Very good class. Everyone should take this for their diversity requirement. You learn alot and the whole class is mostly discussion so you can argue if you don't agree with stuff. Highly recommend.
This class is beyond easy. She even says in the first week that people take this class because it is so easy. Take it if you need an A.
Never wanted to miss class because it was so interesting. Learned ALOT and its easy :)
Beyond easy. Class discussions are pretty interesting as well. Very awesome, easy going, laid back teacher.
This class is for people who are a Women's Studies major so it is more difficult than the other course she teaches. I learned a lot and have become much smarter by taking this course
you don't have to be a genius to learn something in this class.
She is the best teacher. She isn't very organzied but she grades easily. You do have to participate in group discussion to get an A in the class but she is so nice. I learned so much. It's impossible to not pass her class. Take her, you won't regret it.
I was scared of taking women study class, cz I heard it's hard. But I end up taking another wmst class with her this summer. She is a great teacher. Unique way of teaching. Partcipation is very important in this class. Very easy, but u also learn a lot.
I LOVED Dr. Bredin! She is truly amazing and an inspiration. Be prepared to learn more than you ever thought possible. All topics discussed were truly riveting. It was simple but very soul searching material. I absolutely recommend her!

Renae is the best!
really good teacher. really easy class. you'll get an A if you do your work and theres not a lot of it. really interesting discussions in class. make sure you participate because she likes that.
i had dr. bredin for a required class 3 years ago and i seriously thank her for the experience i had in the class. very chill and totally open discussion time (i just remembered to do the reading). she had bro jocks calling women 'young ladies' and not 'chicks' by the end of the class...brilliant!!!!!
Renae is really easy going and a wonderful person. She is the best reason to become a women's studies major. take any and all of her classes!!!
Dr. B is such an insightful teacher. She is very open-minded and just wants the class to be real and participate. If you have an opinion go for it and say it, she really cares about the classes opinion. She treats the class like equals and is laid-back. Makes learning so much fun.
renae is the best ever. she allows you to take charge of your education, putting the syllabus to a vote, you decide what youre going to study, how youre going to study it, and how shes going to be able to assess how well you did. shes also willing to help whenever she can and shes really lienent
Renae is an amazing teacher. She treats her students as adults and really gets you think about how the world works and about gender. You watch some awsome movies (like Full Metal Jacket) and have rather insightful and challenging discussions. I would definitely recommed taking her class... oh, and it is a super easy A!
you make your own syllubus on the first day of class and even though attendence isn't *required* it doesn't mean that she won't count your *lack of input towards discussions* against you. She has ALOT of strong opinions and she will make sure you are aware of them. Go to class, speak up alot, get a good group
This professor is brilliant! She uses a feminist pedagogy that allows for flexibility. She is very helpful and encourages discourse and questions in class. If you want to really learn and have it be enjoyable at the same time, then this is a great professor to take a class with!
I took the online class which is fairly easy. Just make sure your organized and keep track with the dates. Alough the assignments are easy, missing a few can screw up your grade due to there being a limited # of points in the class.I forgot to do the visual assignment which was only 20pts and dropped a whole letter grade. Realy recomend teacher!
ONLY THE BEST TEACHER EEEEVVVVVEEEERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!! Seriously can't say more. Wish she taught all my classes!
She's an awesome professor. The class in insanely easy because you get to make you own syllabus, plus her lectures are reall insightful. She definately teach you to see the world differently. If you're someone who's really conservative and offended easily, you probably don't want to take her
She is really cool. Let's you make your own syllabus and leads really cool discussions!
She is the best! Take her!
I'm not sure where she stores all her knowledge because she has a lot! The class discussions are never boring! She's big on class participation and DO THE READING! The reading is easy and very interesting. If you put in some effort, you cannot fail her class! She is awesome, brilliant, funny, approachable and hot too (not that I'm objectifying)!
Wow. Prof. Bredin changed my life. Great class, great readings, and YOWZAH! she's hott!
She lets you build your own syllabus so you don't end up doing any work you don't want to do. We also did a drag show and she dressed like a student, so awesome.
One of the best things to ever come out of Cody, Wyoming.
Online class, Dr. Bredin is a easy to understand, very polite and generous at grading. Pretty easy going class even for non-majors.
