Harandian is a great guy, but not alwayst the clearest. He has many, many errors in his handouts and on his tests, making it very difficult to figure out what he wants. Also, class starts and ends exactly on time. He WILL NOT end class early.
not very clear in his teaching and just very hard to understand, he seems like a nice guy but I wouldnt recommend taking him!

DO NOT TAKE HIM! I HAD TO DROP OUT BECAUSE I WAS FAILING HIS CLASS! YOU CANT UNDERSTAND A SINGLE THING HE SAYS, HE GOES VERY VERY FAST. HIS TESTS ARE ONLY MADE FOR HIM TO TAKE, AND HE DOESNT GRADE ON A CURVE. THIS IS THE HARDEST MATH CLASS DONT TAKE IT!
Difficult to understand but a fair teacher. Focus on the study guide. Math 21 is not an easy class but he won't give you ridiculous problems. If you don't study you won't pass. It is that easy. No reason not to get an A. Tests are NOT difficult or tricky.

good teacher, gives u alot of compliments if u r a good student, i got 96% on the first test and 100 on the second so far, pretty easy. u should come with prior knowlegge in math to understand wat is going on, he is not so clear when he speaks, but its ok its one good laugh after all. RARELY ANY HW
His tests are easy. All questions are based on his hand-outs, but different numbers. If you have a hard time understanding him, the textbook gives you all the extra info you need.
He's a very helpful teacher if you're having problems but you must keep up with the class. He goes fast but the book is easy enough to understand and he always gives practice handouts before the test.
I had math 84 with him when you asked him what to do that problem he siad I don't care about that you can go over with tutor in math lab. and his quizes and test are difficult.
If u want a great person as ur maths father, just take him. I never ever saw such a good person with untold resources. he never take things hard. he teaches well and gives relatively easy test. so get help urself right here.
He is from Iran...Not that its a bad thing, but he can't speak clear english. When he teaches he jumps around, and you basically have to guess how he got from point A to point B in his explanation. His test are left field. You aren't prepared from the book and you can't understand wha he says so its basically hopeless. Choose another professor!
Harandian is one hell of a character. He is crazy. He goes over stuff very fast. All he wants to do is teach and go home. He doesnt care about anything. If you want to study on your own and not worry about anything take him.
not a clear teacher, no offense that hes from another country but he doesn't clarify things good and he rushes through lectures. He especially mumbles a lot expecting you to know what hes talking about.
Prof. Harandian is patient, available, and very flexible. His lectures are concise & to the point. The homework is mild and his tests are very fair. His teaching style is direct without overwhelming details; instead he focuses on teaching the foundational concept of the lesson. As a non-math major I loved his class and reccomended him highly.
a really great teacher and nice person. he's extremely understanding and flexible. he really helps his students and the work load is not all that much. i was never good at math, and have always struggled with it, but not with him. extremely patient with everything. his class was really worth taking. if you work hard you'll succeed and do very well.
he is a nice teacher & all ... but does not explain well & rushes through lecture. he also has a habit of changing problems 1/2 way through to make it "easier" for him, which just confuses you more. doesnt give any E.C. either...
He was a great and fun teacher. I really don't like maths, but he made it fun,and made me want to study. I wish I had more teachers like him. He really does his best to help students do better.
He is extremely helpful - he moves fast, as do all math instructors but, if you don't get it, he will simplify it more and go over it again until you understand it. He is easy on the homework and his tests are short and direct - so, with average studying, a high grade is not hard to get.
Bad ass Iranian guy, but a bad teacher. If you need a friend, take this class, but if a teacher is needed, seek elsewhere. He's really nice and sometimes funny, but really unclear and confusing. His notes/problems are alllll over the board. He also has really annoying sayings you'll hear 20 times a class. "Agree or not?" - with his Iranian accent.
First of all, I`m unhappy with the comment of the student posted his comment on 07/18/05. It has nothing to do with his race and accent. This guy the ****in man. He is pretty funny, and laid back in his classes. Of course if you suck at math you'll most likely blame the teacher for your own inability to comprehend. Anyway i liked this teacher.

The class is very easy. Four tests + Final whole semester. EASY! He drops one of the tests. Barely any homework. (more or less optional) Available after class. Gives you points if you dont leave after the break. Doesnt care about attendance. The only problem is he can be unclear sometimes when he explains the problems on the board. "Agree or Not?"
He tends to blame his own incapabilities on other students. He is very unorganized and doesnt like students asking him questions about his teaching methods. He favors students over others, and overall just isnt a good professor. I would recommend him to those of you who are skilled in math, and dont need much assistance.
no one has right to make fun of his persian accent!.all persian teachers are smart, inteligent! you don't need to ask them qestions 6 times in order them to understand!
This could be the easist math class, at 21 level that is, that you can take. Even if you get the answer wrong on a test, he still gives you a partial point for your approach to the problem, it has to be the right one of course. Can bring a cheat sheet to the test. Tests are managable if you study. A is very obtainable. Peopele loving person.
hes a nice man. and he is good at math but makes small careless errors. overall quite clear and very helpful. he makes up the tests and its exactly what he teaches in class. take him, you will pass.

