I have so much respect for Dr. Shah because of how good her lectures are. She brings in so much experience and energy into her lectures that I'm usually just in awe of the luxury education I'm receiving. For MKT 243 there were article readings and textbook readings pretty consistently and the midterm consisted of MC and short answer which were fair
She is so great and funny! She really cares for her students. Her exams were worth 40% of our grades and were fair. We read chapters and articles for homework and went over them for the lecture. We had a final group presentation. I really enjoyed going to her classes and I loved her enthusiasm and passion for teaching.
I'm surprised that despite many many years of MCP no one left a comment here. Best class ever, very good professor and project structure. Nothing is perfect on paper but Professor Shah and the wonderful TAs will get it right. 100/10 recommend this class. MCP is a hands on semester long project, so get prepared to do real work.
Very chill and kind professor who made me feel less stressed. Test had some tricky questions and had no idea what I got on the group project. She is very lenient with the BBA core curve, so getting an A or A- should be easy if you are at least average (will never curve down). Highly recommend her if you want an easier time in marketing.
exam is purely lecture based - if you study, you should get an A. participation matters, but if you dislike speaking in class, she has discussion posts you can opt for instead of speaking. overall easy class, and I did learn a lot! highly recommend taking her if you want an easier time in mkt 340
Professor Shah is honestly one of my favorite professors in the bschool. I highly recommend taking her class and it's really easy to get an A. There are 2 tests that are worth 40% of your grade, a group project of making a new product, 2 cases that you have to do, and guest lecture summaries. Participation is really important!
Shah is a tough but also very personable professor. The exams are surprisingly tricky, and she's very stubborn about her answers. The final group project is very annoying but try to make the most of it. Expect to put in a good amount of work, but if you do, you'll reap the benefits
Professor Shah is hands down the best professor I've had at Emory. Not only is she the kind of person that genuinely cares about each of her students, but she's also a super interesting lecturer. She brings in the best speakers, opens every class with a joke, and clearly outlines every expectation she has for her students- what more could you want?
Shah is very funny and she gives good lectures. She can be difficult for group projects (does not care about free riders). Group projects require creativity and leadership skills to run the group.
She is very disorganized. Says one thing in class and then does something else. Avoid
Every class she tells cringy jokes. Disorganized, and not helpful at all during group project meetings.
I love Professor Shah. Some people say her jokes are cringe-worthy, but I think they're just a fun and light way to start the class!! Who wouldn't love a professor with a sense of humor who is actually human? I've never had a Professor treat me with such kindness and respect. Take her class!
Professor Shah was one of my favorite professors. I took her class last semester and I could not recommend her enough. Participation is really important and the group project was very fun! I would take this class again if given the chance.
Professor Shah is a must-take!!! She's hilarious and her classes are super entertaining. Graded on several components, including a group project which is a lot of work but fun and she guides you throughout the whole process and is very helpful. Exams are fair and she is understanding. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this class, would retake it in a heartbeat.
Shah was very organized in terms of putting everything on Canvas and everything is laid out. The class is structured and she has been very helpful in terms of the group project. She meets with you consistently to give the best feedback. Her class was actually one of my favorites and the cringe jokes she tells is a highlight of the class!
MCP gave me the greatest group project I've ever had, both in terms of team members and the overall assignment. Higher education should give you the chance to work on real-world problems whilst not having too much accountability, and MCP combines those two dimensions perfectly. Pace your work out throughout the semester and you'll love it!
Dr. Shah was one of the best professors I've taken at Emory. MCP was one of the few college classes that actually taught you something you could be doing at work. Whole class is a real consulting project with a real client. You'll make great friends and lots of memories.
Reshma is truly the best prof I had at Emory. She is an amazing prof, cares about her students, is extremely knowledgable. MCP/Reshma are primary reasons I have my job today, it taught me real world consulting experience and let me create an impact. If you have an chance to learn from her, take advantage of it, you will gain a life long mentor!!
Professor Shah is honestly one of the best professors I've ever had. She's deeply invested in students' success, incredibly knowledgeable, and brings real-world expertise into the classroom. This course was one of the most useful in the b-school and helped me a lot through my internship. If you get a chance, definitely take this class.
I have no idea how this professor has such good reviews - not to be mean but she's terrible. Rude, condescending, unorganized, genuinely not a good professor.I don't think I've learned a single thing from her. She has two tests a semester on 10+ chapters. Participation is a big part of the grade but she only calls on her favorites (typically men).
Professor Shah truly cares about your learning at the end of the day and always tries to uplift the class atmosphere. I would recommend taking her class if you want to get your fundamentals down for marketing.
