She uses powerpoints. The only thing she uses from the book are the homework problems. Really nice and understanding. Goes at a slow pace and will answer questions. I'm taking her for Chem 2 next semester. She's awesome.

This class fairly easy. You get power point lectures. This helps you out alot becuase you can print them out before class. You actually learn alot. You get a review for every test.

Prof. Becker is great!! She makes it possible to learn way better than most chem teachers. Doesn't 'teach down to you' like some science profs, and she's easy to talk to and ask questions if you need help. I would highly recommend her to anyone! good class. Everything needed for tests were gone over. specific homework examples were done by students on the whiteboard, etc. What we needed to know for tests was clearly communicated, I am pretty sure no one failed the class, and everyone seemed to do well on tests. But it is organic II, so you do have to study!

Prof Becker is truly a great teacher! She has a frontdoor website w her ppts, practice probs, reviews, and webgrade which is 110% helpful. Have the notes before class its great because you can pay attention to the lecture and also the class before a test is review. Professor Becker is a great professor. She focuses on the important aspects of General Chemistry II, she even hand selects her labs and summarizes them to be clear and concise. Her tests were easy (they could have been much harder). Quizzes keep you in line and are easy if you have half a brain. : )

She's an awesome chem teacher! She's quite helpful & if you pay attention, she gives hints on possible test questions to study. She does have pop-quizzes but it forces you to look over the material and keep it in your head. If you study, pay attention, & do the extra worksheets provided online, you'll definitely succeed. I don't see how someone can actually fail Ms. Becker's class. I'm speaking from experience. I had a very low 'F' on my first exam, chem. II, and I ended up getting two A's for the following tests. I think she is the best chem. instructor that VCC has ever had. I can't wait to take her for organic next fall.

Took her for Chem 2, and willdef take her for Organic, she provides you everyting you need to know to pass the class with a good grade. Pop quiz everyday but they help. with studying and the tests. Good reviews for exams and plenty of examples to study from. funny and easy to learn from too.

My grade really suffered for not remembering things I learned 5+ years ago. Would have preferred quizzes that tested the subject we were learning. She explains everything so clearly. She can be kind of cold, but it's just her personality, so don't take it personally. Also, she never made me feel stupid or talked down to, and I asked plenty of "stupid" questions. She calls on everyone a lot...equally, she wants to make sure you're paying attention and learning something! An A is VERY possible.

Best chemistry professor at all Valencia campuses. She's inspiring and you can tell she really loves and understands the subject. She's easy to understand. If you want to pass, read the chapters and print her notes out and follow along. She doesn't make you memorize the useless variables that other chem teachers would.

One of the BEST orgo professors out there!!!!!! She throughly goes over the info in class and quizzes you almost daily. This class is basically memorization of mechanisms and synthesis's and she made it much easier to comprehend!! I didn't take her for the previous chem classes but i wish i did!!! Go to class, sit in the front, put in the effort, and you'll do well. She makes it hard not to. She's very clear, helpful, and down-to-earth. Very great professor. Labs were interesting, just be very careful and methodical so you do it/record it correctly. There's one presentation you have to do - pick a good partner. It's an easy class.

If any student complains about her teaching style, then they have not taken a real college science course. AMAZING!!!!! It is hard to find someone who can teach chem and make it understandable. She does it. Do the HW, not just copy it, and do her handouts. They are excellent practice for her exams. Pick a good lab partner because you have a 10 min. presentation at the end. If your partner sucks, you can do it yourself for 5 min.

Took her Hybrid class. Homeworks are basically free A's, since she provides the answer key, so do the hw! Tests are the most challenging but she provides a plethora of resources. You need to study in order to pass the tests. Labs are easy enough if you just follow along. All in all, put in the effort and you'll pass.

This is my second time taking prof. Becker, she is imo the best to take. Hybrid class both times, takes effort as any other class but completely doable. Not a lot of busy work required unlike other professors.

