Does not help students when help is requested. Does not show up to help teach her own class. Hires GTAs to do her work, they are not well preparded to help the student out. Quizzes are due before the test is due, which defeats the purpose of a quiz. Very rude and not courteous towards students and does not check emails frequently.
Never showed up to class. Hired English Language Learning students to teach class. Rarely responds to e-mails and is rude to students.
She is an ok teacher. She often shows up late for class and she teaches the easy stuff and tests you on the harder stuff. The quizzes are pointless because they are usually right before the test and they are used to take attendence and if you miss three you are screwed. If there is another teacher take them instead.
By far the worst teacher I have ever had in my entire learning career. She showed up to class one time and that was the first day of class. I wouldn't even recognize her if I saw her again. We had to teach ourselves the entire course for the most part. I can honestly say I think I may have gotten dumber after taking this class.
She was often pretty late. Got about a 20 minute bonus on a test once because she was 20 minutes late. Everyone was doing so badly in her class that she gave us 3 study guides for the final that were all basically the same, and once we got the exam it turned out to be the study guides, but with different numbers. Do all the homework.
The worst teacher I have ever had to deal with. Avoid at all costs. Never put the grades online and never responded to emails. "Bad at arithmetic" she would say about herself. Not a fair professor at all. Unapproachable.
Office hours are by appointment only. She teaches the class through examples that are extremely easy, making homework hard; because her examples were not challenging. Homework and tests are on the internet, nothing is graded by hand. Forget partial credit. She also refuses to continue teaching unless the class gives input on how to solve examples.
She was by far the worst math teacher i've ever had in my life. She made a easy subject, college algebra, hell. Her way of doing the problems is pointless and takes so much longer. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Avoid her class... i made an A in all of my high school math classes and failed her first test. All the tests are around a total of 8 questions, which means one small mistake and you're already at a B. Her lectures are impossible and she teaches like you're in middle school.
She is terrible. She can not even do simple math by herself. And in class if the entire class does not answer she waits until they have before moving on. Her tests are impossible and there is a ton of homework that does not count for much. If possible avoid her. Not helpful and you never know your grade in the class all semester.
Literally the worst teacher I've had. Has horrible examples, isn't interested in the subject or helping people and is unbelievably lazy. I am great at math and squeezed out an A at the very end. She is terrible, avoid.
I took this class in high school and took it again to make a good grade, but she made it so much harder. None of her examples are relevant to the homework. The homework and tests are all online so NO PARTIAL CREDIT. She does not explain anything well. Be prepared to learn the material on your own as well as overcome the computer challenge.
Worst math teacher I think I have ever had. She puts the tests in twice and if you do poorly then you're screwed. She has said on many occasions that she doesnt know the material. STAY FAR AWAY IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA.
Though the year was hard i think she was a good teacher. She tries very hard to explain the material clearly. She gives partial credit on tests, drops lowest test grade and drops three lowest hw grades. She had a study session and stayed extra so we knew the material. I emailed her afterward and she helped me.
THE WORST.
Lets just say I have always made A's in math prior to taking her class. My major had me taking the same level math class I took my junior year of high school. She was so confusing that she made me completely forget all the info I already knew and made relearning it impossible.
RUN....didn't fully teach information in necessary time. As a result of this she recorded videos to be taught ONLINE versus in class. Always makes mistakes in class, even her students catch them and make corrections. Avoid at all costs
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Literally awful. College Algebra should have been the easiest class I was taking, but it is my lowest grade. She doesn't teach in class, but teaches through video lectures she posts online. Complete waste of my time. I went to office hours and she just confused me more. Seriously, just don't.
Easy A for me. Goes over examples in class of what is on homework and tests are really easy
She is awful! She goes over maybe 2 examples during class and those examples are helpful for the first 5 homework questions. Oh, and homework is online and she assigns multiple assignments due a week (max was 7 due in a week). She never reviews for tests. Instead, she goes over a brand new section. She gives partial credit on tests, but still hard.
Horrible. One of the worst teachers I've ever had. She doesn't explain well, does one easy example that is nothing like the homework. Avoid her class like the Black Plague.
The pace of the class was too slow. The in class examples were far easier than the test, to the extent that it felt like different material. She was, to be kind, a lousy teacher. She often made mistakes. I wonder how she earned a P.h.D in Math at all.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR GPA! If you have her drop her now. Don't wait. Pay the money if you have to in order to drop. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
Horrible. By far the worst teacher i have ever had. DO NOT take her class.
