Rena explains math in the simplest terms which is great for a math-haters. she is SO nice and answers questions without making you seem stupid. TAKE HER!!

Really cool teacher, she's really good looking so you dont get too bored during class. She's pretty easy in terms of turning in homework. If you do your class work in class, sometimes she'll just say put an A on your paper. Her final is totally based off past tests.

Rena is the sweetest teacher @ moorpark. she is so helpful and explains everything so clearly, just do the homework study your notes from class and you will pass, she is always willing to help students who need it. her office door is always open. Take her she's the best, you won't regret it.

Great teacher but this year she decided to integrate online classes into her curriculum - BIG MISTAKE! When the average grade is a "D" on 4 of 7 tests, there is a problem, especially when the grades dropped as soon as the online classes started! The avg grade for the final was also a "D"! The material is just too complex to be taught online.

Would not have received an A in Calculus if it wasn't for her willingness to help outside of class, and clear way of explaining difficult concepts. Exellent teacher!

She cares about her students, she is easily accessed, very patient, and gives you enough material to feel you're really learning something. Gives you a ton of chances for extra credit. This professor really cares about her students. Her on-line class was really fun and I was able to contact her at anytime through the internet. Just make sure you keep up on the homework because you can easily fall behind, and once you have fallen to far behind in the work its hard to catch back up!!

I took Rena for her Online Intermediate Algebra Course and it was amazing. It takes ALOT of work (as does any math class) but not as much work as you think... Spent one day per week on homework, quizzes could be taken multiple times, and tests were graded loosely. Great class. Highly Recommend her!

Best math teacher. I haven't recieved an A in math since middle school. Goes over everything clearly and is willing to help if you don't understand. Tests are pretty easy. Plus drops lowest test and quiz(you can take them multiple times) Only thing negative is that she rushed to much during last two weeks of class, but is a must take class.

Took her online course. PROS: Extremely helpful. Teaches concepts very well. Her videos rule! Test prep sessions get you very ready for tests. CONS: Sometimes her videos weren't ready, meaning you had to use the textbook author videos. Lots of homework. VERDICT: Rena is the BEST, especially if you care to understand the material.

Great teacher. Very friendly, always willing to help. However, I took the online class and had to drop. This has nothing to do with her, I am just not disciplined enough to take an online math course. So if you are considering her online class, beware! It is very easy to fall behind.

She is the best math teacher I have ever had. She is totally willing to answer questions and go over anything you do not understand. I am taking her for every math class I can. She does go at a fast pace and has a lot of homework. But I am learning a lot in her class. I find her DVD's very helpful.

Rena is the sweetest prof at Moorpark! She has the demeanor of a first grade teacher with the knowledge of a college professor: perfect combo! She is so helpful and clear and she believes all her students have the potential to be A students. Lots of homework (that is how you learn math), 12 online quizes and 5 in-class exams make up your grade.

Rena is very kind hearted, very helpful and will take the time to make sure that you understand the work. She drops the lowest test score and quiz score. She does give a lot of homework work, but it is very helpful. Test's are not that hard and she does give partial credit for the work shown. Over all I would recommend taking her class.

I usually wait til the end of the semester to rate professors, but this is my second class with Rena and I am confident she will not disappoint. She will make you love math! Not sure why she doesn't have a 5.0 overall rating. I look forward to going to this class..yes, a math class! If you take an online hybrid with her, you have to be disciplined.

Rena is seriously the best teacher I have ever had in my whole life! Math has never been my strong point but she makes it so easy. She is very understanding, will work with you if need help. She also extends deadlines when there is a test. As long as you keep up with the homework you should pass with no problem!

