Not a real brite guy, but not incredably hard eather. If you don't like economics, I would say take this teacher. But if you are at all interested in learning something, take someone else.
total dork. play the guessing game on his tests and hope you do better than the rest of the class. grades are based on a curve.
always telling jokes. Just read the material and do the book report and letter to edit and you will do fine.
You won't understand a word he says, but he grades on a curve and I got an A. Just do the work and show up for class. Not good if you're interested in learning something.
Very hard to understand and follow lecture. You have to listen inbetween the lines of all his lame jokes in order to jot down the info you acutally need. Tests were hard, and the book report was rediculous
I loved it!!!!!!

Tries to be funny but is not. Comes to class **** all the time. Doesn't teach anything and expects you to pass the test. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!
This teacher is the WORST of the WORST! He is SCUM! Tell stupid life stories about how he lost all his money and thats the class. Tests are EXTREMELY hard. WARNING TO EVERYONE. Doesn't teach the material for the life of him. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!!!!!!
Teacher is really weird. Although class is sort of interesting becuase he is so weird. His tests are fairly hard but if you have half a brain you should get a good grade because he curves the tests a lot. He is very willing to help if you need it.
aaahhhhh... shot me in the face please. this is the most boring class i have ever taken. you are basically gauranteed a C.. anything else you should take as a gift from the gods. bazzar tests. Hint hint(old tests from him could help alot)
The economics department at moorpark sucks. with that being said Edwards is the best teacher you can get. It's either him or Frohman. Trust me you don't want her. Read the book, do the homework and you will do fine. I got a B.
His curve makes getting a good grade on tests easy. ( you can get a D, but end up getting a B because of the curve!). Dont forget to ask for the EASY extra credit...you hvae to ask or he wont tell you about it. Funny goof ball!
Great Teacher. Just get a high F on the Tests and you get a C or B or maybe an A. Its great. Then he takes the entire next class period to do the curve.
Has unique teaching style. Jokes are funny if you have half of a brain. Tests also not difficult if you have half of a brain. Available often for office hours and very helpful and lenient if you just take the time to talk to him now and then Great guy!
economics is AWESOME with edwards. he is so funny and goofy. he loves to do nothing. easy if you have some background with econ. its a total of 4 to 6 assignments all semester. FUN!
Didn't learn anything; talks about himself the entire time; you have to teach yourself; makes you turn in reports and a letter; 2 weeks into class- shows a picture of people eating in India
I'm gonna cry.

hard, scatter-brained, class boring, tedious boring assignments, i dropped
What a waste of 15 weeks. I was in financial services for 5 years and Edwards didn't teach me a damn thing. No logic or flow to his teachcing style whatsoever. THE worst teacher at MC, hands down. Get organized and get a good toupee!
Buster Keaton has nothing on him. Mr. Rex, when you pass on can I have your cactus-fiber folder? I need something to go with the burrito thong you gave me last semester. I must say, I find your choice of belongings very economic. Burrito wear means I never go hungry.
boring...and talks alot...he has a phd omg he explains in his own words that most wont understand wat he is saying. over all he's really really nice and has a funny laugh but i wont take his class again...
Very nice guy. Easy assignments. He is Scatterbrained in a very good way. He has the entire class roling with his politicaly incorrect jokes.
Easy class..the tests are hard, but if you study and do reasonably well, the curve is enough to give you an A. This guys is hilarious and his curve is great and makes the class an easy A.
A very bland teacher but a nice guy in general. Tests were hard but the assignments were do-able.Many find him boring,he is in a way but does crack a few jokes to wake everyone up which can be either funny or not,go along with it.
both classes are sweet. he is lame at first but then he just cracks you up (extremely goofy). the class is 98% self-taught, hes clumsy, and forgets about midterms and finals. assigns no hw. all class period he just talks about his awesome/wild experiences.
Funny guy, loves to tell jokes, read the book and you'll do good, always happy to help.
Awesome teacher, you do have to read the book for the tests though, other than that it was a very fun class
He has a great sense of humor and he grades on a curve which makes your grade higher than it should be everytime. I got an A when I technically would've earned about a C. Great teacher!
Class was good..he is funny..no homework..we set the curves on each test...extra credit to boost your grade..and he is always there for extra help. Get a good laugh....read if you want to learn..but definetly take this class with Rex he one of those profs...you just never forget...
easy C teacher........if you try and study (dont take this class) , you will kill the 50% grade avg....dont do it.... that 50% somehow will turn into a 80%...great teacher ...ha
DONT TAKE THIS CLASS if you want to learn something...i think this guy made me dumber just listening to him-no joke! I got a C because he didnt teach anything and his tests were supposed to be curved but there is always somebody who gets a good score so it doesnt matter...take my advice, dont take this class!
