Very good teacher. Very annimated and excited about her lectures, makes it really fun to listen to her and learn all the new things.
happy animated funny. dont buy book, she gives you documents to read. she teaches history of IDEAS. your grade is 4 essays on the documents. PREWRITE essays for her to preview like she says or you wont know what she wants. interesting fairly easy class
great teacher, covers history from viewpoint of ideas/concepts rather than typical boring memorization of dates and battles. will explain subject in a way few teachers have the ability to interpret.

one of the only teachers that can take a boring subject and make you think it's interesting. advice: write your essays before they are due and plan a time ahead to go over them with her. even if you think it's good already, trust me it will help so much
Very helpful. Seems to have a passion for teaching. She can make you question your view of the world.
Very good teacher. Passionate about subject. Always willing to help. Very attractive lady.
Haven taken two semesters with her and am sad I cannot take more. she is an awesome educator who actually cares. It is very refreshing. Come to class but come to learn and discuss.
AMAZING TEACHER!!! Can't say enough. Class sounded intimidating at first but turned out to be one of the best experiences I've had at MPC. I came out of every class entertained, educated and enthusiastic. Tests are in the form of 3 seperate essays, come to class and you'll have no problems.
She is the best teacher ever
She is amazing. She cares about her students. If you dont miss too much classes and do the work on time you are amost guarantied good grate. If you get stuck in a middele of a essay you ask her (before due date) she'll corected and help you rewrited it. She'll go out of her way to help you. TAKE HER.
I took this class to learn about world history. & she makes u do these stupid reports on moorpark college. thats not even related to history. & her class is so boring i almost fell asleep. I would never take another class with her. Please dont.
I had her for history of western civilization. I think she is an excellent, fun, and caring teacher. She is really enthusiastic about her teaching. I only had to write two papers, which I received good grades on. I ended up not having to take the final! Very cool.
FREAKIN AWESOME. Be ready for your first papers in your college career.
She is the most awesome teacher at MPC.She would sacrifice her time to help you with your essays.English is my second language and I'm not even very good at it,and yet,I got an A in her class. But this does not mean that you will get an easy A without doing the work.If you show up for her class and take good notes, you'd be likely to get good grade.
Lame Class. Yeah no tests just 20 page papers that make no sense. She will give you an f.
very difficult and moody, only liked suck ups.
too crazy. cant stand still. very pessimistic, depressing. she is depressed. hard class, boring class.
She was very nice and willing to help. She made the class interesting and was very enthusiastic. Participation and Attendence is very important in the class. She does keep track of who contributes to class discussions. She will help you with the essays. She will go over rough drafts with you and tell you exactly what you need for an A.
she is awsome, highly recomend taking her class, you will learn alot and she is more than willing to help you out. dont be scared by her grading and or how she reacts on the first day of class.
Renee is GREAT TEACHER! i highly reccommend her to anyone, she will make you really think about things, and she is respectful of everyone's opinions and ideas!
Good teacher.lectures sometimes hard to follow because she's so hyper. No tests!Just be prepared to write essays.Assigns 3 essays per semester using in-class sources only.Grading based on class participation and the 3 essays.Lectures are a bit overwhelming so take a deep breath and try to follow what she's saying before taking notes.
great teacher, amazing person. If you're willing to open your mind she will truly enlighten you. Amazing class. You will learn alot. Really sets a foundation as to why things are the way they are today both politically and economically on a national and world level. Highly recommended.
Definitely one of my favorite teachers at Moorpark. Places emphasis on ideologies and the intellectual side of history as opposed to just dates and facts. Very enlightening woman with a high level of intelligence that makes history interesting and even a bit fun. Talks a little fast in lectures however.
very hit or miss with her. moody or teary. couldnt tell if she was going to yell or cry. but easy attendace with lectues and a few essays.
very col teacher
She is a wonderful teacher that knows what she's talking about, she explains everything really well and answers all your questions in her notes and lectures. Its easy because she teaches the subject so well but keep in mind it is a lot of work. If you show up and do your work, you'll get an A.
Renee is great! Very charismatic and knowledgable, presents the material from as many points of view as possible. Requires a lot of reading (mainly primary sources) and discussions. NOT recommended if you're looking for an easy A but if you're interested in the subject then you'll enjoy this class.
