I don't know how she teachers her other classes.. but after not teaching finite for at least 4 years and not remembering the material, the class just fell apart.
She wasn't that bad. As long as you listen in class and do your homework your get A's on your quizes and tests. She also drops the lowest quiz score as well as your lowest test score. She even jokes around and sometimes the class was really fun. Some peop
do not, do not, do not take this teacher unless you want to become sooo confused and frustrated with math, you won't know what hit you.
She was very scattered. The only reason I got an A in this class was because I can understand equations easily. Many people had difficulty understanding and she wasn't helpful. Keeps you on your toes because you have to keep correcting her.
her accent makes her lectures unclear. there is substantial amount of homework, yet tests are straight-forward mc questions. quizes are hard because they arnt mc. she makes herself available for help if needed.
Her accent makes it hard to understand her lecturing. She goes through the material really fast, be prepared! I hated all the labs and group projects we had to do. You get to have cheat sheets for quizzes and tests. She is very punctual, DONT BE LATE!
After deciphering her accent, she is very helpful with the material in office hours. She's only hard b/c of the massive amounts of work she hands out. If you miss high school and want ppoints deducted for not being there, take her. She treats u like a kid
her class is real easy if you do the work. its not just 3 midterms and a final and thats it. theres labs, projects and quizzes to give you a lot of points. she is kinda strict on attendance. it reminded me of high school..
She is a very helpfull professor,if u pay attention in her class can easily get a "A".She is indeed very helpfull, took me in her class whne i was 15 days late,no other professor was ready to take me..and i got a "A".
Strict with attendance..gives multiple choice math exams..easy A.
She is strict, but tries to teach the class to the best of her capacity! She is weird sometimes, but that's negligible! If u r not a slacker in math like me, and really want to learn something, then she is highly recommended!!!
She's actually funny and likes to joke with students. She teaches straight from the book and all of her tests are multiple choice. Her writing is confusing sometimes, and her accent is not even as bad as the others say. She's good as long as you know your stuff! Good teacher.
She is a really nice and helpful teacher. her accent is not that bad. her tests are all multiple choice, and the final consists of questions that were already on the previous tests, so for the final you only have to go over the tests. I didn't do the hmwk she assigned and still got an A.
She is very strict. Breezes through the subject way too fast. She will not slow down for anybody. Along with her accent she is difficult to understand.
the class was very easy and she was lenient with grading. drops the lowest exam score and drops the lowest quiz score. attendence is mandatory. she moves at a good pace and has a quiz every week so that you're caught up with the material. easy A.
She's a really good teacher.. Seriously the best math teacher I've had at De Anza. Quizes and tests arent too hard, as long as u did urhomework, which she doesnt collect btw. Test are multiple choice and fairly easy. I hate math, but her class was bearable. Great teacher I'd have to say. take her!
Lectures are kept short (class dismissed early most of the time). Always willing to help everybody. Most test problems taken straight from the homework (which is not collected). Good test reviews. Quiz every Monday, but she drops the lowest quiz. Lowest test score is replaced with the final exam score (if it's higher than your lowest test score).
great prof.
At first, I was liking her. BUT, she needs to put more effort answering questions. Many had questions, yet she flat out said, "I'm not taking any questions". So if you're looking for someone who can actually help, this is not the teacher for you. If you just need to take this class and get it over with- then go ahead and take her.
if you know your math then you are ok (easy A), if not...you'll pass with a C, but she can be very confusing. choose your lab partners with care, a lot of the grade is based on these labs.
She's okay, but she goes through subjects pretty fast. Her accent is not so bad, but she is not very enthusiastic. She stops in the middle of all of her explinations as if to be asking you to finish her sentence, but it's always on subjects we havent learned yet. She really DOES know her stuff, but her teaching style is nto for me.
she is one of the worst math teachers i've ever had. she goes really fast, and doesn't even check to see if the students understand. i usually do well in math, but i don't learn much from her so i usually have to try and teach myself.
BY FAR THE WORST INSTRUCTOR...EVER!!! DOES NOT LIKE TO HELP STUDENTS OUT. SHE IS VERY CONFUSING ESPECIALLY W/ THAT INDIAN ACCENT. DOES NOT GO OVER HW AND GOES TOO FAST ON LECTURES. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE THIS SO CALLED "INSTRUCTOR".
