very laid back-only need the textbook for the tests. His class can be boring at times because its mostly a lecture, but you can also leave at any time. He tells you what exact subjects will be on the exam. If you are not a good writer, do not take his class-his exams are all essays and one paper. his class is very easy though!

Go to class and take less than a page of notes during class and it becomes an easy A. can be boring, but the notes and the discussions are usually incorporated in to the essay tests. doesnt seem very organized, white guy who speaks perfect english. likes people who attend class but email him to let him know your absent and its all good.

Easiest class ever! The only thing that might be hard is that all the test are "essay," not really there more like short answer. There is also a research paper but its free choice so its easy. The whole class was people telling stories about themshelves and then Bobys would tell some stories relating to the material and then we were out.

Loved this instructor. Very relaxed and enjoyable; great stories. Some students found lecture long but I found it interesting. Tests are easy as long as you at least read chapters or pay attention in class. I'm taking his SOC 202 class! The only downside-no formal breaks. Breaks would be nice.

Very helpful. Tells you what is on the test the class before. Really likes length rather than quality. If you aren't a good writer, don't take. Really understanding with schedules. Tends to ramble on and he loves to hear himself talk. Overall good professor, easy class, easily got an A.

Man he loved to talk. He watches the news all day and is very into politics which i am not so i thought his lectures were a little boring. He doesnt give breaks and talks about Iowa 27 times a class. His tests are 3 question essays which i thought would be horrible but were fine. You either know it or you don't. Very nice, sincere guy

Very nice fellow. I wrote a term paper on something he disagrees with (gun ownership), but he still respected my views and graded fairly. Goes over lots of historical aspects of sociology, and is easy to understand.

Prof. Bobys was terrific. I really enjoyed his class. I learn best in the lecture format and think teachers make it pretty obvious what they think is important by what they go on about in class. I was laughing at someone else's comments about his mentioning Iowa 27 times each class, but most of his stories were relevant and interesting. Good class!

I took sociology 201 during the summer and i must say he is fantastic! I am planning on taking 202,he makes sociology so interesting! and he is an understanding teacher, will work with you to get a good grade!! so far one of my best teachers at nova (and this is my second year)

He's a good teacher. You can easily tell that he knows what he's talking about, and the fact that he doesn't stay in text ALL the time is actually helpful in understanding the material. He does love to talk about politics, and he incorporates a lot of material to it. Dont take him if you dont write very well. His exams are essays.

Definitely one of the more exciting courses I've taken at NOVA. He'll get you interested in sociology if you weren't already before. An "A" is achievable if you are willing to listen and do well on any assignments. A lot of classroom discussion. He's openly liberal, but doesn't shun other points of view. Great professor! Check him out!

Excellent teacher. Very fun and tells stories that relate to the class. As long as you pay attention in class and get all of the hand outs you will get an A. Great teacher!!!!

Not Bad...He knows a lot about the subject and is sort of interesting to listen to...Quizes he gives are not hard...but he grades them funny...I would always get Bs, but he gave me an A on my paper...so weird grader...but cant complain about anything else.

LOVE this teacher! One of the BEST I've ever had. His classes are engaging, interesting and knowledgeable . He gives great test reviews, he doesn't overload you with work and you actually look forward to going to class. If you get the opportunity, take this class even as an elective.

I absolutely loved taking soc201 with Bobys! He knows what he is talking about and he has a great sense of humor! His class is very easy, all exams are essay format. I'm not a great writer, but I still managed to do really well on all the exams. Easy A!

He is great. Very helpful and understanding. The tests are easy- short answers. whatever he talks in class is on the test. term paper is easy as well , give him 2 weeks early for review. he is funny as well. I recommend him :)

OMG this class is sooo easy, Bobys is such a sweetheart, i slept in class right infront of his face and he and still was nice to me lol, 2 quizes, 1 paper and 1 final, class is mainly a discussion talk but you dont have to talk, DEFINITELY RECOMMEND.TAKE HIM!!!

Dr Bobys teaches sociology very well. His tests are two short answers and one multiple choice exam. For this class there are no power points so you just have to read the text and come prepared for class discussion. For his discussion in class you dont have to talk. One more thing every class he would always talk of his time in Iowa.

GREAT CLASS!!! GREAT PROFESSOR!! The class is interesting, is dynamic, and full of awesome knowledge. Professor Bobys is very knowledgeable and very passionate about sociology. Exams are fair, and there are not surprises, open questions. It is a great class and a great teacher.

Bobys Soc 200 online. Lots of reading & watching videos. 3 exams- 150 points each-consist of 30 multiple choice questions and 10 short answer questions. Apparently, he's a great teacher in person & I could tell he was very nice and understanding, but online was not my favorite & seemed like more work. Something to consider.Took dedication for my A.

Took the morning class twice a week, but it was totally worth it! There are only two quizzes, midterm and final essays, and one research paper. Skim the chapters, and you'll be fine for the tests!

