Great professor, very helpfull and eager to help. Allowe's extra credit in every test.
I actually didn't take Ms. Minten at UTSA, but at Northwest Vista for History. I absolutely loved her class. I was fascinated with the information for the entire semester and I loved the way she talked about the topics. You could tell that she really is passionate about History. Take her at Vista.
She runs by her notes and skips some that end up being on the test. extra credit at the end of the tests. She has pop quizzes so class is mandatory. I've learned more with her SI than from her. A lot of the stuff I do remember from 8th grade. Not very interesting, don't really recommend her.
This class was really difficult. She goes way too fast over the power points and her lectures are not very interesting, as she doesn't say anything that isn't on the power point. Go to class because the pop quizzes are taken from the last lecture
She is a very easy professor. People that say the class is difficult is because they are lazy. There's absolutely no reason to not get a B or an A in her class. She goes way too fast over the power points, but you have them on blackboard. Go to class. Pop quizzes are given.
She goes way too fast on the powerpoints and is uninteresting. She gives pop quizzes so class is mandatory. But they are at the beginning so you can leave after. I honestly would not recommend her. DO NOT TAKE.
Very interesting and helpful to students who are serious about the class. Yes, you need to go to class to pass it. She won't give you a passing grade for merely existing. Not many professors will.
One of the coolest teachers I've taken so far. I wish I could have her for more classes but she only teaches history. Bummer. It cannot get easier than this. Read the book, do the work, easy A, and you will learn. She is very funny and makes history interesting. I always looked forward to going to class. She's just a cool teacher. Take her classes.
Easy A, I do recommend Prof. Minten. Extra credit on EVERY test, pop questions (it will boost your grade), lowest exam grade will be dropped. My caution is that she tends to throw out completely inaccurate information a LOT, so be sure to fact-check on your own (this is about side comments, not on stuff that comes up on exams).
I took her at NVC, and she is an overall fair professor. You must read every chapter, and keep a continuous log that she periodically grades throughout the semester. MAKE SURE YOU'RE IN A GOOD GROUP! If you have lazy group members you might end up pulling their weight. If you want an easy A I would suggest taking another prof.
If you like to watch youtube videos then this is a class to take. She has good discussions but most of her teaching was through youtube. She doesnt spend a lot of time on the chapters and there are reading quizes every week. You MUST read the book or you will fail. All assignments are based on the book. I would still recommend her.
Gives TONS of extra credit! Easy to recover your grade if you bomb a test. Drops a test too! All test questions are in the power points. She posts them before the test too. Easy class. Too easy. Take her, you'll get an A. Gives quizzes, but she tells you when the quiz is. Super easy.
Professor Minten is so adorable! You can tell she truly loves history, it's refreshing. She makes class interesting with videos and is hilarious! She gives TONS of extra credit so there is no excuse if you fail the class. Tests are pretty easy, study powerpoints and do the chapter guides that she posts! Quizzes /group project are easy! Recommend!
This was probably one of the easiest classes I had ever taken. As a senior I was not looking to have a difficult professor for a core class. Easy tests, does require additional texts but they were interesting to read. Uses movies in her class to relate to the material and makes the class fun. If you need this class you need to take this professor.
she's very sweet and nice. 3 test drop lowest, cumulative final, quizzes and group projects are super easy. A LOT OF EXTRA CREDIT, so do them all, and ace it. textbooks required, attendance recommended for notes taking. bring a laptop for it, she skims very fast. Got an A- with her even i got an 80 and 70 on the tests.
easiest class of my life, i took advantage of the extra credit of course, and i went to SI sessions, TAKE HER, like seriously hurry before it gets full
Best teacher I've had in years!!! She's awesome!! I loved going to her class she is really fun!
Professor Minten definitely shows her passion for history. I liked her videos and extra information that made world history even more exciting to learn. Tests are easy and although the paper projects weren't my favorite, they were doable. Definitely would take again
I had all A's this semester, and for this class especially, I read, as much as you do not want to you must, her tests consist of questions that you would only know the answers if you read, she gives power points and study guides but you should still read! she gives tonnes and tonnes of extra credit opportunity, especially towards end of semester
Prof. Minten is one of the best History professors so far! She makes me fall in love with history even more! (I'm a History w Social Studies major) Makes the subject very interesting and shows YouTube videos to make it more understanding. Offers a lot of extra credit! It is impossible to fail. Her tests are straight from the slides and the guides.
Her reviews are nothing like the test and if you don't like to write papers don't take her class.