One of the best teachers at Moorpark! She loves what she does and it shows. My perspective on history has totally changed thanks to her classes. She has so much energy that you stay focused and she keeps it simple and understandable. If you turn in your summaries and pay attention, you'll do very well. She might just change YOUR perspective :)
took her for summer session, shes very clear about what she wants in an essay and her enthusiasum keeps you awake which is helpful in a 3+ hour class
Kinda cooky teacher but is very nice and helpful. Finals are essays about a topic and is most of your grade. Makes the boring-ass history class quite bearable.
A great critical thinking class. Attendance is necessary for a good grade. She lectures well. No busy work. Very nice and helpful. Challenging but very informative. Especially worth if if you're a history major.
Teacher that actually cares about teaching. Easy to get an A if you go and pay attention. Gives answers to every essay question and tells you to use her thesis. Kind of Wacky but what kind of history teacher isnt. would suggest taking her.
Worth taking with her. Bit of a hard grader. Essays are short though. Midterm is not bad. Offers little extra credit. Topic a bit boring.
She is off the wall. She's a pretty great professor but, I think it's hit or miss with her really. Bring a tape revcorder, she talks a lot.
fun, super animated lady, she really gets excited about what shes teaching. she remembers EVERYONE'S name. if you go to class and listen you wont have to study much. otherwise good luck. one of my all time favorite teachers, and she wrote me a BOMB letter of rec, even though i only had her for one class. just be ready for a little bit of crazyness.
Very nice teacher! She remembers everyone's names and the lectures are fun and interesting. Write down everything she says and do the online work and you will get an A. Best prof all semester.
EASIEST CLASS OF MY LIFE. I DID NOT EVEN ATTEND ALL LECTURES AND I GOT AN A AS MY FINAL GRADE. I RECOMMEND HER!!!!!
If I could have a beer with any teacher it would be Fraser. She's cool, kooky, and fun. Cares about her students and (gasp!) I actually learned a few things. Loved it.
Took her Western Civ class. Their is no textbook so take good notes. She is kind of crazy and goes pretty fast but she knows what she is teaching and is passionate. Don't be fooled though she has a temper and gets mad easily if the class asks to many questions. Also the tests are made up of 50 pts worth of mc and a 150 pt essay.
The best teacher I've had, probably ever. Very passionate about the subject, and makes it very interesting. She doesn't get 'angry' when people asks too many questions, like the person below me said. She gets frustrated when people are asking idiotic questions that are taking up half the already short class time.
She is an awesome teacher. Took time to meet with me outside of class. Very helpful and knowledgeable. No Book Required, so take good notes. Tests are 200 points - 50 points for MC and 150 for essay. I would take this Professor again. If you put in some effort, you should do just fine.
I love fraser, but be prepared to work. she is a great teacher and it willing to work with you outside of class. All the test have multiply choice and an essay, she gives you the prompts to prepare. Gives an extra credit assignment too, love fraser.
Professor Fraser was one of my favorite teachers. Her lectures incorporate the impact of historical events on social structure (including gender roles, sexuality, and racial discrimination). I have never been so interested or involved in a History course.
I learned SO much from Professor Fraser. She doesn't just teach community college level, she prepares her students for University level work.Shes a tough cookie on reports- BUT, if you go to her with your draft of the report she will sit with you and critique your work and will tell you what she is looking for to help you get the A+.
She's really into what she teaches but i hated the subject matter. It is sometimes difficult to decipher, when she's lecturing, what info is important and what info isn't. No homework but she is a really tough grader. She is totally willing to help out a student.
Liked her in the beginning, but requires that you right essays for every "test". Must participate 5 times to earn 20 points each time. Midterm & final are essays. She straight up told the class that she grades like an English teacher, well I would take the class if I needed english. I'm not looking for a class that requires more work than needed.
She is a wonderful teacher by far my favorite I have taken at Moorpark so far. She makes class interesting and she knows her subject matter. Not really any homework everything thing done is in essay fromat though, but it is all extremely straight forward.
She is very clear on what you have to do to get an A. The first 2 weeks out f my 4 week course she basicaaly spoon fed us giving us all the questions she would like us to answer in her papers. She gives you 1 question per unit that might be on the midterm or final but they are essays. NO hw tho :) I like her shes very energitic for a boring subj
I took her for both MO1 A and B because I loved her so much. Very good at lecturing, I learned so much. Tests are easy if you take good notes and write down all you know about each essay question before test to study. She wants to see the class do well, and basically spells out the answers at the end of each unit. Fun class & teacher, recommended!
