I can't understand a thing the guy does
He scared me at first. But I like him after I attended more letcures.
I was intimidated at first but you come to really like the guy.He LOVES Physics!
Cannot understand a word he says. That's why I got a 1!!! Damn guy!
his english is not so good, but he know
This man loves his physics! So intense, but so good.... WHAT IS FORCE!?!
A lot of fun. He WANTS you to learn and understand his passion, PHYSICS!
Great Prof! Enthusiastic and cares for his students! Full of energy and knowledge. Might be a little hard to understand but is still one of the best proffs at Mac :)
This dude would tower above all profs if he was not ESL. His enthusiasm is contagious. He loves to teach. Don’t be scared of his interactive style. Once you realize there is no shame in not knowing the answers to one of his on-the-spot questions, you
Dr. Nejat is great! He makes difficult concepts easy to understand. He loves to teach and it helps you learn more.
Extremely enthusiastic, interacts with the class and explains concepts better than any prof I've had. He taught us differential equations so well we asked him to come teach our math class! Best prof ever!
I have no idea what he was saying. Tests were tough and exam was easy, but it didn't really test understanding. Marking made no sense and he was uncooperative regarding a remark.
Terrible. I saw him yell at a student for not knowing the answer to the question "what is force?" If you've got him for 1E3 - attend a different lecture. Having the word element screamed over and over won't help you understand area integr
He totally reminds me of Saddam Hussain...in a good way. For the first time ever, I dont sleep in Physics class....he really sticks his face in yours to get an answer...makes you think
Please class, have a discussion, I've never been picked on so much in a class in my life. Although he's really smart, he needs to understand that we're really not.
Not only did he explain the physics really well, he also taught us the necessary math months before we learned it in our math class, and did a better job of it than the math prof. He absolutely loves to talk to students (for hours if you go to his office)
It might seem like he's picking on you when he singles you out, but don't take it personally - he just wants to get everyone involved. Very effective as a teacher. Taking his class even helped with understanding other classes.
He's a love or hate kinda guy, and I think he's great. Got me to understand and appreciate basic physics much more thoroughly than in high school. And he's really helpful if you want a recommendation letter or some extra help. Volunteer in class, too.
Very good prof. He gets the class involved in most of his lectures and is very helpful if you don't understand something. He also cares for his students, one example is he changed a test date because he knew that we had 4 other tests in that week.
Very good prof. Tries to help poor students in spite of them clearly not having read material. His lectures highlight the shortcomings of only understanding application. Very helpful as he shows hidden relationships in physics. Underappreciated because majority of his students are stupid and lazy.
If you are not very good at physics, he is the guy for you! He makes you understand! But if you do have some insight into physics, you might get bored in his lectures!
He is just great
An awesome prof. Very understanding and encouraging. Tries to help poor students in spite of them clearly not having read material. Underappreciated many of his students
Best Physics prof!
Animated teaching style and frequent class interaction definately keep your attention focused on the material. Goes out of his way to explain things for the art students who mistakenly applied to science. <evilgrin>
fantastic instructor a fan favorite but also serious at the same time. He will help no matter what he is doing at the time but also brings the material to life. He points and asks people questions but that is to get people involved and never done with malice. Best class I have had at mac and best prof.
Communicates ideas very well, with a lot of useful analogies. Tests are reasonable. Very nice to students, he printed about 30 pgs of notes for not being able to find it on the website.
The proboblity of Lyowder!
If you somehow land in his class, quickly try to transfer into Hughes'. He is sweet but he doesn't take the time to answer questions slowly and clearly and he wastes too much time asking people if they've done their work. The english is a little problem too!
Dr Nejat is awesome! I never really like physics, but he made it interesting, fun and easy enough for me to take both semesters! He's so kind, and really cares about students. He makes university courses feel like high school again - class interaction and compassion for students! "Please turn off your cell phones, nobody wants to dance now!"
A good prof, definitely keeps you paying attention otherwise he will ask you a question. One of the few classes that I liked.