Professor Minten is amazing! She has two writing assignments but she is not a tough grader and gives you feedback on how to improve your writing skills. Online quizzes are simple. Exams can be tricky, but highly recommend to read the book instead of doing the study guides. There is also one big project that was interesting! Loved her lectures!
Minten is the cutest thing ever! She always plays music on Pandora before class starts. I love how she shows a lot of little clips on youtube, it really helps understand what you're learning. She also gives extra credit on every exam and the final only counts for 10%. I really learned a lot with her. Take her, you won't regret it!!
She's a great professor, she's truly passionate about history. She shows a lot of videos in class to help bring the history alive. She always has extra credit opportunities available for the tests. Do each chapter quiz as you finish the chapter lecture, you'll basically get a 100 on every single one.
Professor Minten has such a wonderful class and she's very helpful. Expect a project and 4 tests. She drops the lowest exam. You will need both books at one point in the class.
I loved Professor Minten! Attendance is not mandatory but I would recommend going. Her lectures are with a powerpoint but she always goes in depth and makes it interesting. She provides many extra credit opportunities. Test can be tricky but if you study notes, review, and read the book, you'll get an A.
Obviously very passionate about her subject. Lectures are basic and to the point, and she gives a lot of additional background so topics are usually clear. Easy online quizzes are the only homework. TONS of extra credit. I would happily take that class again.
Minten is great. all her tests are basically the review she gives. What I did was take the review to class and fill it as she lectured. you do not need the book because the tests are her power points!!
TAKE HER. I CANNOT STRESS IT ENOUGH. I FAILED TWO OF HER TESTS AND STILL MANAGED TO MAKE A 93 IN HER CLASS. She's so nice and she really loves the subject that she teaches. Hurry before her class fills! Also if you read her book you'll do fine. Always study the book never the notes. Class is optional ( i skipped allot).
She is a great professor. Gives study guides on testes and gives a lot of extra credit. She is funny and knows what she is talking about. I would recommend her.
This class is pretty easy. Just study the powerpoints and pay attention to the documentaries shown in class! She gives alot of extra credit opportunities.
This class was super easy. She gave extra credit all semester and drops the lowest test and quiz grade. The hardest part was the project but you were allowed to choose the topic. She posted her power points right before exams and I studied just those and passed all her exams with high grades.
I thought Professor Minten was FANTASTIC. She always offered extra credit opportunities, her tests were based off of the study guides she posted, and her lectures pretty interesting. She's very kind. Would take her class again.
Most powerpoints online. Quizzes aren't due until last day of class.
Professor Minten knows about her history lectures. Reflections over chapters are part of your grade, so read the book! Tests are kind of hard if you do not take notes and read the textbook.
Material very straightforward and made class interesting.
My 1043 class was easier than this class, and I found that to be surprising since colonial age to civil war is boring. I took this class over the summer and she was unclear about what she wanted in her papers, no one in the class got a 100 in the test. I guess since it was a summer she wasn't that motivated to teach.
I would definitely NOT recommend her class. Her lectures are her just reading off her PowerPoint which is just an outline of the information meaning if you don't go read your chapters you won't fully understand anything. Don't ask her questions either, she never can answer anyone, saying "i don't know/remember" leaving you left with nothing.
I've always been terrible at history, but Prof. Minten made me really want to learn. She makes the material really accessible. There is less of an emphasis on dates and memorization and more emphasis on the cultural aspects of history. I intend to take her for Texas History next fall. I didn't open the book once, just paid attention in class.
Rhonda Minten is a great professor. her exams are based on lectures, and participation is mandatory (you must be on time, if you get there even a few minutes late you won't get credit). Her lectures are interesting and fairly easy to remember. She posts powerpoints of lectures and study guides for exams online. Great professor.
Took her for AIS: Social Science Concentration. Class was a waste of time but it was mandatory soooo. Group project HEAVY! Do not buy the AIS book, biggest waste of $20. Minten is a good teacher, however, I felt her frustration with the class because no one cared about it--you could feel the apathy in the air. Overall, not a bad AIS class
4 tests including an essay portion on each test. They are graded separately but together make up 60% of your final grade. Discussion boards are also 30%, not hard but crucial you complete them all with good grades if you want to make an A. Attendance is 10% but as long as your final attendance grade is 90 % or above, you'll get full credit!
AIS classes are designed to interact with fellow classmates as part of the FYE experience. Professor Minten makes you feel at home and does not stress you out as a freshman . I have learned so much and she is so sweet !! I LOVE PROFESSOR MINTEN and this class with her was so simple . Just follow her rules and direction you will get an A!!
