A really nice teacher, not the easiest teacher ever, but you learn a lot.
Mrs. Huse is absolutely amazing! She has a passion for Biology and loves being up there. She is willing to answer any questions you might have, she will even talk to you after class about anything. She is also a fantastic lab instructor. I would recommend her for both lec. and lab. Study her notes very well and you can get an A.
Mrs. Huse is AMAZING. I refuse to take any other biology classes from any other teacher but her. She makes sure you know your stuff but keeps her classes light hearted and fun! DEFINATELY go with her!
she knows what she is talking about. she has very interesting stories and good slides.
She is an overall horrible teacher. her ethics are ridiculous. She does know her stuff, but the way she goes about teaching it is hard to get. Also she doesn't like anyone coming in late, she will keep the door locked, and if you leave before her class is up... don't bother coming back. That goes for bathroom breaks, etc. basically find another one

I had her for lab and she was great! Just bring your lab manual everyday and she goes through it. Classwork is in groups. 2 practical exams (50 ques, no mult choice just blank spaces). Exams are tough since you have 2 minutes to answer and spelling counts. The whole class is just memorizing. Pretty easy class.
Show up, be on time, take notes, and study hard to pass this class. Not an easy A, but a great class. Best lectures I've ever heard! Lots of funny stories, willing to answer any questions, a really great person!
Mrs. Huse knows Biology and she has high expectations of her students. Her teaching standards are very high as well. Pay attention, don't miss class, and you will do well in her class.
Probably one of the all around best teachers I've ever had as far as teaching the materila and making it interesting. However she definitely isn't easy but if you show up you're guaranteed at least a C.
She's a great professor. Lectures are interesting but there are no reviews for the test. Her tests aren't hard to study for b/c she's pretty clear on what you should know. In lab, be sure to bring your manual & study well for the practical. I've done well on all of them by studying the notes & parts of the manual she talks about. Great teacher!
she allows you to be exempt from her finals and is very very nice. I had her more then once and love her...she's the BEST!!!
she is a really good teacher, she tells you exactly what she expects and she tells it like it is. she will also give many examples of what she is teaching and will answer any and all questions you have. you can also be exempt from her final as well!!!.....SHE IS GREAT!!!
Awesome Teacher. Don't be late to class, I had to look away when people came in late. Tests are fairly easy and she has a passion for the subject...dont be absent more than 3 times in a semester and you could be exempt from the comprehensive final exam.
Very good, interesting lectures. you must attend class and must read to pass
Test are straight from the notes, explains everything in a way where i can understand it so clearly its amazing. her examples and explanations are easy to comprehend. GReat PRof.!
Attend class. If you are one to pay attention in class and fully understand her lecture notes, you are guaranteed a passing grade. Ask questions. She is open to questions all throughout the semester. You are given the choice to not take the final if you didn't miss too many days. Lastly, be on time. You don't want to be late. (Trust me. I know.)
Amazing teacher, her lectures are very fun, not boring. Go to class take good notes, because the exams (only 4) are based on them. I didn't get the book and still made an A. Don't miss more than 3 days and your automatically exempt from the Exam! She is hilarious. If I could take her for every class I would :)
Cannot be late. Lectures and uses overhead. Overall good proffessor, you just have to take good notes and listen. :]
Excellent teacher.
Great teacher, just go to class, just don't be late!
if you really love biology and you really want to learn it take her but if your like me and you hate biology and dont give a crap about it DONT TAKE HER!! she really really really teaches like really really teaches. my friend was taking bio for majors and i was taking nonmajors with her and i was doing more than my friend!!!
take good notes because she wont give any reviews your notes are your reviews. show up on time or dont show up at all cuz she will lock you out if you dont show up on time. once again if you hate biology dont take her! dont buy the text book i never even opened it
She does explain the material. But she is loud and rude. And this nonsense of you leave don't come back, if you are a minute late don't come in doesn't make sense. I paid for this class and I have the right to attend it. It doesn't matter if you have diarrhea or if you kid is sick. Your leaving or coming up late is supposedly a "distraction".
I don't recommend unless you want to feel you are back in the military.
Showing up on time is DEFINITELY in your best interest. All test questions come directly from lecture (don't bother buying the book) and she loves to throw in a trick question to keep you on your toes. There are no test reviews but study your notes you'll do well. If you miss 2 or less classes you can opt out of the final. Recommended!
shes a nice person but her exams are hella hard. the practical was grulling. it was all tricky questions. she also uses the same exam for all of her classes so if you have the class dat gets the exam first you got the short end of the stick. most of dem kids ask for the Q and end up with A.s. She's hella hard thou
HARD HARD HARD.... "CURVE BALLS" IS THE NAME OF HER EXAMS!
