He's a very cool teacher!!! he's funny, and he makes you chill in class... and consider its a math clasS!!! he's there if you need him. ask questions, he'll answer, like that you'll do fine!, no a hard A if you pay attention... Lots of HW, but he doesn't really care if you hand in late... Take him!

Much more personality than most math teachers, he is young and realizes that most of his students are taking the class because of requirements, not the love of math. Easy if you attend... he answers all questions and gives a Pre-test to study for exams so no tricks or surprises. Great professor!

After failing this class (with a different prof), Professor Perez really helped me not only get an A, but understand the material. I usually HATE math, but looked forward to his classes. Very patient and understanding teacher, makes sure the enitre class is up to speed. He prepares you well for tests and offers to answer questions after classes.

If you have troubles with math, and need to get the IGETC requirement out of the way, take this class. He explains everything you need to know for the exams, and gives identical study guides for you to be ready for the them. Just do all the homework and practice problems, and you'll ace the exams. Final is like a giant review. Very cool guy too

Great teacher; gives simplified math lectures and doesn't give you unnecessary information like many math teachers do. He can be a bit arrogant at times; and rather you ask a classmate than himself if you get stuck in class. However, will help you if you raise your hand. the BEST stats professor ever. i'm a humanities major (in other words, math challenged) but he teaches stats so that everyone can understand. he doesn't check attendance but if you miss class, you miss his crystal clear explanations. if there's room, you should definitely take his class.

I took math52 with him and he made this class pretty easy. He gives you a sample midterm& Final to prepare you for exams. I literally studied ONE HOUR right before the exam (just go over his sample exam) and got perfect scores on all midterms. Its very easy because he only changes numbers on actual exam. TAKE HIM for EASY A =)

Even though he graduated UC Berkley, and got his masters at UCSD- he is not condescending at all. Teachers at the student's level, very respectfully. I was not looking forward to a Statistics class in the least and was thrilled with the grade I received. There's a lot of studying, but he's extremely helpful and explains everything in terms applicable to the real world!

i swear.. you got a problem if you receive anything below B in this class.. All 4 tests are scantron (on a math course) and the questions are unbelievably easy. Like i said, this class is a CAKE.

This guy excels at teaching remedial students. Predicts confusion pitfalls when introducing new material and offers very accessible means of visualizing and dealing with these points. Keeps class moving deals with difficult students well. Does it all with a socal chill that is always buffered by an underlying quick wit.

Easy A. I took his 54 and 32 class and both of them got an A. All test are multiple choice. No tricky question on the test, because most of them are come from your HW. He don't drop the lowest test but he will go over the practice test before each test. He is very helpful! TAKE HIM!!

Teaches the basics and doesn't try to kill you with too much info you don't need for an intro to stats course. I hate math, and haven't taken a math class in over 10 years, so I knew this class would be a challenge. The professor is great, but he likes to teach using his own methods and not the book's so that was kind of confusing. However, his lectures and study guides were clear and helpful and I managed an A. If you have any math background, easy class.

If you are a math major, or someone who actually needs to understand statistics, do NOT take this class. However, if you just need to pass this class as a math requirement, do EVERYTHING in your power to get this class. Rex made me like statistics because of his method of teaching. He challenges in the correct way to do so( REMEMBER it's Intro to Statistics) and he always has a way to engage all students. I can say our class was very interesting with unique personalities and we all turned out to respect each other because of him. I will definitely recommend him!

Perez is by far the best math professor at SMC. He doesn't teach you useless material that you won't be tested on. Rather he provides crystal clear lectures, and worksheets. The key to getting an A is to repeatedly do his practice exams. Overall, 3 exams, 4 mini projects, homework, and a final exam make up your grade. I can't recommend him enough.

Professor Rex is by far the best SMC math professor I have taken! Exams are easy as long as you study the study guides very well which are at least 90-95% similar to the actual exam every time. Projects are homework make up 12% of the overall grade which is pretty good for the projects are easy as well as the hw! Highly recommend!

Wonderful and kind teacher. THE BEST !! Amazing benevolence towards students. Recipe for an A: Attend every class, do all your homework, do his practice tests at least 3-4 times. Tests are usually very similar. Class is easy and very doable if you are in Nursing program or STEM. You don't need text book, take picture from his book for homework.

I was always really bad at math but his class was a breeze because he explained everything very clearly. His study guides really prepare you for the tests so make sure you do them. Theres sometimes a lot of homework but its due at the day of the unit exam so you have time to do it. He also gives you a formula sheet during the tests!!!

I took professor Perez during spring 2019 for math 54. The textbook is not required he lets you take a picture of his textbook and answer. He is the best professor he gives a very informative and clear lecture. Gives study guides for every test make sure to study it basically the same question on the test. It is not easy to get high.

This class is the best statistics class you could take at SMC. Be aware your grade is mainly based on three exams and one final. you get plenty of homework but are only worth a few points each. if you study for the tests you will get an A. His lectures are recorded. No extra credit, no make up test, no dropped grades but if you try youre good!

His lectures are interactive and easy to understand. He offers lots of homework but allows late work. I was hesitant to take a stats course but his class was very easy only if you do the work. However, attendance and textbook are mandatory. Only downside is he doesn't input grades on canvas and has you calculate it on your own. I would retake him.