EASY professor. His lectures kept me awake at 8:30 in the morning, and he shows you how economics applies in the real world. His tests were based on what he did on the board, and the definitions that he told you were important. I didn't open the book once. Look at him while he lectures, and come to class. I got a very easy A.
He is crazy. . . but verrrrrrrrry entertaining!! You will get a good laugh in this class, and its not too hard to get a good grade on the tests!
Very easy, just understand the material and you will do fine. He grades on a huge curve so if you get close to the top score on a test, he'll give you an A. I've gotten C's on the tests and because everyone else did that good or less, it was an A. He's also goofy but funny. Definitely recommend.
Great guy!! but ok teacher. he lectures the whole period and can get pretty boring. but will keep u awake with his humor!!!! very funny man!
Great fn teacher, as much as his teaching is abstract you can learn a lot from the man. By the way he is sooo funny.
Class should have been called Intro to India, learned nothing but hes a nice guy and I got an A with the high curve on the tests. Macro is pointless, Micro owns it.
super hard on tests, no hw, doesnt teach the topic, you have to apply it yourself
EXTREMLY NICE GUY BUT when it comes to learning he completly lost me in class...nobody ever shows up and he doesnt really teach he gives u stories but doesnt explain economy very well...i went to his office hours and he was sooooo much better then in class! honestly he is a very nice guy but thats it....easy B he gives you a curve!
Mr. Edwards is a nice teacher, although is teaching methods differ from most teachers. He presents the material to you, and it is up to you to run with it and apply yourself. He is a nice guy and he is easy to make friends with. If you want to pass the class you must practice the online H.W. Reading the text only helps in Macro. Easy Class to pass!
If you want to learn about macro take someone else!!!!!! Don't get me wrong he's a very nice guy, and funny but doesnt really teach. He doesnt let you know what your grade is until the end of the semester. tests are hard, but as long as you do the online H.W. and all the reports you should be ok. Take a different teacher if possible.
This guy is unreal. If your a lazy student dont waste your time, because you will be lost. I had a great time. If you skip this opportunity to have this class your really missing out.
Probably the worst teacher I have ever had. I don't think I learned one single thing in his class. If you want to learn don't take this class. If you don't care about learning, you can probably get a C without going to one class and doing the report. DO NOT TAKE HIM! I REPEAT, DO NOT TAKE HIM!
if u care about your gpa do NOT take this class. i am an A student and i got a C in his class. boring, incomrhensible and his tests are impossible. worst teacher i ever had.
Great teacher. Very caring and funny. He is the best economics teacher around. He makes the class fun and interesting. Awesome. Take his class.
Honestly, he's a great person but has trouble staying on topic and rarely teaches the material. Talks non-stop about his own life and has stories for everything. If you want to teach yourself econ then this is the class for you. His teaching strategies are very weak and uneffective.
Worst teacher ever. He doesn't teach at all. He tries to tell lame jokes the entire time. His tests are ridiculously hard. You have no idea what to study b/c his study guides are wrong! He does a crazy curve though so if everyone fails than everyone passes.
He tells the same jokes everyday and rarely gets a hlaf hour of material in. The material doesnot resemble the text book and its difficult to follow. the curve is ridiculous so you could still pass if u scored a 50%. not a good prof at all.
Serious teacher, but lots of jokes. Very knowldegable. Knows his stuff and available to help outside class. University level. Encourages width of knowledge. You should take this prof. if you want to do well at the univ. Take the Mr.O if you want an easy A with no work and classes always off way early. I'm doing well at USC,thanks to Dr.Edwards.
I learned a lot about economics from taking his class that i wouldn't have learned from any other teacher. His jokes really overshadow his teaching, and most are too caught up in the jokes to actually grasp the relativity between the joke and the subject. I personally thought he was hillarious, got an A in his class, and had a great time doing it
Great teacher. Really smart guy. In order to enjoy him and his teaching style you really have to be participative and not lazy. If you have an interest in economics he is a gold mine of info but if you only want the credit, find another teacher.
i took two classes with him i absolutely loved him very understanding and helpful i am sorry there is no other class that he teaches i am going to miss him and his funny texas jokes.
