...The class discussions and readings are very interesting. It makes you look at the world in a different light...You would not regret taking her...The class has a good amount of reading that may seem a bit difficult but the class discussions help to clarify it.

Great teacher. She really cares about the students. A lot of reading and difficult projects but well worth it. She doesn't wan't Speilberg style productions for the final film project, she just wants you to think and use all of the resources available to you. This is what college is about.

She is the best professor, she cares and she is very supportive. I enjoyed her class and would take many other courses with her. The material and discussions are great and the projects are enjoyable to do.

THE most AMAZING professor I have taken in my two years at Baruch. She will make you see the entire world in a different light. She doesn't JUST focus on Latinos...but she expands on all races and their relations to Latinos. I'm no where close to being Latino and I loved this class. TAKE HER!!!! Her curriculum is tough, but you'll learn!!

Those who complain about Bernard's class are just lazy. The reason you are in college is to explore new things and duh do work. Yes she gives a lot of reading but its interesting. Best class i had in baruch.

When class first started I thought she was really hard!!! we had to read 3 books for the semester. Class turned out to be realllly interesting. It was a different debate everyday and you don't have to read the whole Pedagogy book..just know the 4 dialogical and antidiolgical stuff and you'll be fine. TAKE HER!!!! She's the best

Great great great and friendly. She makes u work for it but in a good way. She really is awsome and her classes are wonderfull. All debates which help u remember and understand easier than reading. She is totaly cool and I can only suggest her.

greatest professor ever. the fact that i took time out to even comment show that. if more professor was like her baruch wouldn't be such a miserable place to be in. lots of work but because class and activities are so interesting your want to do it and don't realize the time and effort put into it. books are interesting also.

She's such a down to earth professor. She's young but smarter and more knowledgable than a lot of professors. She will try to help you but only if you help yourself. She's a tough grader. Take extensive notes b/c her midterms and finals can be trying. However, you'll absolutely love being in her class. There's always a heated debate. Awesome!

Awesome Professor! this is how college should be taught. She teaches you to think critically. the other classes i am taking require me to ram a textbook into my head and forces me to projectile vomit it back onto a scantron. But this class, although there is a lot of reading, it's worth it. You learn a lot! and she LOVES her students!!! take her!

Dr. Bernard is the best professor ever. Intelligent and just perfect in every sense of the word. I know who left that ridiculous comment and I hope that person knows that academia does not need a person like you..so just drop out of school and give us all a break.

Dr. Bernard is one of the best professors I've had in college so far. The class is ALOT of work and that group project will kill you if you let it. She picks good books (lots of reading), but you do learn alot. Very interesting class and great professor.

Excellent professor. I'm a math major that took her class for fun, and I didnt regret it. There IS some work involved, but for those majoring in this field or looking for an elective, this is a great class to be in.

i took this class just to make up courses and it turned out to be one o the most interesting, informative classes ever. Great professor, gives you a chance to apply your class work to a real life situation. you will not regret taking her. SHE IS GOOD PEOPLE

If this professor is teaching in the semester that you're considering banging out your ethnic studies requirement (weissman), you HAVE to take her. absolutely amazing professor. class discussions on the daily, no homework/textbook/attendance required. final presentation = grade, it's as easy at that

She is a very nice lady, no textbook needed, attendance taken sometimes, engages in class disscussions, one final group project. NO test's, 1 midterm paper, 1 final paper along with presentation, some written tasks, nothing you can't handle

Easy A. I missed a lot of class. She does notice though so participate when you're there if you're going to skip. One paper she never handed back. Class project and final project. Nobody ever did hw or readings. I wouldn't really recommend to someone who wanted to learn from the class, though... We didn't do anything. Maybe that's up to you though!

This is one of those bs electives that you have to take. I took her for a winter session and almost everyone in my class got an A. She just asks you to read a few long papers and the rest of the class is just discussion based and she grades you based on how much you talk. Overall, I'd say take it! Especially if you wanna boost your GPA.

AMAZING. Honestly my favorite professor at Baruch. No exams. She assigned my class 2 "reflections" which were like one page papers on the readings. We had a semester long group project, which wasn't too difficult, but it was time consuming. Other than that, she just assigns a ton of readings. Her class is worth it though.

