He judge final grade base on final exam. If you did poorly on the final exam, he will judge final grade base on homeworks.
He is very nice. He try to help all of students. He help students even they are not in his class, but he teach about theory al lot
He's very nice teacher who I've ever seen. He's always in Learning Lab to help students, even aren't his class.
He uses the final exam's grade as the grade for the course.
His class is heavy on the theory side. I don't recomend him if you are just filling a prerec. If you are a math, science, or engineering major he is great.
He does not keep attendance but it would be wise to go to as many classes as possible. He is a very fair teacher and will work with you if you need help. He makes you think around things a lot more, he doesn't just give you formulas and tells you to do problems...he wants you to approach math in a different way, which works if you try.
He is very nice teacher. The rate depand on final exam. You want to get ?? try to do all homeworks .
grade all depends on final
Great teacher! Helped me a lot with linear algebra, and in general he is willing to help any student that needs his help. He is great in programming A
Great teacher! Helped me a lot with linear algebra, and in general he is willing to help any student that needs his help. He is great in programming too, and helped me with great examples.
This guy is an enigma. Okay, maybe not himself, but the way his mind process works. All of the class had a hard time understanding the way he taught. In the beginning everyone was frazzled, but we got used to it. Most of the information clicked, but we needed more days to fully understand the material. Also, he's very cute, in a geeky sort of way.
i want to learn in his class but hard to get it, a lot of stress to take his class, he talk about something then give some homework which he never talk about before, what makes you feels bad, also, before the final, no chance to know what's going on,what grade you will have. no quize, even you have quize, you can't get it back!don't take his class!
Nice guy, Good: No text book or attendance. BAD: Entire lecture are based on theory, the FINAL is your only chance to get any grade in the class. Weirdest method of learning math I ever had... but other than that HES a COOL guy.
the best teacher in community
the best teacher in community
He was a great teacher, and he kept things simple. He went over things as much as we needed him to, and he was ALWAYS around to help. He is also very easy on the eyes.
Any student who really wants to understand Calculus, I think the best choice should be Huntsinger. However, if you only want to pass the class without understanding, you have to register with another teacher because he knows how to evaluate his students.
The grad is based on final that's all, he doesn't look at anything else! If you want talk to him' he has no office hour and he doesn't reply emails. I not recommand him to anyone
very nice guy. teaching methods were a little hard for me to understand. the dude's a straight up mathematician, so maybe hes a better teacher at the more advances levels. i dont know. HOWEVER, hes the kind of guy who would help you after class etc.until you got it. very good and nice guy, will help you with any question even if its not math related
He's cool but dont take his class if you want an easy A
very nice interesting and helpful guy, although his teaching methods are very confusing beacuase they are based heavily on theory. i think you have to be a certain type of learner to take easily to this class.
He presents a new way of thinking that is crystal clear and easy to remember.. I learned stuff.
Dr. Reid C. Huntsinger IS by far the best we have at CCP. He's passionate about his work, cool/layback,very knowledable, ALWAYS available to help students. Although his teaching methods and approach are different,I appreciate having him as my math professor. I highly recommend him. Thanks for all of your help. Not to mentioned he's handsome! MET...
I experience a great deal of impediment with "Process Diagram," but because he went out of his way to help me; today, I completely understand it. His approach is rare, but great! I can't express my gratitude for helping me. He's cool, easy-going, has right attitude to teach & enjoys teaching! He inspires me to get my DSW. You are truly the best!!
Smart as smart can be. Extremely nice and very helpful. His way of teaching wasn't too easy, but that's only because we are not as smart as he is, but he will go over it until you understand it. No homeworks, tests, or quizzes other than the final. I took him for Summer I so he might give a midterm during Spring and Fall, but he does provide review
Well, he's a really nice guy but his way of teaching pretty much blows. I can't understand anything he's saying. THE FINAL IS THE ONLY THING THAT DETERMINES MY GRADE FOR THE CLASS. Thats so much pressure AND I don't get whats going on in class. I want to cry. I should've dropped when I have the CHANCE. Warning you guys now. Wish someone warned me.
