Nice guy and lectures well but exams were just so hard. 90 questions in an hour and then curves it but honestly the only ones getting rewarded are those with a Chegg subscription.
He offers extra credit (do these!) and stays at the end of the class to answer questions. Exam format is tricky, so spend a LOT of time practicing solving previous homework problems. Grade is helped by the curve. It's his first semester teaching and he is a nice guy that cares about his students more than most. Online can be tough in general.
Professor Levin might be my most favorite professor I have had at UConn. I am currently a junior. He has great lectures and he is very understanding to his students. If you are really trying he will help you the best he can. All I have is positives about him, this is my second class I have taken with him. Will take another if I can.
Prof. Levin is a good professor, I had him for 3209 and microecon. He knows his stuff and you'll actually learn something bc he makes it easy to understand. He is a nice guy but does grade on a few things. He usually puts a fat curve onto everyone's overall grades at the end of the semester tho. for reference i got a 76 on midterm and that was an A
He is a nice professor but take it at your own risk, because he is new to teach at UCONN.
I dont know how the other people who rated him rated so high. Might just be fake reviews but in all my years of taking any Econ course, Professor Levin is the hardest. His test are nearly impossible unless you devote ALL your time to studying day and night. His curve is crazy, around 30 points which is rediculous as curves shouldnt be that high
Prof. Levin is definitely passionate about what he teaches. There is a textbook, but I mainly used it as supplemental material from what was taught in lecture. The tests are graded on a curve, so sometimes a 56/100 can be curved to an B+, etc. If you show up to lectures and put in the effort to learn the material it is a very rewarding experience.
Professor Levin is awesome to talk to and is super passionate about the topic. The math can sometimes be a bit intense and the exams are quite difficult, but he usually grades on a curve and boosts the class's grades. If you show up and actually attempt the homework you will do well.
Prof Levin is a great lecturer, he's engaging and passionate about the class. The exams are tough but the scale is generous. Homeworks are reasonable and good test prep. Attendance isnt mandatory, but participating and asking questions is the best way to learn the material, so participation is key to a good grade. Overall, good class, great prof
This was a really good class that challenged me, intrigued me, and taught me a lot of theory and calculation. In my opinion, attending the lectures is a MUST to get the full effect of Professor Levin's enthusiasm for and expertise in Behavioral Economics. Due to its intensity, I recommend taking this class in junior year, possibly senior fall.
I had to make this class P/F and retake it for my econ major even though I am a straight A student. just dont take him and save yourself please.
Professor Levin is a genuine and funny person. Hes passionate about the course but his course moves fast. Homework's were very tedious/difficult, lecture were confusing, exams difficult even witha cheat sheet, and term paper (which you only have two weeks for) is the worst experience ive had. its an interesting class but id avoid it if I could
Professor Levin is a great guy that is truly passionate about his subject. While the class work may be challenging at first in 3209 if you are not familiar with basic statistics but the content is very well taught. The lectures are very insightful and the professor encourages conversation throughout every lecture. Certainly a favorite class.
This class can be daunting with the amount of math one has to quickly get familiarized with, but if you're willing to consistently follow the course, you'll end up with a very solid understanding of basic behavioral economics. Attending the lectures is a must to do well, and Pr. Levin will conceptualize the material making it much more meaningful.
Prof. L is one of the best professors I have had at UConn. He provided cited research papers in his lectures to give context to each piece of information given and connected it all in a beautiful way. I will say, his exams were difficult but fair if you study the homework, textbook, and lectures.
Remy is a very welcoming professor. He is connected to the class, knows everybody's name, and makes sure people stimulate their senses during the class and participate. It is important to mention this is not an easy course at all, be prepared to read, calculate, and write a term paper.. I do not think it is a hard class, just very time consuming.
Remy Levin is a great professor who really makes their students work for their grade. The class isn't easy by any stretch, but if you put in the extensive work required with the homework, a good grade is within reach. The tests are difficult, but curved nicely.
