Dr. Elms is the best professor I've had. She is SUPER helpful, very nice, very clear about assignments, and she's understanding. She always helps students and gave us extra credit often. I wish I could take her for every class. Although Engr 112 is a lot of work, she helps make it bearable and actually helps you learn.
Dr. Elms was an awesome professor. Very laid back and often made the homework assignments count as extra credit. Her TA's are very lenient graders. A huge relief after taking 111. Would most certainly recommend.
Dr. Elms is incredible. An amazing teacher considering it was her first semester teaching in college.
Would love to have her for all my classes!
Dr. Elms is by far the best engineering professor!! She explained everything in a simplified way and was very understanding/helpful. Quite possibly the nicest person I've ever met. 100% recommend her. If you can get her, SERIOUSLY TAKE HER
She is the nicest professor you'll ever have. She made our class 10 pecan pies on PI day. She is a really easy grader and truly cares about the students learning the material and doing well. While the class itself is tedious and time consuming, she tries to give lots of extra credit to help and grade easier. TAKE HER AT ALL COSTS
Prof. Elms was by far the best professor I've had on campus. She's super nice, cares about her students, makes her lectures fun and cracks a lot of jokes. She's very helpful, smart and understanding. If you ever need help she will talk with you until you understand the subject material & she wants to get to know each and every one of her students.
Dr. Elms was my 289 professor my freshman year and she was the best. She was willing to extend due dates if needed and always answered all of your questions. I would highly recommend doing all of the homework, and attending recitation to get easy grades! Take her if possible!
Dr. Elms is probably one of the nicest professors on campus. She is genuinely cares for her students and even makes an effort to remember names in somewhat large classes. She tries to make class fun and is a great teacher. I highly recommend taking her if you can
Dr. Elms is among the best teachers I've ever had. She cares so so much about her students, she learns everyone's name, and will do whatever it takes for you to understand the material. If you don't do well in her class it's simply a lack on the students part. She goes above and beyond what a normal college professor should do. TAKE HER CLASS.
She is super nice and really seems to want to help you out. Taking her next semester for a different course because I liked her so much!
Dr. Elms is very caring and helpful. While I am mathematically talented, I found her class very easy, so I can't judge how hard her class was for my other classmates as some I knew had trouble. Even then, she is amazing and has math memes ready before every lecture. She makes sure her students understand the material and tries to remember your name
Overall great professor, made lectures funny but easy to follow along, and was also very responsive with e-mails as well as answering questions.
By far the best prof I've had. Really caring and attentive to students. If you want help she'll definitely be there for you. She makes class more uplifting with her positive attitude and she has cheesy memes that will get a laugh or two.
Really great prof. Ive had her for 2 semesters now. Really makes you woke for your grade but willing to help you and is often entertaining. One of the most caring professors here
She is one of the best professors I have ever taken. Her lectures are entertaining, the projects are interesting, and she will go out of her way to help you learn. My robotics group was having technical difficulties, and she stuck around for hours on a Friday night helping us fix our project. I absolutely LOVE her; wish I could take her for 112.
Dr. Elms is amazing! Not only is she a great prof but she takes the time to get to know every one of her students. Very understanding, caring and respectful. Wants you to learn more than anything.
She is very helpful during office hours. Her lectures are pretty okay, but mostly pay attention to the zybooks online textbook. The class, ENGR 111, mostly requires a keen sense of computer programming to get an A.
During a summer class, I took this to help myself with Math 150 in my 2016 Fall semester. She is probably one of the most understanding professors that I've ever had. She is very funny, and if you get close to her, she will tell you all about herself. She is more than willing to help you understand. Please, take her if you can!!
Dr. Elms is a professor who really cares about the class, and her students. She would print off everyone's picture and memorize what they look like, and by the third week was able to call anyone by their name. Her teaching felt personal, and I feel like she is the model every professor should follow.
Dr. Elms is a fantastic professor. She is understanding of the rigors of college life and if you explain situations, she will understand. Fantastic professor, she really gets to know students and tries to make sure the class is fun (and succeeds most of the time!). If I could take every class at A&M with her, I would. Strongly recommend.