This is a challenging course because it tests your ability in a real-life scenario; however, it is a worthwhile class to take, especially because Professor Shah teaches it. She truly does care how you are faring within and outside of the class.
Professor Shah is an incredible professor who genuinely cares about her students. She always uplifts the classroom atmosphere with humor and positivity. She's approachable, supportive, and makes learning engaging. I would 100% recommend taking her class!
Shes super nice and helpful. Class isn't super difficult either
Shah is a very passionate professor, you can tell she cares about her students and the subject that she teaches. Enjoyed her class, would recommend.
She is a good professor with engaging lectures
Prof. Shah was one of my favorite professors I have had at Emory. She is engaging, helpful, and the course is a decent amount of work but very manageable.
She crazy but she awesome. There is a participation requirement but she eats. She is so fun and funky. Loved this class!
very passionate and sweet, she takes the course seriously, but just be cause she it's passionate. Won't be a breeze but you will enjoy it.
She is helpful and accessible outside of class. Professor Shah is very enthusiastic about the topic she teaches and willing to discuss it. Participation in class matters.
Really nice professor, always there to help. Fun class, and she brings treats sometimes.
She is amazing I love her I want her to be my mom!!
I enjoyed learning from Prof. Shah a lot. She is very engaging and extremely funny in class. The class does have a midterm and final as well as a final presentation as well. Do your best to keep up with class slides and readings because they are a big part of the exams.
Fun professor, substantial grade comes from a group project. A little confusing for grading criteria for group project, so go in for office hours.
She's super nice and helpful. Class isn't very difficult either. Great jokes
Pretty chill class
Sha is the best professor who truly cares for her students and give amazing lectures. Take her class!
excellent class that prepares you for the principles of marketing and is incredibly important in checking off the boxes for how to be an effective marketer. great professor and great at helping students!
Professor Shah was an extremely engaged professor who always made class interesting. She cares about her students, and her class was very enjoyable.
She was very funny and made class very enjoyable. Content was a bit heavy but overall not the worse!
Professor Shah is a great teacher; she makes her class very participation-heavy and ensures everyone is involved. Every class has a lot of fun jokes and is very informative. This is an essential and enjoyable class for understanding the news and operational aspects of running a business.
Professor Shah is a wonderful professor. Class is entertaining, and she starts every class with a joke. She makes the environment comfortable and casual. Would take her again!
Not very hard class, group project throughout the semester, 2 case writings.
Good professor, but make sure to read the textbook. Most of her slides come from it, but the textbook helps with the exams. Fun group project if you are creative. very good grader and gives good critics.
I enjoyed her lectures and found them very engaging. Her class was taught in a style where you are consistently engaged with the material. Her personality also draws one in to listen and pay attention. Her exams are not too difficult if you stay on top of the readings! No tech is allowed in this class.
Professor Shah cares a lot about marketing and makes class interesting. Her class is very participation heavy either through in-class participation or online discussion posts. The two exams cover a lot of content from her slides.
Every class, she opens up with a hilarious joke. She has tons of office hours and is accessible outside of class. Her TA's are amazing!
Prof. Shah is friendly and relatively accessible outside of class. However, you MUST read her textbook because there is material that is not covered in class and is required for the exams (though not hard to read). Attendance is required for your grade.
Overall very caring and down to earth teacher. Exams are pretty straight-forward, just look over slides and really understand the general concepts and terms. Great intro to Marketing!
Professor Shah is very kind and accommodating! The lectures and textbook readings are very informative and represent the content of the exams very well. Though this course was much harder than I anticipated, I appreciate Dr. Shah's effort toward meeting with students and sharing her passion for marketing.
Read the slides AND textbook for exams. Make sure to participate or do discussion posts for the class.
She is a good professor with engaging lectures. Participation matters in the course.
She's such a nice professor. Always supportive.
Professor Shah genuinely cares for her students. She is enthusiastic about the class and really strives to make every lecture fun and engaging. Recommend this class if you really like marketing.
Shah is great would definitely take a course with her again
Interesting professor, but you need to put effort in the course.
Professor Shah was a lot of fun to be in class with, she would start every class with a joke and some music which set a good vibe. Beyond that she clearly cares a lot about the subject and also about her students' understanding of the course material.
Professor Shah is a great lecturer! She brings in guests who are professionals in the industry to talk about niche topics and their work/careers in a way that shows how course material is applicable to real world scenarios.
Professor Shah is a great professor! She is extremely engaging and funny. She is very knowledge and applies her real life industry experience to the class concepts. Highly recommend!