He is a very tough grader. His tests are very stressful with 60 questions on the midterms and 100 on the final. He allows a cheat sheet but it is still impossible to use it with just a minute per question. This class makes me feel like a complete failure even after giving my all. I would recommend taking it with another professor if possible.
Despite this course being an interesting and useful subject, this instructor's ability to effectively teach it is mediocre at best. He is experienced yet already has a full and fragile ego. If you are struggling and need help, expect a lecture on the Dunning-Kruger effect instead of him understanding the effects of variance on exam outcomes.
Remy was one of my favorite professors at UConn. He's great at explaining difficult concepts and always uses examples in class to strengthen our understanding. Exams are hard but he curves heavy(an 84 was an A). He doesn't allow computers or phones but doing so helped me focus better in class. I look forward to taking Econ 3209 with Professor Levin
Overall great professor, prepare to be in lecture and participating. There are 3 major tests given throughout the year as well as weekly homework. He encouraged learning and showed a passion and deep understanding of the subject. Gave good real-life examples to help students understand and constantly asked for student feedback mid lecture. 10/10
Such a strict professor for no reason. The tests are insanely hard. You get just about a minute per question, and he expects you not to finish. Please find a better professor.
Avoid this professor at all costs. There are no practice exams or study guides, and more than half of the class failed the midterm to the point where a 35 became a C after curving. The largest ego I have seen from a professor, to the point where parts of your paper will be crossed out with just "stop" in the margins, has no desire to aid students.
His exams are insanely hard for no reason. His homework's are long and time consuming. Don't take this class with him unless you absolutely need it.
Honestly, this class is tough. Material is challenging but Prof. Levin does very well in trying to help you understand. It does take effort outside of class to do well, but attending class and paying attention helps. Don't take this class if you aren't willing to put in some effort on your end but I think the things you learn make it worth it.
PASSION!!!!
Professor Levin is very engaging and makes showing up to class very enjoyable. The material is complex but he makes it understandable. If you want an easy A, don't take this class but for those who want to learn, it is so worth it. I wish he taught more classes and can't say enough good things about him.
Professor Levin is one of the best professors at UConn hands down. He makes sure that everyone grasps each concept and makes lectures fun. The concepts themselves are also super interesting and I often found myself wanting to learn more. The classes are difficult and are not at all easy A's but you learn so much even if you don't do as well.
One of the best lecturers at UConn, and an expert in the field. Cannot recommend enough from a learning perspective, is a phenomenal teacher. Occasionally does things that seem unnecessarily difficult/could provide more study resources for difficult exams, but if you study a bit and understand the homework, can achieve a good grade.
Professor Levin is a great professor and cares about his students. Attendance is MANDATORY and you will fail if you don't show up, and cold calls on people. He is a notes heavy professor and only allows paper or an iPad. The class itself is very difficult and requires a lot of work in order to pass the class but he doesn't like failing people.
The tests are difficult and the majority of your grade, attendance matters, and you will get called on in class. Other than that, Professor Levin is a good professor who is enthusiastic about what he teaches, and keeps class as engaging as possible. Be willing to put in time outside of class, but the workload is manageable.
Prof Levin is an excellent professor and has very engaging lectures that allow you to understand the difficult content that he teaches. With that said, it's a difficult class. So if you don't put in the time it will bite you. Exams are super hard but are graded on a curve and homework is just accepted for completion, however they are very long.
You learn a lot by going to the lectures. He really encourages class participation and has passion for the subject material. The course itself has some very difficult content, and Remy does a great job with at least warning you what is difficult and encourages lots of question asking. Definitely don't take this course if you don't go to class.
The class is very difficult, but Remy is very passionate about his teaching. He tries hard to get the more complex ideas and lessons in class to be understandable by all of his students. I did not have the best time in class, but thats because it was such a hard concept to understand. I hope in the future he offers some sort of tutor or help.
The course overall was really interesting. There is a lot of material and it can be overwhelming at times, and the exams are tough. If you are not willing to put in the effort, I would not recommend taking this class. It's really important to go to class, although he does provide a recorded lecture for certain circumstances.
