Excellent teacher. Tests are taken from his lectures. The tests aren't easy; you really have to think, but he makes the lectures so interesting that you know the information. I think the way he incorporates films into his classes is awesome. EXCELLENT teacher!!!!

Great professor. He's a history expert. Tells stories that you can relate to easily. Tells the "rest of the story." Lots of info in this class and you need to study. Tests are very detailed. Semester was way too long. Glad it was over.

EXCELLENT PROFESSOR.HE ENJOYS WHAT HE TEACHES AND THEREFORE MAKES THE CLASS MUCH MORE FUN THAN A NORMAL HISTORY CLASS.TAKE NOTES,MAKE FLASHCARDS OF THE REVIEW TERMS,STUDY CARDS IN ORDER OF DATE,MEMORIZE THE DATES. Points aren't weighted so a quiz point equivalent to test point. Only get to miss 30 points to get an A, take every point seriously.

Funny and exciting to listen to

I had him for American History Through Film. Very easy course. Only three tests, that was the only graded work. After the movie was over he'd go over the questions on the study sheet for the movie that he handed out. The test would contain one question from each movie and one from a handout that required some reading. easy and a funny guy.

not an easy course, but not hard if you do your part. professor is cool-minded! he's lecture is actually fun to listen to- like a story. his tests get somewhat difficult sometimes, but i got a B so can't complain! take him!

Great guy! Very funny! Makes history fun and interesting! He gets a little crazy with his stories and descriptions of events! Gives you a list of terms to know in advance of each test. Hes also a movie buff, so count on watching some classics! Overall great guy and teacher!

He is one of the craziest Professors I have ever had, he likes to really get into character and actually gets you into whatever he is talking about because it is impossible to ignore him and his insane lectures that are usually very entertaining. he gives a terms list to study for each test and the tests are very easy. GREAT instructor! I'm not a history buff, but he made it interesting. I learned more from him than any other history professor I've ever had. He gives you all the info you need for the tests, but you do have to study. His multiple choice questions are hilarious.

The best thing about his class, all his notes and tests are from his lectures. No book is needed so don't waste your money. He covers EVERYTHING that needs to be covered and that is exactly what is presented on his exams. You watch about 5 movies and do these little Q/A on them and some reading assignments. Overall, you should get an A.

Dr. Kabat is a wonderful teacher. He's very loud and I do not recommend sitting on the front row. He makes class very interesting and is not afraid to say things that might offend others. It's History, you have to talk about the bad things to get past them.

This was a history thru film class and i had a blast! If you made an effort to stay awake and make it to the movies, you will have a "B" in the bag! A little more effort and your at an "A". He is very understanding and is a great guy!!!

he was the best he always keeps you laughing and helps you really learn the material. he is loud but its not bad and keeps your attetion which is probabably a good thing because most people dont follow history well. i would highly advise him to anyone and i plan to take another one of his classes

GREAT teacher! He made American History the most interesting class I've ever taken just by his delivery of the material. We didn't use the book ever, just took notes from his lectures. He is a model professor, and his dynamics are ridiculous. You won't have trouble staying interested in class, and that should help intensely with your prep for tests

Great teacher. And he really knows his stuff - he just comes to class and lectures without anything. Not that I saw. He kept the boring stuff interesting, and he kept the sleepers awake with random SHOUTING. He shouted a lot especially when lecturing about wars and Hitler. haha.

Dr. Kabat is an amazing professor. He really knows his stuff. he comes into class ready to teach with out any notes to go by. its amazing how well he knows everything. plus, he always adds in interesting facts and stories about whatever he's talking about at that time. his class was never boring.

I really didn't know what to expect from Prof. Kabat, but I have to say he made the class so enjoyable, I was almost sorry it was over. Loud, keeps you awake, and totally hilarious. Never used the textbook, just took notes. I'm taking another class from him even though I don't need it.

Great guy. He's so funny and loud. I jumped the first few classes at his random shouting but after a while you get used to it. He knows his stuff too. He does great impersonations like he was actually there.

He is probably one of the best teachers at GSC and not only bc his class is fairly easy but bc he is always there to help you and does everything in his power to make sure you understand his lectures. This is one of those classes that attendence isnt mandatory but you have to go to get a good grade since all test questions come from his lectures.