I absolutely love this guy. He's such a little cute old man with the funniest accent ever. He likes to single people out so sit in the front to avoid be asked questions. Rather than lecturing he prefers to lead class discussions which is very helpful. If you go to his office hours he is very helpful, he helped me the day of the exam and I did super
Best professor at McMaster. I got an A- in his class and most of the credit goes to his friendly teaching skills. His demeanor is very simple and that makes it really easy to approach him. He helps students a lot, makes photocopies of exercise sheets for students, post solutions promptly, has a clear voice and very interactive.
Quite simply he is just my favorite professor this semester.
Funny dude, fully did a pendulum trial in class and nearly got knocked down by the flying pendulum. Picks on random people in class, and gets disappointed if low test avg for his class. Do your work every night and he'll be impressed!
Great Prof. Has high expectations of students, but does everything imaginable to help you attain his high standards. Extremely approachable and helpful, good sense of humor and friendly. Highly suggest taking his classes. A+ for Nejat
I love him! "GO AHEAD!!" "Hello guys!"
Very enthusiastic and willing to help, but can be very unclear. Weekly assignments are relatively helpful but tedious. Participate in his class and he'll love you.
A very enthusiastic and caring professor. Assignments are helpful, tests challenging, exam quite easy. I think more focus on assigning selected homework problems rather than "just do the ones in your book" would have been helpful. He really loves his students and loves teaching.
Great professor, funny guy, and loves his students.
Good prof. loves to grab students out of the audience to answer questions. some accent difficulties. slight organizational issues with regards to capa
Had him for engphy 2d03. He made it hard and interesting at the same time. Really enjoys forcing you to think
only class where i learnt shat and still managed to get a decent grade.
Funny man, but not very clear as a teacher and not very good at answering questions and helping people to better understand the content.
Nice guy, funny, engages the students and does his best to make it easy without insulting your intelligence. My favorite prof this semester :)
He is very interesting and funny.
I am not a fan of phsyics at all..in fact i hate it but this prof made me actually want to come to class and learn it..hes good at what he does and his tests are fair!
his english is bad, he talks funny and he is so boring.
Coming into this course without any background in physics proved to be quite challenging; this course is not as much of a bird as everyone says it was and it was in fact my lowest mark this year.
very attentive.. realizes that in this course most people either hate or have trouble with physics so he tries and effectively makes the class interesting... 'oh that's a good one!'
Nejat's a champ
He was a good prof! He def loves teaching n wants his students to get the best. I took physics 1L03 n got a good mark in his class :) He is very help, although indeed he does speak funny and unclear sometimes
useless.
Recommend dropping this course if you have him. Goes through useless material and is reluctant to help students.
Very helpful! Love him! I think he is the a very responsible prof.
Extremely difficult to understand in class. Asks questions before teaching concepts. I had a really hard time in this course not taking physics in high school. He is a very nice man though, if you go to office hours, you may not learn more, but he will help you with your grades.
Hard to understand him, he makes mistakes in lectures and expects you to be a lecture ahead with loncapa and quizzes. Not a fan.
Dr. Nejat gets a lot of flak, but I think most of that is misplaced frustration with the course itself. Physics is not easy by any stretch of the imagination, and it takes a lot of self-directed learning to get a good mark in this class. That being said, Dr. Nejat is always willing to help, and does his best to clarify even the most trivial issues.
Very helpful
Amazing Prof! He loves to engage the class and picks on people but it enhances the classes learning! The best physics prof hands down! Definitely recommended as he prepares you the most for the brutal midterm and exam!
This professor is very rude in my opinion. Very unapproachable. Luckily, this was just an elective; unfortunately, it was a waste of money.
You have to go to class because of the iClickers, useless prof who thinks that if he yells at you enough it will make it through your thick skull
his mustache gives you a better understanding of Newton's laws.
