Had him for Micro online. He will tell you that the class is difficult and there's a lot of information to digest quickly. There are 10 quizzes and he replaces lowest quiz score with your syllabus quiz score, so try and max that out. Only gave us 1 shot at each quiz. 3 exams, and drops the lowest score. Do extra study plan questions in each chap.

Great professor! Gives immediate feedback on tests and quizes. Drops your lowest grade of quizes and lowest grade of the 4 exams. The class is difficult but Rex is aware of that and will help in anyway he can. I would recommend taking Econ from him.

Class was difficult and there was a lot to learn. Tests are weighted heavy so studying for that is key. Professor gave great feedback and the class was straight forward.

You will need to dedicate time to reading the textbook. Many of the homework and test problems will ask you to analyze a graph and choose an answer that best describes the movement of data points on the graphs. The textbook generally prepares you for the tests, but Professor Ballinger was very helpful in clarifying any unclear stuff from the book.

Rex was a great professor! Clear grading criteria and his lectures were very helpful. Class is not mandatory, but will help you prepare for exams! He drops lowest HW and test scores at then end of semester. All HW and readings done from online MindTap textbook software (around $90). Great guy though, very approachable for extra help!

Lot of notes, but they're all online so you dont have to show up to class. However, you should to ask questions. He's a really caring person and is always open when you need help. 4 Tests & 13 homework assignments, that's all. 2 lowest HW and 1 lowest test are dropped.

I can't find a single thing to complain about. Always communicating, fair in grading and other things, reactive to world events, stern yet completely fair and respectable. Organized materials also help a lot. I really wish the rest of my professors could be as straight forward and fair as Mr. Ballinger. - Great Experience

The course outline is very clear. The professor is very helpful and is quick to respond to questions. Do your readings and use all the extra material the professor provides as they do assist. The homework is easy to moderately difficult.. But the exams are a whole other story, make use of the tutoring available to you cause the exams not easy.

A great guy and professor- nice, professional, very knowledgeable, and sets clear expectations. But bring your A game and get comfy with your textbook- this is the "weeding out" class for Econ majors. Expect 3 tough exams (open note and open book), 4-5 moderately difficult problem sets, and a small participation grade. Highly recommended!

Very nice guy and knowledgable professor, but this class isn't easy. He gives at least a 10% curve on each exam because many people fail. As long as you make sure to go to class, take good notes, and go to the tutoring center to do all of the problem sets you will be fine for the exams. Open note but limited time so you must know the material.

Prof B had the challenge of teaching some hard abstract concepts in a short time frame, but he was quick to answer questions and was encouraging in his responses. Get the Cengage app on your phone. Homework is only 5 questions each chapter, so do the practice problems also. Watch out for tricky wording though in the material.

I took this class online in 7 week timeframe. I will tell you its a lot of work, please be prepared to read, study, homework, and listen to lectures. My advice is to stay on top of the assignments and studying. Great at responding to questions. I deserved the grade I got due to the lack of studying. Study!!!!!!!!

this class was not as bad as I thought it would be, but rofessor Ballinger answers any questions you have in a timely manner and he puts great detail in his answers. You will have to put in the effort but he does drop your lowest homework and test score, make sure you take the final it will definitely be worth it!

He is a great professor and very knowledgable. He teaches the class form an unbiased perspective and is a fair professor. His homeworks are very helpful for the tests. You take 4 tests and drop your lowest grade and do 16 homeworks and drop your 2 lowest grades. Very reasonable grader.

Professor Ballinger genuinely cares about the content he is teaching and his student's grades. If you participate in class or go to his office hours, he'll remember your name. Homework is applicable to tests and there are practice tests online with good feedback.

Prof. Ballinger rocks. He is excellent in his understanding of Econ, however the material is very hard so make sure to ask questions if you begin to get off track, otherwise you'll get lost quick. His lectures are very interesting and he provides good examples. Homework allows best of 3 submissions for each question which is a big grade booster.