This class is easy there is no way you don't get an A unless you don't do any of the work and don't do the practice tests. He does not play games with grading 90% Exams 10%: Assigments (cumulative percentages) he replaces test scores (test 3 if higher replaces test 2, final replaces test 3 if higher ). He does NOT allow notes on the three tests.

Such an amazing teacher. He's really sweet and funny. I'm currently tasking his class and have a 100% even after 2 exams. His exams are literally the practice tests he gives you in class. Really great teacher.

Professor Perez makes math fun and easy to understand. His lectures are interactive, and he's always willing to help. I used unstuck study along with the textbook to ace this class.

He's one of the greatest teachers to ever grace Santa Monica College. If you're willing to take the drive to Malibu, which is well worth it for this class, this is a must-take. He's really funny, and makes the concepts very easy to understand. And if you don't understand, just stay after class for like 5min, he makes it so easy to understand. 10/10

Professor Perez is literally the best professor I've ever taken. If you are willing to drive to Malibu, which is fun if you go with some friends, his class is great. He makes everything very easy to understand. His practice tests directly resemble the actual test. I skipped a couple classes, and it wasn't hard to catch up.100% would recommend.

Never left a review before, almost wanted to gatekeep but remembered how this was my 1st non-fail/W math class that I took in 10+ years. Really cares if students understand-doesn't just copy from book. Bothered him 100x, stayed after every class, was patient everytime. PLEASE TEACH CALC! Was hella trippin before.. but got an A. Ima hang my tests up

Hands down, one of the BEST math professors I've ever taken. If he taught calculus, I would take it in a heartbeat. I sometimes missed his lectures, and I still got 95 and above on the exams. Literally do the practice tests 10x and you'll get an A. He's super nice and he cares a lot for your success, highly highly recommend sitting in the front :)

BEST TEACHER AT SMC. He teaches so well and is also so chill that this class will never stress you out. He makes learning fun. I wish I can take him for every class because he is so amazing. Definitely recommend.

The best class I have ever taken at SMC. He actually made me like math. He explains things really well. Assignments are due by the test day. Tests are easy as long as you study and pay attention in class. Overall, a great class and would really recommend.

if u need a math for igetc TAKE HIS CLASS,, its worth the 2 hr ride to malibu and it's super simple and easy to understand; lots of textbook work but its not due until the test day; on the final u can bring a cheat sheet and most of the work is just calculator work

probably the best math professor at smc. he's super chill and makes his lectures very easy to understand. his study guides are exactly like his tests. i definitely recommend taking his class if you can drive to malibu

Sweet man, super understanding, responds to email, not intimating to talk to. He teaches a bunch online math classes at LACCD, if anyone wants to take him there since smc hates offering online classes, and hates tuition money. He's one of the best math teachers out there. He teaches Cal 1-3 over there as well.Easy A (155% & 175%).

If you can't make it to SMC lame Malibu campus, you can take his stats class fully online at LACCD, and as a pro he teaches Cal 1-3 there. I got a 155% in his stats class, and I got a 175% in his Cal 1-3 classes!!!. All my piers at SMC take LACCD math since, SMC hates Online Classes, and hates tuition money apparently. Take REX at LACCD!!!

Professor Rex is amazing!! I haven't taken a math class in years and was terrified to get my stats credit out of the way. He is so good he makes me wish he taught other math classes, as I would like to take them for fun now. Test 1 is worth 15%, and 2 and 3 are worth 25.5%. I barely even had to study - all I did was show up to class and I got a 98%

I've never rated a professor but I've got to tell everyone he is a great professor and explains everything so well. Please do your homework to help prepare for exams, do not wait until the night before it's due to do them. He answers any question you have. I took him at SMC Malibu campus, after class just head down to the beach!!!

I took him at LACCD, not SMC. His stats class there is fully online, he also teaches Cal 1-3, people there be getting 190%. Go take him at LACCD, if you don't want to commute to SMC lame Malibu campus. LACCD has the math math program in North America, and its fully online. About 99% of SMC takes LACCD Math now!

I miss you Mr. Perez!!!! Best SMC class ever, and sweetest man. Please if you need to take this class for credit... TAKE THIS ONE!!! The Malibu campus was so fun and was always a good vibe. Tests are just like the practice tests he gives, so as long as you study and understand the material. He makes stats so easy to understand. TAKE HIM.

hate math but professor Rex made it so much fun. He teaches in a way that makes it super easy to understand and if you're confused its safe to speak up- he will go on a whole tangent to break it down for you lol. Its test heavy but his practice tests are spot on and he does recycle some questions. super funny. #positivelearningenvironment :) iykyk

One of the best professors I've ever had. It's hard to create a class students actually want to go to in every situation, but he does it. You never want to miss his lectures. He has a big heart and makes the class feel like a second home with people you might not know, but who feel like brothers and sisters. Positive learning environment :)

This is honestly the best math class ever. Everything is well organized and you always know what is expected. The grading is fair and transparent and he really cares about students learning, not just memorizing. If you put in the effort, you will learn a lot and feel more confident in math. I would definitely recommend taking his class

I hate Math. I hate Statistics. But I love this man. He has mastered the art of making things understandable. Easily the best Math Professor I have ever had this lifetime. Take his class!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