Professor Minten is great! She is very generous with extra credit, and will drop your lowest test and essay grades at the end of the semester. She is very passionate about what she teaches and is very personable.
Professor Minten is the most heartfelt professor I have known. She absolutely loves what she teaches. She gives lots of extra credit opportunities such as going to the museum and bringing food for the food can drive. Tests are multiple choice plus an essay; she gives you essay prompts before the exam and one will be chosen, which is awesome.
Professor Minten is one of the best history professors I've ever had! Her tests are based more off the lecture powerpoints and the study guides than they are the readings! She does require attendance though so show up to class!! She offers a lot of extra credit so take advantage of it if you need it!!
Attend class and listen to lectures and read powerpoints to pass the test. The book isn't really needed, though she recommends it.
TAKE HER WITHOUT A DOUBT!! She offers so much extra credit that its unbelievable! She's also a very approachable professor and she's caring and wants her students to pass. Her assignments are very easy and clearly stated!! TAKE THIS CLASS FOR AN EASY A!! Just show up to class, pay attention and pass! super simple!!
Professor Minten is awesome! Her class was my favorite last semester. She gives lots of easy assignments that help you learn the material AND boost your over grade. She gives tons of opportunities for extra credit as well. Her tests are over the material on her lecture slides and her test reviews. Her lectures are pretty interesting too.
Be prepared to be basically taking comp 1 & 2 again. I probably wrote a total of 10-15 papers with one being an entire research paper. Requires you to do a lot of out of class assignments such as, events (with a paper due next class) and peer mentor meetings (3 total) and a TA meeting. In group projects you're also graded as whole NOT individual.
Easy A if you follow instructions and do the work. However, from day 1 she seemed really condescending and annoyed with all the students.
My suggestion? Make this class a priority. Be prepared to work INSANELY HARD in this class if you don't attend SI Sessions and to, maybe, if you're lucky, scrape by with a C. The only people who actually passed were the ones who attended the supplemental instruction sessions. Really hard class. And I have a 4.0 in all of my other classes. :(
B/c this was a 5-wk course, each assignment weighed heavily on your grade. Her policy for exams is if you come in after the 1st person has left, you can't take the test. On the final, one kid came in late & got to take it, but another didn't. Lecture heavy, dull, and no late work. Wouldn't retake Minten. But hey, food bank donations are EC.
I am for sure taking Professor Minten next semester for Texas History! Her lectures cover most parts of the quizzes so TAKE NOTES. Majority of test is study guide and her lectures are very interesting so its very easy to retain information in her class. Overall she is a fun and bubbly teacher and is dedicated to history. I highly recommend her!
Professor Minten was very nice and respectful. I recommend going to the study sessions as those helped me out tremendously. Her exams are hard, but if you study you'll do fine. I would definitely take her in U.S. History as well because I heard many good things. Reading the textbook isn't mandatory, but I recommend it because it helped me on tests.
She is a really great professor who genuinely cares for her students. The work is not hard at all, but there are quite a few group projects. If you show up and mildly participate, there's no reason you won't get an A.
Great professor! we take four tests in her texas history class and she drops the lowest test grade! so i was done with this class by the third test.
Love this lady! Very nice and passionate about history man. Dont buy none of the books!! Save money just study power points and you should be good!! Extra credit all the time too! Always come for attendance!! Finished with an A+ take this class super easy
Quite uninteresting lectures, however the quizzes are easy. The study guide is purely a guide, YOU MUST READ. Powerpoints are poorly made and require you to go to class to have context. But the class overall is EXTREMELY easy. She drops an exam & the exams only constitute 30%. Beware: Do not miss a quiz and take discussions SERIOUSLY.
She was really easy, go to class and you will pass.
Go to class, listen to her lectures, and read the book. This class is fairly easy. Great Professor, engaging and funny. Would take again.
Mrs. Minten is honestly the right choice for this class, so I really recommend taking her. Extra credits for tests which are all fairly simple; straight from the notes and lectures. The textbooks aren't mandatory, but it doesn't hurt reading them as they help. Her lectures are quite interesting but that is a matter of perspective, obviously.
Professor Minten is an amazing teacher. She really cares about her students and wants them to succeed. There are extra credit assignments that will help boost your grade. she also drops a lower grade. The tests are not too hard and they're straight out of her power points and lectures. Easy A if you go to the class and do the study guides.
This is a pretty easy class, and professor Minten keeps it fair and simple. Put in the work and you'll get an A or a minimum B, but lower than that just means no effort is being placed. Trust me that you won't regret taking this class, even though the subject may be tedious at times, it's not as bad as it may sound.