She is probably the worst math professor I've had at Auburn. I spent 2 months worried about my grade because we had taken 2 tests since the last time she posted grades. I watched as my 89 dropped a letter grade because she failed to keep students up to date. Avoid her at all costs. It's not worth the anxiety to take her class unless you don't care.
DO NOT take Regina Jackson, she is by far the worst math professor at Auburn. Horrible examples, hard to understand, bad office hours. Avoid Regina Jackson
Not my favorite teacher, but she did offer lots of extra help outside class and would answer emails. If you rework all the homework using the videos, you should be find on the test, because the test comes from the homework. Class can be frustrating, but work the homework over and over and you should be fine! She'll help you out if you're trying!
She wasn't what everyone on here made her seem. She was really helpful and offered tons of extra credit. I came out with a high B only because I suck at Trig. Other than that I would recommend her
I took this class online, so I can't say much about Ms. Jackson. I really liked her grade setup. It was very clear and fair. She welcomed questions, but I never really asked any. However, she wasn't great about responding directly to emails. She usually would address any issues I had in the email, but usually not directly to me. I'd recommend.
Homework is extremely hard compared to examples done in class. Bad office hours and calls out students randomly to answer questions! AVOID her at all cost!!!!!!!
WORST TEACHER EVER! DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS! The stuff she teachers in class is completely different from the homework and the test are different from that. She spends an hour on one problem but still moves on to a different section the next class. She waits 2 weeks to give a test all the while covering material you won't test on for another 2 weeks.
Worst teacher I've ever had, i took this same class as a highschooler and understood the concepts better than her way of teaching
By far the worst math class I have ever taken. I end up failing the class . I do not recommend this teacher to anyone!
I consider myself to be a fair person, but I absolutely DO NOT recommend taking her class. Her tests come from the homework, but if you don't already know how to do the problems then the homework is no help. Honestly going to class didn't help either because she wouldn't explain things or answer questions. She did offer some extra credit though.
Professor Jackson was not the best teacher I've had. However, she gives a lot of extra credit and opportunities to make up points that you missed on the tests (she did that for us every test). Honestly, unless you just weren't trying there was no excuse to make below a C in the class. REVIEW THE HOMEWORK BEFORE THE TESTS.
I took math1000 wanting a review from high school, and not wanting to jump into a math class I wasn't ready for my first year of college. I made an A in algebra 2 in high school but made a C in this class. Her notes aren't very helpful because they aren't at the difficulty level of the homework, but she gives lots of extra credit opportunities.
I took this course as a refresher for college. I never went to class and got a 99 in the course even though 5 points of your grade is attendance... She offers a lot of extra credit and gives you homework time in the lab so there isn't a reason not to do it.
Mrs Jackson was a terrible teacher. She was absolutely no help in her office hours either. The Teacher Assistants graded all the tests and the computer graded all the homework. By far the worst Professor!!
Worst math professor at Auburn. Get out while you can. Makes you do in class question sets without explanation and then bombards you with homework and tests that haven nothing to do with in class work and are extremely hard. Has not taught class one thing of math. Had to teach myself by using book.
She is nice, but her class sucks. The worksheets we are given are no way related to the homework. You have to teach yourself the lesson from the book even through she discrourages it. Alot of homework, hard tests. Get out while you can.
She refuses to work actual math problems, even when the entire class has requested for her to do so. She gives work sheets in class that are not related to the homework or tests you will be given. You will be left teaching yourself, and hopefully you are lucky enough to get by with a C.
She does not lecture it is considered an Active Learning class. If you actually want to learn something then don't take her
She teaches nothing in class, and anything she actually does, she gets wrong so only ends up doing one problem per lecture. Homework has to be completely self taught so it's important to get the textbook. She does test correction, but everyone needs them because of her lack of teaching. Get a teacher change.
Honestly don't know how she has a job. If you take her she will be the worst teacher you take at Auburn. Has no business in the teaching profession. She isn't very good at math either.
She is the absolute worst teacher I had this semester. She is probably the worst teacher at Auburn. My 10 year old brother knows how to do math better than she does. One of the first class days, she got a problem wrong and a classmate corrected her and she said "I told y'all not to trust me, I'm not good with numbers." DO NOT TAKE HER. EVER.