The lab practicals are EXTREMELY hard. Even if you know the manual inside out and memorized every single word in it, you can barely make a B in it! Dr. H please have mercy on us!
She is an amazing professor! Yes, her tests are challenging, but if you listen and ask questions you will make a good grade. The lab practicals were not that bad; thorogh studying of notes is definitely required. Be there every class and show some initiative and you'll do well! Last, but not least... just have fun with it!
Hard exams, very hard exams. Not much extra credits, and practicals make you think you are in the wrong class because they have very little to do with book. Don't recommend unless it's your only class
Outstanding teacher. She makes sure that the student is engaged and makes the information accessible. There are several opportunities for extra credit, and anyone claiming her exams/practicals were "grueling" flat-out DIDN'T pay attention in the slightest. A minimum amount of studying would suffice. Just pay attention. Otherwise, DON'T TAKE IT.
She is a very nice lady, always making sure her students understand what she is teaching!!!! she might seem mean or srtict at first but i would take her over and over again, there is a lot of opportunity for extra credit (lots) and her lab practicles are common sense! just as long as you pay attention in her class.
Mrs. Huse is a tough teacher, but if you're willing to pay attention and learn, something, you will succeed, because this lady knows her stuff! You must buy the $100 lab manual (she wrote it) and study hard for the practicals and quizzes. NEVER miss a lab, or your grade will suffer!!
She keeps lecture interesting and makes it easy to learn. There were lots of opportunities for extra credit and her class was one I actually enjoyed taking.
Professor Huse is a great professor! She is very clear and precise, but she is very open to the student's replies and opinions. Class attendance is mandantory, and if you do not skip more than 3 classes you can drop the final. If you are a Biology major, you will love her! She is up on the latest research and incorporates the info in her lectures!:)
I had absolutely NO interest in science until I took her summer Bio 1408 class! She may come off as strict at first, but she makes her lectures very interesting. She is willing to help you with whatever you need in her labs. Just make sure you study study study for your tests and practicals and you should be good to go. Great teacher :)
don't take her class if you not interested in Bio at all... she make the class really interesting and some fun in it, but the lab n class test are so hard... mostly the lab... it drive most of the people crazy in my class... Bio student A, those not bio major n bad with remembering detail detail....ya detail.. C- grade for sure
took her LAB and Class... she made the lab interesting but is hard as in super hard, u have to be good at spelling and remember all the little detail... her class is boring like hell most of the student falling asleep because she talk too much the whole period is talking talking about the slide... bio major would love her, non-bio GL...
I LOVE HER!!! She is so nice and she explains things very well! I HATED biology before her class but I'm actually thinking about changing my major because of her. As long as you show up to class and pay attention her tests are easy and she has all multiple choice! She made it so interesting and I'll really miss her as a teacher!
She is nice and teaches very well. But by God her exams are super hard & tricky. Make sure you attend all lectures and don't miss any & make sure you write all the notes. If you do so, you will make the A. If you are the busy type& have no time to study then she is not for you. Go to Shady instead. Also she doesn't give any extra credit!
Love her! Took Jalilvand for 1406 managed to pull through with an A because of her extra credit but her class was very confusing & hard to understand the SLC lady taught it better. Then I took Huse for 1407 and I understood her 100% Huse makes things a little bit easier to understand & gives you the important facts not every single word in the book
Best teacher ever!!!! Do not pass her up. She explains everything until you understand. I will admit her tests are a little tricky, but if you study, you should be fine. I also took her for lab. EASY!!! The practicals were a piece of cake. Definitely would recommend her to anybody :) Hope you like her as much as I did.
She is amazing! She's a tough cookie but if you want to learn Science there's no one better! I've taken her two years in a row..1406 & 1407 and I wouldn't have anyone else. Take her if you're serious about science.
I had Professor Huse for both 1408 and 1409. I LOVED her class. Yes, her tests are difficult, and yes, you must study. But she made biology actually interesting to me, and she really knows what she is talking about. Bottom line, best science teacher I have ever had.
Prof. Huse is awesome. You don't need the book, as it is all lecture based. Don't let that scare you. Attendance is mandatory as she doesn't post her powerpoint online. Lab was straightforward, read it and know the previous lab. Practical was know all the labs. Tests are from the notes, know them well. She lets you drop final if you attended class.
