He is a great guy, but not a great instructor. Some of the questions came out of the bank and were somehow tricky.
Forough is a great guy and seems to be very helpful. To suceed in this class make sure you take notes, read the text for concept clarification, and ask questions.
He is very nice, flexible and helpful but not very organized teacher. To get A, you need attend lab, submit paper work on time, follow his study guide, take note and ask questions. Easy to get A, but do not expect to learn a lot from teacher. If you are self-motivated person, I would highly recommend. If you want a teacher very organized, prepared
Mr. Forough is a great teacher! Easily one of the best teachers for Bio. 160. He is very nice and helpful. One easy paper project, a final based on all other tests, and he provides study guides for the tests. He also drops one test and you get an A for lab just by attending. Bio. 101 is not easy but Mr. Forough gives you every chance to succeed!
His seemingly extensive experience outside academia enables him to put the material into real world contexts in an engaging way. Sometimes his explanations are more confusing than clarifying (just re-read the book). Absence of homework means grade depends mostly on test performance- you must have the self-discipline to study and "test" yourself.
Reza is a great teacher and his lectures were interesting even for night class. He is helpful in answering questions and staying after class to explain. He gave 4 exams and a final. Dropped the lowest test grade. Also gave study guides for each test and each chapter. Promptly responded to emails also.
Great professor! Attend class, take notes, and READ the book! He is very nice and willing to help, but his lectures can be confusing. He tends to jump around a lot. He's constantly mentioning things that you need to know for the exam but most of the exams seem to come from the book! Also, easy labs--full credit just for attendance!
Very kind & caring teacher. Thanks to him, I now love Bio. & I'm not scared of it. Microbio. is by nature a hard class, but if you study hard, Mr. Forough makes it very possible to get A. 4 tests, easy essay, easy lab pts. Probably will drop lowest test score. Must read the book to do well and attendance is important! Great for pre-nursing ppl!
What a great teacher and truly cares and enjoys teaching. Very helpful and final is easy as long as you study! Took him Summer Quarter and it was alot of info but he made it easy and explained in detail. Very helpful after class. Highly recommend him. Go to class and do the labs and study for exams. You will pass easily!
I love this professor. Subtle sense of humor, but recognizable. Nice guy. Class lectures were interesting. Made real world explanations to biology topics. He states what will be on the exams and gives sample questions. I recommend to all.
He is a great professor. His lectures are interesting. Before exam, he gives handout for the test, which is very helpful. You will not regret taking the class with him.
He tests on lectures and labs, you do not have to read the book. He posts study guides online for every test, and during lectures he really tries to point out what about it you need to know for the test and gives you sample questions. He has great stories too! cons: not the best handwriting and heavy accent can sometimes be hard to understand.
I just started, but already like this teacher. He knows the subject, he likes what he does. I will recommend his classes for your good grades. You will love it!!!
So lost as to the point of much of what he said in class. easy A but I don't feel I learned much at all in the two classes I took from him. I only took him a second time because I needed an A and didnt have time to work for it.
He is sub for the teacher I was originally scheduled with. wow how lucky am I. He cares, knows his stuff and takes dry material and spins it in helpful creative ways. He expects his students to have initative and study outside of class, tests off lectures and labs. If you study you will pass! And is accesible after class to answer questions
I took him over the summer quarter. We had a group project, 3 tests and a couple of quizzes. The quizzes were easy but the tests I didn't too so well on. Labs were crazy easy... you didn't have to fill everything out. The final exam was a breeze! He just took 50 questions from the 3 tests so i made cards for 150 questions.. memorized the answer
I like him a lot and he cares about people but at times I felt he doesn't put much time and efforts into our class. He does jump around quite a bit during the lecture and skip a few topics so it was hard to determine what to study for. Ask for a study guide well in advance so that you don't waste your time. I loved all the labs in this class!
If you want to have a good knowledge and grade you should take his class. Do you think it is easy to sign into his class, not my friend. All places are gone before you can sigh. He is extremely popular at BC. Why? He is outstanding teacher who likes what he does, can explain very well what you need to know and just a great men!!!
