I took the online course... much easier than the in-class.
She was a really great teacher. I learned a ton and she made the lectures really fun to listen to. However, I had to study a lot.
GREAT teacher!! Easy class if you study! All you need to buy for her class is the lecture packet and the lab manul. Test were pretty easy if you study ONLY her lecture notes!I got an easy A!
My lab grade was the only thing that kept me from failing. Was really hard to stay focused the entire lecture, which dragged on. Cool lady though
She is a Great professor. use office hours wisely. Anatomy isn't an easy subject, alot of memorization and studying.
She only uses tests grades so no homework. The lecture exams are pretty difficult and you have to work hard if you want a good grade. She knows the information well. Notes are fill in the blank.
Good teacher! Really funny! Class is a little difficult but go over notes before tests and you will be alright
Great teacher, but the class is extremely difficult
Dr. Boros is by far one of my favorite professors at Tech. She is very funny and knows the information very well. Her stories in class help you remember the information. Notes are fill-in-the-blank. 4 lecture exams, 3 lab exams. Study your notes and you will do well!
WORST teacher I've ever had at TTU. She's so rude via email for NO REASON. She's got this horrible way of putting people off & making herself feel better by being so "superior." I don't understand why she is so mean. She's definitely NOT helpful in any way. You can study for hrs & her test questions are just awful. You don't even use the textbook!
Any time id ask for help, she'd shoot me down with a snide comment, and refer me to my lecture packet. She is notorious for making her tests hard, textbook is not required, but take advantage of the SI Sessions, and anyone willing to tutor you, you'll need all the help you can get. Oh, and try to stay awake in that class, its hard.
I took this course online and the course overall was great however Boros never replied to emails, grades were never updated NOR we're any ever posted. I am currently STILL waiting for my grade to be posted on Raiderlink along with the rest of the class. Grades were due this morning at noon. It's currently 2:40 with still no grades.
Difficult course but interesting. Dr Boros is the best professor for the course. She explains the material very well and makes the course interesting and fun. exams are hard but if you cover the lecture note well its easy I didn’t use my text book at all. I highly recommend this course with Dr Boros she is smart lady. One of my favorite professor
VERY hard class.
Amazing teacher, knows what she's talking about. Lecture exams are hard but if you study you'll be alright. Class not mandatory, honestly I only went 5 times the whole semester and used online resources to study and did just fine. Labs are good and TAs/UTAs always willing to help out. Definitely recommended, but only if you're willing to work
She makes class interesting, & funny at times. But she takes forever to grade exams even though they are all multiple choice! Her lecture exams are not that easy but if you review her notes you shall do good. I didn't ever buy the textbook it was never needed. The lab practicals really boosted my grade, you must learn how to spell every body part!
I think she is a great prof! She is very smart. Alot of ppl may have been a little scared of her but she's really cool. Her class is not easy. You have to put in alot of time and work. Go to class, sit in front, pay attention, & GET THE NOTES PACKET. Everything you need is in the notes packet which you fill in the answers from the lectures. G'Luck!
Dr. Boros is a great prof, and her class isn't hard if you study. For the practicals just go over the facebook page a ton and for her lecture test memorize everything in the notes . If you actually study it's not a hard class.
She is one great teacher, and she is very intelligent. The only thing I had trouble with was paying attention because she is very distracting.
This class was amazing! Have to work very hard and put in so much time but if you are going into any field human science field the information is very useful. There are 3 lecture exams plus a final& 3 lab practicals total. If you memorize AND understand everything in the lecture notes you can make an A. For the lab practical take pictures& study!!!
This course was difficult. I've never made anything below a B until I took this course. I went to meet with Dr. Boros after I didn't do well on the first lecture exam and she told me to go ahead and plan on retaking the course! She was not helpful and didn't respond to emails. She reads straight off the notes packet, I learned more on my own.
Lecture tests and lab practicals are tough, but if you really study and memorize everything you will do more than fine. I made a high A in the class by putting in the effort. Dr. Boros takes a long time grading exams and putting up assignments (if it ever happens at all). I would also advise never going to her office hours.