She is THE BEST. She may seem off-putting at first but it's just sarcasm. If you need help, go to her office. She won't hesitate to help you. Took her all four Chem classes and don't regret it. Don't take labs lightly either. They may be easy, but she expects intelligent answers to ?s. Don't BS through them because that 20% can hurt later.

Wouldn't recommend taking any chemistry online. You need someone in person showing you the concepts and to be there for questions. The commenter below me is just angry about her lab grades. Once you get to Organic, you should be able to answer those lab Qs intelligently. If you're in Orgo, you're most likely going into pharm/medical. ACT LIKE IT!

tests/quizzes are straightforward since she tells you what to expect, lab is all right. personally, its her attitude that makes me hesitant to ask for help (sarcastic/snarky), maybe she didnt like me. but otherwise, lecture is fair as it can be, i just wish she would post answers for the practice exams so i wouldnt have to talk to her.

The previous 2 must be major slackers!!! The exams are the same exact questions as the quizzes!!! If you are taking a hybrid class you are supposed to teach yourself, duh!! This class was awesome, she puts so many resources on Blackboard you just have to put in some effort. If science is not your strong suit I would not take it as a hybrid

I took this class as a Hybrid, so what would be the lecture portions you are to figure out yourself. You can email her or go to office hours as well. She provides PowerPoints for each chapter that are simplifications of the chapter, with lots of examples, so that's helpful. You have to do your Pre-labs or you aren't allowed in lab. Good overall.

LOVED THIS LADY!!!! She's tough but work and you will get a good grade. She definitely teaches and never tests on stuff you haven't seen! Done expect the grade but work and you'll get the grade. Take her and you will learn!

Very fair tells you what will be on the test and is clear about what is the most important things you need to know. Keep in mind it is an organic chemistry class you do have to put in time and effort. However Becker gives you plenty of practice so that you can get a B or better .

Professor Becker is like a "breath of fresh air" for a student attempting to learn a new subject. Being a non traditional student (engineering major) I was uneasy about taking Chem- planning on taking her for all subsequent Chem courses! That being said Professor. B is a stupendous professor that truly cares about her students. A++++++ : - )

Becker is a helpful professor. There is a quiz almost every class period and she tells what the quiz is on. Tells what will be on the test as well. Labs are graded a bit harshly and some of quizzes will contain material from organic 1 and it might feel overwhelming to keep up. Is helpful in office hours but the class is tough. Don't stay behind!

took professor Becker for the hybrid class. you pretty much only attend class for lab, so the class is mainly self taught. the good news is there are only two tests, the midterm and final, and they are based off the quizzes. and the quizzes are all online and easy to pass. if you study the quizzes and attend lab this class is an easy A

I took this as a hybrid class, so I only showed up for labs. The labs were a lot shorter then the actual class time. Be careful on the lab writeups because it's an easy way to lose points.

I took his hybrid class where we had to show up to lab once a week. You have a Pre lab and post lab due every week before class and a quiz due every sunday. Labs are easy to do, quizzes are done at home which is a good thing but timed which makes it hard. Overall its not hard to pass if you know how to teach yourself the material.

I took her for Chem 1, Org 1 and Org 2, and she is a real deal. Classes are difficult by itself, and she is the most organized professor that makes things the easiest to follow and complete. However, for the hybrid class, you are supposed to study lectures on your own. It is HYBRID. But she is always there to help.

I took this professor for organic chemistry 1 and 2. She is an amazing professor and does a great job at breaking down the complex concepts organic chemistry. She can be difficult when it comes to talking to her because she can come off like she doesn't care. She gives you everything that you need to succeed in the class you just have to memorize.

