Very good, clear. Gives handouts. The tests are strictly from the handouts. He's very helpfull. I would take other classes taught by him.
he is an awesome teacher, very nice and helpful towards his students
If you take this class with Dr. Wahba you will for sure get an easy A (as easy of an A you can get for an Anatomy class). The best teacher ever! So clear and helpful. He doen't load all of this stuff on you to learn, he is perfect for slower learners. Gives handouts and quizes are right out of them. Anyone can get an A, I did!!
He explains things really well and helps you with any questions. He is great teacher and helps you to learn everything. He gives packets that help you study for the tests and he does anything to help you pass.
A excelent teacher who wishes the best for all students even those of us who just dont get it. Just ask him for the help and he will give you the tools. If I passed you can too! someone who does not retain well.
His lectures are long, boring, and revolve off of copied packets of slides. (Thank God for those, or I would've never understood what he was talking about.) He was unhelpful and refused to specify what areas to focus on for tests, instead having us study EVERYTHING, and then testing on 10-20% of the material. Ridiculous! Wouldn't recommend.
The student should take anatomy before this physiology class! Or will be very hard to understand. Physiology is one of the most hard class among others! After Dr Wahba lecture, I still recommand to read text book and trying to understand concept instead of memorizing! If you get those concept, and read text book, you will do fine! I saw others stud
Of course this class isn't going to be fun it is phyisology! Dr. Wahba is very helpful if you didn't understand what he was talking about he would repeat it over and over again (literally 10 times). Many of the students in class want to be nurses so you have to know all of this stuff you can't be lazy, you have to study hard. He is a great teaher!
I had him for anatomy lab during the summer, and he was awesome! I took him again for phys. and he was a different person, he was the total opposite from what he was in anatomy. his quizzes/exams are hard, he doesn't tell u what to study for, not helpful. I know he's a nice person but he doesn't really show it in his phys. class
This guy is totally hard. Stay away from him. I got a B but then i put so much effort into it. Trust me I would rather take it elsewhere!
Excellent teacher. He goes above and beyond to make the class interesting, simplifiied as much as possible. Truely, wants students to learn. he made power point handouts for over 100 students, on a weekly basis. This class could have been so much more difficult if it hadn't been for the outstanding efforts on Dr. Wahba's part.
Very cool teacher...not easy....have to study like no tomorrow...but he's a really nice guy...
Very good teacher, and it is true as he always said "grade is to earn is not to get". you have to study hard. Most important of all, you should attend his lecture which simplified all the matters. Reading book is also helpfull to get (A) b/c some of his test (?) were from the book. If any question, ask him in lab. he tends to answer better in lab.
this class was one of the easiest i have ever taken and his lectures were very clear. No need to read the book because everything is in the handouts.
Attend lectures. Read all his slides and you'll do good in his quizes and exams. I didnt need to use the textbook. He often go back and review during his lecture, which is really helpful and u kind of guess it will be on the test.
Dr. Wahba is a great teacher; he got the CCC - Teacher of the Year Award, 2007. If you want to get A’s on the quizzes you also need to read the “Clinical boxes” in the chapter since he always likes to toss in a few Medical conditions questions on the quizzes. Dr. Wahba also likes to repeat some of the quiz questions on the Midterm and Final.
Physiology. This guy is amazing He is a retired physician and explains everything so clearly. He has the perfect mix of facts and interesting stories. There are no suprises on his exams. If you are planning on going in to the medical field, he is the person to take physiology with. Best bio teacher I have ever had by far!
Overall: Physiology is a lot of work. It is not easy but if you read the material ahead of time, you should be F.I.N.E. (freak out) (insecure) (neurotic) (emotional)
GREAT professor! He teaches in a very understandable way! He doesn't just PRESENT the subject on Power Point slides; like some professors do. He actually TEACHES, and breaks things down, so you will understand the material. I highly recommend him. Definitely one of the BEST professors I have ever had, and trust me, you need a great one for phys!
After taking university level classes and then taking this class, I found this class to be extremely easy. If you have trouble in this class, you won't be ready for university level classes or future health related classes that you'll be encountering whether it be nursing, dental hygiene...etc.
I just finished this class and I thought Wahba is truly the best teacher at Coastline. I think if you can get into his class then do it!