Online class and it was very easy. She is extremely clear on assignments and is very helpful if you ever have questions or problems. She is smart and passionate about her subject. I loved her class!!
This class was great. she helped me think bout differetn concepts in life in a whole new way. Very easy class she lets you choose the syllabus and lets u have control of the class. We also got to have 2 parties
Online class. Professor was very clear, very easy, very nice, and always available for help. Fun class.
Took this class online... Weekly discussion board posts and readings. 5 Reading response questions. One essay at the end. No midterm. No final. If you do the work, you'll get an A.
This teacher is great. I needed a GE class so i decided to take this class and i acctually learned a lot. I took her online class. easy class i got an A. Just participate and you will be fine. No final or Midterm nor, tests!!!!!! take it!
This professor was really easy! Take her online class and you will get an A as long as you participate!
I did the online class, and it was super easy and actually interesting. This class is very simple, if you do the work, you will be fine. If you don't do the work, you will have a hard time. She is very helpful by providing lots of extra credit. And she always e-mails back within a couple of hours. Take this class, it is easy and fun!
Easy A. Just do the assignments and everything will be fine. Perfect GE class
Hands down Bredin is the second best wmst prof ever. She sooo funny and chill she doesn't even care about points as long as you participate in class. readings are hard but interesting and class projects get you thinking got a A very easy and fun you won't regret taking her :)
Professor Bredin was awesome! As a class you got to design your syllabus and then no tests, essays or quizzes. Mostly did little group projects and talk about articles as a class! Would take her again!
I took the Online class. Was intimidated by the discussion boards at first but she doesn't require that much and you will still get credit. TAKE THIS CLASS. Just do it.
Film and Feminism is super fun class. You will never look at films the same way again. Very interesting class discussions.
Class discussion. Many interesting films you watch. Lots of readings. Two projects. Class discussions. She makes you think outside the box. Fun course. Take as many classes with her as you can.
Is this class easy in terms of grading? Yes. Is Bredin an easy professor? No. She will challenge you to think & discuss & rethink & question everything around you. Sessions are all discussion & once everyone settles in class becomes fun. A lot of reading/movie watching to complete. 2 easy projects. If you like to think, please take this course!
If you're looking for an easy yet interesting online class then take her. No tests only 2 projects and discussion posts every week. Take her!
This is NOT an easy gen ed class. I wanted something easy and online before graduation and this was the wrong choice. You have to make 4 discussion posts every week and the topics are unclear and confusing. There are also 2 projects and 2 extra posts that are due. LOTS OF READING! LOTS! Multiples articles 20+ pages every week to read.
She's an amazing professor! A lot to read (online and provided for free) but they are very interesting readings and pertain to the discussions she has in class. No textbook needed either! I loved this class and definitely would take her again.
Definitely not an easy class. I agree with the last 302 review. There are a lot of articles that she makes you read. You have to post 4 times a week and her clarity regarding the posts were very confusing and is the reason I missed out on an A! You also have a few projects to do for the midterm and final. Look somewhere else for the easy 300 class
She is the best teacher ever! She really entertains you by her rants. Half the time she is ranting about something wrong in the society. She has no problem speaking her mind! Easy A if you just do your assignments(not much) and talk in discussions. Sometimes there is a lot of reading but you also watch movies and have parties!
Very interesting class! I enjoyed all the movies and articles. You have to really do the work to earn an A.
This professor is sweet and understanding. I took her online, she is responsive to emails. She carries with her positive vibes.Readings/FILMS are all interesting. Even if you do not want to read the articles and journals that she provides, you will anyways because it is so informative and interesting. Male and female should both consider this class
it was an honor to take this last wgst class with Bredin especially since she likes to challenges her students and lets us lead the lectures. I admit the readings weren't easy especially since it was 10+ documents readings per week and they were difficult, but it a 400 level course. Overall Bredin is the best professor and would take over again.
Taking her for WGST 100, a lot of reading to do in four days. My 300 level classes don't even require this much reading. She only gives you a week and a half to submit a midterm project. There is a final. Not as easy as everyone says it is.
This class is not your average 100 class. She actually makes you think about the subject, and makes you engage in discussions about assigned topics and makes you refrain from personal opinion. I enjoyed this class - you have to work for an A. Lots of reading and videos to watch. The teacher is there to help if you need it.