The world would be a better place if everyone was like Dr. Elms. She's completely understanding, helpful, kind, and fair. Quickly learns everybody's names and treats all students with equal respect. She does her best to simplify the mess that is 111 and will do whatever it takes to help her students succeed. Take her!
Dr. Elms is an AMAZING professor. She was extremely caring and would answer any questions. The way she taught us the material made it very easy to understand. If I could take her for every class I took, I would in a heartbeat. She is the model for what an exceptional professor should be.
My favorite prof. Hands down. Super caring and kind. Signed up for her for ENGR 112 as well. Makes the material easy to understand and super interesting. Accessible beyond the classroom and wants her students to succeed. If you put in any effort, you will do great because she wants you to do great. Absolutely love her.
Dr. Elms is the best professor I have had at Texas A&M. She is an amazing person who cares so much about her students and how well you do in her class. The class isn't easy but if you try and ask her to help you on anything she will. Also if you happen to be late on an assignment or anything and you explain yourself you might get another chance.
Engineering is not easy but Dr. Elms made it interesting and easy to understand. I wish every professor was like Dr. Elms. Even if they were half as great as her everyone at Texas A&M would have their degree in four years. She gets the best out of her students because she puts forth positive effort. Awesome lady! She wished me Happy B-day! wow
Amazing professor. Took her section of ENGR111 (her first honors section) and she is by far my favorite professor. Very understanding, always works with you to make sure things are understandable. Frequently responds to emails, teaches only the important concepts. Love her class, if its possible, take her sections of any class!
Best professor I have had so far! Very kind lady that will go out of her way to help you understand the information and codes. Posts office hours every week so there is no confusion whether she will be there or not.
She explains things in great detail and provides an environment conducive to learning
After having a horrendous ENGR 111 experience with another professor, Dr. Elms was a huge relief. She was ready on day one to help in any way she could, and she was easily accessible outside of class for assistance. She understands the stresses of freshman students, and she is always willing to help in any way she can.
Dr. Elms is brilliant. She's smart, funny, and really cares for her students. I took her for Engineering 111-112, but if you're reading this, I think they're changing up 111/112, so whatever the current entrance courses are. The homework is simple and clear if you pay attention in class and read online.
I would actually die for this woman. As long as you finish the DP's and the Connect Math, you'll get an easy A in this class. I recommend doing the optional Connect Math reviews before the test to help make sure you understand, but other than that you should be fine even without having Calculus!
Took her for ENGR 289 and was amazing. She genuinely cares about your understanding. If you do the DPs and ConnectMath homeworks, you should be fine. Definitely recommend her!
Dr. Elms is truly caring and dedicated to the success of all her students. The workload is a good load, but is worth the credit.
I love Dr. Elms! So grateful that I got her as a professor during my first semester of college. She gives lots of homework but as long as you don't procrastinate too much it's all good.
Dr. Elms is so sweet and cares about her students. She is there to help you if you need it, and understands that students are busy and stressed-- so she doesn't pile homework on you during test weeks. She is very good about sending out reminders about assignments and takes the time to get to know her students.
Cares about students
Elms is a great choice and really cares about her students. Shares about her personal life and wants you to do well. If you're concerned about grades, talk to her and she will help you do better the next one. Aside from that, her lectures are clear, can drag (expected). If the 216 curriculum doesn't change, be prepared for technical issues. Lots.
Did the best she could with the mess that is ENGR 216. Was very fair and made great effort to help students.
I loved Dr. Elms; she is one of the sweetest professors ever. She genuinely cares about her students and doesn't mind when we ask her questions. The ENGR 216 curriculum was terrible but she did an excellent job teaching it. I would love to have her again or be a peer teacher for her in the future.
Love her. I don't care about physics anymore, but her class was quite enjoyable. It's the perfect class for people that really don't need physics in their prospective engineering majors and just need the class because it's required. She likes memes, and the lab TA's are extremely lenient (remember the nightmare that was chem lab? Different).