Passionate about marketing and brings in a few speakers throughout the semester. There is a group project that takes place over the course of the semester but you get very limited time to work on it in class.
Interesting professor, but you need to put effort in the course.
Professor Shah is an incredible lecturer and is so accessible outside of class (project help, career advice, etc). She genuinely wants to see her students succeed and cares that we truly learn. Highly recommend taking 340 with her!
She is a fantastic professor. the class contents are pretty comprehensive. If you really wanna learn something, just choose her.
Overall, she is a caring and chill professor who often starts class with jokes. Reading the assigned material will help with the midterm and final exams. Guest speakers and case materials are also tested. For the group project, she often provides insightful comments and recommendations on how to explore the topic further.
Great professor and interesting lectures. The tests are fair and the workload isn't bad. Definitely recommend taking, just make sure you read the textbook
Amazing professor, Very caring :)
Professor Shah is funny, engaging, and a very helpful professor. I can tell she cares about her students and recognizes how much work you put in or don't.
She's very caring and hilarious!
great professor. good at breaking down concepts
Professor Shah was very caring and wanted her students to succeed in the class. Attendance and participation(either in class or through canvas discussion) is mandatory. The midterm and final exam were MCQ based were not very difficult. The grading criteria for the immersions were a little unclear but overall the class was very well organized.
Great prof, she is very well connected and brings in INCREDIBLE guest lecturers who have had amazing marketing careers. It was really fun to hear so many different perspectives
Professor Shah was great to work with. The only complaint would be the laptop policy, so if using technology is important to you, I would recommend a different instructor.
Prof. Shah is very sweet and engaging. The class covers a lot of basic marketing concepts and is pretty straightforward. For grading, you choose two short case write ups, then theres a midterm + final, and a group project. The projects requires the most work but everything is manageable overall. Lectures and guest speakers are interesting.
Professor Shah is an outgoing person who creates a fun learning environment. The class is relatively easy. Staying on top of the readings is crucial for understanding the material and performing well.
I really enjoyed Shah's class. I thought that the heavy-use of the textbook was annoying but otherwise the lectures, guest speakers, and the group project were all excellent and I appreciate her extra use of time to facilitate all those things.
No complaints was a professor who was passionate about the content and taught well.
🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐 🐐
Class was great and interesting, the exams were easy and the group project was also interesting to work on. Make sure to talk every class as they track participation every day.
Very lecture heavy but information can all be obtained through the textbook. Great energy each class and very engaging!
Very chill class with an ongoing group project. One midterm and a final, both non-cumulative. Just participate in class and go through the slides before tests and you'll be good.
Prof. Shah is great. She is incredibly knowledgable, makes class fun, and has great guest speakers.
Professor Shah is a very charismatic professor who cares deeply about her students and their performance. Her lectures are super interesting and she's the best.
She is amazing! Made classes so fun and genuinely looked forward to every class. The group projects are kind of annoying but exams are easy if you review slides and read textbook summaries!
She was a great teacher
She is caring for every student, and also about their personal growths. MCQ exams.
Shah is very nice and helpful with her office hours, however, her tests are hard and answers are pretty ambiguous. She is also slightly condescending sometimes.
Interesting professor, material very application based
She is really funny. Expects participation. Not a super clear and easy to follow class, but also not super hard. Overall great professor.
One of the most relatable, caring professors at the school. Reminds me a lot of my mom
was a very good class
She's a chill professor that gives awesome feedback
She is a very engaging professor who truly loves marketing and has a great attitude during class.
Professor Shah clearly cares about individual student success. She takes the time to get to know students and gives thorough feedback throughout the semester. While the MKT 340 content isn't always exciting, she tries her best to make it engaging.
Great Response
Shah is a great professor! This is a very lecture heavy class with a group project so make sure you work on it well with the team. Overall she cares about her students and loves to provide endless feedback.
Her class was useful. She made it fun by allowing us to share our experiences.
Shah is very kind and cares about her students. I enjoyed taking this class and learned a lot about marketing.
Shah is very fun, teaches to the book but is a bit of a harsh grader.
Wonderful teacher, very humorous and gives great feedback
Great teacher
Easy class
Professor Shah cares about students
Professor Shah is charismatic and funny in class, which makes classes fun. Paired with her interesting lecturing style, she is a great professor to work with. Her input is always fantastic on projects and she truly cares about her students success.