REX IS A MUST TAKE! Attendance is not mandatory, but that isnt even the good stuff. He is hillarious teacher but make sure to call him DR. Edwards, man worked hard for his degree. Text book useage is limited he gives you great study notes for every test. Make sure to do the Country Report.
Dr. Edwards is the manifestation of the perfect college professor. He teaches through his stories, and the class gets a kick out of them the whole time. Easily one of the best professors at Moorpark College!
HE KNOWS HIS STUFF! ONLINE COURSE WITH STUDY SESSIONS BEFORE THE MID TERM AND FINAL. I LEARNED A LOT OF INFORMATION. TEXT WAS AN EASY READ AND THE DVD DID NOT PUT ME TO SLEEP EITHER.
Pretty funny, and rather insane. But doesn't really teach at all. Tells jokes and stories all day. Makes class kinda interesting sometimes (emphasis on the sometimes). Grades on a curve, which helps a lot of people pass his tests.
this guy is a loon. classes dragged on... i took this class with my cousin and we were constantly looking at eachother in disbelief... he really should focus on keeping his bedside manners to himself, sharing he had a mail order bride... geez.
Hard.Willing to help you.Study the workbook and READ!Watch all videos.Go to study sessions. My USED DVD's on ebay for sale.Choices & Change Macroeconomics lessons 1-14.
you need to know math!
Edward's is the funniest guy ever! His jokes are hillarious. I learned a lot in his class even tough others say he doesnt teach. He is a great guy, very nice. You need to study the book alot and math. Edward's Knows his stuff.
Brilliant Teacher! Knows his stuff but has a dry sense of humor.
Professor Edwards is an avid Texas nationalist & an okay professor. Though he does come across as a loon with a dry sense of humor a lot though. He tells you a lot about his family history and personal life, so expect to hear it.
I think I actually lost a significant amount of brain power after taking this course. This guys an awful teacher I'd give him a negative eighty on a one to ten scale.
This class was ointless....He did not eve talk bout economics and the workload is ridicuous. His lectures were the hardest lectures I have ever had to follow. Do not take him...Nice guy though..fun personality....bad teacher
If you're a business/economics major, take him. He knows what he's talking about, however if this class doesn't interest you it can be hard to follow. Tests are curved.
He is a really funny guy and he knows his stuff. But you kind of need to teach yourself all of the materiel. He does curve and its always a huge curve too so dont worry too much.
uhm, i wasted my time, money, energy, brain on this guy. he is a lost cause. i don't know what he is talking about half the time. his tests are ridiculous. he does not teach a damn thing. ok as a person-i guess.
A on the midterm. A on the project. A on the final. C in the class. still haven't figured that one out.
he likes to connect his teachings with his life stories. not a whole lot to learn in class, but it is helpful to show up to class, just laugh at his jokes and he will like you. test are curved cause theyre so hard. theres one major paper to write, it needs to be 8 pages about an econ book you read. i got an A on it and wrote it the night before
Dr. Edwards is a great teacher. The class is very easy and he never takes attendance. He teaches almost nothing during class so get ready to read a good amount. He uses aplia which is really helpful. Huge curves on midterms. The best part about him is he has so many great stories and practical econ applications.
He is crazy, as everyone else has been saying. His tests are pretty hard but he gives out a lot of extra credit. I rarely went to class or read the book and I am expecting an A in the class (grades haven't come out yet). Overall, I would recommend talking him but with caution! His stories are funny but aplia sucks.
This professor knows his stuff but doesn't know how to teach. Doesn't require you really know the concepts/terms of micro. Class is all math and graphs. Tests are ridiculous (and subjective grading). Allows extra credit but doesn't do any good. I'm an A/B student and I got a C. Don't waste your time!
Whatever you do, don't take his televideo course. There are TONS of online homework assignments that you're graded for, but they're only worth 10%. The rest of your grade is based on the midterm and the final --- which are ridiculous, to say the least (all math/graphing --- no concepts/terms). If you want to learn microeconomics, take someone else.
DONT EVER TAKE HIS CLASS HE IS HORRIBLE! none of the lectures are revelent to the text and is grading sucks! I REPEAT DONT EVER TAKE THIS CLASS!!!!