I took him for a Summer course which was even harder but I have to say even though he was hard he is one of the best teachers I've had His teaching may be hard but his grading is very fair. I thought I would fail his class but I passed with an A that I worked for. I would take him for another math class if I could.
Dr. Huntsinger is one of the best! He is a genius. Not your average educator, he has patience to teach, very cool guy, funny, good looking, his approach is rare, however, I can promise you, you will learn a lot from him. No textbook = saves $, no quizzes/exams, BUT be sure to do ALL HWK assignments. I highly recommend Dr. Reid Huntsinger. MET
He's a genius! One of the best professors at Community. He works really hard and extremely helpful to his students, no doubt about it. Very good looking man, would love to go out with him, but it's a shame I'm his student. :(.
WORST teacher. Only grade used was the final exam grade. No textbook was used during the semester and he never gave the class a syllabus. And he never returns any of your work ... DONT TAKE HIS CLASS
If you are great at taking a cumulative exam, Dr. Huntsinger is your man. I like the semester being broken up into 2-3-4 exams. Not one. Would not recommend. He will help outside of the class room which was a help but the math learning lab is PACKED with all his students trying to understand what is going on so he would always be busy.
I barely understood anything in his class only things I already knew previously.. He made very simple stuff seem so much harder by the way he explained it, has no office hours, wants you to proof how you solve a problem. the final is the only thing that determines your grade. O yea, and no calculators allowed during final. DONT TAKE HIM
Horrible teacher. You don't use a textbook, he barely gives homework and it doesn't count toward your grade. You don't get a test until the final exam! You don't take a midterm either. You basically don't have a grade until finals week. He's not clear about anything, and doesn't make any sense. Don't take him.
Huntsinger is one of the best that CCP has to offer. He makes you think about the problems critically rather than just using formulas to solve them. The good thing about his teaching style is that he makes you understand the reasons why formulas work. It's true that he's difficult, but he's worth taking and learning from.
Professor Huntsinger is a professor that doesn't agree with standardized tests. I like him for that. He is patient, clear, proficient in his lessons. He would stay after class or meet you in the tutoring lab if you need help. He is great I would recommend him to anyone. He doesn't use the book and I think that is better because the book is confusing.
i like him, he's a nice guy, but i would NOT recommend his class. he doesn't give homework or tests, which seems nice, but then you realize that the only grade you have are finals. there were things on both finals that were not covered in class, i thought that was unfair. cool guy, but his class is actually hard because of the lack of grades.
DO NOT TAKE HIM! He is a very nice guy but should not be teaching. My entire class was confused. His teaching method is different, that's why he doesn't use a book. I went to a tutor and she couldn't understand his method. He complicates it. He also gave the entire class I for midterms, never returns a test, and didn't submit final grades on time.
Very nice guy, but his way of teaching math 118 was TERRIBLE. He tries to teach math in a new way but, it just makes things harder than what it really is. There was never no form of exams until the final. You never know where you stand in this class. He puts his notes on the computer and they were not any help at all. Run as fast as you can.
I would not recommend him to anyone! He's not a good teacher and even if you try getting outside help no one knows what he's talking about or how to do his problems.
I was retaking this class to improve my GPA and I found that he made things very difficult. I found him to be a great guy, clearly interested in teaching, and always willing to offer help. But, I found that he was teaching things in a very complex manner and expected us to learn things that were loosely related and I hadn't seen at all before.
He is really nice. Tries to help you. But he can not teach. It was extremely difficult for no reason. He rarely did attendance, if he gave homework he hardly checked it and no books! you're graded on 1 thing- THE FINAL!That might seem great but its really not.
He's a cool guys. Joke a lot. The knowledges he teaches are not basic for me.