One of the best teachers. I would recommend him, especially if you want to be able to get an A. However, plan on putting in hours of study time memorizing his powerpoint slides...which is what tests are based on. He has a great sense of humor and is very fair.
Dr. Wahba made my life so much easier, I got an "A" and never picked up the textbook. All you need are the popwer point slides. He's the best!
STUDY THE POWERPOINTS! THEY ARE THE TEST! He is a great teacher and likes his job. He is more concerned with practical applications not boring memorization of glycolysis like Sharon Daniels at OCC. SHOW UP to the class, what he lectures about is the test.
This professor is very difficult to understand. Although he does make the subject matter comprehensible. He is not very easy as previousl commented by others. But the class is an easy "B" and it will be a challenge to earn an "A"
great professor. Willing to work with you. Study the lecture material and you will find yourself with an A!! Its simple: dont study dont pass...study and you will be successful.
Pretty cool guy even though he held my row back after class because he accused us of stealing a test. Tests are 100% on powerpoints, no need for book. Got an A in the class. He use to be an MD so he knows what stuff you should know and gives you fun facts.
Great teacher! No need to buy book, study power point only. I'm a CSULB student and took Wahba due to these professor ratings...and it was well worth it. I advise fellow CSULB students to do the same.
A is doable - even for some crammer like me. You don't have to study from book, because powerpoint cover pretty much the same material already. It is very similar to Anatomy. If you know those stuff already, then easy A. 2 quizzes (each 100 pt). 1 Mid & 1 Fin. Each 200 pt each. Combine these points and 400 pts from lab and you get A.
Dr. Wahaba is okay. Sometimes the lectures a long and redundant because they are off his power points which he provides for you to download online. However, if you study the power points ONLY you can easily pass the course. There is NO NEED TO BUY THE BOOK. The only thing about the book that helped was that I could use the online practice tests
He is really boring, and hard to understand because of his accent. He isnt helpful when you ask questions. no homework. he doesnt use the book. hes not hard but hes too boring.
People were caught cheating last semester so now this class is INSANE. He is very hard. He doesn't answer your questions. He is not helpful at all. He is very hard to understand. His test try to trick you and they do. If you want an A good luck if your ok with a C then take him. I def recomend reading the book his slides don't explain the subject.
boring class & a bit confusing. this class isn't as easy as you think. heard that last year was easier! does not review or give study guide for tests. lame!
this class ruined my GPA. ): studied a lot and from the powerpoints too, i still don't do well on my tests. i agree with the person below me! he's a hard! do not take! no study guides for midterm or final!
HORRIBLE. No study guide what so ever. I had to drop this course because he made it so difficult. DO NOT CHEAT EVER. you will get caught. he is so difficult to understand and isnt helpful at all. i would not take him if i were you. i had to drop this class it was so hard. he thinks his test are simple. they are SOOO hard.
Dr. Wahba is a nice person, but when it comes to questions about tests he is not. He isnt realistic with the questions he asks on the test. He never lectures about them so going into the test I think I'm going to get an A off of his lectures the actually get a D. He words everything tricky. Be careful if your going to take him. Count on getting a C
do not take wahba if you want a good grade. he is so hard and thinks your stupid when you think his tests are hard. if you take him you'll see. not an easy C
hard to understand. puts things on his test that werent in his lectures. his questions on his test don make sense. i dont suggest taking physiology with wahba.
Extremely difficult! He does not believe in study guide and his test are ridiculously hard. He does not use the book and basically reads off the powerpoint. On his test, he have some questions that are not even in the power point and the others are very tricky in wording. I do not recommend taking this class if you want an A.
Mr. Wahba is awesome! i dont know why other students thought he was hard but he wasnt. all his tests are 100% off the powerpoints. the book is not needed but it is really helpful to understand the powerpoints. i highly recommend him. sit in the front so you could really pay attention. again awesome teacher! would've hoped he taught micro :)
Dr. Wahba is a good teacher. His class is very hard but he has good analogies to help you understand. He has a good sense of humor. I learned a lot in his class as opposed to the lab. Just study everything in his powerpoint (don't need book). Make sure you know a little of everything in general.
