Just awful! Wish I did a bit more research before picking her. She use to teach at Northlake, and no one liked her over there either. I payed her to read me the book and use stupid slides. She might as well have been reading the book in Latin, you won't understand anything that shes talking about. She will harass you in class. Ruined my semester.
I'm taking on-line course - NO HELP WHATSOEVER!! Midterm that was totally incomprehensible. I asked for help---REPLY was ..."figure it out yourself" and "teach yourself excel while ur at it". Could not even explain her own problem to me. A CPA I asked for help could not even figure out the problem set. - work T accounts backwards....
Professor Brown is stern; however she knows her stuff. YOU MUST READ THE BOOK!! The test's are mutiple choice however if you don't READ THE BOOK you will totally FAIL! Accounting is NOT math! YOU MUST STUDY F/THIS CLASS. Best advice is to do MORE homework then she gives and keep referring back to the book....This class builds off the first chapter!!
Not a fan... we took 4 tests and each one was a different format. First one half online half in class, second one 100 questions that you didn't have time for, third 60 questions with ambiguous questions, and the fourth was online. She just assignes homework and goes off slides, but takes attendance could've done the whole class online.
She is a really nice person, but accouting is hard. The test are really extremely hard... Even if u study is hard to get a good grade on the test. She does test online but they are too long and confusing...
Ms. Brown is a very good teacher. I had her for ACCT 2301 in the summer and 2302 in the Fall, I got A's in both classes. As long as you read the book, work on the homework, and commit yourself to the class you will do well with her.
YOU PRETTY MUCH HAVE TO WORK ON YOUR OWN IN THIS CLASS. SHE GOES OVER THE MATERIAL ONCE AND EXPECTS YOU TO GET IT. I GOT AN A IN HER 2301 CLASS BUT WHAT I LEARNED, I LEARNED BECAUSE OF MY STUDY GROUP; WE HELPED EACH OTHER OUT SHE DOES GIVE A REVIEW SHEET FOR EXAMS, BUT IT TAKES A LOT OF DEDICATION AND STUDYING TO DO GOOD IN HER CLASS.
I took her for 2301 and am now taking her 2302 class. I got an A but like others you do need a lot of dedication to get that! When you ask her questions outside of class she'll usually say look in your syllabus or in ur book and if u ask her in class she makes you feel stupid by putting you down and questioning your knowledge. She is also monotoned
If you are dedicated and have a little knowledge over the material and willing to study your brain out then youll be fine. I got an A but that was because I studied day and night non-stop and because I like Accounting. Most of my class struggled through the whole course and whenever they ask for help she wouldnt fully answer their question.
She is not a good teacher will not explain fully. I emailed her numerous times with questions she would tell me to read the chapter. Never NEVER helped me I had to find help with classmates. I would NOT recommend her. I took another teacher for the second Acct class and he was wonderful understood with no problem.
I was considering majoring in accouting and I HATED this class! Brown was rude and unhelpful. She wanted us to participate, but when we asked questions she acted as if we were idiots. I usually make As and never made above a 70 on a test. She must have curved them because I came out with an A at the end of the semester. DO NOT recommend whatsoever!
I had her for acct 2301 and 2302.She expects you to go over your material and have some idea of what you will be covering next class. She will go over it once and if you didnt pay attention, she expects you to get with a classmate to figure out what you missed or go to her office for clarity. She is wonderful and totally cares about her students!
ms.brown pushes students to think. you will benefit from her class. ps she's a beauty.
dont take her class
Very rude!! Do not ever take her classes. She "expects" you to already know accounting I & II before you even take the class. She explains clearly in class, you are not there to learn from her, she is not there to teach anything what so ever, but to only recieve clarification from her. She does not know how to teach, which is why she does not teach
dont take her. Unhelpful really and does not explain anything clearly in class.
Prof. Brown is helpful and expects that you put some effort to learn accounting.
I have never had such a terrible teacher. I use the term "teach" lightly. Her style is "tell" more than "teach." If you need to have your hand held while teaching, don't come near this class. If you NEED this class, it's passable.
Most Useless teacher I've taken. Doesn't help with a damn thing.
I asked for help and she treated me like an idiot. She rushed through all of the lessons and kept repeating "ya follow" after every other statement. I would definatly not recommend this teacher EVER.
This teacher has a chip on her shoulder. Bad attitude and doesn't want to teach you about anything except respecting her although she is anything but someone to respect. If your a chic or of ethnic origins. Stay away...Ya feel me!
She is knowledgable abt the subject, but refuses to teach it. She'll "lecture" for 2 minutes and call it a day.Gives tons of HWK. Very negative person, rarely encourages her students. She berated us all the time even though we were doing our best. You'll have to teach urself in this class and accounting is hard!Don't recommend. Take Washington instead.
