Great teacher, got an A, and math is my least favorite subject, take his class regardless of what race you are (despite what previous posters claim), I'm white and never had a problem, I had the highest grade in the class, and he always offered help and suggestions when I needed it. This is the best teacher I've had at PBCC. He explains math so well and will take time to help you after class so that you'll understand. He encourages students to come by his office for help. He actually made math fun!

He is an extraoridnary teacher! Highly recommend him! I had him for prep one and two and he is amazing. Just pay attention and do all work assigned (like all math classes) and you will do great. He really cares and will help you if you need it. Explains everything perfectly! I love him! Wish he taught intermediate!

If you don't get something; he'll help you understand it as many times as you ask and encourages you to stop by and see him if you need help in even the easiest problems. Take his class!

Mr Butler is very helpful and is good at explaining things in an easy to understand manner. My only complaint is that he ties a significant portion of test grades to math lab assignments, which are a waste of time unless you are struggling.

I had Mr. B. for Prep I & II. He is the best. I hated math and thought that I would fail. I did not got an A in both prep's. He is extremely helpful. Will help you until you get it. Will give you as much extra credit as possible. Does all that he can as a professor to help you pass his course. I wish he would teach college math.

If you are like me, I've had issues understanding and keeping interested in Algebra, this is your guy. He explains in a manner that all understand. I strongly recommend him. If you struggle with math, this is the professor you will want. I am absolutely HORRIBLE at math, and I passed his class! Butler is very, very good at getting students to understand the steps. He is really amazing. BUT, his tests are hard compared to how he teaches. only a couple questions on the tests are multiple choice, the hard ones are not. Please think about how you will handle a class with no multiple choice on tests before you take him.

This professor tries very hard to make sure you understand the material. He will assign worksheets during the lab portion of class and these worksheets are VERY helpful in studying for the test. In fact, that is all I would use to study for the exams. He will give extra credit for homework. Attendance is a must if you can't learn on your own.

Lab portion is so easy to pass for extra credit. His main MAT1033 course is cake and I am weak in algebra. He is clear in and focused in all his lectures and respects his students! One of the best math teacher. He's really patient and is willing to help. I took him for summer A, I'm passing his class with a high B. I was not that good at math until I took his class. He sometimes makes the class laugh. I wish he taught College Algebra, because I would pick him in a heart beat.

I took the Summer A class.. It went by fast , we only had 5 test and a final.. you need the MYmathlab in order to do your homework but the book itself is not necessary. He is an old school teacher but he does try to spruce things up by letting us know how and why we might need the equations, he also cracks a few jokes here and there.

I took him a few semesters ago and forgot to rate him. If it wasnt for this class my notes wouldnt be as organized as they are now. The goes through everything step by step. I was never good at math and i got an A in his class. Homework is extra credit. Easy way to get your grade up.

Not the worse professor, but not the best. As long as you can show work on your paper, you'll receive partial credit. I just disliked his way of teaching by the book, it made everything the same as looking over a math book and reading it, while you lack knowledge in a subject you dislike.

Professor Butler is a great teacher! I have always struggled with math and after failing/dropping math 3 times I was finally able to pass it. Tests are exactly what he teaches and he makes sure you understand the material before you leave each class. Text books are not required but math lab is. There is also no mandatory homework but counts as E.C!

Amazing professor. I have never understood math, yet he makes it easy for me. I took him for MAT0022 and again for MAT1033C, and wish he taught at a higher level. He is funny, caring, an easy grader, and provides amazing examples and notes and answers questions with a positive attitude. Never makes a student feel like a question is unnecessary!

Mr. Butler made a difficult subject easy. He is very organized and detailed. You will know what is s expected of you. Drops the lowest grade and if you get an 85 or above you are exempt from the final! AMAZING TEACHER!!!

Best Professor! I was so bad at math and i'm honestly surprised at how much I improved by taking this class. He made everything clear and easy to understand, he will go over anything you do not understand and drops lowest test grade at the end of course. If you have a B or higher you won't have to take the final!!

Prof Butler is very good! He gives AMAZING notes ,make sure to write down everything he puts on the board. Shows you step by step so you clearly understand the lesson. Answers all your questions. You do NOT need the book, as ALL the HW is on MyMathLab and he gives you all the notes you need! Would take him for every math class if I could!

Wow! Let me just say that I have never been good at math. That was until I took this class. Professor Butler is an amazing teacher and he makes sure every single person understands the lesson. He randomly collects homework so it's best to always have it done (and it helps for tests). Most of your grade is from tests but don't worry, he's awesome!

He is consistently checking that you understand the material, helps after class, goes over complex material multiple times, and tells you exactly what needs to be studied and reviewed again. Too often I am met with teachers that lack any passion for their work or compassion for their students, he is exceptional.

I never really liked or understood math, thats why I always tend do bad. When I saw his reviews here I decided to take him, HE IS A GREAT, caring teaching who cares if you understand a problem, he will walk around engage with each individual he explain things very clear which makes me really understand math. The only other things graded are participation pts and hw pts, so be prepared to study if you want to pass with an A! No final if you average 85+! Take him!

The best teacher I have ever had! Ive always hated math and have always been bad at it. His class was the first time in years that I got an A in a math class. Goes super slow and breaks down the material in a easy and understanding way. Has us do examples after every question and doesnt make us feel bad about asking questions!

Butler is awesome. He teaches from detailed powerpoints, but makes sure you understand the information before moving on. Homework is worth 5% and will help you on the tests. There are five tests (lowest score dropped) and the final. Honestly, my only complaint would be that if you understand a concept, the class can drag - but no one is left behind

A great teacher honestly, he teaches the easy assignments and let us do the hard ones on mymathlab but in fact, all the problems are related to each other so it's easy to figure out how to solve them. always check the assignments on my math lab, sometimes it's difficult to complete some in short periods of time.

This professor is amazing he does a total of 5 tests and he'll drop your lowest test score. he does his lectures by PowerPoint. he is awesome at making the lectures enjoyable. He assigns a lot of homework; most times it's harder than what you cover in class. But each homework is only worth 1 point so it's not the end of the world if you don't do it

Honestly a 11/10 class. People may think it's a bad thing that he only gives 5 tests but in my opinion it's CAKE. Tests are barely 20 questions and if you get lucky he'll even skim over it and try to point out anything that he sees you've messed up on. Anyways, he also drops the lowest test grade at the end of the semester.

As far as the homework. You do need to pay for an online book however... I ain't look at it not once. Homework assignments are only worth 1 point and be harder than the actual tests, so I never did them. Just keep your focus on getting good test scores and you're good. Bro is really chill honestly.

Butlers class was so easy! He doesn't care if you come late/absent, the responsibility is yours. Tests are 100 points and they're basically your ONLY grade bc hw is only 1 point. With this being said, if you get 1/1 point on the hw, it does NOT boost your grade. Study for exams, all of them are 20 questions even the final. No midterm.

Professors Butler class was easy. He doesn't care about attendance or if you're late. He did most of his heavy grading on quizzes and exams.If you fail a quiz there's nothing you can do for extra credit. Hw is 1 point, I didn't like doing bc I felt like the problems were more difficult. I rlly do encourage ppl to ask questions during the lectures.