Good teacher, terribly boring lectures though. Its hard not to be though its the same history weve been learning since 2nd grade. The prof does the the bell doesnt dismiss you I dismiss you schtick typical of a grad school teacher as if we arent adults. is a core class so I recommend thanking her cause its not hard.
Textbook is not used in class but only outside to help study for tests.
Prof Minten is a really sweet lady, But the course itself is extremely test heavy. You pretty much have to be in class and fully attentive which is hard because it . can be pretty boring. It will take tons of studying to pass or get an A if you aren't in class everyday.
The way to finesse an A in this class is to read the PowerPoints and study the chapter quizzes. Her PowerPoints are just like the textbook, so dont even bother buying the textbook. Such an easy class and sweet professor!
Prof Minten had very boring lectures. Up until Thanksgiving, she took her time with the chapters. Afterwards, she sped through the chapters, barely giving us time to write down the notes. You have to attend class as it's 10% of the grade. Read the textbook. Also, towards the end, her exams had ques about what she had said during her lectures.
Very condescending and had a "better than you" state of mind. Too much work for a useless class. She felt more like a high school teacher than a professor at a 4-year university. Walking into class put me into a bad mood instantly. Glad I only have to take it once.
I do not know how she lectures in her other classes but I definitely would not recommend her for AIS. She often goes back on her word and treats the class as if we are still in high-school instead of college. She has the persona of arrogance because almost everyone in the class is a freshman so she thinks she is better. Overall, I do not recommend.
Professor Minten is very straightforward with her grading. Her lectures come from slides that contain information straight up from the book & that you will see in the test. You have some quizzes to take but they are not due til the end of the semester & you get 2 tries per quiz. Her tests are very straight forward and drops one. You will pass!
She has a holier than thou type of persona. She is not my favorite professor but the class is extremely easy. If you can handle attitude and arrogance then the class will be a breeze but if you cant then avoid at all costs!! (SO MANY ESSAYS)
just memorize and study your notes and you will be fine.
attendance is mandatory. there are 4 exams including the final which is optional she offers extra credit for all the exams. online quizzes which are true/false and you get two attempts so its an easy 100. lastly, there is one movie project
This professor is rude and i would never take her again
She is very passionate about history and knows what she's talking about but it's history... so its a little boring regardless. Attendance is mandatory (she uses iclicker). The book is NOT required. Use her study guides! I took her for HIS 1043 and am currently taking her for HIS 2053. Her class isn't hard!
This class is really easy. She gives lectures every class which are really easy to understand and she tells stories in an interesting way. Theres quizzes for each chapter and 2 discussions throughout the semester. No need to buy the book I never used it
Great lecturer, she really knows what she's talking about. Her tests can be overly specific so reading took book and taking good notes will get you the best grade. I'm taking her again for Texas History, but she's an amazing professor, but not an easy A. Work for it, you'll get the grade.
She is a great professor and her tests are straight from her slides and reviews. She allows extra credit for every test and her quizzes are true and false and she gives you two chances... The only homework is the two discussion posts and quizzes for each chapter but she gives you time to do it. As long as you study over her slides, tests are easy.
I absolutely love Professor Minten! She is passionate in what she is teaching and I personally feel she makes learning History fun. Quizzes are easy and tests have study guides that almost guarantee a good grade if you utilize it correctly. Offers lots of extra credit but it is a matter of actually doing it. Love her so much I'm taking her again!!
if you read her powerpoints, youll pass this class.
Solid choice for professor and I don't really have any complaints about her other than class can be a little boring. Tests aren't too bad and the online quizzes are true/false and you can take them twice so you shouldn't get a bad grade if you try.
Shes very nice but personality the lectures were boring to me and long. The exams were pretty long. She does have easy quizzes, true or false and you get two tries. She wants you to get two books. She does offer one extra credit per exam. Also out of four exams (including final) she takes the top three. IT IS NOT EASY IF YOU DONT PAY ATTENTION!
Really passionate about history. The class is an easy A if you study the powerpoints and do the extra credit. Dont bother buying the book you dont need it.
If you plan on taking this class in person, you are better off taking it online. Professor is unnecessarily sassy. The PowerPoints alone are not enough, you should read the book and do the extra credit when offered. She even made this COVID semester unnecessarily difficult at times. Save your money unless you like teaching yourself.
Prof. Minten is overall a great professor who makes the class exceptionally easy. As long as you pay attention her lectures and jot down a few notes you should be okay for the test. Her quizzes are also easy being T or F with two tries and the same q's.
