Very interesting and knowledgeable, he makes a boring class fun. His quizzes are easy.
Dr. Abbott is a great teacher. His vast knowledge of pop culture is amzing. Very easy quizzes...he almost gives you the answer, and I have gotten A's on all of my papers so far this semester.
His quizzes are very easy, but grades essays very hard, you have to follow his intructions. He gets off subject alot, but time goes by fast because he talks alot.
He is very talkative and hard to understand what he is talking about sometimes, but he's extremely helpful and grades pretty descent

This is one of the most intelligent people I have ever encountered--Professor Abbott knows a great deal about every subject!! Take his class and you will see! Makes a boring class fun!! The papers you have to do are hard--but the class is worth it!!!!

This is the best English teacher out there by far. He makes an English class fun and interesting with cool discussions. You have to put some effort into his papers, but if you meet all of his requirements you will get an A. I made an A on every paper!!
He talks a whole loton in , and also knows what's going on in all kind of TV shows and movies. But he is a very easygoing teacher, tries to help out where he can. Easy grading and allows re-writes. If you want an A in this class, take him!!!!!
He teaches too many subjects in one, should be english lit, but I did'nt know if I were in a Brit Lit, Film appreciation, or Eng. Lit class. He's sometimes very arrogant.

He's a pretty laid back teacher. But he talks about everything.I though it was English, but it turned into Flim/Brit.Lit/Reality TV shows. He grades very hard on papers, pay attention to how he wants it done.You will learn alot even if its not English.

Easy teacher to work with, if you need help with a paper he is very willing to help. I got a b in the class but that was because I didn't turn in one of the papers.

He's very intelligent and knows a ton of interesting things. He expects you to actually work in his class, so if you're looking for an easy course he's not the teacher for you. If you're willing to work for him, he's willing to work with you. Pay attention, ask questions and you'll learn a lot.
I really enjoyed his class. He seems to be a very polarizing individual, though, a lot of people did not care for him at all. He is very knowledgeable about numerous subjects, and I thought very insightful about literature.

I found him to be highly qualified in the subject amongst numerous other related topics that could be applied to the class. I did not find him a particularly strict grader which combined with extra credit made it a fairly easy course.

He does talk a lot about TV shows and movies, but he also really knows what he's talking about in class. It's a little difficult to get an A on a paper, but the quizes with LOTS of extra credit help make up for it. The final is more difficult than you would think. I got an A in the class.
Abbott is very abstract and vague in his teaching. I recommend this class to people who would rather watch TV shows than learn English. He is humorous though.
Is not clear in his expectations of students, vague in class assignments and too high expectations in grading for this level class.
Abbot is not a teacher, he is an experience. At first, he seemed like a total jerk, yet he gives the class "revision" options on 3 MAJOR papers (NEVER heard of anything like it!). Pay attention, LOTS of chances for extra credit in this one!! I walked away with a "B"...and I only expected a "C".
Dr. Abbott is interesting, and he knows a lot about the Catholic Church, which is good. He makes class fun, and lets his students be creative.
This class was really fun! Dr. Abbott goes into alot of the more interesting tales about the writers. Highly recommend him!
Dr. Abbott is a well rounded and intelligent professor. He made the class interesting and I learned about subjects I never knew existed, but would have preferred if he elaborated more on essay writing.
he doesnt not elaborate on how to right your essay he just tells you to right on one. he goes off on different subjects in class and makes no attempt to teach you much of anything important
Dude! Dr Abbot is the man! All he talked about was desperate housewives and the OC which I thought personally totally connected to what we were reading. Take his class, trust me you would not regret it.
He is not very clear on what is expected and wasn't really helpful with the writing either. He likes to talk about different topics, like soups, moviest and TV shows instead of giving useful advice for the course. He is an interesting and entertaining person but I don't recommend him as a teacher. He is pretty hard with the grading..
He thinks he is a nobel prize in literature and grade his students like they were pullitzer's prize. I love to write and have some experience on it, but he just cannot accept someone with good ideas and new concepts. If you want to take this class you must be someone who likes to hear about tv shows on class and the last purchase in Bloomingdale's.

He is a nice teacher and you will do good if you understand him. He does go off topic but that makes the class interesting. I didn't fully understand what form of essays he wanted but his grading is not too hard if you have previous experiance on essay writing. He is a very funny teacher and made me laugh.
Great professor. I think he brings pop culture into the class to grab the attention of the students ... I personally believe this is helpful for many students that come through his classes. Those that suggest he is not helpful with the craft of writing did not, perhaps, approach him with their questions. I think Dr. Abbot Rocks!
Talk with him. Press him to help you-sometimes he is confusing but he eventually will help in every way-but make it a point to talk to him, he requires a bunch of patience but hes worth it.
Dr.Abbot is full of information. Not only in T.V. shows, but as well in Literature.

Ok, even though all he does is talk about movies and tv shows, he is pretty interesting. I know he doesn't really explain things well and he is a tough grader, but his class is always exciting and fun. And he gives lots of quizzes to make u for the essays. It's definitely an easy A class. I highly recommend.

