smith makes o-chem a lot easier to understand. he uses lecture slides/notes that you just have to follow along and fill in some blanks, which are very helpful. tests are hard if you don't study and keep up. tests are all cumulative! homework is extra credit, which helps! i would definately recommend smith if you have to take organic.

Must teach yourself material from his videos, take a quiz, then he lectures you on it. Quizzes don't focus on what is on exam. Makes it VERY difficult to get good grades in class even if you understand the material and are doing well on exams. Way too much work and not a very good teacher.

Dr. Smith honestly is an ideal professor. He's super smart and organized; if he sees you trying, he'll help you. His class is hard, but not impossible. If you're biochemistry or pre med/vet, you need to just go ahead and take him. I'm in my first true bchm class this semester, and having him last semester for orgo I was a gamechanger. Work ahead!

Dr. Smith is hands down the best Chem professor at Clemson. He requires more work because you have to read and learn the lesson before you get to class and he teaches you. Only assignments are learning quizzes- they are hard but he drops so many that everyone ends up with good grades. He writes most of the exams, always has the highest averages. :)

Had Dr. Smith for orgo 1 and 2. Far and away my favorite professor. His class requires a lot of study/preparation for difficult lecture quizzes, but his students consistently have the highest exam averages. Gives comprehensive exam reviews. Roughly 12-15 quizzes, but only keeps highest grades, this boosted people's grade by half a letter grade.

Best orgo professor at Clemson. The small quizzes every class definitely got annoying, but he drops a lot of them so they end up being a grade booster. They definitely help you learn the material better too. His test and overall class averages were much higher than all of the other sections. An A or B is definitely possible in his class.

Dr. Smith is literally the best. He puts so much effort into giving you lots of practice material, help videos, etc. The quizzes can be stressful, but he drops over half of them because he really wants you to succeed. He's awesome for orgo 2. The class may seem daunting at first, but he gives you all the resources you need to succeed, including his own lecture guide. Gives a step-by-step guide for what to do each week (optional but super helpful). In-class quizzes almost every week, but having to study for them weekly really made the tests easier down the line.
