Professor Choy by the way isn't an Asian woman like I thought, he is Cuban and is damn proud of it. If you want to learn and earn your grade Professor Choy is the one. He will take his time to tutor you durning his office hours if you don't understand the material. I struggled but I made it because of his tutoring. Professor Choy is AWESOME!!!!!

His tests are hard. I didn't do so well on the first two test, the only thing that saved my grade was actually studying from the textbook, using the notes from class and the study review sheets for the final. Also, there are projects and extra credit, which if you put some effort you'll do fine on them. Overall, he was a good professor. take him.

okay so he's kinda cute. but thats beside the point his class is not cake but if u copy down all the notes from the powerpoint then there's no way u'll fail. make sure ur always in class or at least copy the notes from someone when ur absent. he's very helpful and his classes are a blast . .

If your a type of person who doesnt like to read your notes and just listen to him dont take him. His class is ok. The subject was hard, he gave alot of notes but the test were super hard. His grading is strict, 3 test 3 projects every test does have extra credit 10 points which you can get by answering 10 questions right but its hard.

First of all, do not buy the book. Copy all his notes and study them hard and you'll do fine on his tests.His class is not hard at all. There is also some papers you have to write but they aren't hard. I would recommend him

he is a good teacher. 3 hw and 3 exams. hw is only 5 % so your final grade is based mainly in exams. exams are not easy, but you have to study (not just the definition but also the concept)!! he gives extra credit assignment for each exam (its worth 10 points) and it can bust up your exam grade one letter up. i recommend him.

He's good overall. I gotta C in 6 week course. it was pretty tough material which can't be taken in 6 weeks. recommend him over the fall or spring semesters. he's not bad but some stuff is pretty difficult.

One of the best teachers I ever had! 3 tests. 1 project. if you take notes in class and study the review sheet for each test, you'll past. Easy project. Class is very interesting and he is very organized and flexible. AWESOME!

Professor Choy is organized and to the point. His notes come out of the book, but I paid a lot of money for it and I like the fact he uses it. You don't really have to buy the book if you take very good notes. Overall I liked his class, he is flexible and down to earth, will recommend.

I think he is a really good profesor he made the classes very intereting and entertaining. He teaches you not only so you can pass the exam but also so you can leave the class with at least some knodlege of the subjet, people that don't like him is because they don't like economics or they don't like to study.

He tells you straight up in the beginning the passing rate for the class is low.He is not one of the teachers to give you a grade he makes you work for it through the test.Yes the tests arent hard but if you study you can pass them.You can pass the test with his notes. He won't say whether the textbook is needed or not, but it isn't mandatory. I'd say with the help of MyEconLab (which IS mandatory), you don't need the textbook. Always willing to explain everything. Funny and compares charts to real-life situations that anyone can easily comprehend. Heavy on notes, tests are closed-book & closed notes. Loves cars.

Mr Rene Choy has been one of the best professor in Miami Dade. I like him . he is super nice , honest . If you copy everything and study , you can get an A OR B . Dont be scared of Rene Choy.

Mr. Choy is not Chinese, however he is a great professor. He knows his Economics and presents clear power point lectures. Take good notes and you should be able to pass with an A or B.

I took him for Macro and Micro Economics, and he's just great. Very friendly personality. He has an excel spreadsheet on his website that lets you calculate your exact grade whenever you want. A lot of writing notes, but they're extremely helpful. Attendance is vital because his lectures help a lot. Overall, I highly recommend.

I Totally LOVE this Professor! He is one of the best teachers I've ever got! His classes are very interesting, but you'll have to study A LOT! And you will need the textbook! I highly recomment him, becuase you will learn EVERYTHING from macroeconomics to recent economics news.

This Professor is awesome, he almost always gives a 10 point curve on the tests. Also, he is willing to help you during his office hours with anything that you might need. He also has an excel grade calculator on his website to help you figure out your grade whenever you want.

He is not super hard but not super easy either. His lectures aren't really worth listening to since you can understand from self studying. HIS TESTS ARE HARD so you need to spend alot of time studying his notes and going over the chapters in the textbook. You will be okay if you have a high percentage on myeconlab and do extra credit assignments.

If you care about your future you take this class. If you pay attention you will learn valuable stuff. It is not the easiest stuff, but definitely doable if you take notes and read. The challenge was refreshing even then with some effort I got a B.

He's a nice enough guy. Attendance is taken every class. You have to do a MyEconLab assignment every week. He has 3 current events and then a small number of quizzes and tests. If you're focused and you study then you should be fine. To be honest, you could just learn from the book but attendance is apart of your grade so you should go to class.

Tough class sure. You learn plenty in this class, even if you do not do well. Would certainly recommend. Study ahead of time and read the notes many times. If you want an easy grade, take another class, if you want to learn take him.