He is a great professor who cares deeply about his teaching. The class itself is difficult but very interesting/useful information, and he makes this clear at the beginning of the course. The exams are extremely difficult to test your knowledge of the information but also graded on a curve.
Professor Levin explained the material very thoroughly an trie his best to get his students to understand, especially because the material is hard. He welcomes questions as well. His exams are extremely hard. Attendance isn't mandatory but necessary to get a good grade in the class. He makes the material he teaches very interesting.
Professor Levin is an amazing teacher who really cares about his class and his teaching mechanics. The class itself is difficult (he lets you know this during the first week of lecture), yet very interesting and enjoyable. The exams are very difficult and you need to attend class to do good on them, but are graded with a curve which is very nice.
Professor Levin really cares about what he is teaching. This is a very difficult class, but he really challenges you to work for your grade and does a wonderful job teaching the material.
Remy is very passionate about what he is teaching. The content is hard and you need to put in the work to do well. Lectures are very helpful with the problem sets and exam questions are similar to problem sets. Exams are very hard, but he grades on a curve and you get a cheat sheet. Great professor, hard class.
Very invested in what he is teaching and tries to bring that same level of investment toward the students in the class. However, the class is difficult as it is very theoretical and requires a lot of attention. Going to lectures is a must even though it is not required as learning this classes topics on your own is very difficult.
Must attend lectures to stay on top of topics and assignments. Very easy to fall behind. Exams are hard but curved, studying is a must. Material is conveyed clearly throughout lectures and professor stops often to ask for questions and to clarify anything for students.
Dr. Levin is extremely knowledgeable in his field and an excellent lecturer. He expects a lot from the students and is willing to support their efforts as represented by his positive responses to student comments. His lectures provide for involvement and engagement. He keeps the material interesting and relates it to practical applications.
Overall an excellent and kind proffesor, just has a high standard and will hold you to your very best, and will need 100% effort to succeed. DO NOT TAKE if you do not plan on attending the class as majority relies heavy on attending the lecture
Professor Levin was a great teacher, and while the material can be confusing and the exams are difficult, he genuinely wants everyone in the class to do well while being a fair grader. He made the material very easy to comprehend and gave plenty of opportunities for extra credit on exams and in the overall course.
Professor Levin is very knowledgeable and passionate about the topics that he taught. It was difficult material, but he curved exams so getting a good grade is far from impossible. Attending lectures is not mandatory, but important to getting a good grade, as it is difficult material to try and teach yourself.
The course material is a bit heavy in general. Go to class and do all the textbook readings, homework and you'll be good. The lectures can get a little bit off topic but the professor is very kind. Enthusiastic about his teaching and cold calls so be prepared! He allows for a cheat sheet on all exams!
Professor Levin cares but do not get confused. He is extremely difficult and hard to follow. His exams are tough and does not give partial credit on exams with only a few questions. Just because he cares does not mean he is a good professor. Would not recommend econ 3209
Overall Professor Levin wants to see his students do well and does a lot of cold calling and class participation to make sure information is clear to students. Homeworks are very lengthy and time consuming. Midterm was long and expected very in depth answers but allows for you to have a cheat sheet on both the midterm and final.
All these recent reviews are from students who actually attend his class. Remy is incredibly passionate, he wants the best for his students, and he is more than willing to explain difficult concepts. If you want to learn something, take this class. You HAVE to come to lecture or you'll fail this class most likely. Overall, great professor!
Econ 3209 with Levin is one of the most challenging courses I have taken at UConn. Going to class is mandatory and the exams are hard but Prof. Levin makes the class very interesting, which is why I enjoyed the class so much.
the exams were difficult, but if you go to lecture you will learn a lot and they will not be so difficult, plus there is curve, so you will always be in good hands. you learn so much from the class though, professor is a cool dude, lectures are mandatory but lowkey fun
Prof. Levin is a hard but fair professor. The course is super exam heavy and they are very hard (midterm avg. 54 I think) but do get curved a lot. It is very important to attend every lecture as the exams are almost entirely based on lecture material.