I took her for both 1406 and 1407 because I loved her so much! She is an excellent teacher. Attendance is mandatory if you want to pass the class. All the questions on the exams are based off of notes in class. Do not even bother buying the expensive book. Take very detailed notes in class and you will do great!
She's just amazing that sums it up! Don't worry about the book just take notes and sit up front because she writes on the board a lot. Her stories are awesome and so much fun! Enjoy her because I wished she taught more classes!
Best biology professor I have ever taken. I was retaking this course because the first time I had gotten a C but with Professor Huse, an A is achievable. You must go to class and you must take notes. Anything she says is fair game for the test. Her tests can be tricky but if you study your notes its not that hard to make an A.
She is an awesome professor, tests are straight from powerpoints, they are tricky but if you study and KNOW the material you will do good if you sort of know it you will make a C all answer choices are designed to trick you. 4 tests and the lab are the only grades in her class so study hard!
Prof. Huse is awesome! Had her for both lab and lecture. No book needed. It is all powerpoint in lecture. Don't let that scare you. Attendance IS mandatory. Miss less than 3 classes and you can exempt the final. Lab was straightforward, read it and know the previous lab. Practical was know all the labs. Tests are from the notes, know them well.
My favorite college professor ever! I have taken several of her biology labs and lectures. She knows her stuff really well and is very interesting to listen to. Be careful about attendance and tardiness. It will pay off. Memorable teacher... you'll be happy you had her!
Professor Huse is an excellent professor who will teach you A LOT about biology. I felt like I learned much more in that class in terms of volume of knowledge, than any other course. Her tests are tricky however, and attendance is mandatory. Do not disrespect her, and pay attention. She will prepare you for the University level work.
One of if not the best professor I have ever taken at TCC. Speaks loud and clear. She comes off very militaristic and scary, but she is so nice and has no problem giving her time to students who need extra help and want to learn. You don't need the book, just take EXTRA notes besides the powerpoint and you will do great in her class.
I took her for Biology Lab it was easy. She explains really well on the stuff you need to know for the practical. Everytime you have lab you have a ten question quiz. Other than that that's it you just have to put your time in studying
Mrs. Huse is an excellent professor! Her class is very passable - just take good notes and study them (textbook is not required). If you miss less than three classes, you can exempt the final. She's so good at explaining things that you're guaranteed to learn some things from her class.
I usually fall asleep in her lecture. Her tests are hard and tricky. If you take her, study your note like every word and get to understand them well. Her practical lab is soooo hard. well, it was a hard class to get an A for me. Be repaired if you take her!
Very rude at times. One time she would not release our class even though the time was up. I don't see why the class is made so difficult since none of the people in the class were ever majoring in Bio. Her tests are very tricky (don't know why).
If you're taking Bio, you HAVE to take Huse. I was scared to take biology because in 1406 i almost made an A but missed it by two points. With Huse I thought I would barely make a B. But I paid attention, took notes, and went to class. Its really that easy. If you can take good notes, you're good to go!! Good Luck! :)
I took Huse for Lab its easy just pay attention take notes in lab. You have to attend her labs. Every time you have lab the first thing you do is take a quiz over what you covered the previous week. Study hard because her practical's are not easy. Study every day because you can't cover everything you learned in a few weeks.
Easiest science class I have ever taken. Huse is a great professor! strongly recommend her. her lab practicals are really easy she tells you everything you need to know. Take Huse!
She is a great professor! She explains everything if you don't understand. Biology is a tough subject but the way she teaches it makes it easy. Just study your notes and go to class everyday and you should get an A.
Professor Huse is tough on you but she is the best. If you desire a straight forward, extremely knowledgable and organized professor then she is the one you need. You must not miss class, and write everything she says and displays in her PP if you want and A. She is beyond excellent.
There was a bit of intimidation when enrolling for this class, since she is the co-author for BIOL1408 Lab Manual. Ms. Huse definitely knows biology and is worth taking. She does NOT tolerate anyone who arrives late , so do NOT be late or plan to be counted absent. Exams are not easy, but not hard either. Show up, study the lecture notes and pass!
You have to write everything down to make good grades on her test. Memorize ALL notes!Great teacher, I learned a lot.