Never met a professor like him. Coming to uni, I had some difficulties and he changed my opinion of what it means to be taught by someone who cares. He has the biggest heart, and has been almost a father figure to me. Always willing to help, he will go the extra mile to make sure you understand, and does anything he can to help--with anything.
Very caring professor who genuinely cares for his students to do well in the course
Hi All (C05, C06) Nejat was my favourite prof in first year. He was always so caring and so genuine, and so helpful in office hours. I'm honestly going to miss sitting in ABB 102 and having Nejat teach me physics. Even though the course was hard, he did a great job. Bottom line, he's an awesome professor and an even better human being. OK!
Really knows what he's talking about, and really loves teaching. I looked forward to going to class.
"Draw Free Body Diagram", "Next by you" are only a few of his catchphrases that I will miss from this class. He really engages the students and tries to make the lectures funny and less intimidating. Enter his class you would not only learn physics but just life in general. Awesome prof. Try to have physics class with him as much as possible.
Great professor. Lectures are hilarious and usefull. Test are quite tough, but if you do the wrong, they're not impossible. 10/10 would take a class with him anyday
ONE MINUTE READ, ONE MINUTE ANSWER - proceeds to allow 2-3 minutes for iclicker answers while hovering over the end poll button in anticipation.
His accent and very interactive teaching style take some time to get used to, but you can tell he wants you to succeed in his class. Labs were meh.....
I go everyday to watch him say the words "and the rest is math"
Given the complex nature of the nuclear physics, his explanations were very clear but missing depth. Nejat is an amazing professor and a human; very friendly, doesn't try to avoid you, and reasonable. I respect him a lot.
Dr. Nejat is an incredible professor. He is inspiring not only for physics but also for life and dreams.
Great prof! His classes are quite entertaining and engaging. You won't ever dreadfully stare at a clock waiting for his class to be over. He's funny, passionate about physics, and good at explaining concepts. He picks on people to answer questions so be prepared for that!! It's great that he does that, makes you pay attention.
"Find your knowns, find your unknows, the rest is math, and do you want a microphone?" are what you're gonna hear from Dr. Nejat. Dr. Nejat is easily the best physics a prof a student can have who really cares with all his heart that we learn and do well in exams. Really accessible outside class and appreciates it when someone works hard.
Physics 1E03 : Introduction to life choices and lessons xD. Honestly Nejat is one of the best profs you can have for year one Engineering.
Studied for his class more than any other ENG1 course yet barely passed... the way he taught was confusing and learning on your own from his slides is very hard because of the way the slides are. Also puts important questions in lectures but doesn't provide a solution to them. Wouldn't recommend
His accent is really hard to understand. He rushes through the whole lecture and only gives a minute to solve questions that would take at least 5 minutes to solve. Therefore, You end up understanding nothing. I studied off youtube for the whole course and my grade wasn't too bad. The only reason I went to lectures was for the iclicker questions.
Nejat was a legendary prof to have his random in-class pop quizzes kept everyone on their toes, but you could tell that he really did care that his students succeed and inspired us to a high standard.
caring prof that you can tell he truly wants you to succeed. Although lectures are hard to follow along, and when you try to go home and read them online, none of the questions have any solutions to them. tests were very difficult and multiple choice was impossible. wouldnt really recommend as a prof, but seehim in his office hours is really helpful
Cares about the class
Professor Nejat is the cornerstone of the physics department. He loves the subject and really wants his students to succeed. However, his classes are by no means easy. You have to definitely be willing to put in work to do well. He expects you to read ahead and do homework that in addition to the labs and Loncapa take up a lot of time.
Dr. Nejat's lecture is dynamic. He is always patient to answer your questions.
Super amazing prof. Very patient and gives engaging classes. There is no class where you feel tired and want to sleep. He always keeps you on your toes and genuinely wants you to succeed. Overall amazing prof and would recommend to all. Nejatty Daddi for life
Very unhelpful lecture. I used to go just to know what exactly i need to study from the textbook. People love his lectures because he picks on people and makes random jokes. Wouldnt take him but alot of people recommend him.