Made the course very enjoyable. An amazing professor of the material and very easy to reach through email. Oh yeah, and memes :)
She is the best professor I have had at A&M. She is so caring about her students and wants to set them up for success. She doesn't treat her students like seats in a classroom but like actual people. I cannot recommend her enough.
This class has a lecture and lab component that go along with PHYS 206. Because they introduced this class this year, it was very disorganized. Not Dr. Elms's fault at all; she's lovely and very kind, but the class itself was very scattered and confusing. I definitely recommend her as a professor and wish the course was significantly improved.
I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Elms as a professor and a person. I took her for PHYS 216 last semester. The curriculum is a mess, but that is not her fault in the slightest. Dr. Elms truly cares about her students and has a lovely personality. If you have the chance to take her class, definitely get her as a professor!
All the assignments and homeworks are very clear and even if you have a question, Dr. Elms is very approachable and extremely caring. If you have prior coding knowledge, the class should be very easy, but if not, Dr. Elms's slides are very clear and easy to follow, even if you are learning it for the first time.
Dr. Elms is easily one of the best (and most fun!) professors I've ever heard of, let alone taken. She really does know the material and is super helpful in explaining the concepts as well as aiding with more technical issues. She's super friendly and approachable and sticks to her office hours, and is timely about responding to emails.
Rene Elms is an absolute dime of a teacher. She teaches engineering classes so none of them will be an easy A the way non STEM classes are, but she makes them so enjoyable. If you can get her as a teacher, just do. She is seriously the best professor and will give you memes. She is so understanding. Absolute highlight of my first semester.
Dr. Elms is the best professor I have ever had. She is hilarious and genuinely cares about the experience of the students in her class. While the material of this class can be difficult if you don't have any coding experience, she explains things thoroughly and is always ready to answer questions. She responds so quickly to her email, it's crazy.
Dr Elms is funny and caring. If you approach her she is definitely down to give you a help and be super personable with you.
Great Professor, she is incredibly nice and genuinely wants you to succeed. Very personable woman that understands the struggles of an engineer. The class is difficult due to the hard labs (about 6 programs a week). The midterm isn't too bad but the final is extremely difficult, but they are common exams for all 102 engineers no matter the prof.
Unarguably one of the best professors I've had so far. The class was not easy, but the fact that she was so helpful and understanding helped me get through it.
I wish she could be my professor for every other class. She is so passionate about engineering and teaching. She genuinely cares about her students and takes the initiative to know all of them individually. This truly makes her a gem for teaching a freshman engineering course at such a large institution.
Dr. Elms was one of the best professors that I have ever had, she was so nice and was very caring toward her students. I'm honestly so glad that she taught my class
Most caring professor that I ever had for my freshmen fall semester. Definitely an amazing professor to take for any freshmen engineers. That's not to say that she's easy. It IS a coding class, and the exam format is organized by the department to be paper-pencil. But she makes an effort to be welcoming in all of the areas that she can control.
Dr. Elms is always available outside of class and is more than willing to work with you about any assignment that you may be struggling with.
Dr. Elms is an amazing professor and a genuinely caring person! Her labs can be hard towards the end of the semester but use the TAs. Dr. Elms is kind enough to help her students too and is willing to wait for a little after class. I took AP comp sci in high school so I had some background in coding but I still learned a lot!
Prof. Elms is very kind and willing to help as much as possible. This class had a lot of homework that was pretty difficult. There was also some online homework but that was rather easy.
Dr. Elms was great at teaching the needed material and genuinely wanted to get to know all of us in our 48-person honors section. She wanted to be reasonable and ensure she was giving us everything we needed to be successful on the labs and tests. Really awesome woman and would take her again in a heartbeat.
Professor Elms was one of the greatest math teachers I have ever had! She really cares about her students and wants every individual to succeed. There will be lots of homework, but as long as you put in the work you'll be fine.