If you can take this class online, I HIGHLY recommend it. All the answers to the quizzes are on quizlet and I used PALS for the lab practicals. It's the easiest class I've ever taken. Don't waste your money on the textbook. I never even touched mine.
The lecture tests are hard, study your lecture notes packet over and over. Practical's are what save your grade so make sure you do well in lab. While her grading is tough it is fair. She is a great professor which makes the lectures enjoyable.
One of the best professors at Texas Tech. You have to study and attend class but she is a great lecturer.
The lectures are all done in a lecture packet so you dont have to write them on your own. Her class was my favorite! The exams are straight from the lecture packet, literally. How much easier could it get?! Just study and memorize and don't stress about it and it's an easy A. For lab get Juan pablo, nicest and easiest lab instructor you could have!
Anatomy is a very tough course but Dr. Boros was a great professor. She made everything easy to understand. To make good grades on the exams you have to study but she is very helpful in letting you know what you need to study and what you need to work on. If you must take Anatomy she's great!
Took this class in person twice and failed, worked my tail off both times. She was very helpful but very tough. Took it online with her and made a 98. So much easier, the Mastering exams are easier, take online if you can.
I absolutely loved Dr. Boros' class. It was tough, but that's expected of an Anatomy class. She was pretty clear in lectures what was important for you to study and how to study it for the best results which was super helpful. Attendance isn't mandatory but she is a great professor and super funny I found her lectures enjoyable and never missed.
Her lectures seem to take forever, she's not very engaging. Her test are straight from the notes however, it's literally straight memorization. I remember having write out every word constantly, in order to be somewhat prepared for her test. I'd recommend taking it online if you can however, you might not learn as much, but it is an easy A.
Lecture exams are HARD, I don't know many people who got A's. We studied for days, and struggled to pass the lecture exams. The lab practicals are straight memorization, so fairly easy if you're good at that. Make sure you go to class, and have a really good lecture packet from the previous years (it will definitely help) as well as your own.
If you want to do well in this class, you have to be willing to study. She gives you all the material in the tests, but you have to know ALL the material. Study early and study everything. Go in after each test so you can see your mistakes and so she will learn your face. It's a tough class, but an A is possible if you put the work in.
This class was pretty easy as long as you show up and review the notes. People have already made flashcards on quizlet so two days before the exam if you just review them you'll get an A. The only bad thing is she takes a very long time to grade the exams. Overall she was a pretty good professor.
I worked my butt of for an A. It is possible but you have to study a lot. If you are a flashcard person I recommend making flash cards for each slide. Go through those a week in advance and you should do well on the test.
She's a really awesome professor you will learn a lot if you go to the classes. Be sure to study a lot on you're own, flash cards and sticky notes will be your best friends. And if you need help, definitely go to her office hours, she doesn't ever check her emails. (I learned the hard way). I would also recommend taking this course sophomore year.
I didn't struggle in this class at all so don't let it scare you. If you're bright and good at learning things on your own this class will not be hard at all. 100% of the test is from the notes we took in class so you absolutely have to go.
This class is so hard. You have to go and take notes and MEET WITH HER! She will help you a lot if you go to her office and review your tests and ask for help. Lab is super great, Juan Pablo is the best TA for lab! If you don't study for hours you won't pass. Put in the amount of effort and you will be happy with the outcome. Get ready to work!!
Extremely hard class but definitely doable. She gives you everything you need to know in order to succeed on exams, all you have to do is pay attention in class and study. If you have questions going up to her at the end of class or going to her office are the best ways to ask her and talk with her. Very helpful and wants her students to do well.
Nice but she likes to throw in questions on the test that she didn't go over in class.
This class kicked my butt. I'm an honors student, went to every class, studied my butt off, and failed all of her tests. My only saving grace was my lab grade. Seriously, this class will kick your butt. Also, she doesn't curve. DO NOT buy her $300, it is NOT worth it. if you feel like you need one, buy any anatomy book online, they're all the same
She is a tough professor, but very fair. Her lectures can be boring, but attending class helps to retain the material a lot more than trying to learn it yourself. The homework is on McGraw Hill and go with the tests very well. The tests are challenging, but the homework is very similar to the tests. She does use the book. If you try you will pass!