Great lecturer who provokes interesting conversations outside of regular class material which I enjoyed. Homework isn't too hard and exams are manageable as long as you study and review the homework. Also curves every test heavily and final grade. Would recommend.
Professor Levin's ECON 3209 probably my second hardest class here at UConn but also my second favorite. His lectures are almost performative and really engaging. Showing up to the lectures is most important, do your problem sets twice to get a good handle on the material, ask questions and make your cheat sheets.
Genuinely cool guy but the material can be hard. He does an excellent job of answering questions and he has a way of lecturing which makes difficult concepts make sense. Definitely worth attending because of his style of teaching.
Extremely good Professor. Very engaging and interactive. Hard course and a lot of work so you have to be organised and put in the time but if you do you will learn a lot.
One of the best classes I've taken at UConn. Professor Levin is very engaging and is always open to answering questions. His lectures are really great to listen to and he includes research papers in his lectures so you can directly see how the stuff you are learning is applied in the real world.
Great professor, hard midterm and final
Really genuinely cares about the material and teaches it in a very animated and attention-grabbing way. Overall, your grade might not be as great as any other class but you will learn a lot and take away some cool real-life info. Also, very nice and genuine guy who is mindful of others.
Great lecturer, super nice guy, takes the time to answer questions in class and makes the course content very interesting. Sometimes rushes through content, but will definitely go over concepts again if you ask. Slides are posted after lecture, lectures themselves aren't posted. Lectures aren't mandatory but I'd highly recommend attending.
Probably my favorite class and favorite professor I have taken while I have been at Uconn. The class is very difficult so you must put time into learning the material. He makes the class incredibly engaging and actually makes you want to come to class.
He has a no-electronics-in-class rule, which forces you to actually pay attention and participate in class. He is helpful and genuinely wants his students to succeed. The concept of behavioral economics is really hard and takes a lot of effort. The class is enjoyable but may trick you into thinking you understand the content.
A super great and engaging class, but it is very tough. You have to keep up with lectures and ask questions in class if you don't understand concepts.. The assignments are tough also but tests are graded fairly . Overall a professor who cares a lot about the subject matter and is good at keeping students engaged and interested.
Pretty solid, though 3 HW assignments given every week, 1 of which takes a fair while to complete, i would only recommend this class if you have enough free time to complete all the assignments, tests are very difficult but they're curved so you will likely get above a C.
Remy's very passionate and energetic in class so it makes the class very interesting to be in. He does require that we take notes with pen and paper, which I personally believe really did help me understand the material. Honestly, if you attend class regularly and understand how to utilize the cheat sheets then you will do well.
Overall, he is a good professor and very passionate. He provides a lot of information and only written notes, which means attendance is very important in order to pass. The exams are extremely difficult, and he doesn't do a review session before the exam, so you have to study heavily on your own and try to get a slot for office hours.
Exams are very difficult: time pressure, lots of questions. Prepare to get low grades on the exams. But he curves them fairly. Lectures can be relatively slow. Very good at engaging students, more pedagogical than any other ECON prof I've had at UCONN.
Great and engaging professor - but be ready for long exams with a difficult time crunch (multiple choice) which is where I struggled in this course
Love Remy, definitely one of my favorite professors at UConn. He's so engaging in the class and ensures you're involved by doing check-ins a few times during class. Although it may be a difficult subject, I thought the intersection of psychology and economics would be fascinating and useful in the future. If you love a challenge, take this class.
No phones or laptops, but he curves the class and is a very engaging professor. Highly Recommend, but you have to do the work or itll be hard.
Remy is great professor that teaches a very difficult course. At first going into the first day of class I thought I would end up dropping the class because of how difficult he made it seem it was going to be but I went to every lecture and I passed the class with a better grade than I would have expected. He is a great professor who will help you.