This is not an easy A class for students who are lazy.611/650 for A in whole quater, and 6quiz 3Exam(MC@ 5pts each),and Final. It is crazy that 5 pts for MC!She just copy stuffs from the book to teach!Don't know how to teach, and not clear. If you are not good at maths, don't take her.Labs help you a lot on the grade. She's gd, but dunno how too teach
i took Kapur for stats and i didnt have to much trouble getting an "A". She goes over things really fast but as long as you can keep up to date by studying on your own you should be fine. Her tests are multiple choice and she has group labs with many points which makes things easy so overall i would say she's an alright teacher thats pretty fair
For interatioal students, don't take her. Her accent is poor.Kapur sucks. She sucks in explaining concepts. She sucks in preparing, just copies directly from textbook. She sucks. Her exams and quizes have at least one fatal mistake every time.I got an A, however, there is only 3As in Fall 07. If you think your GPA is too high, take her!BTW,611/650 to A!
she's totally useless, she dun even know how to calculate herself. She would just ask u to go home and think about it yourself when she got confused. BTW, her quizzes and exams weren't hard, but make sure u choose some good teammates for lab.
Easy class b/c the tests are easy. She is fun, b/c she is always confused.
She is really easy, but not a good teacher. She drops your lowest quiz grade, and the final replaces your lowest test score if you score higher on the final. Unfortunately, she's not very clear in class. No homework is collected and attendance is not mandatory. If you really want to learn math, don't take her. If you want an easy A, go for it.
dosent make things clear.also believes everything is easy.which may be true for her but not as a student
Great Professor! The easiest teacher for stat!
I don't know what the others experienced but she's a good teacher! Tests and quizzes are to the point and easy. Take good notes and you'll be good to go. I hated statistics in HS but she made it better! Pick good lab members or you'll suffer. TAKE HER.
While she knows what she is doing, she does not do a good job of getting the information out into you, self study time is a MUST, but i recommend finding a tutor or help to get by.
She's a great teacher. Easy to get along with. However, she can be unclear sometimes, but if you just ask her for clarification, she'll gladly repeat herself once more. She's willing to answer questions and give extra help in the tutorial center after class. She's a teacher who believes in her students and wants them to do well.
I have to admit Math not my easiest subject, but it felt like she made it 10x worse.
She is a nice lady. If u r unclear about something, come and ask her. Just come to class in every section and do the HWs. There are quiz every week. 3 midterms and 1 final. But they are all easy. Quizzes & exams are based on homework and the hang out she gives you. Good luck :)
shes a good teacher.. but you have to put your part to and attend class especially being math if you miss more than twice i guarantee you will be lost.. over all Mrs.Kapur is a great teacher very helpful and caring! i took her through the MPS program so if this is your second or third time re taking math 10 i recommend you try the MPS program
Great teacher and I hate math
super easy, she is kind.
Try to attend all classes because she goes through a lot of new stuff everyday. She gives out packets that have notes in the back and are very useful. She has four labs that are all very easy. If you do decent on the tests and you do all the homework and labs, you can easily get a B
She's fair. I somewhat didn't do well on all the exams but I was able to make it up with the quiz. Got B+. You must pay for the webassign, which was $26, but no need to buy Collaborative Statistics. Not an easy A class. Work on her sample tests and worksheets. Beware that you need to print out those worksheets.
great class! the way she teaches is very clear and understandable, although it takes effort at first to understand her accent, but you'll get used to it. Reasonable amount of homework, and the exams are multiple choices and you can bring your cheat sheets/ formula sheets. However since it's a 2 hours class, it can be kind of boring.
This is worst teacher I ever know, She is so mean. Never take her class, it is getting more and more difficult and many students drop after the first exam. Bad!! Horrible!!! Never take her!!!!
Great teacher. She gives you everything you need in order to do well in the class. Don't miss class, copy down all her notes, do the hw, and have a good lab group. Study from the hw and notes and you will do well on the quizzes and exams. Exams are multiple choice. Quizzes are a little more difficult due to show work. Can be a little picky for lab.
Recommend you don't take her class. The way she teaches and explain are worse. She even misunderstood when she teaching
The way she teaches and explain is worse which her accent. Recommend don't take her for your math10
her accent. couldn't understand a word she was blabing about. and she always write on the projector and never move her paper upwards. we have to tell her we cant see many times each class. pointless lab projects, tests are easier than quizzes. overall not a good teacher
this is definitely not an easy A class, in fact if you're not good with math you most likely end up getting a B. i don't recommend her class because it has too much work and she doesn't easily give you any credit.