Great professor with exrtemely engaging lectures
Professor Shah is super nice and hilarious. She tries her best to make a lecture heavy, boring class interesting.
funny and caring professor
grade is mainly composed of group projects and tests
The TA made me do this
Tries to be funny to engage the class, it's so much content but empty lessons.
She was okay, lots of jokes.
Shah was great, very nice, and cares about the students. 2 exams final non cumulative. A group project.
Participation is important. She gives the chance to answer discussion questions online if you have difficultly speaking up in person. Read between the lines for rubrics, better to go the extra mile to get an A then do the minimum and get a B.
Overall good, definitely read textbook.
Pretty good professor, make sure to memorize class slides and you will get an A
Really enjoyed the class! Look forward to class easy to follow.
She cold calls a lot and she does have weird commentary sometimes. The content isn't difficult however the midterm was confusing language wise.
Very passionate and funny professor who truly cares for each of her students. You can talk to her about anything, and she will listen and give good advice. She remembers each of her students and teaches in an easy to consume and memorable way. She is extremely helpful. The course itself has an ongoing project throughout but it's not hard.
Raise your hand often to get those points because they grade everytime you raise your hand and participate. Other than that, memorize slides and you'll do fine.
Shah was very engaged with the class. The material/assignments were somewhat difficult, however Shah was often available for support.
She's super caring and organized, gets through her slides and is always open to speak outside of class
Professor Shah is very kind, funny, and understanding. Her class is super interactive and engaging and you learn a lot.
Prepare to talk in class. Memorize slides for test
pretty fun class. participation required
She was really entertaining! She didn't let us use technology though, which kind of sucked.
I thought that Professor Shah did a great job of organizing her lectures, and the course content was engaging and relevant to marketing. She added humor to every class and encouraged student participation, which I appreciated. However, her grading on the immersion findings and case studies sometimes felt ambiguous and confusing.
Sometimes I think she struggles to pick up the subtleties of her students reactions, I really like her as a teacher tho. I had to spend 6+ hours during the peak of midterms just to go to unscheduled, unsyllabi'd guest speaker events. Other than the blatant disrespect towards students' time, I really enjoy her perception of marketing and teaching.
Extremely unorganized and unclear lecturer. Course content was very boring and she would just repeat what the textbook said without ever really explaining or making it clear. Tests questions were very poorly written and confusing. In my opinion you should absolutely avoid taking Shah.
The grading criteria for participation is a bit too much. I think there are better ways to do this without having a person talk every day in class. She offers an alternative: discussion posts. However, we are so busy with other classes, her readings (including textbooks and cases), and group projects that we don't have time for them.
Awesome! Informative class
All of the negative reviews here are from salty people who didn't do well in the class. Prof Shah goes out of her way to be accommodating to students and is hilarious. No computers allowed is my only complaint
good teacher that cares about students. class is not too difficult but participation is graded.
Shah is awesome. I put off mkt 340 for ages but I'm glad that led me to her class.
Prof. Shah is a nice and caring professor and is passionate about what she does. This course does require a bit more time commitment for guest speakers, group projects etc.
Prof. Shah is nice and caring towards her students. This class is heavily group project based and has guest speaker events you need to attend. The grading criteria in terms of assignments and projects can sometimes be unclear, but the material is pretty interesting.
Prof Shah is overall engaging and fun and class is generally enjoyable. The grading criteria was unclear at times and exams focus on memorization with confusing questions. Also, attendance AND participation are mandatory and tracked every. single. class.... No free skips.
cant even correctly answer her own study guides
Let the record show, the TAs told us to rate her 5 stars on here for an extra participation point.
The processor was ok.
i would recommend reading the book before exams
Shah is great
Professor Shah's class is a lot of work, i don't recommend taking it if you like exam-heavy classes but if not, she is a great option for MKT 340
Prof Shah made this class fun and easy to understand. This is already an easy course, the exams are EASY if you just STUDY. The bad reviews made on dec 10th are clearly all made by the same person. the TAs asked us to leave HONEST reviews, and the 1 extra point is in a 5% category, which barely impacts your grade anyway.
Dr. Shah is kind of flighty, and her feedback on group project prep was unhelpful. Her lectures meander, but she's fun and personable which is why so many people love her. She thinks she's really charming which can be annoying and distracting to people who are just trying to learn. Read the slides and textbook review sections, and you're set.
Dr. Shah is a very talented lecturer and is adept at engaging students. The class isn't too hard--the most time-consuming aspect is the group project; there are deliverables throughout the semester where she gives you feedback, so pay attention to what she wants to see. Read the textbook for the exams because they are pretty straightforward.
