We read 2-3 articles a week and wrote a 1 page critical response on it, she doesn't grade too hard. We had 3 essays. One 5-10 minute presentation in front of the class. Read a 200 page book (oryx & crake) with mini quizzes instead of a textbook. No tests in this class. She is a strong believer in protesting and standing up for change. Loved her!!!

Ms. Hillman is an amazing professor! She allows her students to express their opinions on topical subjects and she doesn't require a textbook. The homework she assigns is usually not that difficult and she's a very nice and understanding instructor. :) If you're looking to take English 205, I recommend Ms. Hillman with no hesitation.

Hillman was a dope professor! Class was very interesting & relevant. Covered different topics but in the end they all come together. The textbook for this quarter was Oryx&Crake and we didn't read it until the 2nd half of the quarter. Nothing is too complicated and if students do feel overwhelmed she's willing to compromise and extend deadlines!!

She was a great professor and I 100 percent would recommend her for anybody looking to take English 205!! The most homework we would have i,s the read a few articles a week and write one paragraph responses (and about 1 essay/project a month). She is an easy going, fun/relatable professor!

Amazing teacher! Overall an easy grader. Time consuming homework but super easy which helps lift your grade! For people like me who are horrible at English I recommend taking her! By far the best class I have taken, Hands down. The class is informative, interesting, work-efficient and flat out fun. There's videos, movies, books, group discussions, you name it! Easily one of the best professors you'll come across. Doesn't take late work, but is fairly reasonable towards deadlines and due dates. She makes the class almost as a home where opinions are respected and your presence is cared for. I have the upmost respect for her as she does her students. Highly recommend taking this class!

The best teacher I have ever taken. You will NOT regret this class at all. As long as you try, you will pass (most likely with a 4.0!!). She actually cares about her students! Everything we covered in the class is also very up to date and relatable, it's not old dated things. It's real time news/pop,culture which makes the readings interesting

The teacher is great! She truly teaches you a lot of things and opens your eyes to new perspectives. You do have three papers you have to finish but they are on very interesting topics! You also have to read one book but its interesting and she spreads out the time. Lots of extra credit opportunities!

I loved Ms. Hillman!! She is so down to earth and hilarious. When I had her class, there were 3 essays throughout the quarter, one novel, and mini readings. The only thing I did not like was how she did not post homework on canvas ahead of time... so I felt as if I always did CRRs the night before.

Stay on top of the deadlines and you will do great. Offers LOTS (and by lots i mean up to 25 points) of extra credit so honestly if you dont get a 4.0 then you just probably missed alot of days and have alot of zeros in the gradebook.

Professor Hillman is awesome. Her class goes over real world topics and it really forces you to think and form opinions and to argue those opinions. You have two semi-short essays and one longer final essay (8-10 pages), but don't let that scare you because the essay topics are super interesting to write about! Hillman's class was one of my faves!

The class was a lot of work sometimes, but totally worth it. Don't do your essays last minute; take advantage of lab days and get feedback. Readings were always interesting and connected to eachother. As long as you put in the effort, you can get the grade you want. Just dont be absent from class or use your phone in class; it affects your grade.

There's a lot of work in this class, but her teaching skills make the class very interesting to learn. She is very funny and isn't afraid to express her opinions about something. She also gives great feedback on your essays and lets you revise it. If you don't slack off and get things done in a timely manner, you'll do great in the class.

This class is a lot of work, but all the topics are super interesting. She gives you plenty of time to write papers and splits them up into sections making it much easier. Miss Hillman is honestly one of the best instructors @Highline. 3 big papers, one novel, no final, EC opportunities, participation points count, & another book was only used once. I don't recommend buying it. Everything's due on Canvas, allows paper redos for higher grade, and grades fairly easy. Prepare to get picked on during class discussions ;)

Amazing teacher!! Yeah you have to work for your grade, but she gives you lot of extra credit! Just do them all, so even if your grade starts going down, extra credits will bring them right up! Her lectures are so good! You'll definitely end up learning something! The book we read was pretty good, and she went over it too! Totally Recommended!

The Divine Ms. H. is just that: divine. She's super cool and understanding, and you'll learn a lot in her class. You'll have to participate a lot, but it's not too bad. She answers questions and you can go to her office for help.

