Prof. Biritwum was a great teacher. He gives a ton of extra credit and as long as you read the chapters and pay attention in class then you'll pass the tests. I actually learned a ton from this class considering I knew little to nothing about computers prior to this class.

Richard is a great teacher. The four hours in the class are really long, bit Richard keeps it fun. He is very humorous. The class is pretty simple so long as you read and do your work. I've learned a lot of different things about computers that I didn't know and all thanks to Richard.

Awesome Instructor, who explains concepts succintly enough for any average student to undestand. He cares, and spends time with students. He shows great concern when students are not motivated and appear to drift. He spent time with each student and gets to know them, their family and personal challenges. He tailors the class to our strengths.

I took his 4-hour class and during the night time, and it was definitely reading heavy. Make sure you take some time to read the course material; computers are very detail-intensive. He helps out a lot, and the tests are pretty much what you'll read in the book. He's funny, really mellows the class with some of his stories. Awesome teacher.

He is very nice, and funny. And yes, he will help you on the labs if you ask for help. However, his test DO NOT COINCIDE AT ALL WITH THE LECTURES OR THE CHAPTERS ASSIGNED! It was a guessing game with his tests. If he says a test is based on chapters 1 - 4 then you can definitely expect to see anything but those chapters. This class ruined my 4.0!

Computer classes can be individualistic in that the student does the work and the professor is there to help and answer questions. It was not so with Professor Biritwum. Good teacher, he doesn't lecture a whole lot but he is there to help when you need it, his CIS 111 and 113 class both use Zybooks. The 113 class doesn't give any info in a specific language so its up to you to look up how stuff is done for the projects. Really good fun class and teacher. Gona miss having classes with him.

This is my second time taking him but this time for Data Structures. He doesn't lecture but he is there to help you and you should be able to complete a lot on your own. Don't listen to the criticizers, programming can be hard but manageable. Data structures wasn't as hard as beginner's Java in my opinion, and you should be able to pass.

Doesn't grade all assignments till end of semester and even then I had many assignments ungraded leaving me with a lower grade than deserved. If you take this class I would be bugging him all the time about grades.

Professor Biritwum is an overall amazing professor. He gives you your homework at the beginning of the semester, and it is on you to space everything out and complete your homework. Besides the first exam, the other exams are just programming projects that you and a partner complete together. His teaching style isn't for everyone, but overall 10/10

This was my third and possibly last time taking Biritwum and, as always, he is a wonderful professor. This time around, our class did fall a little behind, but it's normal because it's assembly language. It's not as hard as java for example but what I like about Biritwum is you can go at your own pace. He doesn't pressure you and he show he cares.

Richard Biritwum is a great professor, he really puts his soul into his lectures for CIS 101. He takes his time to explain what is on his tests. As for his labs he does not proceed until everyone knows what to do next. He is caring and understands if you are late or can't make it for class as long as you email him ahead of time.

While Professor Biritwum was incredibly easy, I would not recommend his class for any serious comp sci majors. There were no formal lectures as all work/learning was done by students in ZyBooks. This is okay for people who enjoy that style of learning, however, if you want grounded lectures and a genuine learning experience, do not take him.

He makes odd remarks regarding women. As well inquiring about my personal dating life, he has gotten close in my personal space a few times, which made me feel extremely uncomfortable. I was going to just avoid him, but a few other girls have mentioned he treated them similar. It's really creepy and unprofessional for a professor to act this way.

A man who gets paid to do literally nothing. Does not lecture. Boring and dull ZYBook assignments. Although you could easily obtain an A within this class, I wouldn't sacrifice my ethics and morals for something so superficial.

Biritwum was truly an awful professor. He was constantly late to class, the most late being a whole hour, and always seems to be confused by any questions asked. He does absolutely nothing, just sits on his computer and watches videos. Attendance is mandatory even though all you do in class in zybooks. Complete waste of time and a joke of a teacher

Hes uh.. interesting, a laid back professor who seems to take the self learning approach. The problem is, why is attendence madatory if we are learning by ourselves. I felt like we were going to class just to not get dropped out. I wish he could interact with the class more. For example, going over a lab with the whole class, just for engagment.

I learned nothing from him at all. In fact, one of the few times he actually talked about code, he gave the class misinformation. How does a java teacher and the Assistant Professor of CIS department not know java?

More for independent proactive learners but will always work with you one on one or there will be a tutor in the classroom. Encourages us to help each other and will give advance concepts to study if your done with all the labs. The only way you can fail this class is not asking for help and watching cat videos during class.

Professor Biritwum has a unique teaching style that requires self-motivation, but he's very helpful if you engage with the material. unstuck study, ChatGPT, and zyBooks were all great study tools that complemented the class well.

Mr. Biritwum is very unprofessional, he has students work on their own and makes it a hassle to ask questions and receive help from him. He invades personal space constantly and sits back while videos play for students to receive basic information for the class. When he does speak he gives misinformation while. He also asked many private questions.

Mr Biritwum struggles to teach, gives wrong info, dodges questions. He often came late or skipped class entirely without notice. Didn't follow his own syllabus. The class was always dead silent. Students had to rely on Zybooks and random YouTube videos. Waste of time and tuition.

Imagine: you're fresh out of CS121 Intro to Java; it was a good, practical, hands-on lab class! Then you get to Mr. Biritwum, who is getting a student aid for a class he doesn't teach in. You come in for two and a half hours, read the ZyBook in silence, there are no lectures, labs, or coding practice, then you leave... for 3 months, 2 times a week.