Mrs. Brown is the WORST teacher i have ever had in my life, she does not teach AT ALL and expects you to just read the book and know the material. She gives TONS of homework and will not let you enter her classroom if it is not ALL completely done, whether you understood it on not. She is VERY RUDE and will not answer ANY questions, DONOTTAKECLASS!
She asks u to read the chapter and make an outline,& during classtime,u'll have to do problems whether u understood the material or not! Rarely explains anythin.I don't know y she's getting paid if it's my responsibility to read the book and understand the material on my OWN.According to her,it's the tutor's job at LAC to help the students not hers
Overall WORST teacher ive ever had, she expects us to learn material on our own, she should not be a teacher (i wouldnt even consider her that) she is more of a supervisor if anything. Shes the first instructor ive ever had problems with so this should prove how useless she is.She is rude to the full extent, she should be fired in my opinion.Ughhhh
This lazy teacher thinks that as the head of the department she doesn't have to teach. She doesn't care about her students, and lacks compassion. More than 3/4 of my class has dropped out, and they were not all bad students. This uncaring teacher has crushed the dreams of many of her students. It's a shame that she's paid to do all this damage!
Mrs. Brown dose not care about her students, she does not teach at all, expects you to read the book and allready know the material. She will not answer any questions you have, she will tell you to ask your classmates or to go to the tutoring lab. Take Washington instead trust me she is much better and will treat you with respect unlike mrs brown
Look, if you actually want to learn accounting then this is definitely the teacher to take. She's doesn't put up with any crap and you have to do your work. If you read and do the homework then you'll do fine. If you don't work at it then you'll definitely struggle & possibly fail. This isn't a handholding class & she treats you like the real world
For someone who does not teach, she sure does demand that you call her "Professor." Laughable. She says 'ya understan' as a statement, not to invite questions. She cares about her looks only. Not the students. She expects you to already know accounting, and if you don't, then she will simply say that you aren't reading enough. Regina is awful.
I took on-line Payroll Accounting and made an A. But she was horrible - wouldn't answer emails, wouldn't allow us to see the answers on tests (so we would know what we missed), very condescending, had contradictory instructions posted. I would definitely advise avoiding this teacher.
HORRIBLE!!! Do not take accounting with Regina. YOU WILL NOT LEARN ACCOUNTING. PERIOD. She does not care about you or your future. She cares about herself only!!! You will regret it.
Regina does not teach. To learn accounting in her "class" you will need to rely on other tutoring or help from any/all other resources. You will not get any help from Regina. She should consider other fields for her profession since it is crystal clear that she is not interested in teaching or helping the students to learn accounting. Worst ever.
I can't speak for any course except Summer I! Believe you, me, When I say she's a difficult teacher. Do not take this class if you are not prepared to spend at least 3-8 hours studying each night. You basically have to learn this stuff on your own...she's just a guide. If you are mentally gifted then you have nothing to worry about otherwise don't.
If you want well-explained topics for principles of accounting please visit youtube.com and search for 'mattfisher64'. He breaks down everything and clears up any confusion you may have while you are doing your at-home assignments. Mrs Brown does not teach in the "classic" sense of teaching. If you ask a question, you might not get the answer.
Okay Professor Brown is not an"easy" teacher, but she really does care about her students. She prepares you for the real world,so she not going hold your hand through the whole class! If you participate in class and do the assignments given, you should have no problems passing. Also, you have to make an effort to understand what is being taught.
Prof. Brown is a teacher who makes Acct even a more difficult subject!! I and other students felt that she was intimidating and in a sense didn't fully answer any questions!! She talks at you not to you!! I do not anyway recommend this professor to any not even my worse enemy!! I took her in Spring 2012 dropped n then took it in Summer n got a C!!
Professor Brown is quite helpful. If you don't understand or get what she is teaching you probably don't attend class everyday. Its not a easy blow off class but it can be very helpful for the next accounting classes. You will definitely be forced to learn something in her class be prepared.
Prof. Brown is a fantastic teacher for those THAT WANT TO LEARN. If you're a slacker or tend to rely on extra credit to pass classes, if you don't take homework seriously & never study out of class, then you will fail. If you take the course seriously as a COLLEGE LEVEL COURSE and put in work required, you WILL MASTER the material under this Prof.
Prof. Brown is a very strict and intimidating teacher, despite that I liked her class. I do feel like I taught myself everything... so not much "teaching" going on.. just clarification of things I read in the text. I do not recommend this class for people that struggle with Math.