I am a Junior and Mrs. Huse is my favorite teacher to date. I took her for BIOL-1406 and 07. Go every day, write down WHAT SHE SAYS not just what's on her powerpoint. She is one of those special, rare teachers that expects your best and you are better for it. Miss three days or less and you can exempt the final. Wonderful and crazy smart, take her!
Took her for summer 1 session for lab. Very knowledgeable teacher and no nonsense.Come to class and take notes in lab manual. You do take a lot of quizzes but it helps for the practicals.Practicals aren't easy but if you study hard will get a good grade.May come off strict but is nice : ).I would take another class with Huse due to learning so much.
Took her for lab this summer the lab book is needed she did put the manual together the material is straight forward it was just a lot to take in during the summer you will need to take time out to study for the labs the spelling does count she is very nice lady just means business while she is teaching
Test are tricky and she does not give out review. She is strict on coming to class on time.
You will learn many interesting things from Professor Huse. But ,prepare to work and study nonstop for her class. She will tell you what is on her test. In her words "everything on the notes will be on the test". No review givens in class, study all the notes and memorize every details to pass. She's very anal about coming to class late.
Ms. Huse lectures in a way that makes the material understandable. Unfortunately, there are downsides to her class, main one being that her practicals are spell sensitive meaning if you misspell a word, it will be marked wrong. No partial credit given even if the misspelled wrong was correct. No reviews before practicals.
Mrs. Huse is an excellent professor. She knows how to teach and knows exactly what she is talking about. Her tests are really tricky and can be hard but they're really not. NO BOOK NEEDED! Take GOOD notes, show up to EVERY class, STUDY, and pass! I would really recommend her. I'm taking her again for BIOL-1407. And I am a Biology major.
I've taken professor Huse for both Bio 1406 and 1407. She's an amazing professor. Lectures are interesting and she can be comical. A LOT OF NOTE TAKING. No book really required. 3 Exams and a final. 3 or less absences and can be exempt from final. Be on time. EVERYTHING FROM NOTES. You can never take enough notes in her class. Be tuned in. STUDYYY
Everyone reading my rating should take note of this. Her tests? The most trickiest questions ever. You can know all the material going into it but the questions WILL GET YOU. She doesn't upload powerpoints so you MUST go to class and write down or type (recommend typing to keep up). Absolutely no reviews so study everything. My only B so far 89
One of my favorite teachers! Relates material to real life situations and makes it interesting. Tests are not hard if you show up to class and study your notes. Only 3 tests and 1 final and she lets you drop the final if your attendance is good. Overall loved this class.
She is very clear with her grading. Must attend class and take notes of her PowerPoint and lecture. Test are hard, so you must understand the material and not just memorize your notes to pass.
First day of class i wanted to run away. But Regina Huse is a great teacher! Here lectures are always interesting, never boring. She relates class to her life events. She is very helpful and her ways of teaching help to better understand the material. Her test can be tricky but if you write down all notes and know the material you will do fine.
While this class is challenging, you really will learn a lot. She teaches in a way you understand, but her tests are tricky. You really have to make an effort to get a good grade. She seems really strict at first, but her class is so interesting. It's really a great class, but be sure to study!
There are only 4 tests including the final. No reviews before any test. Does not post PowerPoints. Her tests are sometimes tricky and hard. If you miss more than 3 classes, you miss the chance to drop a test grade. Lectures are clear and easy to follow. Taking a different teacher for Biology 1407.
Huse is a really great teacher. She is tough, but she is very clear when she is teaching. No book needed. 4 test, including final. Lets you drop final or any other test grade if you have 3 or less absences. Her tests are really tricky, but if you study hard and read each question carefully, you will do good. I would definitely take her again.
I LOVE biology because of this woman! I took her for 1406 and 1407, and I'm so glad I was able to! She is the absolute BEST! If you miss less than 4 classes, and you take the final, she drops your lowest test! TAKE HER!
Loved her class! But you have to study for her tests! Dont need the book for BIO 1406. Wanted to take her for 1407 but it was all booked, so i'm going to wait until next semester to take her! Dont think it'll be an easy class, but she does make it easier to understand! Don't miss a class, all notes are given in class, students don't get a copy. :)
Professor Huse is knowledgeable in her field of study and her class is not really difficult. However, she carries a lot of negative energy, does not seem like she is a people person, nor does she like to help her students. I don't recommend taking her for those reasons.
Just finished up w/ the Fall Semester and I figured I'd create this account just to give my input on Prof. Huse, so if you're reading this Mrs. Huse, congratulations.. You were awesome this semester and I'll see you next semester! People mistake her personality, but I enjoyed her. If you're pre-health, bring you're A-Game.
