He is a great teacher
Really great guy in and out of class!
He is super cool, and has a great sense of humor
He is a good teacher, i changed my major because of him!!
Very nice and helpful! I think he is an excellent teacher
He is a great teacher. Easy to understand
Nice Guy, Kind of Absent minded
Dumb comments is the worst thing I can think of. Otherwise, a good prof.
he is a godsend to GRCC accounting- he teachs well and genually cares
He was fun, its hard to keep 2hrs of acc't interesting
What a windbag..very boring
a real blast, not very difficult either
he makes accounting easier to learn
I find him unclear in his teachings, and un-enthusiastic
Good teacher make sure you pay attention and learn your stuff
No Comments
Very helpful...I'd take another one of his classes.
pay attention is the most important thing, even though its a 2 hour class. do the homework, problems on the exam are almost the same as on the homework if not easier. Very funny dude
Very good teacher. Helpful, gives extra credit. Take his class! Breaks down info so you can understand it. A+
Good guy but horrible teacher, he never emphasizes what's important, anything he talks about most likely will show up on the deadly multiple choice portion of the test
No Comments
I also changed my major because of him. This man makes accounting FUN! Likes to joke around a lot.
Really nice guy- prepare yourself for Ah, forget about it and JIT lol
If you are taking accounting at GRCC, get this man! He is the best, had him for both BA 256 and BA 257. Relax and have fun! Really really nice guy!
Very nice and very helpful! He gives encouraging comments even if you didn't do very well on a test.
Barnhart is hilarious, and a good teacher too. It's definitely worth taking his class, he makes this class about as fun as it can be.
Great guy!!! study the notes like its the bible and you should do fine. LOOK OVER WORKING PAPERS!!! he does not give any surprises. ask him for help and he will help you through and through
I recommend him very much! Don't miss class because his notes are practically the test (which makes things easier). If you need extra help, the lab is great too (if you dont have time to ask him after class or in).
Barnhart is the man. As long as you go to class and do the assigned homework you are golden.
Helpfull and really nice
This Guy is an awesome teacher makes coming to class fun even if the tests can be hard
This guy is great! If you need both 1 and 2 accountings, make sure to get him for both. Study your homework because the tests come from there. He has a corny sense of humor which makes it fun, and he's always willing to help
Shwing? This guy is strange but you gotta like him. He makes even a 2 hour class entertaining at times. Definate..Def..Def..Definatley gonna take 257. I wanna no what kinda craziness this guy is capable of.
This guy is great.... His humor rocks the house. If you do not like accounting he will make it likeable. Extremly compassionate and truly cares about his students. Go Mr.Barnhart...
He is a very easy going and laid-back professor. He explains the subjects well and answers any questions to the fullest and replies to emails rather quickly. Quiz or exam every week, but they were easy if you attended class and took notes. Likes to joke a
scatterbrained, cannot teach in an organized matter. my notes were all over the place b/c he does not know how to teach. then i could not study them. tests are over things u may discuss 4 a second. not a good teacher.
He is a nice guy but says some dumb things sometimes. just not the best techer for an accounting class
What a scatterbrain, he has to take a long pause and then he forgets what he's talking about and talks about something totally different. If you have him, change right away!!!!
Makes first timers in accounting very at ease, and his sense of humor is a riot. Accounting is not hard if you attend class, take notes, STUDY THEM, and use the lab. It's your own fault if you still say you don't understand it at the end.Get help EARLY on. He's fair and wants everyone to do well.
He was a great teacher. He tells quarky jokes that are somehow funny and makes listening to him in class fun. Also if you dont do good on his tests its your own fault because he explains everything fully and leaves room for questions. If you do bad in his class its your own fault.
Great teacher & he's never in a bad mood.He is one of the few teachers who knows how to keep your attention with the help of some humor.Note-taking is EASY because they are ALL on an over-head,so there's no excuse.Tests & quizzes are ALL taken from handouts or notes on the overhead. No excuses.