Regina is a CHEAT. She will cheat you of your time...Cheat you of your money... Cheat you out of a good semester... But most of all, she will CHEAT YOU OUT OF AN EDUCATION! Do not get cheated!
Do NOT take accounting class with this teacher...it's not worth your time or your money! You might as well read the whole book yourself cuz this teacher won't help or even care if you learn anything! I do not recommend this Brown to anyone!
You pretty much teach yourself in this class! When you ask her question she answers you back with another question and makes you feel dumb for asking. Not a good teacher at all, do not take her unless you really have to.
This professor is awful. She does not teach, she just goes over chapters. I was afraid to ask a question because she makes you feel stupid for asking. You have to work super hard at this class. I don't want easy classes, what I do want is to have a teacher that will be able to help if I don't understand. Professor Brown is not that teacher!!!!
I'm sad that Eastfield only have Ms. Brown as a professor for Accouting II. I took her for accounting I on-line & she was awful. She is very disrespect to her students. I had questions concerning hmwk but I would be scared to ask based on the fact if 1 person emailed her, she would sarcastically address it 2 the entire class. Not professional @ all
This woman is incredible. I'm a struggling but ambitious student, and when I think of everything that Professor Brown did for me during her course, it brings tears of joy to my eyes. I never give professor reviews, and I never get involved in class but she changed all of this. Truly the BEST. She's not for those who don't want self-improvement!
HORRIBLE TEACHER DONT TAKE HER NO HELP AT ALL
To avoid sounding repetitive...ALL OF THE ABOVE!~ You will have to teach yourself this Course. Condescending and absentee are the only descriptions of this PROFESSOR that I can come up with. I will not give up! But if you can do NOT take this class with her as your Instructor. Not unless you already have keen sense of Accounting Basics.
First off this is not an entry level accounting class, that is what a 1301 class is for. When you reach this class you are expected to have your study habits set, your mind prepared and you are expected to be ready to work A lot of people complaining about this teacher simply were either not prepared or simply too lazy. Great teacher if your ready.
I have seen a lot of poor comments about Prof. Brown and I will have to disagree with all of them. I truly would prefer her as my Instructor. You have to remember this is a COLLEGE LEVEL COURSE. You should be adult enough to know.. No Prof. will hold your hand. You must have the will and the drive to do the work to make it through these classes.
The most awful teacher I have taken in my life! This is an entry level course; there are no prerequisites. Yet this lazy and uncaring teacher refuses to teach, and you will hear her complaining endlessly about her students not studying while she is the one who is not willing to teach. This woman gives Eastfield a bad name!
Learning accounting in general requires you to practice it in order to understand it. Prof. Brown expects you to read before each lesson so you can have some guided practice in class. She cares for her students. Her goal is to prepare her students for jr/sr college courses. Take her class if you are planning to transfer or major in accounting.
Took this class online and in the classroom. She doesn't care whether her student passes or fails.
She expect you to read and to attempt to do the practice problems before you come to class. That way you can ask questions. She always ask if you understand and she has an open door policy however; she does not hold your hand she expect you to try on your own.
She does not know how to teach. All she does is read through a powerpoint and then tell you to do some practice problems. When you ask her a question, she makes u feel dumb and tells u that you need to read the book. Is not helpful
This professor is the worst one you will ever have. I emailed her so many times asking to meet with her to explain my questions. Not only did she deny me, she told me I was on my own in an online course. She does not care about students at all!
She is bad at teaching. She expects you to learn everything on your own, but makes you look stupid when you ask a question. Do Not Take Her.
In any sort of math class, practice is the key to learning it. She is intimidating and tough, if you are not prepared. Read the chapter, do the practice assignments, come to class, and participate. If you do these things, you will pass the class. She does not give hand outs; the grade you get is the grade you earned.
She is the most disrespectful person I have ever had to deal with. If you like sucking up and kissing butt then she is your woman. She is never clear on what she wants and makes accounting too difficult. It's a community college, not MIT. Making 100's on the home workslabs are a must because her tests are ridiculous. And the book is $300, JUST NO!
She is a horrible teacher for Accounting Capstone. She didn't grade on time and she adds more and more stuff to the assignments. I previously had her for ACCT 2301 and 2302 and they were ok but this went out of hand. She needs a better way of handling things and be respectful of her students! I hope she can one day be more nicer to people!
She once said " Ya'll are getting on my nerves".
This teacher is horrible. She does not answer your questions. She is not personable to be a teacher. She does explain things well. Says to read the book, but the book does not cover everything on the assignments. Test questions do not match the material. You don't really have a choice of teachers she is the main one.
