Knows what he's talking about. Do all extra credit you can. Open notebook quizzes and tests. Read the text. Labs not hard if you work together as a team. Two field trips. Constantly repeating himself. If you can deal with that take him. Will answer all your questions - just ask.
Professor Hodor is very boring and EAS is hard. He repeats himself constantly but as far as I know he is the best EAS teacher here at Moraine. He gave out plenty of ex. credit which can bring ur grade letter up. I got an A in his class just b/c I did all ex. credit and I split all assigments and tests w/ my friends
This teacher is extremely hard. The tests are so hard you don't even have enough time to finish a 250 question exam and there are 4 of them. There are quizzes after every lecture and he doesn't give you enough time to finish those even. Also all tests and quizzes are open notes but still wont help you pass because of material he puts on the test.
He knows what he is talking about and goes into detail to clarify what he is talking about and the lessons do build up.
He is extremely knowledgeable, is willing to give extra time to help students, is a fair grader and you can learn a great deal from him if yo give it any kind of effort. The exams are somewhat difficult, but not so much if you attend, listen, take notes, participate in labs and do some studying.
impossible to fail
One of the best I have ever had!! Knows the subject matter, very fair grader, will help you whenever you have a question. Gives extra credit to boost grade. Highly recommended.
One of the very best I have ever had. He knows the subject inside out, is thorough in explaining it and very helpful when you have questions or don't understand. His grading is very fair and he offers extra credit to boost your grade. Highly recommended.
The only good things about him is that he knows a lot about he subject and he gives a lot of extra credit. I'm not one to whine, but he was extremely rude, biased towards certain students, and gets pissy when you need help.
BORING...
He gives a ton of extra credit. The tests/quizes are semi-hard but the extra credit makes up for them.
He knows the subject matter and can present it so that it is very clear. His exams are not easy- but this is college and if you study and take notes (which you can use) it is not that bad. Labs are fun and informal. He gives enough extra credit so that it is very difficult to fail. You almost have to work at failing to do so. Take him- you lear
Nice teahcer but gives A LOT of work. You will definitely work in his class, the tests are very long and hard if you blow off the class. If you pay attention and take notes you will be fine gives a lot of extra credit that helps greatly. He knows the subject very well is willing to help. I liked him
Lectures are a pain to sit through since they are so long (2hrs and 40 min). Tests are extremely long on average 200 questions. Offers a lot of extra credit so there's no way you will get lower than a C.
Not the most interesting class, but he gets into it and he makes the class really easy by giving out a ton of extra credit.
Stay away from him. His lectures are boring!!!!! He talks alot and doesnt say much. Labs are boring and difficult. Same as the tests. Gives out a lot of bouns points and lets you use notes on the test/quiz. Read the book and take all the notes you can!!
Hodur is a nice enough guy but his lectures were so dry and boring and his monotone voice did not help. All of the extra credit makes it difficult to fail his class but his teaching style makes it difficult to stay awake.
Not only are the lectures painful, but the exams and labs are difficult for the INTRO class it is suppose to be. He does give ton of extra credit points but even that can be hard at times. I thought this class was going to be easier than BIO..definitely not! His class is full of work, be prepared! He is a picky grader also.
He gives out a lot of extra credit to help raise your grade. He talks way to much and repeats things. you never have time to finish labs. he tends to forget when he tells u to turn stuff in. you'll turn things in on time and he'll forget and say he won't take it. he puts stuff on test we didnt even learn about. DON'T TAKE HIM!
One of the best I have ever had. Very knowledgeable and willing toexplain and help. Labs are informal, but can be challenging. some people think you should get at least a C for paying tuition and not doing any work. This won't work here- you have to earn your grade, but he gives enough extra work so it is difficult to fail. Take him!!
Took him for Earth Science and man does he give out a TON of extra credit, his class is easy to pass if you study, make sure you have the books because we use them a lot, the only downside is that he goes on tangents but on the same topic and tells you a lot of unnecessary information that gets confusing but over all a great professor!