DEMOCRAT!! I have him during the election and he slammed Bush the whole time. Plus, he couldn't team. He was ADD and acted like he was in middle school. doesn't help ya especially because you are taking a tough accounting class.
I agree with the last rater in that hes probably ADD. He goes out of the classroom all the time & gets distracted with what he's doing. He also couldn't seem to keep focused with what he was writing on the board. He sure didn't keep my attention b/c of this. I dropped the class for all those reasons
Don't listen to the last two losers who probably flunked out of his class. Take it from someone born with a brain. He will help you learn accounting and keeps it interesting, but it helps if you actually listen in class and do the homework. His notes will help a ton for the exams.
Had him for both BA 256-257. Good teacher, tries to make acounting interesting. Sometimes forgets that it doesn't come as easy to us as to him. Tests are challenging but not overly so (except for a few). Lets you use the same book for both classes. Has an interesting sense of humor, you're either laughing with him or at him. A reccommended teacher
fun guy, can be a little long winded, stop listening when he says "i just want you to be aware", or "just for fun lets..." you might get confused. other than that he's great, study the notes and you'll get a good grade
He is a great teacher. Easy class this year all notes were on blackboard so all u had to do is print them out. he is very nice to student. will do everything to help you pass. if you want a fun and educated accounting class take him
I would take Barnhart over any professor at CC. He is an awsome teacher, and very helpful. If you don't like accounting, you will like it when you are finished with the course. I highly reccomend Barnhart!!
Barnhart is a HORRIBLE teacher...But a very Funny Guy. His humor is of the WALL. If you are a serious student whom is proud of your GPA don't take this clown!! But if you dread accounting anyway, and want some humorous babble for two hours in a row...take him.
Why does everyone think this class is so easy. It's the only class I tried in and I got a D+. This coming from a 3.0 student. Barnhart is seriously hilarious and doesnt give a crap about anything but his tests are extremely difficult. Non-accounting majors: get a different professor.
Really nice guy and funny, but you really need to pay close attention with Barnhart. Knows his stuff and is willing to help, but is not terribly organized. "Just for fun, let's try" is a cue that you don't need to learn it. If you want a better organized prof, Knauf is awesome or (from what I've heard) Spoelman is decent.
Very unclear teaching stlye.. would NOT suggest as a teacher
You have to be an idiot to not receive an at least a B. The guy tells you exactly what you need to know for each test...EXACTLY. Just do the homework, which isnt very much....and study for the test the night before and you'll do fine. Tests are fine, YOU KNOW EVERYTHING THATS ON IT. Just study a little bit, you'll do fine! Trust me!!
Talks off-topic constantly. Sorta funny guy, jokes are commonly not funny. Very hard/long tests. Possible to ace, but 1/2 the class will fail. Commonly refuses to answer questions. Avoid if possible.
I had Barnhart for both BA-256 and BA-257 and he ROCKS !!!! He has an off the wall sense of humor that if you have any will make you laugh. Sometimes he jumps off topic, but it's a good break to the mundane art of learning. He truly loves his work and you can tell. AWESOME TEACHER.
He had off-the-wall humor and goes off on tangents alot. But her was very approachable and answered any questions you had. The tests were difficult.
As long as you do your stuff and study for the tests you will do fine.
Really cool. makes lots of jokes but Class is way too hard. I have a source that showed me his stats more then half his students fail or drop out. Thos arent good stats at all. Oh well if you think your going to be one of those 40%-45% that think you can pass then take it!...if not take another prof.
Keeps things interesting and simple. If you follow the work and the notes you will do fine. This is not a class to be distracted, but that goes for any accounting class.
Accounting is not fun or easy. With that said, you can't ask for much better than this guy. He makes his class entertaining(find another accounting teacher that does that), as well as conveying the material in an understandable manner. PAY ATTENTION! DON'T MISS CLASS! TAKE NOTES! He moves fast, but if you give it 100% you'll be fine.