Apparently her in person class is good but you want to avoid her online class. 100 points total. 15 weekly discussion 5 points each top 10 counted, weekly participation 1 point each, 15 mid semester project, 20 point final. She grades the weekly discussions very harshly. She treats this class like we're all WGST majors when it's a GE class.
Discussions every week require a lot of reading and sometimes a film or 2. Can't use opinion or assumptions. You really have to think and analyze the readings. Final was a 2 pg essay single spaced and midterm was slideshow of art and how it relates to class or 3-4 pg story of topic related to class single spaced. Lots of work and thinking required
There is a lot to readwatch for this class but you have plenty of time to do it. There is one project, and you have your responsespeer responses due every week. She is very helpful if you need her, she responds to emails fast. Do not slack off in this class just because it's online. If you participate, it'll benefit you at the end of semester.
Her weekly discussions are worth half the class, lowest 5 dropped. She grades harshly at the beginning but lightens up later on to encourage you to participate in all 15 discussions. Her mid semester project was a bit hard. Her final project is 2000 words analysis which is an easy perfect score if you put in the effort and proofread it.
Professor Bredin has interesting texts to read and movies to watch but she does grade harshly. Her midterm project was fairly easy if you put work into it, and the final is an essay. Weekly discussions make up the most points.
I took WGST 100 online, thinking it would be an easy class and a GE to get out of the way. This class is impossible if you are otherwise a full time student, full time employee or have any kind of life. She posts A LOT of lectures/readings/texts/movies per week, and you must write the equivilant of a short essay due on thursdays. It's horrible.
There is a lot of reading involved, but overall it is a very easy class. The readings and films were interesting and somewhat entertaining. This recommended if you are in need of credits.
This class was very interesting. I learned a lot not just about women but also about other genders. The only huge downside to the teacher is that she grades harshly on the discussion forums. What she wants on her assignments is a lot of analysis. Because of this class I am taking another class in this field next semester. Also no textbook.
At first I hated this class, but I did learn a lot and the forum posts really aren't that hard. She will grade you very low if you put your OPINION, so just stay away from personal opinion and you'll get A's. The class is simple: one post each week due Mondays and reply to 4 other students by Thursday. No tests, and one term long project. Easy!
Dr. Bredin is an amazing professor! If you want a quick and easy class, try to take WGST 360 online with her! Though it's online, the topics and readers were very interesting! My favorite online class ever!
This course is not as easy at it seems. However, it does pay off at the end. 5 week summer course, intensive reading! Must know all material to write good discussion forums but hard part is Media Dictionary! Overall, I thought I wasn't going to pass the class but I did.
This was the easiest A I have ever gotten in college. I showed up to class 3 times, twice in the beginning and one at the end and still passed with flying colors. Her class is based on discussion, and weekly modules that have to be turned in online, followed by a skype video call to the professor to show that your group is there.
Taking this as an elective. Good class, but take caution. This class contains A. LOT. of reading material in a week. One week can have up to 4 readings, 2 films, a short video, and the chapter powerpoint, ALL before being able to post your 5 discussion post. I've never had a class that required this much work; Stay on top of it, and you'll be okay.
I took WGST302 online and wasn't pleased with the way she handled grading. She gave no feedback; you either got the point our you didn't. She's big on not putting your personal opinion, but rather "analyzing" the material. Unfortunately, those lines are blurry and easy to cross. With no feedback, I never knew if I was on the right track or not.
I took her for winter session, and regardless of the extensive reading, it was rather enjoyable. I am not the best writer either, but as long as you summarize and steer away from your personal opinion and back up your writing with facts; you will be fine. If you are not a lazy student, you will do just great in her class. Easy A if you do the work.
Took this class online and needed to post five times a week. The posts need to be on the material and not personal opinions which can be difficult because the issues are easy to relate to. Do the work and follow the syllabus and you should be fine. Remember to NOT post personal opinions just give a summary and key points of the reading.
I took this over the winter break, fully online. I selected the easy A for the difficulty, but there is one caveat to that: you have to actually do the work. A couple of the weeks were heavier than the rest, including one that had 4 full length films to watch. Overall very enjoyable though. NO BOOK, she uploads required readings in Titanium.