One of the best teachers I have ever had. She has great lectures and really helps you understand difficult documents. Very enthusiastic and eccentric, keeps class interesting. 4 grades: 2 analysis essays and a midterm essay and final essay. she tells you exactly what shes looking for, so your never in the dark about an essay. TAKE HER CLASS! :)
Couldn't stand this teacher. Doesn't really care about anyone's opinion even when she's dead wrong. Her discussions on religion are so backwards. She's relatively easy to please, you just talk once in a while and get discussion points. Essays are a little hard, but pretty straight forward. Concrete details are retarded.
BORING teacher you sit there for like what feels hours. Couldn't stand class so I dropped and was because her class consisted of essays only, if i wanted to sign up for an english class i would have.
Definitely an easy class. Two short papers, a midterm, and a final. I recommend taking her if you just need to fill a history requirement because she makes it interesting. However, she is EXTREMELY liberal and basically only presents things from her perspective. Everyone has opinions, but in a history class its annoying to only get half the story.
She is a nice teacher, her classes are somewhat interesting and you definitely CANNOT miss a class. You need to basically recite her lessons when you write the tests (which are all essays) so ask her if you can record the lesson or something. She gives you an online textbook and you should read that ahead of time. You can't get by if you slack.
SUPER SUPER GOOD! She is always willing to help you if you need it and is very very knowledgeable! Take her class! She is a very inspiring person and is super kind. Her lectures/discussions are all worthwhile.
This class is easy if you're a good writer and pay attention.
Professor Fraser is probably the best history teacher I have had in a long time.I was never a history person, but the way Professor articulates herself keeps you so interested! No textbook that you actually have to buy.You do need to write well,as all of the assignments require writing; no scantrons. She's always willing to help and genuinely cares!
She is a very nice person. She explains the material well but I will say that she grades very hard. Make sure you know the material very well and make sure you know writing skills. I would suggest taking her but don't underestimate her grading.
Nice teacher really hard grader if your a good writer she's easy. If not choose someone else. Like she says she treats you like your a historian so she treats you like one.
Renee is the best teacher I have ever taken at Moorpark!Keep in mind I took very detailed notes and attended every class. Her tests are essay questions that she gives in advance before her tests. She had quizes on the reading that were basic.Interesting lectures! Have to participate.Have to be a good essay writer. Will learn a lot, but have to try.
Everyone needs to take history with Fraser!! just an awesome teacher who absolutely knows what she is talking about and genuinely shows passion for the subject. Tests are essays but she does give you the questions beforehand. Weekly quizzes on chapters that are easy if you take notes and attend class. Fraser is a must take!!!
Really nice lady, loves the subject. 10 quizzes 10 points each, sometimes I'd get 100% other times I'd get 60%. Wants you to read for them but I didn't really. Felt very confident about my first essay test, got a B-. Felt subpar about my second essay test, got an A. Don't really know how that happened, but I got an A in the class
The most enthusiastic teacher! Even if you don't like the class, you will feed off her energy and not only learn but ENJOY learning the material. I am chemengineer major so I abhor the humanities but she made this course an exception. If you have her, prepare to actually work your ars off but have fun at the same time!
She's really kinda cooky, so it's a lot of fun. She gets so excited when lecturing that she pulls you in. Be sure to read the primary sources, that's more important than reading the textbook. The midterm and the final are almost entirely based on the primary sources. Really fun class though, and it really opens your eyes about history.
Terrible teacher. Impossible to get an A. Do not take her!!
There is absolutely no excuse for failing Fraser's class. *All* of the questions on the midterms / finals are posted online. She's a very energetic and passionate teacher, and while she does simplify / outline a bit this is only at the expense of history majors later on down the road (her words, not mine.) Would take again!
Fraser is sassy, humorous and incredibly talented at lecturing. Best history professor at Moorpark. Readings were very interesting and weekly group discussions were thought provoking. Fair grader with opportunities for revision. Take her!
Fantastic teacher. She grades fairly and quickly. She talks fast and notes are imperative, so a recorder is a good idea. The final and midterm are in class essays, but graded for content, not spelling or grammar. And to top it off, she goes over every topic, in detail, in group discussion. Very funny and entertaining. Highly recommended instructor.