Rambles on & on. Likes to talk about growing up in DC & living in Idaho. He mentions Idaho quite a lot. He's full of interesting stories. Very understanding professor. Interesting class, a ton of work and no spring break. But he is really quick with grading and leaves comments.Exams were okay but you definitely have to study a lot for them. Would recommend him to anyone who would actually like learn something about sociology. If you are looking for an easy A class, keep looking!

Prof. Bobys is really easy, I didn't even use the textbook. I took him again because he's nice and almost guaranteed A. We had a paper and I think we had 2 tests. Honors option with him is a short report on a museum. Class was chill and enjoyable, but don't go in with super heavy expectations. Talks alot about personal experiences.

If you didn't know Bobys was from Idaho, you will know after this class.

The 2nd easiest A of my life. His class was in a auditorium so chairs were too comfy to not sleep on. He is super nice and an easy grader. I went to class like 6 times 3 times were quizes 2 were papers. Take notes some questions are from them. Just know stuff don't have to rem a to z of each topic. Just enough to write in a paper. Totally RECOMMEND

I had not any teacher better than him. easy A. You will love him, and you can participate in class discussions too.

This guy loves IOWA. Everything somehow relates back to that place. He's pretty funny. Had fun coming to his class. He likes giving out "extra credit" assignments. He takes forever to put stuff up on blackboard and for a good part of the semester I had no idea what I got on some of the work I turned in. Overall, I would recommend him. Lectures well

This professor is one of the best I have taken. He likes to turn the class into more of a discussion rather than a lecture. Keep in mind, he talks the whole entire class about the subject so it's easy to get bored, but he is very chill and let's you take a break and walk out whenever as long as you come back. I recommend him highly!

Dr. Bobys is amazing! I love how he turns his lectures into open discussions and will speak out the world and relate it back to sociology. it can be boring but its not like your average lecture. His exams are easy and had one essay. He is an older gentleman but adorable and corky!

There are only 4 grades the entire semester. A seven-ten page paper and three tests. Honestly, this class is the easiest class I have ever taken, and I did not learn a thing. So if you just want an easy A to satisfy a credit, take this class.

Professor Bobys is a really good teacher. He made Sociology really interesting. His assignments include so many different learning techniques it is easy to learn his material. He gives great feedback and shares real life stories to make the class even more interesting. A great example of getting out of a class what you put into it.

He's the absolute best. His lectures are easy to follow and fun and full of stories. his tests are easy, and if you study with the study guide, you are almost sure to get a 100. there are no assignments other than one big 7-10 page on a topic of your choice. Dr. Bobys makes learning fun and you (most probably) won't regret taking his class.

If you want to have a professor that is really easy and literally tells funny life stories every class, then I recommend Professor Bobys!! He is lenient when it comes to grading and is hilarious. He is a great person and super chill. The quizzes are easy and he has a list of what you need to study for each quiz on blackboard.

Took this class as an ELI and passed ! Must pass 1/2 exams. The 3rd is take home, which is easy. HW is submitted every two weeks which was awesome and flexible for me. HW consists of Discussion and Journals. Its not hard at all just a bit time consuming but very doable. Youll watch some videos and answer questions. Exams were ok just read !

Easy assignments, no textbook needed. Had one group project and a few short, 2-3 page essays to write. Tests were generally pretty easy too, questions taken from practice quizzes and the last test was take-home. We had two weeks between each due date, so this class would be great for someone with a busy schedule who needs something flexible.

This teacher is the best he cares for his students and is funny. You learn a lot and everything is super interesting. The grading is not hard just do the assignments on time and the test are super clear and have study guides. Easy class as long as you do the work .

Professor Bobys is laid back and tries to make the course as easy as possible. All he does is relate Sociology to real life examples. Make sure to write your own notes during lectures and hold on to any handouts. If theres a multiple choice quiz then make sure to really study the chapters from the book. Otherwise stick to your notes and handouts.

HES AWESOME! lecture all he does is talk the whole time, you don't need to take notes. what he talks about is all interesting so it never really gets boring. 1st quiz is 5 short answer questions, 2nd is multiple choice and final is short answer like the 1st one. HE tells us what exactly to read from the book for the test . 7 -page essay easy.

There is a lot of reading, but what do you expect, its a sociology class. I took a 16 week online class, not hard at all, actually one of my favorite classes. Assignment keep me interested, projects and homework are easy, there are 3 big exams but doable. He gives you plenty of time to turn in work. Overall, I would take again.

Hes a great professor. Really understanding and laid back. He is funny, but seems to go off on tangents. Easy class- 3 tests and an easy paper. He will help you if you dont understand or need help! He applies his lectures to real life which is very helpful.

