good teacher. explains thing throughly and is very nice. but sit in front in his class, because he speaks in a very low voice.

He is the best prof I ever had. GOD BLESS HIM.
I had him last semester and he was a great teacher. His exams aren't hard. He's got a dry sense of humor but he's really funny.
very easy teacher. take him!!!!
veryyy good professor.....stick with him of you want to succedd.....peace
awesome in cell molec., terible in cancer bio class
I love this professor. He is very nice, very helpful, very easy to please and easy to understand. He doesn't give too much work and he isn't demanding. He's a easy-going guy. Class is very relaxed. YOU WON'T STRESS!! Take his class!!!
He's a lot of fun to learn from. Also is very approachable and never makes you feel like a stupid student. You can tell he has a lot of respect for students.
Halaby is a very excellent teacher. I must admit that he cleared up a lot of material for me in Bio I. Think he is the best and he is the only professor so far that I have ever seen that really cares about his students, and their endeavors to succeed.
He epithet should be a muse in the making, he makes learning extroidinaire. He is just one of the most intellectual teachers that i have had the pleasure of communicating with. he is fair, and rather knowlegable. He cares about the welfare of students.
very clear ,organized, you always know what to expect. Just take good notes and study them and you'll get an A. Nice guy too.
A great teacher, really wants students to learn and presents stuff clearly.
Dr. Halaby is one of my favorite profs. of all time. He presents the material clearly and makes sure you know what you need to for the tests. He is always very helpful and is just a great guy. I highly recommend taking a class with him.
not too bad
He is great!!
Best GenEd Yet!!! He is very clear, helpful, and understanding. He makes sure everyone understands the material and his tests are a true reflection of the lectures. I give him an A+
Presents class material clearly, fair tests, tries to help students whenever possible
he's the best. would recommend anyone to take him the summer!
Best professor at Montclair State University. Knows absolutely everything about science. Great class....take him!
willing to help, awesome teacher, if ur a non-major, take his bio. class for gen ed's
Dr. Halaby is is just GREAT. A great guy and a great professor. He explains the material clearly and his test are fair. Not necessarily easy, but fair. He is very helpful and genuinely cares for his students. I highly recommend his classes.
Doesn't take attendance which is great cause I have a 8:30 with him that I miss alot. That alone puts him on my A-list lol, but from the classes I've been too he is very intresting and knows what he's talking about.
He is the nicest, smartest professor I have ever had. Teaches the hardest subject in such an easy way that there is no way u won't get it. Knows his stuff upside down and inside out. His tests are very fair and all from the notes. Offers many free points but is a bit strict about his rules.
He is the best teacher, he is most coolest, calm, and smart teacher who teaches very clearly making sure every student gets it.
Take his class, you will love it.
He is the coolest professor ever. so nice and very helpful. great person. highly rec.
nice guy
The greatest of greatest. love him. Best professor ever. Knows his stuff very well. Wished all profs were as good as him.Take hime for sure. Ofcourse you have to study... it's biology remember..
good teacher but gives one of the treakiest test you'll ever have.
Awesome professor!!! Everyone should take his class. Lectures are very clear, but tests are tricky....don't wait to the last minute to study for them. Teaches the lab which was also great. I loved his class. He's so calm, easy to talk to, & very intelligent...definitely recommended to others!!
Very nice guy. I have a feeling he doesn't always know what he talking about though. His tests are very detailed (FYI... he likes to put examples from class on his tests)
SUMMER CLASS-take him! easy A/B in 12 days BIO is over with!! 3 tests, gotta study but just from the notes, one paper that he doesn't read, and only 2 labs! Class is supposed to go until 1, but he let's you out at 11:30 the latest, and most of the time, it's before 11. If you're a non-major and just need to get bio over w/, he's the one to take!!
fair grader and good profesor. take him
outstanding teacher, easy going nto out to trick you . basc give you the test with the notes and examples fromk class
Great guy! Take this class in the summer- tests are from notes and labs and papers help w/ final grade- get out early and before you know its over!
