Actually had Stephens but Urban has taken over b/c I guess Stephens won't be teaching Patho anymore(?) But she's very nice and a good teacher. She is reading off of Stephens power point so not quite sure how she will run her own class. But I recommend!
Great professor! Highly recommend her for patho. She gives you notes to print out and all you have to do is fill in blanks. Her tests come directly from her notes. You DO NOT need the book!! She will tell you that herself too. Easy class as long as you study your notes and go to lecture. She does record lecture incase you miss.
LOVE HER!!!!!! This woman is passionate about her job and studies. She is SUPER SMART. She is very helpful, understanding and explains everything, and I mean EVERYTHING beyond. She is always happy and she has that drive and I love that about her. I did not buy the book. Exams were tested from the notes only.
THIS IS A NURSING CLASS, PATHO. ONE OF THE FOUNDATION CLASSES FOR NURSING. URBAN IS A GREAT TEACHER, THIS CLASS IS NOT A CAKE-WALK. YOU MUST MEMORIZE A LOT OF INFOMATION, BUT IT IS ALL PROVIDED ON THE LECTURE NOTES. RE-LISTEN TO THE PODCAST & MEMORIZE ALL THE NOTES AND YOU CAN MAKE AN A. I HAD A 98 AVERAGE BUT I STUDIED A LOT! IT IS VERY REWARDING!
I'm taking her patho class online. The information provided is crystal clear. I love biology, so this class seems like a review of all the classes ive already taken. love it !!! Im not sure if she's hot or not as im taking the online class, but she does sound hot on the audio lectures.
Mrs. U is very sweet. She provides you with all the notes you need. Just study the notes, do the quizzes, & make sure to answer the case studies at the end of each section of notes; they definitely help! You will do great if you make concept maps to assist with learning. I would study less than a week before the test & I still managed to get a 92.
Mrs. Urban was very helpful and gave us everything we needed to receive an A. I received a B because of what I was going through outside of class, but she is one of the best teachers I've had in a while. I would recommend her to everyone, and as long as you study a little bit every day, you'll make an A.
I would highly recommend this teacher! She is extremely nice. There were 4 exams and a final exam. There were bonuses on each of the exams including the final. A textbook is not needed. Everything on the exams is straight from the notes which can be printed offline. The only complaint is that some material is home-study.
Mrs. Urban is a wonderful professor. Pathophysiology can be a difficult subject, but if you go to class and listen to Mrs. Urban's lectures she does a great job of helping you understand the material. If you study and listen to the recorded lectures for clarification, you should do well. She is always willing to help you if you need it.
Mrs. Urban is amazing. She is more than willing to answer any of your questions and is very patient with you. Because this is an online class, her RRDs are indeed lengthy but they provide great information are you MUST read them in order to pass her tests. You will rarely even need to open the textbook.
She had fill in the blank style notes that were easy to study. Test come straight from the notes so book is not needed and she says this the first day of class. This class is straight forward but you have to stay on top of things
Ms. Urban is a wonderful teacher she is willing to help as much as possible. Patho 3366,requires 100% of your attention. This class is definitely NOT a cake walk. The test are timed 2 minutes per question, 40 questions per test. The reading material is overwhelming but manageable. Outline the Readings and take good notes and you will be fine.
Professor Regina Urban is one of the most awesome professor at UTA. I love her lectures. She have an intensive knowledge on the subject and she is willing to help her students to succeed on the class. Ask her whenever you don't get the concept. Patho is one of the basic foundations of nursing, so expect to work hard and study. It's doable though!
Mrs U is easy. Basically if you find this hard nursing is not for you. I've decided on medicine instead but this class is definitely a good one. It will introduce you to various conditions which you will run into whether nurse, doc, or pa. If you score below an 85 I suggest you reconsider your path. Read notes you'll get a good grade bottom line.
Mrs.U is a great teacher. She is so helpful when needed and very intelligent. The course has a lot of information, so you will definitely need to study every day and stay on top of things from the very beginning. When she teaches, she makes topics interesting and easy to understand!