Bad prof with unclear grading guidelines. Wouldn't recommend
Do not take her
Tends to go off-topic during lectures, which makes it hard to stay engaged. She's nice enough, but her explanations often leave me more confused than when I started. Her feedback on assignments is vague, and she doesn't really answer questions directly. Just read the textbook and slides
She literaly tricks you into writing a Rate My Professor review for her to give you extra credit, but ended up giving you a really bad grade
You will not understand how you end up with your grade
Her lectures are hard to follow, and she often repeats the same points without getting into the specifics. She doesn't provide much guidance on assignments, and her feedback is mostly vague.
I honestly did not have a lot of problems with her class besides her terrible class participation grading structure. However, I think it is ridiculous that we as students don't have any of our final grades...like I don't have a clue what I got on my final exam or the final project.
Atrocious grading and feedback from both the professor and her TAs made this class a nightmare
Highly recommend taking this class with a different professor if you're able to. TAs were incompetent and assignment feedback was entirely unhelpful.
Random grading
most of the ratings are fraudulent for extra credit (she asked us to), shes not awful, but not as amazing as the reviews say
Overall, easy class. I did not do too much work. The grading is relatively subjective. She does not post the last half of grades and will put grade into grade book. Make sure to choose an idea for group project that she supports from the get-go.
I took her class as it fit my schedule and I was disappointed in the end. Her grading was unclear and very subjective. It also takes ages to receive the grades and her grading is very unclear, especially for the group work and the peer evaluation. You can either win or lose when choosing her for your class.
She's a nice person, but not a good teacher. Can be cringy and cheesy at times. I took it last semester and now this semester's about to end, I still cannot see half the grades on Canvas.
she is so fun and so chill if you get to know her. She is extremely knowledgeable and an expert in the field. She remembers each of her student even if you've never personally spoken to her. If you go to her office hours and meet with her she is incredibly kind and chill.
she can come off as strict and intimidating, but if you talk to her she is very caring. Not an easy class, but you will learn so much. Be ready to work alot, because it will be one of the most valuable classes you'll take in B school
She doesn't give you rubrics for any assignments and then her TA's wreck you on the grading.
Teaching quality was inconsistent and often felt subjective. Grading and feedback did not always seem applied evenly, and students who were not personally favored appeared to be judged more harshly. Classroom environment could feel uncomfortable at times, and attempts at humor often felt forced rather than engaging. Please avoid her
HER 5 RATINGS ARE ALL FORCED TO GET PARTICIPATION, DO NOT TRUST AND RUN
Grading is painfully subjective with no transparency. Expectations constantly shift, feedback rarely matches the score, and students are left guessing what she wants. This creates an unfair and discouraging environment where effort does not reliably translate into results.
The grading is completely subjective, and there appears to be bias in both evaluation and classroom interactions. Students who don't align with the professor's expectations or personality are treated more harshly. Attempts to be “relatable” or funny often feel forced and come across as inauthentic rather than supportive.
The amount of outside-of-class work required is excessive and completely unreasonable for the credit hours. Even worse, success in this class seems to depend less on effort or quality and more on whether the professor personally likes you. Grading is extremely subjective and favoritism is very noticeable.
This class is far more work than advertised, and the grading lacks transparency. Expectations constantly shift, and feedback doesn't clearly explain point deductions. Several students felt that personal rapport mattered more than academic performance. If you value fairness and clarity, avoid this course.
I wish I had listened to earlier warnings.... Literally painful to sit in her class and listen to her attempts to be funny and relatable..
f the professor doesn't like you, it feels like she will find any excuse to screw you over. Minor issues are magnified, points are taken off inconsistently, and grading feels more like punishment than evaluation. Extremely subjective and unfair.
Similar work receives very different scores, with no clear justification. PLEASE DONT PICK HER
Rlly dont see how she got 100+ 5 ratings ( probably forced it from students ). Random grading and strict TAs that will do anything to screw you over
don't know why shes still not fired yet....
grades subjectively, no idea where 50% of my grade came from.
Running into her used up all the bad luck I'll ever have in my life.
Grading in this class felt highly subjective and inconsistent. If you dont suck up to her, its over
If misfortune had a final boss, meeting her was it.
I would do anything to avoid taking her class again
I genuinely dreaded going to that class.
She's the definition of hypocrisy
You will not know why you ended up with that grade
She grades you according to her mood of the day
Literally the worst prof I've ever had. She deserves the amount of hate she receives
I literally tried so hard to get an A, will not recommend going through it
Impossible to tell how you're doing in the class or why you received a certain grade. boring lectures and exams with material that is barely covered in class.