I love Fraser! She is funny, smart, organized, and a great lecturer. The majority of your grade is two in-class essays (midterm and final) which require that you take detailed notes because the essay questions pertain to her lectures. She is crystal clear on what she is looking for in the essays, just follow her advice and you'll be fine!
I am not a history person but this professor made history very interesting and actually worth learning about! Great lectures, hilarious sense of humor, and not afraid to get her students involved. She is a great professor and even better person. TAKE THIS CLASS. You won't regret it!
Brilliant and funny professor, hugely entertaining class. Cannot recommend enough.
I am only half way through semester , very tough. No make ups, No Extra credit. I would not recommend this class for 1st year students, she expects you to be an expert, treats class like they are graduate students. I like her lectures, very animated, but she is a very hard core teacher. Wish I had not taken this class.
Teacher is very liberal and too animated at times. There are many 10 point quizzes that cover long readings in the book. She is a very tough grader but she is very helpful if you ask her questions after class. just keep up with readings and attendance and you will be alright.
Professor Fraser knows her stuff. She is passionate about history, and makes the subject very exciting. Her quizzes are super easy, and although she expects you to read the text, it is not necessary to pass. Even if you don't like history, you will love her!
I love Fraser! I have never had a history teacher so passionate about the subject. She is a nice lady and will gladly help you out if you ask. Be careful though, she's a hard grader and drops you if you miss three classes. Attendance and note-taking are necessary to pass (tests are in-class essays). Not an easy A for sure, but she's worth it!
Attendance is mandatory blah blah blah. Show up and you'll pass really. 10 quizzes over the book, midterm and final are in-class essays where you already have the prompt to prepare. Great teacher, really enthusiastic about history. She actually made waking up at 7 worth it.
Great teacher. Very into what she is teaching, and very good at it. If you come to class you'll pass, this isn't a hard class in the least. You would actually have to try to fail to get lower than a B.
Super excited and passionate about what she teaches, and really funny to boot. Although she always assigns reading from the textbook, I pretty much never used it; as long as you take notes, you're good to go. She always clarifies the most important points during her lectures for tests and quizzes, so it would be your fault if you aren't prepared.
I love how passionate she is about the subject and if I hadn't been taking the class for credit I would've appreciated it more. Unfortunately the passion can make things a bit hard to catch because she talks really fast.
One of my most favorite professors. You should always participate in EVERY discussion. You don't need to get 11/11 on every quiz to get an A. Do good on the Essay, and participate a lot. She is a hilarious teacher and makes history fun. Lets you have a cheat sheet on midterm and final. Get A's on Both with 100/100 participation & A on essay. 5/5!
Really great teacher. Really enjoyed the class! She is funny, smart and passionate. Best history teacher ever!
Professor Fraser is probably one of the best teachers at the college. She stimulated my interest to the point where I am considering getting a history minor. She was very nice, funny, happy to help and very passionate in the subject. If anyone needs to take a history class, please take it with Fraser it will save your life (and your grade)
Best professor at Moorpark hands down
Ms Fraser is the best! Great class! She teaches intellectual history (the history of ideas & thinkers) rather than the usual spiel with names, dates, battles, & wars meaning it's much more interesting, especially if you're into subjects like poli sci or philosophy. Take notes, read the excerpts she gives, participate, & you'll have a great time.
Fraser is by far the best history teacher I have ever had. Her lectures are amazing and insightful. One big essay, and a quiz for every unit. but, if you go through the study guides she gives you will get 10/10 on every one of them. Midterm and final are essay's but they are very good topics, and you have the prompts well before to take them.
She's very passionate about what she is teaching so it makes it easy to learn. She lectures one day, and there' a quiz and class discussion another day. If you show up to class, and listen to her lecture this class won't be hard at all.
Fraser was one of the most caring professors I've come across. By meeting with her and emailing back and forth, I was able to work toward bringing the C I had in the class up to an A. 10 quizzes, a midterm, a final and one paper. You must participate in discussion during class to receive an adequate grade. Drops lowest quiz grade. HIGHLY recommend!
Hands down the most caring professor I've ever had. She's very enthusiastic about the subject and gives great lectures. She is genuinely a really nice and caring person and makes the class feel at ease due to her accepting attitude. If your interested in history at all take this class.
