She's ok...gives you lots of extra credit. The tests are pretty hard though.
She is very helpful. If you have a question during lab, she will stay and work with you till you understand. Her tests are a little bit tough, but they are on lecture, so you just have to pay attention.
Awesome teacher, study your notes and youll do fine, very helpful
She is honest with the class. She helps out when possible and goes the extra mile to explain but wont bend til she breaks to make everyone happy
She is so sweet. And helpful. Her lectures are straightforward and her tests are also. Shes a great teacher. Study the notes and everything will work out well
sooo sweet, easy to talk to. Very clear in her lectures and tests. She really wants you to do well. Keeps things interesting as well.
Awesome teacher! Very helpful and lectures are straight-forward. Nice lady too.
Hard teacher, half of my class was gone within a few weeks. First test all d's and f's one or two b's or c's.
Great teacher.. if you are going to take anatomy and want A or B, take her instead of anybody else. She exactly tells you, what you need to know. and you could study easily afterward. She is better than all those Dr. hyde and Anderson, if you want to survive in this class, only take her. She is Awes
Confusing subject, but many opportunities for extra credit. Very nice teacher.
Tests are difficult, really difficult...Despite the tough tests, she is a very nice teacher, very helpful and caring. There were opportunities for extra credit, and some of the discussion activities were fun.
She is a sweet teacher. Straight-forward and clear. Awesome!! The comment about the 110 class getting all D's the first test is most likely untrue...unless they didnt pay attention and didnt study, if you do those 2 things...youll have an A or B
She is hard on tests.
Great teacher, very clear on what you need to know. Just beware of the tests..their verryy hard. Overall, good teacher. Just pay attention in class.
As a medical professional, I was really looking forward to taking this class. However, I should have chosen another professor. Downright confusing in her lectures. Wording on exams makes no sense. Not helpful and leaves for extended periods of time during labs. Does not explain anything during labs. I was a 4.0 student- before this class.
This teacher is great. She is clear, fair, and there are plenty chances to pick up extra credit. However this is not an easy course so do your homework. No easy grades here.
It doesn't take much to teach Anatomy. It's all individual work and memorization and the teacher just helps you along the way. If you don't study, you'll do terrible. If you put in the time, you'll do well. Lecture exams are tough, so make sure you study hard.
Obviously someone in the rating a few below was just pissed that they didn't do the work needed to get an A. This was one of the best taught courses I've had. I recomend her.
good teacher, easy to understand and very helpful
helpful...gives 3-4 extra credit(semester)...tests r tricky......i wont recommend her jst because your grade is based on tests n quizes...(since she doesnt give out hw)
I dont know what people say, but she is not helpful at all.She thinks u have to know her questions in the class even though she did not give u the lecture yet.
DO NOT TAKE HER SHE IS SO HARD
Talks too fast and is not helpful at all. Her notes are too long and she uses the words from the book, it feels like you're writing everything thats on the book. I don't recomend her, unless you're a biology guiniuss and don't really need a teacher to pass the class. I dropped her, took ghallager and got an A!
Rector is a good teacher and honest. She tells you right from the very start how difficult this class is, and it is difficult. If you can't study at least 10 hours a week for this class than you should consider a different Bio. This class is way in depth and detail. Supposedly, there is a 40% drop rate every semester in Bio 160. Be warned...
she is a good teacher...but the only thing is her tests are pretty tough you need to study every day and memorize every little thing. lectures are not helpfull besides when she gives you a small over on the test, but its not her fault cuz you acutally have to study really hard for it anyawy, i think she's a fun teacher, but you really have to study
her tests are very hard...but she's such a nice teacher! friendly and helpful!!
She is a great teacher but her tests are not for dummies. The best advice I can give you? Don't waste your time for complains just start to study on the first day!!!
Ms Rector is a great teacher and is easy going but she doesn't hand you your grade. You have to read and study everyday. She really knows her stuff and is more than happy to explain any topic. I can tell she enjoys her job, which is rare to see now a days for a teacher. This class is meant to weed out poor students. Good luck!
If you're looking to pass Anatomy with a minimal amount of work, don't bother taking the class. If, however, you're willing to work hard and do your part, Rector is the best. She's always willing to stay after or meet with you during her free time to explain things you don't understand. 161 requires A LOT of outside studying, so prepare yourself.