Stats is not easy, but she gives u plenty of opportunities to really succeed in this class. Cheat sheet for quizzes and tests allowed. Quizzes more difficult than tests. HW due online weekly and great for understanding material. Do all parts of lab, even in groups. Use book online to help guide you b/c she is not a nice person & may not B helpful.
I didn't find the class very difficult, but I'm also a math person. She's not good at explaining stats. I took her class a while, and I didn't fully understand what purpose each test served until I started tutoring stats last quarter. If you need to get the credits, go ahead, but she's uninspiring and you'll learn far more from someone else.
Not recommended (if you struggle in math like I do), you should wait to take a quality professor if you are looking to fill in you schedule. Passable if you have had prior experience with stats. She is occasionally rude and gives "labs" for a math class...hw is online and mandatory. Gave me a D+ at 68% and now i have to take stats again.
Her quiz is kind of easy but her teaching is not clear. Because I'm nonnative English speaker, I don't mind her foreign accent, but her hand writing is too hard to understand for me. Her class is online homework, four quizzes, exams, and lab. Cheat paper allowed with quizzes and exams. All exam has bonus questions. we got full score on last lab.
Avoid Teacher at all cost. Go to a different school if possible. One word describes her (Meta-pose). She will make you buy a book for about 100 Dollar book (Mandatory) because she does not want to do her job on grading homework.
Her accent is a bit heavy, so somethings remain unclear and when you ask her a question she says "look in your notes." She is very anal about having your own TI calculator and will make you leave to borrow one from the library. Tough grader
Take her
She kind of has a thick accent. She writes and talks really fast. If you have a question about something, she'll get an attitude and make you feel bad about asking. 3 midterms about 3 chapters each, and quizzes every week. 3 group labs you have to be present for. No makeups! The final is on all the chapters, and worth double if you failed a midterm
Look, a lot of people in my class liked to bad mouth her, but if you have a genuine effort to complete the class with the grade you want and make that effort clear to her, it will most likely reflect in your workgrade. She isn't going to give you an easy A, but she will definitely teach you statistics in a straight forward and concise way.
This is one of the worst math teachers I have ever had, she does not care about her students or helping them for that matter. She literally says she doesn't care. I've never learned anything like statistics but I was willing to and she expects you to know everything already. Her notes are pre-written so she speeds through everything.
Never recommend
It's difficult to undertand sometimes and she is always in bad mood you have to figure it out how to resolve the problem by your self in the math lab online , Be ready when it comes to the test cause when wont give you extra time to finish everything good luck with this professor
I passed her class because I was a 2nd years college student in my country. She is a very bad teacher. I can't hear anything that she say. If you guys are not good at math, don't ever think about taking her class. Don't buy the text book because she never let you touch to it, except the code for a homework.
She is a good teacher. She uses the most efficient way to teach. Quiz, exam, homework are easy if you fully understand her worksheet. If you don't want to practice after class, don't blame her.
Great teacher, but rude. I show up everyday/take notes/acing the class, but I missed 1 day bc someone I knew passed away.I went after class for notes & she rolled her eyes & used sarcasm!? I don't have to explain myself. If you wanna learn but get disrespected, take her. Yells at stud. for using laptops, taking a break, u name it. Good luck
Don't waste your time with her, she is the worst teacher. Her accent was tough to understand, and she was a rude teacher too. She will never give you a chance or any extra credit scores. If you are looking for good math10 teacher, you should not take her.
The class I took with her, Intro to Contemporary Math, was her first time teaching it. She admitted herself that she was more lax with my class than her other math classes. You take notes in class and work in groups, start hw at end of class if there's time. 3 written assignments. Midterms and finals are multiple choice, open notes, open textbook.
You will pass if you show up, take notes, do hw, and study. She lets you have a page of notes for each quiz and 6 pages of notes for the final which never happens in all of the math classes I've taken. I missed 2 days of class, but was able to catch up since I had a study buddy in the class who sent me photos of the notes. Good luck!