By far the best professor I've had yet. I don't like biology but she makes it so interesting and fun to learn about. I look forward to going to her class each week. She's so funny too! I highly recommend taking her classes, you won't regret it.
College-level Biology for majors is not easy. The tests are going to be tough regardless of who you take. Mrs. Huse is THE BEST professor! I made an A+ on all 3 tests and was exempt from the final. No book needed. No homework. Show up to class, pay attention, and study. Anyone who has anything bad to say about Mrs. Huse didn't put in the effort!
I have her for lab only. She seems mean at first, but she is funny. She teaches very well! very clear and straight forward. Her labs are easy. Have a quiz once a week, the questions come from the lab manual. Practicals are mainly about the experiments you do, not so much definitions. She is very helpful.
Tough class, but it is a tough subject. The good part is you will learn regardless of what you make in the class. She expects you to know 100% of the words she puts on the board and of what comes out of her mouth for the exam. Same thing for lab and lecture.
By far the best professor at TCC. Both her lab and lecture classes are very enjoyable and easy, as long as you pay attention. Every class she makes me laugh so hard, to the point I'm almost in tears. She's hilarious, helpful, and overall a great teacher. She makes the material really interesting and easy to learn. HIGHLY recommend taking her.
Barely passed. Can be impatient at times.
TAKE HER!!!!!! I took her for both lecture and lab, and she is AMAZING! She doesn't give a lot of homework, and her lectures are really fun, and easy to follow. In lab she can come off as rude, but she wants you to do it right! The book for lecture is not used, but lab IS! Follow her very clear instructions, and have fun. Take her if you can!
She is one of The best professors I've had. She definitely makes the class a challenge and knows how to academically discipline her classes well. this course is certainly not a walk in the park but if you are serious about learning within this major (as i am) then i recommend her 110%. she also teaches a lot of important and memorable life lessons.
Professor Huse definitely knows her stuff. She comes off as mean and stoic but she really does care for her students. She is a very educated woman so she has high expectations for her students. You have to put in a lot of effort or you will fail, straightforward lectures, no homework, 4 exams (4th one optional), extremely strict about tardiness.
Mrs Huse makes learning a hard subject very easy. She knows exactly what she teaches & comes off sassy in the beginning but quickly you learn she is hilarious!!! Her test are hard but there isnt much material to study for each test which makes it easier. GO TO THE EXTRA CREDIT OFFERED, 5 points on a test makes a huge difference. would take again
She is a great professor. Just pay attention in the class. Do not miss any. Take notes. Her exams exactly from materials that she discussed in the class. it is possible to get an A
I had prof Huse for lab. Her class wasn't hard, just make sure you really study for those practicals. And don't rely on the review alone to study. Overall good.
She's a great professor just don't be tardy!! She will come off mean or rude at first but she warms up. She gives extra credit a couple times during the semester. read and study over each lesson really well for practicals.
Greatest prof i have ever had. Knowledgeable in her field. Her lecture is interesting but will be boring at times. Hilarious when it comes to her past husband. Optional textbook. 3 tests and 1 dropable final. No quizz or homework. Show up, take notes, record if possible. She gives on the tests what she said on lecture. Lab is hard.
Mrs. Huse is awesome! I had her for Lec/LAB and she was very clear on what you needed to know for tests. No homework and she gives extra credit too! As long as you listen and take notes and study you will be fine!
Mrs. Huse is Awesome, I wish she could teach all my sciences. Her class is pretty straight forward 4 tests and drops the lowest grade. She makes science very interesting and makes the hard material very easy. I Would recommend her for any science !
I took her for 1406, she is the exact same as she was then. She is funny, and teaches the material well. Tests are straight from the PowerPoints, and what she says. She reminds me of Dorthy from the Golden Girls, solid choice, take her!
Ms. Huse is an amazing professor, shes invested and relatable. Students who struggled in the class were the one not focusing on her detailed lecture. Record the lecture, take good notes, simple as that!
GREAT professor! Every time I think about her class coming to an end makes me wanna cry, and this is coming from someone who struggled for 1406. She is amazing and I wish she could teach all of my science courses. She is passionate about what she teaches and her tests come straight from her lectures, so take good notes and study! :) ENJOYED HER!