It is the easiest class! Just study on ppt.
this class is NOT an easy B.... good luck
This was one of the worst professors that I have ever gotten. Stay away, he is hard to understand, and his tests are hard! I studied alot for this class and still did not do well. Most of the people in my class did horrible. He ruined my GPA.
Those who say this class is hard , quit your crying. This class was straight forward from the lectures. What more can you ask for? Imagine taking it somewhere else!
Whoever said not to get the book? Definately get the book.. the tests are off the ppowerpoints but just memorizing the powerpoints is not enough. You need to understand them too! Wahba is a fantastic professor though...a really great class
Everything on the test was straight from his ppt. Nothing outside of it. Very good class. It is not as hard as what ppl say it is. They probably didn't study as hard as they should or studied wrong.
Stay away from this guy. Take this class somewhere else. really bad at lecturing...he mumble alot. He reads off from the powerpoint and do not know how to relate material to student. he doesnt curve and does not answer student question. take him and your GPA is gone
Yes, he is boring to listen to and he does keep you for the whole class period. No, you don't need a book. His test is completely base on the PowerPoint. The only way to ace his test is to study and understand his materials and not just to memorizes it!!! Seriously, stop expecting that you can get an A and not do the work!
The hardest part of this class was sitting and listening to this guy. He reads, he doesn't teach. I avoided his lectures, made flashcards of his slides, tried my best to memorize them, and came out with a B.
i know this professor well. Study off powerpoints only. if the text is big and it's in color (red or green), i guarantee you that it will be on his quizzes/tests. if it's in black ink and small, you don't need to know it. one lab TA steals questions from the McGraw Hill Online Textbook website
Remon is the best! His lectures are great, very clear and to the point. He never moves forward until everyone understands. Studied off powerpoint only, never bought a book and did extremely well. He is very fair and lots of fun. Loved Dr. Wahba, great teacher!
NEED THE BOOK. he tries to trick you and just memorizing his slides WILL NOT help. very hard to understand and very very hard tests. good luck.
didn't get the book, didn't pay attention in class, read the powerpoint slides and got an A (its a lot to read though)
Took this class in the summer. Yes the test are 100% on his slides. However these slides are short n condensed; therefore it was hard to understand just by reading the slides. So you HAVE to read the book for clarification. Once you read the book, the slides make total sense. Once you understand this class is a piece of cake! Very interesting class
Easiest bio course ever. If you are a bio major and used to memorizing, no need to buy a book! Just memorize 100% (and I really mean memorize every single word) of his powerpoints and you are set for an easy A. If you are looking for a challenge and to actually learn physio with hands on labs, look elsewhere. You learn NOTHING in the lab, only lec.
My experience with this prof. was horrible. Wahba showed the most pathetic and disgusting display of discrimination towards me that I have EVER encountered in an educational institution or anywhere else. Extremely unprofessional when confronted with his mistakes which escalated into harassment which I came very close to suing for.
This teacher refused to give me my graded scantrons back ALL semester (everyone else got theres)and repeatedly threatened to drop me for NO reason. It was pure discrimination, and he egged Berman on who showed similar discrimination. His verbal/emotional harassment for 3 weeks made me physically sick and I had a lawyer ready to take action.
I decided not to sue only because I was physically ill and could not deal with that kind of added stress. Wahba and Berman wanted to drop me from the class EVEN AFTER I TOOK THE FINAL EXAM. I demanded a meeting and took out a tape recorder. Wahba shot up out of his seat and towards the door. Only after I took this action did he agree to not drop me
He was obviously scared of me getting evidence of his behavior, yet even after all of this he continued to withhold my exams and made me wait 2 hours AFTER the final to return my exam documents (though he had them room). Horrible experience. Just hope you are not of the race or whatever it is he is prejudice against.
Wonderful Professor. Please do not listen to the mental person in previous comments. Please. Come to class and be a adult student. Do not play the race card. It is so old.
Okay, this class is not an easy class at all. I and other students in my class study are brains out and still stay at a low b to c grade. He only gives 2 quizzes and 2 exams. 1st quiz covered 6-7 chapters and not all info is on slides. There was about 500 slides for this quiz with lots of info on each one. He says it's so easy but its not near easy
Great Professor. He has a deep rich understanding of the material. I would recommend this class to anyone that truly wants to understand Physiology. Do your part and study. Lectures are crystal clear. He will not move on to another subject until everyone understands the material. He has a great sense of humor, loves his job. Thanks Doctor Wahba
He is the most boring lecture teacher I've ever encountered. He has an accent and all he does is read off the slides. I don't understand why he takes attendance when the class points come from a midterm, two quizzes, and a final. Physiology is a tough subject but it makes it worse when the professor is SO dull and not passionate. AVOID!