The only people who hate this professor are those who don't go to class, but this guy is the best professor I've had. Very cool, engaging, exams are very hard but appropriate curve so you if you go to class you'll be good. 10/10 professor though, I hope he gets a raise
Overall, I enjoyed this course. Professor Levin was a very engaging professor who actually was a good teacher. So often it's just smart people trying to teach you something but they can't cause they suck at teaching. My only drawback to the course is that the exams are brutal. They are open notes however extremely difficult.
Professor Levin is a great professor if you want to learn and challenge yourself. He has a strict no phone or laptop policy which, at first, seems harsh but is actually very conducive to discussions in class. He genuinely cares about his students learning, but is not forgiving for those looking for an easy A.
Very intriguing and a great teacher overall, definitely go to classes. If you're looking for an easy A stay away from him, but if you want to learn material and stay interested easily he's great.
Professor Levin has great lectures and makes sure the class is following the content. Exams are difficult but doable if you pay attention and prepare. No technology is allowed in class. Great professor who makes the class engaging, highly recommend.
Attendance isnt manditory but will help for passing the tests. 2 multiple choice midterms and a multiple choice final. He rounds up the grades on every test and final grade. Study the homework and show up to class and you will pass.
It might sounds old-fashioned to take notes on notebook, but I have to admit I devote myself more in Professor Levin's course. The class is very engaging and there aren't too much homework. Pofessor Levin sometimes put too much time on participation and miss some of the concepts, but the homework could cover them. Overall, a good professor
Professor Levin clearly cares about the work he does but also students. He led engaging and thought provoking discussions. Attendance wasn't mandatory, but the no technology rule made lectures valuable. Tests are a large portion of the grade and were tough but curved fairly. Not an easy A but a good class to learn a bit about how the world works.
He is a great professor that really cares about his students and always makes sure that everyone understands the concepts. As long as you put in the effort by reading the textbook, going to class, and doing the homework, you should be just fine. There are three multiple-choice tests in the class with time pressure, but they are curved.
Super good econ prof. If you go to lecture you'll do just fine. Most of the grade is made up of 3 exams, (including the final), and the exam questions are almost identical to the homework/quizzes that you take online. He's a super fair grader on the exams as both exams as well as the class are graded on a curve.
Professor Levin teaches interesting. He explains the topics by giving examples in real life. He asks students questions during the class which helps to be with him and figure out if everyone understands the material.
He's a nice guy and very passionate about Behavioral Economics. The material is difficult and expansive. I often left lectures confused. The two exams only cover 2-4 topics, making much of the lecture and homework material feel unnecessary. I'd prefer a deeper focus on those topics. Someone got a 100 on the midterm, so it's possible to do well.
Professor Levin is an awesome professor. He is really passionate about what he teaches. He does have a no laptop/phone policy in class but makes lecture so interesting and engaging that it's not too much of a bother. Exams are hard but he grades with a generous curve. Overall great professor if you actually want to learn something in this class
This course was challenging, and I have taken ECON 2202 with another professor we went over math equations more than concepts since it is an intermediate course, and I understood how to do the work. Compared to this course which was more focused on the concepts than the actual math, taking the exam there is more math than concepts on it?!?!?
He is a good teacher, who is very passionate about econ. He tends to ramble about the concepts and does not get to teach how to work the formulas. Be prepared to teach yourself how to do the homework. There are three assignments weekly. He is a generous grader so if you are willing to put in the extra effort you will be fine.
Genuinely inspiring professor, easily one of the best at UConn. Behavioral is an incredibly exciting field, and Dr. Levin does it justice by explaining the probability and math that backs up the intuition behind these models. The exams are difficult, and sometimes in ways that I feel are simply tedious. Despite some gripes, highly recommend.
Great professor who cares about students. Material is difficult but lectures are very interesting and engaging. You get a cheat sheet for exams but still have to devote a ton of time to studying. Most questions are reasonable; the hard ones are really hard. Not an easy A, but highly recommend if you're into econ theory and willing to put in effort.
He explains the material clearly and easily, and is very engaging, so his lectures are amazing. But the exams are hard since there's time pressure.
