This was an extremely interesting class that was very comprehensive throughout the course of the semester. She was very funny and explained things in a way that everyone could relate to and understand. Rhena was a great instructor who was very helpful and fair.

Absolutely the best!! she wants you to learn, and does everything she can to make that happen. It's obvious she teaches because she loves to teach and share her passion for science.

Good instructor, but insanely picky over the smallest detail. Not very understanding with personal issues. This class desperately needs a prerequisite requirement if she's going to be so picky. 200-level class, but very challenging. NIC should consider a pre-req requirement for this class.

Wow...Microbiology in the Summer = 8 weeks of intense study. She tells you at the beginning, "I own you for the next 8 weeks" and she's not kidding. Good instructor, but you'll need sharp attention to detail. I disagree with previous rater...I had a new job orientation I could NOT miss, and she let me make up an entire lab session! Hard, but fair!

I am now a surgeon in Canada, thanks to Rhena Cooper and Peter Zao. Anatomy I and II and Micro 250 Were the first tough science classes I had ever taken in college, and thanks to their crystal clear teaching techniques and the study habits I developed taking her class, I was able to become a surgeon. Ms. Rhena was a funny and cool teacher. I liked her class, but she certainly did not hand me an A. Her notes were sort of confusing and her tests had trick questions in them. Pay attention, study and do your homework, and you will do great in her class.

Ms Rhena is a good teacher. She tries to make the lectures interesting and give you ways to remember the information overload. Her exams are very hard and you have to seriously know the content. I had a lot of personal stuff going on and Ms Rhena did everything in her power to help. If you want to learn this stuff she will sit and help you get it.

Since this class as a pre-rec for the NIC nursing program, Miss Rhena REALLY makes you know the material. I've been an A student my whole life, because most tests are easy, and can be passed through short term memory. She made me work my butt off for my B-, but I will remember what I learned in her class for the rest of my life! Excellent teacher!

Unrealistically difficult instructor! 1/2 the students in my class were re-taking the course due to prior or near failure. Ms.Cooper often has an attitude when questioned. The exams are brutal and she cuts down the time to complete them. Apparently she's also stated that she hates giving students A's and B's. However, her Texan accent is charming.

Wow, best teacher I ever had. The class material is hard but Miss Rhena does everything she can to help you understand. She expects a lot of her students and herself. Because of the rigor at NIC I was very successful when I transferred to the University of Idaho.

Ms. Rhena is a great instructor! Her teaching style is clear and she is very helpful. People that do poorly in her class typically don't put in the required effort. It's a 2nd year biology class, so it's not easy. I took Micro along with A&P, and managed to obtain a B. Extra studying goes a long way in this class, and she makes it interesting.

Miss Rhena is a fabulous instructor. Her lectures are interesting & she is quite funny. Lab is fun & helpful. Her tests are quite a challenge but if you study you will do just fine!

Course was very interesting, but tests ridiculously hard (I did really well in Zao's A&P, so not a matter of laziness). The only way to pass is by studying old tests, which ever one I knew did. She also doesn't like her personal beliefs being questioned.

Concepts of Human Nutrition. Loved the class. Rhena is interesting. In class she has the sweetest southern charm and is always very helpful. Outside of class she is not nearly as nice or helpful. Her tests are difficult and require actually studying the details not just the main idea. I recommend the class for sure though!

Best teacher I have ever had in college. The material is tough but the exams are fair. Students who complain are just not studying correctly. Rhena does everything possible to give you the tools to succeed but you have to do the work. The exams do NOT have trick questions but you do have to apply linear and deductive reasoning.

Miss Rhena is the best professor I have ever had in college. She is organized, fun and work hard for each student. The material is not easy but she does her best to help us learn. She is a fantastic instructor.

If you are taking a 200 level class it is expected that you've learned how to study- taking lecture notes and re-reading them will NOT get you by in this class. Miss Rhena is very helpful if you have an appropriate question aka you tried to find the answer yourself. Read, re-write your notes, use colors, and work hard. Love this class teacher.

Love the lectures. Miss Rhena is fun, informative, and really knowledgeable. Her tests are hard, but fair. You get to really show off what you know. They are definitely challenge, but that just makes it all the more fun. She has been teaching a long time and knows what shes doing. I have so much respect for her This class is great.