Everything is on the slides, but for a quiz, you'll have over 300 slides with lots of info,as long as you study atleast four hours a day you can pass.
PHYSIOLOGY IS A HARD SUBJECT. He does not give study guides for tests and quizes. Therefore, all the information you need for the test comes from the powerpoints. For the quizes, you would have to study like about 200-450 slides (tough; but doable). tests = 800-1200 slides (the numbers of slide might be vague).Obviouslyalot toremember and underst
Very difficult tests with tricky questions. I have a 3.8 GPA. This class was hard. Boring lecturer.
Very helpful with all aspects of the online class
Experience varies from person to person. Lecture will put you to sleep but ask and he will clarify for you. Quizzes and exams are straight-forward as long as you take your time. Study the powerpoints and don't whine about the amount of slides, everything you need is there and overall an easier experience for a tough subject.
I just finished my Spring semester with this instructor, and I really can't understand why so many people rate him poorly! He is a great teacher and more than willing to explain everything to you, as many times as you need to understand the concept. The class is not easy, and yes you do need to study..You can get an A..
yes, bring coffee to class because going through 50+ slides a night will put you to sleep. However, put in the time to study the slides because the tests are all based on them, and you will get an A in the class. They are pretty straightforward. If you come in with the mindset to study the material, you'll get an A.
Boring lectures, but will answer questions for you. Tricky test questions, study hard. I have a 3.85 gpa, and got into a nursing program, a BA, and am currently in a masters degree nursing program and I found his tests difficult.
This class is difficult, but Dr. Waba takes the time to explain everything. He will meet you in his office if you request it. Helpful... His exams are stright forward, but you have to study! Read the book. If you don't get it meet with him. He walked me through things and made them "crystal" clear. Thanks, Dr. Waba! Your the best!
First of all you need the lab manual to do the lab exercises. The lecture is based on power point and there are no reviews for quizzes and exams because he really wants you to know physiology based on his powerpoint. The text for lecture is never used. He has taken this lecture portion of the course and modified it to his specifications as if was
KEEP IN MIND THIS IS BIO 175. THIS INSTRUCTORS METHOD OF LECTURING IS READING OFF OF A POWERPOINT PRESENTATION FOR 3 HOURS.NO REVIEW FOR QUIZZES OR EXAMS. TRICKY QUESTIONS.
he also lectures at los angeles southwest college where he is useless.so much cheating in his class and he is so unaware, you wonder where he got his traning from. he is also rude, and lazy. his stomach is so large ,you can tell that he don't even know anything about biology.
Dr. Wahba is a great Professor. He tries to make his lectures which are off powerpoints funny and interesting! His tests are all off the powerpoints- you do not need the text book. The tests are hard, but he is very fair with points and gives extra points here and there. I think he curved the final because I got an A and should have had a B!
This professor has the lowest overall rating in the entire Coastline District. Did'nt even cover metric system of measurements. The dead space in your resp tree is about 150 ml how many litres is this? End of-Diastolic volume at rest is 120ml. How many fluid ounces is this?
Ethics
Easy & interesting class I ever take. Dr.Wahba knows the subject well & does an awesome job at delivering the subject. Honestly, if you want to be anything in the health career--YOU need to study. Stop giving profs bad ratin just bc u didnt bother to study. Exams are only hard bc u didnt study the material "right"
Dr. Wahba is a book of knowledge. The only reason he has poor reviews is because of those who take advantage of him and continue to cheat their way through school. I was actually honest enough to let him know who the cheaters in my class were. He provided us with so much information and delivered it very clearly. Wonderful professor!
Wahba is great!makes everything "crystal clear".Gave us lots of ec.There were ppl in my day class who cheated and got caught so they are a disgruntled bunch. Seriously guys, I laugh at you guys for not pickin up ur own slack. Wat more could you want from this guy? u guys dont even ask questions. I read the book, crammed days before test and got an
Medical Doctor and Professor Wahba is a great teacher. I'm very upset to read such negative comments posted on here. He explains everything and you can ask him any question 10 times. He makes learning FUN, helps you understand each and every aspect of Human Physiology. He is not stupid, he is aware of cheaters and will drop them day of the final.
