He is a great teacher who is always there to help when needed. His has a lot of work, but it is needed in order to understand the class.

Class is fun and the tests are easy

I liked his class. He was to the point on what he wanted you to learn. If you listen to him in class you score great on your essays. I took it in the Summer so it was a condensed course and still pulled off a B

Baldwin though seemingly callous at first turned out to be a great professor. Regardless of the negative general opinions on this site he does care about the sucess of his students in class.

I loved this class, he is very smart and knows a lot about what he's teaching. I think he's very funny, though I am not easily offened. He's very open-minded and teaches that way. I would take him again. Material is challenging though, but shouldn't it be?

If you are not open-minded he will really piss you off. If you are set in your beliefs he will really piss you off. If you are not willing to face facts he will really piss you off. Overall... a WONDERFUL TEACHER! Highly recommended!

If you are offended by him, you should quit college and become a tool for a living. This man is great, honest, and speaks truth to power. Yes, he makes sure to criticize religion. But religion needs to be criticized. If you disagree, then challenge the history he presents. He does not lie. This is school people, where you learn new things!

Professor Baldwin allowed me the opportunity to test my faith, ideals, and truths by closely examining my theories. By his careful analysis I was able to reaffirm my beliefs, because he tested me as a person, student, and friend. Baldwin was single-handedly one of the most influential teachers to have ever graced GCCC Halls, Youll love him!

Takes attendance every day. Gives you extra credit assignments to add points to your test grade. Sometimes repeats himself but is overall a pretty interesting lecture. Reads off the test as a review the class before you take it so you know exactly what to study, (and what the answer is, for that matter.)

Before taking Western Civ with Baldwin I had no interest in History, Religion, Philosophy, or critical thinking. He completely captured my attention and actually made me think. Unlike most professors he does not accept opinion as fact, he will challenge your ideas by asking for evidence for your beliefs. This is what a professor SHOULD do.

Pure genius, honestly he keeps the class interesting. It is not exactly easy or the most exciting material, however we have a good time learning it. It is currently my favorite class. When I have been absent, I felt like I probably missed something "cool". He keeps it fresh giving students the opportunity to discuss the topics at hand and then some

Wow, people seriously think he's bad? I guess if you just want a professor to not care, he would be, but otherwise he's one of the best I've had. He challenges students to think (many of which feel this is him being mean), and is always available to help. So if you don't want to open your mind, don't take him. But then, why would you be in college?

Great guy on both an academic and personal level. If you can stop being defensive about your beliefs for 5 minutes you'll realize he never attacks them, just asks questions. He makes class so interesting that I feel bad when I'm absent because I missed out. Pay attention and you'll pass the class effortlessly. Don't buy the textbook.

I wasn't looking forward to this class at all, but Dr. Baldwin made an hour and a half of history bearable by keeping it interesting and encouraging discussion. He's always got an interesting view on things, and fun to talk to after class if you need help with something. You can tell he loves his students.

This guy is the bomb. He's fun, energetic, and awesome. He was the best teacher I had in Gulf Coast, bar none. If your lazy, simple minded, or close minded, you're screwed. People tried to discourage me form taking this class with Dr. Baldwin. I am glad that I took this class. Baldwin made the class extremely fun, my knowledge has increased. Baldwin also go over half of the test a couple days before testing. Tape recording is allowed while going over the test. There are about three extra credit papers.(Recommend)

Mr. Baldwin is a really good teacher. He keeps class interesting and interactive often taking surveys pertaining to the material like "who's side are you on : Aeneas's or Dido's" and he's always happy to go over your note cards with you to help your study habits improve. And okay, let's be honest...he's pretty easy on the eyes too! haha

He is very funny and interesting. Makes info and facts easy to interpret and remember. Has review before tests, and sometimes gives open book exams. I have enjoyed the class and have even read some of the books he introduced in class. I loved the class, very enticing.

Dr. Baldwin provides slides and test reviews alomg with using the book. If you study the slides and the book you should pass. Tape recorders are alowed on test review days. I also found this professor to be very helpful.

Dr. Baldwin is the best the study material provided is what you need to pass the class. Just grab the study guides and study everything is in there follow the syllabus and you be just fine. A+++++ Great professor.

I did not like Baldwin. If you voiced your opinion about religion he looked down on you. I studied all day and all night but could not pass. I ended up failing Algebra because I concentrated so much on this class. I took voice memos on what he said and studied the 'cheat sheet' that he gave. I will not be taking his class again.

I absolutely loved his class, he is hilarious and is very passionate about his job, you don't need your book, listen too every lecture and print out the notes he has on angel for you, study and pay attention and you will do good. I would have done better if I just studied more but if you are having a hard time he will help with open arms

I loved having him as a teacher! I took him this year for philosophy and once for west civ. He really enjoys his work and is so enthusiastic. He makes you question the world around you, in a good way. He also reads off the test and answers the class before test day! Highly recommend.

Professor Baldwin was by far one of my favorite teachers. People who complain about him are likely sensitive and used to Professors that sugar coat things. Baldwin is honest, smart, funny, and a very caring guy. When I had personal problems that I spoke with him about, he was very kind and understanding. If you're close minded, don't bother.

Took two of his classes, philosophy and humanities, and passed with an A. A lot of people dislike him, but I loved him. Dr Baldwin's class is really something else. On the one hand, he is very excited about what he teaches and is very knowledgeable. He's also very understanding. I endured a bad breakup and missed some days of class and he was compassionate. On the other hand, he has very strong views about religion and isn't afraid to share. I enjoyed his class.

Dr. Baldwin has a very strong personality, but if you take the time and effort to speak with him, especially in person, you will realize that it is NOT because he is a jerk. Loved having Baldwin's class! He is an amazing teacher. He is straight to the point and blunt about facts. Some people got upset during this class due his non-traditional beliefs, but that was because they asked for his personal opinion. Don't ask for what you don't want to hear. Best professor I have ever had in any level of schooling. Would recommend to take class for anyone going to Gulf Coast. Baldwin is incredibly smart, entertaining, and charismatic. His lectures are so entertaining that I would listen to him talk through legal documents. You don't need to go to class to pass, but I never skipped because of how good.

Regardless of the negativity expressed by this some, Dr. Baldwin is an exceptional professor who provides students with what is needed for success in the class if studied. He has a very big heart, contrary to what he wants you to believe. Baldwin is my favorite and I will always remember his passion for history introducing me to mine.