She's a great professor. Super helpful, really nice, knowledgable, but the class is tough. She wants you to pass. Don't take this class w/ anything else, Bc you need to dedicate all of your time, energy in this class to pass. Hardest class at UTA RN-BSN. Best way to pass is to do the worksheets and quizlet cards that she uploads. Outline was a waste
Wow! This class was difficult but I passed it because: 1. Ms. Urban is clear of what you need to know for exams. 2. She provides an ABUNDANCE of resources access to email for help. 3. Her PODCAST lectures are awesome. They go hand in hand with the RRD. 4. I studied the RRD's, concept maps, and listened to her lectures on each RRD at least 3X
Exams are straight from the notes, but it is a lot of information. I do not recommend her online class because her on campus class has more advantages such as: they were given an extra credit opportunity (7 points to exam grade) that online students weren't given, in-class packet exams while online is on computer with no backtracking, etc.
She's a wonderful teacher! Lectures and notes posted on BB, extra cred. quizzes on BB. No dropped exams. Every test has bonus questions at the end. It's a ton of material, but I memorized the notes a few days before each exam and made an A on every one. She is very nice and helpful. Final sucks and is cumulative, but it's doable
I took her for research online. Lots of reading, but I learned so many things about EBP. Mrs. Urban is smart and my academic coach was very helpful. You will need to do weekly worksheets and quizlet cards to do well on quizzes and assignments. Weekly OOH discussions cover assignments in detail and are recorded if you are not able to listen live.
She is very knowledgeable .She exactly knows how to break down the hard materials in order to be more understandable. She is an amazing teacher.
Mrs. Urban is an awesome professor! SO Sweet! This class is very time consuming and stressful! Definitely take this class alone or with easy classes because there is so much information to read. I took the online 11 week class in the summer and it challenged me! No need for a book because her tests are based completely on the RRD's.
Mrs. Urban is a wonderful professor. I took this class online. If I had any questions she was always happy to answer them. I would deff take her again. Although, this class is not easy. You have to work for your grade. I never had to use the book but her RRDs are a must read. If you know those you're good to go.
Mrs. Urban is wonderful. She really wants you to pass her class but isn't going to just hand it to you. It's on you to learn and understand the material, not her. Go to class and pay attention! Study a little every day, not a lot all at once. She brings in her real world experience and it makes the material applicable.
Nice as a person, horrible as a professor. Why did we have to pay for a online course where the professor literally only reads slides to you. She doesn't even know the material she's teaching. Just ask her a question, her response will be oh, let me check my notes or I don't have my notes with me. Easy A if you are strong in your A&P knowledge.
Amazing teacher. Time consuming but if you read the RRDs & listen to the lectures, you will do well. Smart, organized, & her teaching style allows you to understand the actual disease processes. I'm a nurse & LOVED this class. Very responsive to emails. Requires critical thinking & will prepare you for nursing school/boards. No textbook needed
Definitely passionate about the course, a plus for anyone teaching a hard course as this one. I made an A by reading through the RRDs & highlighting stuff I didn't understand just from reading once. I then listened to her podcasts which she provides a few more helpful details, pictures, & explanations than what is provided on the RRDs. Takes effort
Her class was extremely hard. Her tests are hard and her test reviews are helpless. You are timed 1min and 30sec per question. On a critical thinking question?Common! She gives no extra credit and no second attempts. This was the first class I had ever failed in my life. DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR!
great prof!
Online class. Book was optional, I used it when I didn't understand a concept. Do not buy recommended books like Chemistry, A&P. She teaches off RRD packets you print & print! Her RRDs are busy looking & repetitive, & her teaching style for some concepts is hard to follow. You Tube was my best friend. For an A do all packets & take this class alone
Avg 30 hrs/week on this class. You will be told exam 2 most difficult. This could be further from the truth!! Class progressively gets more difficult and more voluminous. Don't fall into trap thinking class will be a cakewalk after exam 2. She provides ALL class material, you won't need textbook, I used my A&P book for reference.
Extremely difficult! Very sad, you never find out which Q's you missed on exams-huge disadvantage. She's beyond scatter brain. 4 reg exams x100 each, 1 comp final exam 100 pts, 10 HW x1 each. Exam Q's are conceptualization and very far advanced from HW assignments and reviews. Get your BSN from TWU. Poor quality prof's at UTA.
Tests extremely hard, test reviews worthless. Exams on LkDn Browser, 90sec/Q, one attempt, Q's are concepts and very vague and don't match HW, class progressively gets more and more difficult and voluminous. First class EVER to make a "B"! Btw this class and Dr Tanizaki in CHEM1451 I have PTSD! Poor professors, I regret going to UTA! Very sad!!!!!!