He is a HORRIBLE professor. He doesn't have any homework and no textbook. His lectures aren't structured. It's based on what he feels like teaching. DO NOT TAKE HIM if you need a lot of explaining to understand the concept.
Stay as far away from this guy as you can. He's a genius but cannot teach. You will not learn anything.
He's a very nice guy and very helpful. his teaching style is unique, but you will adapt to it..seriously take him...i wish i can take him in every math class that i have...
My Favorite math prof of all times...He will answer every questions that you have..and help you understand the materials..if you're looking for an easy A, then don't take his class, because he'll expect you to study hard and do your work...his test are hard if you don't grasp the materials
This prof is my favorite math prof ... He is really nice and very helpful :)
I had him for Calc 1 or calc 171 and Huntsinger teaching style is EXTREMELY difficult to adjust to. It's like you have to decipher what he is asking or saying, then figure out what he's asking then solve the problem. It is extremely challenging to understand calculus the way he teaches it.
He has a very strange teaching style, and the only grade you have is based on the final. He doesn't have a textbook and no calcs allowed, but I did learn more in that math class than any math class I've ever had prior. He's an awesome guy, very kind, willing to help, pretty funny, and certainly not bad looking. He doesn't take attendance either.
DON'T TAKE HIM! He's SO nice, and KNOWS math... CAN'T TEACH THOUGH! Math was my favorite subject and I had never got below an A prior to this class, glad I dropped him! The class started with 35 kids and by the time I dropped had 10. He blames it on students not studying, but it's him not illustrating! Don't buy the book, won't use it EVER.
He said that its not mandatory to buy a textbook because he was going to provide notes that he would type up himself & send to you via CCP email. The notes are written as he is there talking to you.not enough examples for the particular topic.he will teach you how to solve equations using a diagram that he came with. it does not work for me at all!!
If you have a lot of time to study, and you are good at teaching yourself. Then.....i don't know. He is really hard to understand to me and so are his notes. But he WILL help you and stay as long as you need him to. He is also very nice. But his class was difficult for me.
Professor Huntsinger is very nice, and very helpful to his students who need to solve complicated problems. However, his teaching methods are strange, and very hard to adjust. He implemented problems on the final exam, which were not covered in class. I recommend not to take him since he never grade quizzes and my class never had a mid-term exam!
He is a great teacher with extreme patience and enthusiasm of solving mathematics problems. He helps you comprehend the concept and reason of using particular math rules or methods. He is a genius, best teacher for students who love mathematics and really want to learn solving problems. Not an easy A, but definitely worth a hard working.
This professor focuses on conceptual understanding. He is way more interested in students learning how and why systems, equations, and functions work the way they do. His style is different as many others have mentioned but if you are willing to put in the work you will glean tremendous value from taking a course with him.
I took math 161 for the fall semester. Right off the bat he told us he didn' know how he was going to grade us. everybody in the class receive a ip for their midterm grade mind you we didn' take no midterm test. didn' take any test at all. receive barely any homework. i would suggest you go to him if you like to learn on your own or would like to
Please do not take this teacher. I took it but I regretted , he did only one exam during the whole semester, it was the Final exam. He doesn't use text book. only his notes. He is the only who can explain you . in the math learning lab, tutors said they don't understand his of teaching, however , they cannot help you. the bad semester I never had
Professor Reid is very fair, If you go to class everyday, show your efforts, ask questions and try your best, you will pass the class. Trust me. Come to the Math lab anytime you feel confused, otherwise you will not be able to catch up with his notes. Good luck ! He is a nice, funny, cute, and smart guy.
Please do not take his class. He doesn't use a textbook. He only uses a set of notes that are so hard to understand because he wrote them himself. No one in the learning lab will be able to help you. All of the tutors say they do not understand his style of teaching. There is only one assignment the entire semester which is the final.