I had her for Bio 160 and loved her teaching style. She is exremely helpful and she doesn't dumb down the material. She also answers questions without making you feel stupid. Excellent teacher!
she is very sraight foreward and you really have to study. she is very thorough and i was comfortable in her class her tests are hard, but like i said you really have to study. her lectures are straight from the book, no extra material. i would recommend her
Definitely not my type of teacher. She is nice but very hard. Her teaching style is for you to read the book and memorize everything then ask any questions you have in class. I enjoy bio but the way we had to learn in this class was boring and not to usefull.
If you love pop quizes, go for it.
Chipper personality. As long as you give her your most descent efforts, you'll be on her good side.
I have her for Anatomy. the class is extrememly hard but she teaches the class very well. It is great to have a teacher that truly loves what she is teaching. Very friendly and knowledgeable. Tough class but great teacher.
I THINK THAT ALL THE PEOPLE ON HERE COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW HARD THE CLASS IS AND HOW HARD THE TEACHER IS ARE SO WRONG! YEAH IT'S AN EXTREMLY HARD CLASS BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO REMEMBER SO MUCH, BUT IF YOU HAVE THE DEDICATION YOU CAN DO GREAT! SHE IS EXTREMLY HELPFUL AND WILL HELP YOU WITH ANYTHING! I AM SO GREATFUL TO PROFESSORS LIKE RECTOR!! GOT A B!
Lectures were helpful but not necessary to comprehend the material the book clearly explained. VERY helpful in lab - will explain things clearly and hint obviously as to questions on lab exams. Never a problem finding her during office hours - she is really there!! Memorization is the crux of this class. GREAT CLASS.
She is so good, knows her subject very well and most important very helpful.I learned a lot from her.She is very nice and understanding and ALWAYS willing to help.Great teacher;Great personality!
She is a great prof with a real passion for her work. Lectures and labs were def helpful. Use the study guides and read the book! Hard, but interesting - loved the class and the prof. If you have questions, ask because she is really helpful and makes things very clear
We took a ton of notes in lecture, pages and pages worth....I didnt like the pop quizzes she gave us...I got a C+ in her class her tests and labs were somewhat difficult if mabey I had studied more I would have had a B otherwise shes not that bad of a teacher
I enjoyed her course even though it was difficult. The written tests were the hardest and I thought the scheduled quizzes and labs were slightly easier. She seems to enjoy what she does and for the most part has an up beat personality. I thought she was helpful and approachable. I would take her course again.
This was definitely a hard class, but it was interesting. Ms. Rector definitely tries to help you understand the material, instead of just reading a powerpoint word for word. Great teacher. Do your reading, study the power points, and use the study guides! Labs were great, I am sad this class is over because I enjoyed it so much!
Amazing teacher! The class was supposed to be easier than anatomy, but it was very hard as well. She is great at what she does, always willing to help, explain and always with great attitude. I enjoyed her class a lot, although as I sad, hard tests. You have to be 100% committed but the rewarding outcome is great amount of knowledge.
Regina is one of my favorite teachers. She was extremely approachable and wants her students to understand, learn and succeed.
very nice, too advanced for entry level biology. class was stressful and ruined my great GPA. questions on the test were twisted. Did all my work and had a tutor(im a honors student) and the tests were too difficult..why bother studying?
She is a very nice person bt the material & tests are very hard!! Have 2 basically memorize everything from the book& I still ended up w/c. Not much e.c. Didnt like her teaching style since her notes are copied straight from the textb so don't even bother taking notes. Lab is kk bt have to show up 2labs since there r many quizzes. & pop quizzes! U'll have a hard time passing the class w/ A or B
gr8 teacher.very helpful, knows her stuff inside and out but moves very quick to keep up read ch b4 class.very hard written tests multiple choice and essay!lab much easier.tests are very detailed, must study notes and book no way around it.
Great teacher! So organized- very helpful- some are saying shes hard- she wasnt that hard- not impossible to get an A- i got an A in this class and BIO 110- just study- its college your going to need to study
I loved this professor. She was animated and truly loves teaching Physiology. This makes a huge difference for students whom are trying to learn this material.
She knows her material very good inside out.But I'm very disappointed because whenever she sad study 'this'or this is very important, pay attention to'this'-that material is never on the exam. She's leading students in wrong direction of study, and questions are very confusing, hard to understand what she's asking about, even when you know material
She is a very knowledgeable teacher. Good notes and clear explanation. Extra credit and drops few bad grades.
