This class would have been a whole lot easier if she spoke fluent english. Class is pretty easy. Gives you practice quizzes that are the same as the quiz you take.
She can't speak very good english, but she knows what she's talking about. The practice quizzes are EXACTLY like the real quizzes, which rules. She is fair and she doesn't take attendance. I have never taken calc before, and I'm doing well!

The class is boring, shes a straight-forward teacher. You have to remember to practice doing the problems and pay close attention the 1st 2 weeks, or else the class is a struggle.
Quizzes were easy, but I still learned stuff from her class. She is soft spoken, but covered all the material needed to do well on the final, great teacher.
i could not undestand a word she said, i had to change classes, and besides, she moves extremely quickly, i was doing bad becuase of her accent, and her rapid explanations and assumptions that everyone knows what they are doing.
Excellent teacher. Goes slow and makes sure all students understand material. Goes over quiz material, project is easy and lectures are clear.
All the quiz reviews are pretty much the same as the quizs you get. She goes over anything you need help in during class and is very helpful. Plus she's really nice.
couldnt be any easier- gives practice quizzes that are the exact format of tests, even for midterm/final. lets you drop 2 worst grades. very nice woman.

She was a teacher that yes, did have an accent, but i didn't find it to be a problem, while she did move fast it was a fairly reasonable pace, her tests were always what she said they were going to be, no bull, overall good teacher

Amazing woman. She's a truly caring teacher who knows how to convey her material. I paid attention, did my homework and got an A. I don't see what everyone is talking about with her accent. She's just as understandable as anyone I've ever talked to and I don't know one person in my class who had trouble comprehending her.

Awesome professor. Wants her students to do well in the class. I never had a problem understanding her. I wasn't that interested in taking calc at first and it ended up being my best class this semester.
she's a great teacher. EXCEPT for one thing. you better be damn certain that you do well on the final. my avg in the class was an 82.2 but my overall grade was a D+ because of my final.

Great math teacher. Nice woman, who wants you to do well. Takes attendance. Uses the textbook, but you really don't need to buy it. I stopped looking at it after the first few weeks. Course only gets semi-difficult towards the end when the actual calculus begins. Distribution was... 15% group project, 30% quiz, 15% midterm, 40% final.
professor Bai was a great teacher just do the class packet cuz thats basically all the quizzes are based on. Her final is hard and its worth 40 percent of your grade
Prof. Bai is a sweet, quiet Indian woman (slight accent, no problem). If you want to learn real calculus, then this class is not for you. Besides the few basic calculus concepts, I often felt like it was 10th grade algebra and not college calculus. However, since the course is required, get Bai, it's an easy class made easier by an awesome prof.
If you have to take a calc class i would definitely recommend Bai! The project was easy and the quizzes were exactly like the quiz review she gives you for homework. I had a solid A in the class until the final, which i failed and brought me down to a B. The final is 40% of your grade and is MUCH harder than you will think.
Nice lady, if you go to class, it's easy to get an A. A little bit hard to understand her accent, but not too bad. Her quizzes are exactly like her quiz reviews.
Her accent is not hard at all to understand. She is a really great professor and will gladly help you if you need it. Her quizzes are very fair - you get a review before each one that is exactly like what will be on the actual quiz.