He talks off topic a lot and it can make learning accounting harder than it needs to be. He will talk about something for an hour and then say, "but you won't be tested on that so don't worry about it" - then I slam my head against the desk and leave the room for break.
Awesome professor--great sense of humor
It's a hard class but he is very helpful. My advice is to do your homework, take good notes, study a lot, and ask plenty of questions.
Probably one of the best instructors I've had in all of college. He knows accounting, and teaches it well, while keeping your interest.
Talks ALOT. He knows the stuff, but He talks alot about nothing. Pay attention and you'll be fine.
Very easy to learn from. Gives lecture notes and the book is basically for homework or refreshing your memory from class. You need to show up in class or you will fall behind. Test are not difficult if you do your homework.
I have him for both 256 and 257.6 quizzes lowest one dropped. 5 exams,if you do your homeworks and went to class, you will do really well on exams. Q's on Exams are really similar to the HW. But the MT choice part require some reading from the book.
On line class, clear schedule, alot of discussion boards, easy weekly assignments, one group project and a large project on your own, 5 test. Makes things very clear. Great professor
Highly recommend! He is a very good teacher, and I enjoyed the class. It is very important to take notes. His exams are much tougher than he seems to think they are. He will say that a problem like his example will be on the exam; however, he manages to make it more difficult than you would expect. I wish I had asked more questions to clarify!
Incredibly nice professor who actually takes the time to get to know his students. I thoroughly enjoyed his class! He's very well organized - he puts his lecture notes on Blackboard, lets you know exactly what to focus on for exams, and posts your grades faster than any other professor I have had. He's a sweet guy with a great sense of humor!
DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR! HE DOES NOT TEACH ANYTHING, YOU HAVE TO TEACH YOURSELF. VERY VERY HARD AND DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THE STUDENT INDIVIDUALLY.
Can go off on tangents, but if you listen to what he says then nothing on the test will be a surprise. He has no problem explaining things more thoroughly if you need, not too much homework, and everything he assigns and goes over is directly related to the test.
One of the worst profs I have ever had. He did not care if you learned, just wanted to rush through the assignments. He would just give the answers on practice problems, but was unable to actually TEACH you how to get to the answer. I would ask him to explain, he would say you'll probably understand better after another problem, lets move on.
I would definitely recommend Professor Barnhart! He does an excellent job with his lectures and is always willing to answer any questions. He's a nice, funny teacher. Definitely pay attention any time he lets you know something will be on the test - he means it!
Mr. Barnhart is awesome. He doesn't take the class too seriously and it makes learning accounting fun (at times). He's pretty funny too!
Great Teacher! I had him for the summer semester 7 week course and it was a lot to learn in a short time, but I loved the class and his teaching style. Super clear on assignments and test. FUN FUN FUN CLASS
Overall a great teacher, but he has some quircks. Often when someone was raising their hand or starting to ask a question he would simply ignore them. Not sure if it's intentional. Also don't expect to EVER get out early except on test days. And be sure to eat beforehand during summer semesters because time istself literally stops during his class.
He made it difficult for the returning adult learner. He made sure to tell his opinion of you in front of the entire class, maybe he just didn't realize how it affected the student, idk. If you take his class, be prepared to get into a study group or get some additional tutoring. His class is difficult if you don't fully comprehend the material.
He just teaches at you, he doesn't care if you understand the material. He teaches to you as if you had a masters in accounting
he covers alot of material in order to meet transfer requirements. he won't stay on a topic too long for that reason. He's definitely quirky-typical accountant. Take another teacher like Robert Groenleer for your first accounting class. Mr. B can be pretty difficult if you don't study. tests seem to get easier after a while in BA 257
He is usually in a pretty good mood. I feel that he repeats himself a lot but that may be to drill it in your head. I did however not like the lack of use of blackboard or emailing. not a great class or professor overall.