She is very smart and knows her stuff. You can tell she likes to teach. The class is alright but I had a hard time with the test. They are hard and cover a lot of material. The labs are fun and you really shouldnt miss them. She is dropping our lowest quiz and h.w scores. She also is also very willing to help you.
Professor Rector knew what she was talking about and that was what made the class interesting. You need to be sure to keep up with reading in order to pass the class. I took this class AND chem at the same time and I always ended up having to take more time out of my study schedule for bio. Plan time wisely and you will succeed.
I LOVE THIS TEACHER! she's very enthusiastic and wants you to succeed.& knows what she is talking about. lab is mandatory but lecture is not. you need to dedicate as much time as you can to this class other wise don't bother. very clear with notes and drops a few grades / quizzes. & there is extra credit.
This is my first online class that I have taken ever. I did not expect it to be easy. the course was not what I expected it to be. There are quizzes and activities every week and she is very particular about the way things are done. There is a lot of busy work for this class that is more appropriate for an in class setting. overall I hope I pass
Class is set up in a way that is more appropriate for a class room setting. There are activities that seem more like busy work and group discussions and a group project. I find group work defeats the purpose of an online class.
Regina is really passionate about what she teaches. She is very nice and is always willing to help. However, her class is pretty difficult. She makes labs as fun as they can be, but the exams are pretty hard. You really have to understand the material to get a good grade. I would recommend you take her if you have the chance, she's a sweetheart!
Best teacher. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed in her class.
Choose this teacher! She cares about her students, is super helpful. During lectures, she isn't boring, she applies things so that you will remember them better. Even if you're not a science major, this teacher is especially best for you guys!
She's a nice person, but the material is just too hard, even if you study everyday. She is somewhat helpful preparing for tests, but the help doesn't even pay off
Professor Rector does a great job with a very difficult subject. This class is not easy. I got an A but studied between 3 and 4 hours a night. She provides some e.c. to help but if you want to do well in this class you need to study, a lot! Professor Rector will give you all the tools you need to be successful. If you take bio, take her class.
This class in not easy but Professor Rector knows her stuff. The material is interesting, but you definitely have to read the textbook and you can't get behind. Regina Rector is very willing to help you as long as you work hard too. I haven't taken any other BIO classes yet but Regina was a good teacher.
She is a good teacher, she knows her stuff, she is very helpful if you are willing to work hard. Not the easiest teacher so you do have to put time and hard work into it. Attendance for lab is mandatory but not for lecture.
Extremely nice teacher but extremely difficult class! Don't take it with another science class. If you do not read and review the chapters before the lecture class, you will be LOST! She is willing to help but it's VERY easy to fall behind. The material is just too much for one semester, so you better be committed from the very beginning to pass!
Bio is just hard in general, lots of memorization and studying. Regina is so nice, extremely knowledgable and will always make sure you explain if you ask questions. Test are hard but as long as you study your notes from lecture and know what is on her study guides you will be fine. She doesn't post her notes online so going to class is a must!
she's really nice but I ended up having to drop her class. her powerpoints are very vague and from what I remeber, I dont remember any study guides. during lab she would literally disappear for like 30 minutes. If biology is not your strongest subject, I would suggest not taking this class with her.
The material is difficult to begin with but the power point presentations only make a difficult situation worse! She seems to paraphrase her notes differently than the book and then differently for the test. You cannot go back and change answers, so if you realize you have made a mistake, oh well! Slow grader and will take points off! Beware!
Lectures and grading are very clear. She cares for her students and want everyone to get best grade they possibly can. if you do your homework and dont skip tone of lectures you'll be fine. dont skip labs !!!!
Overall Regina is a very good teacher! The problem is that the class is quite difficult unless your read your biology book and take good notes. The tests are also very difficult, you're expected to know what was gone over in lecture along with what's in the book. The key to this class is HEAVY studying...
Bio isn't my best class but there was no homework and professor rector made class and the labs fun. The class is mostly graded on tests which are made up of her power points so if you just copy the powerpoint you'll be prepared to pass the class. She makes sure everybody is on the same page and not left behind too.
Professor Rector is a GREAT teacher. She is tough but she is also a professor, shes not going to hold your hand. Over all, she is very caring and listens, but ultimately it is up to the student to want to learn the material. Studying is essential but it's up to the individual and how well they retain the material she puts out. The book also helps.
