Doesn't quite have her footing yet, as it is her first year teaching. Tough call at this point, but she seems eager to please and willing to compromise despite the fact that she set up a terrible lab situation where everything is high stress and asking questions causes you to lose points.
Loved coming into the lab. Very down-to-earth and is willing to joke and talk to you so long as you're not breaking everything. Just be prepped and lab's a breeze. Lectures aren't worth much, but the slides are very helpful for tests.

She's probably the most approachable teacher I've had at Case thus far. She truly cares about students and teaching, which is rare. Tests are hard by manageable, and people make the lab unduely stressful. Come in, follow the directions, use some common sense, and you'll come out fine. If you're bored, talk to Dr. Sri, she's fun to talk to.
Very difficult to understand her speak, and she doesn't like to use a microphone. This is especially a problem during pre-labs. Exams are incredibly obtuse and share little relation to the actual labs. Not incredibly difficult to get a B, but you'll have to fight for an A.
Lab was good, tests are fair
She's an absolute ****. The tests are surprisingly difficult and count for 50% of your grade - even though most of your effort in the class is for the labs themselves. She treats people like dirt and whines constantly in rescitations about how much she dislikes the job. Easily the worst prof I've had at Case so far, and that's saying something.
Labs are helpful to normal o chem class, but practicals count for 50% of the grade. Practicals are hard and labs (5% each) are easy. Great TAs!
Dr. Sri is great to those who show effort and interest in the class, but is not especially tolerant of those who decide to slack off. If you try to get to know her, you'll have a very easy time in the class.
Rude, crude, obnoxious and arrogant. Tests very difficult, require far too much study effort for a mere 2-credit course. Labs count for only half the grade, even though you'll put a huge effort in there also. Once deducted points because I swirled a beaker "incorrectly". Overall, very disappointing.
Tests are detailed but there is only so much material. memorize slides and you will be ok. try to get on her good side and she will make life easy on you. anger her and you will suffer her wrath. jokes get u on her good side. not screwing up gets u on her good side.
Trust me, take this advice: if you have to take this class, memorize all of her lecture slides completely. She picks small details out of them and if you don't know everything cold you'll get starched on the practicals. Also, if you're not getting the grades you expect from the TA, talk to him/her and ask her what to put down for each lab.
CHEM234 is much better then CHEM233. Tests can be a little tough, but not impossible. If you get a good TA, you should do well in the lab. One note: She does not like it when people are late, cell phones ring in class, or people talk in class. She will yell at disrespectful people - in front of 100+ people. She's pretty nice otherwise.
I got a 95 in her class by showing up for lab and making a flash card for each question in the very helpful study guides she gives for the practicals, easy class
Lied about the existence of aether, so I dropped the course. Michelson, a former Case professor, disproved its existence; we learned this in P2.
Discriminates against Biology Majors bumps up borderline Chemistry majors
What else can I say? She's crude, she's arrogant, she's tough, she's pushy, she's disgusting. In many ways, she's a degenerate. Her exams count for way too much of our grades, and they test us on concepts that we learn in OChem lecture and not on stuff learned in the lab. Also, the labs are way too long and almost never end on time.
Best lab professor. She may come off as dry and strict at first, but she is extremely helpful and very very knowledgeable in organic chemistry. Come to lab prepared and work quickly. Everything you have to do and know is detailed on Blackboard, just follow the written guidelines and her studyguides and the class is an easy A.
Make sure you watch the videos and know your stuff before each lab (allow 15-30 mins). And as long as you know the study guide, you should do well. Pretty easy, it's not hard at all and requires little actual thinking (though it requires a bit to time to memorize her material.)
Work hard, be prepared, and be polite and you will have no problems. She is very willing to help but may come off as stern. She mostly wants to see her students do as well as possible and learn a lot, which makes her one of the best professors I've had at Case.
The labs are way too long for the allotted time, forcing you to rush to finish. The exams are very difficult and test on obscure (and often irrelevant) material from the lecture slides. As for the prof, she's a piece of work - nasty to students and almost unapproachable. Watch out and avoid if possible...certainly one of Case's worst profs.
The fact that she's received so many bad reviews and at the same time many excellent reviews is an indication of the fact that she is a tough teacher, and will not concede to students asking for a break. Some kids don't like a tough teacher. Others just deal with it. I think her austerity is beneficial for students.
She is very willing to help or even chat with any student who is interested in chemistry. Her labs may be hard but they are the most interesting part of my week overall.
Awesome professor. Truly. Even though I don't go to the lectures, everything you need is on blackboard or media vision. Attendance to lab of course is mandatory...I typically put 3-5 hours into preparing for the lab/writing up the lab notebook. This class is more on technique than results so as long as you learn to manage your time, you're fine.
Very clear, encourages critical thinking and common sense in the lab, was extremely sweet and helpful whenever I spoke with her, lab quizzes were surprisingly challenging and were worth a lot, so bring your A-game to these!
The best Teacher in the world. She is awesome. I think she is amazing
Dr. Sri is a tough professor, but the reason many people find her difficult is because they don't do the work required. Another helpful tip is to talk to your TA, they are the ones giving you a grade, so speak up and and ask questions! Yes, tests are a large part of the grade, but this is college, so get used to it.
A wonderful teacher
Dr. Sri is tough but helpful. An A is totally doable if you try your hardest. Tests were easy if you knew the material.
Dr. Srinivasan was great, really helpful. I had her during the summer and you can definitely tell that she wants to teach during the regular school year.
Homework can be tedious and she tends to get so far ahead in material that trying to study the test material and keep up with the lectures becomes nigh impossible. You will need to study and do practice problems to succeed on the test, but her grading scale is very, very forgiving
Dr. Sri is great. You can tell that teaching is really her passion. She makes herself available outside of class for help, and is very approachable. the grading scale is very forgiving, and if you study for the tests, they aren't that difficult.
She is a wonderful person!!! If you get to know her she will help you do well!! One of the best profs Ive ever met!!
Dr. Sri is awesome. Her expectations are clear, her material is laid out well and is easy to understand, excellent communication between her and graders and the lab is interesting. Sometimes she dances in class. I liked her alot. One of the best lab teachers I have had.
Absolutely wonderful teacher. You can tell that she loves lab, and would always get super excited when her students got product. Made the rest of us excited to be in lab. Definitely recommend taking lab with her over the summer.
Dr. Sri is really great. She's not a fan of grade grubbing, like most profs, but she is willing to help you if you are borderline. She takes time to answer any and all of your questions no matter how dumb they may seem. And she's very proud of her students who visibly put effort into her class. She really cares about your overall performance.
Sri is literally the best. Orgo is HARD (do not procrastinate in any class) but she makes sure you understand it. She may be hard to talk to at first but when you get to know her you realize she really just wants you to do well. If you're lazy, she won't be that kind though. Go to office hours/ SI's. Do the homework and every problem in the book.
Dr Sri is AMAZING. she's not the best lecturer, but if you go to office hours you can easily see she knows her stuff. she's a genius. and you can tell that teaching is her passion. You will have to work hard, like every day, but an A is definitely possible
Be careful with this class. She is a nice lady and funny at times, but expects her students to study on there own for 3 hrs a day, 7 days a week. Homework can be long, around 70 questions, no make-ups. U have to put in a lot of time to do well. Go to office hours. She does make herself available, which is cool. Be prepared, you'll do great!