Do Not take at all by far the worst class and terrible terrible terrible terrible policies
Best Prof. out there. He actually cares about his students and spends extra time with you. He'll try his best to make you pass the class. I'm not a CCP student but he gave extra care and support to me.
No clear grading criteria. If your whole world does not revolve around math- consider yourself screwed. This professor writes for scholarly mathematicians and whines a lot if students have difficulty. Maybe he should look at the big picture and realise its him, not us. When everyone is struggling you ccant just blame everyone. Do not take!!!
He is the best math teacher. Do the assigned homework problems and you will pass with a great grade. His homework questions are similar to the questions on the test so be sure to review and do those. He is very helpful but you have to ask for help when you are struggling. If you fail this class, blame yourself, not the Prof.
Dr. Huntsinger truly wants his students to do well. He's a little rough around the edges but all in all he is one of the best calc teachers at CCP. I highly recommend taking him. People who're complaining here are the ones who didn't work hard and they just want to blame their teacher. Grow up and take the responsibility of your failure.
He is very dedicated to his job. If you're the type to slack and do things last minute, I advise you to drop his class immediately because you will fail. He is willing to help you as much as possible if you are actively seeking him for help. I'm taking him again next semester. A great person in general.
if you love yourself you won't take this professor
If your major has nothing to do with calculus, then do not take this professor. It's a conceptual class based on absolutely no grading - seemed like he kinda just pulled out people's final grades from thin air, considering he didn't even mark the one and only final he gave.
Dr. Huntsinger really cares about his students. He really wants them to succeed. By that I mean he just doesn't want students to get a letter grade but to actually understand the concepts pretty clear. If you're that type of person who goof around in class and complain, please drop his class. You'll definitely fail. To me he was the best Calc Prof.
He is awesome, he can answer any question about calc or any other subject relating to math. I would take him again :)
When you ask questions the professor branches off to other irrelevant topics. Theoretical and unnecessary stuff, like he will never answer a question: yes or no. It will usually be another question- questioning you. Not very helpful if you ask me, this is about learning & this professor makes it difficult to grasp overly-conceptual aspects of math.
for anyone looking to take this calculus professor- do yourself a favour and don't. think about your gpa and how you want to be graded because the way huntsinger grades is quite ambiguous. he will also have unclear lectures that are messily written around the board. hard to follow. not a professional calculus class.
This class was a tetribke decision an awful regret. Math involves practice and Huntsinger just throws stuff at you. If you ask for help, he does not give good feedback. You've been warned!
Unless you're an engineering/math major and can teach yourself really well, do not take this class. This is most time-consuming course I ever took and it was a big waste. Even going to his office hours will do you no good.
Boring lectures and no way to get an accurate grade. Dont risk your time or money.
Dr. Huntsinger is arguably one of the best math professors at Community College of Philadelphia and provides highly intuitive yet theoretical explanations of the most fundamental concepts of mathematics. If you wish to gain a true understanding of mathematics, look no further, Dr. Huntsinger opens the door. Will you enter?
A math teacher unlike any other. Had him for precalc and calculus. In precalc, he wasn't to bad but, in calculus its a different story. His lectures are boring and seems to be unorganized sometimes. You only have one test (Final) and that is the determining factor whether you pass or fail. He is not clear and has trouble simplifying the subject.
Huntsinger might not be the right teacher for students that have not taken math for awhile. He is confusing, And is very difficult to understand his terminology. He is willing to help but might not be very efficient. Personally I would not take him again. Most likely you're gonna fail.
He writes his own notes that are overwhelming and confusing at first but keep reading and rereading them. Spend as much time as you can while he is in the lab. It is not easy adjusting to his teaching style bc he wants you to use reasoning for solving. He wont ask for homework but do it. Hes hard but hes an amazing teacher. Absolutely brilliant.
He uses a SUPER alternative style of teaching and problem solving. Once you just accept his style, you see that his methods actually WORK and are EASY to use. What you put into this class, is what you get. Point blank. No more, no less. He can be rather confusing, but don't give up and just speak up and reach out for help. I can math now !