This class is straight forward. Come to class to get your notes. He allows 2 absences. The material is current & up to date. Read your note & study. There is no way you can fail. You come out this class learning a lot more than just economics.

He's a great economics professor. To pass his class, you really need to pay attention and read the notes. Everything is from the PowerPoints, he explains and gives examples. His test are long and hard ( if u don't study duh!) Turn in current events on time, do H.W and tests online on time. He's very nice, he gets to class on time. He's very HOT!!!!

He's a great professor. Pretty funny, very knowledgeable of economics, and finds it easy to relate to students. He also makes the class interesting by tying the work to real-world examples. However, this class is no joke. You still have to study and read the book a lot. Do not take his easygoing lectures as the class being easy itself.

Great Professor. Class revolves around 3 articles 3 tests the eco lab and attendance. The best thing you can do is get a high A on 1 of the tests, 100 in attendance, and an A in all articleseco lab assignments. If you are looking for an easy class, this is not for you. If you actually want to learn then look no further. Professor Choy gives very helpful and clear lectures (with illustrations) and relates them to real life current events. As long as you take his class serious it would be pretty dificult to fail. 3 exams + optional final. 1 major project. It was an investment portfolio. It was actually pretty fun, just difficult to write a 10 page paper at the end about it. In class he uses real life situations and current events to show how the material is applied in life, so he makes it easy to understand. Great professor, would recommend.

READ THE TEXTBOOK!!! It is none sense to say that the course is hard if you never read the book. I studied the course by reading the textbook and doing the homework he assigned. His lecture during the class will strengthen your understanding, and broaden your knowledge besides the book. I learned a lot from his class.

I dual enrolled and took him at PBSC Gardens 4 micro, funny guy not easy. Must read the chps before class & take notes and have book 4 long lecture. I only needed this class as a pre-req. I have no interest in economics. With that being said Choy is a great professor. He explains what you need to know for the test and gives good examples. Honestly, I didnt take notes. I just sat down and listened to the man talk and it worked out fine for me. Just show up and pay attention and youll be fine.

Professor Choy is not the easiest professor as far as tests go but he is an amazing teacher and is very accessible during office hours. If you really make the effort and spend real time studying for his class with the notes he gives, you should be fine.

His teaching style involves mostly power point but he explains the material very well. Dedicate the time to take good notes, do your HW well and study. Your grade will thank you. Unfortunately I had to retake the class with another Prof but still using my notes from his class to help me understand what in the world this other Prof is teaching.

Yes, he is lecture heavy but explains everything so well. His tests are rough and you really have to study. Do all the online homeworks and quizzes and that will help your grade. He also throws some jokes here and there, he makes you really think about things. I enjoyed his classes, if I could, I would take him again.

Awesome professor, I really enjoyed his lectures and most of the homework and quizzes are online. As for his exams, he allowed our class to have a cheat sheet of whatever we wanted to put on the paper. I had both Macro and Micro with him, loved both classes.

I withdrew from Professor Choy's class and got a W grade. His class is tough, I guess I bit off more than I can chew. He has clear grading criteria and an amazing lecturer. I didn't do good but he gave me the tools to do so. I plan on re-taking his class soon when I can balance an easy schedule and his hard class. I recommend him, he's awesome.

The class is now online but he is an excellent professor even online, has has a lot of his material available in YouTube so it makes it perfect to learn on your own time. He very approachable and willing to help. If you want to take an excellent intro to economics class, he is one of the best.

A few current events and 4 test that you get to bring half a sheet of what ever you feel will help you and he curves the grade according to the class average. He uses a PowerPoint but explains thoroughly on the board and theres also Pearson homework.

However, if you do have questions you can easily contact him through his email or on blackboard on the days and time you have his class. Just do your work and you'll be set.

Professor Choy give you a very clear syllabus depending what class your in. I took him for both eco 2013&2023. The class is amazing & youll learn a lot from his YT vids. 10 attendance Discussion boards, Cengage Hw, Quizzes, 3Tests + an optional makeup test. Everything is spaced out & gives you enough time to do,gives ppts & available for questions

Professor Choy made this class simple by making it asynchronously with YouTube videos for each chapter. We had three exams along with an optional final, three quizzes, a homework assignment for each chapter, and ten discussion board questions which counted as a participation grade. As long as you meet deadlines, you'll be fine.

The professor is excellent. He has office hours, so we don't have to meet. He lectures with videos online, and that's how we do the assignments and tests. There is no book; there is a Pearson subscription for the class. He measures attendance by the discussion boards, so make sure you do it at least once a week; there were ten. Overall, he's good.

The class is supposed to be hard, its microeconomics! Prof Choy is amazing, and you definitely will understand the material, and actually learn a few interesting things. Discussion board gives you attendance, homework, quizzes (3), and tests (4). The last test is optional, and will dropped the lower score on any of the tests 1-3.