Great teacher, funny in odd way. Really knows his stuff. Covers lots of information, but at the same time it is easy and fun. Tell fun little facts about subject matter, that make it more fun to listen. Quizs are easy, final is a little harder. GREAT TEACHER!

This man is awful! He never gave one useful lecture! His guideline/syllabus was rubbish. He is arrogant and insulting. Unless he is rambling about nonsense, his behavior is offensive and unecessary! First Gentleman?! He prides himself on judging you as harshly as he can, but never educates you on how to improve! He'd be a better debt counselor
Really liked him, would have gotten an A, but screwed up first essay. Either way, got a lot out of this class!

He was great! More of a professor for the girls. Not that he's a flirt but guys won't really understand him. He's more old fashioned than anything so it would help if you're into reading and old movies. He's funny.
Don't be so sure that you'll get that "easy" A. I had nothing below an A on any assignment heading into the final/research paper and came out with a B in the class. Normally B's don't bother me much, but when I have an A on EVERYTHING and then come out with a B, well, that is pretty absurd. This teacher sucks badly. Doesn't teach, flames!
I never liked English but now I hate it. Not the worst teacher but he just talks about T.V. all the time. (I could care less what happened on the O.C. last night). He is also a very strict grader but he does give good extra credit and a chance to revise your papers before the semester ends. I had to drop because I fell behind early on. And read.
If you take the time to read and understand the coursework, his illusions to t.v. and film (as obscure as they are) are funny and insightfull. If you have trouble with reading comprehension, you will not make the conections. He is passionate and gives lots of extra credit, so if you want to do well you will.
he gives you a false sense of security when you take the first few quizzes. i received 103%, 130%, & 114%. they were very easy short answer quizzes. for the rest of them he assignes obscure essay topics and his expectations are unattainable. he given several 0s and lots of 50%... no one knows his grading scale.

Abbott could not care less about his students. He watches primetime t.v. rather than grading the numerous papers he assigns, and then you don't get back any of your assignments and don't know your grade. And he's never in his office during his office hours. Why won't he quit, he obviously doesn't want to teach.
Dr. Abbott is a hard teacher I will not lie. He is very nit picky and you will have to work however If your writing skills are not up to par you need to take him because you will come out of his class writing papers very good. He is on the board of regents which will benefit you if you havent taken the regents because you will be fully prepared.
Dr. Abbott simply fails to teach. He drums on and on about primetime television shows and irrelevant current events. He has no structure whatever to his classes. You turn in work and then never see it again. I will definitely be appealing my grade and would encourage others to do the same!!

I love Dr. Abbott. I had him for 2111 and 1102. Yes, his class is a little boring, but he doesn't care if you read a newspaper, and yes he takes attendance, but you can walk in the end of class and sign it. He rambles, but if you pay attention, he gives away all the answers to exam questions. He also lets you resubmit papers after he's revised.

He does not teach until the last 15 mins of class. It is not an easy A class and he can be weird on grading. One paper you could get an A on and another you would bomb. I had no idea I was anywhere near failing until I recieved my grade after the final. To say all that you should probably look for another english teacher.
This is the worst teacher I have ever had. Literature is my world, and I don't mind if it is hard sometimes, but Mr. Abbott does not have an impartial view when grading papers. I failed, in all my papers I got 0, and when I repeated with another teacher the same Class, I got an A+
He is an awesome teacher who adds wit and humor to invigorate the class. He is very helpful, especially if he sees you really care and wish to learn. There is a lot of reading and papers, but there is also a lot of fun. As long as you don't slack off you will be fine. I highly recommend Prof. Abbott for Ancient World Lit.

So so. He was really weird about grading. any in-class papers, I would get an A on, but most out of class, I got a C or lower. He really likes to talk about TV. Sometimes he tells funny jokes and other he bombs. I would take this Prof. if you are really REALLY good at writing.
He is really funny loves to talk about tv but does not really talk about the class. He is really tough on grading. DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU ARE GREAT IN WRITING.
At first he's a great teacher but then he gets harder and grades really UNFAIR!!!!!!! Our whole class got a 0 on our papers because the work cited page was wrong and then we had a chance to re type them and correct them and we got only half a credit.Half class failed because of him,worst teacher I'M TELLING U DONT GET TRICKED DONT TAKE HIM!

If I was intrested in what movie star was dating who in the 60's, this would have been the perfect class. This man would hit a tangent in the first five minutes and never find his way back. Almost no usefull information was given.
DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. He talks about irrelevant things and his grading is tough. You will hate English language if you attend his class. Look for another English professor if you don’t want to come out with a D. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!!!!!
Dr. Abbott is a highly intelligent and very interesting man. His classes could be a bit disorganized, but on the whole it was a satisfying experience. The workload was not overwhelming, and he is a very fair grader. Overall, a good preparation for higher level literature classes and a fair introduction to writing research papers.