Very funny, nice guy, but disorganized. He helps you set up your test answers and really wasn't too concerned with having the homework turned in. Though this was very helpful in getting my A I still needed to see a tutor to help with understanding the problems.
lost concentration all the time. boring. unclear. too quick. mumbles n stutters. unorganized. cant really speak english all that well so it was tough to follow him. from the 1st day i thought this was a crazy class. if u kno ur math tho, u mite b fine.
Good but not enough. Disorganized, didnt care for the homework; The tests were easy, but most of the understanding came from the math lab, and tutor. Make sure to study before the class starts, it will take you to the end with an A. Although he might never check your homework, still do it, that will help you get an A in the class.
He is the best Math teacher that i have had during my study.
He is chill out, funny and nice.He DOESN'T explain well even though he knows his math.I had to get a tutor in his class.Class is average, H.w is optional, 4 exams & final was cumulative.He is super nice, he even gave me his book w/ answers b/c i didn't buy.Overall, if you know your math, you will do well. Don't rely on his lectures though.
As a person he's really nice and helpful, not the best teacher tough. He's very flexible and will help you when you need, as long as you respect him. His teaching style wasn't the best for me tough but I still got a good grade. Very nice and friendly guy, approachable kind of teacher.
Granted, he is a little disorganized, but he is a REALLY good guy with a good heart and only wants for you to succeed in his class.
Super easy math class, 3 tests (1 dropped) and 1 final, not really a good teacher though. If you struggle with math don't take this class but if you did good in math 20 it will be easy because you can teach yourself.
Great guy, has some organizational challenges, but he is a very positive man who sincerely cares about his students and teaching. His teaching is done in such way that you will learn... whether you're understanding what he is saying or correcting him when he gets off track. He's hilarious, extremely flexible, and will help you til the end.
i love him! he is the nices prof. granted he's not completly organized. but who is? he's so helpfull, i never hesitated in asking him a question. the best part is that he drops a test, so you're graded on 3 tests and the final. the only prob. is that his class is very hard to get into. it gets full quick.

AMAZING teacher. Harandian makes math simple. He gives you these worksheets for homework and they are exactly like the questions on the tests. He takes a lot of time thoroughly explaining the material. Just attend class, do your work, study, and you will get an A. Harandian is not one of those tricky teachers. I highly recommend him.

harandian has a good heart. nice guy, good teacher... moves quick at times... but if he does just raise ur hand and tell him to slow down a bit. great energy in the class... he doesnt care if you make jokes/call out.. i was the class clown... make sure to attend classes. he lets u use a page of notes on the tests.. hes great man really
I don't get the comments that keep on whining about how hard his classes are. He's probably one of THE BEST professors at SMC. He explains everything thoroughly, has accessible handouts online, and is open to any questions brought up in class. If you ACTUALLY PAY ATTENTION to his main lectures and it's a pretty easy class.

TERRIFIC TEACHER but kinda quirky! I hated math w/ a passion and this man has helped me become an A student, but u gotta: attend class, do the work and ASK QUESTIONS, well, that and viral math tutors. RECOMMENDED FOR ALL

His class is easy to pass, the only thing is that with his heavy accent I couldn't understand what he was saying. I got all my help from a classmate who had taken this class in high school and was really good at it. His tests are straight forward, HW due in the end of the month. The tests are pretty long too.
Very nice guy and good teacher. Makes a lot of clumsy mistakes but its part of learning. Very funny and has a funny accent! Take notes and DO THE HW for practice. tests are very simple. good luck!

nice man; great instructor. will stay after class to answer questions; answers emails promptly. he's quite funny and keeps your interest in the class. if you're not getting it -ASK. he will help you.
He has a really thick accent in which I couldn't understand. His tests are super hard and his final was supposed to be multiple choice, yeah right. Some were but most of it was not. HW is not important and his teaching is not clear. Avoid him and find a better teacher because unless your good at math take him. If not it'd be best to avoid him
NICE MAN, BUT VERY DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND. LECTURES ARE MONOTONE AND BORING. HW AND ATTENDANCE NOT MANDATORY BUT RECOMMENDED. WOULD NOT TAKE HIS CLASS AGAIN, BUT DID NOT HATE IT EITHER.
A little bit hard to understand his accent but he's funny and very nice. He hated the required math book and he never used it and it cost 150 dollars and they wouldn't even buy it back which sucked. HW and attendance aren't mandatory but if you want to do well in the class, you should do both. Good guy and tries to help as best he can.