Professor Ballinger is very clear on what he expects from his students taking this course. This class is not easy and you do have to put a lot of work into studying if you want a good grade. Rex is an awesome guy. I was in a lecture hall with 300+ students and he managed to memorize the names of at least a third because he genuinely cares. My only issue is that the content of this course is so different from other macroeconomics classes. Half the tutors I went to for help had never done this work and that was a little frustrating.

Ballinger is a super great professor and definitely tries his best to make students understand difficult concepts. Econ as a whole was quite difficult, but going into Ballinger's office hours helped a lot. Take advantage of that, he will answer any questions you have. Drops lowest exam score.

Slightly challenging course, but an A is very possible. Professor Ballinger is pretty fair, overall. Just attend lecture and study PPT slides (in detail) before the exams. While reading helps, I found it a little unnecessary. There are 16 homework assignments, 3 midterms, 1 final (Exam 3 was the hardest). You can also drop 1 exam and 2 homeworks.

Nice guy. Class content matched the textbook, which was great for studying. 312 is a difficult class no matter the professor from what I hear. Tests are open note but difficult to finish on time even if you know everything (usually 50% fail rate). I only got an A+ because I put a lot of effort into the class.

I was extremely intimidated by this class. However, Professor Ballinger gave us everything to be successful. You get three tries on each homework answer. There 14 homework assignments and four exams. He drops your lowest grade in both sections. Exams are intimidating as they are proctored for online students.

The amount of resources given to succeed in this class is amazing! Rex was phenomenal at responding in a timely manner and was very supportive and motivating. This content isnt fun to learn but Ballinger made our corse as easy as he possibly could while still being held up to ASUs high standards. This class is proctored but its not hard. He drops 2 lowest homeworks and lowest test (out of 4). Great teacher and hopefully Ill have him again.

Macroeconomics, clearly not an easy course. You do really have to work for it. Rex made the class very enjoyable with great organization, wonderful online videos and power points, and clear course expectations. Rex had a regular presence in online announcements as well as discussion board. Very quick to respond to email. A great Professor.

You can tell Professor Ballinger really loves Economics. He is willing to help you understand the content. The tests are SO difficult. I would definitely recommend doing the Adaptive test prep and practice midterms well in advance so you have plenty of time to study and ask questions. Good news is that he throws out your lowest test and hw score!

Difficult class, period. You must know what the subject matter is, front and back. Book kinda helps but does not give you examples of what he is asking. Great professor, but he will ask questions on tests that are similar to the problem sets but you will not be able to finish the test if you reference the book (highly suggest reading the chapters)

This class is difficult no matter which professor you take it with. If you want to do well in this class you must read your textbook, go to office hours, go to tutoring, and make great study groups. The exam is fairly similar to the problem sets so I would spend a good amount of time studying those and memorizing steps to equations.

Int Micro is designed to make you realize either you are capable of studying economics, or need to change major. That said, you will work extremely hard for your grade in this class, but if you put forth the effort- you can pass! Prof B is a very attentive professor and a smart choice when selecting a micro class. Lots of homework- but it helps!

Ballinger was really encouraging and supportive. His grading was clear, you drop your 2 lowest test scores, which was nice. Overall an enjoyable course.

Honestly, anyone who gives him a bad review just didn't work hard enough. He gives extra credit throughout the class, is always available for help/feedback, and drops your lowest exam score and 2 lowest homework scores. Reading is 2-3 chapters of the textbook each week & he provides TONS of study material. great prof overall!!

Professor B is really great! If you have a chance TAKE HIS CLASS! He was very involved and you can tell he cares about his students and wants them to do well and succeed in the course. Just do the work he assigns and you'll do good!

ProfB (as he requests to be called) clearly cares about his students and their success in his course. He seems to be a really nice guy, and he offers a TON of extra credit. Without it, I would not have passed the class. He also drops your four lowest assignment scores and your lowest exam score. However, there are four exams and none are open book.