Great lectures; she simplifies the complex information in the textbook. She has a lot of interesting anecdotal inputs during lecture to make the curriculum relatable and the lessons memorable. As far as the tests go: you either know it or you don't. Just study the night before and you'll be fine.
Ms. Huse is caring, accessible, and always willing to answer questions, but she takes no crap. Book is helpful, but don't need it if you pay attention in lecture. Lets you drop one test if you miss <3 classes, includes final. She REALLY HATES LATENESS. She locks the doors right after the class starts, so be on time or be locked out.
First of all she hate lateness, so if you love sleeping don't take her in the morning cause you have to be there on time or she will lock the door. There are 3 tests and the final, one is dropped. HER QUESTIONS ARE FROM THE NOTES, IF YOU PAID ATTENTION IN THE CLASS AND STUDY WELL-> YOU WILL GET GOOD GRADE. Also her lectures are not boring.
I like mrs huse, her test are like the lecture. Study and you will be fine. The lab final are hard and spelling counts.
She was okay. Her lectures were informative but was not the same as the test. When reading the posts other people make please read closely. She is tough and the best advice she will give you is to just study.
Ms. Huse was a phenomenal professor. Her funny anecdotes helped you get to know her but were always on topic. The lecture was 4 tests and that's it so if you take really good, detailed notes and study you'll do great!
One of the hardest professors Ive taken at TCC. if you want to fail. Take her. She doesnt post anything online so you have to show up to class and doesnt allow you to leave to go to the bathroom... like seriously l.
Amazing Professor. She has such a great sense of humor, and covers everything on the test with her lectures. If you study the notes, you'll do very well. It's biology, so it's a lot of things you most likely won't know (words like Deuteromycota or Diatoms), but if you study a few days before exams, you'll be fine. She makes learning enjoyable.
In her lectures, she makes sure to go in depth with the important things and not focus on the negligible. If you have trouble understanding, she's willing to go through the material over again to make sure you get it. Very nice lectures, especially if you have a natural interest in biology - she keeps your attention well. Study well easy exams.
She has a great personality and tells jokes that relate to the material, keeping things fun and entertaining. There is a lot of material, but her tests relate directly to the notes, so if you write everything she has on her PowerPoints and study that, you'll make great grades on your tests. She is a great Professor, and I'll really miss her.
Mrs. Huse is an amazing professor. The stories she told in class were my favorite thing out of the class, really made it fun. There's 3 tests including the final but you can be excluded from it if you are passing with a C. The tests are exactly as the notes STUDY YOUR NOTES. Lab is harder than lecture-heads up. Good luck.
Im not sure what class the last reviewer was in. I also took her this semester and she was great. Not a high school teacher. Tough, yes. Lots of material, yes. I want to go to med school so I need to know this stuff. Anyone who didnt pass just wasnt working enough.
One of the tougher classes i've took, however you walk away with a lot of knowledge. I would recommend studying 2 weeks in advance. Take good notes, record, and study EVERYTHING. I had her for lecture only and javlilvand for lab (dynamic duo, highly recommend). Test are super tricky but an A is still achievable. 3 test, 1 final (can be dropped).
HARDEST CLASS I EVER TOOK. IN ORDER TO PASS YOU MUST STUDY AHEAD.
She's really good. She did teach everything on lecture, and it will be on the test. Study her lectures, you will be pass with an A. Make sure do not skip her class
I absolutely love professor Huse! She's fantastic. I've taken her for twice and plan on taking her for a 3rd time in the summer. Her class do rely on just test (no quizzes or hw), but if you take good notes and actually study your notes, you'll be fine. DON'T BE LATE!! If you're late, might as well skip because she doesn't tolerate any tardiness.
The lectures are great, the material given in class matches the test but you must listen with great notes. She make her expectation known and if followed all will be well. Attendance is critical and helpful to great success. There is an SI attached to the class which will push you harder to study the material. Great teacher for health career.
Absolutely LOVED her! She really knows what shes teaching and you can tell shes passionate about it. Very clear expectations. She is very strict with tardiness, if youre late dont even bother showing up. Her tests are easy as long as you take good notes and study regularly!
Huse was a great professor, her lectures are easy to follow if you listen and take notes. there are 4 exams but you can drop one as long as you don't miss more than 3 days in the semester. her tests are just like the lectures as well as the lab practical. Definitely recommend taking her
I took professor Huse again for Bio II and I'm still impressed by how well she can maintain attention and keep her lectures so interesting. Make sure you study lecture notes very well for exams. Honestly, I wish she taught other branches of science so I can take her again and again. I would recommend everyone to take her class!