Nejat the GOAT
Best physics prof at mac
He's a great professor who knows how the students think and genuinely cares for our success. He's also very quirky but it helps keep the students engaged, I always look forward to his classes.
the PDF in class is a mess. The the expression of test paper is ambiguous
He knows how to teach you so you understand the concept but the tests are hard
One of the most amazing professors at McMaster I have ever had
A nice and caring prof who actually wants his students to learn. He can be quirky sometimes when students get picked on by him during lecture. Make sure you pay detailed attention during lecture!
Dr. Nejat is the prof who really teaches something in class instead of reading lecture slides. There always be a 'check list'. "Will I test you on this question? Yes! Will I give any assistance? No!" He said that phones should be turned off in class but never blame someone whose phone rang. "Nobody wants to dance." LONCAPA can be hard. Keep calm.
Dr. Nejat is the funniest guy. He'll absolutely obliterate someone he calls out in lectures, and then calm them down after their spirits are crushed. All in a good way though. He's really big on participation so going to lectures helps. "The rest is math."
As I have only experienced Dr Nejat online, I can only speak to this experience. I find the slides helpful in this course but the teaching style is not for me, instead of helping students through problems he makes them feel incompetent and doesnt help with the learning process. I dont enjoy the constant threats about participation. Not recommend
Funny good guy but slides and teaching style is not good. Haven't learnt anything from him and had to teach it myself.
Okay, whoever said that Nejat can teach, I'm not sure what they're on. The class is all over the place, especially the lecture slides. He mumbles in the lecture videos and you have no idea what he's talking about. He's also pretty patronizing whenever someone asks a question. I'm on track to getting a 12, but I'm teaching everything to myself.
The class wouldn't be TOO bad, but he made no effort to transfer it to online.
My favourite lectures from first year. Very nice and fair. Clearly puts a lot of effort in teaching. Slightly disorganized and makes a lot of typos in slides but will make sure to rectify them. Know your stuff, he will call on you in class and you will need to explain your answer, otherwise you'll lose participation marks
- Lectures are not mandatory but very helpful; he stresses and explains key concepts very thoroughly - Homework questions are very helpful; they are similar difficulty to test questions - Test difficulty is very fair - Labs are time consuming; your experience will depend on your group - Would recommend if you did well and enjoyed 1AO3
He will call on you during class but will never make fun of you if you get it wrong. Really caring prof, the course is managable but not easy by any means. Assignments take several days to complete (for me atleast) but good bonus marks for just showing up to class
His physics class is very hard and has low averages but he tried to give students what they need to succeed. Hes a big believer in understanding instead of just knowing
He's amiable and you can tell he cares about his students, but he's awful at explaining difficult concepts. He often uses incomplete sentences and half-thoughts when explaining the answer to a problem.
Dr Nejat definitely cares a lot about physics, and some students react really well to his teaching. However I personally did not enjoy Dr Nejat's teaching style. He insists on calling out to students to "teach themselves" whether they have an answer or not... His notes are basically useless scribbles and he often doesn't finish his sentences.
The most uncoordinated course instructor you will ever meet. Unironically makes students watch the most mind-numbing 2 hours of pre-lecture content weekly and expects students to be proficient at it in 2 days for the irl classes. You can't escape since he coordinates the course, and he somehow outdoes himself every time he makes an announcement.
Poorly organized. Lectures were all over the place and filled with content that was overwhelming and confusing. Too many equations and variables plastered on the slides. Many of the concepts could be simplified and explained in a straightforward manner. Not a lot of support for student success. Attendance mattered more than understanding.
Does not answer emails, the TA carries the course on her back. He calls on people who look the most vulnerable and then rips them apart in front of a room of 100+. Would not recommend going to his office hours unless you want to cry.
He tends to put questions that he says are not on the test, ONTO THE TEST. He is very adamant about attendance. He also has a slight accent making it hard to understand. If lectures are in person, sit at the front, it is really hard to hear him from the back.