Honestly, most amazing professor I have had through college so far. Her blackboard is so organized, and she provides everything for you to be successful on tests. She records the audio and ppt. from lecture and posts them as podcasts, so I watch them at home and just show up on test days. Tests are info. heavy, you must study to pass this class.
Dr. Urban is the most helpful professor I have ever taken. She created quizlet, recorded the lecture and gives you a feedback about the questions you missed on the test. Wonderful professor! I would definitely recommend her. But you have to stand your material. If I fail the course I can't blame her because she gave me all she had.
This course was very difficult . What made me so angry with this class, I felt like they were trying to "weed" people out . The 3RD exam was the most difficult . I felt they have broken this exam into 2 parts . I believe it would have made the course a lot easier and the information to be retain better .
Urban is awesome. She cares about you and wants you to do well. She is able to keep students engaged during her lectures and is always so excited about her job. She will never treat you like you are stupid, even if you are. So don't be afraid to ask questions. If you don't do well in her class it is your fault. Her notes are all you need and are A1
As difficult as this class was, it definitely prepares your for nursing school. The class is tough, and you have to STUDY everyday. There's no going around it! Right now, I'm at a high B but I haven't taken the final yet. Dr. Urban is an amazing professor, but you have to put the work in.
Had her critical care clinical. Quizzes you over EKG interpretation on day 1, which really helps with Exam 2 for critical care. Does post-conference lecture to help understand exam material. Very knowledge and helpful and is always there to help you. Always available via phone/email/text. You would be lucky to have her as a clinical instructor!
Urban is GOD SENT. The material is hard but she really gives you everything you need to succeed. The test are straight forward. She made the class as doable as it could be while still teaching you the material. If you want to be a good nurse, take her.
Dr. Urban is one of the sweetest professors you will ever meet. The class isnt easy and it is definitely A LOT of material to learn (if you want an A you will most likely have to study everyday) but she provides everything in order for her students to be successful including already made quizlet and extra material to understand the content.
Her exams are based off of notes she provides, no book needed. There are 5 quizzes and 5 exams. The final exam is 75% comprehensive. You need to know your A&P well for this class, if you don't, no need to worry. She provides "preps" which help refresh your A&P knowledge. She provides concept maps and everything needed to excel. Take her!
Dr. Urbans class is very organized and her lectures are packed with useful information. This is definitely a class where you would want to be in a study group.
Dr. Urban is very thorough in her teaching. She provides all necessary information plus extra material to help you learn everything. All test material comes from her lectures/notes so you don't even need the book. Patho is a very hard subject, but she provides you with as much as she possibly can. If you don't pass the class, it is your own fault.
Patho with this professor was extremely easy. I studied a week or less before exams and made an A-. All you need to study is the RRD material. Exam 3 is the hardest so make sure to study extra for that one. The final is not bad at all. Love Dr. Urban! She made this class as easy as it can be! Having a good SI leader will help you too. Good luck!
This was a fantastic class. The expectations are set so high, it felt very rewarding to pass with an A. The recorded lectures are gold in my opinion. You really have to work and put in the time for this class.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken in my life! Im not sure how other kids got A's. The class is very interested, but the lecture is on a level 5 out of 10, and the exams are like a 10 out of 10. The exams were super duper hard.
Had her for patho. She runs a wonderful class. This was by far the hardest class of my undergrad. Her tests are hard but she gives you all the material you need. You just have to put in the WORK. There is no rounding, dropping of grades, or extra credit. Its a doable class and will make you a better student.
She lectures from home with her dogs barking. It is detracting from the little information she gives. The class is basically another canned online class that is designed to be run by teachers aids so she has little to do with anything other than a worthless weekly lecture.
BEST PROF AT UTA! Patho is hard, dense class but Urban gives you EVERY resource possible to succeed. If you dont put in the study time then doing poorly in this class is your own fault. Exams are crit thinking so make sure to understand her RRDs and not just memorize. Exam 3 was the hardest and most dense! She will truly make you a better nurse!
The only thing I liked about her was that she has premade notes for us to study, which was a life saver cuz all you had to do was study them to pass. I wud have gotten an A if i hadn't doubled up with Pharm and patho. This class is not easy. Her lectures did not help, she read straight off the notes. I basically memorized the info for the exams.
