She's a new teacher, but she's amazing. She is VERY involved with her students, meaning she will spend time and give care for anyone who needs help. She is happy and jolly everyday, and she is extremely understandable. The nicest person out there. She is a fair grader, and pretty much becomes your friend during the semester. Guaranteed A!

A helpful and fair teacher who offered extra credit and a grading scale that can change in your favor. Had her during an election year so political preferences definitely led to some arguments in an argumentative English class, but preferences aside she does her best to relate the material to everyday life.

Some of the material can become boring and repetitive, but overall you learn a lot. She's slightly difficult grader, but pushes you the extra distance. I'd recommend the class

shes honestly the sweetest lady ever. u just have to buy one of the books and u can borrow the second from the library. shes so helpful and sweet. there are tests and essays but she gives you everything thats going to be on them. if u need any kind of aid, shes always there to help u out. shes very dedicated to her job and i love that..take her!

College level professor. She isnt easy, but college isn't supposed to be easy. You defiantly will grow as a writer. You will read a lot of great literature in this class. Attendance and participation is a must. Buying the book is not, most of the readings are online. If they aren't the library lets you photocopy the book! Recommend this class 100%

Fabulous professor! Do the assignments and come ready to class in order to take a quiz. ATTEND THE DISCUSSIONS cause you get extra point. My suggestion is that don't miss any class attend all class sessions!

Prof. Rhona Blaker is by far one of the best professors I have ever encountered. I am taking her for Spring 2011, and did not regret it one bit! She loves to see her students excel, and makes sure to help everyone out as much as possible. I wish I can take her every semester, she inspired me on my path towards my English degree.

Prof. Blaker is DEE best professor. There are A LOT of readings from the text and handouts. Some are interesting, some are not. But this is a college class. You cannot choose whatever you like. You have to read and do work. I highly recommend her. I visited her at the office hours and she always helped me very kindly and professionally. GREAT PROF!

I was shooting for an A ended up with a B. I still think I should have got an A. Shes not hard, only 1 textbook req & that's the Big Sleep cost $10. Attendance is mandatory, 3 strikes your out rule. Shes an easy grader and her quizzes/test are pretty easy just read the material. No cell phone in class, don't be scared it's just a front shes easy.

She is a very easy teacher. Just read the short stories she hands out because she will give a short quiz on them every Monday. Her final is easy if you read the book.

She is a hard-working teacher and has very nice characters. She helps students to improve their skills. If you follow her structure you will be fine. This was my first English class in college. Mrs. Blaker is very passionate about her profession and it shows in how much she cares about her students. Be prepared to do writing responses and participate in class discussions. The midterm and final exams are easy if you do all the reading. The Norton reader wasn't needed (made copies in the library)

She tries to be a tough teacher, but she's a really easy-going professor. She really helps you and makes sure all her students do the best they can.

Every student needed to do a lot of readings. She didn't assign a lot of essays, but every essay was comprehensive and should have been at least 1000 words. Everything she mentions in class will be on midterm and final.

Although there were multiple tests and essays (more than any other 101 class), I do not regret taking this course because the professor prepared me for college level courses due to the classes difficulty. I worked hard enough to ace the course but it was no easy A.

I took Professor Blaker for English 101 and 102 and wish I could take her for 104. The lectures and discussions are inspiring and all the reading is interesting. Her class isn't an easy "A", but it isn't impossible. She tries to bring out the student's maximum potential in writing and analyzing literary context. I had received a B in English 101, but an A in 104 with Ms. Blaker. That being said, she assigns numerous papers that are worth 50 points and a few essays that are worth 200. The midterm and final are extremely easy and she gives feedback on the final research paper before handing it in. Great English professor.

I took Professor Blaker for English 101 and it was hands down one of the best classes I have ever taken. As long as you do what is required to you, you will succeed. Make sure you focus a lot of your studies on the semester final and the research paper as they are weighed heavily on your overall grade.

Highly recommend for English 101. Not an easy A and a lot of works to do, but it is pretty doable if you try. Visiting her during her office hour will improve your grade a lot. shes super particular about tardiness. she actually gives you feedback you can actually use. Shes also very knowledgeable on other subjects and shes engaging and great to listen to. she will make you read alot and gives easy quizzes on the reading at the beginning of class.. she gives enough assignments that one bad grade wont screw you over.

This class was pretty straightforward and easy. There are written quizzes based on readings. Her lectures are important!! I took this class over summer, so over a 5 week period and had 3 papers- all given 1wk to write. I received B's on all of my papers with the exact same grade and her grading is not bad at all and gives clear instructions.

She isn't the best but she is not the worst. Her class is not really difficult if you are ready to work. She is a tough grader but is always accessible outside of class. If you do your paper based on her feedback, you will get an A. The most important paper was research paper worth 3 times more than other essays. TAKE ADVANTAGE OF HER OFFICE HOURS

It's very easy to do well in this class if you use the sources available to you. She wants to see everyone succeed and gives so many opportunities to earn points in class; as well as extra credit.

Online experience. Hilarious professor, extremely knowledgeable and resourceful. Her feedback has greatly improved my writing and analysis skills. Definitely my favorite class, socially and educationally. Lectures, Lesson Plans, and assignments were very clear, well-organized, and balanced. Excellent discussions.

You do have to read a lot, but it is an English so thats not a huge surprise. I really enjoyed this class and as long as you do the readings and participate it will be easy. She also cares that you just try, she's not looking for perfection just that you try!

By far the best English professor at GCC. She is not at all heavy on the homework assignments, just do your reading. She teaches a contextualized learning class meaning that she always makes sure we're in check. Professor Blaker must be protected at all costs, I wish more professors were like her.