Do the homework & assignment, read the book & watch videos. Study for the tests with flashcards & the study guide. Go to his study reviews b4 the mid/final & he will narrow down exactly what you need to know. Grades on generous curve & most students don't study (helps you!). I have DVD's & study guide to sell cheap email me [email protected]
His jokes are NOT funny and mostly made up! People who like him are socially inept, like him. Wont learn anything about Econ from his lectures. You will learn about his mail order bride and family though. Listening to him in class is painful and u will most likely not come to class because of this. After class people gather to recount how bad he is
I never went to class, did the online hw once a week and bs the essay competely. Failed both test but curve made them a C. Got a B in class HaHAH
THE.WORST.TEACHER.EVER!!!! Don't take his class. He is unorganized, and his lectures consist of him telling you about his mail order bride and drug dealer neighbor in sylmar! He doesn't teach and his study guides have NOTHING to do with the tests. You wont learn anything. Yeah he grades on a curve because he has ten year and doesnt care! HATE HATE!
This class confused me. He's lectures drone on and he is extremely obnoxious. He makes awful jokes and his class has NOTHING to do with the tests. His study guides suck. He grades on such a curve it should be a crime. My grade went up over 60% because of it...I learned nothing yet got an A...not because I'm a bad student but b/c his class is so bad
Took the honors macro-econ class. Dr. Edwards is an extremely intelligent His jokes are actually rly funny if you can keep up with him. He tells lots of stories attendance is not mandatory He teaches very little and confuses people the tests are totally random and you never kno whats on them Grades on a huge curve. Easy class but u wont learn much
Hes a proud Texan and makes not of it. Always talks about Texas, makes jokes that no one can follow and talks about his life more than economics. Learned nothing from his class. The book is completely irrelevant to what he "teaches" The tests are even MORE irrelevant. The curve is RIDICULOUS since noone knows whats on the test since he doesnt teach
Rex Edwards' lectures are useless to the material. He tells tons of stories and makes bad and a few good jokes. He specifies to focus on the midterms and cumulative final. Overall, the class is depressing and boring. If you have tough skin or no other choice to take him. Good luck.
Means well, expects you to explore the content on your own. He creates a huge gap between you and the course, a gap in which becomes his challenge to you in which you must close with your own ideas and intellectual. To understand his specific teaching style more look here: http://www.grassapplekids.com/A8-teachers-test.html
The teacher has difficulty teaching without ranting on about some ridiculous story. I wish I read his rating before I took his class Basically if you already know how to do econ you should be fine otherwise good luck.
DON'T BOTHER BUYING THE BOOK! All homework is online, and you HAVE to buy a subscription to the website for this class -- the full textbook is on the homework site and fully printable. Edwards is as nutty as a squirrel's closet, and doesn't teach anything at all. Hilariously odd and humorous, but not helpful. Never went to class, got an A.
Im sittin in his class now haha. The lectures always start out on somethin based on econ and end with somethin totally irrelevant. Right now hes talkin about mad cow disease haha. Just sit in class and bring somethin to do other than listen cause listenin is kind of a waste
Knows the subject, has funny jokes. class seems long, don't ever need the textbook, tests are from the overhead. 2 tests, 1 project, 1 letter, and a final. easy class to pass
Not mandatory to attend class, all homework online, lectures are usually irrelevant to anything important, huge curve on every test, one book report. Would definitely recommend especially if youre just taking Econ as a pre req
Strange sense of humor but an expert on the material
Dr.Edwards is a very nice and helpful teacher. He really knows his economics. He tells lots of stories, but each one of them apply to his econ lecture. He expects students to study regularly and think for themselves. Work is reasonable. Grading is fair. If you want to learn economics take this prof. Great teacher.
this teacher has done a lot of drugs in his past. he is nuts. the class is very boring. he talks non stop, and goes off on random tangents. he fails every test, then curves it to make everyone pass.
If you were interested in Indian History, Texan humor, or stories about selling grain and pigs, this is your class. He is a wonderful guy, and great conversationalist, however he is a terrible teacher. His grading curve is a joke, its an insult not to pass. If you plan on being an econ major, or actually want to learn, don't take this class.
Alot of the these commments are valid and true but I just took Micro and somehow I got an A. I got a D and F on the midterms but they curved up to a B and C and I asked a lot of questions to clarify because half the time it doesn't make since- do the homework, extra credit, and rent the old exams out of the library and take the practice tests
I was impressed by this profs knowledge and accessibility. I found him super helpful, and always in his office during office hours. Well traveled and has a multicultural approach. Grades by a curve, requires writing, and is a bit harder than the other prof. A very nice fellow. Loved the class and the prof.
Very learned and helpful.Grades by a curve, and so you can get 65% and still be the highest score in the class and an A. Teaches closer to the univ level than the other instructor, and so is a bit hard for the average student. Great to chat with about Economics outside the class.