Dr./Professor Wahba is not only a scholar but a gentleman. To be honest...I don't even know what grade I've received yet in his class. But what I do know is "If you love physiology, physiology will love you"-wahba. He made class fun and interesting. I took it in summer which was tough but he made it a lot easier. A class act, take him.
This Doc is so helpful and doesn't talk over students heads. He gives very helpful examples that gives clarity to whatever the topic is. If you put the time in to study, you will get the grade you deserve. This man is amazing and I wish I would have taken him during the fall/or spring semester to get more classroom time.
At first I was very hesitant to take Prof Wahba's class after reading some of the negative comments about him, but I am glad I ended taking him this summer. This class was so interesting and he was so patient with his students. He is also funny and makes the class enjoyable. You can definitely get an A if you study and attend class.
He is an outstanding teacher, even when I fell behind because of work, I was still able to catch up. He interacts on the discussion board and answers all questions very quickly, not the standard 24-48 hours. HE SO FAR IS THE BEST TEACHER I HAVE SEEN AT CCC. There is no way you can fail this class, he helps all his students.
This class was challenging. I studied hard for the tests and my final grade was an A. I took this class Summer 2010 and it wasn't that bad at all. He tries to engage his students and gives helpful examples. As long as you take this class seriously and study, you should be able to do well. Pro = no textbook required, Con = too many PPT slides!
Wahba is helpful. I don't know why people rated him so poorly. If you have questions, he goes over them a million times to make sure you understand. If you know his powerpoint slides, you are solid. Since you don't have to get a textbook he gets a chili pepper!
I took this class Summer 2010. I was a little worried after reading some of the comments. The class is difficult, but Physiology is a difficult subject. It is possible to get an A if you study and ask questions in class. Dr. Wahba is SO helpful, funny and nice. Buy the book, it helps. I had the 10th edition, and it was cheaper and worked fine.
He is a fabulous instructor. I don't know why people complain about the slides...whenever you take ANY science course it ALWAYS consists of memorization so what's the big deal. He also is very patient and really tries to break down difficult concepts to make them easier. I'd recommend him.
Yes, He is helpful, and you have to memory everything in his PowerPoint.... that is it.
Loved Dr. Wahba! Just finished his summer course. He is very helpful, funny and informative. Like all bio, requires a lot of study time, but his tests are very straight forward. Wish he taught other classes.
One of the worst teachers I've had. He was 30 mins late on the first day of class and that never improved during the six-week course. Not only that, but he would ramble on and let people ask questions about fruit when the class had NOTHING to do with fruit. Unfortunately for me, I'll be seeing him again in the fall for a math class. Oh joy.
EZ!! give 25 extra credit points..All you need to know is memorized his slides. No txt book needed or lab book needed..just photocopied the handout from another lab mate.. No hassle class u might as well take on another 3 more classes cuz u will have a LOT of FREE TIME!
This class is very EASY! There are a lot of slides to go through in the online course. 8 quizzes (can be previewed), 1 midterm and final exam (can't be previewed), plus you get 10 pts. each for completing student introduction & letter of agreement. Keep your quizzes to study! Many of the questions are on the midterm & final! I had a 97% in class!
This was a great class! Professor Wahba really knows his stuff and explains everything very well. Just listen to his lectures and memorize his slides and you'll do great. I really enjoyed this class and I'm so glad I had him for a teacher!
You really need to study his slides and UNDERSTAND the concepts to get an A in his class. Memorizing his slides will barely get you through. I've learned so much in his class- he's engaging, and REALLY cares about his students. Be proactive and ask questions, and you will have as great of an experience as I had.
quizzes are difficult, hardest class in 7 semesters with coastline. quiz answers are ridiculous to find. ended up dropping with a W (first time I have ever done that)
I took physiology with Dr. Wahba, he is an amazing teacher who actually is an MD. He really knows his stuff and if he knows that you really wanna do well, he goes out of his way to help. He can be strict about stuff like cheating, and it shows that he cares about students to learn. I studied his slides (NO book) and got an A in his class. Good Luck
I took his Bio lab class. His quizzes are sometimes hard due to the fact he merely reads off the slides. If you ask him questions he will respond, but who wants to ask questions throughout the whole session? He lets you out early. Memorizing the slides doesn't give you an A. Its hard to sometimes understand his accent and he is not too clear.