Not an easy class but I highly recommend taking this class with Rex. His lectures and class structure are very organized. The exams are very similar to the homework. The material is very interesting but keep in mind this class is no cake walk due to the nature of the the material. Good luck.

I'm not understanding anyone saying he is a difficult Professor. In an excellerated online class, you're doing 2-3 chapters per week, with 3 attempts allowed for the HW. He offers study guides for all exams, no surprises. So yes, you actually have to study to get an A. He drops your two lowest HW and lowest exam for the semester so an A is doable

Prof B was awesome for an online class. He always replied with in depth explanations on the discussion board and was overall a cool guy. No chance for extra credit but the homework was relatively easy and straight forward. Exams were tough but VERY similar to the review/practice tests. Honestly made me like Econ again. Take him if you can!

My favorite ecn professor. I took him in both ecn211 and 312. Very helpful in office hours.

Expect to spend most of your time on this class reading the e-text. The class moves fast but if you stay on top of your reading it's fine. He will drop your lowest of four exams as well as your two lowest homework assignments, which is more than fair. He also provides good feedback on homework questions that the class struggles with overall.

If I could take this class again, I would have stayed ahead in the material. It's a lot to take in and try to digest in such a short time, however it's pertinent to everyday life. What you learn in this class is likely going to translate well into whatever you do, so it's worth your devout time and sincere effort.

First thing - 312 is the hardest ECN class, no matter who teaches it. ProfB is very caring. But you will need to put on your big kid pants and get to work if you want to be an ECN major or minor. There is a ton of hard math. I like that he posts videos reviewing what people struggle on in the HW and Exams. Downside: 55% of total grade is 2 exams.

I took this professor for both ECN 211 and 212. Both times I got a B in the class and I am a horrible test taker. For both of my online classes, he took the lowest test and homework scores out, then gave extra points at the end. Highly recommend!

Awesome professor. Drops lowest 2 homeworks and lowest exam. Opportunity to earn extra points at the end of the semester and at the beginning of class also. Practice exams similar to actual exam. Highly recommend. Don't listen to the people giving him a 1 rating. If they gave a 1 rating it's because they really did nothing the entire course.

OMBA core class. No midterms and finals just several group projects, HW in Mindtap, YellowDig & quizzes. Each quiz has two parts: multiple choice and a 500-word essay and they are not timed. Prof. Rex is amazing. He is interactive and use recent events to teach a good class. Gives good feedback and uses Slack. Would take him again!

Don't understand the criticism in the other posts. Prof. B is legit I learned a lot in the class. The first half of the class is pretty basic but then ramps up. As long as you watch the lectures and read your book you should be fine. You will have to study to get an +A. Practice the charts and how they react to things.

Professor Ballinger is one of the best teachers/professors I have had. He cares about your learning and will do everything to help you and ensure your success. The only shame is that he doesn't teach all of the Economics courses! He is fair with his grading and occasionally provides extra credit.

Reading the textbook is mandatory for a decent grade. Homework gives you 3 tries to get each of the questions correct. 4 exams but your lowest exam score is dropped. TAKE THE PRACTICE EXAMS!! Not too hard if you stay up on reading the textbook

Professor Ballinger is a great economics professor. The class itself is difficult but he offers extra credit and drops the two lowest homework grades (14 total, drops 2) and the lowest exam grade (4 total, drops 1) He also responds to emails very fast, highly recommend!

Prof B is a great teacher, he sets clear guidelines, has many resources to help you succeed, and gives feedback on everything. However, be aware that your success in the class is heavily dependent on time management. The chapters can be long and there is a lot of material. You need to use the practice material and Inscribe community to do well.

Has a "Life Happens" plan where you have no exemptions from the class because although he may seem strict, the two lowest homework grades (out of 14) are dropped and the lowest exam grade (out of 3 "midterms" and the final) are also dropped. Lots of reading and lecture but he offers sources like InScribe for questions to him and fellow students.