Mr. Hodur is the best professor I have ever had. He is patient, organized and extremely knowledgeable. He is always willing to help students understand the subject material. He gives alot of extra work. Exams are challenging, but if you keep up, easily manageable. Take him, he is very good.
Mr. Hodur is the BEST professor I have ever had. I took his course in the Fall of 13 and had medium to no interest. He makes the subject matter very clear and is always willing to answer questions and help in any way. We took a field trip before the first exam to see many of the things talked about in class. Notes can be used on all exams.
Mr. Hodur is without a doubt the most knowledgeable professor at Moraine Valley in Earth Science, Geology and Meteorology. He is not the easiest, but you learn and understand the material he presents. He is also a very fair grader. Really good- take him
All his labs, lectures quizes and tests are definitely college material. I was at the U of Illinois 2 years, flunked out and am trying to get back. Mr. Hodur is as good or better than anyone I had at Illinois. Clear, concise and very fair. Take his course if you want to learn something and get a fair shake
Mr. Hodur taught the second half of this Earth Science class, and the person who taught the first half does not compare.I totally understood and did much better with Mr. Hodur. He knows his stuff and presents it in a clear, understandable manner. Very fair grader. Great teacher- TAKE HIM!!
Mr Hodur is GREAT!! He is easy to understand, funny and explains stuff so you can understand it- unlike many professors who explain it once- then it is up to you to figure out. A field trip helps to understand material before the first exam. He is very helpful in labs, but they are long and exams are not simple. you get to use notes though.
DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS! So hard. Worst decision I've ever made. He's so unclear and too old to teach. His voice is so monotonous and he is very unclear. When you ask him a question, he gets sassy. The test was the hardest thing I've taken in my entire life even though he lets you use notes.
Have to warn that he is rude when students have a hard time understanding the material. Repeats himself a lot and does not explain well. His notes are all over the place and unorganized, he bounces around from one topic to another. He is old and monotonous and can get arrogant. I am not too happy with this professor.
Mr. Hodur is the best, most clear instructor I have had in high school or college. He explains the material quite well, gives many appropriate examples so that students understand sometimes difficult material. He is respectful of students lack of experience in Earth Science and is always thre to help. Take him- h is real good.
I took Earth Sciene in my first semester at Moraine and by chance got Mr. Hodur in the Fall of 2014. He is the best insructor I have ever had. Very helpful and he makes a somewhat difficult subject easy and relates it to things in your life. You must work for the grade- but overall a great professor.
If you're a good student and you come to class on time and turn things in when you ask, then you'll have no problems with him. He has a major attitude with students who slack off and show up late. I loved him. He's extremely knowledgeable about the material and he wants to help you, as long as you put in the work. SO MUCH EXTRA CREDIT
Mr. Hodur is the most knowledgeable professor I have ever had. If you are there to goof off and think you will get a good grade- FORGET IT, but if you do what is expected and do the extra credit, you wil do well. Loved him- GREAT TEACHER!
Mr Hodur got me through my science credit and I am grateful to him. Science is not my strong point, but he explains things so you can understand and will take what ever time is needed during, before or after class to help any student struggling. He is incredibly knowledgeable and a very fair grader. Take him - Great teacher
Professor Hodur is a life saver. I am terrible at Science and had to have a physical science class to graduate. He gave me and everyone else all the extra help needed and he is so knowledgeable and funny. Lots of extra credit to help your grade. Best I ever had.
He is super nice if you respect him. If you do not respect him he will not tolerate you. He give a lot of extra credit, even for attendence. He does use every minute of class. He hates when people come late. He really knows his stuff so test can be hard. Dont miss class and pay attention and you will pass.
Boring, rude, monotonous voice, doesn't explain himself yet repeats insignificant things. Have a question? FORGET IT, he gets sassy, rolls his eyes and won't explain anything. LAB BOOK IS A MUST! Even if you can use notes on exams, it's still VERY HARD. LOTS of homework, quizzes every week. Takes points off for not using markers on labs! Too hard.