Her power points are vague and the information she talks about hardly relates to the slide. Her outlines are unhelpful when trying to follow the lectures. Her quizzes are nice because they are open note, but the questions are very vague with no instructions. She told me I got an answer wrong because I put "the right answer no the best answer".
Attend class, take good notes, & listen to her instruction. I did not read the textbook when it was assigned. Her class is based on her lectures. Grades determined by: Particip. in 5/10 discussions(for an A), 1 MidTerm essay, 1 primary source doc. analysis, 10 open note quizzes, and 1 Final which is an essay. She gives you the answers to essay Q's
Professor Fraser is very passionate about her topics. You can tell by her lectures. She is extremely knowledgeable in history and appreciates class participation. She gives good feedback on your work and will meet with you if necessary. I would recommend this class to others. I enjoyed the class. You learn a lot.
I definitely feel like Professor Fraser means well, she is just a little out there. Her lectures are hard to follow so you really have to pay attention to what shes saying as the powerpoint on the board is very vague. There is a quiz almost every class but it is open note so they are pretty easy if you take good notes. Midterm and Final are essays
This is one of the best teachers I have ever had. Clear lectures, cares about her students, a lot of opportunities to make up and extra credit. With a bit of work it is an easy A. Would take her class again in a heart beat.
It depends on what style of teaching you like. I personally did not like the structure of her class. She didn't provide an notes at all; she expects you to write down everything she says that you think is important. 10 question quizzes are given almost every other class and sometimes right after the lecture. She grades super tough on essays too.
Lectures are fantastic! My favorite parts are the document analysis, we get really into the text and that basically answers the midterm questions. Only homework was textbook reading and assigned documents. Textbook reading is really not necessary if you know what's going on and I never did doc reading, you can skim really quick and get enough of it
Took her summer class and was surprised at how much information she condensed in such little time! Lectures can be long but are packed with valuable information and you can tell she's really passionate about history! Her class is easy to pass because she sets you up for success. 11/10 would recommend
She loves and knows the subject Lectures are informative and easy to understand. She's very funny and very happy while teaching She grades participation in group discussions. Makes everyone gets their participation in She manages to teach the subject in the length of summer with ease. Made it manageable for students. If you need help talk with her!
Fraser is a really kind professor who loves her subject. Her lectures are exciting. Because she has such deep knowledge of history, it is difficult to differentiate between what is important and what is a tangent. Be sure to take good notes.
Eccentric, very friendly and a big history buff- I loved her! The class is not too in depth but you learn a few interesting things. Take good notes on her lectures and you will do great on quizzes. She walks you through writing assignments and historical document analysis so don't sweat. An easy class and also fun. Lectures are important!
This class was so much fun! Whether you hate or love history, Fraser engages every student. She's eccentric in the best of ways and has a great sense of humor. go to the lectures, participate, and do your readings!
I love Fraser, shes so passionate about giving her students the best possible education and really wants everyone to succeed. Shes very knowledgeable about history and her energy during lectures is infectious and makes them enjoyable despite them being two hours long she can make it feel like thirty minutes have passed
I had so much fun in this class! Fraser made history a holistic study. In high school you just talked about famous old men, but in this class you talk about everything involved. Classes are split in 50 50 between class discussion and lectures. Light reading daily. I didn't read the textbook most days. Tests are essays, but you make a cheat sheet
Most of your grade is based off 2 essays, in which you can have a cheat sheet for both. Gives you answers or possible essay topics during class discussions. Class discussions require participation, for a grade. Funny teacher, work is very manageable.
Lectures give you all the answers to everything you need. She tells you when things are important and when to take notes on specific topics. Listen to what she's saying in lecture and you'll pass. Best teacher at Moorpark hands down.
I took western civ. with Fraser and although I did enjoy it there was a lot of history to retain. PARTICIPATE. if you have enough participation points it can raise your final grade by a whole letter grade if you do. A lot of assigned reading and she assigned a quiz after the readings... the lectures are the key to passing. I never did the reading
Renee is a tremendous force in class when it comes to discussions. She keeps the class going, and she encourages everyone to participate by uplifting them. She reminds everyone that perfections isn't what's being sought, but rather one's desire to perform as well as they can. I'm going to miss the class.
Amazing professor! This is her last semester before retirement l, but you can definitely see the passion she has for every topic. I learned so much in this class, and I really appreciate all the knowledge she gave to us. Also, given that unfortunate circumstances came about, she still carried the class in a great manner!