Good teacher but a little too lax with people who are not there to study but just need an ez A. Tells jokes and stories -but you to know the background to get some of them. Outside class he is helpful and can talk economics to make it fun. I thought this instructor was GREAT. But you have to study.
Teacher knows economics but cannot teach it. This guy should be fired. Take this class if you dont want to go to class much, and b.s your way through
I really got a lot out of this class. The subject was interesting. The professor explained things I didn't understand when I went to his office hours. The class is not easy, but not that difficult either. He grades by a curve -as they also do in my univ. classes. Good teacher. Very knowledgable. I recommend his classes.
Loved the class. Prof. Edwards is amazingly knowldgable about Economics and other matters. I found the class very interesting and the prof very helpful. Not an easy class, but I studied regularly, read the chapters and did not miss class. It helped. Grading is by a curve. Good class. Very good teacher.
He's the nicest guy ever but never stayed on track. He doesn't stick to the dates on the syllabus and the majority of the stuff on the test is in the book and not taught in class. I highly recommend reading the book and attending class so you know when he changes dates or gives assignments.
This instructor is a very nice fellow and highly educated. You can really learn from him if you want to. He won't teach everythng, but gives a good overview of everything you need to know. He pushes you into reading the text and other outside stuff for yourself. Great univ prep for any serious student. Recommended.
Doesn't exactly teach. Usually keeps a slide of vocab on the board while he talks about his past experiences that have nothing to do with the class. He'll answer your questions but gets sidetracked in minutes. Heavy use on textbook, and online homework.
I had this prof for Micro, and am now taking his Macro class. He's eccentric, has a weird sense of humor, and a lot of experience in his field. The stories he tells are connected to what we are learning, but he can make those connections unclear sometimes. Generous curve, homework, 2-3 exams. He wants you to succeed, he's just a bit weird.
Rex should be teaching a MUCH higher level econ class at berkley or something.. I wont bag on the guy cuz his intentions are good but he shouldnt be incharge of the intro classes but thats not his fault. The class is intersting only because of his crazy stories and his laugh. But the test material seems to come from no where! goodluck, seriously...
Horrible. On top of the class fee, he makes you pay for an online course. he doesn't take attendance which is good, but if your want to learn anything don't take him, he doesn't teach at all during class, but expects you to do the lessons all online with no explanation. tests have nothing to do with anything... don't take him
Firstly, you have to pay for Aplia, though the homework rarely connects with material we see on the midterms and final. He usually talks about very random things that connect remotely with the topic, but doesn't really help students learn material. Curve is generous, but you need to learn it yourself.
Taking this prof is a suffering. Sure, he does not take attendance yet his buzzing voice is truly a pain. He tries to be funny yet his lectures are hard. Seriously, econ majors must have been taking pills to last long on this class.
You have to pay money to do online homework that doesn't have much to do with tests at all. He usually rambles on about where he used to live, about India, and about his wife. You don't really learn much in his class and you have to basically teach yourself. You don't need to come to class since he doesn't take attendance often.
Edwards is your stereotypical college professor. Crazy, cooky yet extremely intelligent. Has students best interests in mind and grades with a generous curve. Entertaining lectures because of his weirdness, but not the best. Do the reading, and if you can see him at office hours because it can be very helpful and is a very nice man.
ECON M01&M02: I really learned a lot from the Micro and Macroecon classes I took with Prof.Edwards. He is funny, and amazingly well-educated. His lectures give a good overview, but you have to read the textbook, and do the assignments and ask questions when you don't understand something. He's a very nice and helpful person.Loved both classes!
Spends most of his lectures talking about random topics, usually not econ related. He has an odd sense of humor that I thought was offensive. Online homework is hard. Isn't clear about what is going to be on tests. It is useful if you have previous knowledge of econ, if not good luck reading the book and teaching yourself.
Smart. Eccentric. Generous. Sometimes confusing. I'm not the least bit business saavy but still got a B. Put in time and you should be fine. He'll answer your questions in the classroom without making you feel stupid, and I heard he was very helpful when you ask questions outside the classroom. He takes getting used to...
Smart. Eccentric. Confusing. But he will answer questions inside and outside the classroom. Generous with grading. I'm not business saavy but got a B. Do the work, read between the lines, don't let yourself go crazy and you should be fine. He takes time to get used to, but he knows his econ. Just not the greatest at teaching...