I enjoyed Prof. Bredin as a teacher. She was accessible through email and obviously very knowledgeable and passionate about her field.
I took her online class, and what a mess. She gave feedback in class emails only vaguing students on what they did wrong . Lots of online posting and reading material. NO personal opinions! And NO outside sources! Just regurgitating material provided. Seriously what a shame, could have been a great class on an important topic.
I took this online class summer 2019. Readings and videos on titanium are eye opening and easy to digest. Class consists of 4 discussion posts, 2 group papers, 1 midterm paper, and a final newsletter style paper. Dr. Bredin is very clear about her expectations and grades quickly with feedback. EC paper offered. Overall an enjoyable class. Loved it!
This class was more work compared to my other upper division WGST classes. Graded by attendance which is 3 discussion posts a week, a midterm and final paper. Also two reading responses. The class material is really boring and the professor is very picky about everything, even word counts. Lots of work for being an intro class.
She assigns a lot of readings and lectures, tougher class than my 300 level ones. She is not descriptive when she gives you a grade for an assignment. This class is difficult if you are a full-time student.
lots of reading, each week we had to go through a PowerPoint plus read pages from books and sources, the pages add up. Some weeks it would be 50-60 extra pages and some weeks it would be 20. You also have to watch movies, but they're boring. all the assignments are 3 points :/ Lots of work for an intro class...
She is the worst. She continues to be incredibly vague with her feedback and grading. She is rude (condescending) to her students when asked for clarification behind her criticism. She WILL give you a 0 if she thinks your writing is not up to par with her criteria. HOWEVER, she will NOT help you understand why, it's like saying "do better".
The worst teacher I've had. Grades VERY harshly and gives no explanation as to why she gave you the grade that she did. The class average for most assignments is below 65%. I don't even see the point in trying in this class.
ALOT of reading she first has you read the lecture which ranges from 20-50 pgs, on top of that 3-6 outside readings some are short only 10 pgs some are 30 & some weeks she adds movies. each week we have 1 discussion with 2 peer responses which are worth 3 pts where you can't state your opinion even once if you do automatic 0, hard discussion "?"'s.
Really hard on grading discussion posts but I aced them bcuz I really focused on the prompts & knew that the answer she wants from you is in the lectures (w/out your opinion). She wasn't easy but in the end, I did see the points she was trying to make about being a human gendered being. If you're looking for easy: avoid. Lots of movies & reading.
took this class coz i could not find any other classes available, and this class was so heavy on reading!! assignments are fairly easy, 10 discussion posts with two replies, and papers on midterm/final, and a zoom discussion meeting so make sure u know ur stuff when u show up!!! seems like a very nice prof but shes heavy heavy work!!!
As someone else said in the comments, I was not a fan of this class at first because of the number of difficult readings. However, once you get past that you actually learn a lot in the class. Be sure to avoid any opinions in your responses or you'll receive no credit. Every response matters because few points are given for each discussion post.
Was lucky to get a good grade in this class and its all because I kind of wrote my discussions/papers on how she wants it to sound. Make sure not to put your opinions on anything and rely heavily on course contents. lots of hard reading, but if u read here and there it'll help you with assignments. too much work for an intro class, didnt learn much
Given, that it's an introductory course, reading/lecture material is very extensive. Discussion post every week with a pretty general prompt, stick to quoting readings and NOT stating personal opinions. Consistently interesting topics that require you to gain your own understanding because she will rarely go over them. She's a cool professor.
This professor wasn't easy, but you won't forget her. She has taught me to think so outside of the box, I literally noticed myself get smarter after taking her class. At the beginning of the semester, I literally dreaded doing the homework for the class because it seemed like a lot of work, however, it was worth it in the end.
I took her online for Spring 2022. Her online lectures were a lot to read but in reality, no one reads every single article. There was a discussion post every week and then like 3 zooms throughout the whole course that would follow the modules. She is very kind, funny, and encourages your insights. She also gives great feedback and replies quickly.
I am not even done with this class yet but I want to write this review. Read the other comments before enrolling in this class. Sadly I didn't. You would think a professor with a rating of 4.4 would be easy and it is a 100-level class. HOWEVER, this is not the case. I AM doing more work than in my upper division classes.