Mr. Hodur is the best. If you are a lazy person looking for an easy grade, he is not for you. If you are looking to learn something, his lectures are interesting and inspirational. The labs are interesting and he helps you through them. He gives enough extra credit so it is almost impossible to get anything lower than a C. He is the best I ha
Mr. Hodur is the BEST!! He takes the time to help anyone who asks for help. He expects students to be prepared for class and lab and those who are not usually dont do as well. He is fair, very clear has a very fair grading system and gives lots of extra credit to help your grade. He is willing to help anyone who asks. A great teacher.
He is very helpful and if you do some studying, you will get a good grade with all the extra credit he offers. If you do nothing, expect to struggle I liked him a lot.
Really good. He knows his material, gets it across so you can understand it. He is willing to help before, during and after class if you need it. He is the most fair grader I have ever had and he gives extra credit. Hard not to get a good grade, unless you just don't do anything. Great professor, take him.
I had Mr. Hodur in the second 8 weeks of a Weather and Climate Class. The instructor in the first 8 weeks was boring and did not grade the material as carefully as it should be. When Mr. Hodur took over, everything was graded, helpful comments were made. Mr. Hodur's lectures were clear and to the point. I could actually understand the concepts
Mr. Hodur took over in the second half for the regular professor who was pregnant. The class was Severe Storms. Mr. Hodur is the best I have ever had. I actually understood the material with him and he is soooo helpful He is energetic, clear and a fair grader.
Professor Hodur is BY FAR the best professor I have had at any school. I have taken classes at a 4 year school and 2 community colleges. He is clear, concise, organized and a very fair grader. You can actually understand what he is teaching and he cares deeply about students learning and welfare. Take him he is very good.
Very knowledgeable in his work but he is so confusing. This was a split semester class so the first half we had Mr. Kanja, I received a B in the first half and almost failing the second half now with Hodur, tests are ridiculously long between 150-190 questions and they are hard. Study guides are not extremely helpful. Can use notes on tests.
Confusing grading style until you get used to it. He seemed pretty tough for a while, but turned out to be kind of funny. He gives every opportunity to ask questions about the material. Lots of classwork you can't take home, and have to work on next time. One field trip where you have to carpool with a group of students to a few places near campus.
Great professor. Knows what he is talking about and is very helpful. Gives out a lot of extra credit that helps your grade. Also lets you use notes on tests. Need lab book and attendance is a must.
Professor Hodur is simply the best! He gives you everything to succeed. You have to do the work and keep up - do some extra credit and you will do well. The people who expect a grade for doing nothing dont make it with this guy- so if you are lazy dont take him.
Really good- clear -incredibly knowledgeable- willing to help-and available to explain. He is probably the best professor I have had because he has the ability to explain the subject material so you understand it and he is willing to spend the time one on one with students who need extra help.
Really knows what he is talking about. He gives enough extra credit to make it almost impossible to fail. A really nice guy that cares about students and does everything to help in this class. Probably the best overall professor I have ever had.
Tests are super hard, but he gives enough extra credit to pass the class. Very rude and has little patience for questions.
If Professor Hodur is not the best at Moraine, I would like to see someone better. He iknows his material completely, gets it across so you understand, answers questions and explains till you get it- is a very fair grader and gives extra credit.
Hodur is probably the craziest teacher I've ever met. His tests are extremely long (well over 100 questions) he gives you a quiz almost every class or for hw and he gives you a million chances for extra credit. Honestly his class isn't bad just the work load is a little excessive he's a funny guy just needs to realize most of us have other classes.
The best professor I have ever had. If you keep up-take notes that you can use on all exams and do some extra credit, it is impossible not to get at least a C
If you want a very fair grader and understand the course material, take Professor Hodur. He cares about students that want to get ahead- takes the time to answer questions and is available if you run into trouble. There is work to do, but he is the best of anyone teaching Earth Sciece
He loves what he does, and has a lot of experience in the field. He is monotoned, but he is willing to help if you are respectful to him. He offers ALOT of extra credit, so much that I did it all and did decent on labs and I needed to get 0 questions right on the final to get an A. Its doable work. you can use all your hand written notes on tests
Professor Hodur is by far the best professor I have ever had. He is clear, concise, a fair grader, gives bonus work and is willing to help you in any way. He is interested in helping students not only learn, but stay on course towards reaching their goals. If you have the chance, TAKE HIM. You will work, but it will all be worth it.