I LOVE DR. URBAN! the only reason I got a B is because i was taking pharm at the same time. She is so clear, organized, informative, and gives you all of the resources to succeed. She also has recorded lectures. Definitely need to be strong in A&P and study a lot, but she also provides A&P Preps to refresh you! She made it easy to WANT to learn.
I loved Dr. Urban!! She gives more helpful study materials than any other professor that I've had. I got an A in this class because I read (& re-read) the RRD's, I did the case studies, used the quizlet, etc. If you do poorly in this class it's not the professor, it's you. Don't buy the textbook unless you are contracting for honors. Best prof!!!
Prepare to show everything for lockdown browser. Prepare to be deducted points either way for a silly reason. I am an A student and class material is overall very easy to understand but made hard by picky grading. Wouldn't recommend her.
I really love Professor Urban. Pathophysiology was tough but i learned so much information. I have needed the information i gained over and over. She is super helpful
Dr. Urban provides a lot of material that is extremely helpful. Read it ALL! This was by far the hardest class I have taken but the most beneficial. You will need to study A LOT. This is not a blow off class. Exams are difficult (hardest-3rd test), study hard. I will truly be a better nurse bc of her!
I was super excited to take this course. I was reccomended Dr. Urban by a peer, but I basically had a coach the whole class instead. You have reading assignments that are essentially your textbook, but other than that... You're on your own. The exams are ONLY on Thurs during a certain time frame, so it really isn't geared towards working students.
Loved my Professor however when I was having computer difficulties and had to us a computer I didn't normally use I was deducted points on an Exam because I had an extra computer screen on my Desk, that was not on and for a poor environment scan due to slow internet. Don't not follow the "Rules" Point Loss, I know rules are there for a reason
Difficult and heartless
I do NOT recommend Dr. Urban at all. We had to take exams on lockdown browser and she would take off 10 points for the most unreasonable things. Be sure to have a perfect internet connection and a completely clear desk unless you want to get point deducted. Her lectures basically consist of her reading powerpoints that are the required readings .
Amazing.
difficult to deal with. She is not fit to teach online courses. There are many complaints against her.
Dr. Urban is amazing! This course was one of the most organized online classes I have taken. She has pre-recorded lectures that follow along with the RRD. If you listen to the lectures and use all of the study materials she prepares for you, it is an easy A. Tough grader on tests (enviroment) but she is very clear about her expectations up front
Dr Urban is the most organized professor I have ever had. She is up front about grading (UTA policy, not hers), she is caring, and extremely knowledgeable. All the information you could need for the exams and assessments come from the PRE-MADE notes. Understand and apply the material A in class.
If there is another instructor available take them. Her only "solution" to struggling students is to have them drop. One failing exam WILL cause you to fall behind and/or fail
Dr. Urban is a straight forward professor. She gives you everything you need to pass the tests/course in the RDRs. Be sure you do study the material in a timely manner because it is quite a bit. Final is comprehensive but as long as you study and ensure you understand how everything works together you'll be fine. DO NOT procrastinate!!
The class is not easy but its not hard. If you have a good background of A&P, manage your time, read her lecture notes, watch her videos and take advantage of her preps/concept map. She will have you prepared for this class, you just have to give your best effort. Shes an amazing teacher & I wish there were more like her. Shes the absolute best
Patho with Dr. Urban and the coaches was amazing, by the time you are done with her class you will appreciate and respect the medical field. The amount of knowledge you receive is phenomenal. I feel very blessed to have taken her class. READ the notes, read the prep notes, watch the lecture videos, do the case studies. You will need it for nursing.
Urban was very strict on the policy, make one little mistake and she counts off points. Overall, not an amazing professor, but not a bad one. Read the documents she gives you and it's straight forward, honestly dont need her to be teaching the course, just give us the reading documents
This is definitely a hard class, so be ready to put all your time and effort into this class. To do well in this class you need to know her RRDs front to back. One exam can & WILL ruin your grade so be careful. I couldve had an A but messed up badly on the third exam (hardest one) and ended up with an 89.47. Study hard and you will do fine.
I absolutely would not recommend this professor. In regard to the class work it does require you to study, however the professor and assistants are very negative. They do not encourage the students and actually make the students feel as if successful is unattainable if you do not do well on the first exam. Dr. Regina Urban is very insensitive.