She tests on specific detail, and her tests are in depth. I underestimated this course at the beginning, and I had to learn the hard way. Make sure to study super hard for her exams and make sure that you fully understand the material and that you aren't just memorizing her material.
The Lecture tests are very difficult but weighted almost equal to the practicals, if you get high As on the practical exams (very doable) then you have room to get lower grades on the tests and still get an A. Attendance is not mandatory but go to class, you will score noticeably higher on the lecture tests.
Even though attendance isn't mandatory I would highly suggest going because sometimes she give you hints on what to study heavily on. You actually have to learn what she teaches you because she tests over the big picture. If you ace all your practicals and make Bs on the lecture exams you can still pull out an A in the class.
She was very funny at first. Lectures are important for the tests, tests are super in depth. Study, Study, Study. You need to study for lab practicals and the tests. This class was very time consuming, would not take unless you absolutely have to. If you do take it, get ready to spend a lot of time on this certain class. Good luck.
Go to class. Take notes. Study notes. No need for study groups, flashcards or tutor. The lecture notes are the answers to the exam.
Hard class, if you don't study for both lab and lecture you won't do well. Takes forever to get grades back. The good thing is that if you do good in lab but bad in lecture or other way around you will be fine.
Dr. Boros is a great professor. Don't skip lecture, her exams are her lectures! She is very straightforward and organized. She really explains the material well. If you care about her class, she cares about you.
Dr. Boros has is one of my favorite professors at Texas Tech. I will admit this class is extremely difficult but not impossible to get an A in if you are willing to put in the work and study hours. If you do great in lab it will really help balance the lecture exam grades which are the hardest part. She's a little intimidating but actuallyvery nice
If you write down everything she says in lecture, and study your notes, you'll do well. It's just a lot of studying.
Just wanted to get through-Online was the way to go. I never used the book. There is a Practice Anatomy Lab (PAL) that helped with the lab quizzes/tests. She gives term sheets and I took pics of them in PAL. The videos she posts help too. For the lecture - google is your best friend. Be prepared to wait a long time if you email her (up to a month).
I really didnt mind taking this class. Honestly, she gives everything needed to succeed in her tests. Study & know the material and the class isnt bad at all. She asks detailed questions but knowing the lecture material makes it easy to get the answer. DONT BUY THE TEXTBOOK.
Lectures are interesting but if you arent ready to study your life away dont take this class... I finished with an A but it wasnt easy.
Dr. Boros really knows her stuff and makes her lectures pretty enjoyable with some humor. You better be ready to study though, there are 4 tests and 3 practicals (Lab test identifying parts of the body) and thats it. I dropped the bomb early and have been playing catch up since. average test is like 60% for the class and all spelling counts.
She is a lively professor who is very knowledgeable about anatomy!
This was the hardest course I have ever taken. I make countless amounts of flashcards and quizlets and still did not excel on lecture exams, so make practicals your best friend. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you want to succeed I would strongly suggest attending every lecture. Boro's is an amazing teacher and the class was worth it.
Personally, I LOVED Dr. Boros. Her lectures were interesting and easy to follow, though I would NOT recommend skipping. The exams are a clear reflection of what she says in class, and she holds you accountable for knowing almost everything. An A is attainable, but be prepared to study your butt off!
I strongly suggest making your notes your own. For example, I made study packets for EVERY BODY SYSTEM and this (along with studying for the practicals for a week straight) is what helped me go from a D to a B. AIso, I would go see Dr. Boros during her office hours, just to introduce yourself and to ask her opinion on how to succeed in her class.
GO TO CLASS!Attendance isn't mandatory, but you pretty much gotta know everything she says in lecture! Practicals are your BEST friend. I excelled in the practicals by going to office hours every week to study on the models what I learned in lab, and I didn't study much for that practical, meaning I could focus on my lecture test the next week.
If you take her class, do not underestimate the importance of attendance and take advantage of the SI sessions. 90% of your grade is based on lecture tests and lab practicals. The spelling on practicals count, and is the reason many failed the course. Take the time to show up to class and STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
Dr. Boros is very knowledgable on what she is talking about. Tests can be hard. STUDY THE LECTURE NOTES. I would study about 6 hours a day for 3 days leading up to tests. You get out of this class what you put it. Content is not hard - it is just a lot. You either know it or you don't. She did give extra credit on the last test which was nice!