Really hard lecture but everybody loves Dr. Sri
Great lecturer but you have to work HARD for an A.
So maybe the stigma on OChem is true; maybe it is really, really hard. Maybe you are scared about taking this class. If so, let me tell you this, Dr. Sri is so amazing! Yes, the material is hard and yes you will have to work your ass off for an A, but it can be done. She is always there to help and wants her students to succeed! Don't be scared!
I did well in this course, but I can honestly say that I despise Dr. Sri as a teacher. I think that she is condescending and acts like she's all of our mothers. Yes, she is willing to help individual students and is good at it, but I do not think that she is engaging or a good lecturer.
Dr. Sri is a great professor. She's always ready to answer your questions and is always up to offer advice no matter your problem. Her teaching is crystal clear and is well reflected in her exams. Her course is difficult, but it's fair. All in all, she teaches very well and knows how to distinguish between being a professor and a mother figure.
Hard class, but she is always willing to help. Strict grading, but it's willing to fix legitimate errors. Pay attention in class, and do the practice problems in the book and you'll do fine. Start studying early the class can cover a lot of material.
Sri is incredible. Haters gonna hate, but she's the best.
A good professor, but expect to work. She's very willing to help and explain things, but you definitely have to self motivate and read the book to do well
She is amazing! She explains everything that are tricky and help us practice a lot. She is always willing to help and sometimes, she talks about some fun stuff in class to wake the students up. She is the best!
she is fantastic, the best professor i have had at case. getting an A is tough but if you work for it is possible. super funny, very clear in explaining. shes sweet in office hours and extremely helpful.
She loves chemistry and she loves her students and she wants them to do well. She's a great professor I really enjoyed taking this class (OChem1) and will take OChem2 (CHEM224) with her. Strict grading policy but also 85% is a A. If you do your reading the practice problems you will get in. 10% of our grade is based on homework, not difficult.
Dr. Sri is a great professor. She's really passionate about organic chemistry and made me interested in it as well. Every time I went in for office hours, she was willing to help and explain mechanisms. The class is tough but also fair. If you don't do the homework & read the book, you will have a hard time getting an A.
Great teacher, willing to help but tough class
So you made it to ochem! I don't think it's as bad as people say, jut be ready to put in work for an A, because you get out what you put into this course. Sri can be pretty funny, and I personally am a fan of her teaching style. Very helpful one on one during office hours, and would suggest you use them before they get clogged the week before tests
She was such an amazing professor. She can go a bit fast sometimes, but that's just because she has to cover so much material in a year. I love her style, she can be funny. She is also very straightforward with her expectations. Though some of her tests were hard, they were ALL fair.
Definitely recommend taking a class with Dr. Sri! Great professor and really cares about the subject matter and her students. Take the time to read the chapters and do the in chapter problems like she recommends and this class is doable. Attendance not required but very helpful, especially when she walks through multistep problem solving techniques
Dr. Sri understands what she's teaching, but she goes super fast during lecture. You won't have time to process or write down anything she says- you will have to go through the lectures outside of class. Possible to get As on the exam if you read the textbook, do the hw problems, and have access to the test bank for the textbook.
Dr. Sri is an excellent (in fact, one of my favorite) professors at Case. Not only does she successfully teaches the material, she also gives good advice to students (academic and non academic). Very fair and honest. One thing I learned after meeting with her: One's emotions and professional life just do not mix!
Acts nice enough, but can get surprisingly irritable and unpleasant at times. IDK how much she really wants to be a sages teacher, as the overall vibe she gave was pretty lackadaisical, and that rubbed off on the class during discussions. But she offers to help and gives decent feedback if you ask for it. Reasonable sages class
Dr. Sri is a very fair, caring professor. Although she gives lots of tedious, repetitive homework from the book, they will prepare you for her tests. Also, go to her office hours and SI sessions for more problems and clear explanation. Learning Ochem is like learning a new language, so make sure you are clear with basics of reactions nomenclature
Well set up class! Dr. Sri gives very clear lectures and if you do the homework, little other studying is required to do well. She is hilarious and is really helpful outside of class. Solutions manual to textbook is REALLY useful for understanding. One of my favorite professors at Case!!!
Ochems are hard. Sri gives good lectures and makes things pretty clear. Ready to spend lots of time to get a A.
Dr. Sri is a really great professor. If you put in the work and study as she advises, then you will have no problem with getting an A in the class. She taught me ochem so well that I did zero content review for ochem for the DAT and killed that section. Take advantage of the really wonderful way that she teaches you, b/c trust me, it'll pay off.
I enjoyed taking this course a lot! This was her first time teaching a gen. chem course -- apparently Dr. Sri had been more involved in research but turned her focus on teaching undergraduates recently. If you work on the HW problems (end of chapter problems on the textbook) and worksheets handed out in class, the exams won't be a challenge.
Tests are pretty easy if you actually understand the content, and chem 106 is mostly a review of AP Chem. However, she will ramble on about O Chem a lot and not teach you something you need as a result. I taught myself most of what I learned in this class by reading the book.
The grade is based off of 4 homework assignments and 4 tests. The tests are non-cumulative. Each of 45 points (+ bonus points, but max you can get is 45.) Test 1 and 2 aren't too bad. Test 3 is the hardest is basically the make or break for your grade. Test 4 isn't very hard. Each homework assignment is worth 5 points. Study everyday, do HW daily.
The exams aren't too difficult if you do all the homework problems. Start HW about 1.5 weeks ahead of test and you will be fine. It seems that you either get it and it is a pretty easy A or you don't get it and you really struggle. Recognizing the patterns in the questions correctly is important. It definitely wasn't as hard as people say it is.
Not a hard class at all. Tests are basically extension of homework. If you know it well, you'll do well on the tests. Didn't really do homework before the test and crammed for the exams and went to some problem solving sessions. Anyone can get an A if you use the right resources. 90% tests and 10% homework.
Make sure you read the text before class, that's how you'll get the most out of her lectures. Do the homework!!! give yourself plenty of time before the test to do the homework. tests are exactly like homework and her example problems from class. go to SI sessions, they teach you everything for problem solving in detail. hard class but do-able
She makes OChem not as difficult. I suggest doing a few problems of homework every day so you wont have to cram, as there is a lot of homework. Srinivasan offers lots of extra help outside of class and she explains the content well. Do the work to understand the material and youll get an A! (But also remember she curves!!!)
Dr. Sri's class is definitely not easy, but she is very passionate about the material she teaches! The tests are challenging, but fair. Each lecture is interesting and was essential to my understanding of the material. I highly recommend her classes, as she is engaging in class and truly wants her students to succeed.
Most time you have to take OChem, Prof Sri is a solid choice. Just put some time and it's an easy A. I sugget not to go to lecture, instead watch mediavision when you review for each test. Exams are never accumulated so just understand several chapters is easy.
She seems like a nice person but is very demanding. Unclear criteria for the test. Very disorganized. Would recommend taking the class with someone else if you have the choice.
I love Dr. Sri! I can't wait to take biochem with her next year. OChem is a hard class no matter who teaches it. She gives you everything you need to succeed, but you still have to work but its really not too bad. Definitely one of my favorite professors. If you have a choice, definitely take Sri for both levels of OChem.