Professor Hodur is the best Earth Science teacher at Moraine. He is clear, concise and a very fair grader. He gives you the opportunity to do extra credit. Tests can be difficult if you dont keep up and study, but not bad if you do study material Overall one of the best, if not the best I have ever had.
Professor Hodur is great. Almost impossible to fail if you follow along and do required work. He gives a lot of extra credit opportunities and is very helpful and friendly. To fail you would really have to WORK at it.
Of all the professors I have had at the junior and senior college level, Professor Hodur is BY FAR THE BEST. He is such a fair grader and explains the material so anybody can understand it. He gives a good amount of extra credit and is always available for consultation and help. If there is anyone better out thee, I would like to see who that mi
he's rude, mean, if you don't understand something and ask him he rolls his eyes and say smart things. he doesn't care if your sick and can't make it class. don't worry about asking for help, he makes you feel dumb as a person.
This guy is extremely rude, makes you feel like an idiot, and good luck trying to stay on top of your homework because his assignments are all scattered around and unorganized. He skipped 3 different lectures in my class because we were not understanding what he was teaching us. do not and I repeat DO NOT take his class.
This professor not only knows the material, but is really good at explaining it. Some lazy people dont like him because they dont want to do anything and expect a C. If you do the assigned work and pay attention in class, with all the extra credit he offers, it is almost impossible not to pass. Really good- TAKE THIS CLASS
Best I have had at Moraine. Very fair grader, respectful of students and knows how to get material across. Labs tend to be a bit long, but he is williing to explain anything asked. Gives enough extra credit so that you can almost pick whatever grade you want to work for. You would be nuts not to take him.
I took this class because I needed a physical science credit. Prof. Hodur makes the class interesting and with his willingness to help not real difficult if you do the work. He offers a lot of extra credit, so the only way you cn fail is if you dont do anything. He is real good- I certainly would take him again if he taught oyher things
This class is passable if and only if you do every extra credit assignment. Did not lecture one time during the semester, and grades labs extremely harsh for someone who never taught the material it is on. Should be an online class. Consistently repremands kids in class for cell phone use despite wasting over an hour discussing canvas. Good luck.
Professor Hodur gets a bad rap only from the lazy people who expect an A or B for doing no work. He is an incredible professor who is extremely knowledgeable and knows how to get the material across so you understand it. REAL students do well because they attend, listen, study and actually do the required work. Lazy people fail as in life.
LOTS OF EXTRA CREDIT. CLASS IS PASSABLE ONLY OF YOU DO ALL OF IT. HE IS RUDE AND VERY CONFUSING. HE IS VERY UNORGANIZED. DATES ON CANVAS AS USUALLY OFF AND IF YOU ASK HIM QUESTIONS HE DOES MISTREAT YOU AND EMBARASS YPU IN CLASS. HIS TESTS ARE SUPER LONG. ANYWHERE FROM 180-280 QUESTIONS. I DREADED HIS CLASS AND HIM EVERYDAY.
Professor Hodur is by far the best earth science instructor at moraine. The care he takes is incredible. Extra help a lot of extra credit easy to understand and very helpfull. If you are a slacker you will not make it but give a reasonable effort a nd you will have no problem
This professor is so good and so complete in his teaching and help with students BUT you must work at the class and study. Those that are looking for a free ride dont get it from professor hodur then bad mouth him for their own failings. You always know what to expect and he is the fairest grader i have ever had. Take him but not if you are a goff
If I had not taken Mr. Hodur in the spring semester of 19, I would have never graduated because I had failed twice before with others at Moraine in physical science. I took Mr. Hodur as my final attempt and soon realized I should have taken him first. He is not easy, but clear and he gets the points you must know across so they can be understood.