Dr. Urban is amazing! This was a challenge but if you take advantage of ALL her resources youll be fine. Try to do well on each exam so the final can feel less intense. I average As on her exams & needed a low C to keep my A. Her online office hours were definitely helpful before exams. Repetition of material and consistency when studying is key
The professor gives you all the information you need for Patho. Study the RRDs, and quizzes. For me the quizzes were very helpful. You MUST study a few hours each day. I failed 2 exams and still passed the class. 4 EXAMS (45 QUESTIONS) 68 MIN, 1 FINAL(72 QUESTIONS) , AND 12 QUIZZES.
Took her when covid-19 shut down the university. So I had experienced online and in-person lectures/tests. I preferred the in-person lecture bc of test-taking environment and there was less of a chance being taken points away for small things or wifi issues. Her lectures were already recorded and posted on canvas to review for the whole semester.
Loved the organization, feedback, and additional resources from Dr. Urban! As long as you study (read and read RRDs & concept maps), do the case studies, and explain to yourself why the answer choices are wrong for each question on the assignment. After this, you'll do great. Dont fall behind - study one topic EVERY WEEK.
Originally took this class in-person (campus lectures) but because of covid-19, we switched to an online format. This really took my grade down but Dr. Urban was really helpful and supportive towards all of us.
Assignments and quizzes do not prepare you for the exam; exams have questions that look for the 'most right' answer so if you are analytical, you probably won't do well. 75% of her notes are useless. Biggest issue, she doesn't let you see your exam results so you can't review topics that you missed; it's actually the worst class I've ever taken
she gives lots of information in her notes and organizes them in ways that confused me. there were so man arrows that I didn't know where to look at times. she also constantly reminds the class of how the test grades are typically low, leaving you feeling hopeless. while its possible to pass this class and do well, she makes you feel like you cant.
This class definitely is no walk in the park. Initially, I dropped but I changed my study habits and starting doing way better. This class is lecture heavy and you will have to read ALOT. Memorizing is not enough in this class, you have to learn application. Test weight is heavy (90%) other 10% is HW. Case studies and concept maps help!
A phenomenal professor! Absolutely the best! Nursing school is not easy, neither is her class but she surely helps! Her exams are based off of her RRDs. READ THEM RELIGIOUSLY & you will pass! Lowest test grade I made was a B+, the rest were high & mid A's.
The lack of feedback made me question the small amount of knowledge I may have potentially learned from this course. Get ready for super unhelpful lectures recorded by a different professor. A ton of reading. And absolutely no feedback on your performance, so you can't even hope to improve your grade in the future. Come on UTA. You can do better.
I created this account simply to rate this professor's approach to teaching. There are ample amounts of work, readings, & suggested activities to "help" you prepare. IT is all unhelpful as it is not a true depiction of what is expected or clear guideline of what you will be tested or quizzed on. It is all just unhelpful strenuous busy work.
Even though I got an A in the class I wouldn't recommend this instructor to anyone. She will tell you one thing during the "Online Office Hours" and then penalize you for following HER OWN INSTRUCTIONS. The class is quiz heavy, and project heavy. You will take a quiz and be left in the dark on how you were scored and she doesn't go over the quizzes
RACs are 30% of the grade so you have to do well to pass the class. Dr Urban did give points back/throw out questions on each RAC based on how students did. Develop an easy PICO question to make your research paper easier. Do not skip ANY assignments, you will need the points. Hardest class at UTA by far but do the work & you'll be fine.
This was the hardest class I have ever taken!! I came from a nursing program that failed out over half of our class and that was nothing compared to this. Dr Urban is wonderful. She tries to help in anyway she can. There is A TON of reading. Online "office hours" (weekly online Q&A sessions) are invaluable. I would take anything she is teaching!!!
Take her at your own risk
Honestly in my opinion, this is the toughest class in the Nursing program to date. Get ready to read and do extensive research! You will definitely work for your A in this course!
The professor was ok. The class is quite difficult. The Team Meeting done on Sunday's is highly suggested. Modules open on Monday's. The rubric for assignments is vague but the professor explains thoroughly during the Sunday meeting. Allow enough time to complete assignments. Set appt with library online to help find articles