An extremely easy class if you do her review worksheets. They are practically copies of the actual quiz. She's a very nice lady, but the class is far from exhilarating....pretty boring in fact. But hey, can Calculus really be exciting?
If you've taken high school calculus this class is a breeze. She's a nice lady too, and you can probably get away without buying the book.
Great professor. Small accent but she is nice and understands where your coming from. Teaches well.
I usually struggle in math, but Prof Bai was very clear and made sure I knew the subject matter. She gives you review the day prior to a quiz and it is almost identical to the quiz itself. drops the lowest two quizzes. One of the best math teachers I've ever had.
She'll like you and make an effort to help you if you show up everyday. she was really mean to the kids that didn't show up. She likes students that work hard even if your not particularly skilled. Hard to understand.
Has an accent. Very nice lady and will help you. Like 7 quizes she drops the 3 lowest. Final and midterm are hard but an overall easy class. Great Prof!
Overall a good teacher. could be a lot clearer and more caring. If you are not doing well in the course, don't expect her to help you at all, so work really hard.
She is a tough teacher, she WILL make you work a lot and she has a difficult accent to understand. Nevertheless, her class was fun and interesting. Likes to assist students in case they struggle.
Ms. Bai was a good teacher, she made everything very clear while she taught. You really only need the book for half of the class so if you can just share with someone in class you're golden. The final is cumulative so you need to make sure you study hard. Overall an easy class.
She teaches in a very organized, logical sequence, but does not mind stopping to address questions. She provides time for in class practice and circulates to make sure that everyone can do the work, even if they do not ask for help. She always graded quizzes in a timely fashion and very fairly. She is also flexible, moving the quizzes around.
She is a solid teacher. Not exactly interesting or the best but definitely teaches you the material. Pay attention, come to class, and if you need it schedule office hours because she doesnt exist on campus otherwise. I suggest read the book if you dont understand then ask in class. She likes questions. She has an accent-meh.
Ok. I hate the class but with her its easy yet very boring. No need to do the hw or anything. Key to succeeding would be to master the guide and practice problems they make you buy. Do it the night before and you are set. Quizez are easy, Mid terms are okay but the FINAL is challenging to say the least.
Definitely a good teacher who cares for her student's success and who, despite her strong accent and monotonous voice, explains everything very well. Average grader and has lengthy office hours. Just do the work, revise the material several times and you'll do well.

She might not be the best orator, but her classes are well organized. Though it seems like she just got off the boat she has a lot of experience. She's approachable, open to questions and brings clarity to the subject.

Very unhelpful for those who struggle with math, doesn't reply to emails. Yeah, there tends to be the students who are more math savvy who pretty much just fly through the class and grades in success. She is dull, difficult understand and approach, and has no personality to try and be more approachable. Her explanations are unclear.
Rekha Bai talks in a pretty thick Indian accent, but if you pay attention relatively well and go to class most of the time it is an easy A. Quizzes are assigned regularly, and the lowest quiz grade is dropped, so it is easy to bring your grades up. Would recommend taking math with her if you are a business or econ major!
This class was comically easy. If you have a calc requirement, definitely take Rekha. There's no reason you shouldn't get an A in this class.
This is my second class with Professor Bai. I think she has a very specific teaching style which works for some people and not for others. Fortunately, she worked for me really well. She gives many quizzes but they are short and she will tell you exactly what to expect. I think she is a great teacher for some but not for others.
I saw some people mentioning her strong accent, but it's really not a big deal. She's very nice and really chill. On the rare occasion that people jokingly express being stressed in the class, she'll just calm everybody down. Also, she's really thorough when introducing mathematical concepts.
This class was a show up, sleep for 100 min, and get an A. I couldn't stay awake in the class, and the professor stretches out about 15 min of material for the full class time.
Precalc with her was honestly a huge waste of my tuition money. Yes the class is easy, but maybe a little too easy that it makes it hard to take it seriously and stay on track. She is very condescending if you are a weak math student, and won't reply emails or provide extra help to students outside of very limited office hours.

Rekha is one of the best math professors I've ever had! She is easy to understand, although she can be quiet at times. She has students do problems in class -- they aren't for credit, but they help. She is very available in office hours and is kind to students; she'll really put in extra effort to make sure you understand. Quizzes are reasonable.
Took the course as a 2nd year and my class was mainly freshmen. they were sometimes really rude to her, but Professor Bai was a sass master and shut them down. She was very willing to give one-on-one help and allowed you to correct mistakes in your group project for points back. I enjoyed her teaching so much that I took her for MATH 1231 as well.
Overall, she's nice, but her class can be very boring because she lectures at the board the whole time. Her explanations can be confusing at times, but if you work hard and make an effort it's an easy A. There are quizzes every single week and the homework is all online but isn't due until the end of the semester.
She is the best professor to take for 1231. She very good explaining and as long as you pay attention you should get an A-/A.