Dr Nejat goes out of his way to embarrass students during in-person lectures. If he asks you a question and you really don't have any kind of answer, don't worry, he'll sit down and wait you out! Almost never gets through the lecture notes because of this. There's a way to avoid all of this though, go to another profs lectures..
honestly, this class was brutal (I took it fall of COVID 2021 online). The lectures were long, convoluted, and boring. Often would say "the rest is math" and not explain how to do the math. The ORGANIC CHEMISTRY TUTOR made me pass and you're better off watching those videos on the topics before class.
Hey you! Yes, you! Stand up!
Although this class is notoriously difficult, there is no better professor to teach it than Dr. Nejat. He takes his time to explain thoroughly and you can tell her genuinely cares about his students and what he is teaching. Even though he cold-calls, he never makes fun of you or makes you feel less than. Overall, very caring and inspirational.
The goat himself.
He is amazing
forces kids to participate. causes anxiety. i stayed home for most of the semester and did iclicker virtually. he's decent at explaining the material.
hes scary
he just read old slides in lectures which is terrible because reading slides is not enough for students to understanding the tough concepts. his lectures are questions section not a regular lecture.
Yes, he calls on random people during his lecture to answer questions (actually kind of like that). Yes, his slides are really old. But somehow I just love this prof. He is the old-fashion type of prof you should expect, you may don't like his way of teaching, but you can't say he is not a good prof.
going to class made me misunderstand the content more than just reviewing the slides by myself. I kept going to class though cuz of fomo
Great professor, his style really helps students get out of their shell even if it's scary. Results in student preparedness when put on the spot.
He's good at making people participate He's really funny lol Mr. Hat! Mr. Glass! Mr. Red! Mr. Blue!
He is very nice and engaging with the class. The goat
He clearly cares very very much about his students and about physics, but sometimes his lectures are hard to follow along with content -wise despite being engaging and funny.
Nejat cares about his students. His lectures are throughout and clear. Tests were fair and overall I loved the class.
The professor has a unique teaching style, but engaging with it can be rewarding. Lectures may be dense, so supplementing with resources like the Organic Chemistry Tutor and Unstuck AI can be very helpful for study prep.
This class was so nerve-wracking because Dr. Nejat cold calls his students. It's not the worst thing ever, but it distracted me from learning the content because I was so focused on not messing up in front of the entire lecture hall. I only got a decent grade because of the Organic Chemistry Tutor, so I basically learned nothing from his class.
He will call on you so be prepared and if you don't know he might clown you for it. Basically learned everything through prep101, ilectureonline and organic chem tutor. Don't bother showing up to lecture if you expect to actually learn anything.
He skim's through lecture slides very quickly and reads through them a lot and calls out students which puts them on the edge. If you can get a different prof for lectures cause he's hard to understand.
The course was hard snd he made the course even worse. His lectures are confusing and his thick accent made it incomprehensible. Basically I watched youtube and lectures from other prof
I had a lot of fun in this course and the lectures were engaging. It was my 8:30 and I was never bored. He does go through slides quickly, but he wants you to get the concepts in class and study them at home. There was a lot of practice for midterms and they were super fair. I loved this prof, he truly cares about people and it shows.
TERRIBLE course and prof Physics 1AA3 DO NOT TAKE unless you have to. there are so many mistakes in his slides and he explains them in the hardest way possible. The prof does not answer questions and just tells you to reach out to diff TAs. keep in mind TAs didn't know what they were doing! one TA said something while one marked differently.
Quickly read off slides. Calls on students way too much it just wastes time.
Good explanations and always likes to make sure students understand materials before moving on.
The prof truly does not care about you, best of luck if you are taking his course. You better either get an AI subscription to help you with your studies or get a tutor.
DO NOT TAKE UNLESS YOU HAVE TO. One of the worse courses I have ever taken. No one truly knows what he is teaching, you have to study on your own. Unorganized course and overall just terrible.