Definitely by far the best professor I've had while attending MDC! His lectures were very informative and gives great real world examples while explaining. I was scared to take macro initially but he broke it down to where it looks easy. Hw is easy and similar to exams, final is optional. Discussion boards can count as attendance. Great Professor!!

Rene Choy is one of the greatest teacher mdc could have. I had him for ECO2013 he was very nice. He gave 3 exams, 3 essays, and Pearson's assignments, everything were on Pearson. I hate essays but I got a B for the class. And take 2times for the next semester. I recommend him

Professor Choy gives great lectures and has PowerPoints and videos if you need more explanation. The workload for this class is not too heavy and he is flexible and understanding. He is hilarious in person and creates a nice atmosphere in the class room. As long as you do the work on time you should be good.

The class was hybrid, meaning you didnt have to be in class, and he had all of his lectures were on YouTube. The homework was a bit intense, and the tests covered everything.

Exercises and Quizzes on MyLab with multiple attempts. The hardest part: Exam questions not taught in lectures or Quiz so Must read book & do exercises in book if you want A.

He's a good professor but you really have to organize yourself. He doesn't make attendance mandatory which tempts you to not attend the meetings at all and then it can get hectic. The exams are the hardest part, most of it isn't even in the lectures. Gordon rule class so there's 3 current event papers that are MANDATORY. Overall, decent class.

He is one of the best professors I've ever taken. He genuinely cares about his students and makes lectures interesting. He also provides external material like videos and PowerPoints. The class itself isn't hard if you pay attention to the PowerPoints, and there will be a project at the end of the semester. He's flexible with attendance.

I took two classes (macro-economics, Business Statics) with professor Choy, in different semester. The lectures are pre-recorder lectures, and will provide the information that you need on the quizzes and test. The test are not proctor but you definitely would have to watch the video or attend to the live classes to be able to do well on the test.

I took this class on MDC Live. He has pre-recorded lectures available on YouTube as well as the regular lectures given throughout the course. All you have to do is study and stay up to date with completing the homework and discussion board assignments, and do well on the tests to pass. It's a very easy class.

Super easy class, attendance is optional. One homework assignment on pearson and one discussion post a week. Nothing is procotored. and if for whatever reason you need extra info to finish an assignment, all his lectures are recorded and he replies very quickly to emails.

Professor Choy was an easy class. His class was blended for me and I showed up 1-2 times in person and stayed home for the rest. Assignments were online so you don't really need to come in person. You should do at least 3 dissusion boards to pass the class and DO NOT wait last minute to do it. Super nice and get teacher, would take again!

I love Professor Choy. I cannot explain how fun was his class. He doesn't make it boring. I have taken his macro and micro classes online before, but this was my first one in person, and was 100% worth it. Dont limit yourself to take it through MDC life it's way better in person, plus if you go to the classroom you don't have to do the discussions.

Easily one of the most easy going and sweetest professors that MDC has left. If you fail this class, it's because you genuinely didn't try at ALL. Class is composed of (4) exams, the 4th one being optional and a substitute for lowest exam grade. MYLAB homework all due at the end of semester, and discussion posts on canvas. He makes it easy to pass.

Great guy, clear lecture explanations, attendance graded through weekly short essays, HW due at the end of the semester, 3 quizzes, 3 tests, quizzes are harder than tests but you get 4 tries.

Professor Choy is a great economics professor. He is very organized and grades in a timely manner. The objectives for the class are clear on the syllabus and the schedule of the class is easy to follow. There's a good pace of the assignments and it's not a hard class at all. It's up to you whether you want to succeed.

I took Professor Choy for ECO2023 and ECO2013. AMAZING teacher and person, he actually teaches you and wants you to learn. I had him both online and in person, and would take both classes with him again if I could. In my opinion he's the best professor i've had!

Choy was great! Sl.uper respectful and knowledgeable about his subject! If you miss a class, you can make up your attendance by doing the weekly discussion board. Homework is hefty if you procrastinate. His lectures were informative, clear, and easy to follow. Be sure to ask questions! He will happily answer them for you and help you understand.

Updated review: Professor Choy is my favorite professor thus far. His lectures are amazing, and he ensures you understand the concepts by applying them to real-life situations. I have now taken Professor Choy for three different classes, ECO2013, ECO2023, and QMB2100. Only good things to say about him. I recommend anyone to take him.

Easily one of the best professors MDC has left so far, super understanding and easy going, I've taken him both for 2013 and 2023, he actually knows what he's teaching and has some fun lectures. MYLAB homework(13HWKs and 13 discussion posts), 3 exams no camera proctored, one optional final exam to drop worst exam grade. 100% recommend.

Professor Choy is very direct but easy going professor, clear expectations and very organized. The lectures were easy to follow, no crazy long assignments. All we had were about 14 discussion post that can be done throughout the semester ,my lab and 4 test non-proctored . 4th test being optional. Overall 10/10 I'm taking him again for Macro.