DR ELMS IS THE BEST PROF I'VE HAD THIS SEMESTER! She's truly a gem and really cares about her students. Being in the honors section (with GPA reqs) really helped out too since all of us worked together to make sure we would do well on labs. Overall, a really great professor, and I made some really cool friends in this class as well!
Dr. Elms is an amazing prof! This was by far my hardest class this semester, but she is more than willing to work with you and help you understand! The group/individual labs are definitely manageable and are worth the majority of the grade, but a lot of studying is necessary to be successful on the exams. Do NOT procrastinate the final project!!!
Dr. Elms is an absolute gem! She is so kind and helpful for all the labs, and you can tell she really cares about her students. You can absolutely succeed in her class if you do all the homework (important: get a good lab group), and study for the exams (can be a bit tricky). However, Dr. Elms is the best prof option out there. 10/10 recommend.
ENGR 102 during Fall Semester. Prof E creates a great system for learning the material. Lectures consist of power points with very detailed explanations and examples. A portion of the course is dedicated to learning the engineering majors. The labs and assignments are great review for the exams. Do the work assigned to be successful in this course!
Dr. Elms was my favorite prof so far at tamu. Make sure you study for the final as that took away my A.
Dr. Elms has been my favorite professor at A&M. I think it's rare to find someone as compassionate and caring for their students as she is. She made coding fun and relatively easy. Great lectures, she takes the time to email you back and is a super understanding and amazing person. There are weekly quizzes, labs, and only 2 tests all year.
Take Dr. Elms!! 102 is not easy whatsoever, but Dr. Elms makes the course interesting! Shes incredibly sweet, funny, and caring. Her lectures are super informative and shes always willing to help. The tests arent super easy, but like I said before, the lectures are super useful. Plus, shes just a great person. She cares about her students.
She was such a nice prof! She clearly explained concepts and was extremely helpful on the coding projects! The exams were absolutely awful (she has no control over them) but because of that, she offers lots of extra credit and challenge assignments to help bring up our grades. She is a very caring prof and tried to get to know everyone in my class
Dr. Elms is the best 102 professor out there. The structure of the class is straightforward and if you show up to class and put in your best effort, you should have no problem earning an A. This class isn't easy by any means but Elms goes out of her way to to help students in/out of class and has plenty of resources.
I absolutely loved Dr. Elms! Although I was very new to computer science she was extremely understanding and was by far my favorite professor this semester. She is extremely caring and wants her students to succeed. Be prepared for a lot of homework, group projects, and 2 hard tests. If you study and try your best you will do just fine!
Dr. Elms is an excellent professor. Very good at explaining programming concepts. But be prepared, this class is not an easy A. Engr 102 has a good amount of work for a 2 hour class. One group and one individual HW every week... sometimes more. 2 very difficult exams, but that's with every professor. Dr. Elms will assist you in any way possible.
Dr. Elms class was by far my favorite class of the semester. She is an amazing professor who makes sure her students are learning the material and communicates said material in a very proficient manner. If you have the opportunity to take any of Dr. Elms classes please do so; she is an amazing person and professor alike.
Elms is a really solid teacher and really engages with her class and is there to help you learn really new material for many (me included). The tests are hard, but she really prepares you for them in the class. Labs can take up a lot of time, but are really useful for learning the material and I got an immense appreciation for them.
Dr. Elms is such an amazing teacher. In class she thoroughly goes over a lot of concepts in each of her lectures. She makes you do the homework on the textbook and it can be helpful most of the time. She has memes all over her slides and is an inspirational person, If I had to take an ENGR 102 again i wouldnt hesitate to take professor Elms
Dr. Elms was one of my favorite professors! I had never taken a coding class before, which made it really difficult. I spent hours and hours on assignments. Despite the difficulty of the class, she truly cared about her students.
I had this professor for CLEN 216 and it was okay. I really think if I had this professor for a different engineering class then I would have enjoyed her more. If you truly want to know more about the engineering profession then this is a great class and professor to take.
Very good ENGR 102 prof. Teaches well and is clear about expectations and deadlines. The workload was reasonable and was rarely busy work. She is always willing to help and is just a good person in general. Highly recommend.