Professor Edwards is kind and has a sense of humor. He grades with a really generous curve, which is what saved me from getting a bad grade. I learned close to nothing from the lectures, and had to learn most of the material on my own. I wouldn't recommend taking his class. However, if you talk to him in his office he explains things much better.
Took for ECON M01 and M02 at the same time and got As in both. Interesting lectures but had little to do with econ. He's a cool guy with a dark/twisted sense of humor. Didn't learn much from attending class so you mostly teach yourself. However test curves are extremely generous. One of my Ds got curved to an A. Just read the book and take notes
In hindsight, he was a great teacher. Not one that I was too fond of at the time, provided his lectures were dreary and sometimes consisted of dead people jokes, but it was all good intentions. However, it takes some knowledge and interest to fully comprehend his class. I now enjoy my bus/econ major because of him, and I love it. Thanks professor!
Teacher is funny with his unique sense of humor. He does his hw online thru sapling learning which sucks. It is impossible to do, you will pull your hair out, you dont learn anything from it, and it will lower your final grade. His tests are alright. Take him if u like studying the material yourself.
Professor Edwards was my first teacher during my 1st year of college. It was HORRIBLE, he just rambles on and on about things that have nothing to do with Econ and his tests were ridiculous. I would not take a class with his ever again!
Tests are curved which is nice however he gives you a study guide for tests. that doesn't help much! his lectures are awful and you wont learn one thing from them. The way he runs the class is awful and sapling is the worst. Tests are not that easy but just overall he his a bad teacher. One upside was that he did have good humor
Took the 4 week online class and got a B. was a little difficult but was not bad. most of the answers are pretty straight foreword and most can be found online. Highly recommend for online 4 week class M02
He is genuinely a nice guy, but his lectures mean nothing 75% of the time. I never bought the text book, google worked fine. He gives study guides and a sample exam before each midterm, YOU NEED THIS TO PASS HIS TESTS. His tests are very hard, but he curves grades. And if you ask him for help, he will definitely go out of his way to help you.
Prof. Edwards is definitely brilliant in the field of economics, but his lectures tend to be hard to understand at times, he's one of those teachers that are highly intelligent but struggle to dumb it down to an intro level. If you already have an Econ background I highly recommend taking him, but if you're just taking it for your GE, look elsewher
Very goofy and likes to tell stories, but if you can get over this, you realize he is incredibly knoledgeable of the subject. He has great real life applications of what he is teaching. Also the online Sapling homework is very helpful and makes it easy to get good grades on all hw assignments. Curves tests and will help with anything if you ask.
If you like to teach yourself, go for it. Don't expect lectures, just a lot about his life and things you won't care about. online homework is unclear, does offer more time to complete, is just a very difficult class if you need to learn the subject and get a good grade. No one showed up to class till test days
I sincerely think this guy has a mental illness. His lectures are made long by the fact that he doesn't teach, he just rants about his life (pretty sure he makes it up). If you are the kind of person who gets offended easily, this class will not work out for you lol. Very unclear about assignments and what he wants you to know for the tests. Avoid
Lectures are extremely long and he tends to just tell life stories rather than actually teach information. Basically have to teach yourself everything. Online homework, but if you forget about it he will open them all at the end of the semester for you to complete. Tests are hard, but the online homework helps understand more. Teach
2 tests and a final. he also makes you write a paper which is 15 pages if your in honors, 6 if not. He curves the finals so if your smart you'll be fine. He takes a while to get used to but is very good once your used to it.
Professor Edwards tends to rant on in his lectures. His class tends to drag on but his exams were pretty straightforward. He grades on a curve which helps. Most of how I prepared for his exams was by studying the handouts he gives and the practice test. But I do still recommend on renting the book.
Took his online class, overall score was a 89. We had to buy a course code for Aplia. He didn't even add the grades from there. I did all that work for nothing. Thought I would walk away with an A after adding all that coursework and he didn't. Don't waste your time with his online class if you want an A. Ruined my 4.0 But easy enough class for a B
No lectures, just life stories. You won't know what chapters you're supposed to be studying. The Sapling homework is extremely tedious. If you do all the work, you won't have problem passing, but if you're actually interested in being an Econ major at a UC, you need to do independent study or take the class again with a better professor. Avoid.
Most people will tell you he doesn't really teach, which is true. But the class is very easy otherwise, if you self study. I never showed up to class except on the test days, and would just use that time to self study. He gives really good study guides before exams and his tests have HUGE curves.