This was the worst instructor that I've had. I took Accounting 1 in the fall semester, but got out because she was so rude and careless. She doesn't care about the students and sucks at teaching. I hate that EastField only has that Instructor for Accounting 1 and 2. Don't waste your money and time with her.
She is a very rude teacher. She requires class participation, but if you are wrong she will try to made you feel stupid. The first half of the class was learned in high school accounting. The second half harder. Almost all work is done online. Textbook is 200 min. Easy C. She is an ok teacher, but she is really rude. I wouldn't recommend her.
She was very unclear about instruction. The tests were hardly based off the textbook and the homework assignments were given sporadically. Pretends to care about students but won't reply to emails in a timely manner and expects the students to pick up her slack. Probably the worst instructor so far.
She was super hard I could not follow along once I missed ONE day! I took this class in the winter-semester WITH A DIFFERENT TEACHER and I got an easy A! she is the only teacher until the may and summer fast semesters so skip her and choose the other semesters they are way more informative than her!!!!!
What makes this funny and cements my thoughts about the teacher is the fact that my mom also had the teacher but at the campus, as i had her online. I expected the teacher to be some older, ornery, stubborn lady who is just there for the heck of it. Nope. According to my mom she is none of that visually. Regardless very bad teacher. AVOID!
YOU MUST READ BEFORE EACH CLASS. This is a college level course so she will not hold your hand throughout the semester. You MUST read and do the hw in order to know what she is talking about. If you don't understand something, ASK QUESTIONS! She will help you but you MUST know what you are talking about of some sort. STUDY GROUPS ARE GREAT!!!!!
Terrible teacher, does not respond to emails. Also she is not actually a trained accountant, does not have a CPA or an accounting degree. Avoid.
50% of grade is a proctored final on campus (yes, also for online course...). 50% reduction for any late assignment, even when she posts the dates incorrectly. The syllabus and the ecampus page are both very scattered and redundant (sure to confuse). Be prepared for regular mass announcements telling the class they should be more proactive, etc..
I am a non-traditional student and I feel some ratings on the professors are sometimes done in malice. This is not the case. Prof. Brown is the worst teacher I have ever encountered. She speaks down to students, fuss throughout class, does not answer questions in class on course content, and appears angry to literally teach. Do not take this class!
I took Accounting 2301 with Professor Brown and although her class goes rather fast, if you read and practice before and after the lecture, you will earn a good grade. The tests but may have extra credit to complete before the test. Homework is pretty simple to do if you complete the practice excel problems found in Cengage.
She says as long as we prepare for the next class by reading the chapter we will be fine. Not true. I did what she told me, and still couldn't understand. She scolds the class because we are ALL lost, tells us it is our fault that we don't understand materials, spends most of the class complaining about that instead of actually teaching. 0/10.
If you take this class you have to read each chapter thoroughly. If youre able to do that and practice problems youll be fine. Dont be intimidated by her. Shes a genuine person. If you dont understand a problem you have to at least try the problem. If you read, practice, and use critically thinking. This class if for you.
Difficult
Rude teacher
Outwardly rude and condescending towards students who are unsure about particular text, when students caught on that if you are wrong she will demean them-they stayed silent and this prompted her to compare us to a graveyard that couldn't read. Do all the homework and extra credit online well then you'll pass but don't expect your GPA to be okay.
Very unprofessional. Takes a while to reply to your emails, and when she does the responses are forced and literally dont answer the topics. As if she doesnt understand whats being asked. Non serious attitude towards students. Not at all helpful. Id never take her again
Great professor, goes above & beyond what is expected. Students rate her low due to THEIR own performance in the class. It's not Professor Brown's fault you failed. Put in the work, use index cards, study in groups, go to tutoring. Practice what you don't know. Accounting isn't for everyone, but laziness won't help! You get out what you put in.
Awful
She isnt a teacher, She is an instructor, It is very intimidating and I think if you have her class you need to be in your book at least a month before class . The Tests are super difficult but if you put 100% of your effort in this you will pass. Don't expect to make an A even if you do your best. Try to find better if you have time. Avoid it if
Looking at all the past reviews its clear she hasnt changed in attitude over the years. Very true that she is rude to her students if you ask a question about anything that was unclear in the text. She cant be bothered to explain things and will tell you reread the book or send you straight to tutoring. Even as a straight A student I dont recommend
Although Im lazy I still managed to pass this class, so anyone that fails just didnt apply themselves enough. Very good class, shes actually funny and brings food to all the classes. She also helps you because although she lectures fast, she explains in detail if you go visit her and ask for help. Really cool professor.