This is by far one of the best teachers that i've had.He teaches exactly what is needed for the tests. He's clear, helpeful and such a great person.Take him if you have a 3hr class he'll let you out early.Grading is very fair,if you pay attention in class and study your notes you'll get A/B.Perfect if u r non-major he doesn't expect u 2 kno anything
What a great guy.
He started off strong and helpful but by the second test he was getting lazy in his teaching & he wasnt clear at all nemore. He would let out class early when there was still alot to cover. His tests have many trick question that have more than one correct answr but u must choose the one he is lookn for. I would not take it w/ him again& i have a B
Gives Extra help;cracks jokes to lighten up class; explains everything; answers questions; always available; easy going; understanding to ones problems and situation; the best teacher in the dept. gota get him quick his class is first to fill up
He is a great teacher!!! Please take him if you are a non-Biol major. ;0)
THIS IS THE GUY TO TAKE. EASY CLASS TAKE IN THE SUMMER. YOU GET OUT EARLY EVER DAY. BEFORE YOU KNOW IT CLASS IS OVER. AWESOME GUY. TAKE GOOD NOTES DONT BUY BOOK GET AT LEAST AN B. +++++
THREE WORDS...........TAKE THIS MAN. THIS IS THE CLASS TO TAKE FOR BIO 240-241. WAIT UNTIL THE SUMMER. AWESOME GUY, PRETTY EASY CLASS. ALWAYS LETS YOU OUT EARLY. RECOMMEND GREATLY. +++++++++++++++
This is the greatest professor. If you got a B in his class then you weren't trying, he always gives extra help, explains concepts very well, his exams are EASY, and his classes are always fun. This him for as much as you can he always teaches fun classes.
so heres the deal, dont spend money on the new edition for the book. the third edition is the exact same thign word for word and cost about 3$ on ebay. you dont have to show up to his class.just have someone take good notes and study. decent guy. homework is a hassle. but helps ur grade in the end.
he is an amazing guy ... take him!!!!!!
Halaby is the man, his class is fun and engaging, he tries to make things as simple as possible and you learn a great deal of information. dont buy the book, just study his notes and you'll get an A
Take this guy. He explains everything you need to know CRYSTAL CLEAR. If you study his notes you will get a sure A. He is the best profesor I have come across so far and please sit in the front.
He is a wonderful professor! He knows his stuff and tells you how it is. He gives you hope that you can do whatever you want to do! He inspires me ;)
Dnt listen to all those comments. U gotta study..Test are hard..
Doesn't know how to teach. Incompitent prof.
Very nice guy, approachable, but hard professor. Very tricky, almost MCAT style questions. One insignificant word changes the answer on the exam. That is how most people ended up doing bad. I caught on to his style and got a B in the end. Still tough. He has a tendency to cut himself off mid-sentence and start anew. Don't expect an easy A or B.
Hard. There is only ther notes you can wright down in class and yes you can go to him for help but not very helpful. get book nomatter what he saids adn be ready to studdy your butt off.
Sat in the second row and had such a horrible time trying to hear him! He speaks so soft and muffled. He barely rights anything down because he is lazy. (He says it all the time) Not recommended.
dude's terrible. he jumps around too much in his lecture and has the most boring and uninteresting voice. his lectures don't even make sense half the time and it's hard to take notes on the stuff he does talk about. his exams are pretty tough but only because he sucks at teaching. he's the laziest person i have ever met too.
Listen...Halaby is a very good professor, he is a great guy and is quite intelligent. He does tend to ramble during lecture, but his exams come directly from the lecture material. the textbook only helps to look at and review figures, i'd deff recommend this mans class! As long as you're not lazy you'll do fine...
Great prof. If you dont do good its just because you are lazy. If you simply take notes and review the notes you will be fine. Also Dr.H is very helpful to his students.