I took a summer online class and she made it super simple! She posted lectures and power points and the tests were straight from them (do NOT get the textbook). We had 2 tests and no final, and she gave 4 short quizzes that are super easy and barely any assignments. A little hard to reach over email though. She does extra credit too.
A very easy class with a great teacher! Only thing to focus on when taking this course is watching lectures and copying notes. I read the book as well in order to get a clear understanding of the material. If you choose to read, this is a great course to get used to a heavy reading pace in college.
The quizzes/prompts are super easy. Be specific on your discussions, those are easy aswell. My father passed during this course, but Professor Minten was so understanding and gave me extra time to complete assignments. Despite the circumstances, I still got everything completed. If I got an A+, so can you!
Such a great professor! Luckily you dont need to spend money on the textbooks, the PowerPoint notes she offers gives sufficient information. There is a lot of content but its easy to learn. If you study and take notes, youll be fine! Two extra credit opportunities is a bonus!
While she knows the subject she teaches fine, her actually ability to teach it to her students in a way that allows them to remember it is lackluster. Her teaching style is only lectures and unfortunately her lectures leave much to be desired. I have to actually bite my arm to stop myself from dozing off during them. Also very entitled personality.
She's an awesome Professor, for the first time ever I actually enjoyed History class. Her lectures are fun and easy to understand. The quizzes and exams come directly from her lectures. I usually spent 1 1/2 hour and I got A's on my exams. Highly highly recommend!! Just do it, no regrets! The only thing is she hasn't responded to my emails.
Professor Minten's lectures, I feel, were the best part of her class. They were very transparent, truthful, and sometimes funny. If you have a hard time getting interested in history she definitely knows how to make it more interesting for her students!
Minten turned out to be my favorite professor this semester. Her quizzes and homeworks are easy as long as you watch the lecture videos which are less than an hour. Personally I found the lectures to be entertaining since she teaches history like its a story (which it is) but she doesnt bombard you with facts or makes you remember everything.
Rhonda is an okay teacher, during pandemic time she is just kind of MIA and sends out hour and a half long lectures for each week and a T/F quiz, they aren't difficult but if you want to find answers it takes a solid amount of reading and listening for something that should take 5 mins
This class was so so interesting and nowhere near the amount of work that other teachers would have assigned. This professor is caring and sweet and cares about her students. I loved her so much I am actually taking her again in the spring semester. If you can you definitely take her!
Online because of COVID. One of the best history teachers/professors I've had. She knows her stuff and gives her opinions during her lectures. Simply do your work and study and you'll pass.
Take notes and you WILL pass. Textbook is free. Each week was a quiz and participation grade over one chapter, that's it! Final is optional. She gives extra credit opportunities. I didn't do them and still got an A+
This class ended up being one of my favorite classes I took. Simply watch the lectures and you will pass. Her passion for her teaching makes you WANT to learn. She even provides particular outlines to follow when listening to the lectures so you know what to study for. Overall a great teacher for Texas history! And I dislike history!!
I think this was a pretty easy class, books were free. She recorded her lectures over her the PowerPoint she made and added extra commentary. Her tests came mostly from her lectures so as long as you watched her lectures you were guaranteed to pass her tests. She had a chapter, quiz, and one free response question per week.
Honestly this is the kind of class you'd expect in high school. The assignments are pretty easy and there's plenty of time to do them. She's a sweet person and cares about you passing. There are extra credit chances, so don't be like me and at least attempt the test extra credit. If I did the extra credit and studied I would've gotten an easy A.
I loved Prof. Minten, this is my second semester taking her and she is just wonderful. Her syllabus is extremely clear and straight forward, she is also always available to help. As a CAP student she is a wonderful professor to take, I highly recommend it.
Nice and understanding
5wk summer - Very lecture heavy (50min-1.5hr). You dont need to read the textbook because the lecture covers everything . 2 test (50%) and 1 discussion (25%) are major. Very friendly but shes a bit disorganized in the way she has the course modules set up. The quizzes are easy (straight from the lectures) and the test uses the quiz question.
very easy and straight forward class, long lectures but it goes along with a power point. would recommend.
This class has a lot of busy work, but if you complete everything you will pass. Her lectures and the online content she provides are extremely useful and will set you up for success on her exams. Great instructor!
This class had a lot of information to take in, but Professor Minten was really good at explaining everything. There is a lot of leeway in terms of when things are due, but I would recommend staying on top of everything during the week. It's important to study for her exams as there is a good amount of content on them. Overall she is really great!
As a non-major, I loved this class! Professor Minten made history super interesting with her lectures even though they were a bit long. The textbook and lectures are paralleled but I'd recommend utilizing both. The assignments and exams aren't too hard either. I will definitely be taking a course with Professor Minten again.