He is the type of teacher that makes you think about how things work. He is not a machine like others
Huntsinger makes me want to murder myself in sacrifice and in the summoning of Sir Isaac Newton's ghost. The ritual consists of one final, 12 problems that we never went through BUT we went over the concept and theory behind it. So, just write on big MLA style paper for your final because that is what Huntsinger probably expects from you.
the only grade is the final and it sounds like a good idea and he even convinces the class it's a good idea. But then before you know it you realize his notes for a math course consist of pages and pages of text (no textbook) that make very little sense to anyone who doesnt already have a math degree. His questions are never straight forward either
I have never encountered a professor like him before. NO tests No syllabus your grade rides on the final exam! he gave us some practice homework and a quiz one time he never returned so we don't know where we stand. He's too smart, he jumps all over the place with a problem and does not explain it. you teach yourself! find another professor
1st off, your grade is based mainly on just the final exam! When I attended, this involved a take-home assignment where group work was expected. Make sure you form a study group early-on and be proactive about this. he is all theory and uses his own terminology. The textbook used is mainly typed notes he wrote that are a work-in-progress.
I LOVED this class. I hate math. I HATE MATH. But I loved this. His teaching style is different, it's hard, I worked harder to understand it than I've ever worked for anything, but he takes into account your effort, participation, and basic understanding of concepts , and if you work hard you will pass! Also, SO nice & amazingly brilliant!
Worst Professor ever! I'm a Temple student and decided to take this over the summer, I would say this guy does not how to teach. He uses his own methods rather than following guidelines which makes it so much confusing. The only whats graded is the final. If you have to take up to calc 3 then dont take here cause it will confuse you.
This class was extremely hard! He has his own style of teaching so he jumps all over the place. He tell u in the beginning of the class that everything u learned was wrong, which on confuse you more. I did every homework assignment got no feed back. During class participation I did really well then failed the one test your entire grade rely on.
Most chillinest teacher. Spends as much time as you need for him to explain whatever you don't understand outside of class. Most illinist teacher. Has a practical approach to education. Bomb a test? He will let you make it up, by proving you know the material. Many teachers could take a page from his book. He is most ill, rhymin and teachin.
Worst math professor ever. Only have one test because he is to lazy to grade them. He some how make the class agree that having only one test to determine pass/fail is a good idea. Worst approach to teaching math by a college professor ever. Lectures can put any baby to sleep. Stay away from this professor to save yourself time and money.
Grading criteria is still unknown. Poor dicorced guy doesnt know how to teach a class it realy clouds his judgement since he has no grading criteria. Dont take him. It will cost you a lot of time and money. Lectures dont follow any guideline and always run late!
Lectures and exams dont go hand in hand. Going to offive hours he wont do anything but teaach more irrelevant material. A really depressing experience i dont recommend
If you're into taking an online READING course rather than learning actual math in classrooms, then take this guy. This guy is more interested in the literal concepts of math than the actual math itself. He doesn't understand that the point of lectures isn't to repeat what is written in the dictionary, it's to show how to solve the problems.
Incredibly smart and proficient at math so if you are lacking fundamentals you may have a tough time catching up. Make sure you spend time reading/doing examples outside of class. Getting a Calc book to use alongside his notes helps (I used Hughes-Hallet) He is extremely helpful and wants you to succeed but needs to know you actually get the math.
He is unsystematic, and walked away from my question about the final, in front of the classroom.
Nice and funny man, but horrible teaching! He is very smart but you will have a hard time understanding him if you are taking statistics. The only grade is the final grade !!! Beware!
If you require structure in order to learn, this is NOT the Professor for you. Your whole grade rides on the Final. He gives homework and a midterm quiz, and does not return them, so you have no idea if you're understanding the coursework. He does not follow a book and pulls questions out of the air all semester long.