This guy totally screwed me over. The class is manageable, but he provides no help or leniency at all.
i took GOOD notes based on what he said, and STUDIED them like crazy and STILL ive failed every one of his tests, even tho i know the material. lab was great, but doesn't count for much. he says theres not a lot of work but youll use that time trying to find ways to become an expert in the material elsewhere than his class. buy book!
he is not as good as many make him seem. Classes can be really boring and unorganized. tests are ridiculously tricky too. On the whole he is OK but i wouldn't recommend him so much
His tests are right off the lecture so go to class!!! You won't learn anything or do good on the test if you plan to skip class and read the book. Go to class, take notes even stuff you don't think matters, just write it down. And go to office hours for any questions that you didnt get on his lecture. You will do fine if you study off lecture
He's a very intelligent man but he does not know how to teach..at all. He makes things so much more complicated than they need to be and he is not helpful. Even after attending all of his lectures I was clueless. He talks in a very low voice, even though I recorded his lectures it was still unclear. I would not recommend taking his class.
Dr. halaby is a great Professor. This is the first bio to take. if you do poorly that means you are not qualified to be a bio major... change your major!!!! He is great and you will learn soooooooo much form him.
He rambles from one topic to the next in his lectures. The best way to study from his class is to take a lot of notes record him and if you are un clear about something go to his office hours. He doesn't use the book he suggests you study from the lecture which is what the test is based off. The quizzes are fairly easy! But study hard for the test
Prof. Halaby is a very intelligent man but he is not very clear at times when he teaches. His tests are VERY tricky and you really have to know the material inside and out and down to the last detail.
Very very hard, tricky professor. It's not even the BASIC concepts that you have to know, that's just the tip of the iceberg. You NEED to know your stuff & recite it in your sleep every single detail if you miss something, womp womp.. ! Very smart man but lectures are unorganized & most of the time I can't make out what he is saying.
Dr. Halaby is veryyyyyyyyyyyy intelligent man!! Super smart, this is how i define him!! His exams are tricky... but if you take good notes and visit him during office hours you will get an A!! You have to study really hard! Beside being smart, he is a great person!!
TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO BE A BIOL MAJOR. This is a preview of how classes will be and he is ALL about concept. You don't need the textbook or need to show up to class but his tests are purely on concept and ONLY his lectures. Final weighs as much as any other test drops the lowest grade. He is really a great professor I recommend him. Pay attention
Take Prof. Halaby during summer. It was, hands down, the best class I’ve taken at MSU so far. Tests were based on lectures. No homework. Straightforward final paper. Labs were fun, and lectures were very interesting. Prof. Halaby is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He’s also very funny. You can always talk to him if you have ANY questions.
Dr Halaby is a genius. All you gotta do in his class is PAY ATTENTION. I can't stress that enough. Essay questions; 6 questions asked and you only have to answer 4. Also, he is an easy person to talk to. Take him only if you are ready to put in the work.
he is very nice ans helpful, but his voice is more than very low! I couldn't even record the lecture. His tests are extremely hard. 4 exams all multiple choice questions and he drop the lowest grade. 5 quizzes ,no homework. you need to study hard.
if you ask him for help,he will, but he is very lazy no homeworks and you will have to teach your self because even if you sit in the first road you cant hear him! you need to study supper hard. the class was so relaxing no work no nothing, but you will feel it at the end when you get horrible grade. I will not him again for sure. Gosh!
He is a nice guy but a very tough teacher. He expects a lot from his students and you will have to study hard for exams. Labs are easy and can keep your grade up.
I've never posted on here but I just had to so everyone knows to RECORD HIS LECTURES! the exams are COMPLETELY focused on what he says. learn the processes. Don't bother trying to memorize anything. You have to really understand what's going on because the exam questions are worded to test your understanding of the subject.
DR. Halaby is veryyyyyyyyyyyy smart. You will learn from his lectures. To do well you need to know the concept and understand them well. He is a great, super smart professor. I learned so much in his class. Exams are not easy. Hey that is how bio classes are!!!
I love Professor Halaby. His voice is really low but that will just mean you have to get the best seat in the class. He is very nice and amusing. The test are difficult but he stresses what you need to know for the test in lecture. I loved his teaching style and his class overall. Don't be lazy , take him. You won't regret it.