Mainly easy busy work. She drops a ton of your lowest grades and rounded everyones grade up to the nearest letter. Also gave a few extra credit opportunities
She was so awesome. Only had 4 tests and two major grade papers that weren't hard. Had super easy quizzes as well that could be taken multiple times. She dropped our lowest test grade at the end of the semester.
I didn't study at all in this class. Simply went to her class, listened to her lecture and when it came time, took her tests. Finished the class with a 104 average. She gives tons of extra credit opportunities.
Professor Minten is amazing! As long as you actually listen to her lectures you'll get an A. She is a really great lecturer and teaches using story telling and jokes. It's never boring. There are text books but they're both free. Grade mostly consists of 4 exams and 2 writing assignments, she drops the lowest exam score. TAKE HER CLASS!
I love this lady with my whole heart, I also took HIS 2053 with her. If you go to her lectures and read the chapters you'll be totally fine. I literally have a 100 average in her class. She also gives minor extra credit. She is so passionate and I hated history before taking her, now I actually love it. Drops lowest exam score. Amazing professor
Professor Minten was by far one of my favorite professors.I took her last semester as well, and she is always amazing. Her lectures are very informative, and she gives you lots of leeway on grades. All the quizzes are due at the end of the semester so you have time to get them done. She truly makes learning History easy and fun.
I LOVE Professor Minten! She is super cool and if you email her she will try to help you with whatever. Her lectures have slides that she shares with you. She records lectures every week too. Main grades: a journal that you have to do weekly (turn in twice in the semester), primary analysis, quizzes, and exams. Overall, a super easy and fun class.
Fantastic class! Her lectures were funny and informative. Class was VERY easy, 3 attempts on T/F quizzes, tests were SUPER easy and covered by the textbook (which was free) and lectures. Tons of EC opportunities. Minten seems genuine and wants you to absorb the material because it's important to know, not for the test. EASY A with a little effort.
Great professor, gives students access to all quizzes until the end of the semester. Cares about her students and gives very clear guidelines of what you need to do to succeed in her class. Very sweet, and will take care of her students even in a full auditorium-sized class. Would take her class again if I could.
Professor Minten is one of the best professors I have had so far. She is extremely knowledgeable and makes learning history super fun and interesting. The course consists of chapter quizzes, lecture videos that she records, weekly journals and prompts, primary analyses and exams that are super simple. Some extra credit is offered.
Makes most work accessible from beginning of year, and many assignments are very forgiving on grading. Even if you aren't very interested in history, you can do very well in this class. +Provides free textbook. Great professor if you need to get your history credits up!
I took professor Minten online and it was great! She post video lectures every week and all you have to do is the writing prompt (the answer comes from the free textbook) and a true false quiz! You will have to write two papers but if you do good on the first you don't have to do the second one. The test come straight from the textbook! I recommend
This class online asynchronous is amazing. at the beginning of the semester she post quizzes and they are all due December 1st, you have 3 days to complete test, she makes videos, PowerPoints, and provides chapter if confused. This class is very easy she has 2 important grades in the semester but you get 2 weeks to finish it. Overall amazing
Professor Minten's hist 1043 online class was a breeze. weekly prompts for attendance, quizzes that are all due at the end of the semester, a reading analysis and tests. the workload was enough for you to learn but easy enough for an elective class. textbook is free online. ill be taking her for hist 1053 for sure.
Professor Minten is amazing! If you watch the weekly lectures and read the textbook, this class is an easy A. She seems super sweet and is very passionate with her teaching, and truly wants her students to succeed. 10//10!
Professor is nice, but this class is really time-consuming for being just a history class. Almost every week there is a super long reading, super long lecture, and sometimes an excerpt reading called a primary analysis. Class if okay, but this teacher would not be my first pick if I were to take it again.
TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! Lectures are fun and engaging, and the assignments are easy. The only hard assignments may be the primary analyses, but if you do well on the first one, you may not have to do the second one. Easy A!
This lady is amazing. Her tests are super easy and there's always 5 extra credit questions. The 10 questions quizzes are super easy, and you always get two tries. the participation attendance is just you having to answer one question from the book. the test can be long, but the questions aren't hard. TAKE HER CLASS you will not fail.
The semester is four in-person exams and one online. In persons are easy if you study and can have a cue card. Chapter quizzes, Weekly prompts, and study guides are provided for exams. She takes attendance randomly. The lectures are interesting. She loves what she teaches. There's a personal journal and a primary document analysis. Good class
Professor Minten was recommended to me by a friend, I would continue to recommend her. She makes her lectures and history itself interesting and enjoyable. The textbook used was provided for free. There is a short quiz for each chapter, as well as four tests which are not bad if you follow the lectures and take notes, the lowest test gets dropped.