Lots of memorizing like most bio classes, requires a little more understanding. Class is straight forward though, attend class, read his powerpoints (everyday), and you should be fine. Dont think you can review a few days before the tests and get a good grade though. A little eaveryday and you should be good. He is smart, will help IF YOU ASK
He is very dedicated in every lesson to make sure all students understand clearly. His lessons are clear, I just see more on the textbook on Nervous System. He is helpful and ready help you if you ask him. You should ask him to make clear about what to write short essays in the midterm and final tests.Work hard and you'll get a high grade. I got A+
Has an accent. Not hard to understand. very helpful if you ask questions. Very nice and caring teacher.
professor wahba may be an MD, but he's not a terrible teacher. the class itself is not difficult. its is the HEAVY accent that is reading to you (from ppt slides) for 4 straight hours of lecture and the 2.5 hours in lab trying to figure out what he was saying. if you actually want to learn from a REAL teacher, take someone else.
Unlike the previous review I did not have problem with his accent because I knew I have to learn from power point. However, I did not learn that much from this class. If you want to learn physiology, you need to take a better teacher. He is nice though.
No problem with accent. He is actually very funny and encourages asking questions. Lectures are boring because he literally reads the slides to you. Doesn't tell you what's going to be on the tests but gives you 40 pts extra credit.
Actually I was an ESL student when I took his class. However, he was so nice and explained to me some new vocabulary from the exams when I did not understand . The class was so difficult to me, but the professor was great. You have to understand the ppts to do quizzes and exams. Thank you so much professor.
He's a nice guy but has an odd sense of humor. He basically treats us like we are in high school. He's not really straightforward, doesn't tell us anything about the test. He includes lecture stuff on lab test so make sure you study it all. The course it fairly demanding esp. for summer. He will keep you as late as he can :( Need to pay attention
The class was fairly easy as long as you read the textbook. There were no assignments due except for the quizzes, mid term and final exam (which were only easy if you actually read the loooong chapters). Prof. Wahba answered all questions I had in a timely manner. Pretty easy A.
Very great teacher, his test is straight from lecture and PowerPoint, don't buy the book
Prof. Wahba is a very laid back teacher. He loves teaching physio. He loves when you ask thought provoking questions. He won't tell you exactly what's on the exam, just know if it's on the power points it's fair game. He repeats impt. items that will be on exam. Gives extra credit. Ask questions if unclear, he is there for you.
Prof is okay. He is nice and laid back. He has slight accent, which can make you sleepy; he reads slides. Tests are hard but possible to get a good grade if you MEMORIZE the extreme amount of long slides. Study daily or you will not be able to absorb the information by the time of test. Class has extra credit, which really helps. Long lectures.
Pay attention to the highlighted/underlined/or bolded phrases and the material he repeats at the end of each chapter. They WILL appear on the quiz. His midterm and final include questions that have been on the quiz. Make sure you read and know the information well. Quizzes are curved. He wants everyone to succeed!
The class was very long around 6 hours but he is very knowledgable and answers ur questions. Make sure to read handouts and study what he repeats in class and what is highlighted. It was an easy A for me
Love Professor Wahba. At first, he seemed like he would be a difficult grader but his tests were straight from the powerpoint. He also likes to repeat things that will be on the test. Many many slides to memorize but worth it. He truly cares for his students in a tough love kind of way. I really enjoyed taking his class. Easy A
Great medical terminology course. Professor gives feedbacks on everything he assigned. tedious weekly post, assignments, but easy A. There are 8 quizzes, 1 Midterm, 1 Final.
Awesome professor! I took an online course with him; I was a little worried because of my busy schedule, but I found it very accommodating. I would highly recommend. Gives thorough feedback and makes test prep easy.
Beware of the anatomy and physiology course he is using a book that is out of print , the publisher stated that the textbook is a print on demand book and will no longer be printing the book but the professor will not budge , he still urges you to search for the books even though the shipping time is long and is costly because its out of print .