Do not take this guy.
I took him over the summer and by far one of my favorite professor I have ever taken. Very straight forward and extremely nice. Lectures are based off of his slides. I strongly recommend taking him. A few exams and a paper.
I can pretty much describe his class in one word: Glycolysis. He LOVES it and he centers the majority of his powerpointslectures on glycolysis and related topics. I guess he is just really passionate about it, but it really did not help the students. Avoid taking him if you want to learn. There are better teachers.
He's awesome and he really knows his subject matter. 5 multiple choice quizzes (through Canvas) and 4 exams (not cumulative, 50 questions multiple choice). That plus the lab is basically your grade. Record his lectures, understand the concepts and you'll get an A.
I'm not entirely fond of this professor. He makes these tests out to be what he literally speaks about instead of going over what his slides present. I take notes at every one of his lectures and create study guides to help me, buy his tests are very difficult. I would not recommend him--there are definitely better biology teachers.
Terrible. Cares more about his research then his students. There are way better biology professors. Dont take him if you want to do well and actually learn anything.
Honesty , If you are willing to go to medical school PLEASE drop because he is the hardiest professor and no help. Lectures are pretty much straight forward however, the exams are EXTREMLY hard and have nothing to do with power point in class. I will not recommend him for ANYONE take my advise and you will be successful.
His tests are very difficult and are based off what he says during lecture, so you must attend class. Half of the class ended up dropping the course. You will have to put in a lot of effort in order to get a decent grade.
Dr. Halaby is very soft spoken so make sure to sit in the front, record lectures & print the PP slides to take notes. His tests are very difficult but if you study & go to his office he will help you. Don't wait until the last minute to begin studying, study everyday for 1 hr and you'll do great. Very tough exams, attend every lecture
do NOT take this professor.
My brother who is in the MDPh.D program at UMDNJ took 4 classes with Dr. Halaby. He says he still uses Dr. Halaby's notes . He always advises me to take as many courses as possible with him. He prepares you for McatMed school. You are forced to learn the concept rather than memorizing. He is very smart. You will learn a great deal from him.
Nice guy but his classes are definitely hard. People mostly complain about his tests mostly due to the fact that they are very hard. Try your best to get a high C on his tests and get to a A from the lab. The power point barely helps so always attend the lectures. Soft spoken and expect many others to drop out.
he is he absolute worst professor I have ever had in my entire life and does not care about how his students perform. He is also terrible when it comes to helping students outside of the class-never answers emails and is extremely judgmental. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Very interesting class, but has a very large work load, which is difficult to keep up with in a matter of a 3 week summer course. He assigns a group project that requires a lot of research and with the heavy work load that you already have, this class seems to be more torture than enjoyment. I had higher expectations.
Honestly I wouldn't listen to any of the reviews down there. He is soft spoken, but whatever comes out of his mouth is on the exams. Record the lectures, listen to them a day or two before the exam and you're set. I'm an average student so if I can get an A, it's not that hard. Pay attention and you'll do more than fine. He's an amazing professor.
Dr. Halaby is a really intelligent man. His exams are based on his lectures so make sure to take good notes. Also, the exams are fair but tricky, so take your time to read the questions carefully and THINK!. Last, he's kinda disorganized and very soft spoken when he's teaching! In a scale from 1 to 5, I would give him a 3!
This class was tough! Keep up with the reading and you can do well. The class consists of a quiz and discussion every week, labs, and a group project. The quiz questions are VERY detailed and really test your knowledge of the material, so it would be best to actually read through the chapters. The discussions can require a lot of research at times.
Sit in the front, record the lectures. Tests are 50 mult. choice questions but they can be tricky. An online 5 question, 10 minute quiz before every test (4), google the answers. Don't buy the book, the powerpoints and recordings are all you need. Nice guy but sometimes seems like he doesn't really know his stuff too well. Final not cumulative.
He's disorganized and confusing when he's teaching but his exams are based on his lectures. Write everything down even if you don't understand, It will make sense later. His exams are tricky and confusing, so read the questions twice. He's not the best but not the worst, he's ok!