I am very happy to take Micro with this professor. Very helpful and will spend time with you after the class if you need. He will not learn for your. But if you are looking for a great teacher be his student!Very easy to understand difficult chapter, always have a lot of examples, and will not move forward if you did not understand his lesson.
Awesome professor. If you ask him a question outside of class time, he will take time to make sure you understand. He always takes into consideration what works best for his students and he really does care. He uses notes and powerpoints for his tests. Overall, a great teacher!
Reza is a great teacher. For anyone who thinks he doesn't know the material..... stay after class and pick his brain.
I took Reza's summer 241 class and it was incredibly laid back. If you attend class everyday and study the lecture notes you'll be fine. I didn't even open the book and got a B+ in the class. Reza is very smart and although he can be a little confusing during lecture because he will go off on random tangents, his stories generally make info stick
I think Reza's great! He's really laid back and funny and always in a good mood. He gives notes on the book so you know exactly what to study. It's not an easy class but expectations are pretty clear and he's always around to help. Labs aren't very organized.
Great Professor... one of my favorites so far. Really cares and takes the time if you have questions
Go to class and you can't help but get a decent grade.
Great teacher! Really interesting, great stories. Worked in research for years so he knows from practical experience. Helpful, friendly, smart. He doesn't just teach but imparts his experiences. Liked him so much I took Micro w/him. Take notes and study and you'll do well. No surprises on the tests, all the material was covered.
Super laid back, let's the class leave early on some lab days. He even lets the class pick what day you want to have the exams/final. Some of his exam questions are worded weirdly, but other than that he is super easy. Studied the day or hour before exams and still managed to get a B in the class.
He is really nice and funny. Really laid back but I found it hard to follow during lectures. He was all over the place jumping from one thing to another and then going back. For tests you don't know what to expect. He doesn't give study guides and just tells you to study everything. Tests can be tricky.
Very good teacher and the class is organized and well taught. Lectures available as powerpoints so it was easy to follow along. No surprises on exams. Interesting subject made more interesting by a knowledgeable and engaging teacher. Will be taking 242 with him - I prefer his style and certainly his personality over Ellinger.
He is one of my favorite teachers that I have ever had. He explains things very clearly and is hilarious! I really really enjoyed his class.
This was my 4th class with Forough. Thought I knew his teaching style. Not so much! He is to laid back & unorganized for my learning style in this challenging of a class. This class needs to be well structured and with him it just wasn't. He wastes a lot of time letting students figure out when to sched exams. Too much material to waste time on th
You have to take this guy!! He is soooooooo hard... but he is one of the best teachers at BC. He really knows his stuff and his lectures are always interesting and fun. One project and 3 test + a final... all questions on the final are taken from previous tests so its supper easy final but tough tests. Study what he goes over and you will be fine!!
He is funny and cool BUT he puts about as much effort into teaching/organizing his class as well...a D student does. Do not take this class if you are not motivated to stay on top of the material because it is too easy to slack. 1 test every 3 weeks and labs are extremely disorganized and not informative. Love the guy but will never take him again!
I really enjoyed his class! His lessons were straight to the point and adds humor and stories into his lectures which made it less stressful for me. YES i did have to study for the exams which were mainly off of his lectures so take good notes! One of my favs!
If I were to do my job as he teaches, I would be fired. No preparation for classes, unorganized labs and he is all over the board. He never provides study guides or gives any clue as to what will be on tests. And, the tests are worded as such that you may understand the material but get the question wrong.
very nice teacher. i will take bio-242 with him..
I took his class for Summer '11 quarter and he is quite chill. He always let us out early, tells stories and jokes, and lets you do whatever. His lectures are quite clear though and gives good examples that relate to health sciences. Overall pretty good professor, more one the easier side.
Take his class if you are lazy, but you won't learn very much. This teacher is lazy. To waste time he would look up random youtube videos for us to watch that weren't very helpful. The labs were a joke and you were graded just on being there, not on actually doing anything. I learned hardly anything from this class.
He is unorganized, not clear on what will be on exams, and usually adds things to the exams he either didn't mention, or specifically said were not going to be on the test. The labs were not useful at all in preparing for his lab tests and there are not enough points available for the amount of information you need to know.