Miss Rhena is an awesome profresser, she is really great person to chat with once you get to know you and she knows who you are. I am not going to lie, the tests and lab practical is super tough. It's definitely an interesting class and needed if going to Nursing.

Miss Rhena was awesome. Totally funny throughout lecture and lab. She is a hoot! I loved it. She completely made this class very enjoyable. I would take it again, but I passed the course!

Best instructor at NIC. Not easy material but Miss Rhena is a master at delivering material in a digestible fashion!

Pros: 1) Smart, funny and delivers the material very well. 2) Always gives time to prepare for tests - use it! 3) Lab is fun, much more relaxed than A&P w/ the Zao's. Cons: 1) Tests are hard! Study more than you think - spelling matters. 2) There is no extra credit. Tips: Rewatch lectures, take detailed notes, make diagrams and pics 4 study

Miss Rhena is terribly funny, and manages to make the materials some of the most interesting you will ever be exposed to. She covers the materials in depth, make sure you follow her notes as closely as possible and take advantage of reading the book before class so you have an extra set of foundational knowledge (the book REALLY helps w/ exams).

She's an amazing instructor and teaches the information very well. However, doesn't have much compassion for simple mistakes or questioning grading of any kind. Tests are very difficult and require attention to detail - 200 point exams with only 50-60 questions... you do the math. Very hard class, Rhena is a great teacher with hard tests.

This is one of the best classes I have ever taken. Mrs. Rhena is a talented teacher. She challenges students to truly understand the material which prepares us for the future. The expectations in this course are similar to that of upper level university courses. Be prepared to study a lot more than you expect to. Dont miss out on any lab points!

This class isnt easy, but you will learn a lot from Miss Rhena. She isnt kidding when she tells you to memorize the material front and back, and that is including everything she says in lecture, not just the notes. And every time she draws something, MEMORIZE IT. The exams are complex and very unpredictable.

Absolutely love Miss Rhena. She is a wonderful teacher and extremely passionate about the material she teaches! Yes her exams are hard but she gives you all the resources you need to succeed.

I absolutely loved Ms. Rhena. She was hilarious and very good at what she does. her tests are extremely hard, but study well enough and go to the tutoring sessions and you'll do just fine. Lab with her is easy and she is very approachable and understanding.

I had to retake the class bc I did not have enough time devoted to it. DEVOTE THE TIME. Rhena is one of the best (and hilarious) professors I have ever had. Makes material easy to understand and remember. Study her notes FRONT TO BACK and her old exams. Lab was easy, focus on exams and utilize her lab pictures online to study for the lab practical.

Rhena is one of the sweetest and funniest professors I've ever had. Her class is tremendously difficult and you'll need to study the material pretty much every day to pass, but she genuinely cares about her students and wants them to pass. Make sure to ask for help if you need it though because this class goes very fast and it's easy to get behind.

This is a hard class. I am not really sure if it is becauseNIC is trying to filter out as many prospective nursing student as possible, or if thats just the she likes to teach the course. Just knowing the material is not enough, and IT IS ALOT of material. Testing is applying the material on a level youve never even thought about before. Study.

I really enjoyed Miss Rhena's class, and would definitely recommend her to any student ready to work hard! She presented the material in a manageable way, and was very up-front about her expectations on the exams. There is a LOT of information to cover in this class, but Miss Rhena gives students all of the resources they need to be successful.

This class is not easy at all, however it will greatly prepare you for your profession. Rhena does a great job of presenting the necessary material for pre-professional careers. If you work hard and study on a daily basis, then this class can most definitely be passed with a high grade. Simply show up to each class and lab and work hard!

Very hard class but Rhena is so helpful and will answer any questions you have. She gives you all the material you need to do great you just have to put in a lot of work to understand the material. She was a fair grader also.

A very kind and lighthearted professor, Mrs. Cooper gave clear lectures and did a great job outlining what would need to be studied to do well on exams. She was always available to review your exams with and gave clear feedback. The lab was very fun and lighthearted, nothing ever felt confusing or daunting. I highly recommend taking her classes.
