She is really nice, but I dont think she is a good teacher. She explains it well but she only does examples that are in the book, nothing new. I would not take her again.

Really nice and helpful. When explaining things she tends 2 jump around a bit, but is usually understandable. Answers q's and is very helpful, willing 2 scedule extra meeting times 4 help b4 tests. Gives hw 4 practice but never collects it. Gives about 5 planned quizzes and 5 tests, no pop quizzes, andsometimes makes the tests take-home tests :)

If you are not the strongest in algebra do not take her. She is extremely helpful and wants her students to be successful; however, she only uses the examples out of the book so you teach yourself.

I hate calculus but she made it managable. She makes herself available for personal help if you need it and is willing to grade more lenient if you try your best. She actually is more concerned with making sure you understand concepts rather than trying to throw information at you and seeing how well you can retain. Very good teacher!

She is a horrible teacher. I basically had to teach myself the entire semester, and if I didn't have a study group, I would have failed completely. However, she is such a nice person, and she really wants you to do well in her class. She tries to give opportunities for you to boost your grade...I barely got a B. I'll never take her again.

I would not have passed her class if she hadn't given take home tests and quizzes. I spent a great deal of time in the Learning Commons for extra help to get by. She grades very fair and wants everyone to pass.

She is such a sweet lady. She does notes everyday which helped me a lot. Others said that she only taught by examples but I believe that's the best way to teach. What other way is there to teach math. Sometimes hard to understand. Lots of extra credit available. Tests aren't too bad and no homework but good to do for practice.

She has a tendency to teach directly out of the book. However, she is one of those instructors who provides ample opportunity for partial and extra credit. Bottom line: If she knows you are really trying, you will pass this course. If she knows you go the extra mile, you will ace this class.

She is a very nice teacher. She tries to do everything to help you. homework is not required but if you do it, it helps you and you also get extra points towards your test. She has a nice accent! But overall she's amazing!

I took this class online and wouldn't recommend it. She is slow at getting back to you and doesn't keep up with logging in your grades. It sounds like she's a great teacher on campus however, when you take an online course communication is everything!

Professor Torres is a very nice lady. I enjoyed her as a person, but not her exams. Homework and take home tests are great, but the exams are a lot harder than the homework. If you are struggling with the homework, you will definitely flunk the exam. It's a good class if you want a challenge.

Professor Torres is amazing. Clear examples in class and if you need help with the homework she will give you as many examples as you need so long as you ask for help. Anyone who can't pass her trig class isn't doing their part. Has given a make up for every test, and tries hard to ensure students understand the material and pass the class.

This is a VERY hard class if you are not a math major! However, if you take Ms. Torres, she will be sure to give you clarity, extra points if something is incorrect or not clear, and removes your lowest test grades. I barely passed, even taking this course twice, but Ms. Torres let me know, on her day off, that I passed! Be prepared to work hard.

She was always ready to help if you needed it. Those who write bad reviews are likely to night be bright light bulbs. She is very intelligent and knows her stuff.

Mrs. Torres is very nice and quite good at teaching. While some on here have complained about her accent, it's not problematic at all really. She's quite clear, crystal really. While I don't require help in math really, I've seen her talking with students after class and helping them. I'd give a 1010.

I think she's a great professor. She genuinely cares about the students passing and doing well in the class. She lectures fast paced, BUT always stops and takes the time for questions, and will explain slower if needed. I would highly recommend taking her. (Her accent is not strong at all). I have an A in Stats and I'm terrible at math.

Renee Torres is one of my favorite professors.

I am not a math wizard, but she has made me a fan of trigonometry! Always invites people to come to her office for help, very easy test grader (gives you points for at least attempting the problem), gives very useful (but lengthy) MyMathLab homework, and gives pop quizzes (but goes over them BEFORE you turn them in- easy 100%). I love her! :)

She's a tough teacher but as long as you actually put in the effort, you'll learn the material no problem. Easily the best math teacher I've ever had. Took her for two classes and an entire year afterwards if she sees me in the LSC she'll ask me if I need help. Love her to pieces.

Anyone who gives Torres a bad review didn't do their part as a college student by reading the textbook outside of class and doing the homework. She teaches you the general idea and it is your job to practice at home. She gives extra credit and is more than happy to help outside of class. She's wonderful teacher and really cares about her students.

Best teacher ever! I have taken this class 4 times now and it really does matter what teacher you have. She helped everyone and gave extra credit as much as possible. One thing I did not like was that her office hours were not convenient for a person working 8-5 M-F.

Prof Torres demonstrates how to approach math problems consistently in lecture. She guides students to improve their skills. In class quizzes require you to be there & be actively following along. She brings humor & encouragement, but grades entirely on how well you show your steps. Liked the test split as 80/20 in class/take home: less stress

I took MGF 1106 online in the Summer, so the work seemed like a lot because of the short semester. Professor Torres was Wonderful! She responds to emails quickly and provides clear, helpful feedback. Professor Torres made me feel like I was in the classroom with all of her help and guidance. I would definitely take another one of her classes!