Literally the only chem prof you should take at valencia OR UCF for that matter. I took her for chem 1 and orgo 2. Great rapport with her students and an amazing ability to explain chemistry to anyone. Extremely great grading consistency and expectations. Listen and follow her directions and advice & you will do well! You do not need the textbook. Lots of in-class quizzes, 3 tests + the final that only students who do not have an A must take and lab reports in carbonless copy notebook (follow her guideline and know what you're talking about)! Cool person, but can come off as rude/dismissive. Took her for a hybrid, only show up for lab. Pre/post lab questions each week before/after labs. Quiz due Sundays by midnight, not hard. QUIZ QUESTIONS EXACTLY THE SAME ON THE EXAMS. She herself will tell you to save your quizzes and get the checked WITH HER after each lab. Easy labs, get out early.

I had Becker for CHM 2210 and 2211 and she is the best! She has the ability to make very hard topics seem like common sense. I even helped some other students from other classes that were totally lost. She makes class fun, has a great sense of humor. OMG, it is college, why would you expect extra credit or curving??? Prof. B gives you so many tools to pass the course. Did I mention the quiz questions are used on the exams? How can you not pass?? You have the questions... It is obvious prof puts a lot of effort and time into trying to get you to learn. She is funny, don't be scared.

You want PharmDs, MDs, and nurses who got by in chem with curving and EC??? You MUST know this stuff to major in science. Her lectures rock and cover everything. She gives test reviews that are just like exams. The final is optional if you work from the beginning and have an A. Someone below mentions lab practical. No such thing in her class. LOL

Had her for all 4 CHMs. Awesome!! There are no lab practicals. LOL. No, you CAN'T do lab if you haven't done pre-lab. You're working with toxic chemicals and $$$$ equipment. It's a safety issue. If you're in 1045C or higher, you're most likely pre-pharm, med, or nursing. Would you want to be the patient of people who got EC/curves in BIO or CHM?

Had Becker for CHM 1025 Spring 2018. I had a death in the family and she went above and beyond to make sure I could stay in the class. She may seem intimidating but she really cares. Don't be afraid, she wants to help. She helped me through a very difficult time and I ended up with a B. Did I mention you get to play Jeopardy for exam reviews.

She is awesome at teaching CHM 2210/2211 but if you want to be ready for orgo take her for CHM 1045 & 1046. She is the best! She will tell you exactly what to study and what to not waste your time on. A lot of group work and labs are easy to lose points on. Go see her and she will tell you what lab questions are wrong, before you hand it in!

She's an amazing professor and I am taking her again next semester. I'm taking her hybrid class and it's been pretty good so far. She really cares about her class passing and even gives you the tips and tricks on how to pass the exams. Hybrid is not for the faint of heart for you are also the teacher in the process. If you pay attention in class and keep up with the work and quizzes then you should be fine by the time you get to take the test. Thank god I took this course because I needed to find a professor who was clear with their teaching process, as well as caring towards their students. I really owe a lot of my grade towards her, a truly amazing professor.

As a person, she is not the best. She tells you to ask questions but when you do she makes you sound stupid. But her course material is really easy. All quizzes are online. You have 4 days to take an exam. I recommend taking in summer. Exams are fairly easy (most are like the quiz). Her labs are easy enough but make sure you put all units.

Professor Renee Becker is literally the best professor I have ever had. She makes everything very straightforward and easy to understand. She gives you every tool you need in order to pass this class. Pay attention and ask questions and you wont have any trouble passing this class. Take her!!! She's really good. I would totally take again. She clearly states what she wants and what is going to be tested. You can go to her before labs are due and ask her to look over it and she'll tell you what to fix. All the lectures, textbook, handouts, and homework are online with answers. Professor Becker is one of the most accessible professors I've ever taken in my two years at Valencia College. Her labs are challenging but engaging, and her knowledge of the lab is immense because she wrote the book herself! Her lectures were interesting and she was able to teach abstract concepts with ease. I took her from Intro to Organic! She is amazing, and gives lots of examples, put example problems and answers in her powerpoints. She has tons of practice during the lecture. She provides handouts and resources for you on canvas. She gives you all the possible tools you could need to succeed! She is accessible during her office hours and Canvas!