Great teacher I have thoroughly enjoyed her class. Although lecture is not mandatory it is a must as she doesn't give you the notes outside of class time. however throws in extra credit here and there. Even though this was a hard class that I've heard a lot of people don't pass the first time around, material presented to make it easy to remember
Based on my opinion, lectures are awful. She likes to share a lot of personal stories and goes over the PowerPoints really quick.
Lab test and lecture quiz on the same day or vice versa Lab quiz and lecture test . Learn smart work and on top of that you have to purchase top hat app, that's how she takes attendance and gives you questions to make sure you are reading the assignments. If you have lots of spare time take her.
Attendance wasn't mandatory but she does Top Hat questions in class that are easy points towards your grade. Her exams are based off of her study guide and lecture and always have extra credit. There are lab and lecture and reading quizzes. Personally I think all of the quizzes helped my grade.
I am going to be honest, if science in general is not your strongest subject then DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT take this class with her. I give her props for being a nice person and she clearly knows a lot about the subject, however it is going to be extremely hard to pass if you arent good at science. That said there is also NO tutors either. BEWARE!
She is not a good teacher at all, as a person she is really nice and sweet but she does not help you out with the material. She goes through the material really quick and literally just reads off the PowerPoints, you might as well be taking an online class because she is not even of any help.
She has to be one of my worst professors. All she does is read off her PowerPoint and you write down what she says. Her class is just based off of tests (4 tests all coming from her notes in lecture and bio book, make sure to know EVERYTHING), quizzes (online on BlackBoard, 1 every week), and pop quizzes (she gives them at the end of class).
She definitely went a lot more in-depth than any of us had expected, but I truly learned so much in this class. Regina is tough but also caring - provides lots of EC & curves grades, plus drops quizzes at the end of the semester. Lab quiz every week & 4 lecture exams - no cumulative final. She's so passionate about teaching & all her students!
Professor Rector is awesome! Anatomy is anatomy. Appreciate that she gave us quizzes constantly (kinda), to keep us on track. That honestly helped a lot. Easy cleaning and attendance (lab only) points. She has powerpoints, study guides, pretty much everything you need on BB!
Definitely the hardest class Ive ever taken, you definitely need to go to class and study.. A LOT. Shes a great professor for this class and I definitely recommend her!
I loved having Regina as a professor! No matter what professor you get anatomy is a class you have to work for. She loves helping students understand and always offers extra credit. The class is made up of (5) lecture exams and (4) quizzes, (3) lab exams and (7) quizzes. She drops some quizzes and curves grades if you show improvement.
If you take Bio, make it your priority class because of the studying time needed outside of class regardless of the professor. *She doesn't give out slides to use on the computer which made studying at home more challenging. Quiz every week on previous lab. Discussion board and BB quiz every week. Study everyday
Amazing teacher who cares for all students. Lectures and labs have to be attended because there are lab quizzes every week and lecture material is always on tests. She gets to know all her students by name and is always ready to help them. One of the best professors at Harper.
Regina is the most sweetest and easy-going prof Ive ever had. I usually dont leave reviews but she deserves one. Shes always happy I love that I didn't see her mad for one second! She cares about everybody in the class + will do her best to help you succeed. The class can be hard bc its a lot of info, but if you show up/study youll be fine!
professor rector was truly such a great pick! as someone who isn't the smartest when it comes to science, she was super helpful and even compiled tons of outside resources to use in case you needed. she's one of the most clear, kind, and helpful professors i've had! would definitely recommend her, you won't regret it!
Professor Rector was super straight forward. Missing one class will set you back. Stay on top of material, study hard, and take good lecture notes and you should be okay. One thing I found helpful when we were in class (before COVID) was recording lectures and hearing them back after. All in all Professor Rector was a great teacher! :)
I would not recommend to take this professor ONLINE! She does not help you at all. When she does her "Powerpoints", it's just reading off of it. She one time gave an exam and posted practice questions 1-2 days after she opened the exam and some students have already taken it. Unfair right? Nothing was done about it by her. Really need to self-study
Rector really makes it easy to get a good grade and actually understand the material. She's super caring about her students, she'll answer emails quickly and when she answers your questions she makes sure that you fully understand what she went over. She is very straight forward on grading and telling you exactly what will be on each test.
