The class was verbatim from the book and homework consisted of busy-work followed by tedious projects. He is ex-military, and must have been a Sgt. because of the way he treats students like grunts--often rude and belittling. I withdrew when he gave us a test on the session before scheduled without warning, and refused to allow make-ups (spite?).

STEER CLEAR! You know somethings up when multiple tutors at the school say things like "This is a terrible assignment, its how to do things the wrong way," etc, and you'll get to know the tutors well because theres no collaboration, hes hard to contact, grades arbitrarily, & throws random questions on his tests etc. Worst academic experience ever

Prof. Polanco lectures but also has students actively working through programming in the class/online. This course is not one that you can just skip and expect to understand the subject. The assignments are a challenge but you come out on the other end of the course better for it. You never feel as though you lack support in his courses.

Horrible guy, he subtracts points for items not stated in the instructions, and will go on with a list of excuses to make it his way. His PowerPoint lessons are word for word from the text book, his grading criteria is UNCLEAR and will fail you for minor mistakes. He either takes forever to respond to emails or doesn't at all. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

As others have said, Polanco criticizes instead of teaches. There is no learning moment it is "that's wrong", no helpful example or discussion. Tests are code memorization although not hard, he will find something so he can take points off. His lecture material is useless, find another source for learning and do all the code problems in the book.

Absolutely awful. Has no compassion of what is happening outside of class or how well your technology works/how well blackboard works. Isn't trying to get his students to pass, but rather counts off points for EVERYTHING. had an assignment where 1-2 parts of my program didn't work but the other 6 ish parts did. failed it with a 50.

Professor Polanco has no care for what happens outside of his class. He does not teach with explanations to why you got points off and how you can fix them. Instead he finds at least one or more things to take points off for. His tests are also code memorizations, which will impact your grade heavily if you cannot get a program working correctly.

AVOID THIS TEACHER. He doesn't reply back to emails so I can't rely on him even if I have questions. He grades really harshly and does not care. I told him my book got backordered so I couldn't do any of the assignments and still to this day I have yet to hear back from him. Emailed him around Feb 16 and today is March 3.

Just finished my Associates at ACC and this this man's class is still seared into my brain as one of my worst experiences in that time. The class itself is incredibly easy if you've ever used Microsoft Office, but his teaching style is horrendous. He is rude and short tempered. He asks for questions and then makes you feel stupid for asking them.

I took Programming Fundamentals II at the same time and got a much higher grade. That should tell you all you need to know. GRADES THE LABS EXTREMELY HARSHLY. Her ridiculously simple labs have ridiculous "gotcha" requirements. Other professors let you resubmit labs, she does not. So enjoy acing your tests and getting 50-75 on EVERY LAB.

You can create a totally functional program that follows all the requirements but he will find ANYTHING to take off points for. Inconsistent grading style that just seeks to take off as much points as possible. He will mark you off 5 points 4 times for the same warning in one lab, etc.

So far this teacher has been very bad, something simple as showing a picture of how slides should look would be nice. I have gotten a 78% on a tutorial for some reason and tried fixing it or if there are any errors to be made, I have not seen any. it's just following directions from a video that was step by step somehow I am doing something wrong.

honestly the prof is okay. I would only take his class again cause of how easy it is. He says attendance is mandatory but it's not i stopped joining his class after a week and just started completing the assignments on my own. easy A class (2 concept exams, 13 Microsoft project assignments, and 4 capstone project) you can use quizlet and youtube.

This professor was practically impossible to interact with. Intro to programming online and not a single announcement, email or class update was provided all semester. The textbook is a double textbook. He failed to mention this anywhere even after several emails telling him Im missing information somewhere. The 2nd book starts in the middle.

Overall, the class was boring, and it mostly came down to reading the textbook. In this class, I read about 600 pages of basic coding. I didn't enjoy the online section. The feedback is poor and inconsistent; the professor's feedback is a single line at best. There's almost no help if you do it online. The textbook is 120 dollars and is acc unique.

I took his class a couple years ago, he is the type of professor who has the attitude of I am only going to show you how to do this once and if you don't get it too bad for you. I get the impression he is burned out from teaching, that is not my problem. Your better off getting the tutors or getting a classmate to help you. He won't help you.

Easily the worst online professor I've ever had. He has absolutely absurd grading criteria that docs points even if you are far exceeding the skill level of the class. If you are already familiar with the class content, you will be forced to write worse code and points will be docked if you even so much as slightly deviate from his stipulations.

Made A's on all of the assignments, B's on the first two tests, but missed one test so I failed the class. Refused to give any extra credit or let me retake the exam. Takes huge points off (15 for each misused function) for using widely approved methods for programming like using break and return in assignments.