I might've already left a review for Professor Minten because I've taken her before for a different course but I absolutely love her. She's so great and her lectures are awesome, she never leaves us on a "sad" note. She's so positive and funny and getting a good grade isn't difficult as long as you read the syllabus!
Professor Minten is amazing. I've taken two of her classes online, and had a smooth and positive experience both semesters. She's extremely clear with assignments, due dates, and grading criteria. She sends reminders and offers extra credit often. If you need a history credit, definitely take her!!
Professor Minten was one of the sweetest professors I've ever had. She's extremely caring and does really care for her students. Take her if you get the chance to!
I love Professor Minten so much; this was my second time taking her class and I'm glad I did. Her lectures are fun to watch and she does her best to ensure that every student has what they need to succeed. She also drops your lowest exam score which can be super helpful especially if you actually take all four of them. I would definitely recommend.
This class is a literal easy A. If you get anything below an A in her class then that's on you. The homework is load is super light. Expect to answer literally one question a week for homework. Her quizzes are due once a month. Her quizzes are not proctored and you can save and come back to them later. I sometimes forget I even have this class.
Prof. Minten is super caring and very knowledgeable. Her class is pretty easy as long as you do all the work. I personally hate history so her lectures were not super interesting to me, but she is super sweet and makes class as fun as she can. I would definitely take her again.
She cares about her students and makes the lectures enjoyable because you can tell she loves what she is talking about. 10/10 professor. there are weekly reading prompts and quizzes but it is all super easy.
Amazing teacher, the class was super easy to pass. Attendance is kinda mandatory, she had 10 random participation bell ringers. I was only present for like 3 yet still passed with a 90. The only "big" assignments she has were journal entries where you just had to wirte about your week due twice a semester. Plz take her shes amazing and youll pass.
Professor Minten is so sweet, funny, and caring. She puts effort into making the lectures entertaining. The chapter quizzes are easy (T/F format) and due before exams (T/F and MC), four exams total. She links the free textbook online, posts her PowerPoints, and records lectures. Participation is a small grade so you can miss a few and be ok.
Good professor who's passionate about what she teaches.
I thoroughly enjoyed taking this course. This would be my third course with Professor Minten, and every single one of them has been a delight. The course work is not overwhelming and Professor Minten makes the lectures very interesting to watch. She was very easy to contact electronically and responded fairly quickly.
I loved taking her class and looked forward to it every Mondays and Wednesdays. The quizzes are very easy T/F questions and she gives a few days to get the exams done. The midterm and final were just a personal journal on yourself and current events. This class was very enjoyable.
Amazing professor. Easy quizzes with 2 attempts. Exams are true and false and multiple choice, a little hard. There is extra credit. There is a journal where it is needed to be submitted in midterms and finals.
Took her for a summer class and am taking her again in the spring. She has assignments open for multiple weeks before they're due and let's you know about the deadlines. Gets off topic sometimes in lectures, but really easy to understand. If you read the textbook and use her sources you should do good.
Dr Minten is so sweet, she really cares about her students and if you get a bad grade in the class you just didnt do the work. Shes the type of professor you want to be in class just because you dont want her to be sad your not there. Gives extra credit, shes very passionate.
This professor is really nice. I took her in person lecture and I definitely think I would've taken her online class. All the work is on canvas, her lectures are just her reading off a slideshow that she posts online. Super nice, very little work, easy A. Lots of extra credit. I am taking her again for another history, I absolutely recommend her.
Easy class. Exams & quizzes - multiple choice. Other HW is a weekly journal about a current event and how youre doing. Only thing I found annoying about this was that it was labeled as a personal thing by which the professor would better get to know you by - but it was only ever graded and commented on by her grader which made it seem redundant...
She takes attendance on random days. Tests are online. During class, she is just talking about the chapter.
She was a very good professor, she was very empathetic and really took each topic with seriousness. She would make outings for extra credit. She drops an exam, four attendance submissions (in class or online), and I believe it was two quizzes. She was very funny and child-like and really cares for her students. Would recommend!!!
This professor was one of my favorites. She was really good at explaining the material and knew how to build off of it with her own experiences. She gave plenty of time to complete assignments. Attendance technically is mandatory but you'll be just fine if you miss a day or two. She was very kind and well spoken.