Dr. Sri has an absolutely incredible knowledge of chemistry. She is a very fast paced lecturer, but also cares about you gaining a deep understanding of the material, rather than memorization, and her teaching style reflects that. Taking notes ahead of time will help, as will reading the chapters beforehand. Lectures then will be so interesting.
Dr. Sri is wonderful and she truly cares about her students. She does everything she can to set you up for success but ultimately you are the one who must do what you can (read the textbook, go over notes, do practice problems) to succeed in the course. Be prepared to work hard for this class but know that a good grade is 100% attainable
Dr. Sri is kind and funny, however she is a very tough grader. 160 out of the 200 points are based on tests, and the rest are participation in in-class activities and homework. She does not negotiate grades and it is quite difficult to get an A in this class, because if you miss more than an average of 5 points per exam, you will not get an A.
Dr. Sri is very nice and approachable. She has a lot of understanding regarding organic chemistry and can answer your questions fairly well. Her problems are her tests. You heavily rely on doing well on her tests. There are no extra assignments. Go to class, read the book, do the homework problems and you might be able to get an A, but barely.
Dr. Sri is so caring and always willing to help students. She understands that her class is difficult. Organic chemistry is hard, but Dr. Sri makes it a bit more straight-forward so that her students can understand. Doing the homework. class handouts , and office hours will prepare you very well for her exams.
I would definitely say her biochem course was hard. But would you ever expect a biochem class to be easy? Dr. Sri's lectures are brilliant, and you can expect to learn a lot from her lectures. She is also a very caring professor outside of her classes, which would definitely make her students feel comfortable. Simply an awesome teacher.
Dr. Sri is arguably one of the best professors I've had since coming to CWRU. I went from an awful experience in ochem 1 to doing really well in her class, because she takes the time to assign worksheets and has office hours / problem solving sessions so that we can make sure we understand the material. You can tell she cares about her students.
Dr. Sri is a wonderful person. She is inspirational and cares about her students a lot! She wants students to succeed in her class. You have to put in the work and do MANY practice problems from the textbook. But she makes it very clear what you should do to get a good grade. Exams test your skills, not useless memorization of facts.
Sri is very enthusiastic about orgo and it makes it easier to learn. She genuinely wants her students to succeed. She is knowledgeable, organized, and probably the best professor I could have learned orgo from. She's so sweet and adorable during the lectures. Overall 10/10, I love her.
Dr. Sri is very knowledgable and passionate in chemistry. Her class is hard, but if you put in the time, you will do well. She covers almost everything in the textbook, so I highly recommend doing the reading. Tests are harder than you would expect, so be sure to do a lot of practice problems.
Dr. Sri is both an amazing person and a professor. Her passion for chemistry radiates during lectures and during office hours, and she wants you to do well in the class. She is understanding of student's situations esp. during this time of COVID. Make sure you do everything she asks you to do- 10 HWs, textbook probs, etc, and you will do well.
Amazing and very understanding. She will give you opportunity to get the grade you deserve if you are borderline. Do all of the 10 HWs, textbk problems and attend her prob-solving sessions and you will survive. Test problems are similar problems in textbk, so do the most you can. Pls reach out to her if you are stuggling, she's so kind and helpful
Dr. Sri is a very caring person. She formatted an online Biochem course well- watch lectures on our own time + do POGILS during class. Although I found a few of the lectures hard to follow, I still felt like I got a lot out of this course. Get ready though- this class is hard and the subject can be dry. Theres a ton to memorize and then apply.
I really enjoyed this biochem class! It was less memorization heavy than I expected and she really wanted us to understand the core concepts rather than just regurgitate facts. If you don't plan on going into biochem in the future this gives a good enough foundation for pre health students
Last semester, it is super hard to meet with her due to the lack of office hours, and never replied to students. Her tests were much harder than what she put on the homework or lectures' problem-solving. I cannot believe I survive her first ochem course. She made ochem harder than ever
Is she good at explaining concepts? Yes. Is she understanding or caring or a good teacher otherwise? No. If you are not willing to give your soul to her class, don't bother taking it. Honestly I get why she has so many good reviews, but if you are anything short of her idea of a good student, she will kill your GPA and will to continue in science.
Dr. Sri is a phenomenal teacher and really cares for her students. Her lectures are quite fun to attend if you are actively learning. You will do well in her class if you put time and effort into doing the textbook practice problems. Organic chem is supposed to be hard and I really couldn't ask for a better professor to take it with.
She is a great person and is nice but her lectures always leave me more confused than anything else. She expects us to pick up on material right away and if you ask questions sometimes she acts as if you should have known the answer already. Homework heavy if you want to actually understand what she is attempting to lecture.
Dr. Sri is a wonderful teacher and person. Orgo is known to be very difficult but the way she teaches makes it extremely comprehensible. It's easy to fall behind so students have to be accountable for staying on top of lectures. Office Hours are really helpful. Her exams test on content you need to know, not random memorization. She loves teaching!
Ochem is hard, but Dr. Sri makes it very clear what she expects you to know before an exam. Lectures are definitely optional, but make sure you do every problem in the textbook and find outside practice if you want to do well in her class. She also gives a grade bump if you're borderline and put in the effort.
Dr. Sri truly showed herself to be a great teacher this year that values feedback to changed her entire course structure to benefit students. Dr. Sri is Awesome! She is such a great teacher when it comes to her extremely in-depth knowledge of ochem and her way of not just re-reading the slides but giving examples w/in class. office hours helpful!
Taking organic chemistry during the summer was probably one of the hardest things that I have done but taking it with Dr. Sri was worth it. The class is in no way easy but she makes it fun and interesting. I was originally planning on doing only chem 223 but after taking that course with her I had to take the second sequence with her as well.
I took this course over the summer so it was pretty rushed and intense. Dr. Sri is an amazing professor and does everything to help her students succeed. I highly recommend listening to her and creating a reaction notebook- it will really come in handy. Do the hw, study the reactions/reagents, do the problems she has in class and you'll do decently
Nice woman. HARD CLASS
Solid teacher. Big on details. I had her for ochem too and I got As in all her classes. Skimming the textbook and going over slides (like go through them a few times to study for the test) made me golden. I took this instead of biochem307 and it prepared me really well for MCAT and i didnt have to go to class 4 times a week.
Dr. Sri is an awful teacher and doesnt care about her students. She is often condescending and rushes through problems in class. Many people are forced to take pictures because she doesnt give any time to copy down or solve the problems. She expects students to watch hour- long lecture videos three times a week on top of the homework. RUN AWAY!
I have had Dr. Sri for three semesters, and I absolutely love her teaching style! Her exams are designed to make you critically think and apply your knowledge, but the questions are not ridiculous as she often discusses the answers during class or it is in the lectures. Focus on what she emphasizes, ask questions to clarify, and you will do great!
Great and caring prof. Horrifically difficult class.
If you don't watch the lecture videos before class, just don't go to classroom as you won't understand anything. You can learn about 95% of the contents by watching lecture videos and doing practice problems on your own. She explains concepts clearly. Hard class, and be prepared to work hard to get a good grade.