(I took her class with several other difficult courses) The lab ta's are not all equally grading students. Some ta's will tell students what will be on their practical while others grade much harder. All you do in class is fill in missing blanks on slides. The tests are very difficult. And the practice exams are not always accurate (student made)
Dr. Boros is a great teacher and really knows what she's talking about. I took her course over the Summer and it was the most difficult class I've taken in college. It goes very fast and she doesn't have time to properly explain everything. I would not suggest taking this course over the summer.
Dr. Boros is a great teacher but her class is challenging her lecture exams are pretty hard and practicals are hard on spelling but her class is fun and informative I would say if I knew beforehand I would have taken it online for the easy A though you have to work for her A. You need to go to class to get the notes do not skip you will fail!!!
If you are going down medical path this is a make or break you type of class. I came in wanting to go into the medical field, not anymore! She was not a great lecturer. Very rude if you did not do something her way and made everything more difficult than it had to be. Attendance is not mandatory but if you don't go well good luck Charlie.
I think Dr. Boros is awesome anyone who talks about how hard this class is must of never taken a cell bio class with Dr. Conlie. I was UTA for this class as well.
Mind you guys I'm taking this class online because of COVID, so I was not able to do in-person things such as labs or dissections because of the pandemic. Boros is very particular about the way she wants things done and is rude when you reach out; tough grader too. This course is extremely hard with lots of specific information; don't take it.
I'm taking this class currently during the 2020 COVID pandemic. Anatomy is very important for pre-nursing (obviously) but this class made me doubt my ability... It's definitely one that will weed out those that are on the medical path but not completely sure if that's what you want to do. The online is helpful though if you're like me and have a LD
Beware of this professor. I wasnt doing well in lecture and went for tutorials (AKA I was trying to improve) stead of helping she told me "youll never make it in healthcare w/ your grades".. thanks dr boros, im now an RN :) shes super tough && heartless, take AP in comm college instead. Best of luck!!!
Dr. Boros is a decent teacher overall, but she could be better. She hands out lecture note packets that i recommend to get for 14$ cause the tests are based off the notes. The practicals in lab are pretty tough too. I studied three days before each practical/test and still it wasnt enough. You have to prepare at least a week in advance.
Amazing professor, you can tell she cares a lot about the topics making the class more interesting and easy to pay attention to. Make sure you get all the notes because she tests over every detail in the packets.
Boros class was very difficult, but I LOVED it! Don't get me wrong, the tests were very hard, but I learned so much in lectures. She teaches you so much and is a very smart woman. I would take this class all over again because of the knowledge I obtained. She prepares her students for the real world. WONDERFUL TEACHER!
Take this class online if you can. I did not pass any lecture exams and studied for hours a week in advance. Practicals are what somewhat saved me, but you HAVE to study a lot for them if you want a good grade, spelling matters the most. This is the hardest class i have ever taken.
Okay so here is how it goes. The lecture and lecture material is good, however it alone will maybe get you a B in the course. The amount of extra work I put in and only wound up with a C+ is... crazy. Tests are CRAZY hard, epically while missing lectures due to COVID, and the online lectures aren't as good. Also 95% of your grade is tests.
Dr Boros was fine. Besides the fact that she took 3 weeks to grade scantrons. She gave good examples in lecture but sometimes it was a little boring. The exams are difficult, but as long as you study notes, do the exam reviews, attend SI and UTA sessions you will be fine. Also, do well on practicals and your grade wont suffer.
This class requires an intense amount of studying, so beware. The lectures are not mandatory, but if you don't catch up with the notes and lessons you missed - you will fail. The tests I took gave you the chance to earn up to 10 extra credit points which saved me every time. Overall, the class is hard but I would definitely take it again.
Dr Boros is an ok professor. When talking to her she can take you as a joke for literally no reason. I had a question about my grade because they are not on blackboard nor mastering for the anatomy and physiology 1 that I had. She told me to take a math class if you cant figure it out. Test are 97% of your grade. By the grace of God I passed w/ 98.