This guy is very unprepared for class. He uses ppt slides from a different book and does not customize them to the class. He talks a lot about himself and his accomplishments and wastes class time by showing useless videos unrelated to class. If you are looking to get a good grade this is the class but you will learn nothing.
Very knowledgeable professor; will stay after the class to answer questions; reasonable; chill. Test questions sometimes can be confusing, but overall good quality instructor. If you study his power points, notes and study, you can get an ?A?. He is a good person.
PowerPoints are basis of class; can get by without a text and some did. Sweet man, kind and respectful to students, very responsive to questions. Labs were light and short; lots of time used on group presentations w/ are a big part of grade. Suspect I didn't get a strong foundation in the subject and not sure self-study made it up.
Attendance is mandatory because he emphasizes things you can ignore/should study more in his powerpoint notes. That being said, he'll mention things that "will be tested" and those particular things won't show up, and other trivial questions/material WILL show up...He's extremely helpful and accommodating, good luck understanding his accent though
Reza is an awesome teacher! Took him for Bio241 and 242. I never opened to book in either class. A lot of people complained about the tests being hard, but honestly, its an upper level class so what do you expect? Just study the powerpoints. I got by with an A-. 242 is definitely harder so don't slack. Lets us out early often and he's hilarious.
His class is not going to be easy. He seems like a nice person. Most of the time he mention thing that will not be in the exam but they will appear. He is unorganized and often times moves from one topic to another. Wording in the tests are very confusing. Over all I would not recommend him.
I do not recommend him at all. Taking this class with him was a waste of time and money. He is not organized. Tests are hard and not fair. He will mention something will be on the test and then other things will show up. He seems to be nice and helpful, but honestly I did not think so.
He is never clear on what he wants on the tests. You can study hard and still do poorly in his class. If you have money and time to waist, take his class.
There was talk that Forough was not good at all but I thought the class was just fine. I took it in summer session and the textbook was not needed at all; study class notes and you'll be fine. There were weekly MC quizes with no final and a group presentation. I found making note cards of key terms and points extremely helpful. Labs are a breeze.
I would highly NOT recommend him. He is very unorganized. Tells us material won't be on test and then puts it on the test. There are no extra credit opportunities. Class is worth 270 points so there is no room for error. I studied hard and didn't get the results I wanted. Dr J is better than this guy and he's 10 times harder!
I am currentely in his class. I like his lectures and the labs are straight forward. His exams are pretty hard considering he says to get the general idea, then asks mor specific questions on the exam. He has no study guide either. Thats where the poor quality plays in, the exams. We have no idea what to study.
Very Easy Professor! His tests are incredibly simple if you do you very good job studying his powerpoint slides and take notes in class. I missed 8 points total over 4 tests, 3 quizzes and 3 lab tests....If you are good at studying on your own then he is the right choice.
Awesome Professor! Always answers emails, always answers questions! Txt book not needed just study his notes! I made it out of this class with an A and I havent been to college in years! Labs are a breeze! Tests are good, just study study study! I would love to take him for Micro!
I took both 241 & 242 with him. Do not expect any A&P is easy class. He is very helpful and knowledgeable. Pay attention to his lecture and take very good notes, then you don't need the book. When he is giving some extra info or he drew something on the board, mark that on your notes! MC tests and know how to spell the parts. Reasonable tests
Very, very nice man. Easy to get high grade without much work; many assignments and labs require only filling a seat. Text not needed; teaches and tests only on his PowerPoints. If you care only about your grade, take him. Class is dumbed down. If you care about learning A&P and being prepared for nursing or other prof. school, take someone else.
Awesome professor, dedicated teacher, will recommend him as one of the few best at BC.
Excellent teacher and guide you to good grades, open to talk and cares for students.
He is an amazing teacher, knows his stuff, very clear on the topic. Don't expect any A&P classes to be easy. But if you do your work in his class, study your butt off, also be present during lectures and DO take notes you will end up earning you fare grade.
Would not say it was the toughest course. Take Anatomy series first. Then you will easily pass his class with a good grade. Read his Power Point slides and you'll be ready for his tests. They are sometimes tough. Nevertheless, you won't learn much microbiology from him.