Dr. Sri is an excellent professor in terms of teaching and delivering content. She is an expert on ochem and can pretty much explain all concepts clearly. Chem 224 is a hard class in general and so be prepared to read, do practice problems, ask questions, and study study study. An A is 100% achievable.
CHEM 223 and CHEM 224 are hard classes, it's just the nature of the material! However, if you are willing to commit to these classes, they are more than manageable. Staying on track of material, ideally covering it the weekend before learning it in class was the most successful way to understand what was going on. Also practice, practice, practice!
Dr Sri is a caring and compassionate professor, who truly cares about her students. She is an engaging lecturer and provides clear feedback. It is important to participate in her class, keep up a reaction book, and do the practice problems and homework. Simply memorizing the information will not help you, she expects you to be able to apply it.
I've been in Dr. Sri's classes twice, once as a student in 328, and once as a TA in 223. Her exams are very straightforward, with at least 90% of the questions based almost solely on notes provided in class, while having a few more applied questions. She is also a very caring professor, being almost able to remember all her students.
One of the worst professors I have ever had. Sri does not care about her students at ALL. She does not seem to understand that not everyone is naturally gifted at chemistry. Even worse, if you ask a question in class that she thinks is 'stupid' she will humiliate you in front of the whole 300+ person class. Apathetic, condescending, and rude.
Sri is a horrible teacher. Her class is catered towards those who are good at chemistry and she is extremely unhelpful if you need any extra help. Genuinely one of the least caring people I have ever met. She has made me hate chemistry.
The material of this class was so poorly organized that it made it actively harder to learn. The Professor is rude to students unnecessarily and on occasion even publicly in front of the whole class. She fosters a toxic environment in her classroom.
Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go to class/watch lecture if you don't want to fail. Exams can be difficult, but she's a fair grader and you are able to do well if you put in the work (and you need to put in the work)
Dr. Sri is an excellent professor. She makes a notoriously difficult subject doable, but you definitely need to put in the effort. She makes herself available outside class time during office hours even though there are 200+ people in the class. It's clear that she genuinely cares about her students.
Dr. Sri is genuinely an amazing professor of a course which most students are taught to fear. Her tests are manageable and reflect the material that she teaches you in her lectures and the textbook which can easily be found online for free.
Extremely condensing and toxic professor. Doesn't respond to student feedback and calls out students for asking "dumb" questions. First exam was a major struggle for many students despite her saying it was the "easiest exam given in years". Lectures were utterly confusing and redundant. Probably after this semester it's bye bye pre med for me.
Dr. Sri is challenging but she is the fairest professor out there. You get out of the course what you put in it. If you don't do the assigned practice and lecture videos the effort will show on the exams. She is sweet and open to helping you succeed in her course. Grade is based on very little (4 exams and 11 HW) so its imperative you do well.
It's a very tough class; however, Dr. Sri will provide you with the materials to succeed. She is a top notch lecturer (one of the best at cwru) and I like the approach of the flipped classroom. Class is mostly hinged on tests so make sure you are on top of your game She does not take slaking off well, but if you are struggling she will help you.
I love Sri!
I have taken the entire ochem to biochem sequence with Dr. Sri. She is one of the best and most caring professors I have had. While the class is a lot of work she essentially tells you exactly what you need to do to get an A. If you put in the work and genuinely engage with these classes they are both incredibly rewarding and straightforward.
I mainly self studied to do alright on the exams. Dr. Sri is nice but her teaching style didn't click with me too well. I found it difficult to follow along with her in lecture. I often fell behind, which is why I had to rely on the textbook. The molecular models kit was helpful as it allowed me to visualize the complex 3D shapes of molecules.
Very caring teacher. Worksheets can help prepare for exam. Important to connect concepts from multiple chapters in order to do well.
If you're looking to drop your GPA, study all week long, and feel terrible about yourself, this is the class for you.
Sri is solid choice for Orgo. Pretty good at explaining topics and I liked her method of doing a lot of practice problems. Tests are moderate in the difficulty rating (neither easy nor hard) kinda in between. If you study all the material she gives you you should be set to do well on exams. No surprises here. Tbh most ppl who do bad don't study
Dr. Sri is amazing, she will help you out if you go to office hours. The class is tough but thats how its always going to be with orgo. The one thing I would say is that I think exams should be out of 100 points instead of 50 because currently, it is only a 250-point class so if you miss more than 25 points you're at a B.
Dr. Sri is an awesome teacher with a "tough mother" vibe, which can be polarizing. She's strict with grading policies, but she'll also give homecooked food and life advice during office hours. As for the course, lecture videos are clear while homework and other worksheets are great practice. If you earnestly do these, her tests will be a breeze.
Never thought I would struggle so much in a class. Dr. Sri expects each one of her students to spend 20+h/week on ochem. If you can do this, shes a good prof. Not sure about others, but I got no partial credit on tests, which were graded very harshly. Also she promised grade bumps for some things but changed her mind AFTER the last exam was graded.
The teaching was fine, but I was not a fan of the "reverse classroom" format where lectures were in video format. If you get behind at all, it's extremely difficult to catch up again in the course, just generally unforgiving. Course was decent if you are premed or bio related major but the class was extremely difficult as an engineering major.
Dr. Sri is one of the greatest professors at this campus. If you plan to take orgo, take it with her! 5 star prof all the way!
The class itself is not that bad as long as you put in effort throughout the whole semester to learn the concepts and mechanisms. I feel like Dr. Sri didn't really add much to help me learn the material, as I didn't attend class for most of the semester and still did fine. I think she gives out some good tips, but not really time efficient imo.
Took Dr. Sri's ochem class this fall semester, and looking back, she was really good. She acknowledges that the class is hard and you need to put in the work for the grade, and she is very fair and explains concepts pretty well. I think her reverse classroom style actually works for a class like this, and the problem sets in class are very helpful.
Makes a tough class doable and interesting. She can come off as strict but she is really a nice person and wants everyone to do well. High quality teaching from her end too. Wont give you an A/B if you don't deserve it, but if you put in the work you can do well. Overall highly recommend taking a class with her
The class is tough but she is a great professor and really cares and will work with you to make sure you understand the material if you ask for help.
Easy class. Took minimal effort and studying.
Professor Srinivasan was by far one of the nicest and easiest professors I have ever had at CWRU. If you want an easy A ochem class, this is the way to go.
Srinivasan is pretty chill. Grading straightforwardly set and lots of extra credit. Lectures are engaging and very organized.
I didn't think ochem was a hard class, but sri was a mean person.
Dr. Srinivasan is the best professor I've had at this university. I was terrified going into Orgo as chemistry was a subject that I always struggled with, but she was super encouraging and gave me confidence to overcome my fear. Her classes were not easy, but she went above and beyond to give me the resources and guidance to succeed.
One of my favorite teachers of all time. Ochem is hard, but Sri makes it enjoyable and is extremely supportive of her students. She provides many resources, has tons of office hours, and wants you to succeed. I can't wait to take Biochem with her next semester
I will be getting the first B of my college career in my class. Regardless of my disappointment, I have to admit that the grade is due to my own inadequacies. Sri is a respectable person and professor who cares deeply. Fair tests. Office hours are available daily. She expects dedication and maturity from students. She is a no-nonsense professor.