I took this class, Earth Science because it fit my time schedule and got Mr. Hodur as the professor. One of the best breaks I have gotten in college. He is not easy like some, but makes you work for your grade, but explains things so you understand, gives all kinds of extra credit and is willing to help, If you cant pass Mr. Hodur- you cant pass
Simply the best professor i have ever had!!! Some people bad mouth him because they dont want to do anything and that does not work in his class if you do the work with the extra credit he offers it is impossible to fail this is college. Not high school so required work needs to be done
If there is anyone better than Mr. Hodur, I would like to see that person. He is amazing in his knowledge of earth science. He is a very fair grader andtreats all students equally and with respect. He offers a lot of extra credit. Impossible to fail unless you are a complete lazy student
This class is a easy pass, but he is a horrible teacher. He never publishes on canvas what he says he will. He is so rude when you ask him questions, he acts like your stupid. His tests are 200 questions long and one of his exams was 380 points. We also went on a field trip when it was 32 degrees and snowing out and stood outside for two hours.
Labs are long and hard. He does not explain anything. He talks on lab days and leaves us 20 min to do the whole lab. Rude when you ask a question. Field trip was terrible it was freezing outside and he stood there and talked. You can pass this class by just showing up and doing the work. I learned nothing in the class, take the class at ur own risk
A really great teacher if you are lazy and expect something for nothing, you will bein the wrong place. Work is doable if you follw directions. Everythind spelled out on the course calendar. Exams are what he has covered and you get to choose the questions you want to answer. A lot of extra credit He really knows his stuff and is willing to he
Mr. Hodur is really good. He knows the material completely, uses different teaching styles and is very helpful. A warning to those expecting a blow off course this is not. If you dont do the work you wont pass. You get to pick the questions on exams you want to answer. He gurantees you a C if you miss less than 3 days and have no more than 3 m
This man is incredible. He lets you use notes on exams- you get to pick the questions you want to answer - he gurantees a C if you have 3 or less absences and papers not turned in. Whats not to like? You are an idiot if you dont take him!!
I have never gotten an A in my life high school or college BUT I did in Professor Hodurs Earth Science class because he is an incredible teacher who gives you every opportunity you could wish for. Guranteed grade notes on exams you pich questions to answer. He is AMAZIBG
I heard Professor Hodur was a tough graded but he really is not if you keep up with the material take notes you can use on exams and pay attention. I could easily have gotten an A if I did a little more EC He knows his stuff and you will not have any problem getting a decent grade
Mr hodur is really good. He takes the time so you unerstand. Notes can be used on exams. He guuantees you a c minnimum if you dont miss more than 3 classes you pick what questions to answer on exams. He is great
The very BEST ever! 1st half was in class and he is so clear, and easy to follow- gives great feedback so you understand. Second half was online because of Corona virus and he helped everyone through that. He goes out of his way to help you. Take him if you get the chance.
Professor Hodur is a life saver to me. I am bad at science and he makes it so understandable and is very patient and understanding. He explains and is willing to help all you need to get by. He also offers enough extra credit that it is impossible to fail, unless you really try and dont care Take him - he is really good
I had Mr. Hodur in the semester of the Coronavirus in the Spring of 2020. He was clear and concise in class and the second half when we were online, he made everything easy to follow, just like in the classroom. A lot of people were not as lucky with their professors there was a lot of confusion - But Mr. Hodur is great in the classroom and onli
He doesnt like to hear comments or questions. Easily irritated. Hes very specific about small details and takes points off for everything. If something is slightly late youll receive a D. His lectures are ridiculously boring. Gives SO MANY QUIZZES each week and he makes up the questions himself so you cant use other resources- they wont help.
I have Professor Hodur now for Earth Science in a virtual format. He is so good that it seems like we are actually in class live. He explains everything so clearly, answers all questions and gives a lot of extra credit work. There are a lot of quizes to force you tto keep up with the material, but if you do, they are not difficult. The Best
Mr. Hodur is simply the best instructor I have ever had. Clear presentation, clear in what to expect and he follows through. He gives enough extra credit that it is impossible to fail this course. Explains everything well aznd is willing to help at any time.I took this as a virtual class during the pandemic
I just finished a virtual Earth Science class with Professor Hodur and not only was it interesting and involved, but Prof. Hodur makes it so clear and easy to understand. It is like being in class. He is a very fair grader and works with everyone to assist. He really knows his stuff but does not act superior like some profs do. Take him
The best, mos fair grader I have ever had. If you need clarity in a subject, take Mr. Hodur- his lectures and how he answers questions are crystal clear. The material is fairly difficult but he makesa it understandable. A really nice guy willing to help at any time.