She was a great professor. Her lecture recordings were extremely helpful and all you really needed for the quizzes. She does occasionally pull from the textbook but she gives us free access to it. There is lots of time to complete the quizzes and the exams are easy if you did the quizzes and look over the slideshows.
Amazing professor, super caring and considerate.
offers lots of extra credit if youre willing to go out and explore the places talked about in class. she cares a lot and she's an awesome teacher.
10/10 would recommend Professor Minten!!! She is great and has a passion for history which makes her lectures enjoyable. Her tests are really easy and she gives little to no homework. Attendance is taken some days.
Professor Rhonda is a caring and engaging teacher who makes the material enjoyable. Assignments are straightforward, with helpful resources like Unstuckstudy making study prep a breeze. An easy A if you stay on top of things.
I have never met this prof in person but online you can tell she loves history and shows you the historical sites she's been. She's very clear in lectures and her quizzes were easy pass if you did listen to her lectures. Never had any problems with her class
TAKE HER CLASS!!!! Professor Minten is amazing. She makes her class a welcoming and joyful place, which makes for a wonderful learning environment. The class is easy to pass as long as you are attentive and follow along in lectures. I 100% recommend taking her class!
Take this professor. Her class was so easy to pass, and with an A. You do have to answer weekly attendance questions based on the textbook, but their 1 sentence entry's and the textbook is free. the bulk of this course is quizzes and tests and she allows 2 attempts. I genuinely have nothing but good things to say about her! This class was so easy.
Professor Minten's history class was very easy for me, because I went to her lectures. I believe this class would've been harder had I not went to the lectures.
Easy class if you attend the lectures and pay attention. The exams have questions that are from the textbook and from her lectures so make sure you attend all the classes.
I hate history; it's very tough for me to understand it. This professor made it so simple to understand and fun, which made me look forward to attending this class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she will randomly ask a participation question, which you'll have to answer on a flashcard at the end of the lecture, which counts as attendance.
Uses graded, in-class attendance questions. Textbook is free, not required to be read to pass class. Lectures are mainly done by reading off powerpoint, closely follows information found in textbook. Easy exams and multiple grades taken. Has passion for History and appreciates in-class questions relevant to course material. Easy and enjoyable.
She is one of the best professors. The textbook is free and the lectures are engaging. Exams have a pretty good time frame. I had no problem understanding the material and extra credit is offered.
I had the pleasure of taking 2053 with Professor Minten - She is very passionate about Texas History and provides thorough lectures in a timely manner. She set us up for success through her study guides, lectures, and ample time on her exams and quizzes. Overall, a fairly easy and straightforward class with opportunities for extra credit!
This class was super chill. Sometimes she can rant, but overall the lectures were engaging. She checks attendance randomly and is also very lenient with attendance. Going to the lectures will help a lot with the exams. All exams are online, open for a week, and not proctored. The journal assignment is also super easy.
She's a great professor. During the class, she is very calm and has the notes easy to access and easy to understand.
Very sweet professor, she is very passionate about what she teaches. She doesn't assign much work, weekly T/F quizzes, weekly reading prompt (super easy). She is overall great!
Such a nice person. Gives plenty of extra credit. Doesn't use any proctoring on quizzes or exams and textbook is free. Random attendance for credit but it doesn't affect grade that much. Very passionate about history and it shows in her lectures. Makes class very enjoyable. TAKE THIS PROFESSOR, SHES GREAT! Free A if you put in an ounce of effort.
I took this course online, which was completely asynchronous. The quizzes were all true or false and had fewer than 10 questions. There were only 4 discussion posts which were easy. 2 exams which were 50 questions and multiple choice. Nothing was proctored either. Just do everything on time (she gives plenty of time), and you should do fine.
Very nice, professor. Took her for a summer class. Had 4 discussion posts (with a response to a classmate), very easy quizzes for each chapter (10 questions max for each), and 2 exams. Overall very easy as long as you kept with the work.
Took HIS1053 during the summer semester so it was only 5 weeks. She weights the tests pretty heavy but would definitley take her again. Highly reccomend.
She's not horrible she's a really kind lady just firm on her policies. As for the course itself…. very thick. For her online class you are expected to read and watch her lectures over three chapters every month and you have three different quizzes on them and the exam is combined on those three chapters. Then you move onto the next and so forth.
I took this class online and was never stressed she is a really good professor take her if u want an easy A! only a few quizzes and the test were really easy.
SO STRICT ABOUT PHONES AND SOME OF THE ASSIGNMETNS ARE RIDICULOUS< SHE MADE US GO TO A HOLOCAUST MUSEUM FOR A PROJECT GRADE