Dr. Sri is the best professor I've had. I definitely learned better in flipped classroom 1st sem as opposed to regular 2nd sem. However, I have never felt so rooted for by a professor in my life. She will give you every resource available. If you go to office hours, SI sessions, and do EVERY problem she gives you, the tests are very straighforward!
Dr. Sri is one of the best professors I've had. Her class is difficult because organic chemistry is often difficult to grasp, as mastery only comes with practice, along with some memorization. However, if students put in the work and do all the work she suggests (bookwork, practice problems), organic chemistry turns out to be quite enjoyable.
Just take 323. I would not recommend this professor. She made me dislike a subject I have loved my whole life. If you're worried about the MCAT, just chill out. The actual MCAT itself only has a couple organic chemistry questions and its not worth subjecting yourself to a year's worth of unnecessary stress that she gives.
Dr. Sri really loves to teach and that shines through in her lectures and her interaction with students at office hours. If you put in the work to study ochem and take advantage of the resources that are provided to you, the test are not overly difficult. Often the in-class problems that she gives are more difficult than exam questions.
Dr. Sri is very accessible outside of class for office hours. Had about 10 homework assignments throughout the semester, which added up to an easy 75 points by the end of the semester. Don't fall behind!!! Her class is tough, but that's generally the case with orgo. She's a very nice woman, and a lot of students have a very positive opinion of her.
I'm really glad that I'm taking CHEM328 during the summer with Dr. Sri. She genuinely wants to help students learn and understand the material and will go above and beyond for student success. The class is fast paced, so don't fall behind the videos. However, if you put in the right amount effort getting an A is pretty easy.
I loved Doctor Sri's class because of how inspirational she is. Her attitude made me want to learn better. She sets her students up for success and truly wants the best for them academically. She also explains how to do well on each test. So ACTUALLY listen to her tips and practice the textbook problems. It will be worth it and YOU WILL BE OKAY!
Reverse classroom was an excuse for her to use the lecture videos during Covid. Going to class did not add much value and the overall structure was flawed. Also makes fun of students for misspelling words on rate my professor.
Professor Srinivasan's Organic Chemistry class was frustrating. The tests rarely reflected what was taught in lectures, leaving students unprepared. There was noticeable favoritism in the classroom which created a divisive and toxic atmosphere among students. Her teaching methods include reverse classroom that need a serious review.
Orgo is a difficult class in general, but Sri does an amazing job teaching it. She gives a lot of opt. practice problems and weekly HW to prepare you. Do all the problems, start early, and stay on top of everything! Her tests are hard and she gives little ec. The other chem class is supposedly easier, but Sri helps prepare you for the MCAT/DAT.
do all the practice problems and pay attention to small details when you're doing them. even when it's resonance and you think you know it from chem 106. also the reaction notebook is so helpful
Sri's biochem class is much more straightforward than ochem. A lot of the grade is made up of pogils ( group worksheets) and you can drop an exam.
Having taken both CHEM323 with Liang and CHEM224 with Sri as a Biomedical Engineering major who wants to pursue med school, I can confidently say that Sri's class will prepare you much better for the MCAT. She is tough but thorough. If you don't plan to attend med school don't take her class as there are easier but less thorough alternatives.
She's an okay teacher. The class is lecture-heavy. I had unforeseen circumstances and she worked with me though, very lenient. Her method of teaching just did not click with me though, I struggled a lot. Tests are hit to miss, some are super difficult and some aren't, I think it depends on how nice she's feeling when she makes it. Overall okay.
Sri is certainly a nice person and is passionate about chemistry. She is not passionate about Biochem and I could tell when taking her class. Combine that with basically no in person lectures (they were all pre recorded) and I felt she really did not care about teaching us. She may be good for orgo, but biochem is a terrible experience.
Something about Dr. Sri rubs me the wrong way. I never had her for orgo, but in biochem she would make you feel dumb for making mistakes or not understanding the material. On top of being a flipped classroom (which sucks, the videos are 45+ minutes long), her exams are different formats each time and are super tough. Don't recommend at all.
Orgo can be tough, but Srinivasan tries to help. Do practice problems and use the reaction notebook - it's super useful. Unstuck ai was a lifesaver for prep too. Tests are challenging, but attendance helps.
nomskxasods dndw
Professor prepared students well but ended their med school careers with exam 3!
I would recommend biochem with the other professor. Likely more straightforward. In the past, she had a drop a test policy, and not only did she get rid of that this year but she also added additional material. Tests are arbitrary and she loves to ask orgo questions and odd questions that don't align well with the content she's emphasized.
Dr. Sri is very nice, understanding, and caring. She will take the time to really make sure you understand concepts and help you out with open arms if you consistently show up and show that you are interested in learning. Get as many points as you can on exams 1 and 2 because 3 and 4 are much more difficult. Do all HW. It really helps.
This class is very simple as long as you have common sense. Don't waste time watching the videos and just go to class and read the textbook. Also, make sure you do well on the first two exams. She puts brain rot on the 3rd exam and it drops everyone's grades a lot. Also going to the SI sessions is lowkey jobless unless Amol is there.
Sri loves ochem and is enthusiastic about it, but she is not respectful to struggling students. In office hours if you ask questions she thinks are stupid or easy, she shames you and makes you feel terrible. ochem is already hard and she worsens it by making you feel incapable and dumb, which hurt my grade even more:) she rly has to learn respect
amazing prof who is passionate & has a sense of humor. if you did well in 105 & 106, u should have no problem in orgo. class picks up in difficulty in the second half when you start reaction mechs. tests are fair (a little easy imo). u can easily tell if ur screwed for a test before u take it. if you get a B, its because you didnt try hard enough.
If you literally just lock in and go to lecture and do the homework and keep up with the class, you should have no problem getting an A or B in this class. Sri is an amazing and wonderful professor. She is truly Mama Sri. She will scold you for not putting in the work and she holds everyone to high standards. I don't think it gets better than this.
Sri Good. Yes.
sri is a good lecturer but holds her students to VERY high expectations. as a professor, mean for no reason at all. would not curve even after the class average for exam 3 was a D... won't bump up your grade if she doesn't like your notes, which she'll check to see if you "deserve" the boost or not. stubborn & unyielding.
Dr. Sri is an excellent professor, I personally really dislike the flipped classroom format but her lectures are super useful if you come and pay attention. People don't like her because she is very unforgiving, She doesn't like students who feel entitled to a grade they didn't earn. Don't slack off on the homework and come to class & you'll be ok.
Sri is the kick in the pants many pre-meds need. She wants you to succeed and wants to get you there, and will call you out if you're slacking off. Moderate to heavy workload, but this is the first class there was no busy work-everything Sri assigns helped me master the course material. There is a reason most of her students have little mcat review
Dr Sri is honestly a good prof. Gives ample amounts of practice for her students to succeed. Recommend watching her videos as well as doing some of the book problems as it goes through everything on the exam. Don't need to attend class, but it is good if you need more practice with the content and if you want to get rounded up at end of year.
I actually hated this class so much. Flipped classroom is pure brain rot, and she always makes 15/75 points on the exam on some stuff that literally never showed up in any of the practice she gives you. Also, I'm Indian myself, and her accent irritated me so much by the end of the semester. Just do the SI sheets and ur fine.