Good teacher who cares about students doing well. Helpful in preparing for what will be on the tests and exams. You can tell he enjoys teaching.
I suck at accounting, but I actually enjoyed this class... not the course work per say, but Barnhart was a really good teacher who you could tell really cared that you did well. Funny/quirky guy and really helpful. I'd recommend him if accounting isn't your thing either lol
Mr. Barnhart is the best online instructor I have had! He is very well organized and gives clear instructions. I appreciate his weekly email reminders and very quick response to the discussion board. It's great that the db is not a requirement. I would prefer not to have to take the final exam on campus, but the course is not too difficult.
online class; really easy.
Boring teacher with lame jokes but he's good at what he does. Never had trouble understanding him. Quizes were easy, exams were somewhat difficult but I zoned out many times in class.
He makes an hard class even more difficult. The WORST PROFESSOR. He is a smart guy and know what he is talking about, but he doesn't care if students understand or notHe has his favorites and spends his time talking about life. His jokes are irritating when you are having trouble with understanding; I almost cried and scream at him to stop joking.
Worst grade I've received in a college class yet. He makes it very hard to do well because he trails off talking and joking with the adult returning students. You're left to try to learn yourself and the book doesn't make it very easy to do so. Not enough assignments in the class to make up for struggling on the tests. I don't recommend him.
Mr. Barnhart has a great sense of humor but also stays focused on what he needs to cover. It was good that he encouraged older students with work experience to contribute. He's also incredibly speedy with getting grades back & really keeps up with things on Blackboard. It seemed like tons of work but I did learn a lot. Wish I had taken him for 256.
Prof Barnhart is one of my favorite professors that I have had at GRCC. He is always upbeat and happy and likes to joke around. He will let you know exactly what to study for on the exams. If you study what he tells you to there is no reason not to get an A. Highly recommended
Great prof, easy 4-credit class, taken online. Answered emails quickly. He let me redo an assignment that I messed up on & was very nice about it. Lots of discussion posts (which are easy). No papers, projects, or group work which is always great. Tests are all multiple choice except final which included two short answer questions.
He's pretty clear cut, just do the assignments and follow directions and this class is an easy A. His directions are pretty solid. He answers emails pretty quickly, and lays out the class in a very organized manner. Only thing I was not super keen about was the fact that the tests were timed at 60 minutes every time. Class was easy though.
He was VERY rude when I emailed asking him to clarify what I did wrong in an assignment. I am an adult and did not appreciate being talked down to. The assignments are plenty but 90% of them are not difficult. You only had 60 mins to finish a test, but there was so much info to cover in them it would be nice to have more time. Overall, Hated it.
You do have to actually do the work and pay attention. If you get behind it can get difficult to catch up. I thought it was a great class, he's a great teacher and I would take him again for other accounting classes. The final was over the last few chapters rather than cumulative.
If you take the class online you'll do a lot of quizzes, the tests are nothing like the quizes at all. Some of his questions on the tests are opinion based, so good luck with that. There's also only 60 minutes for each test with an average of 45 paragraph questions. I would strongly recommend taking the class on campus instead of online.
He is one of the more upbeat professors that I've had at GRCC. While I am not great with accounting, he made it easier than I thought it would be. He is helpful when you ask for it. Coming to class is essential along with doing the homework - you won't do well if you neglect those. I would take another class with him in a heartbeat.
The worst grade I have received at college so far. Lectures are very boring. You have online homework every week through connect. Some homework problems. If you do the homework problems you get the points. Tests were difficult and long. Tests are worth more than homework. Quiz's are 10 questions but 20 points each. No extra credit.
Barnart made accounting a lot easier than my previous professor. I would definitely take him again, although he was incredibly unorganized and bounced all over the place a lot. He's a nice professor, and makes learning the material very easy.