Knowledgeable on the subject matter, but only interested in talking about what HE thinks is important. Grades are fair as long as you follow his instructions, listen, and have fairly good knowledge of writing and the English language. Kind of "sassy" and not easily approachable in my opinion. Follow instructions and do the homework, u will be fine.
This class was EASY! The assingments were to read short stories. If you do your homework like you paid to do, then you will get an easy A+ on the quizes and tests. I got an B+ in the class. I recommend him if you know what you're doing and need the credit.
Easy, Easy, Easy. And on top of that, he made the class pretty fun. Very knowledgeable prof, although gets off topic a lot, you still learn. Do the homework, don't leave the paper till the last night before its due.
Intelligent. He tries to make a class be interesting. Unfortunately, tough grading. Not a nice and helpful person. You will learn something, but if you don't study hard and hard - Fail. In-class writing tests. 5 pages paper requried. If you care your GPA - not recommended. If you care your knowledge - recommended. If you are smart - recommended ;)
Maybe he should teach a class in Television History because all he talks about is TV shows that no one watches. In addition the course load is ridiculous Im not sure why I took him twice because he has been an absolute nightmare!
He is an interesting man. His rambling thoughts are funny but not always relevant. You have to be self-motivated in his class. He will not hold your hand along the way. If you get offended easily or want lots of attention, he is not for you. Overall, he's a good professor.

I really enjoyed this class. Mr. Abbott made this class loads of fun and I was never bored. He gave us loads of topics for papers and made sure that we knew what important parts of our readings. He also gives loads of extra credit too which is really helpful. Just attend class and you should be fine.

Dr. Abbott is an excellent professor. He allows revisions on papers and helps suggest topics for papers as well as read your paper before turning it in. Essentially, he does everything but write the paper for you. Those who did not do well did not pay attention or read his syllabus.
Awful. He would start off on topic at the beginning of class and then 5 minutes later be talking about something completely irrelevant to anything you're supposed to learn in college. He did not teach us anything that was going to be on the final and when we took it, everyone was whispering about how ridiculously hard it was. I do NOT recommend.
I am currently taking Prof Abbott and I want to be very honest about this professor. He's a very fun, sweet, sort of silly person. However as a professor, he doesn't teach anything. the work is easy, quizzes were fill in the and i never even bought the book. I got all A's an a few B's. I did the 9 page paper which he ended up losing and i got a C in the class!(the paper is worth A LOT)After complaining I got my grade changed to an A. This was my last lit and im so happy.I wouldnt recommend him, he is easy but way too careless.
Goes off topic, way too much. He also has a difficult syllabus to read. He doesn't use icollege, He doesn't have a computer at home, so it is hard to contact him when the students have questions. However, he gives out easy quizzes though.
I enjoy this professor. He is pretty random and never stays on subject but he is really passionate about everything we cover in the class so it makes it easy to get excited. He grades pretty harshly on papers. I have never received such low grades before but I feel like I have more technically coherent papers after taking his 1102 class.
Dr. Abbott holds high expectation in this course as far as the writing and works cited goes because he prefers a class of driven individuals who actually are interested in what they are studying, and think freely on their own. His assignments are normally expected to be done out of class. In class is mostly lecture.I recommend him;very entertaining
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS- half of my class failed - NOT A COINCIDENCE. He makes the class seem like a joke at first. Comes to class late every single time. Does not use turnitin so offers very little to no feedback about one's grade. Then at the end of the semester he will weigh the final paper/final very heavily without preparing you for it -HORRIBLE
Dr. Abbott is a GREAT teacher. His quizzes are easy but he grades harsher on written assignments. He offers a lot of help with them and also offers a lot of extra credit assignments to help your grade! I would definitely suggest taking him!
Always felt writing essays were my forte, until I took his class. Very difficult grader but gives plenty of extra credits and quizzes are EXTREMELY easy! Just pay attention to the stories you read and you will pass his quizzes.

Taking class with him is losing both money and time. You won't understand what he teaches. Before you do it check how may students have registered in his class.
Dr. Abbott is very knowledgeable, it's really amazing how much he knows about literature, movies, writing etc.. I have learned so much from him during this short period of time. He doesn't like students to be late and carless. If you do your work you will be good.I really enjoyed this class. I highly recommend this professor.
Easiest class ever. Great man, very passionate about what he teaches. Watches lots of old TV sitcoms and relates to reading. Few essays and minimal homework. Funny, easy going, WANTS YOU TO DO WELL! Lots of extra credit opportunities for going to see movies. However, does not use online portal so have to listen out in class for upcoming assessments
Passionate man about what he and HE only likes. I felt like it was The Dr. Abbott show not a lecture. He does not teach at all. He does not like electronics so no use of icollege at ALL, if you miss a class and email him asking about an assignment, he does not reply. Goes off topic until the end of class.
Dr. Abbott has the best vibes of any teacher I'd taken. You really just have to listen to the lectures to perform well in the class. He has a great sense of humor (albeit older humor,) and is willing to work with you on your grade/assignments!
I took Dr. Abbott's class on the Dunwoody campus. Pros: he gives a lot of extra credits, watches some comedy films, and gets to re-do in-class essays; Cons: he makes a lot of jokes, many in-class essays and random topics are chosen by the professor, he is not willing to help, he will mail your final grade and he won't put any grades in icollege.
Prof Abbott's class has lots of extra credit but also many essays on random topics. unstuck ai helped with study prep when his grading style was tough.