Professor Kapur is the most efficient professor. The class is super easy if you do all your homework and learn the notes. You're allowed 1 sheet of notes for every quiz and test. There is no excuse to fail the test if you are allowed the notes, just understand the notes. I would recommend making some study buddies in the class.
I recently took Prof. Kapur for Math 10 through the MPS2 program. During lecture she would tell the students not to take notes and she would get mad if we did. She considered it as the class not paying attention. If you are confused she gets mad and yells at you for not understanding. She embarrasses you. She doesn't see a reason to explain formula
She was pretty rude the entire quarter as she berated the class on many occasions. Her notes were not clear and she had a hard time lining up her notes with the document camera, we regularly asked her to adjust the document. She will stop you from taking notes when she is talking but also not give you time after she is finished
By week 7, half of our class dropped. Ready for some middle school drama? About half of the remaining often asked each other what was going on in class because her instructions were so confusing: say one thing, expect another. PS:You'll have to take handwritten notes on lab assignments and turn in a typed copy of the same thing as group homework.
Professor Kapur is actually a pretty straightforward professor. The way she structures the class is so that every student can pass. The tests/quizzes are directly from the homework, worksheets, and handouts. However, her attitude isn't the best. She's unnecessarily rude and likes to embarrass you - even if you're asking for clarification.
Have questions? Ready to be ignored and humilated in front of class. Confused? You're not alone. You won't get feedback for what you did wrong on a lab or your quiz. What a shame.
One of the most worst teachers I have experienced. Not only is she incredibly rude and belittles all the students, she was never clear with instruction and lecture. Do yourself a favor and dont take this class. Incredibly rude!!! I dont know how she still has a job yikes!
She isn't as bad as everyone says she is. Just pay attention and actually do your work it's an Easy A class. She does tend to get off-topic and talk a little too much which could get on your nerves. Just make sure you get into a good group bc you do EC with the group ALOT. HW is online, quizzes and finals questions are taken off her study guides.
She was the most caring professor. I dont get why everyone says shes the WORST and the RUDEST professor. She actually cares about you a lot. Shell help you out on HW, quiz, lab and EC so if you fail this class, its on you. A little tip, make use of her office hour and get in a good group. Otherwise youll have to do the group work by yourself.

I took her this winter and I really enjoyed this class. She is very kind and wants her class to succeed. I dont get why she has a bad rating but Id give her a 4/5.
I took Math 10 in the winter quarter and if you have to take it, sign up for her class. She wants you to pass no matter what, group tests, take home tests, group extra credits. I got a 99.8% in this class and math is not my favorite.
Ms. Kapur is a wonderful teacher, and I had no idea how fun math could be until I took her class! She is great at explaining concepts and is easily accessible to ask questions outside of class via the Remind App. Her exams are pretty easy if you do the work, and show up to class. She's the best. :) P.S. Make a study group, and do the WebAssign!
no recommend for whoever wants to learn something new about math. She wants everyone to follow her own way to solve the problem. I have a of shortcut way to solve problems but she deducted my point because I missed one step??!!It is rediculus for someone who study math but have to memorize without critical thinking. Then you cant be adult in UC
Learning math online is hard but Ms. Kapur makes it as smooth as can be. Clicking thru multiple tabs of special characters to produce one symbol is tedious but she gives you more than adequate time to complete the tests. She truly wants you to learn & grasp the concepts so she gives you multiple tries on the online homework & tests. Works with you
Prof. Kapur was super easy and I ended with over 100% because there was so much EC. I didn't really learn much though and wouldn't recommend if you're actually interested in learning in depth stats because she gives you a lot of formulas to memorize and doesn't tell you the reasoning behind it.
Professor Kapur was a very nice instructor and made sure to help everyone pass with the highest grade possible. She drops 3 of our lowest scores on our chapter homeworks and assignments/tests are very straight forward, often topics and question that are identical as discussed in class. Stay on top of your work and you'll pass with an A+.
Professor Kupar gives solid lectures. She works hard to make sure the students have the resources necessary to succeed. Open book and notes for tests and quizzes and you get 5 tries for each problem. If you are willing to put the work in, I definitely recommend this professor if you want a good grade.
Not only a nice person but amazing teacher. Cares for the students and material is easy to understand. Barley any quizzes and hw is easy if you pay attention. Multiple resources to work off of.