Took her as a hybrid, and it's not too bad, but it can be tricky. Study sessions are important to fully understand the material. I love how she's straight to the point and doesn't waste your time. She always available to help and she just wants you to succeed. Would definitely take again, but not as a hybrid or online.

There's no excuse for failing her class/ tests. She gives you ALOT of practice including previous exams. The number one thing that brings people's grade down is the lab. Post lab questions are tricky but if you record the beginning of the lab when she explains everything, she gives you the answers for the post-lab questions. A study.. easy class

Dr. B is a fantastic professor. Orgo is tough no matter who you take it with, but she is available outside of class & if you aren't afraid to ask, she will guide you to all the right answers. No final if you have an A, so working hard and getting off to a good start is vital. I wish i had taken her for all of my chemistry courses. Take her!!!!!!

Taking this course with Dr. Becker was a great experience. She made herself very accessible throughout the semester to work with students one-on-one and would always take the time to answer in class questions. She gave us many resources for us to better understand the topics and prepare for each exam. I will be taking classes with her in the future

Dr. Becker was great! I took her for both Chem 1 and 2. Canvas is structured great and she gives SOO many tools to use: Practice quizzes, Handouts, Homework, Videos, Old Exams. As long as you use what she provides you'll get an an A or B in this class. Homework isn't much and she drops lowest lab and quiz. Chem isn't easy, but she makes it better!

Professor Becker shows you exactly what to study for. You can imagine you wont learn due to that, but she actually teaches exactly what you need. Best Chemistry professor Ive had at Valencia hands down. She is insanely knowledgeable.

Dr. Becker is incredibly understanding & gives you every available resource to pass her class. Her canvas sight is very organized. Dr. Becker is awesome. I took her for Chem 1 and 2. She presents material in modules that layout everything for each test. She gives plenty of practice problems and is ALWAYS accessible outside of class. The lab manual she created was the best I have ever used (user friendly). The best professor I have ever had and I am in my mid forties.

Professor Becker is great. I took her Hybrid and I enjoyed the class, but others may find it difficult since they have to be self-motivated enough to study the material in order to do well. She left a lot of the learning up to us, but the class was structured in such a way that it wasn't overwhelming and you knew where to look for answers.

Shes a great teacher. She really takes her time to make sure you understand the concept and gives you a lot of quizzes before the exams to force you to study the topics. I took her for chem 1 2 orgo 1 and I plan on taking her for orgo 2.

This professor wasn't as rude as others say she is. I guess it just how you approach her that may make it seem like she is rude. I took her class when it was in person and then got switched to online due to COVID. The class didn't change since it was a hybrid class. Quizzes were like her exams. Just different in some ways like numbers or elements.

AMAZING. This was online due to COVID and everything was SO ORGANIZED. she has so many resources to help you succeed and understand the material. The only way you won't pass this class is if you're super lazy. There's even tutors embedded in the class to help you. I wish I could take Becker for every chemistry course.

Prof B was great at teaching Orgo 1. I really wanted to take her for Orgo 2 but after the pandemic she decided not to teach it online. Very disappointed because I am now trying to take it with a different professor and not doing so great. She explains everything so well and the tests are exactly like her study guides. Would take her again!

Prof B. is a great professor! She is always available and answers the emails super fast. The only thing that was a little stressful about the class was the group work because my group work tutor was not much worried about helping us to find the right answers. Overall, prof B is an awesome choice for chem 1.

Dr B is amazing! You have to attend a weekly team meeting for an hour in order to review. She does require respondous lockdown but dont let that scare you. I was scared to take this class online but honestly I loved it, and i suck at chemistry!!

Dr. Becker is a great professor, chemistry is just a hard class. Especially, since the class was 100% without any mandatory zoom sessions. I appreciate her because when we were struggling she hosted a zoom session weekly to teach and help students. That's the only way I passed the class. My only problem was the group work sessions I hated them.