I've been a math-moron all my life-I'm in my 50's now and was certain that I could NEVER do Algebra. I'm not only doing it, I'm doing well! This teacher is a miracle worker. I am in my 40's and have a very difficult time with math. I just will not go in my brain! Rena is an amazing teacher. Her videos are the best, you are able to watch them over and over again. She is amazing, the only math teacher who has been able to explain any concept in a way that I (someone who has been failing math since 5th grade) can understand. AMAZING Prof. Took her 2 semesters and would have loved to take her this coming semester but her class is closed. Rena is there for her students and she is easy as long as you show up for class and learn the material. She answered all my questions (even if she was out of town for the weekend). Really liked Rena. Supper nice lady! One of the best teachers I have had. She made learning math easy. She also has videos to show you how to solve the problems. I have always struggled in math. Professor Petrello's way of teaching math made me truly enjoy learning it. She makes everything so simple and relates it to the world. She is AMAZING!!!! Rena is an amazing professor! I took her compressed m01m09 class . We had ton's of hw assignments and went through chapters quickly but she was very clear and thorough in explaining the math problems and is more than happy to help students out if they did not understand the lesson. I took a combined math 09 and math 01 class with Rena, it was fast paced and a lot of work, but Rena was an amazing teacher. She was able to teach in way for people to understand. I have never liked math class, but it was very enjoyable. If you do the all the homework, extra credit, and put in the hours studying, you will pass.

I had Rena for M03. I truly feel if you want to learn, pass and succeed in this course than she is your only hope. She is probably the best professor on campus in every aspect. Rena is a great teacher. At times she can confuse u with 2 many examples. She sends you the test key after every test and offers some extra credit. Make sure u show up everyday. Great teacher can get a bit confusing at times but always there to help. Uses the ALEXS program which made me feel like I was being home schooled. ALEXS is an extremely frustrating website which makes homework take three times as long. I used to look forward to math and homework until using ALEXS. Wish we could just use the traditional textbook.

Her tests were problems she made on her own, does give partial credit, and replaces final exam score with your lowest test grade! I wish she taught stats

Prof. Petrello is an amazing. She taught the class very well and managed her time. It was because she had good notes and her lectures were understandable. What's good is that her test are hard, but totally manageable especially if you do all of your homework and review your notes. Not only is she a great prof, but she is also an amazing person.

She lets you know when tests and quizzes are and all the homework is not graded, but she only assigns homework you can check the answers to. Professor Petrello is the sweetest math professor you will ever have and actually cares about her students. The homework is not mandatory but I recommend doing it if you want to learn the material. She also offers extra credit usually for every test as an assignment to do before the test. The only downside is she often makes mistakes while teaching

She is a very caring teacher. Almost every test had one or two extra credit options at the end. She dropped the lowest two quizzes and replaced your lowest test grade with your final exam grade. Sometimes makes mistakes when solving problems on the board, but encourages students to correct her when she does(do this in a respectful manner).

Professor Petrello is an outstanding professor who takes as much time as possible to make sure that you understand the material and this clearly shows when the tests come around. Show up on time and listen through lectures. Although the lectures are slow, they are great introduction to the lesson subject. For tests, do the homework and test review. This will help you a great deal on the test. Tests are very fair and easy because they are based on how the homework is phrased. Don't memorize, understand what you are doing.

For a very difficult subject, Rena did a good job of explaining the material and is always there if you need help. She assigns a lot of homework but it the best way to study for her very difficult exams.

I hate math... but I loved Math M12 with Professor Petrello. She is so sweet and really helped make math enjoyable. Her lectures are fun, never boring, and you really learn a lot. There are so many life lessons I learned from M12. This is the kind of math that I will actually use. I wish I could have Professor Petrello for ALL of my math courses!

Homework is very simple although if you did not purchase the textbook you'll need to pay for this website where the homework is at. I paid 69 but in the end, she gives a lot of extra credit. Her projects are not difficult they're actually fun. Always attend the zoom meetings, it's worth about 145 points so your grade will drop.

Petrello is a very nice person. She does have some group projects, but they are set up to get to know your classmates. She does offer a good amount of extra credit, which is pretty nice. The class itself in my opinion is pretty easy, and you can tell she does care for her students.

This was the best math professor I've ever had. She is very nice and knows exactly what she's talking about. She explains things very well and there were no tests. You do have projects instead and have homework from the book. Textbook was $100, but I definitely recommend this class and this is a great class to take to learn math in the real world.

I was nervous coming into this course being that I have not done math in many years. I loved how this was not your "typical" math class. I also loved the fact that she let's you do a lot of extra credit and there is no real due dates. You work at your own pace. I was able to work weeks in advance, which was awesome!

She explains math logically and applicably, and tries to understand your personal logic and application--music, art, nature, etc. Pay attention to her lectures, do the homework (and the extra credit!), and communicate with her what you don't understand, and you will succeed in her class.