I took Econ 1 & 2 with Edwards a few years back. Now that I graduated I can say he is worth taking and is not described by one review but all of them together. Edwards matches the groove of each class. Eccentric, funny, boring, longwinded is all up to you. The secret is he knows everything, but won't tell you until you ask. RU 2kewl 4 skool?
He doesn't really teach much but more laughs at his jokes the entire class. Counted 192 laughs one lecture. It's obvious he knows his material just isn't the best at teaching. You will most likely have to teach yourself everything. Online homework is not good practice for written test. He curves tests which is pretty cool also.
Don't take his class. Outdated materials and lecture is mainly about his personnel life. You will have to learn on your own.
Forgot one quiz worth 20 points, then he changed the quiz to be worth 150 points a month later. I got A's on everything and a 97 on the final and ended the class with a C. Even let him know about the quiz and if there was any way to earn the points back. Never replied to me.
It's only the first homework assignment but already he lectured on things that were not involved with the homework!
Three tests. Do the homework. He curves like crazy. Didn't study and still got an A in the class. He does attendance, but usually people just left during his lecture when he was not looking. He is a very smart man, but is not good at teaching the material. If you are trying to learn economics I don't recommend him.
Rex is a really funny and sweet professor who really knows his stuff. He is probably one of my favorite professors so far. Although he isn't always the best during lectures he gives plenty of other resources to prepare you for tests and then curves everything on top of that. Also, HE HAS THE COOLEST TIES!!!
Prof. Edwards is very old-fashioned in his teaching style and sense of humor. He laughs at his own jokes a lot, and can sometimes say some controversial things. He relies heavily on relevant examples in his lectures, which he may refer to later in his tests. You will have to learn "the basics" yourself by reading and doing the homework.
His lectures consist of anything but economics. I took him for micro and the entire semester he talked about things that had nothing to do with the subject. If you're looking for sexist, racist humor, this is the class to take. He expects you to understand the online homework when he hadn't taught anything, so be sure to get the textbook.
Professor Edwards is funny and a dedicated teacher. His style of teaching gets you ready for university. I had him for macro and micro and loved both his classes. He is also a very nice person and very available outside class to help you, There's homework and that helped me understand the subject better, You are lucky to have him for your teacher.
I had a great time in Prof Edwards' class, and I learned a LOT. Thank you Prof. Edwards.
I am taking his online course and man is this guy lost. We had many issues with Aplia to begin with and couldn't start our homework until about 4-5 weeks into the class. As soon as we had access to Aplia we only had 2 weeks to do 4-5 weeks of homework. It seems like he is clueless on how to run an online class. I wound't take his class again,Beware
Professor Edwards is a very learned and caring professor. If there is a problem you can email him and he will respond to your situation by care of it. His class is organized and there are many additional help sources placed in the online class in the form of links. This is a very good professor.
Excellent professor. Gives very detailed comments for the paper. Very knowledgable and educated. Very useful online homework. Really enjoyed this prof and the class.
Doctor Edwards were always laughing, which motivated me to take A without stress. I would like to take his macro class if possible.
Oh my god do not take this class. You dont learn anything. Super unorganized. Uses a terrible online platform that you use for your homework and just goes on tangents that he believes teaches us. Please please replace this professor. As an Econ major at Csun I regret ever taking this class. He made me hate the subject.
I took micro and macro with this Professor Edwards. He is very friendly and nice. He talks about outside experiences in his classes but when you think about it you find that everything fits with the topic. He's so funny! Missed that in the online class - but everything was straight forward clearly laid out. Regular online homework. Fair grading.
Teaches a great class about TEXAS, but if you're looking for an econ professor, Rex is not your guy.
Rex is a good dude. He is an entertainer as well as a teacher. His stories all relate to the subject matter. Pay attention to his graphs and do the practice exams. The practice exams are not exactly like the exams but they are super helpful and will carry you on top of the curve. Overall, Rex is a funny dude and I am glad I took his class.
Instead of a straight forward educated answer he starts a 10min punchline. Then he stares directly at you as he laughs uncontrollably. For him it's a run out the clock situation. Could not care less about your personal understanding of Economics! ALWAYS CURVES MIDTERMS, FINALS AND FINAL COURSE GRADES. He's a joke don't be apart of his punchline!!!
I've only met him once in person and he seemed like a pretty nice guy, but I had him for his online courses. Maybe it's because it was online, but his classes were pretty easy. Tbh though, online econ courses are probably the same no matter who you take.