Okay, so this class is going to be what you make it. The effort you put into it by staying on it everyday may help you. She doesn't help 1%. Expect to read over the chapter a lot. It is tough work and the way you are graded is top heavy. If you are already have a history in this field. You'll be fine. I would say avoid it. It is a pain in the gut.
Homework does not match the quizzes and she is no help when you email her, don't take her class. If you cannot learn it on your own, this will not be the class for you. Limited time to figure out the quiz because it is not what you studied. She says its there but it clearly has not been updated since 2017. DCCCD pays her to do nothing.
She was very rude. She pushes way to much for a 8 week class. She does not give enough time to study and does not help you. She rushes lecture. She's like a high school teacher and expects you to only focus on her class. NO EXTRA CREDIT AND NO MAKE-UPS
This professor is the worst Ive ever had. Does not care for students and its as if no one was leading the class. I dropped her class and ended up taking accounting at Richland with professor Bekele, made an A.
Take her if you want to fail.
I wish eastfield had more options for accounting professors. Her class was extremely hard, she doesnt teach. Stay away, your gpa will thank you.
Very unprofessional, rude, and condescending. I asked her to clarify some questions regarding a lesson we went over and she accused me of not reading the book and being lazy. She refused to help me understand the lesson because "I don't do your homework for you." The class itself is not hard, just don't expect any help from her.
This teacher is nice, although she can be SUPER sassy, sarcastic and rude, she is nice and goes out of her way brings snacks everyday. Not only does she bring snacks but gives out candies, stress balls, etc. Students must read over the book and the practice problems, otherwise they will FAIL!! Professor brown teaches fast, to say the least. STUDY!
I do not recommend this Professor for any classes. She's rude and very condescending. She is not approachable when it comes to asking questions about an assignment, she will make you feel like you didn't read the syllabus. There are no clear instructions on any assignments, and she just expects you to know what to do. beware!!
Amazing professor. Highly recommend!
Regina Brown is a B***of professor. When you email her for help she accuses you that you did not learn the material and that you should take your time to review it and uses "the syllabus" as an excuse. Many people in her class had problems and she did not care. The final is worth half your grade. DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!
If you're going to take this online, the teacher is pretty much useless. There is soooo much information, it's crazy that they expect a student to learn that much in a short amount of time.
Run and don't look back
Grading is not clear....thinking I worked my rear end off for an A and I made an 82. She offers end of semester bonuses that did nothing for my grade. I put off taking this course as long as I could since she was the only professor but had to bite the bullet. Glad to be done!
Late getting the class online. Changed the syllabus in the middle of the semester. Does not include ALL coursework at the beginning of the semester. She had THE WRONG BOOK, and blamed the students for not understanding her instructions. She is the most unorganized and condescending professor I have ever had the displeasure of working with.
She posted the syllabus 2 days after classes started then changed it 1/2 through the course making 3 "extra credit" assignments required. She refused to make any of these assignments available until 18 days from the end of the course. One of the assignments referred to a book we were not furnished. She is hard to communicate with, and unorganized.
Challenging. Difficult. Asked questions, received patronizing responses. Took in a short semester, covered 14 chapters. Homework assignment for ea. chapter. 3 timed quizzes (80 min ea) w/20-25 questions ea. A 80 min final exam also 80 min, but 50 questions. Took 10-12 hours per chapter to complete work. Cannot recommend.
Very disorganized. Continues to change, grading and points for assignments throughout the semester as well as requirements for completing work. Gives a one page update every week with the new changes.
Unresponsive to emails and created one teams invite that includes all of her students, so you see questions and answers from all sorts which creates confusion. The instances when I asked questions, she sounded annoyed and rushed to get off the teams call or give short answers when she did respond.
She has to be one of the worst professors teaching right now. The attitude she carries to class everyday makes it seem like she barely wants to teach. Also, when she explains EVERY concept and we ask questions, which is VERY normal for students; she gets very frustrated with them and answers with a bad attitude degrading them rather than helping.
Would not recommend taking this class
I don't recommend taking this class and the attitude of the professor she has not recommended at all
This professor makes the class a struggle - unhelpful and condescending when questions are asked. Ungodly workload, even for a short term. But unstuck study helped me stay afloat. Tough class, but doable with the right study tools.
Worst Teacher I have ever had the displeasure of learning from. She is terrible her quiz's are worth 60% of your grade and the questions are so vague. She needs to stick to the material offered by the publisher because the material she puts together are FULL of errors and hard to understand. If you ask for clarification she won't give it to you.
Her emails never answered any of my questions. He was less than helpful. If you take her class (DONT!) make sure to study hard and know what you're doing during the semester because the final is worth 60% of your final grade! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!