He's alright, I wish his lectures weren't so dry though because sometimes it can be incredibly boring. He does have some "trick" questions on testsquizzes (its about the wording) which make them misleading so if you aren't sure just ask to elaborate.
I am a straight A student, I have never had to deal with an instructor who is so disorganized that it made me despise learning. I enjoy studying, but this instructor has no knowledge of the topic he is suppose to teach. If you are not able to articulate the material you should not be allowed to teach It is a shame he is still instructing. AVOID HIM
I loved Reza. His lectures were amazing; he throws in real life examples of physiological issues he has whitnessed and talks about interesting new research that is happening in the subject which helps you retain the information. A&P is a hard class, but he made me fall in love with the subject and I'm sure he will do the same for others.
After taking this class for the 3rd time he honestly was the best. Most teachers expect you to know everything even if it is not covered in class and don't really offer good help. You follow his power points and take notes during lectures then the class is what should be expected. He provides assignments to cushion your grade. Don't take hybrid
Lots of lectures, labs every Thursday. Attendance is only required on Thursdays, this will affect your grade. The tests require studying and can be difficult. The professor isn't super helpful, but he is funny.
I just took Reza's class this summer and ended up with a B+. His multiple choice tests were very clear for what he wanted us to study. You have to study in order to get a good grade. I liked that we had daily quizzes. He does not use textbooks so that was super useful since we only had to look at his power points. Would take his class again.
His tests do not reflect what we studied in class. This is my 3rd quarter with him and 3rd time was not the charm. If youre an average learner, prepare to get an average grade. You wont do well if you dont study every day.
I really like Reza and I found his lectures interesting. Although, if you don't study outside of class you will do very poorly on the quizzes and exams. His tests are hard and sometimes unclear what the question is asking so be sure to clarify. I've never worked so hard for a B in my life.
Reza is a wonderful instructor. I took him for Bio 241, he is incredibly knowledgeable about A& P. His lectures are incredibly helpful, and he outlines very specifically what he wants you to know do tests/quizzes. The anatomy/physiology 1&2 classes are HARD, these are not easy A's, but he will set you up for success to get an awesome grade
Reza was a great professor and I would highly recommend him for Biol241/242. If I could keep taking Biol from him I would! Reza cared about student success and made expectations clear. His test weren't easy but he didn't make them more difficult than necessary - no tricks! He often mixed lectures and labs so it was important to be in class.
Anatomy is a tough class, so there's no way that this is going to be an easy A. However, if you work for it, you can get a good grade. He has straightforward expectations and isn't a strict grader, but sometimes has trick questions on exams. A major plus is that he doesn't use the book at all, but only the power point slides.
Great Professor especially for a hard subject like A&P. Very generous grader for hw and labs. Drops lowest test score. Test every week for each module so you only need to focus on one body system at a time. I enjoyed this class and ended up with a B+.
Take Professor Reza! is an amazing teacher and really wants you to learn/pass. Gives a lot of clinical examples, very helpful for those going into the medical field. 1 quiz and 1 exam a week, but tells you what they will be on. study outside of class what he taught you and you will pass. Takes attendance for labs and in class assignments.
Best teacher you will ever get for microbiology, Reza has his own style of teaching and makes you experience actual science and problem solving, his class is absolutely wondrous and you learn a lot and actually start to apply the scientific method on various scenarios, he also hands out articles from scientific journals in class, one word Awesome!
Reza was overall a really good prof. A&P courses will always be lecture heavy, (no matter the teacher) but he made the lectures clear& understandable. Just mainly study the notes/slides that he goes over, & briefly scan over the slides that he didn't & you'll do fine on his tests. 1 quiz & 1 test every week, a little bit of an overkill.
He's great! I took his class in the summer, which was probably not the best idea but it was doable! There are daily quizzes and a test each week. Make sure to thoroughly read his powerpoints! Quizlet became my best friend, but you MUST try your best to memorize stuff on the slides and important details in class.