Had a very hard time in the online version of this class. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND FOR ONLINE!!!!!!! If you have have trouble with learning by yourself, this is not the class for you. Her aka "Review guides" are extremely vague and to comprehend. The lecture exams are not from the book or from her teachings, BE AWRE
Professor Rector was the sweetest, most understanding professor Ive had at Harper. She made the labs fun and engaging and you can definitely tell how much she cares about her students. She always made sure everyone understood the material and provided us with outside resources to help us study. Would definitely take another one of her classes.
Professor Rector shows alot of passion for her class and her students. If you read the chapters, attend her lectures, and make flashcards the chapter exams should be a piece of cake. Labs are set up pretty straighforward, don't feel overwhelmed.
Amazing and caring professor! I highly recommend taking her! I listed lots of homework because there are quizzes, assignments, and get ready for lots of exams! BUT this is all strategy. She wants you to be on top of things so you do not fall behind and get that A! BONUS there is tons of extra credit through out the semester! TAKE HER! (:
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Had to retake anatomy again for Spring 2022 semester, and Professor Rector was absolutely the best. Lectures are not draining, Labs are very straight forward. MANY opportunities for extra credit to boost your grade up. I recommend her 100%. Best Human anatomy professor at Harper.
Take it from someone who got through anatomy by the skin of my teeth, PHYSIOLOGY IS SO MUCH BETTER WITH RECTOR! She's very good at explaining, labs and lectures are engaging, the practicals aren't bad, and decent amount of extra credit. Obviously it's still physiology, so you still need to study and prepare but you should be just fine
Tests don't seem to reflect what is taught in lecture slides. Lab exams are straight forward and she provides plenty of resources to prepare for those. Plenty of extra credit opportunities given.
I found the tests were nothing like the lectures and the textbook didn't help. She doesn't give homework but I think it woud've helped if it was like the test and she doesn't give review guides. The labs weren't helpful for the test but lab exams were simple. She is very nice and had some extra credit oppurtunities.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS BLENDED IF YOU DON'T HAVE TO! Lectures were very long and boring and didn't help with studying for exams. She never gave study guides. Lab practicals were straight foward just need to study lots. No homework. She's a great and caring professor just wouldn't recommend taking it online.
I liked Regina she was very sweet and fun. Her exams were very hard though. Lectures weren't very helpful, and she had no study guides. The "things you should know" questions weren't very helpful either. Rarely gave homework. Wish she had study guides that went along more with lecture exams. Lab practical's were not bad at all if you study all labs
Professor rector is very nice but a bit disorganized and not very clear when giving instructions. I found that her tests do typically cover what is in her recorded lectures. However, you definitely need to listen to the lecture multiple times and pause and take notes in each slide, because she talks very fast and does not explain things well.
Don't even enroll to her you will be having a lot of hard time studying.
Professor Rector's BIO161 is challenging but rewarding. Lectures are engaging, and the labs, though tough, are helpful. I found using Unstuck ai alongside the textbook made prep a breeze. Overall, a worthwhile course.
Great Professor! Exams were straightforward and lab exams were a bit easier than lecture exams. She was always willing to help and accommodate your needs if you were ever absent during the class/lab. Overall, stay up to date, prepare for the exams ahead of time and ask questions right away and you can get an A. No makeup for missed work
Professor Rector is great. She had a family emergency that led her to be out for a week and she made sure to keep us updated and ensured we had all the resources we needed. Cares about her students doing well and understanding the material. She is very accommodating and kind, take her!!
I was absent from the lab multiple times she was willing to let me join the lab in another class section. She cares for you and never makes you feel down. I deeply disagree that her lecture tests are not clear nor the reviews about her lectures are right. She is willing to answer your questions and discuss with you about physiology. She is great!
She was great! Her lectures were interesting and I really liked her positive attitude. Super approachable!
This class was so hard, I wanted to quit a couple of times but Regina was amazing. You can tell she really loves teaching this stuff and it makes you want to be excited to learn. She is always willing to help and give feedback. Labs were pretty easy and you work with a group which is great. Study the powerpoints for lecture exams!!
This class was intense, but Regina was an amazing teacher. Very passionate, very helpful in labs, clearly explained the layout of lab practicals and exams. She actually cares about her students and their grades. Study the material like everyday, you will fall behind and be confused if you don't. It was also nice to work in a group for labs.
She gives out a lot of extra credit and attendance is only necessary for the labs (which makes sense). Her tests are heavily based on her lectures and PowerPoints which is great because you do not need to read the textbook. Much easier compared to anatomy class (at least it was for me) and not a lot of homework too.