He knows what he is doing, speaks very low but sit in the front to record lecture and you'll be fine. Reading the text book helps so you know what he is going to talk about. UNDERSTAND THE MATERIAL do not memorize his tests are based in understanding, read the questions more than once. If I didn't get a higher grade it was my own fault.
Dr. Halaby is a very knowledgeable, smart Professor. If you want to learn take him. I have taken 3 classes with him. He is an amazing Professor. His exams are not easy not tough, you just have to learn the concept rather than memorizing. I have learned so much from his lectures. Very nice person.
The dude jumps around too much when he's teaching and that makes things hard to understand. His questions on the exams were very cryptic and confusing so make sure you think TWICE before you fill the scantron. Labs are easy so they can help to boost your grade. There's no too many professors for cell&molec but I would avoid him if possible.
Very knowledgeable, it's easy to memorize the materials but can YOU actually apply it when it comes to the exam. I like the fact he doesn't believe cumulative final which is really great, 4 finals but drop lowest one, about 5 quizzes plus lab
Basically everyone who said this guy was a good teacher completely led me wrong. I have never received lower then a B until I took this class. He tells you not to buy the book but you should absolutely do it and don't even bother going to class. Read the book and go for exams and you'll do better then I did just using him as a resource
He has the most uninteresting voice when he's teaching and that makes lectures absolutely boring. Make sure u record him and sit in the front otherwise you're gonna fall asleep. His exams are tricky and for some reason he makes things harder to undersdand when in reality they are not that hard. Take another professor if u actually want to learn
His exams can be very tricky because they are based on understanding, not just memorizing. His lectures are very boring and he teaches in a very mediocre way which makes you fall asleep. I Still passed his class with a good grade but didn't learn a lot with him. His way of teaching just didn't click on me.
Took Dr. Halaby's Cell & Molec course and really learned a lot. He knows his stuff and his lectures prepare you for the MCAT. I will definitely take another course with Dr. Halaby.
Very smart guy but I personally didn't find it to be very approchable to the subject. Even though his exams are fair he makes things very confusing to understand. Very average in general, not the best professor.
The dude is smart but his way of teaching is extremly lazy and uninteresting. His exams are based on understanding concepts rather than just memorizing but in order to understand them well you need a good explanation, and that's what he lacks of. Take someone else if u wanna have a good background for future courses.
Dr. Halaby is a very knowledgeable and a smart Professor. If you want to learn and willing to put the time and effort take him. I took my DAT and his notes and classes prepared me. You must learn the concept and understand it well in order to do well in his classes. His lectures and thinking style exams prepares you.
Absolutely boring and horrible professor. He teaches in a very vague way and doesn't really put a lot of effort. Jumps around topics which makes the class very unorganized. The exams are very confusing and makes topics hard to understand. Don't take him, he won't give you good basis
His class is super boring so I don't recommend taking him at 8am. Everything in the lecture was on the exams, but his voice is so monotonous that you can hardly pay attention!! I would look at other profs before registering with halaby
First professor who made everything click. You need to put in the work to pass. Make your own study guides, review notes, watch youtube videos and study 2 weeks prior to the exams. When he asks a question in class, write it down (usually asks those questions in some form on exams). Does NOT curve/round up. He sincerely wants his students to pass.
Dr. Halaby explains everything you need to know for the exam during his lectures. Write everything he says , watch videos, make study guides and GO TO HIS OFFICE HOURS. He's very helpful but his exams could be very tricky and the wording of questions could be difficult. You will be fine as long as you put work on this course.
I took Dr. Halaby's BIOL 112 course in Spring 2016. Their were no surprises on his exams. If you attend lecture and take good notes, you'll be fine. Dr. Halaby is very approachable after class and during office hours. Looking forward to taking more courses with him.
I was lucky to take Senior Seminar last summer with Dr. Halaby as an online course rather than during the academic year when it's taught by adjuncts. He made the course very interesting and I learned a lot from participating in the discussions. I highly recommend others take this course with Dr. Halaby. You'll be happy you did.