This class I s extremely hard, and what makes it worse is that she's the only one on Texas Tech campus. The lectures are heavy and the tests aren't always straightforward
I took anatomy with her online and the lectures were from like 2013. She was not very helpful and if you emailed her you would not get a nice, helpful or even personal reply. She did not seem to care or like her job very much and would not listen to her students' problems or help them in any way. Very strict and and not very caring.
Exams in person were difficult. She posted old lecture videos online, but that was during COVID. I would recommend buying the lecture notes. Exams were over the powerpoints mostly. The A is doable but it takes a lot of studying.
There are times quizzes weekly, the lectures are from 2013, and the lab quizzes are HARD (at least for me and a few other people in this class theyre pretty tough). I havent really learned much. Everything is online and not proctored, but that doesnt even matter because the internet wouldnt help anyways.
HORRIBLE. I would not recommend taking this class unless you absolutely have to. Dr. Boros is extremely lecture and test heavy. The class in reality is not too bad, you only really need to study the lecture note packet to understand the material. However, Boros takes an extreme amount of time to put in grades, even though she has a ton of TA help.
Hardest class I have ever taken. Attendance is not mandatory, but you NEED to go. Take advantage of the practicals! The lecture notes are the entire test by the way. She takes forever to grade tests so beware. If you study the lecture notes, you'll pass. Also, be sure to go to the SI sessions and join the Zoom every week because they do help.
Dr. Boros is a great professor. You need to go to all the lectures to get the notes down. To get an A, just remember the note packets. It may seem hard, but if you really study, you will be fine. Attendance is not mandatory but is HIGHLY recommended. Overall, it was not too bad and definitely take her.
I personally feel that maybe I would of had a better experience in person with this instructor but experiencing it online I would never recommend. Online students all struggled as none of us felt that we weren't given proper materials to succeed. JUST DO THE CLASS IN PERSON
The hardest class I have ever taken. Take advantage of practicals to keep your grade up, are not easy by any means must study multiple days in advance. The lecture tests are what kill you, she is incredibly specific in her questions and is not totally straightforward. Class is doable, you must have incredible work ethic to get a good grade and pass
Very difficult class but the teacher explains the material well if you pay attention. Good luck
Boros is very passionate about what she teaches so her lecture are long and sometimes difficult to pay attention too. I have to say is that she is very very slow on putting in grades and sending out the UTA reviews for the exams! Study constantly and go to the SI sessions and youll make an A.
If you take Dr. B goodluck it is the hardest class you will take. It is all test based and she makes them very hard. TAKE IT ONLINE.
Dr. Boros gets a bad reputation because her class actually requires a little bit of effort. Her grading policies are clear and fair, and she provides a ton of extra credit. She runs an organized class, and everything is really easy to find on Blackboard. This course covers a lot of material, but taking the time to study will set you up for success.
After I failed a lecture exam, I went to her office hours to go over my test. When I got there she told me I could go over my test and seemed bothered I was there. I silently sat at a desk and read over my test while she was on her computer. I do not see how this would be helpful, she is very dismissive and doesn't care if you want to do well.
Her lectures were not efficient, though she has been teaching for years now. It is very hard to grasp what is and isn't important. I understand that it's a hard class in general, but she didn't GAF. The tests are hard and yes, it's time-consuming, but going to the lectures was the equivalent of not going.
If I ever got this professor again I would immediately drop the class. I don't have a single positive thing to say about the class to be totally honest.
Professor Boros just rambles a lot in her lectures, I did really enjoy the lab part of this section though.
Was extremely hard to learn from and majority of the class failed the exams which made up most of our grade. I studied hard for the exams with the lecture packets which were supposed to be a great study guide for the lecture exams, but they did not amount to what was on the test. Would never suggest this professor to anyone.
She often rambles and gets off-topic, which causes her to have rush through other important material (often past the end of the hour and 50 minute lectures.) The tests have a lot of trick questions, and there is no homework/quizzes, so you have to study on your own. However, there are lecture videos which go over things she rushed through.