Professor Levin was a great professor. I really enjoyed attending his lectures. Instead of focussing on the content from the textbooks, he related what we were learning to real life situations which I found really beneficial. The exams are tough but if you go to class you will be fine.
Passionate and clearly loves teaching the subject which I think makes the long lectures manageable. The biggest issue is that there are no answer keys, needlessly complicating studying. He is available in office hours, but they really just become seeing if your answer is right and less more substantial questions on the material.
Would recommend. Prof Levin is a kind, passionate, and encouraging educator. His lectures are engaging, and he consistently checks for student understanding. If you go to class, participate, and study the word problems on the problem sets, you'll be fine.
Professor Levin uses the class to salify core concepts, meaning he calls on you to help better understand the material. There is a mix of slide notes and open discussion. He likes to hone in on examples that the students are familiar with to help relay the concepts.
Professor Levin was a great teacher. It was hard to keep up with the 3 weekly assignments but otherwise gained a lot of his lectures.
Good man, enthusiastic about the subject, but could seriously benefit from more practice problems on the math material. You aren't provided any answer keys on homework or practice exams, so you're essentially teaching yourself the math problems as a whole.
do not take
Is very passionate about this course and the topic, not a lenient professor, course is extremely difficult
Easily the best professor I have had in college. He does not allow phones or laptops, but you probably learn better by writing notes by hand anyway. Class is hard; you need to show up, but if you do, you'll be good. Exams are difficult, but there is partial credit. Prof. Levin is funny and passionate about the material and wants you to succeed.
Great professor, I would definitely take his class again. The class is hard, but if you attend and study you should be in a good place.
This is a good class to take, you have to go to class, but Professor Levin is extremely passionate which makes them intruiguing. Lectures are posted at the end of each module and there are four homework assignments and two exams. It's a hard course with a lot of information, but if you go to every class and pay attention, you'll do pretty decent.
Professor Levin is passionate about the subject and cares deeply about the material. He cold calls often, so participation and staying attentive are key. Lectures aren't posted until before exams, so taking thorough notes is essential. The content is challenging, so keep up with the work.
His class is the most well-ordered class I've ever taken, even the tests take a Heavy weight, but he really want to understanding. Class interesting, material ordered, class discussion, enough time to take notes.
Hard course, nice professor
Great lectures. Problem sets help with the exams.
This class is test heavy and be prepared for that. Professor Levin is a great and interesting professor that brings in real world problems to help us learn. Attendance is mandatory and if you missed one class, it obviously hard to catch up on the learning. Professor allows to bring in cheat sheet doubled sided which can be a help during the exams.
Hard class, prof is nice
Prof. Levin is excellent at teaching the material and explains concepts well. The class itself is difficult. Grade consists of 4 problem sets, participation, a midterm, and a final. Colds calls in class and posts slides right before the exam. Key to success is to go to lecture.
Knows his stuff, very difficult grader!
Generally a challenging class, you need to know the info. However, somewhat simple concepts and easy to understand if you go to lectures.
Oh my Oh my if you aren't ready for writing notes and taking hard exams I don't think you should take this class. Good guy? Absolutely but he will work you until you get it or regret becoming a student. But hey if you're up for a challenge go right ahead. 3 hard exams 4 long problem sets for homework throughout the semester.
Tough grader. Good dude!
This class is really hard, but I do like the professor. Very informative class though, interesting topics. The class is workload-heavy, and if you miss a lecture, it's a bit rough. You need to study, if you don't study you won't do well in this class. There is no study guide and no exact information.
Professor Levin is a great professor that cares about the material. It is very lecture heavy, so you shouldn't take the class expecting to be able to skip. The tests are hard, but he curves them.
This class is hard. Professor Levin will open with this at the start of the semester, and you should listen to him. It is not an easy A but it is an interesting class. If you come to lecture, actively take notes, and are engaged for the lectures then you will learn a lot and do well. One midterm and one final as well as four homeworks total.