I personally enjoyed her class and felt I had a very solid understanding of orgo at the end of the semester. However, I heard that someone in the class got a C rounded to a B even though they were like 4-5% away from a 79.0% just because they were friendly with Sri and begged for a B at the end. The person might be lying but crazy if true.
Take it with Liang. Not worth the stress. She is rude during office hours and doesn't care even if you show you're willing to learn. I tried really hard and she discouraged me so much with her constant canvas announcement intimidation and grading errors (exams are frequently totalled incorrectly by 20+ pts and not passed back until 3+ weeks later).
223 is flipped which means going to class was not super helpful. She does practice problems but either spends 30 mins on one question or does 5 in 10 mins and doesn't explain them at all. She's rude and discouraging and cares more about seeming funny than actually teaching content. Read the textbook to prepare for exams and do practice problems.
A lot of people complain about Sri, but it's usually the ones who expect an A without actually doing work. Orgo is a tough class, but she has solid lectures and gives tons of practice problems. She's also super accessible outside of class and prepares you well for MCAT. If you're too entitled to put in effort, don't bother taking her class.
Dr. Sri is an amazing lecturer. The way ochem 1 is structured is perfect to give students the best understanding of course material. Flipped classroom allowed her to go through practice problems in class, which showed you how to think about ochem outside of memorization, which was one of the only reasons I did well in this class.
awful class that totally broke so many spirits. Take with the other teacher if you can. So much content in such a short time and very little ways to practice it. She expected way too much. Office hours are totally useless and she's condescending.
A grounded angel. Whether you are in the ground is up to you.
Angel on earth
Great teacher for organic chem! This is a difficult class so you do need to put in a lot of work, but ochem is fun and Dr. Sri is supportive!
what a queen
Chem 224 was so easy that even the SIs stopped caring. Take notes and do the textbook problems that she provides and getting a good grade should be very attainable.
While Sri is a great prof, the way to do well in her class is not to study, but to fake an illness and take the makeup exam, as she literally changes NOTHING. Just schedule an appt with the clinic in person, say you aren't feeling well, and send the letter and retake the exam. She doesn't change anything, so it's a guaranteed 100%
When I first started in Orgo 1 I did not have the best opinion of Sri. Sri really does hold you to a different accountability. You might not be good at Orgo, but in order to do well in her class you need to study consistently. You might not love Sri, but give respect where it is due because she genuinely cares and wants to help you which is rare.
Rekha is a very fair and reasonable teacher, who I think actually teaches ochem very well. She will challenge you in class, but make the exams very fair, that are easy as long as you literally just do the problems that she assigns. People that complain about difficulty are just not meant for careers in medicine, or other STEM related fields.
Once again lets be honest here. Sri doesn't value hard work sometimes - I am just disappointed. She is probably just going to round people all the way to an A just like last year even if you don't have to work that much. What is the point of doing the work if she is just going to round people she likes anyways. Sometimes their grades not even close
Great professor- knows how to run an organized ochem class. Orgo 2 is a breeze once you learn that all you need to do is every practice problem you can get your hands on. It feels like a lot at first but usually only is like 15 problems per day, but every single day. Stay on top of it and it will be easy to get an A.
This class is so easy, that you don't even need to study. She tries to tell you that the exam will be hard, but then just makes it resemble the homework. All you really need to do before the exam are the homework and then 1 or 2 SI sheets. Don't let her fear you, she never makes the exams that difficult. They are just copies of the hw.
This class is super easy. She will give you really hard multistep and mechanisms but none of that shows up on the exam. Just do the homework and you are fine.
By far the easiest chem class I've taken at CWRU. Take the makeup if you can, literally just a carbon copy of the actual exam. Also, you don't really need to study for exams, just pay attention in class and you are good.
Overall, I think ochem is a very difficult course and is a weed out for premeds at any institution. However, Sri tries to make it as engaging as possible. Flipped classroom in chem223 was the worst because of how many videos we have to watch before class. I did better in chem224.
Absolute sweetest lady ever. Study your butt off for this course and you're gonna be fine. She gives very fair exams (if not on the easier side) and doesn't pull anything out of thin air. Everything was covered on lecture slides. One hw assignment/week, 4 exams with no final. Study. study. study. study. Put in the work and you'll get the grade
This class is such a joke. She tries to scare you by saying that the exam will be hard, and its so easy. Its just a carbon copy of the homework and the SI sheets. Also take the makeup if you can, its literally the exact same, so you can get a 100%, just by knowing what the harder questions are. Class is a guaranteed A, don't be scared!
Sri is a very competent professor. She teaches in an organized manner that is easy to follow. Do the in chapter problems by yourself ahead of time, then go to class to get on same page with her. This way, you are guaranteed to get an A with less stress. Do not wait until the last minute to cram practice problems, it doesn't work.
For a class with a brutal reputation, Dr. Sri makes ochem understandable. She provides the resources you need to succeed, and whether you take advantage of them are up to you. Exams are easier than textbook and assigned homeworks. Exam 1 is CHEM106 review and exam 2 is 50% review. Don't fall behind and you'll be fine.
Let me start off the reviews after Exam 3! She was great for the first two exams, and then our third exam was, apparently, the lowest average she's ever had and refused to curve, saying this it was OUR work ethic that got us here. I think barely anyone in this course has an A now and I resent her for it.
Does she not realize that most people taking this class are premed? And how a single exam, Exam 3, will ruin some people's GPAs? Yes, organic chemistry is difficult but this exam was more about weeding out than testing our grasp on the content. And she says it's because we didn't try. Seriously? And on top of that there is no curve or points.
Exam 3 had the most difficult topics- and she definitely did warn us about that. However, after a class of 600 students got a VERY LOW average, she proceeded to blame us rather than reflecting. We could have prepared better, but she said that nobody except a few worked hard- how is that possible? to completely blame our work ethic is insane.
teaches relatively well but just goes a little too fast in lecture. need to review her old videos either before or after class to fully understand material. hw is hard but its pretty much completion and the exams are easier than hw and textbook problems. doesn't curve. kinda funny sometimes. exam 3 was bad but it's possible to do good
The last exam was unusually difficult and didn't reflect what was taught. Many hardworking students left feeling discouraged and demoralized. A fair test should measure learning, not overwhelm those who prepared. I hope future exams better match the course material.
The exam was far harder than anything taught, showing how poorly the class was taught. Even the most hardworking students felt defeated. This reflects a serious failure in teaching. Future students deserve clearer instruction and fair, reasonable exams.
Many people are complaining about E3 (avg = high 60s), but the avg for E2 was high 80s. That averages to high 70s. I don't see a problem with that. She is very accessible with office hours, explains things well in lecture, and provides a sufficient number of practice problems. Exams are very fair - everything on them is taught in lecture.
There's a significant gap between class teaching and the test content, particularly Test3. Assessments didn't feel reflective of what was taught . This can be demotivating for hard working students. Professor has previously offered grade improvement opportunities and hope she continues and 4th exam will be more inline with what was taught in class.
Ochem is known as a weed-out class as well as one of the hardest classes. Dr. Sri makes it easy to learn and teaches what exactly she expects to see on the test. Her tests are not particularly easy but fairly assessed. I understand people are frustrated with their score, but I truly don't think it's the fault of the professor in this case.