Reza is a fantastic professor. Unfortunately, my learning style and his teaching style do not match up. Do NOT take this class if you are a slow learner like me. The lecture slides are posted on canvas and he tells you which slides will be on the exams, but you will have 50 pt exams every Monday and 10 pt quizzes every Thursday on 90 slide lectures
Reza is really nice as a person and no doubt has a lot of experience but I didnt like the way he gave the material which was not useful unless you read a book to understand all the concepts. Quizzes every week and its the only way he really grades you. Extra assignment gives you only 2 - 4 points which doesnt worth to waste your time. Thumb down
Let me start by saying that biology is a really hard class , you need to make sure you take time to study . The teacher is nice , he gives 1 quiz each week and a test each week. Its a lot to Learn but i rather take a test per chapter then 3 chapter per test . The quiz is only 10 questions, test 50 question ... Final exam is good! I recommend him!
I had to retake the A&P series (241, 242) multiple times to get a better grade, and I took Reza every single time. I went from having a C- to a B in both. This class in general is A LOT of work, and requires a huge amount of studying but I have learned so much from his class. He is so kind and respected, and I'm very happy with my choice.
Reza is a very nice person and is really knowledgeable but he wasnt the teacher for me. Exams were hard because it was unclear what he was going to test on. You have to teach yourself A LOT and study A LOT. Exams can have trick questions which messed up my grade a lot of the time even though I knew the material. Quizzes were easy, labs were easy
Reza is an amazing A&P professor! I took 241 (B+) and 242 (A) with him. They were great classes. He truly cares about his students and wants you to succeed. I strongly recommend him for these classes, especially if you are going into the health sciences.
Reza is a nice professor. He knows his material and does a great job of explaining it, but his class does require a lot of self studying. He doesn't have a study guide for any of the exams, BUT he tells you exactly what to study from Powerpoints. 1 exam-every Monday & 1 quiz-every Thursday. Labs & HW were easy, gives extra credit of up to +10pts.
Reza was a fine teacher for A&P. There are quizzes and exams every week but it's not bad. Tests and quizzes get hard by week 5, definitely lookup the topics more than he explains in lecture or ppt. Textbook is not required but use his powerpoints and internet for studying. Not an easy A, lots of hours studying.
Reza is a really nice person, he's very knowledgable but can't explain a topic to save your life. He has tests and quizzes every week on at least 50 slides each, all MCQ but there are trick questions that throw you off. you have to know EVERYTHING, more than what he lectures on. you need to UNDERSTAND all the material, not just memorize it.
If you miss lab mastering assignments you cant access it anymore, no extra credit, attendance count towards you grade 50min 50 question, 100min 100question meaning 1 question per minute.
I chose Reza because his section was the only one left available for Spring quarter 2020. The class is not one usually offered online but due to Covid it was. Reza is an outstanding professor! He's kind, and expects you to understand the big picture of A&P, but not necessarily all the finer details. I'm taking micro with him now & AP2 in the fall.
Reza is a great instructor. Class was online this quarter, but he still made lectures interesting. The only downside was not being able to do labs on campus (distance learning d/t covid) so most of our lab homework was done online and was pretty confusing. But he lets you know what will be on the exams, so just pay attention and you'll do fine.
Just don't take his class. Your grade heavily reflects your exams. He makes up his exam questions. He has an accent so I think he doesn't realize how tricky his questions are. I studied HARD for this class. He wasn't willing to round up 3%. 4 exams, online HW, one essay, & attendance.
Professor Forough is a great teacher. These biology classes are tough in general. But this professor did a great job explaining by drawings, videos, and lecture. He is always open to Q and A, and is more than happy to help you succeed. Must be diligent and work hard for your grade.
I took his class for A&P 2 and really loved how calm and patient he is regarding zoom issues and the numerous questions asked by students. He truly cares about student success and is passionate about what he is talking about. Very thorough in his lectures but the material is a bit scattered and all over the place. I recommend taking him for A&P!!
most of his tests are based off his lectures and powerpoints but never used a textbook or required textbook reading. His grading category is labs or hw is equivalent to amount of points to his tests so do your hw, get B+ average tests and do his extra credit to secure an A in his class.
Pro. Forough was an average professor. Has an accent that is hard to understand. Online class with many distractions in his location. Only 5 tests that were 50 questions & 50 mins. Final was 100 pts & 100 mins. Had his grading messed up so gradebook was not updated until after the final. False sense of security. Uses Honorlock. HORRIBLE system.