During the pandemic, I took Mr. Hodur's Virtual class and it is soooo much better than the online classes I have taken. He gets the material across so you can understand it and gives all the help you need. I would like to take his class in face to face - REALLY GOOD PROFESSOR - take him
Got lucky with Mr. Hodur. Super teacher, understanding, respectful and gives a lot of extra credit. Take him any way you can - he is really GOOD
Professor Hodur is really great! Not only does he know the subject, but he can relate it so you understand it. Many professors can't or won't do that. He is a fair grader and always willing to help any student Top Notch in all ways
Little bit random with tests & difficulty of communicating virtually. Not the best with talking to his students regarding questions or concerns - more or less ignores the problems & lets his students come to him before he is concerned for them.
I have Professor Hodur now in the Fall of 21 He is by far the best professor I have ever had. Clear, concise, easy to understand, organized, a fair grader. He is really good.
Best decision I ever made. Prof. Hodur is clear, consise organized and knows what he is talking about. He gives good feedback and is a very fair grader, giving lots of extra credit. Can't fail if you do the work.
The best. You can understand what he is getting across, he is more than fair with grading and gives lots of extra credit. He gurantees a C as a minnimum grade if you show up 90% of the time and turn in 90% of the work. Can't fail unless you are a complete moron.
Professor Hodur is great the very best. Knows his stuff, is a very fair grader, does not give more than a normal amount of work and is available for help. Always friendly. Guarantees a C if you attend 90% ofd classes and turn in 90% of work. Cant flunk unless you try to.
Really good, very organized, gives a lot of extra credit. He guarantees a C. Hard to fail unless you try or are a complete idiot.
One of the best. Guarantees a C for 90% attendance and turning in of required work, You are a moron to pass that up. Easy enough to get a B. He knows his stuff and is very fair.
Really knows the subject matter and explains it so you can understand it. All kinds of extra credit - very fair grader - Guarantees a C if you turn in 90% of assignments and attend 90% of time. Cant beat that higher grade easy enough to get
By far the best Earth Science Professor at Moraine. His grading is very fair, clear and you know what you need to do to get a grade. He is funny, entertaining and you actually walk away learning stuff. You need to work, but nothing unusual. Can't go wrong taking him.
Awesome professor. Knows the material completely. Very fair grader but the course can be challenging at times. Always available to help. Actually guarantes a C if you attend 90% of time - turn in 90% of work and give an effort. No one does that! Good guy, very helpful Take him, you wont regret it
The fact he has such high ratings is beyond me. He is a crabby old man and extremely rude. I'm currently in his class and he practically berates the studnets who ask for help and leaves extremely passove aggressive comments. DO NOT TAKE HODUR.
Really good- Knows the material completely. Expects students to actually prepare for class. Gurantees a C if you meet contract conditions If you treat it like a blow off course you will not do well, Grading fair and you always know where you are. Gives good help to all students- the best I have come across
Professor Hodur is a fair grader who guarantees a C if you put in the effort. The class can be challenging, but he's helpful and makes the material engaging. I found unstuck study and the free textbook to be great study aids alongside attending lectures.
Professor Hodur is simply the BEST!! Guarantees a C if you attend 90% of the time and turn in 90% of work. He is clear and a easy grader. Anyone who cant pass his class does not belong in college
Hodur having good reviews is insane. I've never seen a class run so poorly. Assignments and exams are so convoluted. Prepare to bend over backwards and use fifteen papers, three scantrons, four pens, three packets, a map, a compass, and the holy grail to complete a ten point assignment. Confuses himself and the students daily. Hodur, please retire.
Clear, concise, knows the material and explains it well enough so you can understand it. Guarantes a C if you attend 90% of classes and turn in completed 90% of required work. If you cant pass his class you are a lazy IDIOT who does not belong in college