Professor Ballinger is a great economics professor. Out of the 4 exams your lowest exam score is dropped as well as your 2 lowest homework scores. This was very beneficial for me as I am not the best when it comes to economics. There is a lot of textbook reading to do and as well as lecture videos. Don't procrastinate as that will put you behind.

Amazing professor, kind and knowledgeable. Extremely thorough and accurate announcements, responds quickly. 3 midterms and the Final are proctored, but lowest score is dropped. He uses Cengage which honestly was great. I will be taking him again, the material was harder than I anticipated though, be sure to use the review questions regularly.

Most involved and helpful professor I've had at ASU online. He uses slack to answer any questions and provides video tutorials on difficult questions. He does a zoom before each exam to guide you in what to study. Absolutely take him if you need to take ECN 312. Keep in mind the material is very difficult, so you'll still have a lot of work.

Dr. Ballinger is the man. He is undoubtedly the hardest professor I have ever had, but he cares a lot about the success of his students. 3 Assignments are due a week with 20 Calculus questions each, two tests. He allows notes on exams. He uses slack and is accessible 24/7. He is an amazing professor but the class is EXTREMELY challenging.

Easy A or B if you READ THE TEXTBOOK. 1 HW and quiz a week. HW & quizzes get 3 attempts. 3 exams plus final. Lowest quiz & exam/final dropped & lowest 2 HW dropped. No extra credit. For each exam there is a practice test VERY similar to the real one. DO IT AND STUDY OFF IT! Get 3 days to complete each exam & use honorlock. Must buy textbook 4 HW.

There is a lot with this class. Read the chapter, do the practice tests, watch the videos DO YOUR HOMEWORK. You have 3 chances with your homework for the right answer and you keep the best grade. 2 of the lowest HW's and 1 test get dropped. Not an easy class if you don't pay attention but it's a passable class if you do the work. Good prof.

I took an accelerated 8 week course for this class, and I think Rex did an amazing job pacing it. The content is very difficult. I took it as my only class that half semester because the information is almost overwhelming. But he does drop you lowest test score, and that's how I got my B.

ProfB is a great professor. He's very quick to respond to questions on Inscribe. His class is laid out very well. Do your practice applications. Almost all those skills translate to the exams. I would highly recommend ProfB to any type of learner. Cheers.

One of my favorite professors that I have taken a class from. Material can be difficult, but you can do well if you study hard and use the practice material.

Nice professor. If you watch lecture videos, read slides, and do practice tests provided you will do well on exams. He provides extra help on material he notices most of the class gets incorrect on homework or exams.

Will have to use i believe its mcgraw hill, your textbook will be available there, as well as weekly quizzes. reading the required chapters is helpful for exams. watch weekly videos. exams are close note on honor lock. Dropped lowest exam score.

The exams were hard, but the practice exams helped a lot and had a lot of similar questions. Exams are closed note/honorlock, lowest exam score got dropped. Get perfect scores on the homework assignments, they really help with the overall grade. Professor B was very active in the class and tries his best to help as much as possible.

There were many opportunities to raise my grade through multiple attempts on homework in Mindtap, and plenty of material to study through test prep practice exams and some of the lowest grades get dropped. I appreciated the video recaps done by Professor Ballinger which outlined important things coming up. I would take another class of his again!

Great professor, however with the class being accelerated there are things he can do to help students be more successful. Three midterms and a final all proctored. No notes, no help at all. Just students and their brain's with honorlock calculator. Not a hard class, but a lot to retain. Hope my feedback will help future students.

I really liked Ballinger. His Zoom office hours in particular really lit a fire in me regarding macroecon. If you stay on the ball and do the readings, attend SI, and really dig into Mindtap, you will do well in this course. Highly recommend Professor B for ECN 211.