I'm not sure why her recent ratings are low, but Professor Bai is sweet and interpersonal throughout the lectures despite the online format due to COVID-19. Textbook reading isn't needed as she provides ppt slides and worksheets (which the tests/quizzes are based on) and there aren't any graded hw assignments. Doing textbook problems will save you
I took this class through NUStart. The material was okay considering it was Calculus and I had taken a precalc course in high school. Either way, she is very nice but can be hard to understand. Her teaching style is not my favorite. I only passed because I went to many office hours with her, TA's and an another tutor.
Really nice but awful at explaining. The lectures are so easy but the homeworks and the quizzes are so much harder. Wouldn't recommend if you have not taken calc in highschool or struggle with math in general.
Professor Bai is the best math professor I've ever encountered. She is very helpful and willing to answer any questions. Her lectures are very clear and homework are relatively easy. She gives very clear instruction on quizzes and exams. Be sure to practice the questions in her "class pak" then you will definitely achieve high score.
Professor Bai is a nice person, but she is awful at explaining. If you are good at Calc or have previous knowledge, then this might not be too bad. However, if you are average at Calculus, do not take the class with her. Moves quickly, explains badly and very confusing. Do not recommend.
I took her Calculus - Business/Economics course as a part of NUAccelerate. Her lectures are mind numbing and the examples she explains are far from the difficulty of the homework. I basically taught myself the entire curriculum. Furthermore, she includes a semester long group project with vague instructions doesn't provide any clarification or help
She does not explain things clearly. Uses a chalkboard and erases with her hand making it impossible to take notes. Her tests are often and extremely difficult if you havent been crunching for a week. Her classes are all but interactive and, when asked for an extension, she refused.
Professor Bai was a great lecturer who clearly explained all the material you needed to know. If you needed clarification, it was explained in the textbook or by going to her office hours. She provided review material for every test that made it very easy to know what you needed to know to be prepared. There is also a semester long group project.
Taking Rekha Bai's class was one of the worst things ever. Half of the time, you cannot understand her words because she doesn't use the mic and she writes poorly on the chalkboard. She also gives tests with problems that were so far from the difficulty we learned. Beware of the semester long group project and a lot of tests. Final worth 40%.
She is a good professor but teaches at a really fast pace. She gives a lot of tests which are not that hard if you study a lot. She covers a lot in one class so don't skip any classes.
Lectures are very boring but helpful if you're having trouble in the class. 5 tests (drops lowest test), 1 semester long group project, and 1 final. Very easy class if you've taken any kind of calc class before, but may be difficult if not. Not much feedback on tests. In my opinion, it was more valuable to self-study than attend her classes.
Explains every topic very well, but to a basic level. You will often find yourself understanding the very basics of how to do something, but need to figure out the depths of it on your own. Provides plenty of practice and is very nice in and out of class. If you try you will do well, even without attending class more than once a week.
I have taken calculus before, but her lectures were very clear and helpful. Great syllabus with clear expectations and tons of practice problems. She always asks if we have questions or need her to slow down. Easy homework and fair tests. Easy group project.
Very straight-shooting teacher. Works lots of examples in class, and gives very straightforward lectures. Not a super showy personality in the classroom, but she's interesting to talk to after class if you'd really like to. Classic good teacher, would take again. (Can be a bit harsh grading quizzes, but she drops the lowest 2)
If you have taken Calculus before and you can teach yourself, then you should not go to her class unless for exams. She has a thick accent that you cannot understand what she is saying most of the time and i know for sure if I did not take Calculus in my senior year of highschool, I would have definitely failed this class.
This professor is so sweet and caring. Her lectures are very informative and she goes through a great amount of examples that helps you really understand the topics. Because she does a lot of examples you also hardly ever open the textbook. She also creates a pdf with review material for each exam which touches on all topics for the upcoming exam
Only take this class if you've taken calculus before because her lectures will only make sense to you that way. Otherwise, she just teaches the basics and then goes 0 to 100 in her examples. For the group project, she doesn't give helpful feedback and will just tell you what's wrong. She's not sympathetic whatsoever toward extensions/ makeup exams.
Professor Bai is a clearly enjoys teaching calculus for business. She goes through some of the topics very quickly and without many explanations, but she always completes a worksheet with the students and is totally opened and patient when receiving a bunch of questions. The grade consists of a group project, five tests, homework and a final exam.
Professor Bai was very sweet, but I had no idea what she was talking about most of the time. Her lectures tended to be very confusing and she was not always clear when answering questions. A majority of your grade is based on a midterm and final exam, which I found to be pretty unfair. There was a quiz once a week that were a small % of your grade
Classes are basically copying things from the board but not really engaging. As a professor, she wasn't helpful at all, I had to study by myself.
She makes this class 100000% harder, and it's impossible to understand what she is talking about during her lectures most of the time. I have to study everything by myself because she cannot explain what she teaches clearly.
I Love Her teaching ways, which first tell you the formulas then bring you some exercises, this can help me understand how those principles works and remember them. Also, although she has several paper test, you have the chance to drop one of the tests which you receive the lowest grade.
Class was very easy given I've taken Calc previously. She goes in depth with her lectures and very good at explaining. One group project and she drops the lowest test and quiz, great for keeping your grade up. textbook homework for every unit, good practice. FINAL IS WORTH A LOT (40%) !!!!
She's nice but her lectures are unclear. If you've taken calculus before, you'll do well. If you haven't, prepare to do a lot of self-learning. The directions for the final presentation are unclear. She told my group we did it wrong, so the other groups changed their projects according to what she told us, but still told them they did it wrong.