Ms H is amazing. I was also in her 101 class, and I have recommended her to all of my friends who ask me for teacher recommendations. She is so freaking funny, and gives multiple chances for extra credit throughout the quarter. Do not skip class though, because your grade will lower drastically. Easy class, but you have to work for it. She's flexible on grading and allows revision to bump up your grade for the big papers. HW is assigned day-to-day so you never know to do it in advance. Interesting topics, many extra cred., takes attendance, provides plenty of help! Ty Ms. Hillman for a great & fun quarter! Gattaca was my favorite part :)

Ms. Hillman is a super chill laid-back professor. Attendance is graded so show up to class and participate EVERY day. Assignments are very detailed and easy to understand. She gives good feedback your work, and on essays, those can be revised afterwards for a better grade. There's also tons of extra credit. Take this class! Very fun, and easy 4.0

Definitely make sure you are in class and also do the assignments. But she is overall one of the best teachers i have ever had. Ms. H was amazing! I took her class for the first time and it was super enjoyable and fun but also educational. There were quizzes but they were open book, participation does count, the textbook was actually a good read and affordable and the final wasn't even a paper. I would definitely recommend her class!

Ms. H is the best writing instructor I've had. Although we did a lot of writing and reading, the class is never boring. We did fun things such as watching a movie and a fun activity at the end of the quarter. Best of all, the course is an easy A. Only requirement is coming to class on time and taking advantage of extra credits!

I haven't seen so much passion from any person I have met or worked with before. I'm speaking from the perspective of a veteran who served in the military for 20 years. She teaches with a heart filled with so much compassion. She inspires and helps you find your true belonging. Very easy going but firm. She is the one! We need more of her!

She is amazing. The class is about vulnerability and superhero's. Watched several films and wrote several reflection papers on self and films. Honestly this class was life-changing. More than just your average college class. Braving The Wilderness by Brene Brown is the textbook and theme throughout. Writing Center (Bldg 25, 6th floor) for help!

I took Hillman's class fall quarter of 2019. When I tell you, I was so blessed to have her as my first college professor. She advocates for POC, Minorities, and many other groups. I'm also a running start student and she was very supportive so I really recommend those who are in running start to take her class.

Ms. Hillman was honestly such a great instructor (she has a 5.0 here for a reason!). She made me excited to show up to class every day and didn't disappoint once :) She gives lots of chances for extra credit (utilize these!) and she gives great feedback on essays. One of my favorite teachers I've had at Highline. She gives us the options to write about our own topics (within a larger theme). She makes it clear what you can do to get a good grade, and gives opportunities to make up lost points. My class she taught the latter half of the quarter, so we didnt use a textbook. I think she uses it most classes.

Ms. H is great! She's incredibly kind, honest, and cares about her students. The class itself was fun. She gave us the chance to write in many different styles (poetry, fiction, nonfiction) and doing the writing didn't feel like an assignment. I definitely recommend taking her class.

The first time I had class she was every enthusiastic and when over the work for the week. The first 6 weeks the modules had a lot of reading and work, but after that it you writing your essay. She will help you think your work and will give pretty good feedback and lets you resubmit a couple of times.

She's amazing and fun! You can really tell that she's passionate about her work. She responds fast and gives great feedback.

She is constantly willing to help her students. Furthermore, each section includes some examples to help us understand them more thoroughly and easily. If we have any question, we can make an appointment and she will help to find out what we miss. Also, extra credit to encourage us to ask for assistance.

I took English 102. This class is pretty light work, but there is a 12-20 page paper at the end that you will be working on since the first day of class. Unlike me, I would highly advise to start early!!! But definitely would recommend this course and Mrs. H!

The class isn't taught as I thought about Engl102, an essay for 20 pages but that what everyone would require in a research class. She gives feedback every time you submit the paper. What I love about that course that it's allowed to resubmit for a better grade. Moreover, the best thing that she gives an extra 24 hours to submit without penalty.

Miss H was Amazing if your looking at any other ELA teachers your simply mistaken besides M.r white. This course had me untreated the whole time the teacher was so so caring and her criteria was amazing. You would pick your own research topic and go from there.

I took her summer quarter so it went by rather quickly, but Professor H is very organized and lays everything out in the syllabus. She also is very understanding, allows you to resubmit assignments if a low grade was given. She responds to emails very quickly as well.