He is one of my favorite professors at GRCC. He is straight forward, we go through the notes, do some problems that go with each part of the notes, and have LearnSmarts (online) and hand-in assignments for each chapter. We have quizzes and four exams through the semester. Final is part accumulative (multiple choice) and problems from last 2 chs.
I took the 7 week version so it was a little faster paced. Homework is graded for quantity not quality. He does use connect, and for the summer course there was always a decently heavy load of stuff to do. Tests were long, each one takes around 2 hours to complete
I really enjoyed this class. Professor Barnhart was great at communicating. He would email us a week before letting us know what to expect the following week. Would then email us the middle of the week with reminders and motivational tips to finish the week strong. I also really enjoyed the assignments. I felt they really pertained to the chapters.
Great prof. Tries to crack jokes every minute of class. Very friendly and helpful.
I thought professor Barnhart was vary good. He is a little bit long winded at times and tends to repeat himself quite a bit, but over all I really enjoyed the class. He has good stories that relate to the lecture and gives good examples that help to solidify the concept in your head.
I don't see why most students love him so much, honestly he bored me in class he wandered off what he was teaching a lot and it was frustrating. Doesn't give you any idea what the MC ?'S on the exams are instead you have to study the entire notes. But he is very smart and knows exactly what he is teaching, if you want an A be prepared to study ALOT
He is a terrible professor. Talks about random stories and tries to crack jokes. Will not help you if you are struggling but admires the super smart kids. Don't take accounting 2 with him.
I really enjoyed his teaching style. He has notes you can print and in class add. Listen to what he says that isn't on the notes. like examples. those tend to be the multi pal choice questions. If you do the homework and study you will do good in his class. He gives you extra credit that will also help your grade. Not easily side tracked.
This was the worst grade that I have received in college. The class is exam heavy. He admires the kids that are really smart and just get it. I found myself living in the accounting tutorial lab trying to understand the material. A very difficult course. When I went to him for extra help, wasn't very helpful.
I have been on the Dean's list for 3 years now and I've taken difficult classes but I've still managed to maintain a high GPA. But this class, I failed. This class was all over the place. He was not clear and it's very fast paced. I felt like I was in an advanced accounting class. Take this class online and not with him!!! So much easier online
Professor Richard is a great professor. He always tells the student exactly what it's going to be on each exam. he gives a lot of extra credit, and lots of practice so student can be ready for the test. some people do not do as good in this class because they don't study and think that accounting is an easy A. just study hard & you will be fine.
One of the best professors I had at GRCC. I took Ba103 and got an okay grade. would of had a better grade if i went to class more. assignments were super easy.. 90% of them are online. and the group discussions were easy. hes very understanding. especially when you mess up on a test or homework assignment
Don't love accounting or numbers? Take accounting with Prof. B. He loves to teach accounting, teaches so anyone can understand (if you apply yourself). Prof. B. gives practice problems which are exactly like the test questions. Practice them! Very organized, quick grader, enthusiastic teacher! No quizzes, just exams. Homework for completion grade.
He's super nice, friendly and always happy. Good interaction, simple and straightforward homework assignments, can do them from home. Lets you take tests outside of class, just at a set time. Understanding on grading, nice person in general. Super easy, outgoing, communicable, funny, friendly, and a good prof that lets you work at your own pace
Barnhart offers no lecture, all you do in class is work on all the homework he assigns you. Beware there is tonsss of homework. Expect at least 5 assignments each week with test on top of that. Hes a fair grader but this class is really just homework.
Great guy. Always willing to help you any way he can. Recommend him 100%.
Took BA 256 online with him. The homework was a bit heavy but very helpful and made me retain the information I learned.
This professor was great, my ONLY professor out of 5 classes that gave feedback on assignments. He also provided valuable feedback, not just a simple good job, he also had a lot of nice things to say and such. The assignment directions were VERY clear and easy to follow, the work was time consuming but overall very easy to do. I enjoyed this class.