Engaging lecturer, and helpful professor, who cares about students. That being said the exam policy for this course is intense, with two exams holding 75% of your grade. These tests saw extremely low averages, and if you are not prepared for extreme studying you are likely not prepared for this class.
He doesn't make exams easy because then it's easy and everyone passes, he makes it difficult to see who really pays attention.
Professor Levin is great. This is my second time taking one of his courses and I was scared at first because this one is known to be hard but if you put in the time, come to lectures and do the homework, you should be fine. The exams are hard but you get a cheat sheet and you most likely won't do good but he gives a heavy curve so it makes up.
Great professor, gives good engaging lectures even for difficult topics. Going to class is essential. Absolutely worth taking his class.
Great teacher, pleasure to have taken this course. I learned a lot about myself and more importantly others when it comes to decisions and being rational. Studying and attendance is required to do well in the class. Thank you so much professor Levin!
Professor Levin was one of the most passionate and knowledge professors I've taken at Uconn. He truly cares about his students, and takes his class seriously. If you don't care to work hard you'll have a hard time in the class. This class requires you to work hard and be diligent, if you attend class and ask questions you'll learn tons!
Professor Levin is very passionate about behavioral economics. Course is VERY difficult. Lectures are mandatory in succeeding. Pace of the course is fast & jam packed. Midterm/final based, with heavy time pressure on both. Professor Levin encourages participation and he has a great personality. Overall, enjoyed class but getting an A is hard.
Professor Levin is a great professor! Although this course itself is pretty difficult and not easy to fully comprehend at most points, he is very enthusiastic in his teaching style. Just be aware that the exams are very difficult, and worth good portion of your final grade.
Professor Levin is one of the most engaging professors I had at UConn. He is very knowledgeable and passionate about the subject. The lectures are quite heavy. The homeworks are time consuming but really helpful for the exams. He is quite strict with attending lectures. Definitely recommend all econ majors take. My favorite class hands down.
This class isn't easy, but if you go and put in effort, you can do well. He curves exams and class overall, and cares about students' learning. 1 was curved by 20 points, and there's lots of EC. There are 2 midterms and 4 problem sets. The HW is difficult and long-start early. The tests are long - there's time pressure, but you get a cheat sheet.
This class is tough and fast-paced, but the professor is passionate and really cares about students. The workload is heavy and missing a lecture makes it hard to keep up. Exams are long with time pressure, but there's a curve, extra credit, and a cheat sheet to help. You can do well if you stay consistent and put in effort.
Class is lecture heavy but as long as you show up and keep up to date with the material you will do great.
Great guy. He makes it clear from the start that the class is going to be difficult. Midterm and Final combine for a total of 75% of the final grade, but they are heavily curved and allow a cheat sheet. Paying attention during lectures is necessary to succeed.
Professor Levin keeps the class engaged throughout his lectures but his course is heavily weighted to the midterm and final, other than that it was a great course!
The professor is enthusiastic and the lecture is interesting. The test is difficult, but you can get fine grade if you engage in the course.
Professor Levin is one of the best professors I've ever had. He does expect your effort and participation, and in return he gives exceptionally clear lectures, opens the floor regularly to questions and answers them at length, and gives plenty of useful examples. Attendance is not mandatory, but is important. Tests are hard but well curved!
Mr. Levin is a genuinely great lecturer with super clear explanations, organized slides, and you can tell they really care about the material. That said, the class is definitely test-heavy, so you need to stay on top of the readings and practice problems. If you attend lectures and review, you'll learn a lot and do well, but don't expect an easy A
Really enjoyed Prof. Levin's lectures, he's super passionate about the topic and truly cares. He spends alot of time making sure you understand something if you ask a question. Exams are very hard and alot of time pressure (as he intends). If you don't go to lectures you will fail. Homeworks are long and I only found value in the Q's he wrote.
