He is HARD. Lots of homework and quizzes. Tests are open-ended answers. I would not recommend if you did poorly in Pre-Cal. But he is caring and inspires his students to learn. He loves mathematics and it rubs off on you. He is also generous. If you show improvement throughout the class and do all the homework, you could walk away with an A.

Professor Aghayan is very helpful. He makes sure that you are prepared for test by letting you know exactly what will be tested and gives plenty of examples most of which show up on the unit test. There are days where he just provides examples and allows you to work on them during class, gibing you a chance to get 1 on 1 immediate feedback.

Professor Aghayan cares more about how you got your answer rather than what the answer is. The topic is tough, but he urged his students to study the reviews given before tests. If you study, you pass. Tests are usually five questions about the topics in the chapter, each requiring the skills you learned in class. Highly recommended.

Took his Calculus course and loved it. It's definitely not a walk in the park, but that is what makes it one I would recommend to anybody. You can tell he wants the students to understand the topics completely. as long as there is a moderate amount of studying, his class will be enjoyable.

He's hard to understand sometimes because he has an accent but it's totally normal not to the point where you don't understand anything. If you go to class and take notes then his tests are easy because he literally gives problems from his lectures and he does review lectures for every test so that really helps.

I took Dr. Aghayan for Calculus 1 and I loved every part of the class. Tests are EASY with reviews a day before. Homework is LIGHT, mostly used as practice. Lectures are ENGAGING and to where students are never left behind. Take this ONE OF A KIND professor for any math class and you will never regret it.

I absolutely loved this class. The professor was great. Only teaches sections that are important and not an entire chapter. Engages with his class and makes sure everyone knows how to complete every problem. The review he gives you before a test has the exact same questions on the test. If you master the review, you'll get an A on every test. :)

This was the first mathematics class that I've taken that I've felt like I've actually learned from. The professor is one who cares about your academic career and in your learning. He has taken the time to help reiterate and review some concepts that we had maybe forgotten or not fully understood. I've enjoyed my time in the lectures.

He's very nice and caring which makes the class really fun. You gotta pay attention to his lectures though because they are really helpful for the exams. All the homework is done on MyMathLab and his exams are usually 4 free response questions. He takes his time to help each student and is very patient.

Little homework, and teaches everything you need to know in lecture. Before every test, he'll review a good portion of the problems you'll see, and allow you to use a index card, and derivatives table for the test. He has a unique style of teaching, and will always ask if everybody understands before moving on. He will call ppl randomly to board!

This professor is something else. He has such an amazing passion for helping you do well in the class. He is absolutely one of a kind which is hard to find these days. Reza MADE my college math experience. He is there for you and will force you to understand the concepts instead of simply just memorizing problems. He gets you out of your comfort zone and is a phenomenal professor for Calculus 1. He is always at his office hours and is extremely helpful. Take GOOD and NEAT notes, you will refer back a lot.

This is the class to take if you are not strong in math. Formula sheets and index cards are allowed for exams and attendance is extra credit. He'll even let you know what questions you have wrong and send you back to fix them. It's an easy grade.

Although there's quite a bit of homework for the class, he let us turn it in late for a 90! His tests were hard, but he helps every student do the best they can, and even offers advice during tests. His lectures are clear and make sense. He seems intimidating at first, but in reality he is very kind and genuinely cares about his students. Study!!!!

Dr. Aghayan provides a free-discussion class where you can ask or share your opinions anytime during lecture. Linear Algebra is supposed to be a hard subject, but he makes it very approachable. His goal is to give you the picture of the materials so you will understand rather than you have to memorize it. He genuinely cares about your success.

The best professor on campus hands down. I would recommend taking him if you get the chance because his class will fill up really fast. A Very good professor, who explains concepts differently and makes them easier to understand. He gives some extra credit for attendance, course evaluations, and suggestions for the course. I had never taken a fully online math course before and was scarred, but this was the best experience ever! He gives out his zoom code for his lectures if you want to attend them and gives you plenty of attempts on your assignments! Do the homework ESPECIALLY the reviews as the test review questions are almost the same as the test questions. In fact some of them are! There are no surprises here. Lots of extra credit. He doesnt post the class recordings until later that night, and sometimes he forgets. The reviews are exactly like the exams. Hes not a bad teacher, but definitley not as good at the 5/5 rating would make you think. I still recommend the class though.

This Professor is the best. Despite the fact that I suck at higher math, I got a great grade in Calc 2. He is good at explaining things and totally intelligible. Professor Aghayan is an amazing teacher and is passionate about his student's success. He has extra credit opportunities for exams and checks exams to make sure that there is enough work to receive proper credit. All homework is done online, and he goes over many of the questions during class so the students understand how to complete them.