If you're willing to spend most nights studying (friends who took in person: study 3 hrs after every lecture on top of other classes to barely get a B), then take it in person. I took it online and got an A. I still had to study ALOT but the pressure of needing to pass a single exam to pass the course wasn't there. The online syllabus is more fair.
Out of 300 people in my lecture there were only 50 people left. This is a weed out class for a reason and will show you that school is a full time job. The lab section was a lot of fun but I hated the lecture exams. I clocked from 25-40 hours studying for the exams and it was necessary. I'm happy that it's over. Stick it out till the end. Good luck
If you are wanting a professor who communicates with you, do not take this class because she states she only responds to emails from the Blackboard email option, which I did to communicate about a health issue and scare I was facing which didn't allow me to take a test during a certain time, she never responded to my email and thus my grade tanked.
This class is a real challenge, but going to lectures, using the textbook, and taking advantage of study resources like Unstuckstudy can really help. The tests are tough, but the professor provides useful feedback if you engage with her.
rambles too much in lectures so lots of on own learning
if you aren't religious you will be soon after praying you pass the test. This class has a 40% pass rate (which she mentions the first day of class) , I don't understand why she makes it difficult, the lectures suck, she doesn't care if you fail. Take the class online it has a 70% pass rate. The lab was funish, lots of memorization but can be easy
If you're not religious, go ahead and pick a religion and start praying. You know that one scene in Mean Girls where Regina starts writing in the burn book, that's how this professor will make you feel.
Honestly the people that complain the most are the people that did nothing. Boros is clear about the expectations for the class. Just watch the lecture videos over and over and you will get an A (at least I did). Lab is easy just find a quizlet. Yes the material is hard but she explains everything to know so nothing on tests is "not taught". 6/10
Not sure how you can fail this class. The material is not particularly hard, even if there is a decent amount of it. I didn't attend a single lecture, bought the lecture notes packet, and filled it out the night before all of the tests while watching lecture videos on 2x speed. She was very generous with bonus points on the final.
Honestly, I don't know why she has such horrible rating. She is not necessarily caring or understanding, but her class is not hard. The class takes work which some people may not like. Just buy the lecture packet (everything comes from it) and memorize all of it. Don't need to buy the textbook. There is extra credit. She tests on little details.
I did not like this professor whatsoever. We had a student in our class who was having a seizure and another student was trying to get Boros attention and said "Excuse me Miss Boros, he is having a seizure" and all she had to say was "It is Doctor Boros." didnt ask if the kid was okay or anything. She also brags about how 40% only pass her class.
Dr. Boros is clearly a devoted professor, but her lectures are paced very poorly and often doesn't cover all the test material during the lectures. She offers online videos of her lectures that are much more well done and to the point. 2/3 of the main exams tested on material we hadn't covered in class. Go to SI sessions if you want to succeed.
Just be warned! Practicals in the lab are not bad, but the lectures are unbearable and don't even think that you might learn anything in there lol. You will basically learn more in SI sessions than you will in lecture.
she like honestly isnt even bad, its just her lectures are poorly paced so youre often tested on material you havent covered, but after the first test i stopped going to lecture anyways and was fine. GO TO SI SESSIONS, they are so helpful and give you good packets which is honestly just what i studied for each test. would take again!!
Her lectures sucked, you are not going to learn anything from them. Tested on things she did not go over or teach. Reached out for some technology issues which I had no control over, she replied with a bunch of yapping saying she is counting off for it. Overall, just not a good professor and has little to no care.
I stopped going to her classes after a month because they were useless I didn't feel like I was learning. Instead I completely stopped talking notes and started attending SI sessions where they would actually teach the material I went to Bai's but she just recently moved I feel sorry y'all won't be able to have her she is the reason I did okay.
For our first test, she had only covered 60% of the material in lecture, and we were expected to have known the rest on our own. I, as well as many others, stopped going to lecture entirely later into the semester, as you could watch the pre-recorded lecture vids and get the information in half the time.Take all the extra credit opportunities.
Do not understand the bad reviews. Professor was great. I think if you study for an hour each day you are more than prepared for the exams. Professor gave plenty of extra credit too. I think this class is an easy A+ if you put in effort. This includes attending office hours for lab practical and the raider reviews before exams.
