Interesting lectures, really nice guy. Virtually no reading, the only work for the class is 8 short essays; very doable. There is pretty much no reason to go to class because the lectures rarely have anything to do with the essays or the scope of the class, but overall solid professor and easy class worth taking.

8 two-page papers throughout semester. The small yellow book really helps. My TA was amazing and made powerpoints for us that focused on the paper we had that week. Laremont is very intelligent, passionate, and real. He engages his students in lectures so don't be afraid to guess. He let us out of class early half the time and sometimes cancelled.

Great prof and good class. He doesn't really grade lower than a B+, but it takes some work (frequent participation and a good paper) to get anything above that. He seems to grade based on his overall attitude towards you, so make sure to go to his office hours and make yourself known.

Certainly one of the best political science professors in Bing. Laremont knows everything on his fields of interest and is very willing to share his travel experience. Do choose his class next time.

His lectures are inspirational and thought-provoking, but they don't help a lot with the papers. The yellow textbook and TA discussions were helpful. The class is about political sociology, so the beginning of the semester involved a lot of history (ex. Russian Revolution) then towards the end it focused more on modern times (ex. BLM & feminism).

One of the best polisci professors at Binghamton. He puts a lot of effort in to make sure students are engaged and learning the material. He also meets with students in his own free time which shows he's super dedicated to making sure his students are successful.

Laremont is hands down the best professor I've had. Sociology 100 is extremely easy and a work light course. weekly 2 page essays, no tests, one final 5 page essay. Lecture isn't mandatory but Laremont makes it worth going. If you need a filler class or the Sociology gen ed, take this class.

Soc 100 isn't particularly hard, it's just hard to get a good grade based on the way it's graded. Only the top 10% get A's and the next 15% get A-'s. It's non-stop writing short papers that aren't particularly hard, but your grade entirely depends on your TA. Lecture is useful but not required and the paper requirements are almost always unclear.

Professor Laremont is the best professor in this school. I learn more from hearing his stories than I do from all my other lectures combined. He's worked in very interesting positions in government and done super cool research. Highly recommend going to his office hours.

Fantastic professor, who is incredibly knowledgable and cares deeply for his students. It can be intimidating at first to participate in class because of how well-read he is. However, he does a great job in teaching the background information and giving overviews for difficult material. Grading criteria is very clear. Would highly recommend.

Very intelligent professor, knows what he's talking about and really teaches so much. His grading is pretty straightforward, it's just 3 papers that are graded on how well you improve from the last one, and participation in discussion. If you pay attention in lecture and know which readings to pay attention to, you'll be fine!!

Prof Laremont def knows his stuff I just had trouble following the lectures because he just keeps talking. Pretty easy course though, your only work is three essays and a quick presentation. He is a super cool guy but it all depends on your TA. Def would pick a different course if I could go back just because the material was kind of confusing.

Prof. Laremont forces you to think critically. I really liked his lectures and how they mostly involved conversations between the TAs and students. This class is great for anyone trying to get more educated on racial injustice. Graded on 3 papers and you have weekly readings. They seem optional but they help tremendously on the papers.

I'm sorry but his voice is so monotone and he complains about no student participation and then disables the zoom chat. I would actually pay attention to lectures if he didn't spend the first 30 minutes talking about nothing because by then I've lost focus. The book caste we had was really interesting, so I got all the info from readings, not him.

Laremont is a really cool guy, hes mega boring when teaching tho. dont take this class if you want an easy a he is notorious for being a tough grader and your grade is only based off like 3 things, a presentation, your final paper's draft and your finished paper. If u like writing then you will enjoy this class. If not, stay away

This is actually my favorite professor. He's incredibly intelligent and is able to answer some of the most obscure questions relating to his historical niches and subject. Some of the other criticisms on rate my professor aren't fair, as this class was only 1 day a week, so u should make effort to make attendance and participate.

I took his race law class 382O. He is knowledgeable and you will learn a lot from him. However, he grades on a ranking system and his criteria werent clear (but he doesn't give under a B- if you do the work). Not helpful with questions. High expectations. Called on people randomly. I put SO MUCH work into this class and wasnt even close to an A :(

Dr Laremont leads difficult courses that require thought and a bit of work. While his courses are not overly easy, they are so thought-provoking and you will genuinely learn from a course by Professor Laremont. Race and American Law was my favorite course at Binghamton, and I signed up for another class with him the next semester.

One of the smartest and most well-read professors at the University. Lectures are interesting and engaging, and he has a really good sense of humor. Professor Laremont comes with a wealth of experiences besides teaching (government, think-tank, etc), so you can learn a lot from him beyond the class material. Was very supportive and easy to access.