Took Dr. Halaby's online Embryology course last fall. Was one of the best experiences I've had as a bio major at MSU. At first, decided to take it 'cause it would look good for dental school, but at the end I learned lots of cool information about how an embryo becomes a human being! Highly recommend this course.
Prof. Halaby is a very nice person. I took him for BIOL 112 his class was easy he explains his power points no book needed but his exams were hard to pass because it was harder than what we lean in class and he puts a lot of multiple choses which will confuse you. There was 4 exams (50 question each) and 1 quiz before each exam (it was online quiz)
Dr. Halaby is a great professor and very knowledgable he gets his point across tho he might get side tracked. His voice is very mellow and can be boring if you sit in the back, but if you sit in the FRONT and actually pay attention, you will learn a lot more trust me. ALSO Write down everything he says because thats mostly what will be on the exams
Write down everything he says, that is basically the exam. He really knows the info and can answer any outside questions you have. He is so smart and helpful and can explain things until you get them. Will definitely take him again.
Dr. Halaby is a really good guy, but the exams are EXTREMELY difficult. I would recommend writing down everything he says during class because it will probably be on the test. He is pretty quiet and monotone but if you can manage to pay attention, there is a lot of value in what he has to say.
Dr halaby is a sweet person and he cares about students and actually learning. However, his tests are all about what he teaches in class and he is a very boring lecturer. He starts talking about things that are out of place and confuses everyone. Very boring. Hard. I will definitely not take again
He seemed like a really nice guy but I would never take this class with this professor AGAIN. His exams are HARD the multiple choice is extremely confusing. He talks way to much about his personal life leaving little room for actual lecture time then tells us class will be at a faster pace for the sake of time. Save yourself the trouble.
Seems like he has good intentions but goes off topic alottttt. His exams are okay but just be careful how you read his questions sometimes. He posts online quizzes but you only get a few minutes to take them and he makes all of the questions but writes them in a manner that is a bit hard to understand. His class is super easy aside from this.
He's a genuinely nice guy but talks too much during office hours. He gives 3 multiple choice exams and does not curve grades at all. He gives a few extra credit opportunities but not alot. He teaches you a very simplified and understandable version of biology but you should do some private studying for the MCATs bc its not so detailed. Overall easy
His voice is so low his lectures are so boring you would literally sleep! His tests are 50 questions multiple choice and so challenging! Even if you get a 69 he wouldnt curve you to a C. I dont recommend at all unless you want to hear boring lectures and study on your own!
Wouldn't miss his lectures bcs he skips a lot of slides and sometimes adds extra information, take notes. His exams are really easy if you study the slides covered and any additional info he shares. Stays on topic and does not go on a tangent. He does not expect you to know anything beyond what he talked about. Online quizzes are easy.
good dude, but his tests are really hard. Does not give extra credit
Dr. Halaby is such a great professor, he is a very caring guy and really wants to see his students learn and succeed. If you are ever having trouble with a topic in the course his is very helpful inside the classroom and outside the classroom. I would highly recommend him and take him again in a heart beat.
It seems like online classes are always harder than the in class courses. Since exams are online the question swill be harder, but it is based off the textbook readings and lecture videos posted. Can't complain too much.
Hes such a sweet and caring professor, and really wants his students to learn and encourages them to ask questions. Only con is his voice is a little low so you really need to pay attention. His exams dont really have any surprises, and sometimes they include quiz questions. Only 4 quizzes through canvas and are pretty easy.
Decent professor, explains everything very well in lecture. 4 quizzes, and 4 exams with the lowest exam dropped sums up the entire course. Exams are difficult! You need to really understand the lecture material in order to get a good grade.
Dr. Halaby is one of the best professors at MSU. You can never go wrong by taking any of his classes. For all his classes you need to study and pay attention to stress-free because he got no tricks or tries to be hard. His online classes are the best. Your grade will be based on discussion, quizzes, and 1/2 papers. The workload/grading is 100% fair
I rarely review anyone, however Dr. Halaby deserves one. He is a very knowledgeable, articulate and respected professor. I took two classes with him and learned so much. I moved out of the U.S. to continue my education and believe it or not I still refer to his notes for medical school. His classes require lots of studying, but you'll learn.