Remy Levin is one of the best professors I've had here at Uconn and I recommend you take him if you are an econ major or minor. He cares about his students and makes sure you understand what's going on. The grading is comprised of 2 exams, 4 homeworks, and some extra credit. If you do well on the homeworks and pay attention in class you'll be fine
This is a very hard class but he made it enjoyable and did his best to explain everything as much as he good but the material was still hard.
hard class, he's funny and cares but also makes tests crazy long. cold calls and you can't really miss class. notes have to be handwritten. cool material, difficult stuff. not an easy a
This class ain't easy, but I would say it's a class that you'll get the grade you deserve to get. The subjects are pretty tricky but Prof. L is super helpful with helping you understand everything if you ask questions. If you want an easy class, don't take this class, but if you want to learn something and actually retain it, take this class.
Personally I think this class is probably not passable if you don't attend the lectures. The material itself can be kind of hard and the exams are much harder, but they are directly based on going to class so if you're there and listen it should be easy to get a B or A in the class. \
Good instructor who cares about the material and helping students learn. Doesn't allow phones/laptops, but lectures are engaging enough that you don't lose interest. Homework is due every few weeks and is long but straightforward. The exams are very fast-paced but are fairly predictable content. The average is low but the curve balances that well.
Prof. Levin is a great professor and truly cares about the quality of his lectures and the quality of education that he is giving his students. If you show up, take notes, and participate, you will be fine. Levin makes it clear that this class is difficult from the first day. I am more interested in this subject than ever before thanks to Levin.
Go to lecture, ask questions before you fall behind, and you will be FINE. His lectures are great, the homework is reasonable, and the exams are curved to a very fair place. Would recommend this class.
Exams are tough, but the professor is a cool guy
Professor Levin is a great teacher who makes lectures understandable and engaging. The assignments are fair and students are given ample time to complete them. The exams are extremely difficult; However, he provides a generous curve. "You don't need to outrun the bear, you have to outrun your friends".
He is a great professor and always gives multiple chances for students to ask questions throughout lectures. The exams are tough, but he gives students the materials to do well. He keeps the class engaged.
The professor is a great guy and really tries to involve the class in every aspect of the course. But if you want to pass the class, you have to attend class and take really good notes. The exams are incredibly difficult, and you only have an hour and 15 minutes to finish them. He does give you a cheat sheet and curves the grades.
Difficult course and no laptops allowed, which seems harsh, but definitely helps in the long run. Super nice and helpful. If you pay attention you will be fine.
Prof Levin is a wonderful guy, very dedicated to behavioral economics and is very knowledgeable about the subject. The Exams are a little hard but overall you'll learn a lot in this course.
1 midterm (35%). 1 final (40%). 4 HW graded on completion, worth (20%). Participation is 5% but he cold calls in class. Interesting lectures but very hard exams. Attendance isn't really mandatory but he does not post the lecture slides until right before the exam. Don't take this class if you are not willing to put in the work to pass exams.
Very hard class. Attendance isn't mandatory; however, if you miss a class, you will miss a lot of material. The class moves very fast. Class is graded on a curve, but do not get overconfident because there is a very good chance you will still get a bad grade. Make sure you ask questions in the class and be ready to get pushed to your limits.
Professor Remy is such a good professor, I would take any of his classes again. The content was a little hard but I actually learnt so much about my major.
75% exams. probably the best econs prof i've had thus far. very very caring and clear in explanations. He ensures everyone understands before moving on and happily answers any questions. Only downside of the class is the lack of answer keys for the work, so you really have no idea if youre right or not (other than the textbook questions).
Class is difficult, but you will definitely going to gain something from it.
Definitely very knowledgeable about the topic and the slides weren't hard to follow , just make sure to pay attention and ask a lot of questions
Professor Levin is a very passionate professor who really cares about his students learning the material. Lectures were engaging and interesting, but there is a lot of material. Exams are extremely difficult. All in all he cares a lot about his students and wants them to succeed, you just have to be prepared to do a lot of work.
He doesn't make the slides available until ~4-5 days before the exam, so best advice is to go to class and actively take notes. Exams are difficult but if you study the material and practice the problem sets they should be alright. He allows a cheat sheet on exams as well and curves the exams.