Mrs. Jackson honestly wasn't a good teacher at all, but she was so lenient with grades it didn't matter. Allows test corrections for every test and gives back a lot of missed points. If you are good at teaching yourself math, I would recommend her, or get a tutor while taking her. If you rely on the teachers help, I don't recommend her at all.
AVOID TAKING AT ALL COSTS. It's amazing that this woman as a phD. She does not know the subject well; doesn't reply to emails; and acts like an absolute child in class. She let's you rework the problems you missed on the test for points, but she doesn't add them back. You'd learn more from a cereal box than from this woman.
She's nice in person and will assist you in office hours, but she is constantly in a hurry and will not respond to emails within a reasonable time period. To me, this shows that she does not respect her students' time or effort. Her "lectures" are rambling and often do not cover what is on the homework. I only survived with the help of my dad.
GET OUT OF THIS CLASS!! She seems like a nice person but class is basically pointless since she spends the entire class on one problem then realizes she did it wrong half way through. She is lenient when it comes to extending homework but honestly it didn't make up for her extremely poor teaching.
This class was not my favorite by any means. She did not show up for one of the exams and when she did there was only 30 minutes left in class and the tests had not even been printed. This occurred twice during the semester. Lots of group projects, with the same people each time. I would not take her again. Definitely try to take someone else.
I've taken Ms. Jackson twice (although if I didn't have to, I wouldn't have), and she is the worst teacher ever! Granted she gave us plenty of opportunities to make up our grades whenever the entire class bombed her exams, but she's so unorganized and didn't even show up for one of the exams! PLS DON'T TAKE HER
Dr. Jackson is not a mean professor, but her class was irritating. She is very unorganized and her lectures get off topic. I had to teach myself and hire a tutor in order to pass this class. The only good thing about this class was that there are many discussions and web assigns that will help your grade if you complete them.
Dr. Jackson seems to get a bad rap on here and I think its due to people not even coming to class, or not doing their homework. Her tests are tough, yes, but if you show up every single day, participate in class (big portion of grade), and do the lengthy homework assignments you will do fine. She is more than willing to meet with students as well.
I just wrapped up my second class with Professor Jackson and she is frankly one of the worst actual teachers I've had. Her class attendance is so low because you have to teach the material to yourself so what exactly is the point in wasting an hour with her? If you do the homework and discussions you should easily pass it's just her tests are hard.
The single worst teacher I have ever had. She goes over the homework during lecture. Over half the class was never there. You learn and prep for the exams via the homework (&/or SI). There are also a few group projects and group discussions that are a massive chunk of your grade. If you can avoid taking Dr. Jackson, by all means, take someone else.
This teacher makes me feel stupid. I was always a math nerd. I joined the Army, got out, and went back to school 4.5 years later. I decided to start off with a refresher course. Most of the time, I have idea what she's talking about. When I told her I was struggling, she basically said "oh well, I've been teaching like this for 15 years. Too bad."
Prof. Jackson is not very accessible and very rarely responds to emails. She also does not give partial credit on tests, and spends thirty minutes of the class talking about anything but math.
As a whole, I struggled in her class. When I went to class, I only got more confused on the material. All the information because way too much to handle during class and I honestly I have no idea what she is talking about half the time and I even study outside of class. I benefit from meeting with my tutor & going to class for practice problems.
Okay so heres the deal about Regina. She's literally the worst professor of my entire life. I realize I've been in college for not even a semester but daggum. She's the worst of the worst. She never shows up to office hours, never responds to emails, and overall is scary. Need intense therapy after this. Ps. this is not a drill. Its the real deal.
Regina missed the first three weeks of school, has not shown up to class, not shown up to office hours, does not grade her own test, does not reply to emails. It does not matter if you attend class, because you will not learn and you will teach your self. I have many tutors for this class and am struggling to make a C. Do not take this course.
I had a hard time in this class. Professor Jackson is confusing to listen to and hard to follow. Class time didn't prepare me for the homework at all; I taught myself most of the semester and had to get a tutor. You have to really study the homework if you want to get an A on the tests. Would not recommend this class or teacher to anyone.