Unless you are good at teaching yourself an economics class, stay away from this professor. Buy the book to read and take notes during class since you wont learn anything. Ask questions on when the tests are and what they will consist of because he wont mention it. Tests are harder than study guide so make sure to study other handouts that he gives
Absolutely awful. You would think running an online class would be easy, but you would be mistaken. He doesn't put any due dates on assignments, on Canvas, Cengage, or the syllabus. You will miss assignments because of it. The tests are based on the textbook but aren't quite the same information. My advice: do one chapter of work a week.
Prof. Edwards is friendly and makes the class fun and interesting. Although all assignment due dates are posted on the assignment he is flexible about the deadlines and will give you extensions on request. The online class is straightforward and easy to follow. The in class lectures were great. Prof. Edwards is an excellent teacher.
He doesn't talk about anything economics related during class and just goes on tangents. The midterms and final are nothing like the study guides he gives you, but he curves everything.
I actually liked both the Micro and the Macro classes I took with Prof. Edwards. He brought in a wealth of global and personal experiences into his teaching. You sometimes have to connect the dots and see how the experiences relate to the economic theory he's teaching, but they do. The work is reasonable. He curves the test grades as at the univs.
Doesn't lecture about anything important or related to economics. Just spends the entire class time talking about nonsense and random stories from his life. I didn't learn a single thing about economics from him the entire semester. Easy A, but don't take this professor if you want to actually be ready for upper division econ courses at a 4 year.
You will not learn a single thing with this professor. I learned more about Texas than Econ.
I did not learn much. Maybe it was because it was an online class. There were many homework assignments but they were fairly easy as well. For me, it was an easy A. Beware, he grades on a curve.
Professor Edwards means well but is just not a very good professor. I can confidently say that I learned nothing in his class. He rambles the entire class about things that dont relate to the material. Homework is all online, tests are on a heavy curve. Wasnt too hard of a class, but wouldnt recommend if you are an Econ or business major.
His canvas page was supper disorganized. Its a mess. He does nothing and tells you nothing until the midterm, then the same for the next midterm and final. He does not teach you at all, he does not even check up on the class. Once I began to worry that he is just not there I emailed him and he seemed nice so I gave him 1 star for that.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS ONLINE. I have heard that this professor is amazing in person, but HE HAS NO IDEA HOW CANVAS WORKS. He posts duplicates of assignments and tests and locks your grade so you can't see what you have, which makes it very confusing and scary. He has not checked in with us once. The class is purely Achieve assignments and tests.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU DONT WANT TO TEACH YOURSELF He was very unorganized and didn't check in other than to tell you the midterm/final were live. grades on a curve. don't know your grade until the class is over. macroeconomics is not easy and you shouldn't have to teach yourself
Professor Rex is good. He gives assignments to do and it is part of your grade. Also, the assignments are for you to learn more about Economics. He is understandable. Economics is not an easy subject. You need to read and do assignments to understand it and do well on the tests and final.
Wow - this online class is a trainwreck. The "modules" in Cavas have NOTHING to do with the assignments. Tells you to buy the online workbook and the text book ($90 each) when you only need the workbook that includes the text book. Entire class is self-taught by watching videos and doing online assignments. No teaching being done whatsoever.
Probably the worst and most unorganized course I've ever taken. Professor never checks in, there's 0 communication, barely responds to emails, and you have to teach yourself. Outside textbook format is so confusing and I've never been in a more complicated class. Graded on a curve and can't see your grade at any time until the class is over.
The only way I learned in this class is by reading the textbook chapters and completing all the homework. He always shares clues about the tests, which are curved. If you take Dr. Edwards, I think it's best to just take the asynchronous version of the course since the lectures can be a waste of time and the textbook goes into so much more detail.
Difficult
Only take Dr. Edwards's asynchronous class if you already took his microeconomics class in person. If you didn't, then either take the course in person with Dr. Edwards or with another professor or else you'll be super confused with how to complete assignments. In this online class, the exams aren't curved, but they are in his in-person class.
Absolutely no support during this course. It is an online course but the lack of lectures in this tough subject is EXTREMELY difficult. Feels like I am self teaching. Communication is not the best either. Be prepared to self teach if taking an ECON class with this professor. Half way through the accelerated program and not much has been graded.
Professor was extremely rude and untimely in his communications. 20+ hours a week in homework and reading. Content is extremely difficult and nothing can prepare you for the tests. You will thank AC/DC econ and Crash Course for your grade. I would not recommend this professor unless you are already extremely knowledgeable in Microeconomics.