Absolutely absurd. Gave one (!!!) graded assignment for the entire class and then proceeded to give every single student Fs or "incomplete"s. You have a PhD in mathematics; you should understand the concept of a common denominator, my dude. Never again.
Linear algebra is a hard course, and it's even harder if you take it with Reid. You're pretty much on your own when it comes to this class. The only thing that is graded is the final exam which is incredibly hard containing problems that only consist of proofs. Notes are rarely posted, and there's no way of gauging how much you know. Don't take.
He thinks structure is for babies.
Your grade is your final. The class has no structure for the other 14 weeks of the course. Rants about irrelevant topics, assigns homework but doesn't grade or give feedback . You have to teach yourself.
It is hard to follow his steps to understand the math, even though I studied some knowledge before , but it is still difficult because he usually does not give us some practices in class, he just lectures the theory, and write a lot of notes, but I still can not understand, and no homework return to us after we turn in, Don't take it.
So bad this professor is. He enjoys lecturing theory, but does not care about whether students will accept and understand what he lectures. Before some people drop this course, they tell him it is too hard to follow him because there are not exact examples and practices in class. And he never does any changes, just does everything as before.
A lot of readings written by himself which is talkative and hard to understand. Even though he uses the textbook, the most of what he lectures in class is from his own words. There would be no response to your email and no review for final exam. You need to study by yourself and had better set up a study group as early as possible.
Very interesting and theoretical. Does not use the standard text book and covers material in ways that are different to the standard approach. Also covers topics that are quite useful but not usually done in a standard undergrad basic calculus class. Make sure you're rock-solid on your prereqs like algebra and trig. He is willing to help.
DONT TAKE HIS STATS CLASS. Does not care about students. Requires an older book that was difficult to track down, taught things that are worded completely different from the book, which made it difficult to teach myself the subject outside of class. Condescending when students asks questions: acts like you should know already. FINAL is only grade.
He's the best Professor I've ever had! Extremely intelligent, funny & helpful. He's changed the way I study Math & I'm grateful to him for this! His teaching method is different; it's challenging but interesting & will motivate to push yourself further. Make sure you're solid with your fundamental stuff & stop whining! You're here by choice guys!
Please make sure that you can stand that the prof is lecturing the theory to you all the time. And a lot of notes to read. Just depend on yourself.
Worse teacher ever never take this professor. Only gives one test at the end. Most tutors dont know how to teach his math. He teaches theories
Dr. Huntsinger's approach to teaching is unorthodox, to say the least. While I don't feel like he prepared me for Calc 2 as far as the more trivial things went, like remembering rules for limits and stuff, my understanding of calculus is much deeper than it would have been if I had had someone else. Really friendly guy, too!
A horrible teacher!!!!!!!!
He is clearly passionate, very smart and mostly kind. However his teaching style DOES NOT meet the needs of students who don't have as much access to resources/privilege (time, solid math foundation, etc). Teaching style is very pedantic and you have to be able to keep up. He does not create a structure for multiple learning styles/access points.
Dr. Huntsinger is a cool guy and knows a ton about math but he is a very poor teacher. His classes are filled with lectures that have no structure so you never know if he's teaching something relevant or just going on a tangent. He has a unique notation and no syllabus making it impossible to learn yourself. Either don't take him or drop him now.
I thought Huntsinger was a good lecturer and I learned a lot in his class, but when the grades were released, it didn't matter how much you attempted on the take-home test, you still got a B. I wasted so much time on that test. If you take his class my advice is to just copy off of someone. Don't try too hard.
Put in the work (15 hrs a week) and you can learn and do well in this course.
Zero tech you won't understand what he talks about also he doesn't care about his student easy F also he try to make the class harder to make sure you get F
Professor Huntsinger was one of the worst professor I have ever had. His grading rubric is not based off numbers, it is based off how much he thinks you understand the knowledge. He has only 2 test that take place at the end of the year. Very theory based with no number examples. I would recommend not to take him.