The teacher is willing to help you outside of class. Show up to class, do homework and focus and you should pass.

Very sweet woman, she really cares about her students and will definitely go out of her way to help you. Participation 5 question quizzes for attendance everyday and everything else online. Will accept late work and gives extra credit. Take her if you have trouble with math, if you don't you may be alittle bored like me.

Fun professor. She really cares for her students. Do the homework and the tests and you will be fine. Participating in class and coming to class will get you extra credit most of the time.

She is super sweet, but has a strong accent. Sitting in the front would be best! She is very encouraging and will help you pass. She often holds study sessions which are smaller and allow for any addiction questions on problems. She gives tons of extra credit and accepts late work.

Professor Torres worked well with me to give me partial credit when at all possible. She even extended some deadlines when I was having trouble grasping concepts! This class is really hard but I would 10/10 take it with her again.

She was real responsive anytime I needed anything during the online class. Online math can be tough but I did not struggle in this class much. There were many lecture videos that helped explain problems I didn't understand. Especially on the exam. She also cares that you do well as she will send you reminders and such. I recommend her for MAT1033.

I took Prof. Torres for liberal arts and she made the class fun! I loved her teaching style and I loved her as a person! Super sweet in and outside of the classroom and she really made you want to succeed. For this class, she gave a TON of EXTRA CREDIT!! No reason for you to get anything less than a C.

I took her Trigonometry class online and really enjoyed this Professor. She records Zoom sessions working out the problems for homework, quizzes, and test reviews for a better understanding and is always available for help. She allows retakes on assignments to improve your grade. If you have the chance, take her! Just do the work and you can get A!

Prof. Torres is awesome, there are plenty of opportunities for extra credit. All you have to do is participate, she loves when people are actually present and interactive than just showing up. Her accent is a little hard to get used to, but by no means is she overly difficult to understand. You will have homework every week but its your standard textbook questions that can be done in an hour or two. She will even give you her personal number and will solve problems for you wherever she is. One of the few who has a passion for teaching.

I love this woman to the moon and back! Calculus is a tough subject but she has a way of explaining things that really helped me understand what I'm doing. She is very positive and will go above and beyond for her students if you let her know you need help. She has an accent but it's not hard to understand her if you pay attention!

Professor Torres is one of the kindest, most understanding professors I've had at SPC. She is very reasonable and will give you a homework deadline extension or another attempt on a quiz if you ask. She's also in her office a lot and had a Zoom session just for our class every week if we wanted to go over a quiz/ test or needed extra help.

Took 2311 and 2312 with her. Very caring and really wants you to understand the material. Gives bonus opportunities, tests for 2312 are easier than the hw but I suggest working through the quizzes to study. Final was harder than expected. She is easily accessible outside class. She also has cool outfits.

Calc 2 is not an option? Anyways the class is extremely hard, to begin with. The modules are very different from one another and studying for hours a week every week is not abnormal. However, Professor Torres is one of the most amazing professors. She's so understanding and will gladly increase deadlines.

The entire course will be through MathLab except for the final exam. No midterm and no honor lock for tests and quizzes. The review for the final is very similar to the actual exam, so if you study, you're pretty much good. She will open all the quizzes/hw for everyone toward the end of the semester if you want to reattempt anything.

As someone who worked 2 jobs this semester and wasnt able to keep up with all the homework due dates, she was very understanding and allowed me to make it up whenever i had the time to do so. The course itself has a ton of homework but the final was easy!

She is a great professor and offered many ways for you to improve your grade in the class. Highly recommend to go through the review questions that she posts as that can help pass the class and to also go through her video lectures to understand the concept. With both of those you can be able to pass the class. 10/10.

I have now taken Calc 2 three times and this professor is certainly the best I've had. She is accessible outside of class, often if you text her she responds within the day with the worked-out problems. She is also genuine and knows that life is tough. She is a very forgiving grader and gives extra credit!

I absolutely LOVE Professor Torres. She is very kind, patient, and understanding. The class is incredibly difficult, but she holds weekly Zoom meetings to explain assignments. She will work around your schedule if you need it. The content is very WebAssign heavy and the midterm and final exams make up most of your grade.

I had Professor Torres twice. For Calc 1, I got a B, and for Calc 2, I got a C. Now, I could've gotten A's in her class if I had followed her study recommendations. I took Calc 2 online with Renee and she did her very best to help as many of her students pass this INCREDIBLY challenging class as she could. She was incredibly caring, always available for guidance, hosted frequent zoom hours, and was very flexible with deadlines where needed.

Amazing Professor. She is very forgiving in her grading. Available through text at any time of day. I wish I had her for all of my calculus classes. Sometimes says things odd due to her accent, but not hard to understand her.