Nice person, but horrible professor. Her lectures do not match her homework and tests are graded online with NO partial credit given. She misses class frequently and assigns homework on things she has not taught. Email responses take absolutely forever. I think she cares about her students but is not willing to put in the work to help them succeed.
lots of repetitive homework. flaky teacher. found it much more helpful to skip class to do homework.
This teacher is not my favorite, but she seems to care about her students, even if her teaching is horrible and I had to teach myself almost everything and study very hard for the tests.
I would rather get lost in the Sahara Desert for the 10 months than take this class again. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. you're welcome.
This was the worst class i have ever taken. Not only did she never show up, but when she did she did not even know how to teach. She used a chalk board and wrote everything down, which took the whole class. No calculators were permitted. Never responds to emails. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Not worth time and effort. No one passes guaranteed
The class is hard but she explains things well and answers our questions. If your willing to put in the nessicary effort to participate you will do well. She is very caring.
She's an amazing person, but when it comes to her teaching, she's insanely difficult. The concepts she teaches are hard enough, but her cryptic ways of explaining concepts makes them near impossible. She expects us to already know the material before she teaches them, and the tests are hardly what we go over in the class. Great person, bad teacher.
Her class is VERY tough, but if you do your homework, and go to her office hours for help, you'll catch on easily. I like her teaching style when I am there one-on-one better than her class lectures, though.
Avoid her at all costs. She is a horrible teacher and does not know how to teach. Attendance is not mandatory and it is pointless to even show up to her class. Somehow was able to make a B by doing all the homework and basically teaching myself how to do the problems outside of class every day.
Regina Jackson was quite possibly one of the worst professors I've ever had. She was constantly late for class, and when she finally showed up, she reviewed from the previous lecture and tried to teach new material in the last few minutes of class. Watch the videos on Webassign because you will learn more from those than you will from Regina.
Your grade is based off of tests, homework, and the 2 projects we had that were weighted heavily. I recommend doing the Webassign because it will help for the tests and will help your grade out in the end. She didn't take attendance except for in lab on some days.
I felt that Dr. Jackson was an effective professor. She went over each concept multiple times and would do a review day for student questions each Friday. She would also do exam reviews and give outlines for what to expect. Don't let the bad reviews scare you, if you study and take good notes in class it is not that hard.
This. Was. Horrible. She's very sweet but just not good at explaining math to people who don't have a natural ability to understand math. This class is specifically for people who suck at math(no hate, I had to take the course too) so she is not the right person to be teaching this. I struggled to make a freaking D. It shouldn't have been so hard.
Doesnt explain anything in class just runs through problems without an explanation
really picky when grading tests. counts off for every little mistake
This class was garbage. She is a nice woman but she is not effective in her teaching styles. I learned more from Khan Academy videos than I did from her. She is extremely precise when it comes to grading, and on multiple occasions she had us work in groups to try to figure out how to do new material as opposed to teaching it. Avoid at all costs.
Only math class needed for my major, thankfully, because I am terrible at math, and this class made me struggle even more. Nothing against the professor herself, but definitely should find a new career. Runs through problems without explaining them, assigns way too many web assigns too often, and cannot dumb things down for those who suck at math
She does not teach the information very well at all. Her test are not the same material that she teaches. Instead of teaching us how to use a math formula she shows how to get the formula, which is not needed on the test. She does not use steps to solve problem but just does a lot of examples, with no knowledge of how to solve a later problem.
Dr. Jackson is very nice, but her teaching style wasn't the greatest for MATH1120. I maintained a high B/low A the entire semester only because I took Pre-Calc in high school, but my classmates that had never taken Pre-Calc before really struggled. It's possible to make a good grade in this class, but be ready to really work for it.
I was always good with math, but for some reason, her teaching style doesn't work for me. She'll give a problem and "how to solve it," but it always ends up as random numbers on the board. The method of how she got it is never clear or DIRECT. She does CARE A LOT about the students; I just wasn't able to do well with this unclear teaching style.
I think a helpful tip for her would to have a clear outline of the types of problems and not have it be all over the place. She wants you to learn though, so go to the office hours. The SI session helps a ton!!!
This class was horrible. Dr. Jackson did not thoroughly explain the material, leaving the students to teach themselves the majority of the time. She also consistently showed up late to class, taking away from our learning time. My class was not prepared for tests due to her poor teaching abilities. I would not recommend.