I regret taking him
He is actually the worst professor i have ever taken. I do not recommend him to anyone.
Awful
A great teacher with a not-so-great curriculum. It's good to think of him like a tutor: you get as much as you put in, and he's one of the most knowledgeable mathematicians I have ever met. But if you consider Bagchi evil then you should consider Huntsinger the evil nobody expects, because he'll hammer you with a big test at the end. Stay diligent!
Professor was late to class multiple times, didn't respond to emails, and his lectures were terrible and confusing. Entire course grade consisted of 3 exams and no homework grade or extra credit
This professor is super unbelievably bad
Umm spe hard to follow and unorganized lecture. He is smart but not skilled in holding students through his lecture. Hr makes it tooo complicatex!
gREAT MAN.
People that said negative things about Huntsinger are telling the truth. I regret taking his class. He gives boring lectures, use the same example unrelated to the subjects, and expect you to know everything. He doesn't help us when we ask questions. He randomly give out quizzes and exams without a telling us and never give back our grade.
Huntsinger's class structure only works for certain types of individuals. If your someone who is self motivated to actually learn some real math, and you have the discipline to email him, read the packets, and ask questions in class then take him. If not then absolutely avoid him. I enjoyed this class and still retained what I learned.
He seems lazy. He doesn't grade assignments or allow you to see your mistakes. He doesn't answer questions in any helpful way and overall just doesn't seem to care about the student or their success. His philosophy is that if a student is confused, they have to figure it out themselves. No one can do this with literally no feedback. Avoid him.
WORST prof. (smart but canNOT teach) -does not grade assigned homework -does not grade quizzes; NO feedback provided -no exams no feedback to prep you for Final Exam -Final grade take home final + in class final -confusing explanations. never a straight answer -unclear grading criteria -ATTEND class notes & examples done on spot. no copies
Please don't take his class ever. I would say it is better to wait until next semester if any other professor aren't available. Save your life if you don't take him
Please never take his linear algebra class! He doesnt give you structured information. He doesnt give you examples. He is on his own mind, and no textbooks will help to understand what he is trying to convey you. I regret spending my money and time! Worst teacher
Possibly the hardest final exam I've ever taken. Professor Huntsinger will work with you, he is very flexible and understanding; however, his style is more for those who learn from the classroom chalkboard. Only gives one exam (the final). If you are stuck don't hesitate to speak with him before or after class he will help you understand.
bad. terrible. awful.
He is a nice and warm person. The thing is his way to teach students that he answers you when you need help but he doesn't care much about grading criteria. I got a B confidently because I am good at Math and I got credit for Calculus 2 already in HC senior year. If you really want to study, you shouldn't get him unless you are really smart.
Do not take him!!!! He only has one way of teaching and usually goes off on tangents. He assigned four homework quizzes that did not goes towards the grade and gave my class a midterm two weeks before the course ended. The work is so hard and he did not help his students at all. Also, do not even try to send him an email because he does not answer
Honorable communicator, unorganized, and difficult to understand
I took his class before the COVID pandemic, so traditional environment. Amazing level of knowledge and willing to explain any concept you are having trouble with. Lots of theory. The only formal grade is on the final exam or an interview if you feel you blanked out on the test itself. Be prepared to read a lot and work long and hard in this class.
AVOID AT ALL COST! This professor was horrendous. Class was online and he would post 8-10 pages of notes with little or no instruction. Gave a midterm with 2 weeks left, and only the final counts. Horrible at communication. Simply did not do his job, amazed he is still employed. DO NOT TAKE!
hes a good guy, made me care about math more than most
Great professor if you really want to learn mathematics. He is willing to explain any concepts, that class was like Math 171, Math 172 and Math 270 together, because he always try to connect mathematical concepts one way or the other, that way students will not take things for granted.