Nothing bad to say about Professor Elms or this class. She is a great lecturer and is always there to help. The class it self isn't too bad, especially if you have done a bit of programming before.
Professor Elms is such a fantastic engineering teacher, never have I felt so at home when truly I am so far away from where I came from. Prof. Elms is a very lenient, very kind, and very intelligent professor who truly does set standards high. If I could take this professor again any years after this one, I definitely would.
She is the best and nicest teacher, if you have any problems go to her office hours. She literally never makes you feel like an idiot and explains so clearly. As long as you study the PowerPoint before the quizzes your solid.
Literally the best 102 prof. She cares so much about her students and is willing to help in class and outside class. If you have a choice at your NSC pick Dr Elms!!!
Dr. Elms truly cares about her students. She is very knowledgable and inspirational. Her lectures are very informative and is a great intro-to-python course.
She probably the best professor for ENGR 102. Lectures are easy to understand and she is pretty chill. Labs have group and individual assignments. Have to finish going through the textbook on time (ZyBooks). Exams are kinda hard. Don't have to take lecture notes. HUGE drop grades at the end of the semester.
Dr. Elms is an amazing professor and a great person. Her lectures are very helpful for the quizzes and the coding labs. If you're confused about anything, she is more than willing to help and is really good at explaining things. She gives a lot of extra credit that you should definitely take advantage of, it'll help your grade a lot.
She's super sweet, and tries to make lectures engaging. She is super understanding, and dropped 6 quizzes at the end of the semester. Although I had a hard time with the material, I would definitely take Dr. Elms again. Don't be afraid to reach out to her for extra help, she will actually listen to you.
Dr. Elms is an awesome professor whose lectures and assignments are very clear and organized. Her passion for engineering is evident in the way she teaches and the occasional personal stories she shares (always planned; she doesn't go off on tangents). She is very approachable, and she learns everyone's name despite having decently sized classes.
Great professor! Probably one of the best for 102. Gives a ton of extra credit and has clear instructions for all assignments. Lectures were easy to understand as well. The two tests were difficult but fair. Easy quizzes and homework. Labs got increasingly difficult but weren't too bad if you have a good group.
This prof is fine but the actual CLEN 261 class is a waste of time. Didn't really learn anything and the TA's weren't helpful.
Heart of gold. Provides a lot of industry experience and give a lot of good advice. Loves to talk to students outside of class.
For a one hour class there was way too much homework. She was very knowledgeable during lectures but didn't really go into details about group assignments so we had to guess on a lot of it. Overall, not a huge fan of the class
Dr. Elms is by far my favorite professor. She genuinely cares for each of her students and lectures in a clear way that makes sense to me, a freshman who had no coding experience. Beyond the class, she is encouraging, inspiring, and empathetic. She is understanding with assignment deadlines, answers her emails quickly, and is consistently helpful.
Dr. Elms is probably the nicest teacher I've had at A&M. She is very helpful if you have any questions, and coding was made accessible for me, since I have never coded before this class. If you put in the work on all of the labs and quizzes, an A is possible. I will say to study lots for the 2 exams, as they are both pretty challenging.
Great prof. Her lectures cover exactly what you need to know for the quizzes. She's very accommodating too and clearly cares about her students. I'd take her again no questions asked. Everyone in her classes loves her.
The most caring professor I have had so far. She made her lectures engaging and understandable to those who were new to coding. Was accessible and quizzes weren't too difficult. Tests, though not necessarily her fault, were very difficult, so make sure you know your stuff. Unfortunately, she took an early leave but was an excellent professor.
Elms is a great professor. Super nice person. Beware of the midterm and final exam, if you're not prepared you will not do well.
Dr. Elms is a good professor teaching a horrible curriculum. Engineering 216 might be the single dumbest class ever invented. The content is all over the place; no attempt to have any kind of consistency, and the tests are way harder than anything in lecture or homework. Engineering department should be ashamed of the way this class is structured.