Professor Bobys was by far the easiest and best professor Ive ever had. Sure its an easy A, but I actually learned quite a bit at the same time! I was able to apply it to the 2 easy exams and if you get 3-5 wrong he will still give you 100%. Same thing with the term paper, I got 100% on it! Easy and v inspirational!

I love this professor because I had problems and he let me turn in assignments I didn't do in time and he put an A on my class when my grade was a B

Great professor who genuinely wants you to do well in the class. There were only 4 graded assignments (4 tests and a paper), but all of which were incredibly easy. His lectures were generally entertaining but he had a tendency to repeat certain stories or examples as time went on. All in all he's a great professor

The BEST professor, he is caring and funny and has a clear syllabus he sets you to pass as long as you do what you are told and give 100%.

Professor wasnt given points off for late assignment. Self paced. As long as your complete the work he will grade it. He was response time would be with 24 hours. I enjoyed his class. Also gives extra credit assignment which helps if you didnt score so well on other assignments. Learned a lot.

Took his class as an online class, but he was a great professor! He was quick to reply to emails & always gives feedback on assignments. This class had a lot of reading, homework, and papers due but he gives you 2 weeks each time to turn everything in. 3 exams but the last one is take home. Overall great class & great professor.

He's an easy grader, but he assigns way too much homework for a 16 WEEK CLASS. Assignments are easy, just annoying. Exams are fine, 50 multiple choice with 5 short answers. I wouldn't take him again only because I hate reading , but if you don't mind reading, watching 1 hour long vids, and writing alot than go for it. IF NOT then find someone else

I really enjoyed Professors Bobys online class. He was very lenient and understands that you have other classes as well as his. The workload was what I expected. Biweekly modules filled with 2-4 assignments in each one. Exams were easy due to his study guides and practices quizzes, so if you use those youll be okay. I recommend Bobys to all.

The class it was ok sometimes we would have really good discussion, which made the class fun. This class was a stress free class. Tests were easy and he tells you how to prepare for them. There was one major paper which had to be 8pages but he isn't a tough grader, so take him. He is also kind and a chill professor.

I was worried about taking sociology, thinking it will be very difficult but once i attended the first class i knew i was going to learn alot and that professor Bobys was very caring and knew what he was talking about. He is very funny and makes the lectures interesting. His exams are very straight forward and he is a fair grader.

I took this online with Dr. Bobys. He is such a great communicator & makes sure all his students are aware of deadlines. The course is setup in a way that you already know what is due till the end. There are exam study guides & practice quizzes that help with the actual exam. The assignments are really interesting and the textbook is provided.

I loved his lectures even if they weren't always on topic they were interesting, and to be honest as long as you do the work you're most likely going to get a 100 he's an Easy Grader.

Professor Bobys is the BEST. With the remote learning due to the pandemic, I was sad that we did not have lectures with him. He gives study guides and tests are easy. You will not regret taking Professor Bobys! Got 100% in his class. VERY EASY

SO EASY FOR ONLINE. He was super responsive and had straight forward assignments. There was no class attendance and all HW was to write a paragraph. The exam was open book of 10 free response questions. I got a 100% for EVERY assignment so I ended up with an A+. Take him! He was amazing and its an EASY A

Professor Bobys rambles most of class and only gets into lecture in the last 15 minutes. Only three exams and one paper the whole semester, and on the exams he tells you exactly what could be on the test and what page of the textbook it's on.

He's overall a good professor the only thing is he's older so instead of organizing things on canvas he just puts everything under the announcements tab so if you forget to check your announcements you'll miss assignments. Another thing is the assignments he wanted them emailed to him instead of having them on Canvas. Just a fair warning lol

I have to admit that I worked hard to memorize the material, but it paid off. It's conceptual, so I found my own ways to memorize it. Test format is short essay; write what you know about the topic. Just ask him for a study guide 2 weeks prior to the test. Only the stuff on the study guide was on the test. Short paper weekly.

Weekly minimum 3 paragraph essays and the exams are all written responses with a 7-10 page final paper. His lectures are interesting and he seems very woke about all the injustices in the world. would definitely take again

Literally the best professor at NOVA. His exams are so easy, if you study, you will pass. He provides a study guide, which is basically the exam. His homework assignments are so interesting and it makes you want to talk about the issues thats are being mentioned. If you listen and pay attention you will pass!! He's really sweet and understanding.

The most caring professor I have ever had. Weekly assignments based on writing 3 paragraphs as a response to an article & if he sees that you are putting effort into your work he will give you 100%. There is one 7pg minimum term paper & 3 small exams but it's all easy. Replies to emails quickly & understand any circumstance given. Textbook is free!

Dr. Bobys is an incredibly knowledgeable instructor. He is an encyclopedia of knowledge. Dr. Bobys will connect sociology with criminology and soc psychology. He will bring newspaper print outs and connect the material so well that you'll never want to leave the class. He's teaching style is unique and this course was an amazing experience!