Her online class is very organized and I loved it. She truly cares for her students and will try to work with you to get you a good grade. I plan on taking her for my other chem classes in the future because she's very good at what she does. The class isn't an easy A but if you study and do the homework, then you'll definitely get a good grade.

Prof. Becker is AMAZING!! If you need a chem prof, TAKE HER! Three units with three chapters, hw and quiz for each is all that is due, with some labs every other chapter! Only 3 tests, one after each unit. AND NO CUMULATIVE TEST! Just test 3 for the last 3 chapters. So sweet! Will meet with you anytime to do office hours. Makes chemistry seem EASY!

i love this woman. shes straight and to the point. no surprises on her tests. what she says will be on the tests will be on it. she responded to my emails quickly and was willing to give me extra help outside of class when i needed it. she knows what shes talking about and shes very well respected.

You should definitely take Professor Becker. There is homework, exams, quizzes, labs, and group work. You should attend group work because it is a great resource to use on your quizzes and exams. There are lecture videos that are helpful too. There are only 3 exams for the class. The BEST chemistry professor I have encountered at Valencia College.

Class was half online and half in-person. The labs were fun and I think they teach you the concepts well. She really enjoys teaching and if you need help with anything you know you can ask her. Make sure to do all the assignments and do well on the exams. She prepares you well for the exams so just study and you'll probably get a good grade.

A typical week has a lab, a group work assignment (not required to attend the zoom, but very hard to do well without attending the zoom), lectures, a homework packet, and a quiz; you have to work on the course every day to keep up. Hard class, but that's expected. Do the work to the best of your abilities and you'll be fine.

Great professor for those of you who are worried about taking Chemistry, especially online! There is a zoom meeting each week going over group work with fellow classmates. Each week she has HW, then a chapter quiz that is literally the HW, and an online lab. Exams will look exactly like the group work. She also uses Respondus so open notes!

Super understanding of people not understanding chemistry. Make sure to go to office hours to get help on labs to get them at 100 because that and the 3 exams and final are worth the most. She has alot of pratice problems online but doesn't show the answer so ask her for them to study. Overall super nice and helped me learn not just memorize.

Dr.Becker is a good professor. Explains very well, some multiple-choice are memorization which I found hard. Her structure is to help you prepare for the four-year college. Group work is a part of your grade so it gives your grade a nice buffer. Review quizzes and attend class. Book isn't necessary. It's harder than chem1. I'd say take her!

She's great! Has weekly (not required) zoom meetings to go over group work and you 100% on the assignment if you go. She explains things super well and if you get something wrong she doesn't make you feel bad. If you are nervous about chemistry take her! Quizzes/HW/GW and occasional labs weekly. None of them take long. 3 exams in total, no final!

TAKE HER! Took her for CHM1046 too and will be taking her again for CHM2211. The class is hard and you will need to study a lot, as expected, but she provides a ton of study material, tells you what types of questions will be on the exams, and gives you the answers to homework because she actually cares about students learning.

Took her in-person class with two 1 hour lectures and a lab each week. Explains everything clearly and easy grade if you pay attention. Attendance doesn't matter. Homework (printed) every week but she gives the answer key online and only grades on completion, same with groupwork for every exam. Quiz every week, but she goes over it before it's due.

weekly group work, hw, and quiz that are doable. hosts zoom meetings to complete group work every tuesday that are very helpful. professor spends week reviewing for exams, which are much like the quizzes, and no final. overall, i enjoyed this course and professor.

This is probably the best science professor I have ever taken. Her lectures make chemistry easier to understand and she has a clear grading criteria. I would take her as often as possible

Renee is a queen. She'll kick your buns into gear, but you'll need it, and you'll be grateful for it. She's extremely clear about what's on tests, answers questions in class quickly and thoroughly, and knows her stuff. There's no way to take the easy route w/ orgo, but she's by far your best bet for success. Ask her things, and give her chocolate.