She is a really sweet individual, but the class itself sets the professors up for failure. All over the place material, and the exams are really hard. Averages every year are below 50 on the final, but that being said there is usually a decent curve. Put forth the effort on every assignment and weekly quiz, and study a good bit for the exams.
Easily the worst class taken in freshman engineering. Labs and reports are whatever but the in class lecture material, quizzes, and exams are all over the place. You learn like 3 different classes of material which makes studying super annoying. Elms is very nice and teaches well, but that can only get you so far in this class. Final sucks bad.
Dr. Elms is a sweet, caring, amazing person having to teach a class that is employed by the anti-auto ETAM committee that plagues A&M Engineering. The class is one of the worst organized and useless things ever, but that is not her fault. She does curve the final, but based on making the class average a C on the final. I'd take her for 216.
Dr. Ritchey is without a doubt the most accessible, nicest and least intimidating professor I have ever had. She is always ready to answer questions whenever you have them. Her lectures are comprehensive and easy to follow, and her slideshows are obviously very well prepared. There is no one else I would rather learn python from than her!
Elms is the goat. Many of the labs that are required by other professors are optional in her class. She's very caring and tries to remember all of her students names. The lectures are kind of boring, but the class is not very lecture-heavy.
The goat. She is very funny and a great lecturer. Obviously the class will be easier if you already have programming knowledge but even if you don't she explains the topics very well. There is also a lot of chances for extra credit. Exams are pretty hard though so make sure you study for those.
The GOAT professor. Would definitely recommend taking a python course beforehand as it helps immensely. However, even if you come into class without any prior experience, elms teaches the class in a way that is understandable to anyone. There's so much extra credit, and I would recommend you do them all. It helps a lot.
Really good professor who genuinely cares for each of her students. Solid lectures that pair with the labs to make good instruction for the material. Gives out an absurd amount of extra credit that she definitely did not have to do because she wants to see her students succeed. Definitely seek out this professor.
Dr. Elms is the kindest professor for the hardest 1st semester class. She always starts with a daily meme, her lectures are easy to follow, and she answers any question. zyBooks labs are long but mostly autograded and quizzes aren't bad. Offers extra credit for challenges and filling out course evals. Exams are the worst part of the class.
By far the best prof ive had. She genuinely cares for all of her students, is amazing at lecturing, and makes sure you have ample time to do work. For the class I took (102) many have trouble, so she his purposefully slow and takes her time, but often everyone does well (for engineering). If you want to have a fun time and learn, take her course.
An all around amazing professor. She tries her best to get to know students in her class, and she answers any questions you might have about engineering (even if it isn't for her class). The homeworks for this class were tedious, but Dr. Elms' lectures prepare you for the quizzes. I hope everyone gets the chance to have a professor as good as her.
I took an honors section of ENGR 102 with Ellis, and I loved the course. Her lectures were sometimes a little slow, but she did an effective job covering all the material on the quizzes and exams. She seemed to genuinely care about our success and took the time to even learn our names. I was very impressed with her.
Class was super easy. I took the honors section and her grading policies were very lenient. By the end of the course she dropped like half of the quizzes, homework, and labs which bumped everyone up a lot. Would definitely recommend. She was also a great lecturer
Prof. Elms is an incredibly caring and approachable instructor. Though the exams can be challenging, she makes coding accessible even for beginners. The lectures are engaging, and she's always willing to provide extra help. unstuckstudy was a game-changer for my study prep.
She is a very caring professor who really wants to see her students succeed. She is an excellent lecturer. Note: if you haven't taken computer science ENG102 is a very hard class, do the first exam extra credit. She is not a professor who clocks in and out, she is always happy to help and is an extraordinary person.
Solid prof, can't go wrong with Elms. I had fun in her class
Elms is amazing. All 216 classes are completely unorganized it is horrible. Take PHYS 216 rather then ENGR 216 to avoid taking an in person mid term. Be prepared to have a high A all semester and bomb the final because none of the classes course work align.
I LOVE Dr. Elms. I took her 102 class a prior semester and enjoyed it so much I took 216 with her. She is kind and considerate, and knows her stuff. I would highly recommend taking any of her classes!!