Everyone that isn't doing well in her class is soft and lazy. She gives you everything you need to succeed and is a great lecturer. Just rewatch lectures and spam practice problems and you are guaranteed an A. If you study hard (a week out) and really put in the work an A is very attainable.
Dr Sri is one of the fairest and best professors I've ever had. The exams are difficult, but fair, and if you follow her instructions on how to do well in the course, you will do well. She provides countless resources and is honest from the get go that hard work is necessary to do well, and also explains and presents material well, just quickly.
Look, ochem is hard, there's no way around it. I spent more time doing work for this class than for any other class, but given the subject, I think Dr. Sri did a good job. She provides you with many resources and sets clear expectations about exams. I also appreciated the curve on the first two exams to help pad grades for harder tests later.
Dr. Sri provides students many resources to succeed in her class. She is the best teacher I have had at Case Western and I enjoyed working hard for this class. That being said, if you copy the homework and study a few days before the exam sorry you won't get the grade you want. Not Dr. Sri's fault but your own so maybe study a little harder! :)
I took the class last year and she was one of the best professors I have taken at Case. She cares a lot about her students and gives a lot off opportunities to do good. Do NOT LISTEN to the other students if you are willing to put in the work!!!!
This class was one of the best experiences I've had at Case- the environment is collaborative, and she finds a way to promote critical thinking, stressing the importance of problem solving beyond the objective of "getting an A", but encourages her students, knowing that many of us have the goal to become competent physicians (& exams are clear).
Dr. Sri is one of the best professors I have had at Case. She is very clear of how to succeed in her class and it is just as simple as putting in the work. If you're lazy you won't succeed, it's just the facts. Orgo is a class in general that needs a lot of work to be put in to do well. I would not want my future doctor leaving these comments...
Dr. Sri is a great professor, she lays out her exam expectations clearly and says that if you read the textbook and do the problems she assigns you will do good on the exam. Orgo is a hard class to begin with, but if you're willing to put in the work you will do fine
Go to every class. Go to office hours and just do all the hw problems right there in front of her so there will be no dispute that you put in adequate work at the end of the semester if you need your grade bumped up. She's reasonable, and fair IF you do all the assigned practice problems (SAVE THEM ALL IN A NOTEBOOK TO SHOW HER IF NEEDED).
People just pissy cuz the course ruined their 4.0 gpa. The course is tuff and test heavy but she's extremely fair and test expectations are clear. You get the grade you deserve and that's that. Stop blaming others just cuz you're not used to getting anything below an A
Sri lectures well and makes her expectations very clear. Do the HW and practices and she will usually bump your grade or give extra credit. People who dog on her just can't accept that fact that they aren't given As just for studying and doing work. The class averages here are much higher than orgo at other universities.
I had to drop this class because I was at a D but let me say this clearly orgo is HARD it's not Sri the problem! She is a powerhouse honest, sharp, and the kind of prof who refuses to coddle you because she genuinely wants you to rise to the challenge. She is truly inspiring and I did end up retaking the class and passing
I took ochem 1,2 and biochem with Dr. Sri. super fair classes, an abundance of study material (textbook, office hours, hw, SI sessions, etc). the content isn't easy, but dr. sri supplies you with the info and support needed to do well in the class if you take advantage of it! also, knew ochem/biochem well for mcat!
It was a hard class and it rly did take a lot of focus. If you have struggled in the past I would take bio 216 in the spring and have this class be your hard class in the fall. The few times I did go to office hours she was nice and encouraging but she gave us multiple warnings that this was a hard class so I think she is fair.
Dr. Sri is a strong teacher. Yes, her class is tough, but so is the subject. I respect how she pushes us to learn in an organized way and makes organic chemistry more manageable. Just study the slides do problems. Comments about her appearance are beyond unacceptable, she shows up for us even when sick, and her dedication deserves a lot of respect.
You can say whatever you want about her personality, but commenting on someone's physical appearance is abhorrent behavior from people that are entering a career path of helping others in health. Sri is a fantastic professor who gives you everything you need to succeed. The reality is if you don't do well, that's on you.
While exam 3 was unfortunate, Sri is an extremely proficient professor with an abundance of course materials and resources at your disposal. The course is challenging simply because of the content itself. If you are a diligent student who puts in effort EVERY week and goes to office hours an A is attainable. Be sure to stay on top the content!
I am a certified ochem hater, it is a REALLY hard class, BUT Dr. Sri is a GOOD professor. She offers TONS of resources to help students succeed (HW is completion-based, extra credit, some of the tests had extra points, office hours, TONS of practice problems, extra videos, etc). I think she sometimes forgets how dumb we are, but she is kind.
Dr. Sri is one of the best professors I have had at Case. She is a wonderful person who truly cares about you succeeding. Her class is hard I won't lie, but by taking it you leave with a solid basis of organic chemistry that will set you up for success down the line. I highly recommend taking any class you can with her.
Dr. Sri is definitely the best "pre-med" teacher; she seems to be the only one who understands what she is teaching and makes all of the information understandable. There is never-ending practice for this class, and if you actually put in the work to attempt every problem and acknowledge what you're stuck on and don't remember, you will do great.
Dr. Sri is a great professor, material is hard, but her lectures cover the material in an intuitive way. She is also very caring. I slipped on ice before a midterm and shattered my writing wrist. This was tough for me physically and financially. She sympathized with my situation and allowed me to take the test three weeks later, after I recovered.
she's ok. tough grading and tough class but thats what its meant to be. In terms of actual teaching her lectures are very relevant to exams.
Dr Sri is a legend. To address the elephant in the room, this class is hard. orgo is hard, but she does her best to break it down and help My inability to get an A had nothing to do with the quality of her teaching, it was due to me not setting aside enough time in the latter half. At no point did I feel expectations were unclear, or unreasonable
Such an amazing professor at teaching ochem. It's my favorite subject now. People complain that she is hard but if you actually study she is very helpful and understanding
Ochem is hard. DO NOT blame Sri.Sri takes a notoriously challenging subject and presents it in a very systematic way. Theres an insane amount of practice problems. Its lowk impossible to even do all of them. Laziness is the only thing stopping you from getting an A. Dr. Sri wants you to succeed but people expect her to spoon feed you. Grow up.
If you go into this class expecting an easy A, you are in for a rude awakening. Ochem is a difficult class, not necessarily at fault of the professor, but because that's the nature of the subject. Dr. Sri will do everything to set you up for success, but she makes it clear she won't coddle you. If you have a problem with that, maybe rethink STEM.
Dr. Sri is truly a great professor. She helped me so much in this course, and was always available to help students out. She clearly wants her students to succeed, and wants the best for them. For those who are blaming her, YOU didn't put in the work. Do not blame the professor for your lack of preparation. Ochem is hard; practice everyday.
Genuinely can't stand people attacking her in this feed. Dr.Sri is the best chem teacher I've ever had. Her tests are very straightforward and easy compared to homework. As long as you do a lot of practice problems, your reaction notebook, and watch videos to understand the concepts you don't get at first, you will do very very good in this class
Make sure you don't cram the day before the tests, that is where most people go wrong in this class.
Dr. Sri is an amazing professor regardless of what other students say. She is very knowledgeable in course content and makes it very clear to know what you have to do to master the material and be prepared for the test. She is caring and very helpful in office hours, Her lectures are fast but very informative. Definitely would take again!