Orgo is the most difficult you have to take since the course is no joke like general chem. Be careful with labs as they're graded kinda harshly. Exams are no multiple choice, but durable if you look at the past exams to study. Quizzes happen very quickly bc lectures are 2x weekly. If you learn quickly, take her. If not, I would stick to Dr. Tang.

If you're nervous about taking Chem online, TAKE HER! Easy class if you put in the work. She has one group work assignment per week on Zoom where if you just show up and participate, you get a 100. 1 HW, 1 GW, 1 online lab, and 1 quiz per week. She proctors thru Respondus for quizzes and tests, no camera is required, so open notes and open book!

She is very clear about wants she wants. You are allowed to go as far ahead as you want. The class is a bit work intensive but other than that I recommend her to other students.

This is my second semester with this professor & she is the absolute GOAT idk how you could not take her. This course is all mechs, rxns, & nomenclature thats it. She's super helpful and teaches orgo in a way you can understand. If you can't pass with her maybe STEM isn't for you. Don't be afraid to ask questions even if you think its dumb just ask

Class broken down into 3 exams and a final. Homework answers were already given with key. Mechs & rxns cheat sheet provided (super helpful) cant use on tests tho. Gives past exams as a way to study and they're pretty similar to the exam you take so study those. Gives a final review almost close to the final. PAY attention she gives tons of clues.

Lots of assignments, quizzes and homework. Entire class was exam heavy. All other assignments were buffers and barely changed your grade. Her exams are very similar to the previous exams, which she provides. Overall A+ professor.

I would highly recommend taking Becker. I wouldnt say she is an easy A but it is 100% possible to get an A in her class. Her assignments were fairly simple as she posts lecture videos on how to solve the group work if you need help.I would HIGHLY recommend her if you are taking her online. No honorlock just the lockdown browser.

Easy to get an A if you do the assignments. They are tedious but solutions are posted. Exams and Quizzes are also fair.

Had her for Organic 1 and 2. I probably wouldn't have gotten an A with any other professor. She was absolutely amazing. Highly recommend her to anyone. There is alot to remember and it isn't easy, but she does give you the tools to succeed. Always willing to help answer questions. Be ready for reactions and mechanisms. Best professor I've had.

I took Dr.Becker for both Organic Chem I and II and received a comfortable A in both classes. She is an amazing lecturer and really knows how to break down a difficult subject like Orgo into something manageable. I highly recommend her!

Becker's online CHEM1045C class is a manageable option. The weekly assignments and quizzes are straightforward, and her clear grading rubric makes it easy to stay on track. unstuck AI and the optional study sessions were helpful for exam prep.

Provides studyguides, handouts, & slides, be prepared to use LOTS printer paper. Tough grader, & a quiz at the beginning of every lecture, so don't take this if you already have a full class load. You will have to spend most of the semester studying for this class alone, and be prepared for retaining the material quickly, as she lectures very fast.

Had Prof. Becker CHM1045C and CHM 2210. Amazing professor, highly passionate and knowledgeable about chemistry. Fair grading: 3 tests, a final, labs, quizzes, and HW. Provides helpful handouts, and test reviews match the actual tests. CHM 2210 is tough, but consistent studying, watching videos and her resources made it manageable. Highly recommend!

Puts up study guides & past tests to help prep for the 3 exams. Is fair and extremely understanding. Lectures are simple, fun, and really easy to get ahold of because of her energy. Dr. Becker does not have a lab practical and if you have more than after the 3rd exam, you're exempt from the final. She honestly cares for her students. TAKE HER ! ! !

She got sick and left mid semester but for the time she was there it was 10/10. The resources she provided (powerpoints, handouts, homework) are literally the reason I have a 97% right now. Her powerpoints are literally a godsend and make organic feel like a middle school class—she cuts the crap and just teaches what's relevant. 100000% recommended