This guy is nice but instructions for anything r so unclear. He has big projects that he gives very vague instructions for and he forgets his deadlines and doesn't remember until someone shows him his own rubric. He also has quizzes every week. Overall he is just very vague and unclear not that helpful.
He's a nice professor and is always ready to re-teach or re-explain the concepts again if you ask. His lecture is also really fun. The class is time consuming and lecture-heavy so be prepared...
Professor Reza set clear expectations right from the start - attendance in in-person labs, weekly quizzes, group ppt project, and the independent identification lab project. His study guides for all quizzes were incredibly helpful. He is prompt in responding to emails and gradings. Also he is so nice and has extensive knowledge in this subject!
Very hands on class, group projects, does labs/dissections, great teacher with lots of experience. He is not intimidating and easy to talk to.
Reza is a very good professor who cares about his students and wants them to succeed. He was very clear on everything that we would do in class including the group projects. Good communication and answers his emails pretty quickly. I recommend using Google study docs for quiz studying and sharing it with other classmates/working on it together.
Good professor. He was very clear on how we would be graded in class and what to expect. Very fast paced, and if your a slow learner it probably won't work out for you. Thankfully, his teaching style works really well for me. Very calm and caring, takes time to explain thing clearly to his students and is always willing to re-explain material.
Good overall professor. He's very clear, despite his accent, and cares about his students. Has group projects that take up a lot of your grade. It's a fast paced class, so participation is required except for special circumstances. If you study the quiz guides he puts up using Google docs and working on it with classmates, you will get high grades.
Good teacher and very kind. He gets all the quiz material from the presentations he makes and gives lectures on. Before each quiz, he gives out study guides that help a lot. It's a fast paced class, so make sure to pay attention to all his lectures and access ALL of the extra material posted on canvas. It helps a lot.
He's a great teacher overall, cares about his students. Mandatory class time is used well and lectures are on zoom, but not required to attend. I have taken him for Microbiology and A&P 1 and will be taking him again for A&P 2 next quarter. Also has group projects which are fun and take up a lot of your grade percentage.
Inefficient use of class time, unclear instructions on group projects, groups are randomly assigned, and lectures consist of going over 100+ lecture slides and telling you which ones will be on the quiz next week. This class was really stressful and it seemed like the professor was unprepared at times.
Reza's classes include weekly quizzes, two group projects, and weekly lab assignments. The labs are really easy and boosted my grade a lot. He provieds study guides too making the quizzes manageable. The group projects are pretty big though. Online lectures aren't mandatory so he posts recordings of it which is nice. I would take bio 242 with him.
Reza is an amazing teacher, he taught things in ways that are understandable and you are learning in his class instead of scrambling to memorize information. Knows what he is talking about and is very friendly. Weekly quizzes, which i liked because anatomy is condensed, group projects, lab work assignments which boost grades. Highly Recommend!
AVOID! you will have to teach your self. he talks very slow and repeats him self ALOT. There are a couple group projects that are very time consuming. Wastes lecture time on requiring us to learn about various college programs even though 99% of us are perusing nursing. lectures and PowerPoints do not line up with quizes. Labs are very rushed.
Professor Forough was so helpful outside of class and his study guides are EXACTLY what is on the quiz, I did very good on all quizzes even with light studying. He is very easy going and not lecture heavy. You will do good on quiz as long as you look at study guide and make flashcards. Would 100% recommend :) He made me love science
30 question multiple choice quiz every week with no final, which was really convenient for A+P since everything was more digestible in smaller bits. He says at the beginning of the class that after the quiz, you can just throwaway your notes which is kinda true. He made study guides for every quiz and grades very fast. Reza is great and very nice
Weekly multiple choice quizzes, no finals. His study guides were very helpful and he posts PowerPoints. Lectures were not required because they were on zoom, but lab class was required attendance. He really knows his stuff and really wants you to learn. Super nice
Great professor! His powerpoints are helpful for notes, he's very clear about what will be on the weekly quizzes, which are pretty easy if you pay attention. His study guides and lectures are well-structured & he's a fast grader. There are two group projects but no final exam, and the only weekly lab assignment. Great teacher 100% would recommend!