She's straight up a good professor. Everyone who says that she's bad is just used to the Case grade inflation and being able to do literally nothing to get by. Spoiler alert, you'll have to study, it's organic chemistry. But Sri doesn't want to ruin your life and if you do the work she assigns you'll be fine (seriously, do the textbook problems!)
mediocre prof with a small cult of devotees. i will say her teaching methods aren't that bad. its basically everything else- the pettiness, the reading of people's names, the retaliation against bad ratings, the insults during office hours... there are many things that make a good prof apart from knowing your subject
Said I had a brain problem and not an Orgo problem during office hours when I went for help and I almost started crying in the room. Fosters a culture of hatred and polarization rarely seen within classrooms. I had a little sympathy when ppl called her mean things on here, but I can see she deserves all of it. Now I get to take her next semester...
Lectures are useless past Exam 2. What she teaches does not prepare you at all for her exams. Better off self teaching from the textbook and skipping her lectures entirely. Beware of exam 3 as the average is close to a 55%.
She is not a good professor. You have to do a lot of self studying for this class as her lectures are not very helpful. The average for exam 3 was very low and there wasn't any curve. If you can, become a chemistry/chemical biology major and save yourself from this class. It isn't worth it.
Everyone's just giving her good reviews because she called out these reviews in class. But simply put, her teaching style is subpar at best. She isn't all that and especially not as great as what people are making her out to be.
I took Sri, then dropped, then took Liang, and I got an A. Please take Liang, be a chem major if you have to, he will prepare you for the MCAT and honestly he is just a sweet dude. Sri, well.... see I feel like if she could understand that people have lives outside of her class, she wouldn't be so terrible. Whatever passion she had is long gone.
For my learning style at least, her lectures were very helpful. For example, I felt like it was much easier to understand the mechanisms when she taught them vs the textbook. Her exams are fair, as long as you do ALL (or at least most) of the HW. Exam problems are very similar to the HW and what's done in class. If you work hard, you'll get an A/B
She's amazing and genuinely such a good professor. 30 pts of bonus questions is not something other ochem students get at other universities, and her homework is a great cushion. Dr Sri cares, and if you keep up, plan ahead (get ahead on lecture for unit 8 as soon as the first exam is over) and you will be right as rain. Don't be mean to her.
Incredibly fair professor with clear and reasonable expectations for the tests, especially for a class like Ochem. Do the homework, pay attention in class, and do the end of chapter problems and you'll be fine.
sri is acc the best orgo prof. anyone who complains abt the class did not do the textbook problems like she says to do, and if they had they would've done a lot better in the class. actually.
orgo's a weed out class, but sri presents the material in an approachable way and provides so many practice problems it's impossible to do them all. people hate on her because they're doing bad in the class. her exams are fair. put in the work and u'll get a good grade. not getting a good grade is a reflection of ur work, not sri's teaching.
One of the better professors Ive had. If you put in the effort and do practice problems, you will be fine. She tells you exactly what will be on the exam. The people complaining about her are the people who think good grades will just come to them.
At Case, Dr. Sri is only of the few professors who has a clear burning passion for teaching students and helping them learn. Dr. Sri is definitely direct in how she gives feedback, but I appreciate that she's honest and doesn't waste time. Ochem is a difficult and time-consuming subject but if you do everything Dr. Sri advises, you'll do great.
Dr. Sri is an excellent prof (good sense of humor/explains topics well) who provides tons of resources. The class itself is difficult; however, I found the homework to be helpful (if you can truly understand and complete the homework without outside resources, you will likely do well on her exams). ALSO MAKE A REACTION NOTEBOOK AS YOU GO!
Overall, Dr. Sri is a great professor, and she is passionate about teaching organic chemistry. As an engineering major where I am used to extensive homework that prepares you for exams, it was difficult to make the switch to a class where studying takes up all of your time. Make sure to do all the textbook questions and SI sheets, they are helpful.
good professor. if you did bad it's just a skill issue
For such a difficult class, Dr. Sri is a very good and reasonable professor. The resources she provides on Canvas (TB problems, HW, videos) are very important to do especially for exam 3. Her exams are fair and as others have said, if you put in the work you can succeed. Also very kind with extra point opportunities!
You get what you put into this class. Sri provides a ridiculous amount of practice, that really prepares you for exams. Go to lecture for extra practice and problem-solving tips. Don't underestimate topics bc they all build on each other. Remember the A is earned, not given. As long as you don't cram for exams, other pre-med activities can be done
Sri is the best professor ever - DON'T listen to the negative reviews. She is so caring and truly wants her students to succeed. Sri tells you exactly how to get an A in her class the first week - you MUST complete all of the practice textbook problems she assigns and do the homeworks. Go to office hours for help and keep up with content.
What nobody is telling you is she was in a bad position since she had to change exam 1 due to cheating, and exam 2 was easy due to access to old exams (cheating). This made her overreact and make exam 3 difficult which in technicality, is fair. U get free hw points, an extra credit, and she lowered the grade needed for an A. Stop complaining.
She is not a great lecturer in general but you can still self study and get an A. She overreacted during the semester and made some questionable choices. She asked the SIs to not make practice tests which is weird since the SIs do not even work for the chemistry department. She also got mad because people had past exams.
Incredible professor and person. She is kind, personable, and truly cares. The class is tough, but she encourages the exact habits you need to succeed, like maintaining a reaction notebook and doing textbook problems. She gives you every tool to do well; frankly, if you don't, it's deserving of some introspection.
Put in the work and you'll be fine. I did study more for this class than my other 15 credits this semester combined, but she sets you up for success: VERY clear expectations, lots of resources, office hours, etc. Exams significantly differed from prior papers but it was justified because she is teaching 2x the amount of students. Be compassionate.
Dr. Sri is such a caring professor and really looks out for her students. People complain because they are the ones who didn't put in the work. Of course, orgo is not going to be a walk in the park. She teaches well and provides so many resources. She even gave out extra points on the exams (aside from exam 3).
Dr. Sri gives you all the resources needed to obtain an A in the class. Homeworks are for credit and a good practice. The exams are extremely fair and objective to what we have learned in class. For how hard orgo is supposed to be, she taught great. Practice all the textbook problems to be well prepared. Good lecturer, although fast-paced.
I love hearing about my friends who dropped this class and took Liang and got a 95%+ in the class. Should have done the same since this class was incredibly frustrating but at least we pulled the A off. If I were to offer some advice, I would have her sit in Arvidson's lecture for a day and take detailed notes on how to actually teach. Take Liang.
She will tell you what you need to do and how much time you need to spend to be successful in this class. If you listen to her you will do fine. She does have sympathy for you, don't be surprised. I would do the textbook problems, they give you a lot of practice for the test and are the same difficult level as the test.
Dr. Sri is an incredible professor, but as a forewarning, she's as a fair as a prof can be. Her exams expect you to know the content very well, but the resources provided will help you to get to that point if you stay on top of the work. (DO THE TEXTBOOK PROBLEMS!)
Genuinely such a sweet and incredible professor. She is such a deep thinker and heartfelt individual. Talking with her outside of class is always such a pleasure. She wants you to do well and gives you loads of resources to do so. As long as you put in the effort and block away the time you need to master the material, you will be fine in orgo.