She is a great professor. Makes class fun with interesting discussions. There are many assigned readings, but as long as you participate there wont be exams. Reflection papers and group projects take up the majority of course materials. Really chill. Easy A if you do all assignments and do good on group project

Prof Bernard is very easygoing, laid-back and flexible. She respects private opinions and ideas. Be prepared to read all of the reading assignments which are sometimes a bit lengthy but interesting. She said no test but in the end we got one from all the reading materials combined. The group project is important, requires research and team work.

I took Dr. Bernard's winter session this January and it was the best 3.5 weeks of my college career. You will learn so much about racism, which will eventually alter your perspectives in various ways. Totally recommend taking her classes!

Very inspirational and entertaining teacher. It's very rare that you come across a teacher in CUNY that is as passionate about what she teaches as this professor. The workload is decent and she is a very fair grader. The readings vary, but nothing too tough. If you love class discussions, videos, and cool projects, this is the class to be in.

Dr. Bernard is in one word: cool. She inspires students from all walks of life to see new perspectives and challenges you in a non-confrontational way. I took her course over the summer and it went by too quickly. Would have loved a full semester of learning. If you want to branch out and broaden some misguided horizons, take this course.

Took her for Macaulay Seminar back in Spring 2017. She is very, very nice & caring. You can have personal conversations w/her almost anytime. She taught the Friday 9 am section, which was rough and no one was awake, but she canceled class a bunch of times and extended the assignment deadlines. Pretty easy A, readings were annoying though

Dr. B is the best! Inspirational, intelligent and easy going. The first day you will feel overwhelmed with the syllabus but as the class goes on you will LOVE her! If you're a student who does not like to participate or do group projects then she may not be the professor for you. The hwk reading can be tedious but enjoyable. Best prof in Baruch

Took bernard for a hybrid winter course that ended up being all online. Super easy blog posts, just do the work on time and youre fine. The whole class was super chill and she ended up cancelling the final paper because she thought the other assignments were enough! would recommend for sure. easy A if you do things on time & w/ a little effort

Dr. Bernard is a solid professor. I wish we could have spent more time with her but it was the Winter session. There's a lot of reading and responding to do and sometimes she isn't always clear on what she wants. Still, she is not those traditional teachers who stand and talks. She mixes her teaching with lectures, slides, movies, trips etc

I loved her class, and style of teaching. She gives a lot of information, but if you do what is required you will get an A. Take her class you will love it!

GREAT PROFESSOR!!!! She's a must take, I promise you. Very knowledgable and passionate professor. I took her during the summer and she's awesome. She gives extra credit and is flexible with due dates!!! Not an easy A but very attainable.

At first I took the course just for an easy A and the credit. The class turned out to be a huge eye opener. Would 100% take this class again. Mandatory attendance-flexible professor-lengthy, but interesting readings-interesting class discussions-class trips-no textbook-always accessible via email.

Professor Bernard cares for her students and vice versa. Despite being a hybrid class, we were able to communicate and present our ideas very passionately when we met in a classroom once in a while. The workload is very easy with only having to give your thoughts on a reading or video. Would take her again.

Very understanding and accommodating professor. Took this winter class, only met once a week and most of the work was online on blackboard. Just read and for this class, it will be easy to make all the class content connect for an easy A.

Loved this class! Professor Bernard makes everything so clear and adds creative twists to her class such as visiting museums and connecting art to Latin American history. I really wish I was able to take her for a full semester.

I liked the class. It was on a Saturday. But, Time passed by really fast because the class was great.

Definitely made me think about topics. We started with topic of food in person but going online we changed to focus on the pandemic. Took a trip to Harlem but only stayed for a few minutes that was disappointing. The final project really felt like a lot, an essay, a blog post, and a podcast. She is respectable though and wants discussion in class

Professor Bernard is a great professor in the sense that she genuinely cares about her students passing, showing up to class and completing thier work on time. Tons of leniancy, but tons of work, including reading PDFs at a time. Group project was fun, but can be prolonged. Only dislike is that she does not use Brightspace for some odd reason.