Rude overall, she expects too much for a 100 course.
there is just way too much reading and films for a level 100 class. I was going to take this for credit after already taking WGST 205 and this prof is just rude. He language is hard to understand and assignment requirements are vague
VERY READING INTENSIVE. You need to complete readings of multiple papers and finish discussion posts every Wednesday and Friday. Despite this, I learned A LOT in terms of society, gender, identity, etc. You will think out of the box with this class. Do not take if you do not think you can read many papers per week. She is personable. Good luck :)
Class is very reading heavy, and you have to teach yourself the material. As for the professor, she is not very understanding and accommodating. Good luck teaching yourself!
You're allowed to skip a lecture per module so review her syllabus (homework/schedule included) and skip what's appropriate for you. If you received a subpar grade, she tells you what you could do to improve but is vague. Final was a 1000+ word essay that she was vague about too. Quite lively over zoom calls though -- she does most of the talking.
Her class is very straight forward, and your experience in this class imo depends on the type of student you are. You have to do discussion boards from a fully analytical standpoint to get full credit. There's a lot of readings, and certain weeks will have a TON of readings, but we're allowed to skip a week of work per unit, so plan accordingly.
asynchronous class, weekly readings with discussion boards but you are allowed to skip one week per unit. only required to meet for zoom convos about a certain unit of your choosing. you come in with a question, but it's more of her talking about the material and you pitching in the convo a little. final is just a review essay on what you learned.
I have not finished the class but so far its whack. this professor grades the discussions like essay questions even though they are like 5 points. Her instructions are also confusing at times.
Pretty difficult so far. She is very strict on not using your opinion in the discussions but doesn't give much feedback when she gives you a bad grade. Multiple readings that are pages long and films you must watch each week if you want to get a good grade. She is nice but a harsh grader.
I typically excel in challenging environments & maintain good rapport with professors. This particular professor proved difficult despite efforts to collaborate, she exhibited negativity and inflexibility & claiming openness to feedback, she dismissed suggestions. I don't recommend her she fails to adapt to student needs. Horrible.
Be ready to read and watch films every week. I do wanna say that she's a tough grader, doesn't like opinions when it comes with discussions and even the zoom conversation. For this class it's MANDATORY to do ONE zoom conversation. But each module, you're allowed to skip discussions, which to be honest it does help. Anna do good, avoid opinions.
This professor is very difficult, she said herself she didn't like the class. So much reading and videos expected for a 100 level course. She claims she's open for notes but never does anything about them, it feels like she gave up herself on the course.
you cant even see your grade the whole semester because she locks it which is so weird
We had weekly discussions and she let us skip one discussion per module which I found helpful. She doesn't like you writing your opinion on the discussions, and you have to reply to peers to receive credit. She is a picky grader with the discussions and assigns a bunch of readings and videos to watch. The final was an essay about what we learned.
i wanted to like this class and if it helps, i did learn a few things but overall i had such a hard time trying to appease her requirements. shes a very strict grader and wont give you clear feedback. i would say to take someone else.
Taking this class is kinda funny bc you'll struggle so much and try so hard to get a good grade on your transcripts. But once you see it there you realize that none of it was worth it. Do yourself a favor and take a different professor.
The toughest task was staying on top of the reading, beware that the online asynchronous class is extremely lecture heavy and a lot of documents to read. The topic itself is interesting and it consists of 4 reading responses (200 words), midterm, and a final. Just follow her instructions and you'll get a perfect score and get complimented like me.
The class is challenging, with strict grading and unclear feedback. However, using study tools like unstuck AI alongside the required readings and videos can help navigate the course. The professor's inflexibility makes it a tough but rewarding experience.
Easy asynch course - just a few reading responses based on lectures, which are usually very long. Final is a 1000-word essay on what specifically you learned throughout the semester. Extra credit offered where you make a "final lecture". Her grading sometimes said I wasn't specific enough to the lectures when I'm sure I was. Cool professor though.
Writing assignments are strictly graded, no use of opinion and interpretation of the many readings is allowed. While difficult at first, you'll learn critical thinking and analysis. Very rewarding when completed and is a very interesting topic. Take this class if you're genuinely interested in the topic it'll be rewarding and you'll learn a lot!!