Rekha is a very good professor, I would say I am willing to take her course again so many time. I like her teaching style, she will show you the definition of sth and then go through enough examples to help you understand it. I like her class so much. I could say she inspired me a lot on math, and I change my major to math after taking her class.
Taking calc with her will be your worst nightmare if you have never taken calculus before/if you are an international student. Professor has a very hard to understand accent, so you have to do a lot of self-learning. She covers the material in class very quickly and you can't join the class online; wouldn't help you if you are struggling in class.
I don't know who writes the good comments in here but none of the classmates/people I know who took a class with her liked her and her teaching style. Very hard to follow during the lecture and not accessible outside of classes.

I know at least 10 people who dropped this class. shes so sweet, but you will not do well unless you are a math whiz who aced ap calc bc in highschool. Drop it and take it with a different professor in a different semester. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR!!!! I have no idea how anyone did well.
she seemed really nice, but the way she explained things didn't make sense to me. I'm also not very math-minded, but for a very low-level course this seemed unnecessarily difficult
Professor Bai is a really sweet and caring professor. Unfortunately, I just failed to understand her lectures, even as someone who took calculus in high school. She goes really fast and I can never write notes fast enough to keep up with her. If you zone out for even a second, she's already explained two topics and moved onto the next.
if you've taken calc before, it is very doable and honestly shouldn't be that hard. Her lectures were useless to me so I stopped going and relied heavily on the textbook to learn. Her quizzes are usually 15 minutes and 5 questions. Grade is heavily relied on the weekly quizzes and final.
Dr. Bai is very caring, wants to see her students succeed in class, and she uploads the lecture notes on Canvas. Not a difficult class if you've taken Calc in high school. Quizzes every week (40% of your grade), 20 points each, 1 midterm and 1 final exam. However, she moves too fast on important topics sometimes. All/most exams graded by her TA.
terrible at teaching w/ a heavy accent. goes too fast. If you leave for 5 mins she literally jumped 5 topics ahead. Quizzes every week, She moves onto the next topic before the quiz. Some of the things on the quizzes isn't even taught. Grade only depends on exams. Office hours didn't help. She includes Calc 2 & 3 into a Calc 1 course for business.
If I had not taken calculus in high school I would have no idea what her lectures were about. She is a very nice person, but her lectures were near impossible to follow.
Honestly made calc so easy to understand. I think the lectures were very well explained, and we did plenty of examples to solidify learning. Definitely need to pay attention and practice, but I never felt overwhelmed by the workload or difficulty of the course.