MS. H was kind and helpful. She gives grace with late work and set you up nicely for the final. If you follow the directions and rubric you will do just fine. For those of you who work full time glance at assignments at the beginning of the week. I was caught off guard by one that required me to take action during normal business hours.

This teacher did have some heavy and long assignments. Though they all were used as lego blocks building onto your paper. Almost instant reply to questions and very helpful. Provided more than enough resources for all work as well!

easy to get a good grade

I took Ms. Hillman's course during summer quarter so we had less time to crunch in a lot of work but she is always willing and available to help! Being an online course there were no zoom meetings but participation is mandatory because there are quite a bit of assignments to complete. I loved the energy she provided.

A pretty easy class as long as you're able to stay on top of the weekly assignments. You work on 1 paper or powerpoint (You chose) the whole quarter so it's not alot of papers throughout the quarter. I took her for ENGL102

Professor Hillman was very clear on what was expected for the class but she was very nice and was available if you needed help. She emphasized asking for help if needed and she provides great feedback when she grades. She's not a boring professor and seems like she understands her students so she's more caring as long as you communicate with her.

This was the first time I took Ms. Hillman's course. She is such a caring teacher. I felt so supported by her. Her expectations are very clear in each of her assignments. As long as you put in the effort and allocate time for her class you should do well.

I took Eng102 with Ms. H for summer quarter! The coursework revolved around one conglomerate "final project" where you can choose between a 10 min presentation or a 12-20 page essay. There's a handful of quizzes and weekly assignments/readings that you'll be required to do as well. For those minor assignments, you often have redo chances if needed.

Ms. H is great! She was extremely helpful, very available when needed. There's a lot of work in the class, and you need to stay on top of it all, but the class is very clearly laid out for you to succeed.

Honestly, Ms.H is one of the best instructors I've ever had! Do the work and you will pass with flying colors. Every assignment has a rubric which if you follow will get you the points. Assignment load never felt unbearably heavy and she really does care about your learning!

I would like to say that the teacher is very great! Material were helpful. I took the class in summer and periods of the quarter got short. Despite that, must be prepared for her class due to the amount of work.

10/10 professor. She is cares for her students and wants you to succeed. Work load is about average, doesn't set you up to fail. Do the work and you shall do well. There honestly isn't a way for you to fail or get a poor grade unless you put in zero effort. Do the work and you're golden. She's amazing, take her for every and any class.

She truly cares about every student and their success and most importantly she recognizes each student is human, and as long as you communicate she is very accommodating when needed!

Ms. Hillman is a very kind, caring instructor. It may seem like there is a lot of work in her class but if you stay on top of it and not fall behind the class if very manageable. There were some parts that I WAS confused about and STILL am, but they can be easily clarified if you ask. I took this class online. Its was a really great class just had to do your work and turn it in on time. Ms Hillmans is helpful teacher give examples on writing pieces and gives good feedback on homework on what you need to work on, it help me grow in my writing skills. I took Ms. Hillman's ENG&101 for Fall Quarter and ENG&102 class for Winter Quarter. Ms. Hillman is very patient, respectful, and kind. If you need help, she is happy to help! She also gives good feedback and provides samples of other students' projects to help give you an idea. She is inspirational and that helped me greatly, even when I overthink!

Awesome teacher, very fun and caring. She wants students to succeed, and is very lenient with assignments and grades. Such a nice person!

Professor Hillman was one of the best English teachers I had. She was so extremely kind and gave excellent feedback. There are lots of assignments but all those assignments are to help us in our Final paper. I recommend everyone to take English 102 with her as the teacher!

I took her for English 200, and I am sure glad I took her again for English 102. The workload makes sense, there isn't too much work besides the final project, over the course, it's really just getting prepared for the final. Also has a 24 hour grace period for assignments as well. Definitely take her if you are going to take an English class!

Ms. Hillman was a great professor. I would take her again. Her criteria was very clear and grading was super fair. You have a final project due at the end of the semester but she prepares you for it from the beginning of the class. Overall I had a good time in this class.

Ms.Hillman is an excellent processor, she is very detailed on when assignments are due and provides lots of videos and examples of the assigned work. She will only answer to email messages and not canvas! She offers great support for all assignments although I do wish she would have set up more individual parts leading up towards the final.