This professor has to be the most uninterested professor. He gives tons of homework and gives NO grades. He is Extremely unorganized. I am simply amazed at how this person is still employed as a professional educator. He provides NO feedback. He is a paycheck collector NOT an Active professor. The Only thing graded is the Final Exam, NOThing else
The most knowledgeable professor I encountered at CCP Its lectures sometimes are tough to understand if your background in math is weak. But one thing I like about him is that he will help you understand everything, I use to do exercise with him for 2 hours after class, he sacrificed its out of class time for me to understand. That's just awesome.
I tried hard to grasp what was happening in the class and never entirely understood anything. No matter how much I studied, I felt this class wasted my time even though the class is mandatory.
He sucks ngl, he did only a midterm and a final for grade (he reviewed the midterm but never graded it) hes lecture heavy and loves wasting time (discussing the syllabus for 2days) and going on tangents. no hw. I got an A but I think he plays favorites...ask him how many As were in the last class (~10%), lots of people dropped or gave up good luck
I felt worse than ever about my math abilities in his class. His lectures were so profound that I couldn't follow them. And he always talks to himself for a long time and then asks if you have any questions. While I can't keep up at all...
Please wait a semester to take linear algebra with another professor. With no set syllabus or assignments before the final, you will be receiving no feedback. There is no textbook or online resource that aligns well with many of the topics Hunt goes over. I did learn a lot about math and problem solving, but not a good overview of linear algebra.
His lectures are not organized. There is no syllabus or any course modules. He barely gives any assignments (he posted 4 assignments total in a 15 week class). The assignment that he does give, he does not grade, nor does he go over them. Only thing he grades is the final, but he doesn't prepare you for the final in any way. Absolutely horrible.
Professor Huntsinger is brilliant. His course is difficult, but if you put in the effort you will learn. This is paramount and I think many of the negative reviews are from people who weren't willing to put in the effort. He is easy to talk to, funny, and genuinely cares - he wants you to succeed, and he will help you if you ask.
He is not an organized teacher and doesn't use textbooks or notes for the course; you do not know your progress or grade until the final grade is released. Your sitting in the class does not have value, nor does he have a course syllabus or calendar. He teaches whatever your choice of topic is, whether it belongs to your major or not.
The professor can be hit-or-miss, but using tools like unstuck AI along with the free textbook can really help. Attendance is mandatory, so be prepared to engage in class. Overall, a challenging course, but manageable with the right strategies.
Zero engagement with the online class. Did not post the course materials until 4 days into the semester, and uses a 2020 syllabus. No teaching - gibberish notes and exercises that make Only grade is the final which there is no preparation for. Lazy, doesn't respond to questions or emails; and offers nothing in the way of explanations
If you care about your GPA, don't take Huntsinger. No syllabus, and homework is not mandatory. If you want to keep up, you have to motivate yourself to do his homework on your own accord. Might as well be an async class. He had TWO grades for the whole semester: the midterm and the final. He has good intentions, but is also lazy. Save Yourself.
This professor must be reported to dean or the president for being not being communicative with students. Please do not take him as professor. There must be a petition to investigate for his teaching ethics.
Please do not take him
It wasnt as bad as everyone says he is. He is a bit disorganized, and BE WARNED HE DOESN'T USE CANVAS, so if you are used to that be ready for a shock and pray that you pass with C+ or B. Very kind, understanding, but very talkive, and if you do not show up to class you wont get it. So I advise you to get a book, and watch his online videos.PLEASE.
One of the worst run classes I've taken. The professor has no clear grading criteria when assigning scores. Lectures are unclear, and exams are unreasonably strict with grading. You end up teaching yourself the material and hoping for the best. I'd strongly recommend avoiding this professor.
If you don't follow his exact wording and method, you get zero, even with the correct answer. There's no flexibility or credit for valid reasoning. Grading feels arbitrary, expectations aren't clear, and independent thinking is punished instead of taught.