If you're into Biology, her lessons WILL NOT BORE YOU. She's the best professor I've ever had on this campus so far. Clear & easy to understand, and BE SURE TO WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING IN CLASS. 3 Unexcused absences will not give you the ability to drop one of your lowest test grades.
She is a 10/10 professor. No matter what bio 1406 is a hard class but she makes it so interesting and breaks down everything that its almost impossible to not comprehend the material. Shes so passionate and makes it so fun to learn. 3 test in lecture and can skip the final if you missed less than 3 classes. Absolutely lover her. TAKE HER
Took her for both biology 1406 and 1407, and she is one of the best professors I've ever had at TCC. She shows you all the notes you need in order to pass the test. As long as you keep up with studying your notes you'll be just fine.
I took this class expecting the worst outcome, however, ended semester with a B+. She is very passionate and has a good sense of humor. Prof. Huse always finds relatable ways to explain the information. I don't think I ever used my textbook but I did take very good notes! Subject is a handful but if you study, you will do great!
I wish Ms. Huse taught more Bio classes. She is awesome and easy to approach if you are struggling. Her lectures are reflected directly to how her exams will be like. It is important to attend the study groups in the SLC as this can be really helpful. I would take her class again and wish she taught other bio classes.
Great professor and this is why I took her for Bio 1406 and Bio 1407.
Professor Huse is an awesome professor. I underestimated her lectures during a summer class(I didn't have too much time due to work). Definitely need to listen to her lectures word for word and take notes because if you dont you will not make it. Her class is not hard its actually easy. Just make sure you have the time to do the work.
Simply do not take her. She makes every single test, quiz, and exam multiple choice, MULTIPLE ANSWER. This means on every test, each question may have multiple answers but it doesn't mean that there is always more than one answer. She was not understanding whatsoever, if you're struggling all she says to you is " You should probably study more."
Horrible! Wouldnt recommend her at all. She doesnt seem to care often referring you back 2 PP when you have questions, stating everything is there. Multiple answers on a multiple choice test/quizzes. I put in time to actually learn material, studied and completed all assignments and still failed smh. Must pass 3/4 test to actually have a chance.
Make sure you listen and takes notes to her LECTURE PowerPoints, otherwise you will fail. Her exams are very difficult, you need to actually study!
I did take an online version of her class because of the pandemic, so there is a little leeway for that, but I had a different professor for my lab and it was like they didn't communicate with each other at all. They were completely different so it was hard to study for the lab practicals and lecture exams. The tests has multiple answer questions.
taken during a pandemic. lecture & lab were 2 different professors, but the lab prof was always at least one week ahead so nothing ever matched up. The questions have multiple choices but if you miss one its an automatic 0 on that question. tried emailing her and it felt like I was being such a bother to her with the way she replied.
This is a tough class that covers lots of information. Be prepared to take lots of notes, and do outside studying. This is not the class to take for a slacker. Your grade consist of 4 exams and that's it. Pay attention and be prepared then you will do fine. You must be motivated and focused; this class requires lots of time and focusing.
Grade only consists of 4 exams but most are select all that apply, so if you select all correct but get one wrong you miss the whole question. The final exam was all select that apply with 100 questions. Everyone in my class always had questions but when we emailed her she never responded.
This is a heavy lecture and test course. Its lot of reading. Be prepared to study outside of class and at 2/3hrs a day just to retain information. It was taken online so that does make it a little more harder, but everything you need to know is in lectures so take notes and a lot of them. The test are a big chunk of your grade so study study study
Had her for lecture and a separate professor for lab. Her lectures online were awful like all you could hear was SMACKING! I gave up and would just read the lecture slides. Her 4 tests were awful select all that apply. what a joke. This is an entry-level science class she made hard. In organic chemistry, I least made a B. Just take someone else!
This Professor I did not have the best experience with she has all these lengthy lectures I have taken notes, done quizlets, poster boards like she suggested, got a tutor, studied from sun up to sun down no matter what I failed every exam this Professor exam format is not good at all it sets you up to fail. Do not take this course!
This Professors exam format is not good at all it sets you up to fail. Do not take this course! This course should be a Honors college course There is no way this course should have been this hard on a Non Science Major basic course. I am personally upset in 1408 I made an B 1409 An D smh and I work my rear off studying :(
I'm surprised with the bad reviews , its honestly not that hard if you listen to lec and slides you will be fine! the weekly quizzes are tedious, thats why i got a B because i missed some of them, but its not that hard.