Prof Harandian is a very nice guy. a refreshing change from other professors who don't care about their students (he truly does) . if you're good at math, then take him, if ur not, then ... . Prof Harandian is very helpful, and his class should be one of your better experiences at SMC
Very nice guy.. def knows his math, but teaches it in his own way. If ur good at math, it should be fine. But if you arent', then try harder and go to his office hours. 3 exams + 1 Final mult choice and drops lowest exam grade.
Great guy. Easy to talk to. He does have a very thick accent, but after a while you get used to it and its kinda entertaining. If you dont understand something, just tell him. He will go over it again or give another example. Great guy. Pretty good teacher.
he is so cute! always willing to help if you have questions, then ask. drops lowest grade. tests are not hard but usually there are only 8 or so get em all right! he does have an accent, but it honestly does not get in the way of understanding him. Also if you are stuck on the test ask for hel it is most likely an error.
Very helpful! His lecture notes are sometimes similar to exams. If you're stuck on an exam Q he'll be there to help, guide you, and sometimes give you the answer. Lets you use notecards on exams too. Thick accent, but you'll get used to it. He drops the lowest grade. Easy class! Take him!!
Personally, I felt like he wasn't very clear in his lectures. But what made up for it was the fact that he was always always always willing to answer questions. His tests were easy. Drops lowest score and gives partial credit. I suck at math and I passed. So :)

GREAT PERSON! will help you a lot! if you sit in the front and pay attention you dont even have to do the homework to understand it. Ask him questions and you will pass. Homework points given regardless if you do it or not.

He is a really nice guy and very open to helping you. While I did not perform well in this class since it's been many years that I've been out of school I still feel he was a really good and fair professor. Take his class during a full semester and not a short summer. That's when it get's hard. Very fair and good.
Very sweet man. Sometimes he gets a bit lost while lecturing, but he picks up quickly. I'd suggest being self-sufficient if you take his class; lectures sometimes a bit dry, but he's eager to help whenever possible.
Majority of his HW & lectures are based upon his handouts which you can download off his website. He rushes at times, so the lectures can get confusing. Self-Study is a must to pass his class & very accommodating in trying to help a student attain extra points through extra credit. 4 Quizzes, drops the lowest one & cumulative final.
He's a sweetheart. Very lenient. His accent is unclear sometimes and he makes a lot of mistakes in his lessons. Just pay attention, sit in the front, and you'll be fine. Homework can be turned in whenever, tests are kinda hard just review beforehand. Easiest class thus far.
Very lenient on homework assignments. Basically just study for the tests. Very thick, annoying accent. The tests are only 10, longgg questions so if you miss one problem you won't get an A. The only course I have ever dropped.
He bases the final grade on test scores, homework he doesn't ever officially assign, & attendance. He lectures by doing problems on the board so quickly, & in such a thick accent, he's very hard to follow. He will try to help you pass somehow, though, if you ask. Be ready to do a lot of at-home studying since he doesn't teach very well.
LOVED HIM! At first I thought that he was a horrible teacher: heavy accent, skims through things, etc. But once you actually participate in class and ask questions, he will help you out; you will start to see that he is REALLY CHILL WITH EVERYTHING!! 3 tests and a Final. TIP: try asking him a question on a test. He'll REALLY REALLY help you :)

Hes a really nice guy, knows his stuff, but disorganized and works at a fast pace. Hes very understanding, homework is optional, so your entire grade practically is based on the tests. He will be on your side and try to help you and benefit your grade in anyway he can, even sometimes by giving you a little extra "help" on tests. need2 study 2 pass

I actually REALLY loved having him for Math84. Yes his accent can be a little tough to understand but its really not that bad at all. He's hilarious and you can ALWAYS find him in the math lab before class. He's there to help and loves to help so utilize his time as much as you can if math is your worst subject like me
If you have a hard time with math, dont take this professor. He is nice as a person but cant teach. He says that the book is useless and gives handouts as homework, but barely goes through all of it. Overall, this class is very confusing and his teacher style is confusing as well. Exams are hard and this class is a struggle.

If he wants you to pass the class, you will pass the class. However, if you get excellent grades and he does not like you, you will get an C.

His lectures are HEAVY. He covers 2 chapters in one class. He doesn't give out any notes and take the tests based on materials that he didn't cover. You barely can understand what he is saying because of his accents, and when you ask him a questions the only thing that he says is that "don't worry about it".
This professor is unacceptable because he has left student to not take final exams and he says don't worry you will have an A. And others student with average 85 he gives C if he doesn't want without reason . I have never met worse and subjective person in my life.
He is not clear, and does not like helping students.