All of the comments here are true. This guy is AMAZING at teaching and you learn SO much from his examples. There are only 2 tests and 1 final, so if you are taking this class make SURE that you can stay on top of your studying for the tests (I made flash cards) This guy teaches so well though- I wish I had him for everything!

This guy was crazy awesome!!! He came to teach my class because the previous teacher disappeared, but I was really glad he came! He makes history SO interesting. He acts out some of the battle scenes with yelling and faces, which makes it 10x better! I highly recommend this teacher!

Ric was an amazing teacher! The class isn't as interesting as the lecture, because the best part of his class is listening to him talk. But, it was still a fun and interesting class. BUT he is really strict about attendance in that class.

Kabat is an outstanding teacher. If your not a history person, I suggest u take him. He acts out the history lesson and really teaches the subject as if he is talking one on one with u. He is incredible and makes it fun. U will laugh alot! He can be loud a good bit to keep u interested and he tends to show movies alot. Def. an easy class!

I loved this professor. He was very helpful. If you missed class he will help you make up your work. If you don't understand something he will go over it until you do no matter how long it takes. Loved him! If you can take his class you wont regret it trust me.

He kept me interested on a really boring subject. His lectures are always very dramatic and exciting, his tests are verbatim what he says in class. Take notes and you will do just fine. Also write down EVERYTHING he says about the movies and you will get an A on the essay portion. He follows the study guide every class period. No need for textbook.

He was an alright teacher. he is a very nice guy. however, he just talks and talks and it's hard to take notes when he keeps talking. i had a very hard time in this class. but i still ended up w/a B. I had to study so much! one good thing is that you don't have to use your book. so don't buy it!

I took this as my first history class as a Freshman. I have never enjoyed going to a history class before this class. He is very fun, makes lectures interesting. You take a good amount of notes, but it is only what you need. Quizzes are very easy, only over handouts. You watch three movies, one per test. Take this teacher, you will not regret it.

Most definitely one the best professors at GSC. I would say my top two professors in my time here have been Dr. Kabat and Dr. Sharma (Physics). Definitely recommend his history classes.

Book is not needed. Just come to class, take good notes, study them and you will do well! Quizzes are easy, we had one in class (he gave us the answers) and rest were take home. Really do not need the book for his class. As long as you take your own notes you will be fine. NO FINAL, only tests. Will watch a couple of movies and have to answer a couple questions on the test from the movie. pretty simple, just show up and take your notes!

Kabat teaches from memory and is very thorough. Material covered is fun and interesting. Tests are from lectures which he tells you what to remember. He is understanding and gives you what you need to succeed. Don't skip class unless someone can take good notes for you. A great experience. Definitely one of the best to take!

Would definitely take again. Kabat was the best Proffesor ive ever had. He was very passionate during lectures (up beat changes voice) very intertaining. Tests were easy for the most part if you pay attention and study. I loved the class.

Dr. Kabat was hands down one of the best history professors I have ever had. He really gets into what he is lecturing about and makes it interesting. He gives three tests and the last one was the "final". There were 2 or 3 quizzes and a couple films. The tests consisted of multiple choice questions, I.D's, and questions on the films. Amazing class.

Kabat is obviously passionate about what he teaches and gives really entertaining lectures. We only had three tests and a few other assignments so it is important to really study for those. He gives you multiple study guides that are really useful for the tests. If you show up and pay attention in class you should do good.

Kabat is a really great professor. He got super excited about the material which made it more interesting. He covered all the material in class and gave study guides for all the tests. Be sure to attend class the day before the tests as Kabat used those days to recap material and answer any questions. Take good notes and you'll be good to go.

He is the best US history at UNG. I failed my first test. because of that I went to see him everyday. He is every helpful and care about his student. He offered me to take the 2nd text and final exam at act center with no time limit. I love him and he is very funny that why I want to go to school everyday. please take him!!!

His lectures are entertaining, he is very enthusiastic and he makes class really interesting. He does not assign much work, and the tests/quizzes are easy.

He gives a study guide before every unit with all terms, teaches what we need to know during the lecture, and posts slides for more help every week. You could never pay attention in class and still pass because he structures the class so well. He is the most entertaining lecturer I have ever had; stop looking for a history professor and take Kabat!

He is a chill professor, as attendance is not required. Use the PowerPoint and study guide to study for his exams. There are three movies with a short answer question and will be graded towards your quiz grade. The quiz grade is an easy 100%. Professor Kabat is an easy grader.