I had Elms for 102 too and she is honestly an amazing professor who cares about her students and wants them to learn. Unfortunately, the COE has put her in a terrible and disorganized course that wants you to fail. She does a great job teaching the material as it comes up so just stay on top of the work so you can bomb the final and still pass.
I absolutely love Dr. Elms!! She showed us memes and jokes every lecture! It is tragic that she is stuck with the evil dept. of ENGR who hate freshmen. Our exam average was a 60 and she didn't curve it, but she did round up grades and gave a small curve to the total grades. Keep a high A with the HW and lab so you can fail the final and keep an A!
ENGR 216 is a horrible class overall with curriculum all over the place, but Elms truly does her best to help us get through it. Lots of self-studying and rereading the slides, but an A is definitely achievable with effort + studying with friends. She drops assignments/quizzes based on percentage of your section completes course evals, so do them!!
Class is brutal but she is very sweet and gives you everything you need to succeed. I personally didn't find the lectures helpful but I'd recommend going to class. The homeworks are a pain but they should be a free 100 if you don't procrastinate. The labs are pretty easy and graded very leniently. Final exam is awful but otherwise class is fine
PHYS 216 is an all around useless class, but professor Elms makes it go down easier. She is very kind and understanding. The lab portion does not depend on the professor. You can cruise by with a high A for most of the semester until the final. I believe there was a curve, just not a large one. There are also weekly homeworks which take hours to do
Good professor, cares about her students. Curved my grade from a high 87 to an A.
Prof Elms is caring and brought an upbeat vibe to lectures. Overall, this course makes it possible to have a mid-high A through the semester, but make sure to prepare well for the final, since it is 25% of your grade.
Tbh, I did not pay much attention in class (it was me not her lol), but the slides were always available for hw and were very helpful. She is such a sweet person and had such great stories. The hw was pretty heavy but it rlly helps prepare u for the final (25% of ur grade). Open note quizzes too. Def take her if u can!
216 is a terrible class with labs that do little to benefit the learning of the students. That being said, Elms is an AMAZING professor who really cares about her students. Her lectures are clear, detailed, and prepare you well for lab. She tells lots of stories about her time at TAMU and helps you to not feel consumed by the engineering workload.
Amazing professor, never fails to make me smile. ENGR 216 isn't as disorganized as I thought it would be but just make sure you have a good grade prior to the final. There's generally a small curve at the end.
Amazing, fun, caring professor. She really cares about how you do in her class, and tries to help you as much as possible. She dropped 3 homework assignments and 2 quizzes at the end of the semester to give a curve. Mid term was hard and final is pretty similar and worth a lot, but a lot of the class is based on free homework assignments/quizzes
The best professor you could have for an awful course. Dr. Elms went out of her way to make lectures enjoyable for her students, and she does everything in her power to bring your grade up as high as she can before the final comes around. It's abundantly clear that she truly cares for her students and will do everything she can to help you succeed.
She did a great job as a 102 prof, would absolutely recommend her.
I took this prof for both ENGR 102 and ENGR 216 and I can say best and nicest professor ever. I had no trouble in the classes but importantly when I am spiraling with other classes or other events in college that bring me down she is there for emotional support. Best professor ever! Elms!
Honestly a very good teacher. Very friendly and helpful, and knows what she's teaching. She's also very funny - does a meme of the day and joke of the day each class.
Dr. Elms is a great professor to have for 102. She was always very clear on what was expected of us and would always answer questions, and was accessible outside of class. She gave us multiple bonus point opportunities and dropped about 14 grades across all categories.
Amazing prof! Gives lots of extra credit opportunities and is an amazing lecturer. If you've already programmed in python before or have any coding experience this class isn't too bad, but make sure you do the zybooks early enough.
she is the goat
Dr. Elms is the single best professor I have had at TAMU. She gives meaningful assignments and is open to answering questions at any time. She really cares that her students understand the importance of a balanced life outside of classes, and ensures they don't lose sight of what's important in life. In addition, she explains class content well.