Literally the best prof to take for calc. He gives so much extra credit my average rn is almost a 110 lmao. attendance isn't mandatory, but if you want to learn better, attend the lectures!!! he also often gave out random extra credit if you did attend classes. he works out examples that are exactly like the problems on the test, just with diff #s.

Professor Reza Aghayan is one of the best math professors I've had thus far. He is patient and gives a lot of extra credit. Attendance is not mandatory but it's better if you show up because you learn so much more. He also works out A LOT of examples that are very similar, if not the same, as the homework.

Probably the best professor I've had period. Extremely detailed in his explanations and never continued until everyone understood the concepts. Register for his course as soon as you can, as his class fills quickly, considering how great of a prof he is. Random extra credit is given to students who attend, and the tests are similar to the homework.

He made sure each and every one of his students understood the material and wasn't afraid to rewind and review basic maths with us. I would love it if he was teaching some upper level math but he is the absolute perfect teacher for lower math. I was never afraid of failing because he made understanding the material easy and stress-free. Best ever!

He is really good at explaining concepts and really appreciates when students ask him questions. You can approach him anytime after class and he will help you with anything, I would really recommend taking this professor.

You've got to be an idiot to not take this class. Dr. Aghayan is far and away the best professor you will ever have. He is so good he broke the rating system, like come on how can you now be registering for his class right now? He also makes you so much better at math, which seems obvious, but anyone that has taken him knows what I mean. Amazing.

So, I originally rated Reza poorly. It took time for me to adjust to his teaching style, but once I did, he's now my favorite professor.

Dr. Aghayan is the best teacher I've ever had. He cares about his students and he is passionate about what he teaches. I was scared to take Calculus II at first, but by the end of the class I really enjoyed the subject. The way he teaches is very engaging. He made me see the beauty in mathematics.

Professor Aghayan is an amazing professor and UTSA is extremely lucky to have him as a member of their math department. He is one of the best math teachers I have ever had. He is so kind and caring. He is extremely intelligent and loves math. If you can take his class, take it. If I could rate him higher, I would. He is the best.

I have never left a review for a professor before but Prof Reza deserves it. He is a great teacher. He cares about how the students preform in his class. He goes as far a learning his students names and calls on them by name. He is totally okay with re-explaining topics until the student/s understand. 10/10 professor for sure. So glad I took him.

Professor Aghayan is super funny and tries to be involved with the class. His class is graded heavy on tests and homework. His teaching style is different and it takes a second to get used to it, but he cares about his students and is a great professor. Highly recommend!

I took Dr. Aghayan for both MAT 1214 and 1224 (calculus 1 and 2). Amazing professor, very understandable at breaking down problems step by step and makes sure to answer any kinds of questions before moving on to avoid confusion. He wants you to succeed in this class- you get extra credit on exams for attendance and completing the test reviews.

You know we had to come back for Calculus 2 and to the surprise of no one, it was amazing. Dr. Aghayan manages to improve each semester and I am so glad I was able to be one of his students. The only thing that I'm sad about is that this might be the last class of his that I get to take. Do not hesitate to take one of his classes.

A very inspiration professor who actually cares about students doing better for their own goods. Attendance is not required, however, does grants extra credit if you participate in class. The teachings are very simplified and straightforward to help students understand complex concepts. Very funny too.

don't even think twice about it. take him. as long as you show up to class your grade will speak for itself. reviews are exact copies of exams. if you don't do well in this class it's you. not the professor.

Professor Aghayan was absolutely amazing, one of the best professors I've had throughout my education. Extremely caring and makes Calc just a bit more bearable. Tests are the main part of this class and he goes over nearly the same questions on the test in the review materials he provides, just pay attention in class and you'll get at least a B.

He is an excellent teacher with easier to understand methods than most for Calculus 2. He is friendly and interactive with the students. Extra credit is offered for attending the class and doing practice exam questions before the test.

One of the best professors at UTSA, genuinely cares about his students. Pay attention to his lectures and notes and you'll be good.

He is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He explains things so seamlessly and I kid you not his test questions come directly from the homework. You need to study quite a bit, but he gives you all the tools that you need. Its honestly difficult to do bad in his class if you study regularly (HOMEWORK SPECIFICALLY!).

Reza is a truly excellent professor and turned calculus into a class that I never wanted to skip. He is a really funny guy and is very personable, and he gives you helpful life lectures before class. He offers extra credit on every test, and the tests aren't hard if you attend class. Im sad I won't have him for Cal 2, but I'd recommend taking him.

Absolute GOAT. None close to him. Cares for and gets to know every individual in class. Never makes you feel like youre dumb. Super knowledgeable and approachable. Taught so good,I aced all exams.All questions are similar to the ones in the reviews. Goes over every single thing. Seems intimidating but is super nice. Wish I get a seat in Cal2 w/him.