I took this class as an online course for the Winter quarter in 2022. I really enjoyed taking this class simply because Ms. Hillman was helpful in giving useful and supportive feedback for the work I've done. Her work isn't too hard as long as you just put time into it and learn to understand the work being given through each course week module.

Ms. H is one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is dedicated to help all of her students. All the assignments she gives are very easy and she is always ready to help whenever! She has such a positive attitude and is so easy to talk too. Shes the best! I recommend you all take her!!

I really liked Ms.H, despite the class being online, she was very kind and funny in the videos she left for us and the work is not hard as long as you just keep up with it. One thing I did appreciate was her leaving the estimated time it would take to complete a module, it helped with my time management. The little things matter. she was great!

Rhiannon Hillman, Is a great teacher that cares about the student and understands that there is other stuff we have to do than taking this class. I would recommend taking any class that M.s Hillman teaches because she is very nice and understanding of students.

Ms. H's ENGL102 course is overall easy. Almost all the assignments are prep for the final project at the end of the quarter, so it doesn't feel like you're rushed or anything. Ms. H is super approachable and provides helpful feedback.

Professor Hillman's class is very easy. Just do all the requirements for each assignments and you'll do well. She also offers feedback on all assignments, and even lets you do redos to get a better grade.

I recommend anyone thinking of taking an English course with Ms. H's ENGL102. She has straightforward homework that isn't complicated at all. Each assignment helps you build up your final project. But don't worry she provides a lot of extra credit throughout the course and even in the final project.

Great teacher, I had some troubles understanding some content. When it comes to final projects she wont accept late work, however in minor assignments she typically allows them to get turned in later but with a 10% deduction each day.

Professor Hillman is such a genuine person. She truly cares for her students wellbeing and is open to talking outside of class even in regards to non class subjects. At the end of the course we had to turn in a 12-20 page paper, although this may sound intimidating we worked on it throughout the quarter. Also there was no final.

Ms. H cares about what she does. She tries her best to make sure you understand the work she is giving you, even from fully online classes. Although there was a lot of work, it didn't feel too overwhelming because she gave us the materials needed to succeed.

Ms.H is such a good professor, probably my favorite one that I've ever had. She is so understanding and really makes sure that you are aware of what you are doing. She also gives out extra credit!!!!

Great teacher, would take this class again!

I was nervous upon taking this class, but Ms.H made the class so much easier and made sure we always received the help we needed. So far classwork wasn't heavy, but expect to write a heavy amount of research for the final paper. Overall, I'd highly recommend this class.

Mrs. Hillman is a professor I would like to have again and you can tell she really cared about her students. As long as you stay on top of your assignments you will do good in this class. Another thing I loved about her is she answers her emails fast!

I took her for English 102 in person and she's one of the best professors I've ever taken in my 18 years of school. Helps you out when you're down and she knows you can get a better grade so she always is willing to help push you to get that top grade in her class. The best motivator for being a teacher.

Ms.H is a really good professor. She will give chance to fix lower grafe homework and meeting with her helps a lot for final project. Just start early on your final project , everything will be easy for you. It is just tired because we need to write a lot but she gives a lot of extra credit for early submission of final project.

I enjoyed learning about college composition from Ms. Hillman. The learning modules are organized, and expectations are clear. Also, the weekly announcements definitely helped with keeping on track. But overall I would for sure recommend taking a class with Ms. H!

This professor is very responsive and caring to her students. She gives great feedback on how a student can improve on their work. She also gives the students all the information they need to do the assignment to the best of their abilities.

There are a lot of assignments due each week but most of them are quizzes that help you understand the course content for the week and do well on the major assignments.

You are expected to be able to manage your time well as you are able to start working on your final project at the midway point of the quarter.

I loved taking her class. The workload may seem like a lot, but it took me 30mins-1hr max. I had other classes + a job and it was easy to fit the work into my schedule. The quizzes are unlimited retakes, you are basically guaranteed an A. You work on your final throughout the course, however, it does take some time to write so be prepared.

Overall a great professor, we did some small work over the quarter and it all was leading to our final and the only project from this class. The research project is either a 12-20 pages essay or a 12 slides power point with a video presentation.

Ms. Hillman was very helpful and cares about all of her students. Some assignments definitely take longer than others but it's all helpful regardless. Most important thing is the final project at the end of the quarter which is worth 215 points.