Do not take if you've never taken pre-calc or calc before. She's hard to understand and moves onto different topics really fast. Quizzes (no calculator) are in the first 15 mins of class and tests are 45 mins. The examples done in class jump from 0 to 100 on the actual tests. I've never felt so dumb as much as I do sitting in that class...
Honestly, if you're anxious about math or calc, this class is HARD. I am struggling so much. She doesn't answer questions directly, instead says "we covered it in class." The final (cummulative) is worth 40% which I think is abismal. Idk if all professors are teaching the concepts she is, but it honestly all seems more complicated than it should.
I feel lost in this class. Vantage will cost you $139. Hard to reach outside of class, but there's no point anyways. I wish the “keys” she posted included steps instead of just the answer. I'm so lost lol
She is getting a lot of hate on here but her class is not hard if you put in effort, not only in class but if you don't understand knack is a great resourse. There are quizzes every week but if you attend class and ask questions you should be fine. She's very nice and caring and always willing to answer questions and responds to emails fast.
Guys if you're not willing to study/ put in effort dont come to college lol. I agree it's easier if you've taken calc before but all the resources for you to learn are given to you. She's a little frustrating but math is math and if you study you'll be fine. Go to her office hours

Very, very, very poor teacher. Don't take this class unless you want to have a miserable semester and not learn absolutely anything. Hard to understand her because of her accent and she does not know how to teach.
There are weekly quizzes for this class and the class is too long for what you learn every class. Sometimes we just sit there waiting for the time to end instead of her letting us leave. She is really bad at explaining the concept and the only helpful resource are the videos posted on how to do the lessons but it's not even her videos.
One of the worst professors I have taken a class with at Northeastern. I have no idea why she is still teaching with all those negative reviews here.

This class if very manageable and actual first teacher to teach me how to use my calculator! Professor Bai provides study guides that are very similar to the exam. We have a group project that you can resubmit for better grade. There are 7 exams but she drops your lowest quiz AND test score! Caring professor and accessible outside of class!
Straightforward lectures, was sweet and willing to stop and further break down a problem in class. Gave a good amount of study material for quizzes and tests. Available during office hours. Would sometimes host a class on Zoom.
By far the worst class that I have taken at Northeastern. She cannot teach (its not the accent, she just cannot teach) She's constantly giving a test and she does not spend time helping students, and if you do, she won't actually help you. Horrible professor, unless your a math whiz don't take her class unless you hate yourself.

Terrible at explaining concepts
She is very hard to understand with her heavy accent and she doesn't make sure the students understand the material. The pace she teaches at is too fast for students to learn and it isn't efficient. Her grade policy is god awful and I never want to have a professor like her again.
The quiz she gives out have nothing to do with what she teaches. She also gives out quizzes every week which is insane. Never take her unless you wanna suffer through a sem.
Super easy if you did calc in high school. The teacher is nice but her lectures are useless, i stopped going after a while. Quizzes almost every week but she takes them exactly from homework, just changes the numbers. If you do the exact homeworks she assigns the day before you will do very well.

She does not care about her students, when I went to office hours she was very rude and when I did not understand something she said "how can you not understand?? these are the most basic things" she isn't very kind i would avoid her.
I don't understand the negative reviews! She is very patient and open to answer questions. As someone who isn't naturally great in math, I found this class one of the best I've taken. The lectures were pretty clear to me, and she repeats old concepts. Quizzes based on the homework assigned so they tend to be pretty fair.
The lectures were very unclear and did not help me learn the material. The course relied heavily on constant quizzes without providing the instruction needed to prepare for them. Expect to teach yourself most of the content, and it will be especially difficult if you do not already have a solid calculus background.
She was one of the first professors to make me retain math. She's super kind and understanding. Weekly quizzes were helpful in testing understanding. I don't know why she gets bad ratings because she's always super clear and knowledgeable.
Weekly quizzes but they weren't super difficult if you went to class and did the problems on the textbook. Also drops the lowest quiz, but don't trust the bad ratings very fair teacher IMO.