Online course consists of a discussion board every week, quizzes, and then 2 essays. The quizzes were definitely challenging but if you read the textbook you will not struggle (at least I didn't, the averages for the quizzes were on the lower side so I assume they did not read). I recommend taking his course if you have the time and motivation :)
prof Halaby is a good prof, just take notes of everything he says in class and try to pay attention to everything he says cuz his exams are based on what he went over. people say his exams are tricky but I find them fair cuz it's exactly what he taught in lecture. he has 50 multiple choice questions on all 4 exams and no final cumulative.
So this was my sixth class with Reggie and I am sososo happy I did it! The course itself material wise wasn't difficult, but u only get graded by discussion boards and 1 essay and 13 quizzes. Quizzes were difficult ! But if I could do it, you probably can too ! I recommend taking him but BE CAREFUL!
LOVE Dr Halaby! He is very knowledgable about his field and is one of the most kind people ever. Go to lecture and take good notes and you'll do fine
A good overall professor, his lectures can be confusing but he takes his time to answer any questions you have. He assigns a lot of quizzes, and they're not that easy. Show up to class and take notes you'll be fine. He skips through a lot of PowerPoints and recommends people to come to class. Exams ARE LECTURE HEAVY. He does NOT use textbooks.
Very boring professor. I bet he has memorized the lectures he gives at this point. He shows no interest to what he's teaching, and so you don't feel interested either. Tests are very hard. His office hours are pointless, bc/ he makes them awkward. It's just you asking questions and him takin a deep breathe before he answers (not helpful). Avoid him
Best Bio230 professor out there. I failed this class my first time with a 40 and got an 80 in this class. The class is exam heavy but they are all multiple choice and he gives you 15 questions out of 50 on all the exams. if you show up to the lecture so you know what to focus on on the slides and study those specifically, you will do great.
Do well on quizzes/labs, and you should do well. Fair warning, reach out to him if you're struggling with the material. Overall, class is straightforward and easy.
The best professor in the biology department. To pass his class you will need to attend lectures and take decent notes. Office hours are good and answers emails fast. If you have the opportunity to take a class with him just do it because you will not regret it. Exams are leacture heavy but are 100% fair.
Professor Halaby is one of the best biology prof. I have ever had. His exams are lecture heavy though, so make sure to attend class and take good notes. He gives you 15 questions on the exam that are straight from the quizzes. He is super nice and very patient when you don't understand a topic and will gladly explain it to you. Definitely take him!
Professor Halaby is one of the best bio professors around. While the exams are lecture-heavy, attending class and taking good notes is key. unstuck study and the free textbook are great study aids too. Overall, a challenging but rewarding course.
He's chill, but honestly seems a bit too relaxed at times. Almost as if he does not care. If you're going to take him for cell molec definitely pick him over any other Prof out there, except Suriano if he ever teaches it. Other than that, avoid if you can.
His lectures are short and not long but her talks really low making it boring and hard to pay attention.
Save urself stress. Avoid taking him for any class outside of Cell/Molec. At lease, he does not grade posts and reports too harsh. His quizzes are realy hard because some things are not even in the book. Good luck.
Dr. Halaby makes sure you understand the concept before moving to a new topic. He challenges and engages us during the lectures. I enjoy his lectures and plan to take more classes with Dr. Halaby.
good professor for developmental biology. quizzes were ok, read the textbook, use chatgpt for summarizations of the text, and look at the key concepts that are asked for in each chapter. Discussions are easy and lab reports are fairly easy as well. Use quizlet as well teehee.
Unorganized and always insanely late to every exam and class; you have to rush, which is unfair. Side-tracks a lot and then says it won't be on the exam, but then puts it. Whoever shows up or participates do okay on the exam, but if someone cheats and brings up the average, he compares by saying that if one person can get a good grade, we all can.