There's textbook is an online code for Aleks that costs about $52. Her lectures were very fast for the Summer quarter, but the Aleks platform reviews all her lecture materials. She cares about her students learning and likes when everyone keeps their camera on. Choose a good group, group work is worth a lot! I feel ready after her class!
meet once a week for 2 hours,so we needed to basically learn the material ourselves, apply it in class, brief lectures don't work if you didn't start the assignment for the week. The tests are through Aleks,if you take notes you do well. Need help with a specific type of question? she will help you. you can leave after you finish your assignments.
If you do not purchase the ALEKS plan in time, whether Financial problems (including fafsa) or any other problem that causes you to not buy it in time she marks you zeroes for work. If you have a medical problem and ask for an extension (even one day) she will say the grade will be dropped but still writes a zero and your grade ends up dropping.
Attendance is mandatory for the first two weeks. Must learn on your own time.Professor uses WebAssign, prepare to spend money on a book.Lecture is boring and prohibits discussion. Professor lashes out occassionally. Grades slow. Test work is handwritten. Test gives you no time for handwritten work, so you must do later or screenshot the questions.
Idk why her overall rating is bad, but she's a very easy teacher. Super caring and accommodating, rlly tries to help u understand the work. But her class is very boring and the class is self paced (if u work hard, u can finish it in a month or so). Also, she replies to emails super fast (like within the same day, or even an hour or 2 later).
Cons: - Exams (50%) with WebAssign, no partial credit given - Group quizzes (17%) frustrating - Doesn't give back points even for formatting issues like "x" instead of "theta" Pros: - Enjoyed roasting the TA and students - Unlimited attempts on homework (16%) - Saw at least 3 dramatic romance episodes during this quarter. Entertaining class
Honestly more of a fun class than hard. The lectures were pretty hard to understand, ngl but I understood how to do everything through the hw so it didn't really matter. Classmates were fun to be around, group quizzes and exams/finals were all online. The bad thing is that there was never enough time to complete the exams.
math can never be fun huh? I had to take it as it was a prereq for my major
Very good professor
Very good professor. She gives extra credit. Sometimes, she talks about her family.
Quizzes every week and 4 exams + 1 final. All hw and tests are on Webassign. The tests have 2 parts, each test is 20% handwritten and u have to turn it in within 5-minute time frame. She drops the lowest 5 hw, lowest quiz, and lowest exam. I always felt like I was rushing on tests cause there wasn't enough time for me but the questions aren't hard.
Great Prof! Idk why she has so many 1 and 2 star reviews. Although some lectures may hard to follow, you can easily figure it out by looking back at her notes (she has a lot of resources) as well as from doing the homework. Grade is mainly based off 4 exams, lowest is dropped, final, 8 quizzes (3 r dropped). Great prof, caring, would take again!
This professor is great! She made the concepts clear to understand and was open to questions. Her syllabi was also pretty clear and lenient which was good to help get a better grade. Overall 10/10!
She is one of the most UNDERRATED professors on RMP. I don't understand why her ratings are so low. At the start of this class, I was also nervous about the poor reviews on RMP, but trust me, if you do everything right in the class, you won't have any problems. Her lectures are very clear, and you definitely don't need to watch Organic Chemistry!
She was caring and a good professor.
A caring professor who makes the material easy to understand. Class is self-paced, and she's responsive to emails. Using resources like unstuck study alongside the textbook can help you succeed in this straightforward course.
I had her in the fall and she was awesome. I have no idea who these 1 star reviews are talking about bcs its definitely NOT professor Kapur. LOVED her. Super nice, very clear, and very very easy. Take her!! Don't worry, she makes sure that you learn because you have to show work on tests. I wish she taught more advanced Calculus too.
A caring professor.
very nice professor and understanding worked hard in her class and got an A
The ratings for Prof. Kapur is crazy because I believe she should be getting higher ratings. I loved her class & the fact that recorded lectures were accessible on Canvas. Problems are extremely straightforward, just wished I had a bit more time to complete exams. Other than that, Prof. Kapur is extremely sweet, caring, and awesome Professor.
She is very kind and helpful.
Took her in-person for Calculus I and she uses WebAssign which costs ~$60. Honestly glad she uses that website because all homework/quizzes were online which is helpful for studying. Typically we would have a quiz/exam each week. I wish she taught more higher level Calculus classes because I really enjoyed her teaching style.