I took her online and you want to make sure your remember things photographically. Word by word. Picture by picture. Remember that this class is already a lot of memorization. She is tough only because you have to literally know everything. No multiple choice. Good luck.
In-person is DRAMATICALLY different! I took both experiences. But her live lectures are great. She is like a mother to you. She tells you all you need to know in her class, but she is driven by passion. It really made class fun because she genuinely loves what she teaches. I also think shes very funny. *Make sure to study this material diligently!
She is an overall amazing professor. The lectures do tend to have a lot of information but if you take good notes you should do fairly well on the tests. For labs there is quizzes at the beginning of it but the quizzes tend to be straight forward. She tends to make jokes which are 8/10. Overall an easy and understanding course/ professor
Prof huse is definitely not the best professor I have taken but not the worst either. She can sound a little rude in her emails. Her tests where not difficult for me. Just study the lecture notes and u will pass. But dont even think about having ur grade curved because it simply wont happen even if its a 89.4. Tough course, lots of studying
Huse did not communicate with students well. During the freeze in Feb, she took forever to tell us if our exam was delayed. Her lectures were terrible, couldnt pause or rewind easily + VERY long w no substance. Lab and lecture didnt match up every week (different profs). Please take someone else if you can, especially for the online course!!
Alright, this class beat my butt, but I'm glad I got my butt kicked by Mrs. Huse! The lectures are a lot, the tests definitely require weeks of studying, but you will learn a lot while in this class. She's knowledgeable and funny. Strict and very wise. Bio is hard regardless who you take, but at least with her, you know you're in great hands.
She is an amazing teacher for lectures and labs! If you take notes for lectures and study constantly you will be fine for tests!! Four exams including the final if you do great on the first 3 you can skip the final and your lowest exam grade is dropped. Study a lot in this class!! #quizlet
Took her for Bio 1406 and 1407 because I love the way she teaches. So easy to understand as long as you pay attention to her lectures. She doesn't give any homework, but make sure you study for the exams, and you'll be fine. I got a B for 1406 and a C for 1407, but it was because I didn't do so great in lab, and I had different professors.
She's charismatic and knowledgeable and you will likely learn a lot in this class. However, she refuses to provide any of the powerpoints used for her lectures nor even take pictures of the slides she's going over. The class is specifically designed to be inconvenient. annoying
She's okay, better than the lab prof. Very lecture heavy, not many assignments. I recommend recording the lectures, BUT ALSO PAY ATTENTION IN CLASS. Doesn't provide the powerpoint so write as fast as you can, you can make the notes pretty later. Study... just always study. So much information, its hard to remember it all. Not the class to blow off.
Test are exactly like lecture. Literally memorize your notes if you want an A. She is very passionate about biology which makes her lectures very intriguing. If you do not attend lectures or write down everything, you obviously wont do well. No homework or quizzes, only 4 exams. If you take her for lab, theres a quiz each lab at the start.
I am surprised that she got a high rate, there are no quizzes or Homework, just 4 tests, so if you don't do great there is no makeup for that. Also, she doesn't give any reviews for her tests, all she does is just explain the materials and that is it. There is no power point or notes or pdf, so you have to go to class and write her power points.
I thought she was great. I learned a lot about things I never had thought about before. She makes the class understandable, but you HAVE to be in class. Miss and you will be in trouble fast. That goes for lab too.
good luck lmao. she takes this NON MAJOR class way too seriously. She's a fine biologist, but not a great teacher. The first few exams we had ended up at a class average of 65-70, which should give you an idea of how she grades and tests. Averages after that were even lower sometimes. Too bad shes the only choice for this required course.
Had her for lecture. Only 4 tests, nothing else. No lectures or slides on canvas so if you miss something in class you're screwed. Doesn't let you take pictures of the slides. No test reviews. Locks doors right at the time of class and gives you the dirtiest look ever if you're even a few SECONDS late. My HS IB bio teacher taught me much more!

horrible course. professor is obsessed with talking about diabetes. impossible to get a good grade.
Very sweet biology professor that cares and knows what she is talking about.
Professor Huse's class is tough, but her engaging lectures and emphasis on study make it worthwhile. Use unstuckstudy, Quizlet, and consistent note-taking to succeed. Exams are challenging, but dropping the lowest score helps. Give it your best effort - it pays off.