Mrs. H is probably the best English professor I've had at this college. I took her online English 102 class and while there was definitely a lot of work and reading involved, she never made it difficult. She provides students with plentiful resources to succeed and gives excellent, thorough feedback. She is always willing to help wherever needed.

Ms. Hillman was the best professor. She always gave me good ideas for my topic to do the Final Project and took the time to meet with her students in person and on Zoom to answer all their questions. After the sessions, she usually asked if everyone had questions about anything, and it also made me feel comfortable and cared for.

Although I did not receive the grade I was hoping for, I can not blame Ms. H for her way of teaching. This class is straight to the point if you do all the work on time and do not procrastinate. She grades tough but also gives great feedback on improving your work and gives extra opportunities to improve your grade.

I love Ms. Hillman! She still managed to build relationships with students even though it was an online class. In our one-one meeting, she helped me organize my essay, which helped lower my stress because, at first, I was freaking out about writing a 12+ page essay. She also gives good feedback and will further elaborate on it if you email her.

Ms. Hilman is the best teacher I've had at Highline. She's super enthusiastic, really cares about her students, and is very understanding. Her weekly assignments were easily accessible and actually useful.

Ms. Rhiannon is a really good teacher and will help you when you reach out to her she answers pretty quickly to her emails and she makes things a lot clearer just make sure you are specific on what you need help with follow her instructions watch her videos and look at the student sample she provides for most of her assignments she grades tough.

All assignments led to one big essay or narrated PowerPoint presentation. Get ready to do a lot of research on your topic! Overall a good teacher. Had to get together with a Highline librarian for one of the projects in order to get full credit.

teaching style is great

This class is a lot of work. However, Ms.Hillman is really really forgiving when it comes to late work. If you email her she will give you an extension and is very quick to respond to emails. She is very good at updating us and is a very nice professor overall. But you shouldn't procrastinate in this class, like I said its a lot of work.

For those who need an English class, I recommend taking Ms. Hillman's class! This class was going to be around difficulty 4-5 if Ms. H was not the instructor teaching it. Her instructions are crystal clear and her grading criteria are easy and honest. Also, most late work in this class is accepted in exchange for a couple of lost points.

She helps so much and is so nice. She makes the class easy and always tells us to ask if we need help. Replies to emails quick and has a 2 day grace period for every assignment. I sprained my ankle and she let me do assignments later and she even offered me her crutches and cast. I like her a lot and is a must take teacher for 101 and 102.

There are two sections for assignments, major and minor assignments. She allows a 2 day grade period after the due date and has an extra credit opportunity at the end of the quarter. Workload can be a lot especially at the beginning but make sure to stay on top of things and ask questions when you need help.

Prof Hillman is a really good professor. I really do want you all to take her class. She gives good feedback and is flexible with you if you tell her what is going on. She is an amazing professor and I would take her class again for another quarter and that she is super caring about you. She has expectations on assignments but it's clear on start.

Ms. H is a wonderful teacher, she made an English class fun. She lets you use so many cool sources and encourages the use of AI for projects. She offers easy extra credit options that can bump your grade up! I recommend taking her class in person because she wants you to be there and try. This class did take hard work, effort,& participation.

Her class was nice, the entire time you were preparing for your final paper by sources and looking at examples. The rough draft springed on me but as long as you don't do it last second like me you will be fine. Don't overwork yourself in one day but do a paragraph/subheading a day. Don't procrastinate, I wrote 15 pages in 2 days and it was hell.

She is the sweetest professor I have ever had! She cares so much for her students and is very clear with all of the grading. For my class, assignments were due every Sunday night, however, she gives you 48-hour grace periods to have extra time to turn them in. She doesn't expect perfection but she expects improvement!

If you are looking for an online English class take her! Ms. H was so kind. Her class is easy but informative and rewarding. JUST DON'T PROCRASTINATE. Take it from me, a known procrastinator. Most assignments are due on Sundays so even if you're busy during the week you can finish!

I have taken a break from college a long time and Ms. H was one of the first professors I had. I was so blessed to have her. She shared her own personal story & struggles as a college student, and it was inspirational, if she can do it, then I can do it. Class engaging & enjoyable. Decent amount of work, but it wasn't where I couldn't handle it.
